Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hello and welcome to the first bonus episode of Madam
.
You know, when we're puttingthese episodes together,
sometimes we have to cut outcertain stories, not because
they're not amazing, becausepretty much every story that
Julie tells is amazing butusually we just have to cut it
because of editing or story flowor time or whatever.

(00:27):
So we thought we'd releasethose stories as a series of
bonus episodes.
So for this most recent episode, one of those stories was about
how Julie met her biologicalfather.
It's a great story and wewanted to give you a chance to
hear it.
So here it is.
We wanted to give you a chanceto hear it, so here it is when
my mom got a job.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
She got a job at some cocktail bar or restaurant or
something and I was alwaysafraid she wasn't coming home.
So I'd sit in the corner with ablanket in there and I'd say is
my mom coming home soon?
And I was thinking, what if shedoesn't?
He wouldn't answer, he didn'ttalk to me.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Did you?
Were you always like rebellious, always.
How were you rebellious?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Anything I wasn't supposed to do.
It seemed like I did it and mymother said, no, I did it Anyway
.
Yeah, I'm sure it was a lot tohandle at that time?

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, I think it was because your mom was very strict
Roman Catholic, I know she wastrying to make up for her
mistakes.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Because you've got to remember, in the 50s, I was
born in the 57th.
You have to remember that.
Well, you can't remember, butI'm telling you One day you
remember.
No, but it's just that they didnot like it was unmarried, it
was just like a, you know.
They did not like it wasunmarried, it was just like a,
you know.
Oh, my god, she's not married.
She had a baby and blah, blah, blah.

(01:49):
Yeah, illegitimate child yeah,it was like a really big deal,
yeah, every time when I'm takeyour bastard with you, you know,
with my mom and like, and Iknew I was feeling like maybe
this guy is, I hated, hated himin a way.
But then I realized once mygrandmother told me he's not
your father anyway.
And I was like he's not andshe's like no.

(02:09):
And then I met my fatherfinally, you met your father.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
How was that that was ?

Speaker 2 (02:16):
weird, because he raised show horses in Kentucky.
He was a musician.
She met him.
But then I guess, you know, Iwas maybe 10 or 11 when I met
him, when my grandmother told meand immediately I wanted to
meet him, right, and the firsttime he didn't even show up to
meet me.
So I was real disappointed.
But then I finally met him.
He took me to his place inKentucky, alexandria, kentucky,

(02:39):
and he said oh, this is my wife, this is I'm showing, I'm
showing her how to ride horses, right, I'm training her to ride
horses, and doesn't she looklike our daughter Susan?
It was like, oh my gosh, I wasnot supposed to say anything,
right, I was not supposed to sayanything that he was my father
because he was married with afamily.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
But did he know that you were?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
his daughter.
My mom called him and said shewants to meet you and so he took
me to.
You know, ride horses and stufflike that.
But I guess he gave lessons andstuff like that.
So he told his wife oh, I'mgiving her lessons, riding
lessons and this.
You know, doesn't she look alot like Susie?
That was his other daughter, and I did.

(03:22):
I looked a lot like her, butthey never knew.
And I did.
I looked a lot like her, butthey never knew.
And that made me sad too, because they were my brothers
and sisters, Right, but Icouldn't say anything.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
What was your?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
dad, like Did you enjoy him?
Yeah, I met him a few times.
He was just like.
You know, raised horses was amusician before he was.
You know, knew a lot of people, hustlers and stuff like that,
but he was not.
You know he knew a lot ofpeople, hustlers and stuff like
that, but he was not, he wasokay.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah, so you had other siblings as well.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, on both sides His side didn't know and my
mom's side knew.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
What did your mom and grandma think about you meeting
him?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
They're like all men are no fucking good.
They're all no good.
The only one one thing blah, blah, blah.
And if you want to meet yourfather, meet him.
You know, but don't expect muchbecause you know, man, period,
because if you say anythingyou'll ruin the whole family.
You can never open your mouthabout stuff like that now.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
We'll be releasing another bonus episode early next
week where Julie tells thestory of fleeing to California
before the cops arrested her inthat incident at the Hustler
Club and how she took on a newidentity and some of the
different characters that shemet and became involved with
