(00:00):
Hello and welcome to the LovejoyNation podcast.
On today's episode, we'll be discussing the first gig of the
One Simple tour that took place in Boston last night as of this
broadcast. As of this recording, October
18th at Big Night Live and it was the first time ever that

(00:23):
Lovejoy had AVIP package. We all we'll be discussing how
that worked for everyone with all the questions we had.
In addition, we will be discussing the music video for
baptism, our sort of analysis and review of that.
And to start things off, Dave has a brief news piece for us.

(00:44):
Yes, thanks. Hello, in a recent Reddit post
there was a question asked. Will there be ACD version of the
new One Simple Trick album? Ash replied.
We have plans to release some more physical copies of the
album in different formats in the near future.
So there you go folks. We will be getting more albums.

(01:10):
Nice. Now do we think that means CD
cassette, or do we think they'llactually be pressing more
albums? What are your thoughts?
I think yes to everything. I think more albums, CD,
possibly cassettes. I might.
Think they'll be extended versions or the same as the
original? I always thought, OK, it's a
limited run of this, are they going to drop the album again

(01:35):
how it was supposed to be with Wasted Summer and still don't?
Think so I I don't. Know summer might be on that
scrapped sort of thing, Wilber alluded to on a Reddit post.
An album of, like, all kinds of things that haven't been
published before. That's my opinion because I feel
like this is their baby. This is the package they wanted

(01:59):
to put together the album and toput Wasted Summer on it now
doesn't. Make sense?
And plus they actually talked about wasted summer being on a
single OR. I don't remember.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
What are they going to release the single and then re release
the album with that single on it?
That's my theory. Yeah, I.

(02:21):
Again, I guess we just have to wait and see.
We. Just have to wait and see, yeah?
We're we're good at waiting. OK, on to the VIP experience.
Yes, sounds good to me. So yes, we were all excited when
we heard that this one simple tour would include VIP packages.
But then that, of course, that opened a whole slew of questions

(02:43):
that we have. So we want to record this
episode right away in an effort to answer a lot of those
questions for people that are just thinking about day and
night like Angie and I are. So this has been very helpful.
We had a friend of mine fall in courts on Instagram.
That's her handle. Attended the show last night and

(03:03):
she was gracious enough to provide lots of answers as I
pestered her all night long on her phone while she's trying to
enjoy the show. Now she before and after the
show we spoke. So let's just start off.
I think we should we should preface this by saying that
things may change. Each venue may have their own

(03:23):
specific times or schedules. So this part that we're talking
about here is what happened lastnight, October 18th in Boston.
So please check your particular e-mail for your particular venue
to make sure that you have your times correct.
So this is just Boston that we're talking about.
Things could change so. One point, yeah, experiences may

(03:45):
vary, and I'm sure things will change as the tour goes along
and they work out. Different things.
Think this particular one is exactly the same for Toronto.
I believe somebody's put that onso.
But yeah, but it's exactly what you folks said.
This is just purely going to depend on the venue.

(04:08):
Our first question, did you receive communication such as
e-mail with the details of the VIP experience prior to the show
date? What did the e-mail say?
OK so my friend let me know and actually shared screenshots of
her e-mail that she received. Let's see Thursday afternoon.

(04:29):
So a couple days before the show, she received an e-mail
with all the details of what thepackage included as well as what
time to check in. It said arrive at 5:30 to check
in at the venue. Says that if you arrive late,
the early entry and VIP experience will not be available
and it stated where to line up. It said second floor entrance of

(04:52):
Big Night Live. A day or two later she received
an follow up e-mail that said I would like to inform you that
the timeline for tomorrow's VIP experience has been adjusted.
Check in will now begin at 5 andthe meet and greet will start
promptly at 5:30 PM. So I guess they gave time for
lining up and getting everyone situated and then going into the

(05:14):
to the meet and greet itself. Which is probably a good idea.
OK, Yeah. So that's that's loosely 2 hours
before doors open. Believe so.
Then again as well keep saying maybe it'll vary.
I'm sure it'll vary by venue andas they work out kings to see
what works best for them. Absolutely.

