(00:00):
Hello and welcome back for episode 7 of the Lovejoy Nation
Podcast. So what's new guys?
What's been going on since we last chatted?
Oh, it seems like forever. It's we last all chatted.
What's been going on with me? Not too much.

(00:20):
I did go down to Brighton and bumped into a super famous
person down there, but you can hear more about that.
Yeah. You can hear more about that
later. What about you, Angie?
Oh hey guys, it does seem like it's been a long time.
What have I been up to? Let's see, Pebble got her second

(00:41):
degree black belt a few weeks ago so that was pretty exciting
to see and of course I have been.
Thank you, Thank you. It wasn't me, but I'll take some
of the credit cuz I have to drive her back and forth.
So thank you. Of course, I've been on a all
things Summerfest roll here. So we went, we saw, we survived,

(01:03):
we came back and I will get intothose details later on in the
show. Some yeah, I just got back from
England this week after two weeks and I gotta say I I'm
looking forward to returning. I had the best time ever, but
I'll be talking more about that later on.
That brings us to the next segment.
On today's show we've got Lovejoy band news, including the

(01:26):
single drop and everything surrounding it.
I mean, what a month it's been, the music video, the promotion,
etcetera. We will talk all things
Summerfest, including an interview with Tik Toker and
artist Tyler Catastrophe, who was at the show, and he will
share his experience. And I'll be bringing up and

(01:47):
discussing Lovejoy related sitesthat I visited while out in
England because of course, I hadto include Lovejoy in the
vacation. So now it's time for Lovejoy
band news. And we'll start with Dave, who's
got some Lovejoy adjacent news to bring up today.

(02:09):
Yeah, thanks. As of yesterday, at this point
of recording, Cram Beats droppeda surprise half an album, if you
want to call it that, or an additional part of the album.
It's Empty Streets. I'll be quite honest with you,
I've been really busy today, this morning, and I have not had
time to listen to it. I don't know whether any of you

(02:31):
folks have, but by the looks of it, he's added a few additional
songs and turned the old sort ofMissed Calls singles, added them
all to an album. So the track listing is falling
for you. Slow dancing, missed calls.
Nowhere to go. Lost in thought.

(02:52):
You like jazz? I really need to do that in an
American accent. Distant memories and.
We haven't heard that, have we? What?
Dave with an American accent. No, we haven't.
No, Don't I need time to practice?

(03:13):
Don't time like the present doesn't stop you like doing an
English one. All right, Governor, no, I can't
do one. Not off the top of my head.
It's too much pressure. You got to do it like my
daughter, says Tom Holland with the Spider Man.

(03:34):
It's like Gee willikers. Cartoon character.
Yeah, it sure talks exciting like this, like you're really
hyped up about something. I can do a lot of accents off
the top of my head, but AmericanI I find difficult.

(03:56):
I could probably go cup of coffee, but that's about it.
Oh. That's like the New York.
Yeah, yeah. So Yep, happy for Cram beads,
happy for Mark. So that's, I guess that's the
whole complete album now. I guess he's dropping singles
all along. And then now this is sort of
like the finished product. Absolutely.
We'll have to do a little mini review next time when we've all

(04:17):
had time to sit down and listen to it.
Yeah, and the artwork is really cool again as usual, with a
little Easter egg beans and Ernie and they're.
Super cute. All right, and I believe we have
a lot to talk about with regardsto Summerfest, Lovejoy coming to
the Land of Cheese, and our own Angie got to attend.

(04:42):
Yes, Lovejoy. Lovejoy came to the land of
cheese on July 3rd. They had a headlining set at the
Miller Lite Oasis stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI.
And yes, I was there. It was, it was a great day.
It was super hot. But you know what, that was
fine. We met up with some friends, did

(05:03):
a bit of, you know, wandering around during the day, shopped
some Summerfest merch. I will say that Lovejoy did not
have any merch out until shortlybefore they're set.
And it was. Already stuff that we'd seen in
previous merch drops, so there was nothing new, no exclusive
merch or anything like that. I will mention one thing.

(05:23):
Yeah, I will mention one thing for people that do go to
Summerfest in the future, in case this is helpful.
They have a very strange and sort of complicated pit policy.
We purchased pit wristbands which granted us access to the
lower, probably, I don't know, 5-6 rows of the show.

(05:45):
But what they do is instead of having to wait in in the pit all
day, they cleared out about 7:30at night.
So everybody has to get out of the pit.
Even if you have a wristband on,they will make you get out.
And then about half an hour later, they will let people in
again in an orderly fashion. So in case anybody goes to
Summerfest in the future, just something to keep in mind.

(06:07):
It was really confusing. We had to ask about 5 million
different people. They all told us different
things. So but that, yeah, that was fun.
So that's how that went. But it was great to catch up
with some friends. It was really nice to meet some
new people and see a few faces Ihad not seen in a while.
The show started about 10:15 at night.

(06:28):
And it was, oh, man, everybody was counting down to the right
till 10:15 on the dot. You could just hear it 1098 and
then and then when it once it, yeah, it was great.
And once it got to 1 and they weren't out there, everybody
started chanting. Lovejoy.
Lovejoy. Yeah, it was great.
They started out with normal people things.

(06:50):
They sounded absolutely fantastic as always.
As always, the people that were right there in the front and,
you know, farther back. Even still, it was a really
super high energy crowd. And you could tell this sounds
sort of strange, but really you could really tell that the band
and especially Will kind of seemto feed off of the crowds energy

(07:12):
and I think they really appreciated having that there.
So that was really neat to see. They did play with Rob as my
witness and Perfect Blue Joe happened to have a perfect blue
T-shirt on which he was very proud of and was happy to show
the audience. Alan Osmanson was there as their
trumpeter. He absolutely killed it.

(07:33):
One thing that was a highlight for me was getting to hear the
end of Foxholes. They changed it up a little bit
and I love it because you can hear Joe a lot more.
You can really hear him sing, and he even has this little
screaming part at the end, whichwas really cool.
So he's got a great voice, yeah.He had his time to shine.

(07:53):
I haven't heard it yet. I kind, I don't know.
I guess I'm waiting for, to see it live in person.
But I'm sure I won't be able to wait that long and I'll have to
give in and watch the video and see, see it for myself, hear it
for myself. Yeah, 'cause I always loved the
end of foxholes. So I'm, I'm a little nervous, I
guess to hear the change, but you said you liked it so.

(08:14):
I love it. I love it.
Yeah. It does kind of showcase Joe a
little bit more, which and, you know, we all know he has a good
voice and we've heard them talk about that before.
So, yeah, it was good to get some, to get some Joe in the mix
there at the end. And boy, what?
Let's see what did Will have to tell us.
He did say that they had tried Wisconsin cheese curds that day.

(08:34):
So of course the crowd loved that.
Yes. So he, he called it warm cheese
and he was like, you know, I wouldn't say I would serve.
Some warm cheese. Well, we do in Wisconsin, in
Cheeseland. It's cheese curds.
Dave, do you know what cheese curds are?
Deep fried cheese curds. Have you heard of them?
He doesn't want to try. I have heard of cheese curds.

(08:57):
Yes, deep fried. Actually, that could be all
right. But America is not the home of
cheese. Dude, are we going to have this
conversation again? Every time.
Every time. And you know what that reminds

(09:17):
me? Will was talking about talking
about where he grew up, and gosh, I can't remember what the
name of the place, the city or the town was.
Yes, that's it. That's it.
And he had mentioned that and hesaid, well, that's kind of like
like the cheese land of of England or whatever.
So yeah, yeah, it's not. You're shaking your head.

