Mindset Blueprint, andmore at xpres.me/podcast,
and here's the show.

Derek (00:30):
Rock and roll.

Macarena (00:32):
So hello there, Derek Seagrief.
You are someone Iconsider a dear friend.
You're very wise.
I think of you as analchemist, but how would
you introduce yourself?

Derek (00:46):
ha.
Ha.
The short version orthe longer version?
The short version is likeAAAA I'm an alchemist,
I'm an artist, I'm anauthor, I'm an astrologer.
And that's enough.
Basically, I do manydifferent things because
I'm a bridge builder.
So I bridge build betweendifferent disciplines.
And I've been working inthese areas since I was

(01:08):
, 16, and I'm now 70 plus.
So that would give you anidea of , what I would call
a long track record behindme of living what I teach.
So yes, that there'sthe simple introduction.

Macarena (01:21):
Absolutely wonderful.
So it's always a pleasure.
We have a lot offun in our sessions.
I see you at least once a yearfor my astrological reading.
And what I love about it isit's really like a roadmap.
It's a map And it's almost theway I see it is, it helps to see
what's coming up in case I wantto take advantage of it, so if I

(01:42):
was planning a trip, I'd like toknow where the rest stops are.
Okay, that's an opportunityto go to the bathroom, get
something to eat, right?
With astrology, the way Ithink of it is, what are the
energies in play so that I maycapitalize with them and not
get too frustrated when thingsare not going the way I expect.

(02:04):
How do you see Astrology?

Derek (02:06):
Okay.
Since I've been workingwith this for 45 years,
then again, I'll give a kindof very brief definition.
I always start my sessionsby reminding my clients that
everything is energy so Ican describe the horoscope
in terms of planets in termsof archetypes, but I prefer
to say energy because thehoroscope is an energy portrait.

(02:27):
And when we understand it'san energy portrait then this
is what we would call a frozenmoment of time that describes
your set of instructions.
And throughout the life, thenthere are stages in which this
set of instructions gets tappedinto and unfolded and the
potential to express is there.
So my job is to honorwhich planets are dominant

(02:51):
for that person right nowor the next year or so.
And to get them tocooperate with honoring
those planetary principles.
Because this is the waythat you're going to
get the most out of it.
So periods of opportunities, periods of challenges,
and yes, you described it.
Well, it is a landscape andif you have an awareness

(03:12):
of the landscape, then youcan make better judgments
about many things.
So yes, I think thatas a diagnostic tool,
there's nothing like it.
And in my 70 odd years, I'venever met a retired astrologer.
And I don't intend to retire.
It'll be an ongoing thingin the next lifetimes.

(03:32):
And all the people that Imeet, when they're working with
astrology, it's never endingfund of growth and awareness.
Because yes, we have thesame archetypes, but we
use them very differently.
So an astrologer can be avery good friend, a coach,
a mentor, a guide to helpyou utilize your energies
in the best possible way.
So yes, there's yourbrief description.

Macarena (03:55):
appreciate it.
I appreciate yoursuccinct and your wisdom.
That's one of the things Ireally appreciate about you.
So when preparing for this,we were thinking about the
question of How to bringmagic into the everyday life?
But before we can even gothere, how do you see magic?

(04:18):
I use it a lot,like metaphorically.
But I know you approach itdifferently, so please tell
us , What is magic to you?

Derek (04:28):
I could say, you ask what is sex to somebody or what is
love to somebody you're goingto get many different responses.
So again, it's the same ifyou ask me, I'll give you
my personal definition.
But other people would havetheir experience of what
they understand by magic.
So , there's manyways to approach this.
First, I would say, goingback to this theme of

(04:48):
everything is energy.
And because everything isenergy I think you and I, when
considering what would be avaluable topic, worked out
that what could be the mostimportant contribution that
such a podcast could have.
We can talk about athousand different things.
But for me it's so essentialto bring the magic back
into our everyday life.

(05:10):
Cause otherwise it tends to bevery predictable and very, a
stereotype and very mundane.
It's like a black and whiteTV compared with a color TV.
So my way of working with magicis to make this bridge between
the different dimensions.
To be a bridge builder andintroduce these energies

(05:32):
into the everyday world.
So there's much,much more color.
There's much, muchmore , richness.
If we lose the magic in oureveryday life becomes extremely
boring and extremely predictableand magic is not that.
It's most unpredictable, but you can work with
it in a conscious way.
Scientific definition of magicwould be, and I'm quoting what

(05:56):
I wrote down here, The scienceand art of causing change to
occur in conformity with thewill and the imagination.
Now, I can expand upon thatmeans, but it is a science,
which is the knowledge ofworking with energy and it
is the art, which is theapplication of these energies
and it's to create change inthe environment to occur in

(06:20):
conformity with how you areworking with the will aspect
and the imagination aspect.
This is a big subject tocome into but basically,
the will is, for a simplerdefinition, it's the Cinderella
of modern psychology.
And the will is the masculineaspect of our psyche.

(06:41):
The ability to externalizewhat is already available
inside us, but the ability, masculine, to bring it forth.
That's masculine, that'sthe will dimension.
But before this can occur, you need the feminine aspect
that nurtures a thought form,a mindset, an emotional value.

(07:01):
The feminine, we callit the imagination.
Imagination, look aroundyou, in your room and where
I'm sitting, everythinghas been created by someone
who used their imagination.
So they converted something,on an invisible plane and then
brought it through the wheeland made it physically manifest.

(07:22):
So we do this all the time andmost people are very unconscious
of this process, but I willassure you and our listeners
that we're moving rapidly nowinto the first degree of the
age of Aquarius, which Everydegree lasts about 72 years.
So in the first degreeof Aquarius, and you
look around, you can seeeverything is speeding up.

(07:42):
Everything is about the abilityto bring a thought form out
and into manifestation muchquicker than ever before
in our history as humanity.
This is so importantto understand.
my kids will tell me thatI'm like a dinosaur when it
comes to the digital world.
And they're probablyquite right.

(08:03):
Because I was one of thosewho had some of the first
computers that were ever made.
And we're now talkingabout, the early 70s.
So I had to hand draw allmy horoscopes, imagine
hand drawing a horoscopeand , now our computers are
incredibly sophisticated.
So my computer at themoment is four years old.

(08:23):
That's considered,old in modern terms.
But computers nowadays witha touch of a button, I can
go back, several thousandyears if I want or go forward,
however many years I want.
Now that is technologicaladvancement, but that's
magic as well, I was, withfriends who had the first
mobile phones I come fromScandinavia, I live in Denmark.