(05:37):
What time did you arrive at the venue?
Where are the VIP attendees? Already there.
She arrived around 2:00 PM and she says there were a few VIPs
already there. Less than 5 I believe.
Yeah, I think she was fifth in line, is what she said.
OK, cool. I asked her when they were

(05:59):
actually let into the VIP experience with regard to when
they were supposed to check in. And it looks like around 5:10
they started to move to go in. So that's pretty good, I think.
Yeah, I'm guessing maybe everyone showed up on time and
there was no nothing that delayed them, which is good.

(06:22):
Nice. Absolutely.
Can you describe how the VIP experience was set up?
Were the band members all together for meet and greet or
were they spread out separately? Were people allowed to get
autographs? Give gifts?
How were the pictures taken? Was the band shaking hands?
Giving hugs? Approximately how much time did

(06:44):
you get with the band? A lot of good stuff there, so
they actually had them. The meet and greet happen in
front of the stage, the center of the stage, on the floor.
The whole band was all together. You were allowed to bring gifts,
folks were allowed to bring things to have signed.
There was no contact as of course these guys need to worry

(07:05):
about their health to last them through all these shows.
Oftentimes they have night afternight after night of shows and
this is just a start. So especially I could imagine
strictly no hugs are touching for health concerns.
You had about two or three minutes with the band, which is
nice, and Elodie was taking the photos for you, so more power to

(07:25):
LED for for that. I'm sure there's a lot of Purell
going around, but it sounded like a great opportunity.
Just like the right amount of time, you know?
Don't want, you say it sounds like to me.
Have a good chat, say hello. Yeah, what can't that girl do?
She does everything. Work every phone under the sun.

(07:46):
And I think Busta was on hand tomake sure people didn't go over
there a lot of time to keep the process moving along.
They do absolutely schedule, yeah.
Yeah, that's. Yeah.
Makes sense they they've got X amount of time to fit X amount
of people in. Don't expect to sit there for 15
minutes gassing. No, they need someone to keep

(08:06):
everything on time, and rather than having the band try to
enforce that, you know what, he's a perfect guy for it, so
yeah, it. Makes that combustor for
nothing. Right you go over the time you
bust your butt. Yep, big big question.
Were you able to buy merch during the VIP experience?

(08:28):
Yes, you were able to buy merch early during the VIP event,
which is so nice because we all know how long those merch lines
can get. And sometimes you don't always
want to go before the show because you want to get your
spot and stay there. And if you wait till after the
show, it's crazy and sometimes things are sold out.

(08:48):
So I think that is an amazing part.
Solutely. We all like that.
I was thinking though, how we carry all this merch.
But anyway, we'll get into the actual merch.
Right. Well, the merch included a tote
bag. There's your answer.
You have to buy a tote bag. I guess that makes sense.
Yeah, it's. Yeah, or a couple.

(09:10):
Yeah, absolutely. So the match consisted of
hoodie, couple of T-shirts, tight bag, pin badges.
Yeah, there's enamel pins, there's the ghost from the new
profile picture on Spotify and other places they've been using
it, and the the finger gun that Wilbur does behind his back in
pan display. Very calm.

(09:31):
I'm going to need AM. I I'm not missing anything else,
am I? There's two T-shirts, a Gray
T-shirt, a black T-shirt and a. Black hoodie.
Yeah, it looks. Like one of these?
One of the T-shirts was like theobligatory tour date T-shirt and
I couldn't zoom in on the picture well enough to see what
the other one was, but it lookedlike it might have had the pay
and display artwork on it and I couldn't tell what was written

(09:52):
underneath it, but it was cool. I'm going to need them both.
And it was nice to have a not black shirt too.
Yes, as an. Option.
Love that. That's it.
I showed my daughter this morning.
She went. You're going to buy the grey
one, aren't you? I went.
Yeah, because it's not a black. Right.
You know. It's nice to have.
Grey over blacks. And the free merchandise item