(09:40):
Cheddar, Somerset. OK, OK.
No, there's a lot of flattish gram.
There's a lot of farms and dairyfarms around that way around in
Suffolk. OK, well, I'll, I'll let, I'll
let you and we'll talk about that one.
He did mention Kurds. Everybody was, you know, happy
about that. He did mention that, that it

(10:02):
was, it was great to, you know, see some new and familiar faces,
which was pretty cool. He did confirm that the debut
album is coming out later this year.
He said it only took us 4 bleeping, although he didn't say
bleeping only took us 4 bleepingyears to make because we've been
making all these EPS. So, but it is definitely coming

(10:25):
out this year. So that is some exciting news.
And it was really fun to read a few of the reviews after the
show. I've been trying to think about
how to put this into words the show.
But I think some of the some of the phrases from the reviews
kind of really sum it up perfectly.

(10:46):
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which is the top newspaper in
Milwaukee, actually praised Summerfest for bringing Lovejoy
to town. They really, you know, they're
like props to Summerfest for this was clearly a big score in
booking. This band is amazing, you know
that they called the set tight and energetic with a fiercely
loyal crowd. And they described it as

(11:06):
communal and electric. And that's, I mean, if I had to
describe it, that's that's how Icould describe.
I mean, I would describe it to you.
Everybody there was just was just there for Lovejoy and
everybody you know, they they knew the words to all the songs,
even the unreleased ones and just the energy, especially in

(11:26):
that pit there was was really amazing and like the Sentinel
side really just electric. There was another great review
from a paper called on Milwaukeeand they talked about how the
band really seemed to feed off of the crowd energy.
And that was another thing I really noticed too.
They really just did. It almost felt like the crowd
and the band were fuelling each other, which was really cool.

(11:50):
Having had one thing they mentioned it, how is it was a
really huge deal to headline a Summerfest show without having
had a debut album out yet. I mean, if you think about it,
it feels for some of us, it feels like we've been following
these guys for a really long time, but they don't even have
an album out yet. So it's.
True. No full layer.
Yeah. Yeah.

(12:10):
Absolutely no. So it is a big deal.
And you know, they said we feel like we're watching a band that,
you know, has great things aheadof them and they're really on
the incline. And honestly, that's I mean,
that that's really how I felt too watching them.
It was really high energy. There was a great vibe.
The guys looked really happy to be there and as always it was a

(12:31):
great show. They they don't disappoint.
They put on a great show every time.
And, you know, it's one thing for us to gush over a
performance like you are as fansand like obsessed fans, but to
have these articles, these reporters say the same thing or
say put in even greater words than we could is even more

(12:52):
meaningful. And I like that some of the
language about the crowd being electric and the communal
feeling and all of that, the energy, these are words that
were used to describe them in 2023 and by reviewers all over
the country and the world. So absolutely.
So there's it's like nothing happened.

(13:14):
You know, there's like there hasbeen no, even though there's
been some time off and a break and some quiet time and a reset,
it's like. They're back at it, just picking
up where they left off and not skipping a beat.
And it's very exciting to see what's coming for them.
It's absolutely great. And like you said, to see just,

(13:35):
you know, some non biased opinions from people who who
say, yeah, I mean, these guys are terrific.
And I know I think it was again, the Journal Sentinel ranked
Lovejoy out of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of
artists. They ranked them among the top
25 performances of. Of all of Summerfest, which
again, is, you know, that's huge.

(13:57):
So you know, they're, they're here.
They're legit. I think other Kelly shouted from
the rooftops. More.
I think that needs to be put outthere more that you've mentioned
it and reminded me of that fact.I feel like I'll, I'll have to
put something out there to, to have that get some more reach
because if that matters, that means something.

(14:17):
You know, all these things add up.
Absolutely, and I hope the band was able to read those reviews
too. I mean, if that was me, I would
have been over the moon, you know?
So I hope they got to see those kind words 'cause they do.
I'm sure, I'm sure Buster or something looks into this and it

(14:38):
was on the Reddit read this. Yeah.
Yeah, I think you had it on the Reddit as well.
Yeah. So hopefully they caught it on
there. But, you know, I think we all
thought that there was going to be some additional shows in the
area, but no, they just popped into Summerfest and popped back
out and it was just kind of. That was interesting.
Yeah. Other than, you know, that

(14:59):
acoustic gig, which we'll talk about in a little bit.
It was just kind of in and out. But I think it was huge for
them. I think it was a really great
stepping stone in their career towards, you know, coming back
and and showing everybody what they're capable of and that they
do belong here and they do deserve this.
So it was a great night. Cool, what?

(15:21):
What would you say was your favorite song of the night?
The Fall is always amazing. The song just, it translates so
well live and just the energy ofit is it's always a great song.
But for me, I absolutely adore Perfect Blue.
I know it hasn't been released yet, but just from hearing it at

(15:44):
the Rock for People video that was taken, I I love it and being
able to hear it live with my ownears was absolutely fantastic.
I think those two, those two were the standouts for me, but
I. Was expecting you to say Rob.
Yeah, well, you know what? Rob was good too.
It's hard. Did you get any reaction to your

(16:05):
shirt, your shirts that you made-up?
You know what I I had about? OK, so for listeners.
To explain that. Yes.
To explain my shirt, we had shirts made that said on the
front they said I'm with Rob. And then they had the Lovejoy
Nation on the back. So there was about 3 just random

(16:28):
people at Summerfest. Their name was Rob.
And so they wanted to take pictures with us.
So like, this is really funny. Yeah.
Awesome. Yeah.
Awesome. Yeah, so that was pretty funny.
And you know what? I did have a couple people at
the show ask like if they were available for purchase.
So. So we'll have to, you know,

(16:49):
we'll have to discuss that. But yes.
So Leslie, thank you for making up that very clever phrase.
I know that's the name of your Spotify Rob streaming playlist,
so thanks for that. You're welcome.
Can you always count on me for corniness?
Well, Speaking of corny, I guessit doesn't get any cornier than

(17:11):
the chicken Nuggets that were handed out as well, Yes?
We we have these amazing chickenNuggets.
They're if you've seen the Lovejoy movie, you'll know what
I'm talking about. These fake chicken Nuggets on a
key chain with some ketchup. Fake ketchup.
I guess I'm looking at one rightnow, actually dipped into it and

(17:31):
we've got this really cute little guitar pick shaped tag
that's got the Lovejoy Nation logo and all this other fun
stuff. So if you were there and I saw
you, hopefully you got a nugget. But if you weren't there, if you
haven't been to a show yet, all three of us I would say, and in
the coming soon's, whenever there's a tour or another show

(17:52):
announced, we will have these with us.
So don't miss your opportunity to come up and say hi and snag a
nugget. As my husband would say, a
bloody nugget. You think so?
A. Bloody nugget.
Oh yeah, that could go both ways.
Like English, you know, Like, yes, a bloody nugget.
Bloody. Nugget.
Give me a bloody nugget. So that's what she say to Dave

(18:16):
if you're in the UK and you see him at a show, right Dave?
Give me a bloody nugget, yeah? Like that?
Yeah. Yeah.
Please put please on the end. Where's me nugget?
Yeah, I tell you, I love these Nuggets.
What a great idea. I've got a whole box in front of

(18:37):
me. Yeah, I really have, actually.
But yeah. Better hope we get to give these
away. Yeah.
And yeah, I really do. I hope to give these away.
So hopefully very, very soon I may be able to give some away.
Surely it's got to be my turn next, is it?
I think so. I I think it probably is too.

(19:00):
We shall see. They're from the UK so it makes
sense. Which brings me to my trip to
the UK. It's a lot of segue.
I dragged my family around to all the things I could come up
with ahead of time and put in myitinerary.
Lovejoy must seize And I've alsoput together a TikTok that

(19:26):
includes 15 of them to see if y'all could figure out how these
pictures and videos relate to the band.
And that's been a lot of fun getting people's reactions to
it. So I would just, I had to go to
Wetherspoons and have a glass ofwhite wine.
That was mandatory. White wine and Wetherspoons.

