Speaker 1 (01:42):
[inaudible] hi
everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
And welcome to
another podcast of magical
tomorrows.
I am your host Monica Fort ofmaking magical vacations travel,
the travel agency, and also thepodcast.
So welcome today.
Uh, what you just heard was alittle, uh, intro, if you're a
(02:04):
true Disney fan, which many ofyou are, uh, you'll know what
that was from, um, for a gueststhat don't years ago, um, uh,
the Disney, uh, resort TV wasthe TVs in the rooms and, uh,
uh, they came across, uh,putting the info there for the
(02:26):
guests, which was, I'll tell youwhoever thought of that, which
was a Disney, Imagineer was verygenius in doing it because it
really took the confusion awayonce you're there, uh, to really
see, um, on the TV, it's theDisney resort TV.
And basically it would be acontinuous loop with that music
(02:48):
and, and, uh, other Disney musicthat you'll all know in love, uh
, from the Walt Disney worldresorts.
And so each resort would havetheir own kind of music loop,
uh, that would scroll with aticker at the bottom.
And it would give you the parktimes of all of the theme parks,
(03:09):
uh, the shopping district of, uh, Disney Springs, and then also,
uh, the water parks and then thelittle extras such as the mini
golf and, and places like that.
But it was great for a guy tothe park hours and more, uh,
with discovering the parksbeyond the parks, special
experiences and great tips.
(03:30):
And so, uh, we, we just wantedto put that in there today
because, you know, when you hearthat music, no matter who you
are or where you are, if you'vebeen to a Walt Disney world
resort and maybe frequently, like most of us have, um, it, it
just brings you right back toWalt Disney world in that
mindset.
And, uh, you know, that'ssomething that we all, uh, are
(03:54):
in need of right now, you know, through coven, especially I see
this amongst a lot of the Disneyfan bases is that if you don't
live so close to the magic, thenreally, uh, you're kind of like
us homesick for it.
And so, uh, we just like tothrow that little bit of magic
(04:15):
out to everybody today's topic.
What I would like to discuss, and this topic always comes up
is the, a lot of my guests willsay, Monica, what do you pack
when you go to Walt Disneyworld?
You know, what, what do we needto pack, uh, so that we have all
the bases covered and reallyit's, it's, uh, you know, a lot
(04:38):
of variables go into that.
Um, depending on the ages of thekids, if you have babies, uh, it
, you know, infants to toddler, you know, of course you're going
to bring the diaper bag and, andwhat they need.
Um, if you, uh, you know, justhave, you know, the children
that are a little bit older, youknow, and everybody's going to
(04:58):
go then of course, it's going tobe a lot different.
So where we're gonna focus on,you know, what to bring, uh, on
your Disney vacation, uh, thatyou'll need.
Now, if you're driving a car, itgives you more freedom as to
what you want to bring.
So cause you have all that room, but for, in general, for most of
our, uh, guests that go to WaltDisney world or the Disney
(05:22):
cruise line, uh, they fly, youknow, it's two and a half hour
trip from Baltimore Washingtonairport, which is BWI or
Philadelphia.
It's about a two and a half hourflight, uh, minus any delays.
But, uh, once you're there, um,you know, now the magic happens.
So we're going to walk youthrough the steps of what to
(05:42):
pack and, and how that works.
So, um, depending, uh, anothervariable would be, depending on
what time of year you go.
Now, everybody here in theNortheast feels that Florida is
constantly warm and that wouldkindly be the case, but in most
recent years, uh, it does getvery cold, uh, in, uh, in
(06:05):
Florida right around.
And it can happen as early, asmid November going right into
March.
Um, and, uh, people really don'tsee that they, they feel, you
know, it's always going to bewarm and that might've been yeah
.
Years ago, but, uh, uh, justlike here in the Northeast, you
know, uh, we hardly get any moresnows anymore.
