Shaun and I are not huge Valentine’s folks, although neither are we the type who grumble about “manufactured holidays” and “forced love.” We typically view the holiday as a reason to get special treats for our kids and sneak in a yummy meal together.
This year, though, Shaun thought it would be fun to make it a weekend away.
And it was! But also, parts of it weren’t.
And there were plenty of opportunities to both learn from our mistakes and some rather unfortunate circumstances out of our control and also to remember anew the basic principles of not overreacting, giving each other grace, and keeping the main things the main things.
Hopefully, you enjoy this Valentine’s Day Weekend storytime and come away encouraged to invest well in your marriage, whatever circumstantial hiccups come your way.