(19:50):
If you don't know what that is, look it up.
Your funk and Wagnalls, as my dad would say.
So that was a must do. And it's funny because I found
out that Wetherspoons is sort oflike this umbrella company for
many restaurants. So I think, I don't know what,

(20:11):
they all have funny names like the Fox and the Unicorn or some
nonsense like that. And it was very hard to find a
part of the menu that actually said Wetherspoons on it.
But for you all, I did it. I had to see the smash.
It kind of happened upon it, andI was glad to have the smash

(20:31):
burger where Ash and Will supposedly met.
I mean, that's like Paul and John Lennon meeting, you know,
change the course of history. It should be a National
Monument, shouldn't? It maybe I'll have like a plaque
on it one day. Blue plaques around Brighton.
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, Will walked by here.

(20:53):
Yeah, This is the route he took to get to the train every day or
something. I don't know.
So let's see some other items. Brighton Electric, which is
really cool. It's a recording studio,
rehearsal space, venue housed in.
It looks like maybe it's a called Brighton Electric because
it was an electric company plantor power plant or something.

(21:15):
What do you think Dave has that?Yeah, it's.
I know where it is. I'm just trying to picture it.
It probably was something like that, yes, Yeah.
It looks like they took over like an.
Old, Yeah, an old, an old power, yeah.
And that goes along with Wetherspoons.
A lot of the Wetherspoons, depending on what building

(21:36):
they've taken over what that building was previous, is
generally related within the title.
OK. Yeah.
I can't remember what the one wewent to was, it was in Brighton
and it had two floors so I was hoping it was like the song 1.

(21:57):
I know you were at table 53. Yes, because this crazy man over
here, Dave, sent drinks to our table.
Oh that was so cool. How fun is that though?
Because you order through the app on the phone and you put in
a table number. So then Dave says, what's your
table number? So it's almost as if we did it,

(22:20):
but he did it from his phone. You could just type in.
Yeah, I can do it to any Wetherspoons in the UK.
You were actually lucky because you were going to get 6 portions
of peas. I like regular peas.
The mashed peas taste like baby food so I don't want that.

(22:41):
Mushy peas. That's a really cool concept
that you can order somebody something off of it, like an
app. That's that's wild.
Do we have anything like that here in the States?
I mean, maybe it's not meant forthat, but it works like that,
right? I'm sure it's not commonly done.
There's, I'm certain it's a Facebook page or a group, and

(23:01):
you join this group. And so for argument's sake,
Leslie's puts on there, I'm at table 53 and blah blah blah.
Do your best and then people around the country just send you
all sorts. You could you could no way end

(23:23):
up with 25 portions of chips. You could end up with 30
portions of peas. Oh my God, it's a whole game.
Really, I like that. So the waiters must know this
game. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
At the end of the day, it's money into Wetherspoons, so
yeah. Yeah.
You're right, and as long as it doesn't cost the person at the

(23:45):
table unexpected money. You know the one we went to is
called the Post and Telegraph. Yeah.
So that might have been an old post office.
Yeah, sorting office, something along those lines or very close
to it. Well, it was what was like kind
of sad was on the dessert menu, they had American pancakes.
I was like, what does that say about us?

(24:08):
Just like in the London Zoo, they had an exhibit of American
cockroaches and the exhibit was meant to look like a filthy
kitchen. And I was like, wow.
Yeah, we're on cultured swine over here, aren't we?
That's our wildlife. Pancakes and cockroaches.

(24:30):
Welcome to America. Yeah, have a nice day.
Brighton Electric was cool. I went in to see if they had
shirts or stickers or anything and I really caught them off
guard. They said someone comes in there
like once a year and asking for that stuff.
So this poor guy, I asked for, you know, if he had an extra

(24:53):
large balloon sweatshirt and he disappeared for like 10 minutes.
And this other kid at the counter is like someone helping
him. Like, yeah, they're, I think
they're lost somewhere. I feel bad.
He comes out like, covered in dust with like, this one bright
blue sweatshirt. He's like, it's the only thing I

(25:13):
could find in that size. I'll take it.
Awesome. Yeah, but it was so neat.
Like you hear the music and things going on.
They have a schedule on the counter of all the spaces and
who's in them at any given time.It was packed full.
It was rock in that place. And from across the street you

(25:35):
could look in the big windows and you can see the walls and
recognize the walls from Lovejoypictures and videos of the, the
wood with the, what do you call that, Dave?
The tiles that it looks like they're made of wood with the
holes in them. They're soundproofing tiles.
OK. But it looks like, it looks like

(25:57):
the color of wood. I don't know.
Yeah, resembles that. And you could see it from the
streets. So I was like, Oh my gosh, that
may have been where they were all.
That's. So cool because they had a wall
of the albums that have been recorded there and they had, oh,
you're all right up on there. So that was neat, of course, to
take a picture of it. Was that like the blue walls

(26:19):
that the wall that we see in thepictures?
Yes. Oh, how cool.
That was fun. And then Dave and I, we got to
meet up. I'm that am I the?
Famous person you were referringto.
Yes. Well, I met someone famous too.
His name is. Lego Dave the.
Bricksnapper my house, yeah. And we went to Small Pond

(26:46):
Studios. Yes, we did.
We are. Traipsed across Brighton,
Lovejoy lore, Lovejoy wiki, Angie Small pond.
Remind me what happened there? They performed there I believe.
I don't know, but I know they'veit's a part of Lovejoy history.

(27:11):
And what was neat was there was two young kids at the counter in
there, if I'm remembering correctly right, Dave.
And. And I mentioned we were Lovejoy
fans and we do the podcast and that's why we were popping in to
see if they had any, you know, stickers or anything.
And they said, oh, Lovejoy, that's the the YouTube.

(27:34):
Right, the singer's. That YouTube and I was like,
yeah, yeah. And he goes, oh, I think I
remember when they played, the line was like around the corner
for like blocks the cue. Yeah, you've never seen such a
large queue. Right.
I'm sure he said queue. Yeah.

(27:55):
Oh, wow. And so that was neat that that
made an impression, was memorable.
Let's see, they did Pebble brainthere.
It was recorded there. There you go.
There you have it. So that was neat.
So that was part of the Lovejoy tour, you know, just other
things, you know, the, the West Pier, seeing that and seeing

(28:21):
model buses, like the poles in front of the West Pier where
Mark plays at the drumsticks on the poles.
That was neat. So I, I put that in my little
video too. And just seeing the seeing the
sea every morning when I woke up, I just fell in love with
that city and can't wait to go back.

(28:42):
I could see why it's so popular and beloved because I feel like
it's not like any other place I've ever been.
Brighton is is. It's not like any other place
I've been. It's a massive city, but on the
sea it is known as London by thesea.

(29:10):
But it's quite a special place, really.
Yeah. And it really is quite special.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, and Cape Cod, nothing
really competes. Those cute little streets that
wind around in Brighton, the colors, the flags, like
everywhere, just just awesome. If you ever get a chance to go

(29:33):
and and check it out, it's it's definitely worth it.
The pebbles are bigger than I expected on the beach.
I knew it was pebbly but I didn't think the pebbles were as
big as they are. They're more like river.
A lot of them are like river stones like.
Smooth. Stones, yeah.
I have to say I lived vicariously through you through
all of your photos and videos. It looked like you had the most

(29:55):
amazing time there. It's just.
Beautiful. It's altered my brain chemistry.
I need. I feel like I know, Dave, you've
had like something about Irelandwith you, right As like.
Yeah, yeah, yes, I I might feel at home when I'm in Ireland and

(30:15):
I can't explain it. It is very, it feels very
spiritual, but I feel at home when I'm in Ireland.
So I'm guessing you're saying you felt really at home in
Brighton? I really did.
I really did. I've spent a lot of time in New
York City and Brooklyn things and thought wonderful, you know,
thought I liked it there a lot or I thought, oh man, if I was

(30:37):
younger Brooklyn, I'd be there or whatever.
This was different and being on the water.
I know they say it's like a neuro divergent thing to like be
near water, be soothing and calming.
I think it's a people thing. I don't know that it's a neuro
divergent thing but could be I'ma little.
Different. No, it's not.

