Joni (00:39):
Hi.
Hi.
Hi.
Nick (00:40):
So there's something I
forgot to mention on last week's
show.
Okay.
We did a room tour of our DisneyDream room, our veranda room on
the Disney Dream.
And I didn't tell everybody thatit's up on our YouTube channel.
Joni (00:51):
Oh, I thought you did.
Oh, he told me.
Nick (00:53):
Yeah, I did tell her.
So, that is up on our YouTubechannel.
We did a quick tour, it's onlyabout seven
Joni (00:58):
95, 38, if I remember
Nick (01:00):
38.
Very good.
You know, I could not rememberthat until like day four of our
crews.
And now it's stuck in my head.
Well,
Joni (01:06):
you know, because we
searched looking for one that we
could look to see exactly whatour view would be.
And there isn't one.
So now there is,
Nick (01:13):
there is one, uh, yeah,
95, 38.
So, uh,
Joni (01:16):
I don't know about others,
but I always like to see where
am I gonna be Exactly
Nick (01:20):
You can go in with a plan
and, um,
Joni (01:22):
well, and then some of'em,
like you said, have partial,
blockage
Nick (01:25):
on the verandas.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Joni (01:26):
So ours does.
Ours did not.
Nick (01:28):
So yeah, it's only about
seven minutes.
Uh, it's pretty informative.
I went through everything in theroom.
Mm-hmm.
Uh, outlets and storage and soyeah, it was just a standard
room.
It wasn't a family room, juststandard branda room.
Yeah.
Joni (01:38):
But still you could sleep
four in there.
Family of four could sleep inthere
Nick (01:41):
for sure.
That's up on our YouTubechannel, so go over there and
check that out.
Sure.
And also don't forget the ahundred dollars gift card.
Yeah.
To enter that, go to ourFacebook page and comment on the
pinned post, the post with thepicture of a gift card on it.
Once I like your comment, youare entered.
Joni (01:59):
Yeah.
We're not.
Nick (01:59):
not,
Joni (02:01):
We're not liking any, I
mean, we don't like photo or
comments elsewhere, but you'vebeen correcting if people are
going the wrong spot, haven'tyou?
Nick (02:08):
I haven't seen any.
Joni (02:08):
Oh, perfect.
Nick (02:09):
But yeah, you do have to
follow in like our page and,
comment on there.
And then once I like that, um,you're good to go.
And if you tag somebody, you gettwo
Joni (02:18):
Woo.
Nick (02:19):
Two entries.
So this, the deadline for thatis Saturday, December 20th at
noon, and we are going toannounce that winner on our show
airing December 22nd can
Joni (02:29):
Lemme ask a question.
Is there a limit to only taggingone person?
Nick (02:32):
I think so.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think so.
Well, no, you could tag, no,lemme correct myself.
You can tag as many as you want, but you're only gonna get two
entries.
Oh, okay.
Joni (02:40):
That's what I meant.
If you tag five people, do youget 10 entries?
No.
No, not 10 entries.
Five.
Five entries Plus your personal.
Yeah.
No.
Okay.
Nick (02:49):
we're just gonna, yeah,
we're just gonna leave
Joni (02:50):
just be transparent about
what we're doing.
Nick (02:53):
Um.
Joni (02:53):
So
Nick (02:54):
That's it.
Oh no, there's a little bit morehousekeeping next week.
We're gonna be recording early, because we leave for Disney.
Joni (03:01):
We have a
Nick (03:02):
on Sunday,
Joni (03:02):
yeah.
And, happy Thanksgiving.
Nick (03:04):
Thanksgiving though, was
my next thing on the, on the
list.
Joni (03:07):
yay my favorite.
Nick (03:08):
some Thanksgiving news to
go over, but, yeah.
Happy Thanksgiving.
We're actually probably gonna berecording on Thanksgiving
Joni (03:14):
Yes, we will
Nick (03:14):
because with our, our
family dinners and our travel
plans, that's gonna be the bestday we can record.
Joni (03:20):
Our oldest is hosting this
year for her first, well, her
second time, but second time.
Nick (03:24):
time.
Joni (03:25):
But, she's having
expecting a lot of people, so it
actually gives us a break.
Nick (03:30):
Joni's having a hard time
passing the Turkey.
Joni (03:32):
Well, not as hard as you'd
think, but we are still gonna do
Christmas, but yeah.
So we'll see If all goes well, she can, she can have it.
Nick (03:39):
Yep.
Joni (03:40):
Every year, after year,
after year.
Nick (03:41):
Yeah.
You know, that's what happenswhen, you get, you start
adulting, you get older, youknow, those things start to
happen.
I saw a meme.
It's, somebody said when you're40 and you get your first time
asked, what are you bringing fora side to Thanksgiving on her?
Right.
Joni (03:56):
Instead of like preparing
the whole thing and you're the
one asking others, what are you
Nick (03:59):
Yep.
Joni (04:01):
Well, that's how it is
this year.
So we're taking.
Nick (04:03):
pauses.
Yep.