(06:28):
Uh, I know in South centralPennsylvania, it's, it's not as
bad as it used to be when I wasa kid growing up, but we're
talking a good, you know, 30, 40years ago.
So, um, yeah, it's, it shows howmuch the difference of the
climate is for, for both.
But, um, we've been there like, like many of, you know, 73 times
(06:48):
in 10 years, and we've had thatstage at different times of the
year.
And, um, one focus that I wouldfocus on is, you know, in the
heat of the summer, I mean, whenit's really blazing hot, I mean,
uh, you want to pack enough, uh,clothes for you because of
course, unless you're at theresort, nobody wants to do
(07:12):
laundry, you know, not, especially when you're on
vacation.
Uh, however, if you are in a, adeluxe studio or the one
bedroom, two bedroom, even athree bedroom Villa, you will
have laundry, uh, right there inyour room.
And that makes it veryconvenient to do.
But for the general familiesthat go to, uh, the Allstar, uh,
(07:33):
resorts, as well as the art ofanimation resorts, or even the
moderate resorts, they have, they do have some laundry
services there, but, you know, really again, who wants to do
laundry while you're onvacation, you know, all the
magic, uh, that you have in thattimeframe of your stay.
You want to, you want to be ableto make memories and not a
(07:53):
memory of doing laundry, but, um, in that aspect, what I used to
do for the kids when we had togo in the summer, uh, due to my
training and stuff, uh, andconventions that I would be part
of w I would bring, uh, justwhite tee shirts for them, just
your typical light, cotton, white tee shirts for the boys.
(08:14):
You could get a pack of Hanesfor, you know, I think there's
five in there for roughly whatfive, maybe six bucks.
And, uh, that's what I would do.
I would throw them in there.
Of course they would have theirshorts, you know, and they would
have their Crocs.
Um, and, uh, I would, I wouldalways bring the bug spray and
(08:34):
the, the sunscreen and, and juststuff to keep them okay.
Plus a little first aid kit, just in case there was any minor
bumps or bruises, but, um, butthat was basically what we would
do.
I would also get, uh, uh, overat Walmart or target even
Costco, you could probably pickup, uh, you know, a little bit
(08:54):
of the ponchos, you know, andyou throw them in a bag and that
way you have them in case, andin the summertime, it will do
it.
Uh, usually July is a rainyseason there, and you'll always
get a, of sporadic rain, youknow, and it's not to a full
extent of a big, big downpour, but it's just enough to come
(09:16):
through and you hope it coolsthings off, but nine times out
of 10, it just makes it morehumid.
And then what it is.
But for general purposes, Ibring the ponchos, um, just
because the cost of them in theparks, uh, can really add up,
you know, you can, you couldreally drop a lot, uh, just for
necessity wise and, uh, not evena souvenir.
(09:40):
And, uh, so having this alreadyprepared for, for your guests
and, and for your family is, isthe way to go.
And we, we, we try to maximizethat for our guests before they
go, uh, to let them knowexactly, you know, about what to
bring, watch the weather reportson, you know, uh, now they have
so many apps for the weatherthat they can watch and, and
(10:02):
really kind of, kind ofstrategically plan out what's
going to happen, you know, andbe prepared.
So, uh, if you go in, uh, latefall going into winter, now,
it's really kind of iffy.
And, uh, it could still be warm.
Granted it still could be warm, but there have been times when
my family was there in, uh,right before Thanksgiving.
(10:26):
And then of course throughChristmas and new years, and
then going into January,February and March.
So you really have to, uh, pack,uh, again, strategically I would
pack for like, if it was fallweather, because then you have
the best of both, because ofcourse, you're going to bring,
(10:47):
you know, if you have sandals, bring them, you've got shoes,
bring them, uh, wear comfortableshoes.
You don't want to reallynecessarily wear heels walking,
10,000 steps in the park all dayon a pair of heels would just do
me.
And I, I like wearing my flatsand, uh, you know, it really
makes it very comfortable.