(30:57):
I think it's just a human soothing, calming thing, right
to see. The.
Water and to see it every morning out your window.
I could sit there for hours and just look.
And I noticed that because of where we were situated in our
flat, even if it was cold and windy and miserable out, like
there was a one or two days where it was almost like a

(31:20):
hurricane out there. People were still, even if
they're bundled with a rain withrain gear, sitting on that
beach, just looking out at the water because there's just
something about it. And just walking the
neighborhood in the morning and getting coffee and going to the
coffee shop and the lady at the counter remembers what you order

(31:43):
every day. And they're sitting down with a
newspaper and their their real cup and having their cappuccino.
And it was almost like back in time, sort of.
And that's why I think my daughter loved it so much as
well. It's because it's, it felt
cozier and more old fashioned Y and just people were just, I

(32:07):
know it has a reputation of likecrazy stuff too, but I just, I
adored it. And I just love the fact that
after a day or two, we knew exactly how to get around.
The the transportation in England as a whole is amazing.
Getting around, there's like barely a learning curve.
We walked most of the time, but we also took trains and buses
without any issue. They were always available.

(32:30):
Yeah. I, I can't wait to go back at
Angie. I feel like we need a girls trip
back there. I think we need to make that
happen. You know what?
Put that right at the top of my bucket list.
That would be amazing. Absolutely amazing.
I'm trying to think of ways to start like honestly, I'm not
even joking. Like make some extra income to

(32:51):
put aside for, for these kinds of things because I, I, it's
like not a want, it's a need. I need to go back.
For me, the closest sort of place to Brighton in England
would be Camden Town. I don't know whether you weren't
there when you were in London. I wanted to go to Camden Market.
Yeah, yeah. The whole Camden Town, it's

(33:12):
very, very much like Brighton, the whole vibe, but not by the
sea. OK, right.
So that's probably the closest. I mean, I'm sure there's parts
up north that people will argue with, but yeah, Brighton it's
quite and plus because of the the.

(33:34):
Heat. The unexpected heat, the fact
that you're on the sea. We had all the windows open,
wide open and the breeze just blowing through was so awesome.
Like, that's how I'd like to live.
Not with air conditioners and closed up, you know, just be
able to have the the breeze blowthrough when it gets hot.
There's nothing better tell you.Oh my God.

(33:57):
Yeah, we've, we've stayed in hotel probably half a mile away
from where you were on the sea front.
In fact, it was pretty much opposite the West Pier and it
was November or something like that and it was absolutely
blowing a huli so. We it was a what?

(34:20):
Blowing a huli. Explain like.
A hurricane, Hurricane. Winds.
Yeah, just really windy, fierce,blustery.
Yeah. Blustery.
Yeah, Yeah. And we donned our woolly hats,
put on our coats and just went out beanies and just went out on

(34:42):
to the West Pier. It was about 8:00 at night,
pitch black, Absolutely Fabulous.
There's something. It's the sea air, isn't it?
And it wasn't like I, you know, I go to the Jersey Shore all the
time. It wasn't like seaweed, gross
sea air. I'm sorry, New Jersey, but I

(35:02):
feel like, yeah, but when as youget down the shore and you have
your windows down, it's like more like a seaweed kind of
smell. And I don't detect you don't
have that in Brighton. It's just fresh I feel like.
Yeah, I'm sure they do after about 3 or 4 days of hot
sunshine and not such a high tide, but there's something

(35:24):
about that seaweed smell as well.
So, Leslie, did you have any seagull encounters while you
were there? No, but right.
Across from us, we went to like a little like seaside little
shack for lunch and we were under an umbrella and I guess
that helped. We were OK.
But across from us is a a mom and her daughter.

(35:47):
And they were both, you know, the daughter was adult and they
were having lunch and a seagull came by and snatched something
from her, the daughter's plate. And she like never recovered.
She was so like shaken up that and flustered.
Even her mom, who was like an older woman was like just

(36:09):
laughing and fine with it. But this, the daughter was so
like shake, as I said, shaken upthat they kind of just quickly
paid and, you know, got left. But yeah, that was a close that
was close by. They were, they do, you know,
dive down all around you and arenervy like that.
But yeah, when I met Dave for lunch, he didn't want to sit.

(36:32):
No, no, no, no. Should we sit outside?
Nope. Nobody's having my pizza.
That was so good, that pizza. That really was good, the good
lady and and Lily, she, she's like, we're eating there again,
right. So we've all agreed that.

(36:52):
Yeah. Fatto Amano or something like.
Batman is it? Yeah, yeah.
Fatto Amano, fatto mano. It was like wood fired or
coal-fired or something. Wood fired stone.
Put that on the list for next time.
Wow. Definitely, that's good.
Definitely if I'm allowed to join you on your girls weekend

(37:13):
or whatever. Yeah, of.
Course. Well, of course.
I guess the last thing I want tobring up to wrap this up is Dead
Wack Social. Dave and I took a walk over
there and we're a bit sad because not only did they
repaint the outside, but they'vechanged up the inside.

(37:34):
And Dead Wack Social for those that don't know is where they
filmed the concrete music video and where they did the teaser
for I'll Look Good When I'm Sober when they're Sitting.
Sitting inside the. Word vinyl behind them on the
wall. Yeah, that's gone.
Yeah, I was gutted, to be honest.
I know last time I went down there, you know, I said, oh,

(37:57):
they've painted the outside, butI never popped in.
We both popped in and it's just completely changed.
You would never know it looked like that in the past.
It wasn't like a mate, I don't want to put them down, but you
know, as fans we wanted to see what we remember from those
things and this changed. This was disappointing and they

(38:17):
seemed very happy with the changes.
But yes, I know the bar where hereached over and pours himself a
beer though, that was the same in front.
So yeah, I made sure to get thatin pictures because that we
could match that up. That sounds sacrilegious.
Like you don't mess with that, right?
Well, I'm very fortunate to havegone in there.

(38:40):
I think it was last year before the change and I went in there
on my own and just sat and had apint and just took it in.
It was quite quiet in there. It was around lunchtime.
It was just a little bit sort ofspecial and it's just a shame
that we weren't able to perhaps go in and sit and look.

(39:03):
Mm hmm. Right.
But, you know, it may be anotherplaque on the outside the
building one day and they'll have to restore it back to that
original look, you know, so fanscan come in and take their
picture there. Dave, don't you have that
immortalized in Lego format? Yes, yes, just that little

(39:26):
scene. Yeah, That vinyl wool, Yeah.
Yeah, and we didn't get to go tothe.
I forgot to go to the laundromat.
The laundromat is in Bristol. Oh, OK, then that wasn't going
to happen. Hence one of the boys posted it
just after they'd finished in Bristol.
I think that wraps up that I could talk about England for

(39:49):
days, of course, but I won't. Today we have with us a special
guest, Tyler Catastrophe, or as I like to call him, Tyler, The
Creator. From TikTok, Instagram, you may
know him as talented artist who's been creating jewelry and
art to sell online as a way to raise money to move from Texas

(40:12):
to Brighton. And that is a venture I can get
behind. So Tyler, thanks for coming to
the show today and for talking to us not just about that.
The real reason we have you hereis because of Summerfest.
And we understand you unexpectedly were able to attend
Summerfest. Can you tell us more about how
that went down? It was insane.