(10:15):
that VIP participants received, Actually, I guess there is 2.
Yeah, you received a Lovejoy scarf, which looks pretty cool.
It looks so cool. It wasn't what I was expecting
to be quite honest with you. I don't know what I was
expecting, but I wasn't expecting a scarf.
And you also had an OST signed poster, so obviously they're

(10:41):
already pre signed, which I thought, which I thought was
quite smart. I'm sure they sat sat in a room
and just passed them off to eachother.
Sign sign Sign, sign sign. The scarf that was a nicer piece
of merch than I honestly thoughtthat we would get for a free VIP
merch item. Usually with these sort of

(11:02):
things, it's like a key chain orone time we got a little cooler
lunch koozie bag, which is cool and we use it a lot, but an
actual scarf and it looks nice. Like I think it's great.
It's really cool. It has.
The Enjoy logo. The new look for the wording.
Black background, white wording.I think it's cool to like,

(11:24):
especially me that I love to wear.
I'm sure all of us love to wear Lovejoy merch out in public all
the time whenever you can. So to have the word Lovejoy,
like, boom, like across your chest as you're wearing your
winter coat, I'm so excited for that.
And plus, we're doing the futureshows when it gets chilly.
Yeah, I've. Never thought about that, those

(11:45):
November shows. Thanks, I'm expecting to see one
hung up behind you in the comingweeks.
In the coming soon, I think I'llhave a.
Spare Absolutely. I thought it was funny too,
because Dave with his. I love Rob's scarf, you know?
I know. Yeah, that's right.
I forgot to put it up today, butyeah.

(12:06):
It's like you're on to. Something you're a trendsetter,
Dave. We also asked about Anvil cards.
We were wondering what the outerpack of the anvil cards look
like. And of course, we also wanted to
know what the Anvil cards themselves look like, and how
many there were in a pack. Well, sadly at this time, at the
time of recording there were no Anvil cards available to give

(12:29):
out. So I heard from my friend that
there was an iPad set up where you entered your name and
address and they were planning to mail you the cards once
they're available. There is an issue with the
printer, so there's a delay and hopefully they'll get them
shipped out to America whilst they're on tour and so they
won't have to do this for every show because I'm sure that's a

(12:50):
pain in the neck for them to do.But yeah, so we still have to
wait a bit longer. Again, we're used to that in
this fandom, to see what these cards look like and how many and
all of them. I can just see them in a couple
of weeks time on their day off sat there licking envelopes.
I bet I'm sure of it, but Will shouldn't because if he cuts his
tongue, that's not a good thing.Joe now too, because he sings

(13:13):
so. Yeah, can't have that.
They both have to be. Careful, they'll throw Ash and
Mark in the back rooms and have them do it.
Yeah, They don't really have to say anything, no.
Ash should do all the licking. Oh no.
What the hell? All right, OK, we're together.

(13:33):
Team OK. After finishing the meet and
greet, were you instructed to goback outside or wait?
Or basically what happened afterthat?
It sounds like they were usheredoff to the side of the stage
because the meet and greet was actually happening in front of
the stage. So they were just told to wait

(13:54):
kind of off to the side to let the VIP experience finish so
they did not have to go back outside, which is nice.
But then once the VIP experiencefinished, then it was kind of a
free for all to claim your spot, right?
Which has us a barricade nerds like a little bit worried about
how that goes because we feel like a lot of you, we think

(14:16):
about every single detail of howexactly this is going to work
and what's it going to look like.
And so we need to plan our move. And of course, every night is
going to be different. So it'll be interesting to hear
how it works going forward. Different shows, this part of
it. VIP experience ending and the
moving to your spot afterwards. Dave doesn't seem too concerned.

(14:41):
No, he doesn't. Just go wherever he goes.
And he's chill. The best of it.
Think I I'm not ashamed to say that it's probably an illness.
It's I have some sort of illness.
You know what? I think I had a nightmare about
this last night. I'm not even kidding.
I just remembered. I was dreaming about all of this
all night and it kept waking me up.