(11:07):
So again, keep that in mind towear comfortable shoes.
Uh, don't buy a brand new pairof shoes before the trip, at
least get a month into them.
Uh, so that way they'recomfortable.
You have less blisters, um, youknow, and that's just a, uh, a
tip right there, but, uh,generally speaking pack for fall
(11:28):
pack for what it would be likefor fall up here in the
Northeast, bring a fleece foreverybody, uh, again, pack the
ponchos cause that could happen,uh, pack a couple of pairs of
jeans, a couple of pairs ofshorts, maybe some long sleeve
shirts.
And then of course, short sleeveshirts.
Um, but generally the, thesunscreen, the bug spray, any
(11:49):
medications that anybody has to,of course you have to bring, um,
you don't need to have ahairdryer.
Uh, they're typically in therooms.
And if there aren't, all youhave to do is just call guest
services and they'll break oneout to you.
Uh, many of the, of the hotelsalso have an iron, so you don't
have to bring that in lug yoursaround.
(12:11):
Um, but, uh, you know, as far asthe clothing wise goes, I would
also, you know, maybe have likea light jacket because you could
wear that over the fleece.
Um, we were there several timeswhere I had to literally buy
coats for everybody.
It was so cold.
Um, and this was not on the newsat all.
(12:33):
And it just, it came right down.
It was a polar vortex the oneyear, and it was just brutally
brutally cold.
It was just predict plus we cold.
Um, and because we had a car, wewere able to go out to Walmart
and we bought hats and mittensand gloves and scarves, very
inexpensive.
And had I bought the wholething, I could have really made
(12:56):
a profit, um, you know, sellingthat in the parks.
Not that I would, but the, thecost of that, you know, the
necessities of hats and glovescan also be very expensive.
So keep that in mind, you know,if you're going to go between no
, uh, late November going intoeven April of, uh, you know, to,
(13:18):
to Walt Disney world, um, justpreplan it and pack it.
What's really nice aboutSouthwest is that, uh, for
anybody that's fly Southwest, uh, especially from the Northeast,
it's one of our preferredvendors that we use for flights
when we manage those trips forour guests.
And we booked those, uh, thoseflights for them because
(13:40):
Southwest number one has directflights, uh, pretty much they're
very inexpensive if you couldget them early enough.
Um, and you're able to eachpassenger gets, uh, to check
bags for free.
So, you know, you're able topack what you want in those, uh,
depending on the family members,I would personally keep one of
(14:02):
those bags empty because you'regonna have souvenirs and, uh,
you know, how are you going tolug that back home?
Some, sometimes you can ship, uh, from the stores to your home.
So that is kind of convenient, but then a lot of people don't
like to have packages beingdelivered while they're away.
So, um, what I would do is keepthe bag empty, keep one of the
(14:25):
bags, eggs empty, and you usethat for souvenirs, maybe for
two, because on the return trip, you're still going to be able to
fly with them, to check bags perguest for free.
So utilize that, you know, it's,it's really gonna save you a
headache and in trying to seehow you're going to bring these
souvenirs home.
Um, but Southwest is reallygreat for that.
(14:48):
Um, the TSA is thetransportation security
administration.
They have a website, TSA dot andall of the information about
flying and what to bring andwhat not to bring is right
there.
They have fax checks, checkliststhat, you know, pretty much
answers any questions that youmay have regarding service dogs,
(15:11):
if you need to bring one.
Uh, and what that requirementis, which we covered in a
Facebook live, uh, probablyabout three or four months ago,
but, uh, you know, what, you canbring what you can't, I would
recommend.
And this is another tip, andthis is a highly recommended
trip, especially for little ones, uh, that, that you have on the
(15:33):
trip is TSA precheck, the TSApre whoever thought that up, uh,
was also a genius because youdon't have to have them stand in
a long line and go through theairport screening, uh, of the,
of the, you know, airport, basically with the prescreening
of the TSA precheck, you'vealready done that.