(08:44):
And the first mobile phoneswere huge walkie talkies,
walkie talkies that wereso heavy and we felt that
they were so sophisticatedbecause we could be out in
the forest in Norway and talkto someone, around the world.
Now, that's what I mean bytechnological advance shows
magic in an obvious way.
The power of thought mademanifest on the physical plane,

(09:08):
but we are enteringinto an age where
you and I and every personout there is going to learn
much more effectively whatthey can do in the everyday
life to create magic is to bemuch, much more conscious of
this bridge building ability.
We have to be conscious.
If I have a physical problemand you go to the hospital

(09:30):
and doctors, then you knowwhat's going to happen.
They're going tolook at the symptoms.
They're going to treatouter effects, the symptoms.
They never, ever, amen, they don't deal with causes.
So if you want to understandmagic, you've got to work
with the inner and the outer.
You've got to lookat the causes.
You then are the motivatingcause, which then affects

(09:53):
change on the outer level.
And everyone can learn this,And it's something that I
truly encourage everyone to beenthusiastic about this because,
The majority of peoplestill believe that the
outer world outwardlyconditions the inner life.

(10:15):
And you can see environmentalfactors, cultural factors,
the outside reality affectswho we are on the inside.
Yes, one can't deny that, butthe degree to which it's going
to affect you and the degreeto which your inner life, your
inner world can affect changein the outer, this is the big
problem for majority of people.

(10:35):
They don't see that they canaffect change on the outer.
And if you can't seethis capacity for your
inner life . To bemore of your inner life
on the outer level.
Then you're not going to bea magician, Because this is
what it means there are manythings that I don't like
about our world and then i'vespent many years, in my way for

(10:55):
working with magic to affectchange by creating space and a
place by which those energiesand those mindsets and those
emotional values that I haveon the inner level are made
manifest on the outer level.
so believe me when I say thisis magic, but most people will
not see it in that way becausethey still give too much

(11:15):
power outside of themselves.
This is, normalattitude is self doubt.
But the normal mantra thatmost people say is yes, but
the yes, but mantra yes,Derek, I would love to do that.
But I'm not a yes, but man,I'm a yes, man, or I'm a no,

Macarena (11:34):
Yes and.

Derek (11:36):
Yeah, because again, this is magic, because
think about in ceremonialmagical terms, this would
be called the magical oath.
magical oath is ifyou say something,
then it's very important thatyou deliver that if you've
made a statement, if youhave witnesses, it may be
on the physical plane, otherpeople, but on the inner

(11:59):
planes, there are plentyof Invisible witnesses to
what we say and do this isalso an awareness of magic.
So if I'm saying something.
And I'm not doing it, thatlessens my magical power.
But if I say this is whatI'm going to do, and I do
it, whatever it is, it canbe something very small,
like promising my kids wego to a fairground tomorrow.

(12:21):
And if I keep on not doingwhat I'm saying, this
neutralizes one's magical power.
Now this is soimportant to get right,
that if you want magical power, then first look at the power
of sound, what you're saying,And don't say anything that
you don't mean and don'tchange your mind about things.

(12:45):
Yes, we're human, but it's soessential you support yourself.
Anything that you say is yourgoal and you want to do, then
you've got to work towards that.
Now, again, most people will have some
issues about their willingnessto believe the vision.
But , If you set into motion, this is what I want to do, but

(13:07):
you have self doubt, then ofcourse, we know the answer.
It's already therefrom the beginning.
If you have self doubtabout it, then it's not
going to go further.
You've already sabotaged it.
So that's why, most magiciansor all magicians have this
ability to be very one pointed.
And When I sayone pointed, 100%.
If you want success in anythingin life, YOU'VE GOT TO BE 100%!

(13:32):
And that means exactly thatyou've got to put all of
your thought life, youremotional life, your vitality,
you're investing in it.
So if you want it tobe successful, get
involved totally.

Macarena (13:44):
I love what you're saying
But I know that doubt.
It's very common,we've all been there.
So then is doubt asign that we're not
ready to claimthat or to make it?
I'm just curious with thethings you're saying, How
does one deal with doubt?

Derek (14:01):
Okay.
So the first thing is tounderstand is that it's very
human and we all have it,but it can be worked through.
And as.
The answer to many things.
If you want to have astronger will then you
practice willpower.
If you want to havestronger imagination, then
you practice imagination.
So it's the samehere with doubt.
If you keep tellingyourself yes, but, or

(14:23):
I would love to, but.
Derek, you don't knowmy circumstances.
Then you've already madeyour bed and you're lying
in it because you are theauthor, you are the creator.
And if you are the kingor queen of your kingdom
and you have these doubts, then you know the answer.
And of course, this is, I wouldhave to say is one reason why
we have, more and more healthissues that many people are

(14:45):
going through in these yearsbecause energy is changing.
Energy frequenciesare intensifying.
I think everyone is quiteaware that there's a lot of
acceleration of frequenciesand the body goes through
lots of tension and goesthrough lots of stress.
This is not necessarily negativebut if one is in resistance,
then the body shows But, soself doubt very human, but it

(15:09):
can be cured by practicing, supporting yourself, honoring
yourself and don't givepower away outside of you.
And, many of my clients, will have children and then,
many teenagers demonstratethis very strongly.
That it's so importantfor a teenager what their
friends say about them andwhat their friends talk and
feel and attitudes, so thatis about one's profile.

(15:33):
One wants people totalk well of oneself.
But if you want their opinionmore than you give yourself the
support and remove self doubt.
Then you're already giving poweraway to outside of you, and
then you can't be a magician,And we all have to go through
these different phases, and how quick we learn,

(15:54):
that's an individual case.
But we all haveto go through it.
So yeah, the answer is practice.
And the answer is, Have lookat where you want to go and
start bringing up the pastabout what you can't do or
what didn't work last time.
Look at where you want togo and invest energy and
power in the future in themaking where you want to go.

(16:16):
And again, I make it soundsimple, but actually a
lot of things are simple.
We complicate itwith our self doubt.

Macarena (16:23):
This brings up, as a mindset coach in my
practice, how I handle this,Is, people bring up all the
garbage and then it's okay, what if that wasn't there?
What if that's not?
So this brings back like, what is the question
we're asking of ourselves?
And I think, one of the thingsthat has come up when I tell
people about what I do, and thewhole idea of the lighthearted
living formula, which is wonder, wellness, wisdom, and people

(16:46):
I have found, especially thepeople come to me are ignoring
at least one part of this.
Sometimes twoif we put career and action
based stuff and habits underwisdom, most people have enough
information and know what to do.
But what I find, which isthe magic, of course, is the
wonder they like curiosity.
They're not givingthemselves space, which

(17:08):
I would call wellness.
So giving yourself spaceto actually contemplate
and what are the questionswe're asking of ourselves to
move through these things.

Derek (17:21):
quite right.
I enjoy going to people's homes.
And if I look in theirbookshelf, in their library,
I see some wonderful books, but I also look at is it used?
Like the back, is it broken?
Is it bent?
Can I see that the personis reading this book or it's
just there as decoration?
As an artist and as an author,I'd much rather see, notes
inside a book that the personis dialoguing with that book.