(15:01):
Yeah, real. Oh my God.
You know what I bring? I bring a real little point and
shoot that I researched to get the best one for concert
photography. It's, I mean, it's not just for
being up close. It's also I love taking pictures
during the concert and trying toget cool shots to share with all
of you. So there's method to my madness
as well. You do take really good.

(15:22):
Interest, thank you. It is good to get different
viewpoints though, so over the course of the three shows
different angles and distances. And I'm five feet, one inch.
So yeah, I I can't see over anybody.
Vertically challenged, as my father would say.
Lastly, I did make sure to ask how many people it seems like

(15:46):
we're in the VIP part of this VIP experience, how many
participants, how many VIPs? And the guesstimate was 60.
OK, so that's not bad. All right?
Yeah, That's like not bad for a good turn out and not bad for
having to slog through all thosepeople each having their turn in

(16:07):
a timely manner. So that's cool.
Nice sounds. Like, curious what the numbers
will be again at the other venues now that I think we've
covered most of your questions about how VIP works or at least
how it worked at the first show.Well, let's let's just talk
about the gig itself, guys. How amazing just seeing the
pictures and videos come in and people's talking about their

(16:30):
experience on all the social media.
I just wanted to start off by saying hope you don't mind me
saying this baptism when Wilbur comes out and he's not playing
the guitar. And I think someone said he
picks it up eventually in the song perhaps.
But the fact that for that song and maybe some other songs, he

(16:51):
didn't have the guitar in his hands and he was more freely
able to move about the stage anddance and sing instead of having
to also play the guitar at the same time, That's brand new.
Never saw that before. And that's exciting and freeing,
I would imagine, for him. It's fantastic, I love it.
Just thinking back to when they did that Arctic Monkeys cover

(17:15):
with Good Kid on stage and Will didn't have a guitar, all the
jumping around he was doing, it was so great.
And I loved seeing that last night and Oh my gosh, the set
list, you guys, I thought there was no way they were going to
play every song from the new album.
I was like. There is 0.
Chance they played every song and they kept like the real like

(17:38):
bangers in there. That set list is perfection.
Perfect. It's so well crafted.
I'm going to see in monochrome Live is going to like
permanently change me. Oh my God, we're going to be
crying, staring like a bunch of fools.
I'm going to like Calculi. I'll bring the tissue box.
We'll share it. OK, you know, going back to my

(18:02):
gig, but I just sat there tryingto wrap my brains and I really,
honestly cannot remember whetherwe had a guitar for Baptism or
not. I think it was the fact that
they came on and this whole new song was playing and it was
like. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Absolutely. I've just been sat there while
she's talking and I really, really cannot think.

(18:23):
But to hear you will kind of love these.
Hearing them live is different and watching some of the video
clips you already know all the lyrics to all the songs, whereas
we all stood there and it's likebaptism.
Oh my God. So I had a totally different
experience for baptism, but whenthey toured the UK, it's going

(18:48):
to be a no different experience again.
Monochrome is fantastic. Every, you know, really wanted
to give details in the last partfor for that it's all freaking
fantastic. Everybody is going to love.
It my gosh. A week.
And. A day.
A week and a day, Leslie. And they played Death Box, which

(19:11):
wasn't played at the London gig. That's right, I.
Gutted. I don't know why.
Yeah, that's strange. But maybe they wanted to save it
for you Americans. They love US1 last.
Little surprise, do you know? I think so.
Now. That was really the first time
playing the whole entire album live ever.

(19:32):
Sorry, Dave, Sorry. You'll have your time in the sun
next year, I'm sure. They did a fabulous job of
keeping the right songs in theretoo.
I know. Like there's always songs that
you're going to miss. I mean, obviously, you know, Sex
Cells and SCUM, yeah, they're always gross.