(15:55):
And it's very minimal.
It's only$85 per person.
Uh, but what's nice about it isit lasts for five years.
So when, when you add it up,it's about 15 to 17 bucks a year
that you don't have to worry ifyou do fly a lot, what's nice
about it is you're going to geta membership card.
(16:16):
Um, if you don't have that intime for your flight, you will
get a confirmation.
Once you do that and you usethat number and then it's on
your boarding pass.
So, you know, it's already therefor you, but, um, with the TSA
precheck, they have a specialline for those guests that have
that.
Yeah, you don't have to take offyour belts.
(16:37):
You don't have to take off theshoes.
You don't have to take off thecoats.
You don't have to take out theliquids and you don't have to
take out any computers orlaptops.
So imagine having a, you know, three or four kids plus you and
yourself, and maybe grandma andgrandpa, and you're all going
through the, you know, the, thesecurity screening that could be
(16:59):
tedious, you know, and you know, how little kids are you're,
you're trying to focus on them, and you're not bringing about
yourself here with TSA precheckfor the 85 bucks per person.
It's worth it.
Now, this price is for anybody,13 years old and up.
Now, if you have little ones andlet's say, you know, you and
(17:21):
your wife, I have a pre-checkthen are going to be included
for free.
So you don't have to really signthem up for it.
They'll go under your number.
But, uh, anybody that's 13 yearsand older would have, I have to,
uh, you know, pay the$85 and gothrough the screening for, for
the TSA precheck.
(17:41):
So that definitely consider thata before where your next flight
and before your next vacation, because it is, uh, I would have
highly recommend it, especiallyfor those who might have any
disability issues.
Um, it really, it really savestime and just the hassle of
(18:01):
going through the screening.
So once you have that done andyou, and you get through the
airport screening, um, you know, now what, because of COVID, and
let's say you're staying onDisney resort properties, which
we hope you will, because you'llbe booking through us.
Um, Disney allows thecomplimentary ground
(18:22):
transportation that will pickyou up from the airport and take
your right to your resort.
So, you know, that's okay.
A magical experience, too.
It gets the kids all hyped.
It gets even the parents, allhyped.
Cause now here we are, we'regetting ready to go see the
magic and the disease magicalbreasts is just a really great
(18:44):
service because of COVID.
Uh, what they're doing now forguests is that typically you
would, uh, or I would receivethe luggage tags, uh, if you
book a vacation through us,right.
And I get those luggage tags, Imake sure everything's okay.
And then I ship them out to you, whether you live close to me,
(19:04):
which, uh, the majority of ourguests do, uh, we will usually
meet, uh, before COVID at aPanera bread or I'd come to your
home.
Um, however now with COVID, theythey've eliminated this portion
of this.
So you will not get a luggagetag anymore.
Instead, you'll still have thereservation of your, uh, disease
(19:26):
, magical express.
We still have to have the, theair airline itinerary, uh, we'll
already have it.
If we booked the flights that wegladly do that for all of our
guests, but in the interim forguests, that book their own
flight, you'll just have to sendthat itinerary to us.
So that way we can then call itinto the disease is magical
(19:47):
express so that we have thatonline.
Check-in for you.
Meanwhile, um, guests now haveto go and get their own luggage,
typically with disease magicalexpress, and you would have
these luggage tags.
Um, I would indicate that theluggage has going on the disease
magical express, hence theywould get that luggage for you.
(20:09):
Okay.
And load it up and off you go.
Now the guests have to do itbecause of COVID.
So, um, when you come into theairport, you're going to go to
the baggage claim, gets yourluggage, and then you want to
follow the signs for terminal B,which yeah.
Is going to take you right to adisease man express.
So once you're there, um, youknow, when you stand in line
(20:33):
and, and, uh, you come in thereto check in, that's not the
resort checking process, this isfor disease magical express.
They're going to confirm thatyou definitely do have a
reservation, uh, because this isa complimentary service for all
resort guests, any guests thatdo not have this service or
staying on property will not beable to, uh, take hold of the
(20:56):
service.