(40:33):
First of all, I don't think it'sthe sort of thing that anyone
could have expected because me and my roommate will sometimes
just tag each other in random Instagram giveaways for fun
because you never think you're going to win.
But like what if? And so Summerfest was Thursday,
Friday, Saturday, Monday afternoon.
I get Adm saying I've won tickets and front row passes to

(40:56):
see Lovejoy and my roommate was working in the other room on a
call and I was like, do I wait to tell you?
Do I tell you? Now?
I think if I wait I'll die. So I knock.
I wait patiently for about a minute while they're on a call
and I show them and we freak out.
They're slapping their desk. It's great.
And I leave the room and then I hear them almost scream and I go

(41:20):
back to see what's wrong. They have also won tickets from
the same giveaway separately. So now we had four tickets, 4 GA
passes and four front row passes.
Z Lovejoy. And so we're like, right, right.
That's not the thing that happens.
And so we are like, it's a sign,it's a sign, it's a sign.

(41:43):
We have to go. And because I've also been
putting money aside from my business and the goal to move to
England, I had a little bit of money left side.
I could afford the tickets, he could afford the tickets.
So we got a last minute flight, we got a last minute hotel.
We booked the tickets Monday afternoon and we're on a plane

(42:03):
by like I think we were at the airport at 4:00 AM Tuesday
morning. So when I say last minute, it
was extremely last minute, yeah, but so worth it.
It was insane and so much fun. Who did the giveaway?
Who gave the tickets away? It was bars and rec in
Milwaukee. They were within walking
distance from the festival grounds, so it was pretty cool.

(42:25):
Oh. Nice.
I think I followed them because I saw they were involved in the
whole thing. I.
Think I think I actually found that post because you were
posted on your story. So thank you Circle moments.
That's really good to hear. It's amazing that this really is

(42:45):
good to hear Tyler have. You you're doing good work.
Thank you so much. Live joy before or love joy or
live joy? I have not.
This is so the only time they'veever played Dallas or anywhere
near me was a couple years ago they played the Granada.
And for reference, I have never not been able to get tickets at

(43:05):
the Granada. I went and saw Ale Storm, which
is like a pirate metal band of the day after bought tickets day
of. It's so easy.
They were the only sold out showon the calendar for months and
months and months. And so I didn't get to go.
And so this felt like a little bit of divine repayment maybe I
don't know. But so this is my first time

(43:25):
seeing them and it was wonderful.
Awesome. What was the what was the most
like exciting song to hear or doyou have one that was like?
I, I love them all, I'm going tobe honest, but The Fall Live
just gets me. I love a good bridge and that
song has a wonderful bridge. Yes, I was going to say the
fall. That's always the highlight to

(43:45):
me. It's so good.
I understand why they save it for last, but man do I wish
they'd play it several times in a row.
Right, we repeat players, I meantheir music over and over all
the time, so they should. Know that.
Read our minds, please. It's what we want.
When we say encore, we mean likethat song again.
Yes, exactly. So was there any other special

(44:11):
moments within the gig that you were like hearing Rob, you know?
Second time. Played live.
That one was good. I was really excited that they
played Perfect Blue, the new song that hasn't been like
teased at all yet. That was a surprise do.
You like it? So much so so so so much I there

(44:33):
are there are no words. I am very rarely rendered
speechless. But I'm so glad that my roommate
recorded the entire set for me because otherwise I would be
completely lost. Like a blur, right?
Right, exactly. I'm two in the moment sometimes,
so I had to like go back throughthe videos and.
Like these are. These are great.

(44:55):
I got to see the Warsaw Wiggle live.
That's crazy. And the.
Portrait Portrait doing all the hand moves.
Gosh, yes, I love Portrait of a Blank Slate.
I've covered it several times, but it's it's just I can't say
words. I'm too.

(45:16):
I'm too happy about it. I know it's like your face hurts
from smiling the whole time. Exactly.
Exactly. It's a workout.
Aw, Oh, he was. It was adorable.
You just showed it off. What did you think of the how is
the crowd that you were by? Like how is the the vibe, the

(45:37):
people? It was honestly pretty good.
I was a little worried about it and just cause I mean, obviously
there's always that worry in theback of your head, but I feel
like everyone, the hit was like split up. 1/2 was the people who
had won tickets and the other half was the people who had
paid. And so the people who had paid

(45:59):
was a much larger crowd because I guess they stopped giving out
tickets at some point for like the winners.
So your side was very loud and very energetic, very much in it.
And my side, I think, was a lot of people who wanted to be
there, but also a lot of people who are just there because they
had the tickets. And that's part of what it is

(46:21):
too, right? At a festivals like you always
hope that people will get to seethem that haven't seen them
before and come away being like these guys are awesome.
Exactly, Yeah. Yes, that was so nice of you.
And I, I offered you my extra front row tickets and I'm glad
that you didn't need them because we were both kind of on
the same place. But I ended up giving them to a

(46:41):
couple of like, random people. And they're like, I'm really
glad you did that. I really love this band.
And I'm like, yeah, mission accomplished.
That's awesome. What a great line.
So from Leslie posting from you,to picking up that post, to
winning tickets, to giving 2 tickets away and creating new

(47:05):
fans. Fabulous.
That's just really, I don't, that's just kind of the person I
am really. I like creating connections and
like, not like, what's the word I'm looking for?
I just like putting people whereI think they'd like to be in
like the nicest way possible. But it's fun for me.

(47:26):
I, I like people. I'm a very big people person.
That's nice it comes across you, comes across like Angie said it.
Thank you. Ray of sunshine or something, we
were chatting about it, this, you know, recording today and
just so looking forward to it. Yeah, your posts just give off
that happy energy. And you know, on social media,

(47:47):
as we all know, it's not always that way, so it's nice to have a
glimmer of light. That is definitely my goal.
Did they look like you imagined in real life?
Oh. Gosh, that's a good question.
So I saw Mark first because he was kind of hanging out behind
the scenes, a wall. I don't know how, but they found
me was playing and I noticed himand I waved and he waved back

(48:09):
and he got like really excited to wave back at me.
I was like, oh, hi. I was like, hi, you're just as
excited as I am. Wow, definitely looks it.
I actually have. He gave his setlist to my
roommate and my roommate gave itto me, so I'm really happy about
that. I love it.
Nice. But when they actually got out
onto the stage, I was like, man,the camera does not do anything

(48:34):
justice, ever. And of course, I was like, I was
like, right in front of Will. And so it's just hard eyes the
whole time, but you see all of them moving, like, individually
and the way that they sort of gravitate around each other.
You're just like, man, you know what you're doing.

(48:56):
And I love that for you. You have found your groove, and
you're just finding a better oneas you go through the entire
setlist. I'm just.
Wow. Yeah.
I love watching them interact just, you know, like look at
each other and like they can communicate, you know, just
looking at each other and. Joe with his.
Beer. Did he have his beer next to him

(49:16):
like he usually does? Honestly, I don't think I could
see his feet. I don't think I could see.
I think there was like APA like right in front of.
Oh, I see. Yeah, an amp or something.
So is will your favorite? I don't like choosing favorites,
but my roommate would tell you yes that's.
A horrible question, isn't it? I mean to be fair, like I love

(49:41):
them all. I think they operate as a unit
beautifully. There is no Lovejoy without any
of them. But to be fair, I was a fan of
Will like long before I think I found him in like 2019 from SNP
Live. So like there is a little bit of
a bias there. But again, I love them all

(50:03):
together. I love Lovejoy as a whole and
individually, but yeah, Will's pretty great.
Oh, he is. Ash is the hottest, come on.
Ash is wonderful. I think she's great.
Skin. Yeah, that's what Dave likes to.
Talk about his skin care, yes? I met him in Brighton and we had

(50:26):
a chat. In case you hadn't heard that,
In case you. Didn't know.
OK. And I'm stood there and I'm
thinking, my God, Ash, you've got lovely skin and I so wanted
to ask him. Yeah, you got to ask him.
You got it. Next time.
Next time. That's the first question.