(17:45):
Because the dialogue itmeans that you're creating
a relationship and whenyou create the relationship
the energy flows It's notthere for what we call a
cosmetic just for looking at

Macarena (17:55):
to be fair, most of us do that on a Kindle.
Most of us haveswitched to doing that
electronically, by the way.
So now you can'tjudge by a bookshelf.
Before, when like thatwas the only option.
But I hear you.

Derek (18:08):
curiosity is essential if we're going to explore, The
traditional triangle, trianglesare very important in magic,
the power of three, but youhave The father dimension, the
masculine, which is, we can callit archetypically the provider.
Then you get themother, the nurturer.
And then you get the thirdpoint on the triangle,

(18:29):
which is normally the upperpoint, which is the child.
But the child isarchetypically the explorer,
And we need to be the explorer.
We need all three of thembut this is what magic
is, combining what alreadyexists, but definitely
the Explorer is curious.
And we've lost that.

(18:50):
If you go to a birth in places, clinics, but also hospitals,
you'll see that the conversationtends to be as parents to
be, how can we avoid pain, right?
Instead of the joy ofwhat's about to take place.
No, it's all demoted ona very physical level.

(19:12):
So now there is no magicin the birth moment.
There's no miraclein the birth moment.
It's all a matter of physicalreference and physical
convenience, as to, Oh,the doctor wants to do
it on Friday afternoon.
Can you, cooperate withthat and things like that.
So that's the firstthing and the miracle of.
Having the physical body asa woman open out and to allow

(19:34):
the head to pass through.
That's a miracle of engineering.
And that's magic.
And then it closes again.
That's magic.
But you can see that the typeof attitude is people aren't
really curious and interested.
And, your favorite wordin America, awesome.
The word means awestruck.
I've got three kids andI've been present at all

(19:55):
their births and thenthey've been water births.
And I've taken, my last childwas a daughter and took her
out the water, in the firstseconds that she's being born.
This is a miracle,but it's magical.
And it's this that I wantpeople to understand that if
you start, the birth thingwith that sense of joy and

(20:16):
it's magic and you trust life.
Rather than be in a state ofdefense and fearful of life,
and so the contrast is at theend, you've got the birth,
then take the end of life.
Again, there's no magic orthe majority of people in our
societies are in total selfdenial about the death process.
the death process is alsovery magical because you're

(20:38):
going to make connectionwith different dimensions.
How well does our societyprepare us for making contact
with these different dimensions?
It doesn't at all.
So therefore,I've done a lot of work, I've
written books on about theastrology of death, entrance
and exit, and I've, writtenabout the, what we call
the planetary Bardo states.
If we can prepareus as adult human beings

(21:00):
for more consciouscooperation with these other
dimensions, this is magic.
But do you think the church isgoing to help you with this?
They can't, because they haveno training or techniques.
They can be very good athelping the bereaved, those
family members and friendswho have lost somebody, but

(21:22):
for the actual person goingover the other dimensions,
they have no teaching andno training to help them.
And that's why one normallyturns to, the Buddhist
societies, because atleast they have very
strong traditions abouthow to cooperate with this.
So it's from the beginningto the end, and in between
is where the magic occurs.

(21:43):
On an everyday level, this wouldmean start the day Be conscious
of how you begin the day.
What is the, thought formyou have when you wake up?
Is it, oh, another daysame, I'm writing a page
in the book of life.
Is it going to be the same, thought forms, the same
everything that I did yesterdayand last week and last year?

(22:05):
That's up to eachone of us, isn't it?
So this is where we can beginit, and this is a suggestion
to everyone, out there,Magic is seeing and discovering
what already exists, butyou become conscious of
this relationship with it.
And because you're consciouswith it, you then have a much

(22:27):
more of a dynamic interactionwith what already exists.
And then through will andimagination, you can direct it.
So , here's an example.
If I asked each one ofyou to look at your name
and then look at the initials,Derek, so D would be the first
initial and then Seagriff Swill be the second initial.

(22:50):
So test and the challengeand the exercise for each
one of you I'll show you minein a minute, but make a
glyph, a diagram, a pictureof those two letters that
describe your essence.
Now, you may think, ohno, I can't do that.
You can if you think magically.
Here I'm going to show you mineon the screen.

Macarena (23:16):
Oh, wow.
That's cool

Derek (23:18):
there's the D, which is , as you can see,
it's vase, a bowl, and abowl contains something.
It holds something and there'sthe S emerging from it.
Now you may think thatlooks like diagram
for a nice cup of tea.
I'm not sure if I give teaand sympathy to my clients,
but what this representsto me and my essence is I

(23:39):
am the keeper of the sacredflame.

Macarena (23:43):
Oh, wow,

Derek (23:43):
And this picture illustrates exactly, in
these two symbols, theessence of who I am.
Got that?
This is it.
Yeah, this my example, but I want each one of you
just to play around withthis because this is the
way you make connectionwith the other worlds.
We live in multi dimensionality.

(24:05):
You can't work with magicif you think binary.
Our world is all, in schoolsand families and society,
we still perpetuate themyth of binary, good, bad,
east, west, it's ridiculous.
And I say it's ridiculousbecause, where in my
generation, where isthese 50 plus years gone?
We've been learning about rightand left brain hemispheres.

(24:27):
If I was to say that, in otherpeoples who are not earth
peoples, but we would call themextraterrestrials, they don't
have left and right brain.
They have one brain.
In other words, there's no,they're unified with their male
and their female qualities.
We still think left brainattitudes or right brain, but
our salvation and this is wheremagic has a great role to play

(24:50):
is bridge building betweenthese two areas all the time.
So there's a dynamic flow.
All right, so I gaveyou that was one example
just to illustrate, ifyou can see what exists.
This deeper level, and youcan make it come forth,
Then you're already bridgebuilding between these

(25:12):
different dimensions.
So now , I'm going togive you another one, and
each one of you can dothis it's a good exercise.
You can take your name andyou look at the letters in
your name, Now these letters,,like language, if we change
the sound through the holein the face and talk Spanish
or English or Danish whateverthen can we understand it?

(25:34):
It's just a different sound.
When we look at letters, the combination of letters,
we can rearrange them.
These are the letters thatmake up your name, but
they can be rearranged.
This is what I woulddo in a workshop.
I give people, seven minutes.
Seven minutes to createas many new words,
but you can only use theletters in your name.

(25:56):
And then the recordis, I think, 60 words
created by a Swedish in sevenPretty good.

Macarena (26:03):
is, this first and last name

Derek (26:05):
Both names.
You use all the letters that arethere for example, you can see
S E A, C, and then R E D, red.
You can see straightaway there's all kinds
of words that there.
But the more you createmore words, that's the
first stage in this.
This is my example.
Each one of you should doyour own example so you can
get into this magical theme.

(26:27):
When you've done that, and youhave to put a time limit on
it because otherwise, so sevenminutes max, 10 minutes and no
more, So a bit of pressure isnecessary to create, and then
when you've got all these words, then you combine these words.
It's like a mantra.
You will see theirindividual words.
But when you put them together, they make, a sentence.