This is strictly for the guestsstaying on property.
And, uh, you know, once you gothrough that process there and
they, they put you in the corralof where your resort is and you
just wait for the bus, those busrun continuously.
So you're not going to bewithout one.
Um, and, uh, yeah, you know, basically the bus is going to be
there.
(21:17):
It's a motor coach designed allwith Mickey and his pals.
Um, there's going to be a lot ofinfo on the motor coach, uh, on
a TV screen.
That's kind of, I tell ya, uh,what to expect now, now that
you're going to the magic.
So it's a woman, wonderful, wonderful little bus ride,
especially for the kids.
And they get all excited and ittakes you right to the resort.
(21:39):
So, you know, it's, it's a greatservice, but the TSA precheck,
and also tsa.gov has a plethoraof info.
We have that on our website, soyou can go there and check it
out out.
Um, I would highly recommend allof our guests to take a look at
the TSA precheck because it's soup to date, it changes fluidly,
(22:04):
just like a Walt Disney world.
And the Walt Disney Trav travelcompany is also doing this is a
very fluid time.
Right.
And things change very rapidly.
So yeah, don't want to be caughtoff guard.
You want to be able to knowbefore you go, which is the fee
pretty much since the reopeningof the theme parks in Walt
(22:24):
Disney world.
So, but, uh, as far as packinggoes, uh, we have a checklist
that we'll send to our guests.
Um, uh, you know, other thingsthat come up that we can also
help with is, uh, you know, stroller rental and scooter
mobility rentals.
We have preferred vendors thatare preferred with Walt Disney
(22:45):
world and the cruise line.
Uh, so that way, you know, wecan facilitate the needs of
those guests.
Um, and for a minimal cost, theytake care of it.
Those companies we'll meet youat the resort.
Uh, we'll set up a time, uh,they'll know when your flight
is, and roughly they'll come inand, and set that up.
(23:06):
Uh, you know, a little bit, maybe 30 minutes after you
arrive, meet you there at theresort.
And then from there, um, theywill then make another time to
pick up the rental, uh, on theday that you check out.
And, uh, they, you know, theyhave paperwork that you have to
sign and stuff, but the rentalcompanies are very great.
They're very responsive, veryreliable.
(23:28):
If you had any issues with, uh,there's a stroller, or whether
it's a, a wheelchair or ascooter, the scooter rental,
they're very, very, uh, um, youknow, reliable and dependable
and they would not be onproperty of dizzy.
Didn't think so.
So, uh, we work, uh, hand inhand with those companies.
(23:48):
So, but, uh, my chip four packand for a Disney trip, uh, we
hope that that brings a littlebit of insight for you and some
info, um, you know, you're goingto know better what to pack then
we will, um, because it's yourfamily, you know, you're gonna,
you're going to want to, uh, youknow, be prepared for them.
(24:09):
We just give you the, the flatprice assess of, you know,
here's the tip typical stuff tobring.
Um, another added tip would beto bring a backpack, bring, uh,
one of those backpacks and emptyone.
Um, because on the day that yougo to the parks, that really
comes in handy, especially ifyou have, have, you know, the
(24:31):
sunscreen, the bug spray, um, ahandy wipe sanitizer.
Um, you're going to see Parralstations throughout the parks,
as well as the attractions andthe restaurants of the resorts
and the parks.
Um, but it's always good to havetwo, uh, for your little ones
and yourself, uh, just thatadded protection.
(24:53):
Um, but, uh, having a backpackis great.
Dizzy is really good.
This too, is that you can bringwater so you could bring water
bottles and you can also bringsnacks.
Uh, so that would be good tohave in the backpack for the
little ones.
However, if you have them diningplan and once they come back and
we'll go over all of that too.