(50:49):
That's the, I mean, he told me alot of stuff.
But you know, the first questionnext time is.
What is your skin care routine? Yeah.
Oh my goodness. Good for him, honestly.
He's a cool dude though man, he's got that look.
He just he. Just he looks like a bass player
and I love that. Yeah.

(51:11):
He's so rock star. My roommate Andy was like, man,
he wore shades at night. I was like, I'm pretty sure
there's the reason for that, buthe also looks cool doing it so
it's fine. I know and we, we saw him in
Brooklyn. He, I don't know if he still
does it. He had like a star, like,
sticker on his face or something.
A Black Star? Yeah.

(51:32):
I wish I could get away with just putting stickers on my face
in real life. Just walk through a Walmart.
I mean, if you're in. A Walmart you probably could.
Honestly, probably, especially in this small town.
And actually going to Brighton, you all you know, no holds
barred. Oh for sure, once I'm in
Brighton, I'm living my best life.

(51:53):
I do not care. But we can't wait to see that.
When are you hoping to get to Brighton?
In a perfect world, it would be by the end of the year.
Right now I'm about halfway to the financial side of the goal,
and once I know I can afford it,I'll be able to do all like the
nitty gritty to figure out when it's actually possible because I

(52:15):
do like qualify for a specific visa.
I've got the vague details ironed, but hopefully, hopefully
by the end of the year, I don't want to be here anymore.
I feel you man. Texas is not for me.
Brighton looks like such a just like a really cool like fun

(52:37):
colorful like viby city. I feel like you would fit in
there perfectly Tyler like watchout Brighton.
Here comes Tyler catastrophe. Thank you are.
They ready for you. I hope so I I will prepare them
as much as I'm possibly it can. I don't know, like I, I was

(52:58):
originally supposed to move to England a couple years ago.
I was supposed to move to Bournemouth, which is also on
the South Coast, but then the job I was supposed to take fell
through at the very last minute and so kind of a tailspin.
So for the past couple years it's been getting my feedback
under me and then figuring out anew plan.
And so I was like, man, I don't have to move to Bournemouth.

(53:20):
I can look at other places and so I am a huge like Brighton
Hove Albion fan. The football club love the
Seagulls so, so, so, so much. I love them so much.
I used to like you. Ouch.
I'm a Southampton fan. Oh, maybe if you stay in the

(53:41):
Premier League you'd be fine. I regretted that immediately.
There's going to be a smackdown on this bucket.
Yeah, Angie and I are like, I don't know what they're talking
about, but this is fun. At least you're not.
Chelsea, it's fine. I mean, first of all, you

(54:03):
mentioned I was going to move toBournemouth.
Really. That's only 30 miles away from
me. So you taught me with
Bournemouth and you taught me with Brighton and the Premier
League. Dear, Oh dear, I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry. I'm only 60 miles away from

(54:23):
Brighton. I'm watching you train.
Right away. I'm from Texas.
I know how to keep the eyes in the back of my head.
I'm not from Texas, but you know.
Yeah, yeah. Don't, don't mess with Texas.
It's not the eyes in the back ofyour head you want to watch out
for. Oh my gosh, what the hell.

(54:50):
Dave's having fun today. I love y'all, this is fun.
So how did you get started making jewelry?
And you do painting too, right? Like.
I do, yes. I painted this thing behind me.
That's beautiful. Yankee.
I worked on it for like a year and the border is all made out
of beads. Oh.

(55:13):
But so I originally was taught how to make little like
bracelets here and there by a girlfriend I had in high school.
She's wonderful. But I was always a musician.
Music was always my really only goal in life.
And I wish it was a better story.
But unfortunately, like about six years ago, I was hit by a

(55:34):
car. And so the, IT was kind of the
perfect scenario to have me makeit out a lot, but it completely
totaled my rib cage for a very long time.
And so I was no longer able to sing.
I wasn't able to play the trumpet.
I wasn't able to do the things that I had built my entire life
around. I ended up having to drop out of

(55:56):
college because I lost my financial aid and all the stuff.
And the only thing I could do without causing myself even more
pain was move my hands. And so just to keep myself sane,
I started making even more bracelets and then I got sick of
those and started going a different kind of insane.
And so I branched out to other necklaces and the chokers that

(56:18):
I'm kind of known for now. And so over the past really 10
years, but mostly six years, I've sort of built it into this
thing that is now what I'm knownfor essentially and is funding
basically my entire life becauseit is like my full time job now.
But it has been quite the road, especially because now a lot of

(56:40):
the patterns I use and the designs I make are fully me or
like heavily altered from patterns I found online here and
there. But it's been crazy.
I did not think that this is where I was going to end up when
I started. I know you have a huge following
on TikTok. I saw 41. 1000.

(57:02):
Followers, I think. 41,000 Yeah,I'm pretty sure.
That's insane. And you know, my daughter and I
were looking at were looking in your shop the other night and
she was just like, my gosh. Like you're.
You're a rubber ducky choker andyou're stars.
And moons. Choker and the Lily of the
valley, they're just, they're beautiful.

(57:24):
How wonderful selections, I really like them.
The first choker I ever made wasactually a Sunflower 1 and I
gave it to one of my best friends who is now the mother of
my godchildren. And so after that I started
branching out mostly with the mushrooms at 1st.

(57:44):
And so now that I've got like over 50 other options ingested
chokers. And so I can't stop thinking of
new things to make, which I think is mostly my issue, but
it's been, it's been super, super, super rewarding just to
see which ones people like the most and see which different
kinds of people like different kinds of things.

(58:07):
I love people. And so using it as a way to
interact with people even from like behind the screen is super
fun for me. Yeah.
I bet. So like give us a plug here.
Where can we find you on TikTok?Where could we find your shop?
But wherever. But my Instagram is Tyler

(58:28):
Catastrophe. Same with Blue Sky.
Instagram is the only place where I don't have that handle,
so it's letter I letter X. So I'm Tyler Catastrophe because
one guy has it. I have no idea if he's even
active anymore. I messaged him one time asking
if he would give it to me. He never responded, so it's
five. That was kind of a weird thing
anyway, but I sell through coffee.

(58:52):
KOFII. Also have a print shop through
Threadless. I'm everywhere.
Nice, I get that. I am too or I try to be.
She even brought she even turns up in Brighton.
Yeah. A wonderful place.
Brighton is very, very cosmopolitan.

(59:13):
Anything goes, everything goes. It's so fantastic, really is.
I've been told by several peoplethat it's the gay capital of
Europe and I love that for me. Yeah, I mean, I'm not being
offensive, but we went down there for Pride and it was

(59:36):
bearing in mind I'm a married man and I'm straight.
But we went down there for Prideand it was spot the straight
people. But it's so much fun.
So much fun it was. A mermaid parade last weekend.
Did the mermaids learn how to walk?
Was it in the ocean? We saw some walking mermaids.

(59:59):
Were you on a boat? We actually missed the parade,
unfortunately. We saw some mermaids after the
fact. Yeah, yeah.
Oh. Gosh.
They were floundering across theroad.
Flip flopping. Around dad joke.
It's funny. I mean adjacent topic.
I saw somewhere that in the Rob video, there's this little like

(01:00:22):
Easter egg where there's a radiostation sign in it, and if you
actually look up the radio station, it's like, it's like
Brighton's gay radio, blah blah blah, which I thought was
fantastic. Yes.
Yes. I didn't notice that I was not
paying attention. Yes, I need to look at the

(01:00:44):
scenery. Yes.
So yeah, like, super cool. We got to make sure they're
playing Lovejoy on that station.Who do we need to pay?
This is how Angie and I think, all right, we got to write some
requests. Now get.
It you're on top of it, this is like a full time job for you IT.
Kind of actually is. I don't know when Leslie sleeps.