(26:49):
Now this sentence canbe completely crazy.
It has no logic whatsoever.
But it will make sense to you.
It will make sense becauseyou are seeing a relationship
between these words and how itreveals something about you.
Okay, so my example,Derek Seagriff, using the
letters that are available.

(27:10):
This is what I come up with.
I see red rider.
Arid seas.
Fakers.
I rake fear.
Far rah rides side aid.
I kiss far rah.
Fun It has, for me,this makes sense.

(27:32):
I'm very inspired byEgyptian, that's why
you get the rah in this.
And, people may know what thered rider is and, and yes,
I'm very involved in beinginvolved with authenticity
means that I'm going to seefakers and what is fake or
what is not so real and that.
So this combination of wordsand this rhythm says a lot to

(27:54):
me about what I'm here to do.
So basically, I'm discoveringwhat already exists,
but I didn't see it before, but I'm now seeing it.
And that's what magic is,seeing what already exists,
but you didn't relate to it,And that everyone can
do, because this isabout, using the eye,

(28:16):
And now I mentionedEgypt, so in Egypt, it's
called the eye of light.
And you have to look atthe eye/I We can say the
psychological I, the self, orwe can look at the physical eye.
But in the end, the eye is aclearest demonstration of the
spirit on the physical plane,It captures light and it,
of course, gives out light.
But if you look at the symbolismof the eye, you'll have The

(28:38):
iris the circle in the middlewith a dot, that's a symbol for
the sun, which is the masculinearchetype, that creates all.
That's what wecall in Egypt, Ra.
That's why I call it Fa, Ra,Father Ra, And then you look at
the crescent moons, one aboveand one below, but you see the

(28:59):
crescent moon, is it like that?
It's the moon.
It's the waxing phaseof the moon, 14 days of
increase of light and thewaning phase of the moon, 14
days of decrease of light.
So together, They enclose thesun, so therefore you have the
sun and moon in our eye, andit's the sun and moon, which is
exactly what we've been talkingabout with the willpower, the

(29:23):
solar principle, the masculine, and the power of imagination,
which is, of course, magicalterms, this is the feminine.
So yes, as you do MacarenaI am all for developing
and encouraging thepowers of the imagination.
Just look at the word.
Look at the word E Ihyphen Maggie, magic hyphen

(29:49):
nation, E Maggie nation, I magicnation in other words, my world
is my, kingdom is one of magic.
And my world is, But everyone, can use this ability, but you've
got to combine male and female.
You will not create successfulmagic unless you are in a good

(30:13):
harmony with your masculineand your feminine principles.
This is clear, and the examplesI'm giving, I hope, are clear.
So enjoy this kind of nameworking, it's great fun,
and of course magic can befun, but it's also a way of
showing you what you didn'tsee existed, and then it will
stimulate you to create, morebridge building between these

(30:36):
inner life and the outer

Macarena (30:38):
I love what you're saying.
The magic is everywhere.
Like I really live like that.
And I had thisexperience the other day.
I had some free time and Igot to wander around and I
knew I was going to have amagical time and you better
believe it manifested.
It was wonderful.
And then it was interestingto hear somebody else having

(30:59):
a very different experience

Derek (31:01):
Right.

Macarena (31:02):
on their adventure.

Macarena (31:26):
So what this brings to mind is, what does it take
for people to express theirmasculine and feminine side?
So I think there has tobe some acknowledgement,
some acceptance.
What are the steps to unlockingthat prep phase to be able to
have more magic and experiencemore magic and express it?

Derek (31:51):
Okay.
So in Eastern teachings they saythat only sages, wise people,
teachers and children willever be happy because they
play with this theme, they playwith it, meaning that if you
ask a child, they're drawing,they're painting, you ask a
child, what are you doing?
What a stupid question to ask.
You can see what they're doing, that they're creating, but

(32:13):
they don't know what they'redoing until it's finished.
And it's the same here, thatit's essential That when you get
involved in a creative processand the magic is creative,
there's no question about that.
You lose all sense of time,That's the first thing we
are obsessed with time and weare so conditioned with time,

(32:34):
but hold on time is plastic.
Time can be, stretched.
And this is a demonstration ofmagic that when you're enjoying
something, time goes quick.
You think, wow.
Ask any teenager who's playinggames on the computer, five
hours has suddenly gone byand they thought it was only
one hour or two hours, right?
And when you're in a situationwhich is quite boring and

(32:55):
frustrating, then it feelsas though it's so long
and slow and laborious.
So it's not outside of us,it's the attitude inside of us.
So we know my time is a mindset.
And it exists on this plane, onthis dimension, but it doesn't
exist on the other dimensions.
So that's my first pointin answer to this, that
don't worry about time.
And like with a child orthe wise person, you are

(33:18):
totally absorbed in what youdo and it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matterwhat the time is.
You are fully presentin what you do now.
So if your mind is split andyou're thinking about, we're
going to eat for dinner inthe next hour or so, how's
the magic going to be then?
You've already pulledyourself away from what
you're doing and then youare lessening your magic.

(33:40):
So I point this out because weall do it, but we can learn to
shape shift, be fully present inwhat we do 100 percent and then
shape shift and move to anotherarea that needs attention.
But we must finish things.
You must complete something.
You do not leavethings unfinished.
And if a person has ahistory of, they're good

(34:01):
at starting something, butthey don't finish it this
will describe, their magic.
so if you really want thecircuit to be, fully connected,
then whatever you begin, however long it takes to
finish it, you finish it.
so basically, we need todon't worry about, our
busy lives, If we're toobusy all the time and our
diary is fully booked.

(34:24):
Unfortunately, I would haveto say this is a disease.
You don't want busyness.
You want activity.
All right.
You want to be active.
You want to be consciousof what you're doing.
Otherwise, you're addictedto movement and you've gone
into something and you'veokay, now I've done that.
Now the next task, thenext challenge, and then
you go fully into that.

(34:44):
And then I finished that.
And now the next thing yes,you may be, On appearances
as though you're successfulat doing things and finishing
things, but you're notintegrating what's been created.
We're not learningfrom what you're doing.
You're addicted to movement andmoving on to the next challenge,
but you're not enjoying life.
And what are we here to do?

(35:05):
Is it work, workaholic andwork until we drop dead?
Maybe some people believethat, but no, we're here.
The spirit, the soulquality in our lives is the
quality of everyday living.
So the soul wants us to havegood experiences and what some
would call bad experiences, but it wants experiences
because it can learn fromall kinds of experiences.

(35:28):
So don't veto.
Any experience in a binary, goodor bad, everything can be used
for the soul to extract meaningfrom, And then the life is much
more enjoyable and meaningfulbecause you are extracting
meaning from whatever'staking place in your life.
And that's where, the feminineis being very receptive

(35:51):
and, we've had conversationsthe last few days about,
the masculine and thefeminine cultures.
And if we're to emphasizein one, dimension, then
the opposite dimensionbecomes a shadow.
And if it's a shadow,then we don't accept it
or we don't integrate it.
We don't work with it.
But then that's theproblem before us.