(25:14):
Um, typically the dining planshave snacks included in that,
but there are those familieswith little ones that, you know,
you still want to have a littlebit of snacks for them, uh, just
to, just to curb their littleappetites and, and keep them
happy while they're in themagic.
You know, so cause as long asthey're happy, everybody else is
(25:34):
going to be happy.
And, uh, you know, you don'twant to, uh, not have a happy
camper.
We don't want that on the trip, but, um, there, you have it, if
there's any other suggestions ortips that you want us to cover,
uh, put that in the comments, send us a text, send us an
email.
Uh, we will love to read them.
(25:56):
And, uh, you know, we're here togive you the travel assistance,
the education, and also, youknow, you could discover
services.
We provide as well for all ofour guests, our magical
specialists are workingextremely hard, uh, updating
their education and, and just,uh, you know, that's one thing
about dizzy is that there's nota lack of, you know, so it's
(26:19):
always good to sharpen ourskills and that's what we're
doing.
Uh, throughout this time, that'sbeen paused a little bit at Walt
Disney world and the Disneycruise lines.
Uh, but we are hopeful.
Now we just got some wordyesterday, uh, out of, uh, Walt
Disney world that, uh, there'sgotta be some changes for the
holiday season with some of the,uh, events due to COVID.
(26:43):
Um, but they are going to keeptrying to keep some of the yeah
there, uh, and, and more littlebits of magic to bring the
guests back.
So they miss us just like wemiss them.
And, uh, you know, we miss, Imiss, I truly miss, uh, seeing
all of you, all of my localguests that I typically meet
throughout the time of the year.
(27:03):
Um, you know, we just don't meetone time.
We meet several times whetherit's by phone, but typically in
person and due to code, have itright now, we had to cease that
a little bit.
But, um, once we get back tothat, I can't wait.
I can't wait to see, I see allof you and I hope you're all
doing well.
I know that the kids just wentback to school and it's a very
(27:25):
stressful time for everybody.
Our hearts and prayers are withthose families.
I think about you always, I loveseeing the post of the kids.
I call them my Disney kidsbecause, um, I know these
families very well.
I've grown up with thesefamilies and they're, they're an
extension of me and I'm of them.
And, uh, I love seeing thephotos of them all getting
(27:48):
raised to go back to school, sobest wishes to them.
I wish them a great year goingforward.
Um, and for the parents also, and also for the teachers and
the staff, because it's, it's anextremely difficult time.
This is not, uh, this is notsomething that anybody's an
expert in.
It changes like the wind and,uh, you know, if you can change
(28:12):
with it and you can move withit, like, like how it's supposed
to go, um, you know, then it'sgoing to be a little bit easier,
but still it's stressful.
And so our hearts and prayersare with you all.
We wish you all the best.
We can't wait until, you know,we get into the new year and,
you know, a lot of us want toforget 2020, uh, you know, but,
(28:36):
uh, you know, 20, 21 is on thehorizon.
We're slowly getting there and,uh, you know, we're going to be
here throughout.
So if you guys have anyquestions at all, feel free to
contact us, let us know howwe're doing in this podcast
world.
It's new for us, a whole new Mand a, you know, we wanna try to
(28:57):
, uh, be hip to what's going onand you know, how we can do
better.
Um, and, and that's why, becausewithout you guys, we would not
be here.
So we appreciate all of ourmembers, all of our guests and
those who've, who've traveledwith us in the past.
And really those who are goingto be traveling with us in the
future, because a lot of theguests who were supposed to be
(29:20):
traveling now and, and who weresupposed to be traveling back in
March, April, and may, um, hadto postpone it.
We moved it into September.
And when the magic still wasn'tthere, uh, we moved them again
into 2021.
So, um, we're anticipating, um,a whole new world.
(29:41):
Oh, there's a, there's a littletip right there, a little pun to
a song, a whole new world, uh,waiting for us in 2021 and, uh,
you know, a magical time for allof you.
So we will gladly keep you up todate.
Um, you know, we have someoffers that were just coming out
