The holidays often bring up the pain of family relationships that we are often able to keep at bay during the rest of the year. How do you navigate the holidays and family time when you have close family members that are unhealthy for your emotional, mental and even physical well-being?
I had to have a difficult conversation with my children this week about why they have not seen my mother, their grandmother, since they were very little. It is a sad story of me being rejected by my mother over religious issues. At one point I had to take a stand, which is a radically audacious move, to protect my children and myself.
I would love to hear from you. What painful family situations are you navigating over the holidays? What powerful, radically audacious decisions did you make to protect yourself and your children from the mental, emotional and physical damage that these relationship often bring. Leave me a voice message here so that I can hear your story!