(36:12):
And in this world where welive now How we handle the
shadow will be dependentupon, how much war there's
going to be in the future.
If you can integrate , let'scall it the darkness within you
and understand that darknessis not always negative or
evil as, Christian teachingswould have us believe.

(36:34):
And this is where I could getinto some very provocative
subjects, but light isa child of the darkness
in Kabbalistic terms, this is where after the
big bang, the universewent dark, completely dark
for billions of years.
And then at a certain stage, suddenly all the planets
were arranged where they wereeverything had its structure,

(36:57):
but it was from darkness thatthey emerged this quality
Now this is again I referalso to my, what I call
teachings from Egypt.
This is why theydivided the country.
Half the country was dedicatedto light, the sun god, and half
the country was dedicated towhat Christians call Satan,
but which the astrologerswere called Saturn and

(37:20):
which the Egyptians calledSet, S E T, or Seth.
Now, to be a king of Egypt, apharaoh of Egypt, you had to
have the crown of the Upperpart and the lower part, the
red crown and the white crown.
When you had them combinedtogether, you were a

(37:42):
pharaoh of a united kingdom.
Now, this is very sophisticated.
I have to say itbecause, they understood.
That it was the so called shadowside that pushes us into growth.
You don't growunless there's pain
And then, we have sucha resistance to pain.
But in the end, whenyou grow physically,

(38:02):
you have physical pain.
When you grow emotionally, there's emotional pain.
When you grow mentally, there's a mental pain.
And , because you're a so calledspiritual being on a spiritual
path, don't believe thatthis is an avoidance of pain.
So there's Pain is theinevitability of growing.
Suffering is a performance.

(38:23):
That's up to each one of ushow much, is me, hey, you up
there, why me, that's up to usif you want to play the victim
role, but pain is part of ourjourney, because it helps us
what I would call harmonythrough conflict, because
of conflict, we are awareof conflict and opposites,
contrast enables us tosee things more clearly.
And then we learn andwe move on, hopefully.

(38:45):
So our attitude towards painis a big issue and I would say
as a practicing magician, ifpeople want to really understand
magic You've got to absorball forms of experience and
have no preference for oneIf you keep on talking
about wholeness.
Then I would challengeeach person to define

(39:07):
what they mean by that.
My definition would be, I'mopen to every experience
there is, I will not vetoany experience.

Macarena (39:16):
It all helps you be human

Derek (39:18):
multi dimensional, and that's what it
means to be truly whole.
We're moving into an age ofmulti dimensionality, not,
this reality or that reality.
No, it's manyrealities coexisting.

Macarena (39:30):
So interesting, this comes up a lot, this
whole idea of the fullspectrum, to really be open.
It's not just The littlecorner that feels good.
we have to be open toeverything because that is life.
So pretending it's notthat it feels like denying.
I guess then what needsto happen is I talk about

(39:52):
this in the sense of setyourself up to succeed.
organize yourself sothat you can have magic.
in film, when I was afilmmaker, we have a saying
that says we prepare sothat the magic can happen.
But I think it's the samething applies to a household or
whatever our, responsibilitiesare, whether it's feeding

(40:12):
our families or whatever itis, we do it consciously and
when it's time to do it, thenit frees us up to allow some
magic in some other time.
there's that bit of settingourselves up to success.
And then I find that a lot ofus, are in and out of overwhelm.

(40:32):
the other thing you hadmentioned that made me think
of I talk about it as lifeis a playground of experience
It's not about good or bad.
if most of your rides are scaryrides, because for whatever
reason, if you don't want to dothat anymore, it's like you can
absolutely reallocate that realestate, so with all of this.
How in, in adding magic toeveryday life, I think one

(40:54):
of the things needs to beaddressed is, the overwhelm.
And I think that's why, becauseof this level of maybe cultural
or community overwhelm, it'shard to look at the darkness,
and for me, I'm a Scorpio, soI guess I'm not afraid of that.
I don't mind because.
I can navigate

Derek (41:14):
you've got to be comfortable with light and dark
and not have, one's attitudewill determine the degree
and what kind of experiencesyou get, and this is where
mindsets are so important.
And all I've said, andwhat you're now saying
is that be careful ofjudgment it's bit like an
allergic reaction.
If you have an allergy, you can't accept

(41:36):
something, whatever it is.
If it's, In milk whatever itis, but you're allergic to it.
You can't take it in.
And it's the same if youdon't like something then
you can't take it in.
And, now I give the metaphorsto everybody that on a
circumference of a circle, each point on the circumference
leads to the center.

(41:56):
It's a different perspective.
It's a different way ofcoming to the center.
But celebrate diversity,enjoy the differences,
do not feel competitive.
You like that oryou don't like that.
Learn to appreciate.
And then you're in this level, which is the feminine quality
of designing a life wherethere's wholeness, where there's

(42:18):
cooperation with differences.
And that is the path forwardfor us to create a healthier
society, And what we wouldcall a wisdom society, more
than a knowledge only society.
We need the wisdom.
We don't need more knowledge.
It's endless.
We need the wisdom.

Macarena (42:38):
Yes, and that's why I talk about wonder,
wellness, wisdom, which is,are the full expression of
mind, body, and spirit, right?
So it's not enough.
like you said, we'vegot plenty of knowledge.
Everybody knows things.
So I really find what'simportant, like in my
line of work is helpingpeople integrate, Right.
Helping them embodythese things.

(42:59):
And I know you talk alot about the same thing.
Like the embodiment.

Derek (43:03):
But, this is the key to everything.
And I hope now, we're sayingin many different things that
I hope could inspire listeners, but for me, as a therapist for
45 years, I would say that,I challenge clients in
front of me to look at whathappened in their past and
I can specify, a time periodand certain events, and how

(43:25):
have they integrated thatin their life at the moment?
Because if you don'twork with your own life
material, then you're notgoing to be a magician.
You have to relate to whatyou have created, because what
you've created on the physicalplane, on the emotional plane,
relationships and things, andon the mental plane with your

(43:45):
thoughts and ideas,, thesethought forms come back to us.
Some would call that a rebound.
Others would call that fate.
And as an astrologer, I wouldcall that the planet Saturn.
That brings us back intoour own self created reality.
If you don't take responsibilityfor what you have created,
then how can you comefurther as a magician?

(44:06):
You won't.
So the first task is to lookat what you've created, and
if you didn't like it, thenrewrite Rewrite the script.
You're the author.
Rewrite it, but don't keep on,keeping on with the same mantra
and expect, things to be betterbecause if you want change,
you got to do things different,Or else that's the
Oxford dictionarydefinition of insanity.

(44:27):
doing things the sameway as you've always done
and expecting change.

Macarena (44:33):
I love this.
I love this conversationwe're having.
So back to bringing magicinto the everyday, let's
start with the morning.
is it the questionswe're asking?
Is it the intentionswe're setting?
Is it all of those things?
What does a magicalday look like?