(19:52):
Yeah, I know Scum is so good life.
But man, they did a good job of keeping it and I think just the
right songs. And it's how they blended it.
And yes, arranged it is perfect. It's beautiful.
It is a thing of beauty. Normal people.
Things go so well with this album.
And concrete like us, it's just one after the other after the

(20:14):
other. No wonder they say Wilbur is
like so wetting to death by the end because it's just in the
audience. I'm sure.
All that jumping around and dancing and screaming, yelling
like it's just going to be insane.
I didn't have a chance to compare last night's setlist to
a previous setlist. I'm wondering about the length.
It seemed like there might have been.

(20:35):
Last night's setlist might have been a little bit longer than
their normal setlist. I heard it was about an hour and
a half show. Perfect.
Yeah, perfect. I have been.
I have been hoping and praying. I'm like, OK, you guys got a
whole whole problem. Now you keep.
Yeah, something like that. You've got a whole.

(20:55):
That's what you've been doing for the last year and a half, to
be fair. Right, I know we never I'm.
Wishing and hoping. It never ends.
I mean, that's. Starts us off Dave just now
that's what you. Do as a love enjoyer, right?
My gosh, I'm so happy about that.
The Baptism music video, anotherbrilliant work of art by Noisy

(21:20):
Yak. And now we think this is the
official third part of the trilogy.
We had heard they were working on for Lovejoy, perhaps because
this is the third out of the four videos that's produced by
Noisiak. That's correct, yes, Yeah.
That is correct. How do we all like it?

(21:41):
The noisy acts knocked it out ofthe park, as usual.
It's fantastic. I no surprise there.
Yeah, no, no surprise. And I love, I love the messages
that you can take out of it. There's so much to dissect here,
especially just like, I mean, take the album name one simple

(22:02):
trick. I mean, look at the videos that
Mark and Ash are, you know, selling.
It's pretty much a quick fix, right?
One simple trick. They're general salvation,
right? VHS tapes that are going to save
your life. Yeah, watch these videos be
saved for for a one time donation of blah blah blah.
They make it look so easy and like that's what society is all

(22:23):
about these days, right? I mean, everybody wants a quick
fix. Nobody wants to actually, you
know, diet or exercise or, you know, work out anything, which I
mean, I get it. I'm, I'm guilty of those things
too. But we're all looking for that
quick fix. And I feel like that's one of
the themes running throughout this video.
Absolutely, I love this suit. I mean I obviously made the

(22:44):
little Lego figure of of him butlove the retroness of this the
field. To me, it felt like it was
recorded on film. Yeah.
With an old camera, obviously it's done behind the scenes and
all that lot, but it had that look about it and I loved that.

(23:04):
I thought it was Absolutely Fabulous.
The makeup, the costume, Wilbur just soaked that character of
the rings, all the details. And that look.
That look was amazing, wasn't it?
Scary as but that look brilliant.

(23:26):
How they whether that was deliberate or whether that was
not deliberate as such, whether that was like an accidental look
and they've thought, Oh my God, leave that in, who knows?
Brilliant. Props to whoever dug that Jimmy
Baker velvet blue suit and pink tie out of the closet.

(23:47):
Oh my God, love it and. I was thinking about yeah, Jimmy
and Tammy Faye Baker Jim and Tammy Faye Baker of our famous
American evangelist from the Letme think in the 70s they were
just characters and Jimmy Swaggart, you get all Google

(24:09):
this or as my dad would say, look it up in your funk and
Wagnalls. I was actually doing a little
bit of wiki research on these guys, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker
today, and The funny thing I discovered was in the 1960s,
they hosted A puppet show series.
So remember the line in the song?