(01:01:06):
I don't think she sleeps. I think she's a vampire and
doesn't need sleep. Hey, people are allowed to have
secrets. Bear bearing in mind I'm six
hours ahead of you time, right? So and Angie's on the same time
timeline. I've gone to bed at say 10:00 PM
my time. I've woken up at 6:00 PM at 6:00

(01:01:28):
AM and they're still chatting and I'm like.
Oops. I've slept and then I get up and
it's like good morning, goodnight.
That's it. Yeah.
And then I have to wait 5 or 6 hours to answer.
I need to. Catch catch up on all the crap
we've been yapping about. But Leslie, for some reason, she

(01:01:51):
doesn't. I never reply because I know
she'll answer. So.
It doesn't matter what time of the.
Day. No it doesn't.
It doesn't. I could message 9:00 AM, which
is say 4:00 AM her time. She'll answer and I'm like, what
the hell are you doing up? Oh, my phone went off.

(01:02:15):
OK. Note to oneself, never do that
again. No, it's never my phone going
off. My phone is quiet all the time.
It's my brain goes off. You just get a like a Spidey
sense like I need to check out. I have like 280 LB dogs and
three cats in the bed with me and a husband half the time.
So sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night and you're

(01:02:36):
like, let me just see you if I'mmissing anything.
Grind never stops for you, does it?
It never stops. The Lovejoy grind never stops
for Leslie. She is just on it.
Always. I guess it's a bit like gaydar.

(01:02:57):
OK, Dave, you're going to. Have to explain this.
One tell us. All right, Dave, he doesn't know
how to explain that one. Oh I love being gay.
This is hilarious. Oh my gosh.
Well. No, but the one time it was Dave
wrote me at like 3:00 in the morning and said that there was

(01:03:18):
like a merch drop on Lovejoy online and they hadn't announced
it yet, but he happened to go onhis phone while, you know, a
break at work or something. Yeah, I went on the phone.
I got to. Buy merch before everybody else.
Because then I posted it that they was like surprise merch on
the website before Lovejoy even did.

(01:03:38):
Sorry. Lovejoy, there's the man on the
inside. Yeah, see, he's he's always
thinking it's Yeah, it must be the Lovejoy.
Oh, new phrase. Good one, Dave.
Oh. I'm going to have to sit sit and

(01:04:03):
explain Gaydar to her for the next 4 hours.
Sure, sure. Just you're stunk at it.
Well, it's been great having youon the show today.
And. We look forward.
To speaking to you again. Definitely.

(01:04:26):
Absolutely other things, but yes.
I'd be honored. Thank you for having me, this is
so much fun. Thank you for coming.
You're a delight. Thank you.
Quick question, will you see Lovejoy again?
Absolutely, I will find a way. That was too much fun to not
repeat myself. It doesn't get old.

(01:04:49):
Excellent. Never.
Clearly, I mean, obviously they're going to be putting out
new songs, so it's not like it'sgoing to be the same show every
time. And even if it was, I'd still
go. Yeah, doesn't stop Angie and I.
No, no. Two nights in a row in Brooklyn.
Yeah. I hope that we run into you at a
show and I get to talk to you more than like 2 minutes across.

(01:05:11):
You know the pit, but you know, if you ever find yourself coming
back to Cheese Land, I would, I would love to hang out with you.
Absolutely. We shall see.
I actually really enjoyed Milwaukee so I will probably
return at some point. I enjoyed your posts about it.
Thank you, I don't usually post on my story that much but I was

(01:05:31):
having too much fun. Brighton's better than
Milwaukee. Oh, I can.
I can almost guarantee it. I haven't been there yet, but I
shall. I would.
It will happen. Well, thank you so much, Tyler.
We really appreciate it. Thanks for taking time out of
your day to chat with us and. Of course, Dave talk.

(01:05:55):
About gaydar and whatever. Else, I'm sorry for insulting
Southampton. I'm sure they're great when
they're not playing Brighton. See you then.
Bye. Oh man I love y'all, thank you
so much. Oh that was so great having

(01:06:19):
Tyler on. I can't wait to have him back on
for a future episode. Absolutely brilliant guy.
Fabulous, fabulous. Yes, I'm looking forward to
having him back. So yes, thank you, Tyler.
And now I guess we should get into the other exciting part
about Summerfest. Before they headlined the Miller

(01:06:41):
Lite Oasis stage, Love Joe was invited to perform at a bar that
afternoon and performed an acoustic set for a very
exclusive audience. And we even know a few people
that were able to go and be in attendance.
Yeah, we had two friends that were lucky enough to win
tickets. FM One O 21, the local alt rock

(01:07:02):
radio station in Milwaukee hosted the acoustic set.
You had to win tickets through them.
So like Leslie said, we had two friends that were in attendance
and one of them was kind enough to shoot some video for us.
So I believe that we will have alink to that video in the show
notes once this releases. From what I'm told, there was

(01:07:24):
only maybe 50 people or so in attendance.
I was able to talk with Sarah, one of our friends for for a
little bit on this. It's sounds like they played
five songs. Portrait of a blank Slate, Call
Me what You like Taunt and amazing acoustic version of with
Rob is my witness and sex cells. They had Alan accompany them on

(01:07:45):
trumpet. And I'm, I'm really jealous of
anybody who was able to go to that.
I didn't qualify to attend, but it looks like it was an
absolutely amazing time, doesn'tit?
Oh my gosh, it was so cool how like intimate of an event it
was. And I loved the little
interviews in between the songs that the video hosted.

(01:08:07):
I'm not going to lie, given the choice, I'd rather be at that
intimate one because that's personal.
Almost right, right. You know, it's that's would have
been pretty amazing to be at. Our friends both mentioned that
they, they didn't do an officialmeet and greet of sorts or
anything, but both of our friends mentioned that they were

(01:08:30):
able to at least, you know, givea comment or two to pretty much
everybody that was there. And I know one of our friends
got our her picture taken with Joe, which was really cool.
So, and they got to talk to Elodie for a little while who
was there filming the entire thing.
But so, yeah, it was, you know what, I agree with you, Dave.

(01:08:50):
If I would have had to pick one or the other, I think I would
have had to have gone for the acoustic gig too, even though it
was short. It's just it's kind of a once in
a lifetime thing. Absolutely, yeah.
I would have loved to have been at that.
Did Sarah talk about what they spoke about in between songs or
the experience in general? One of the things that Sarah had
mentioned was that they were playing right in front of a

(01:09:12):
shuffleboard. I don't know if everybody was
familiar with the shuffleboard, but it's like some silly thing
on the floor that, you know, it's like a recreational game or
whatnot. And and the host mentioned
something about a shuffleboard and Will is like, what's a
shuffleboard? So that was kind of funny.

(01:09:32):
It's cute. And they did have a little
banter. I think in in between, I think
there was some more tacos, you know, cheese and cheese curds.
But. Right.
Well, I, I remember the part where asked about the new album,
how he said it was going to be spooky.
Scary, right? Yes.
I think that was Joe maybe that had mentioned that the album,

(01:09:53):
somebody asked him what the album was going to be like and
they said scary. So I don't know what that means.
I think what it means is that they should release it like on
Halloween and then come back to Milwaukee and do an album
release party on Halloween. Dave.
Looks like he agrees with me on that.
I think New York City, it makes more sense.

(01:10:14):
Greenwich Village, they have a really awesome Halloween parade.
Oh, there we go. Yeah, wonderful.
Sounds great. Fabulous.
You'll be here. Hey, just another reason to come
fly out by us, Dave. Sky is the limit.
Nah, just the accent puts me off.
Where was it said that he's they're doing 11?

(01:10:35):
Someone said they're doing 10 or11 songs.
Did you catch that are going to be on the album?
Yeah, I remember seeing that, but I don't know where it came
from. I don't remember it was from,
there were a few people that I think maybe saw Mark after the
Summerfest show. I don't know if he said that.
Possibly, maybe, but I know thatwas floating around out there.
There's it's I know they said Wasted Summer was not going to

(01:10:58):
be on the album anymore, so I'm there must be another one or two
that have been put on the back burner as well.
I don't know which ones they are, but guess we'll find out
hopefully soon. Shall see.
Yeah. All right.
So now let's listen to Sarah's interview with Angie.