Derek (44:51):
Ah, this is a book in itself,

Macarena (44:53):
it is.
and of course.
It's going to bedifferent for everyone.
What I'm looking for is forthe person who wants more
magic in their life, howcan throughout the day they
invite, that's what I'm askingbecause magical day is going
to be different every day, butwhere are the opportunities
to invite magicinto the every day?

Derek (45:14):
Why it starts from the very beginning.
How do you enter into a new day?
When you wake up, whatare the rituals that you
do to start your day?
Now we all have, Breakfastshower and things like
that, but there could bemany other rituals, but the
most important is when youwake up, are you conscious?
This is a new day.
There's new opportunities.

(45:34):
How will you know carpe diem?
How will you seizethe opportunity that
is presented to you?
Because if not it becomes, routine and most people
I'm not designing a life.
They're just existing, Sothis is the first thing to
be creative is to create, Sothen, let's say a good example
would be Today's a Sunday.

(45:56):
So on a Sunday, aday of the sun, where
there's increased light, you look back at the
last week and you writedown four sections.
The first section will be,how did I see on the physical
event level What was the mostimportant physical event in
my life the last few days?
In other words, the last week, that's the first paragraph.

(46:17):
And then the next paragraphwould be, What was the most
important emotional experiencethat I had in this last week?
And emotions and feelingsis the glue that links
us to other human beings.
it's going to be about youinteracting with other people.
That's the key here.
So the third sectionwill be mind mental body.

(46:38):
Was there any new idea?
What was the most potent, newidea or new thought that I
had in the last seven days?
As , we all aware that werepeat, we have the same
thoughts and the same attitudesday in, day out, but there will
emerge a particular new thought.
And that is very important toregister, to get it down.

(47:00):
And then the fourth andfinal section would be How
did I experience spiritin the last seven days?
Now if our listeners were tomake such a diary and every week
write down these four sectionsThey're already Seeing
It's a great method of becomingmore conscious of Of what

(47:23):
I'm physically doing, whatI'm emotionally involved in,
what I'm mentally occupiedwith, and spirit, in my
way of understanding spiritis my life more living.
If you have more connectionwith spirit, then you're
more living, and livingnessmeans that you don't have any
deficiencies in life, Thesesimple diary notations would

(47:45):
be a great way of evaluating.
Your life and seeing what youneed to do to change it because
the more I didn't have manygood ideas last week then
fine then change it this week.
it's all about consciousnessSo consciousness is
the key to everythingPeople come to me as
an astrologer thinkingthat I'm going to be an
oracle and tell them allkinds of weird, wonderful

(48:07):
things and possibly I do.
But basically, I'm showingthem, how can you use your
energies and your resourcesbetter by working with the
universal and personal flowto get it better linked.
And this is why I'mnot promoting just
knowledge and information.

(48:27):
I'm promoting consciousness.
If I can get a person to bemore conscious to cooperate
with their life, then I'vesucceeded in helping that
person in the right way.
So , this will be my, techniqueto all your listeners.
If you want magic thenit's a ongoing discipline.
It's not just oneevent, one off.
No, you have to be, disciplinedthat a rhythm attracts magic.

(48:51):
And if you want somethingto succeed, you do it
on a regular basis.
I love this.
So Sunday is good day to do this

Macarena (49:00):
And then what about each day?
Are there any other days of theweek that have special energy we
should be using in our rhythms?

Derek (49:07):
again, I have to laugh because I have a book coming
out here in America whichdeals exactly with this theme
of when we are born, we havea day when we are born and we
have an hour when we are born.
And that what I've done in thisbook, the first book is to show.
This creates a pathway and Iplace that on the capitalistic

(49:29):
tree of life to identify whatspecific pathway is that person
working with in this lifetime.
So yes, this is a bigscience in itself.
Seven days of the week.
The seven classical planets.
Today is Sunday, Day of the Sun.
Yesterday was Saturday,Day of Saturn.
And then there's Monday, tomorrow, Day of the Moon.

(49:50):
Tuesday, Day of Mars.
Wednesday, Mercury Day.
Thursday, Jupiter Day.
Friday, Venus Day.
Each of these planets has , ofcourse, a particular vibration.
And every hour in 24hours, Has also one of
these planetary thing.
So yes, one can be,there's a science here.
One can be very specific thereare property developers and

(50:13):
estate agents here in Americathat use this planetary system.
When someone wants to settlea contract and a deal, and
it's going to be solid, they choose a Saturn hour
or a Mercury hour during aMercury day or a Saturday.
There's good astrologicalreasons for this
anchoring and earthing.
This is, of course, muchmore specialist but I pointed

(50:34):
out because there are manyapplications of working
with energy and workingconsciously with what energies
are available with certaincombinations of planets.
Yes, but this is somethingthat one can learn, but it's
not in just a couple ofminutes, I can't really
provide the system.

Macarena (50:50):
of course yeah, this is a huge topic on its own.
Okay.
So then back to the day, likein a regular, any 24 hours.
what are the opportunities?
So we've talked about like themorning, like how you start the
day, the tone of your day, yourinitial thoughts, and then how
you manage that is a big start.

(51:11):
And then usuallyI hear this a lot.
Morning starts off great.
And then life happens, right?
Here's your yeah, but,and then life happens.
So then what, is itlike the meal times?
habit stacking?

Derek (51:24):
I'm not a Muslim, but that's obvious, but I have
great respect for, the fivetimes a day meditation, So
in other words, for us, as,let's say, more Westerners
You can plot the beginningof a day is like when you
wake up from the grave of thebed, and that's like sunrise.
So that's the East Point,Something is beginning, right?

(51:45):
And then it goes to the sun onits journey during the day goes
to the highest point at noon.
So many traditions have this, recognition that one does
something very simple butit's all about consciousness,
that you identify.
You can say a mantra ora prayer or you make an
affirmation at 12 noon.
It's a very potenttime of the day.

(52:07):
and then, I've donethis for many years.
If you take a circle.
You take 12 noon and dothe opposite point, six
o'clock, Then you have aline that's going through
the circle, a vertical line.
Ah, but this is a veryimportant statement.
In occult terms, thisis Walking the razor edge

(52:29):
pathway that leads between, these two great realities.
My Eastern teachers used to saythat the ashrams would start
their real work at six o'clock.
It's six o'clock in the morningand six o'clock at night.
And that's why we alwaysdid meditations based on six
o'clock in the evening andsix o'clock in the morning.
and even now whether I wantto or not, I always wake

(52:51):
up just before six o'clock.
It's like an inbuilt calling.
So I would advise ourlisteners if you create This
circuit and you are aligningyourself with, the sun at its
highest and then it goes downat sunset, Sunset can vary
for each one of us, but aroundsix o'clock there's something
very magical that you arealigning yourself and lots of

(53:16):
magical energies can be createdby utilizing these points
during the cycle of the day.
then, what and how you useit, one would need to go into
that a little bit more, butthese are the times that every
person, you can create yourown magic by being conscious
and consciousness is the key.
What do you want to beconscious of at noon?