(24:29):
And you could say it? Well, yeah, the Common Touch
music video had the puppets withthe puppets of eyeballs on their
hands. Yeah, those silly little.
And there's also the SHIT puppetshow.
Everything. Everything's a circus or a ship
puppet show A. Circus or Yeah.
And then they also had, oh, Jimmy Swaggart, who also has

(24:52):
that look like Wilbur does in this music video.
He had a Christian theme park that closed down.
So that reminded me when they said circuits.
That's right, I forgot about that.
Oh my gosh. So that, like, I feel like all
these, like, references are sortof incorporated in the song and
in the music video. It's so well thought out and

(25:14):
it's so perfect. And, you know, I remember Yousef
bringing up the people going into the darkness or coming out
of the darkness with pay and display when they're going in
and out of the elevator. It's like the same thing happens
in this music video, right? The people come out of the
black, out of the dark to PastorGold seeking salvation.
And I thought, yeah, there you go, there's some of that imagery

(25:36):
again. So they all really seem to
connect, tied together. Regardless if it's a trilogy,
credulogy, whatever you want to call it, they all seem to be
from the same universe so to speak.
I wonder how many Jim and Tammy Faye and Jimmy Swaggart videos
they watched to to prep for thisvideo.

(25:56):
It's a wow, that's something to think about.
And should we get into the song itself and some of the lyricism?
Because I feel like there's things that tie into this
character in the music video. But I feel like, and I don't
know if this is always just something maybe me and Angie do
where we tie this to real world, real life scenarios in Will's

(26:20):
life that maybe inspired writingthe lyrics to the song.
Did anyone else feel that way? Because I have my own sort of
interpretation of that or what Ithink it's perhaps maybe
inspired even all this, this whole entire theme.
Carried throughout I know you'vegot album got a theory on on

(26:41):
this, so I'll I'll let you run with that for me, and I totally
agree with yours too. But it almost feels like
something that everybody can relate to.
It seems like the video and the song is all about like this huge
internal conflict, like we all feel pressure to conform to, you
know, societal standards or whatwe think we should be this

(27:02):
perfect image or whatever. You see him, He looks in the he
looks in the mirror. I see my reflection and I don't
see myself at first he's lookingin the mirror.
You could tell he likes what he sees, right?
You know, he's adjusting his wigand giving himself little, you
know, little looks. But then as it gets further and
further through the video, he's looking at himself in the mirror

(27:22):
and he's making these weird faces and he's looking
distressed. And, you know, towards the end,
obviously, his health is starting to become an issue,
which some might say that heart attack at the end is maybe
divine intervention or the ultimate payback.
But I think it says a lot about society in general and how we
feel that we have to present ourselves and more or less a

(27:46):
general comment on people who will exploit other people for
greed and money and fame. I think there's a lot of that in
there. Yeah.
What you got, Leslie? I couldn't help but think about
just over this last year and a half of running these accounts
and seeing so many young fans say that Wilbur saved them, that

(28:09):
if it weren't for him or his music or his streams, that who
knows where they would be now. And I have to imagine that feels
like a lot of pressure. Or a lot of like.
It feels kind of like it's like, how would you take that?
Right? Like that wasn't his intention,
but he I'm sure he hears that a lot or reads that a lot.
And yeah, it's do you live living up to the expectations of

(28:32):
your followers? And I think that's sort of seen
in this music video. But then that facade starts to
crack. But I also think about, you
know, that the break that the band had, and Wilbur has said
himself that there was a period of time where he was, in a word,
to try to work on his mental health.
When he says getting out of the hospital, staying insane, see my

(28:55):
reflection, don't see myself, see someone else.
He was a little lost for a bit. You know, he wasn't feeling like
himself. And glad to see that he's back.
And it almost seems to be no better than ever.
But perhaps with the time when he wrote this or he's reflecting
on a time, all right, afflictinga time when you felt like this
is what inspired these lyrics, perhaps.

(29:17):
So that was just sort of my getting psychological about it
all. And yeah, that's what I got.
And, you know, the promising health, wealth and happiness is
sort of like that's what everybody seeks and people are
wanting and like you said. And.
And so that this character is promising those things.

(29:38):
And at the end of the day, that's what the what we're
looking for. And oh, also when he says
there's a line about you're saying I need this, can I
disagree or something to that effect.
I'm wondering if a time when he was feeling at his lowest.