(01:11:44):
Did you get to have any fun? Interactions with the band.
I think there was a oh. My gosh.
They had AQ and A sessions with the radio DJs and answer some
cool questions. That's.
Amazing. Well, I'm so.
Glad that you had a good time and we were here living
vicariously. Through you, there's a few

(01:12:05):
moments. So Ellen is here with the band,
Ellen's here. So after the set there was, you
know, so we just kind of got a small, I'm not really sure if
that maybe it's like the visual part of the album.

(01:12:26):
Maybe, maybe it'll. Be like a Halloween.
That would be cool. So maybe they're trying to try
Milwaukee. Thank you so much.
I really. Appreciate it.
Thanks for getting that, Angie. Thank you, Sarah.

(01:12:49):
Yes, thank you, Sarah. It's it was really great to talk
with her and I apologize. There's we did this like right
in front of the Miller Lite stage.
So there's probably a little background noise, but I think
she just kind of reiterated whatwe all all had just kind of been
talking about, how it was just such an intimate and once in a
lifetime sort of experience. And it sounds like they had a

(01:13:13):
wonderful time, so I'm happy forthem.
Yeah, me too. Are you jealous?
Yes. Are you exactly?
Yeah, to get to an acoustic gig would be like, wow, really wow.
I'm hoping this is, I'm hoping this is a sign that they'll do
some more things like this in the future because I mean, let's

(01:13:36):
face it, this was a great littlepromotional event for them too.
People that you know, had won tickets.
There's probably a lot of them that didn't know who Lovejoy was
or hadn't heard of them before. So I mean great promo for them
too. Absolutely.
Over the past month we've had Rob released.

(01:13:57):
Are we all still loving it? Obviously, Angie, you've seen it
live, but. You'll be next.
You'll be next, I'm pretty sure.It was fantastic live.
Yeah. Yeah, I've been listening to it
on repeat. Yeah, on repeat.
I've put it on a little, a little three song playlist, as I

(01:14:20):
said on the previous one, and I just keep playing that and it's
great. But we've had lots of little
pretty much every day isn't it every day.
We've had a little promotional video come out over the past
three weeks. That music video is so freaking
good, but I, yeah, I love that they're taking little bits of it
and posting those videos and pictures from it.

(01:14:44):
They've been posted a few littlebehind the scenes bits, which we
always appreciate. Hopefully that's leading into a
Lovejoy, etcetera, you know, behind the scenes filming of the
music video. That's got to be down the Pike,
I'd imagine. They've been keeping us well fed
on social media. It's, it's been Absolutely
Fabulous to sort of, you know, everyday Instagram notification.

(01:15:07):
And Alt Nation on SiriusXM had them on their Advanced Placement
list for the week that it came out.
So that's big. They've played the song about 9
times or so on there. We need to keep sending in
requests to Alt Nation to keep it up there.
Get it on the Alt 18, their weekly countdown of the top 18

(01:15:28):
most requested songs. That would be huge.
And like we always say, radio station requests always welcome.
We'll be putting out more information about how to do that
and recommended stations to contact.
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but these are all
important ways to help the band in addition to streaming and

(01:15:48):
buying downloads of the songs. Absolutely.
And it's, I mean, it doesn't take much time.
A lot of these radio stations, you can send a text message or,
you know, an e-mail. It's easy.
Yeah, even a WhatsApp. And they're, they're looking for
interaction, too. It's, you know, it helps them.
They want audience involvement. Yeah, all help each other.

(01:16:11):
They. Do, I mean, you know, gosh, this
was a few weeks ago already before Summerfest, but I, I just
fired off a few random text messages to some radio stations
across the country. And there was one in Illinois
that they hadn't heard it before.
They're like, OK, I'll take a listen.
They actually texted me back andsaid this is a great song and
they played it. So I mean, it works.

(01:16:32):
We just have to just have to keep at it.
I think so. I know there's a station in
like, North Carolina. I should give them a shout out
at some point. They play Call Me What You Like
like every three hours. Really.
I need to tell them they have more songs than that.
They have a brand new song, The Ruin in the mix.

(01:16:55):
You like them? The Rome in the mix.
They might not even know. They might not be aware.
So yeah, to catch the ones that are already playing Lovejoy, to
let them know that there's a newsong that's just come out,
that's what we got to do. That's an excellent point,
Leslie, and I'm not sure that there are not.
Everybody knows that this song is out.

(01:17:16):
Like I said, one or two of the radio stations I talked to did
not know anything about it. And so, yeah, you make a great
point. If they're already playing
Lovejoy, why wouldn't they play Rob?
Just got to hit him up. Exactly, I even encountered a
few people on TikTok that haven't heard of the movie,
didn't know about the movies yet.
You know, they missed that one or two posts that get put up

(01:17:37):
about these things and then theythey don't know they exist.
So I'll be making more Tik Toks using footage from that to get
more people over to the YouTube channel to see those.
Because two hours of Lovejoy is like, unheard of, right?
Coming from Lovejoy, not, you know, poorly recorded,
screaming, yelling, bouncing concert videos.

(01:17:58):
Yeah, I came across with a few people at Summerfest that did
not know about the movie, and it's funny.
You hand them the nugget and youknow immediately if they know
what it's from. And so, so it was like a great
Segway. I'm just like, go check out the
Lovejoy movies and then you'll understand what what the nugget
is all about. I'm like jealous that they get
to watch them for the first timebecause what a thrill to sit

(01:18:20):
down and know you have like 55 minutes video to watch.
That was exciting. Yeah, I need to give those a
rewatch. They're fun.
And then we and again the music video for Rob, you could watch
it like five times in a row and see something different each
time. You could read into it

(01:18:41):
differently each time. Absolutely.
I know we've gushed about that before, but yeah, talk about
yeah, it's, it's fantastic. So we'd love to hear your
thoughts on then Rob and then the single, the music video.
Questions or comments related totoday's show.
We're always looking for your feedback.
You can e-mail us at l.vjypodcast@gmail.com or

(01:19:03):
comment wherever you listen. We read those comments and we
love hearing from you and we mayeven mention your comments here
on the show. As always, check out our
website, lvjynation.com for links to all the places you can
listen to the podcast and our blog posts, which are fun on
their own. You never know what you're going

(01:19:24):
to post about there, so definitely check that out.
And links to anything we've talked about on the show will be
there as well on the next comingepisodes.
I don't know that we have an exact topic for the next
episode, but things I have written down, things we'll be
covering, you know, in future episodes, we'll have Tyler back
for another edition of our mental health series.
Are you all right? So I'm looking forward to that.

(01:19:46):
Yeah. Anything that Lovejoy might come
out with between now and then, we'll definitely be covered and
talked about on the next episode.
I know a few ideas we've been knocking around.
Where? How to be a great fan,
interviews with industry experts.
I think maybe we've got a few things cooking there and like
Leslie said, answers to your questions.

(01:20:07):
So go ahead and send those in. We, we love to hear from you.
And also like Leslie said, we read all of them.
Every single one. And your suggestions too, I
guess you said questions and feedback, but suggestions as
well. Someone suggested today that we
do some sort of trivia episode, which sounded really cool if I
could figure out wrap my head around how we can make that

(01:20:28):
work. And wasn't there a suggestion
for a fan art episode? Fan artists episode, I think
we'll definitely pursue that as well.
Thanks for listening, hope you enjoyed, look forward to hearing
from you, and until then, we'll be swimming in spite of the

(01:20:49):
apathy. See you later.
Bye guys. Take care.
Bye. Bye bye.
Oh my gosh, good timing.