(53:36):
Affirm, what you're doingand where you want to go.
Aspire to the greatestheights, and ask for support.
The sun at noon is itsmost powerful point.
Then, absorb this power,Pythagoras would say, "The sun
at noon, it casts no shadow."And understand the
magical implications ofthat, there's no shadow.

(53:56):
So it's a very potent timefor unification with your
highest being, and those ofyou that know some astrology,
then this would mean on yourbirth chart, what we call the
midheaven, abbreviated to MC,is called the highest point in
the zodiac when you're born.
But this is the highest point.
This is the point, literally, where the soul enters into

(54:18):
the matrix provided by mumand dad, and then enters into
the embryo at this point.
And that's normally abouteight weeks after conception.
So there are some technicalreasons why the highest
point is a point of beingovershadowed by your soul.
It can only take one, twominutes, I could be on
a bus and all I have todo is close my eyes and

(54:40):
just make the attunement.
You don't have to have idealconditions, and this is the
point about magic, Don't askfor the ideal conditions,
work with what there is.
if you're driving, thenfine, then pull over and just
take those three minutes orsomething, this is the method
by which you strengthen yourmagical vibration because

(55:00):
you are aligning yourpersonal world with A greater
reality, the universal, and that's where the magic
occurs.

Macarena (55:08):
Wonderful.
That's very cool.
So just we can go fullcircle here, what would
be your, bedtime, we'vegotten up to sunset.
So What would the attunementright before dream time?

Derek (55:23):
If I'm correct, 38 percent of the American
population have a problemwith sleeping , that's a
huge amount and they requiremedication to help them sleep.
This is sad becausedeep sleep is our birthright.
So i'll tell you what one ofthe reasons as one example, I
don't sleep that much becauseit's the depth of sleep.

(55:45):
It's not the length ofsleep, the duration of time.
It's the depth of sleep.
This is what it means to godeep into another vibration.
So this only occurs if youlet go of the physical plane
and you let go of the worriesand anxieties that you may
have on the physical plane.
And we all have challengesand problems that we're
involved in we're human.

(56:06):
This is part of why we incarnateon planet earth, but you do
not take your Fears and yourworries onto the dream cycle
because if you do this, thevalue of dreams to help work
with this but what it does isthat it keeps you To a certain
vibration and then no matteryou have maybe eight, nine, ten
hours sleep, but you wake up andyou still aren't very refreshed

(56:28):
because it is the depthyou let go of the physical
plane and you enter intothe other vibrations if
you want, this to work.
So I would then, ask eachone of you to when I let go
can you let go andenter into this other
dimension quite easily?
I hope so, because this iswhat it would mean to not

(56:48):
let one world interferewith the other world.
The physical vibrationis physical.
It's very heavy.
when you go into theseother vibrations, come
on, everybody dreams.
So you are well aware Someof you may have conscious
recall of certain dreams.
You're well aware that inthe dream state, whatever
you're thinking and feelingcan be magically created

(57:11):
immediately, whatever it is.
On the physical plane, it takesa lot of time to bring the
thought life and the feelinglife to change the physical.
It happens, but ittakes much longer time.
But on that level, onthese other vibrational
levels, it's immediate.
Hence the power of thought andhence the fact that all thought

(57:32):
is energy different frequenciesAnd if we're going to truly
become magicians in the age ofAquarius we have to recognize
that this is our destiny to beable to create at will and This
leads us into or could lead usinto all kinds of discussions
about the nature of Aquarius, but I want our listeners
to recognize that enjoy yoursleep state, be refreshed.

(57:56):
It's your body that needssleep, not your brain.
This is all stupid, the brainis active, it goes on other
areas it wants to rechargeand meet other people and
work with other dimensions.
It's your body that needs sleep,So how much does your body need?
If you are a heaviervibration, meaning more
fearful, then possiblyyou need a lot more sleep.

(58:19):
So Less fear, deep sleep.

Macarena (58:21):
Fascinating.
I've actually Clientswho couldn't sleep.
I told them about Journaling.
The prescription wasyes, do your creative
journaling in the morning.
But also before bed getthings out of your head
to allow and it's workedwithout medication So there's
something powerful to that

Derek (58:41):
but why aren't we teaching this?
people come to you and me to getthis inspiration and training.
But why aren't we teachingit in our society?
Because when you have, 38percent of the population
that has this as an issue.
How are we teaching them , butno, as we all know, the
pharmaceutical industrieshave been very successful
convincing each one of usthat you've got a problem.

(59:03):
We got a pill.
so they've been verysuccessful at making fear.
If you are fearful, you're a good consumer.
People like me who are morehappy and more at peace.
I don't buy so much.
I'm not a good consumer becauseI'm not fearful, but you get a
fearful society, they consumemore, or I'm missing that.
So advertising as well aspharmaceutical companies they

(59:26):
stoke up our fears because thisis guaranteed better income for
them.

Macarena (59:32):
So all of this is about being empowered and I
think magic plays a big rolein that because if you're
conscious of what's going on,if you're aligned to the rhythms
of life, then you're free.
you're a free agent.
You can see things more clearlyfor what they are, and then
if you can choose whether ornot to participate in things.

(59:56):
I always talk about stuff.
I said, in spiritual practiceor as a human, you've got
everything you already need.
All the resourcesare within you.
Now, community is important, which is why it's fun.
for example, like myfellow body talkers or my,
body intuitive friends.
It's not that I think weneed, or whether that's like
essential oils or crystals.

(01:00:18):
I don't think weneed any of those.
However, participating withthose things provide community.
again, this consciousnessallows us to do things by
choice instead of as anautomatic reaction to the bait
that's been placed for us.

Derek (01:00:35):
Absolutely.
Community is wonderful, anunderstanding we're moving
into an age of community.
This is what Aquarius andAir Sign is all about.
But I would like just to respectthe other word you use, choice.
Choice.
The Italian psychologist,Roberto Asseggioli, the
creator of psychosynthesis, hedefined it in a very beautiful

(01:00:57):
definition, Choice gives usdignity as a human being.
And I cannot underestimatethe power of choosing.
The animal kingdom can't choose.
We as human beings havethe power of choice.
So therefore, some would callit free will, but free will
is dependent on consciousnessas to how free you are.

(01:01:19):
But choosing, whatare we choosing?
So choice is everything.
And again, another point youmade the more open we are.
the more free we are,So there's a choice to be
more open.
The choice could be you wantto walk away or choose not
to, but choosing must helpus support our reality.

(01:01:42):
This theme of choosingis so important to get right.

Macarena (01:01:48):
We could do a whole other podcast about that and
that's big part, like that's thekey point in my gratitude poem.
gratitude offers yousomething, but choice is where
the real power is, right?
Whether you're choosinggratitude or something else.