(29:59):
And it again, it might not be specific to Wilbur.
It may just be humans in general.
Often times when people are likein prison or something, they
find God or find religion or they're just down.
Now people will suggest, why don't you go to church?
Maybe you need God in your life and that can help you.
And I wonder if there's somebodyin in Wilbur's life that
suggested got to church. You used to go when you were

(30:21):
younger or it helped me. Maybe it can help you.
And that could be part of this inspiration as well for the song
in this album. Those are all super good
observations. I really like I really like how
you related it to him and these people, you know, that have
said, you know, you saved me because he's only human, you

(30:43):
know, and we. You saved me, but I actually I
am not your savior. Right.
Yeah, totally. And talking about the whole, you
know, you always baptize a little too roughly.
There's blood in the water. Whatever change is happening
here throughout the character inthis song, like, it's hard.
This is not change that feels good.

(31:03):
It's rough. It's it's it's making them
bleed. It hurts.
Yeah. All right, so it isn't one
simple trick. No, at the end of the day.
Not at all. Dave, anything else to add or
did you get us? No, what I was going to add was
I don't need to do this because you 2 have the most wonderful.

(31:24):
It is. I sit there and I'm thinking,
yes, I can see that. Yes, I can see that.
You know, I've just written downa bit bit about Joe, you know,
very. Cataract eyes or blind eyes, I
don't know. Demonize.
Oh. Because I wondered whether he

(31:45):
got possessed. That's what I'm thinking, yes, I
think. You're right.
I was thinking he was like ill, but you're saying possessed.
So it was almost like an exorcism was happening.
There you go, Dave. You've got it, Dave.
I think you're on to. Something.
Who knows, I've been watching too much Paranormal TV lately so

(32:10):
everything's possessed nice. But yeah, I mean the video.
Absolutely loved it. I love how every single video
just goes on to the next one. And honest to God, I want the
noisy act boys to do the whole album.
I wish. Oh gosh.
Wouldn't you know what I mean? Include Elodie in that because I

(32:34):
know she was part of the IDK andI also know she's part of
Noisiak. And directed common touch.
Yeah, absolutely. But how good would it be to have
the whole album, maybe honestly,on a DVD?
Yeah, it's to me, it's like a rock opera, like Tommy, the
whole story. Yeah, totally.

(32:56):
I'd I'd absolutely love to see that and big up to the boys.
Am I right in thinking that? Do you know what?
I really couldn't find it. There was an article about them
and it said at the very bottom about they're done with the
three videos. Yeah, for now.
Yes, yeah. Right.
And we got very excited about the words for now.
So we're we're going to read into those two words.

(33:19):
Just so you know, guys, we're hanging on those two words.
We all are. We all are.
There's no definites in Lovejoy, only hopes.
For now, love that. So yeah, I I would absolutely
love to see this whole story continued.

(33:40):
Yes. Yeah, absolutely.
And we just love Joe's screaming, singing in that and
yeah, good. I was when I was re watching,
you know, for homework this morning, I watched the baptism
video like 5 times how they filmed it.
So it looks like Joe's rising up.
Oh, it really looks like he's rising up above Wilbur, and

(34:00):
Wilbur's like reaching up to him.
Like it's so effective. However, they did that with
lighting and angles. It really works.
It's quite simple to do realistically.
Just make someone levitate. Yeah, yeah, the chokehold.
Up he goes. You're going to need to recreate
that with Legos if it's so easy.Mr. What are them looking up,

(34:23):
Joe looking up not? Just looking up, it looked like
he was. Floating up.
Yeah, it looks like. He's living, eating.
Yeah, he's only doing a pull up,isn't he?
And they just film his feet. All right, We're.
Cutting this out because it's a little disparaging.
OK. And then when Will looked at
him, he's just stood on a milk crate.