Derek (01:02:03):
Exactly.
In any situation.
But this is magical.
This is the point.
It is choice that enables usto, connect with our center.
So what are the choicesthat we're making?
Everything is based on choice.
Identity is maintained bythe choices that we have.
So when a person has as weall do a challenge , in their
personality makeup, and theirchallenge to unfold a different

(01:02:27):
aspect of their profile.
that's what leads to a growthof awareness and a growth
of expanded self awareness.
So all the time challengedto, expand our awareness,
but this is a choice toexpand it or keep it as it is.
And we want the expansion.

Macarena (01:02:45):
Exactly.
So when I talk about life asa theme park of experience,
it's not about beingpunished or learning lessons.
It's about expansion.
whether your land is filled withhorror rides or a food court,
you can have those things inbalance, you could do anything
you want with your real estate.
So the whole point is.

(01:03:06):
It's not about punishment.
Life is not about punishment.
Life is about expansion.
So sometimes the easiestway to expansion, like
you said, is suffering.
And I loved what you said, because I always love that
saying pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
And I find like so much ofwhat everybody wants the
quick, The magic pill, themagic bullet, the magic,

(01:03:29):
whatever that's instant.
What we're saying hereit's all about the process.
It's all about aligningto the cycles of things.
This has beenabsolutely wonderful.
I do want to ask you, becauseI try to ask this of everybody
now . How does WONDER,WELLNESS, and WISDOM apply to

(01:03:49):
your life, your everyday life?

Derek (01:03:53):
I'm gonna give you an example of what you're
asking from my history.
I have to say, I could givemany examples, but I think the
example I'm about to give you,Encapsulated in a nutshell
this magical way of livingthat I have on everyday
basis, I have family andkids and they also have this
emphasis upon.
The inner and the outer dynamic.

(01:04:14):
So I'm going to give anexample from my past and when
I work with a group of peopleand I take groups to Egypt I
have done for 30 odd years.
And the first time I went toEgypt in this lifetime.
I was in Holland, and I wasteaching what we call the
42 cosmic laws of Egypt.

(01:04:35):
Egypt is divided into42 communes 20 in upper
and 22 in lower Egypt.
So we were 42 people, mywife and I, and then 42
participants, and they said, wow, let's all go to Egypt.
And I said, yeah, it's lovely.
Everyone says all kindsof high things when
you're in a workshop.
But the next day they came witha big bag of money and put it on

(01:04:58):
my table and said, we mean it,we want you to take us to Egypt.
So this was in, long time ago, this was in December 1989 that
I first went back to Egypt.
It was far too many people,I've never done that ever
again because I don't likesuch big groups, but then I
did it was my first time back.
And then , in this trip.
I arranged that on one ofthe evenings we would do

(01:05:22):
big ritual in Luxor Temple.
Luxor Temple is the ancientThebes and it's opposite
the Valley of the KingsI have a very special
connection with this temple.
And during the previous dayI had met an Egyptian guide.
And he said to me, Oh, if you'regoing to do something there,
let me be a part of this becausethey all know me and I'll

(01:05:42):
make sure that you don'tget interfered with, and so
everything will be protected.
I said fine.
Come along.
So there we were.
We were 33 people in theevening at six o'clock,
the magical time.
When there's unity.
So we did this ritual andbasically , each temple
is like a chakra system.

(01:06:02):
And I worked at making a golden. Ankh Egyptian cross with the
group and we turned the key ina particular area which is where
the solar plexus and the heart, that link, just where that is,
is called the court of Amenophisand the third if anyone
wants to know, this temple.
And it was very beautifulceremony and I was very

(01:06:25):
satisfied with what we did.
And yeah, and then We leftthe temple and we went back to
hotel and then the next coupleof days were in Cairo and we're
about to leave on the plane.
And then this Egyptianguide who I'd made friends
with, he rang me all veryexcited and passionate.
And he said, do youknow what's happened?

(01:06:45):
And I said, no, but you'reobviously ringing to
tell me what happened.
So I'm listening.
I'm all ears.
Tell me.
He said the area whereyou did the ritual,
they closed the area.
And they said that therewas sewerage from the
local, villages thatwas going under the pylon to
columns andthat the columns needed
to be straightened.

(01:07:05):
And exactly in the area where wewere working, they dug down two
meters and they found 33 statuesand these statues were taken
out of the ground becausethey are consecrated.
When a temple createssculptures, we have this in

(01:07:27):
modern day Buddhism as well.
You sing and you dance.
You present food.
The statues are not statues.
They become living, theyare receiving a God force.
And so the temple has thatmagical capacity to get these
statues to become live in andthis is something that most
perhaps of our listeners willfind difficult to understand but

(01:07:49):
so it is these God forces imbuethe Temple that's corrected
They can inhabit it.
So anyway the authorities thencreated a new museum called
the New Museum of Luxor whereall these statues are there,
And I point this out becausesome of the statues are small
and some of them are very, big and many of them, many
of the most beautiful onesfantastic exquisite examples of

(01:08:13):
the high point in sculpturing.
They are.
Figures, gods and goddesseslooking into eternity, because
the Egyptians understoodthis principle about working
with time and timelessness, which is of course why I'm
particularly connected tothem haven't mentioned
it, but my first work as ayoung man was as a sculptor.

(01:08:35):
And I had exhibitionsin London and New York
as a 23, 24 year old.
That was my profession.
I was quite good at it.
so therefore for me , it'snot just sculpture.
I recognize the power imbued inthese statues of a livingness.
so I give you this example thatmy first time back in

(01:08:56):
Egypt in this lifetimewas with that Dutch group
and that was the Karma.
I had to be at that placeat that time with this group
turning the key to open andof course my Egyptian friend
guide said, okay, Derek, you'vegot to come back every year
with a group of Scandinaviansand open up more temples.
And so I have, so therefore, for me, magic is not only,

(01:09:19):
what most people think isgranting a personal desire.
It's also, As I showed you inthe diagram, that drawing, I'm a
keeper of the sacred flame whichsimply means I'm a custodian of
certain knowledge and wisdom.
And then I try to get that out.
So by taking groups to Egypt,I've 30 odd years, that's
my way of introducing theseeternal teachings to a group

(01:09:42):
of people that would beinterested in working with
an Egyptian way teaching.
Connected with these teachings.
So that's magic to align,, and I go to England,
Southern England, and that'sanother tour called In
the Footsteps of Merlin.
And then we do a Merlin magic, but magic, every nation,
every country has its magic.

(01:10:02):
And so yeah let's bring magicback into our lives on an
everyday level and be veryConscious of our creative
potency to turn the world thatwe see and experience into the
world that we want to live in.

Macarena (01:10:19):
Yes!

Derek (01:10:20):
This is, my dedication to magic.
I'm a person that's verymuch working against fear,
Fear is the most tyrannicalthought form on the planet,
the most, powerful emotion thatthere is, but it's limited.
basically that's part of myreal work, confronting fear
so I hope that gave just anexample on another

(01:10:41):
level of what this magic means,