(34:46):
That's what I'm saying. It's so easy to record that.
Do some stop motion animation with your legos and and recreate
that scene for me please. And I need a Lego that looks
like Joe with those crazy eyes. Yeah, do you know what?
We need the eyeballs. I know that's, I think there's a
couple of Marvel ones, but I've got a feeling they're the
different colour. I'll have to look at the zombie
ones I've got. Yeah, one, I know I put the Lego

(35:09):
figure out and a couple of people said, but but it's yellow
needs to be darker. I just want to work in yellow
because when I start getting into skin tones it's.
All No. It's all different, so I just
want to. Be yellow because.
Yeah, yeah. Yellow.
Oh my gosh. Man, people just never be
satisfied. Well, on that note, I think we

(35:34):
want to keep this a shorter episode, a more fun size, snack
size episode if you will. By this time next week, I'll be
in Chicago with Angie. I'm so.
Excited and ready for our show, our first show of the One Simple
Tour. Can't.

(35:54):
Wait, how simple is Chicago? Appreciate you can't wait, but
I'm so glad there's a six hour time difference because I'm
going to be in bed and you are going to be in the queue and I'm
going to be asleep, so I'm not going to get.
Beep, beep, beep. Every 5 seconds look at this.

(36:16):
Look at this how? Do you not like wake up to have
a Jimmy and look not look at your?
Yeah, right. Don't worry, we'll be.
We'll be messaging you anyway. We don't care.
I know you will. And I shall look forward to
reading it all in the morning. Well, on that note, thanks for
listening today. Send us any more questions about
gigs or things that you want to cover, and let's leave you with

(36:39):
a couple of quick tips for concert etiquette for those
whose first show this may be are.
You listening, Angie? Why are you saying that I have
bad concert etiquette, Dave? Yeah.
No, not at all. She's the she's our Mama that
speaks out and scolds us if we just no.

(37:01):
Yeah, we have what we have simple tricks for being a good
love and joyer at a gig. Yeah, we should just call it
that, right? I think that's.
Perfect, so let's see. Don't throw things on the stage.
Don't. Throw stuffed animals, bracelets
or otherwise. Underpants.
Yeah. Tomatoes keep your underpants
on. Yes, that's a good tip.

(37:24):
Let's see. Don't try not to push and shove,
you know, be courteous. Obviously, if we're all jumping
and bouncing around you, it's inevitable you're going to knock
into someone. But, you know, give each other.
Give a smile like, Oh yeah, if you can.
Screaming, yelling at the band members when they're speaking to
the audience on stage. Is not.

(37:45):
Enjoyable for those around you because we want to hear them
speak. Absolutely.
Yeah. You don't want to hear what
they're saying. Not someone next to me going
well, well, well. I love you.
Or 667 anyway. None of that.
That might be just an American thing.
I don't know if we had this discussion.

(38:05):
No, no, no, no, no no. It's all over this weekend.
06767 watching Strictly Come Dancing and they were giving out
scores 6, Kevin 6-7. So we're all sat there going
6767. If you want to say that during

(38:26):
your little private 2 minute meet and greet time to Wilbur,
have at it. But anyway, I don't want to
spend too much time on this. We've talked about etiquette
before. I don't know if there's any
other major things to address. Just being courteous.
That's all To your fellow your fellow audience members and
enjoy and soak up every minute. And that's all I got.

(38:49):
We will talk about our show nexttime.
Yes, have fun. Thank you.
You've all been to the gigs before, you all know you're
going to have fun, but you're all now going to hear these new
songs. Yeah, that's not so.
Excited. I'm so excited.
Freaking brilliant. Enjoy.

(39:11):
And can't wait to see Angie and give her a hug in person.
I. Know I'm so excited I can't wait
one more thing one more thing quick if you are going to a
show, make sure you drink lots of water throughout the day and
eat a decent meal a couple hoursbefore you go in when you're
excited it's easy to forget to drink your water and eat so.
Do those things. Because you don't want to pass
out inside because then you don't get to see the rest of the

(39:33):
show and it's sad. So and.
We've seen that happen. Yes, we have.
Yeah, it's sad. So eat and drink.
Thanks guys and have fun. Till next time, take care.
Bye. Bye.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