We're taking
Joni (04:04):
five.
We,
Nick (04:05):
We got an easy,
Joni (04:05):
we got an easy route.
Nick (04:07):
Today is, Sunday, November
23rd.
So ev all the news is currenttill now, and, uh, I think we
should just get right into it.
You ready?
Magic Kingdom, all dates aresold out from very merry
Christmas party.
Okay, so I.
I don't know.
They're done.
Joni (04:22):
That's okay.
Nick (04:22):
So if you do have plans to
go, you know, you didn't buy
tickets, you forgot or whateverslight chance, you can just, you
know, you can blow Disney upand, it does happen.
It's rare, but it does happen.
Joni (04:36):
I'd be nervous to, I'd be
nervous.
I would just say, oh, next year.
Nick (04:40):
Um, yeah, I'm
Joni (04:41):
I'm gonna do it early
Nick (04:42):
I'm one of the people I, I
gotta have it done, you know,
i's
Joni (04:44):
I, that's a lot of money
to invest and then have nothing,
Nick (04:47):
Yeah.
Joni (04:48):
not be able to get tickets
for it.
Nick (04:50):
that's, yeah.
And, the boat transportation toDisney's Wilderness Lodge will
temporarily be suspended inJanuary for refurbishment and
bus transportation will beavailable.
Okay.
I thought this was interesting
Joni (05:03):
Extra buses.
Nick (05:04):
uh, it didn't, didn't say
probably just bus
transportation.
'cause it's normally boat.
This was interesting'cause this, this never happens on our shows,
but this directly goes alongwith our tip or trick from last
week.
Our tipper trick from last weekwas to check that park calendar
60 to 70 days out.
Joni (05:21):
I remember.
Nick (05:22):
Okay, what?
That's important and I'll tellyou why.
Joni (05:24):
a list, checking it
Nick (05:25):
Magic Kingdom will close
early.
At 4:30 PM on Tuesday, January27th.
Oh.
Of
Joni (05:32):
Oh yeah.
26.
So look at
Nick (05:34):
this is, yeah.
That's a huge, you know, yeah.
We just talked about it lastweek.
Exactly.
Most likely due to the annualcast member celebration.
Kinda like their Christmasparty.
So it's important.
Check that
Joni (05:45):
So yeah, any of you that
have vacations planned for that
time and perhaps didn't checkit, here's your, uh, notice
Nick (05:51):
January 27th, four 30
Magic Kingdom will be closing.
Joni (05:54):
That's a really
considerable amount of time
they'd be missing if you'reexpecting a full day at the
park.
Nick (06:00):
the park?
Oh yeah.
Four 30.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's um, yeah.
Joni (06:03):
yeah,
Nick (06:04):
I bet it, I bet you know,
that'd be actually probably a
great day to go.
It's gonna be dead.
I bet it's gonna be dead.
Well,
Joni (06:10):
Well, yeah.
Hardly anybody's gonna be
Nick (06:11):
so if you had an extra day
to burn, you know, and, big
Thunder Mountain that's beenclosed for a while.
It's set to open in 2026.
They have begun testing the ridevehicles, so we're getting
closer.
They have not announced the, uh,date opening date yet, but
they're still saying sometime in2026, I'm assuming early 2026.
So that's it for, magic Kingdomat Hollywood Knights in
(06:33):
Hollywood Studios.
We have another sold out day, sothe sold out days for Hollywood
Knight are November 8th, 15th,22nd, and 24th are all sold out.
I know three of those days arein the past, but I made the
list.
Joni (06:49):
So if you're planning on
going those days.
Nick (06:50):
Yeah, if you planning on
going those days.
All right.
That's it for Park News.
That's all we have for
Joni (06:55):
What?
Nick (06:55):
What?
But yeah, we have some, miscellaneous news was kind of
heavy, so.
Joni (06:58):
so
Nick (06:58):
Stay with me on this
Joni (06:59):
one.
No Epcot, no animal Kingdom,
Nick (07:02):
major.
No.
Um, Thanksgiving meals, ifyou're gonna be in the parks
this week.
Oh, Thanksgiving meals at DisneyWorld.
I'm gonna give you a list ofplaces where you can go have
Thanksgiving meals.
Joni (07:12):
Oh nice.
Okay.
Nick (07:12):
Oh, nice.
Okay.
Ale and Compass at Disney YachtClub.
Garden Grill at Epcot Hollywoodand Vine at Hollywood Studios.
Liberty Tree Tavern at MagicKingdoms Olivia's Cafe at Old
Key West.
Sana at Animal Kingdom LodgeSteakhouse 71 at the
Contemporary Diamond Horseshoeat Magic Kingdom, and Whispering
(07:34):
Canyon Cafe at the WildernessLodge.
Oh gosh.
They're all gonna beparticipating in Thanksgiving
dinners.
Joni (07:40):
Oh, that's good.
Okay.
Nick (07:42):
That's good.
Okay, here's a big one.
Okay,
Joni (07:44):
Okay.
Nick (07:44):
came out.
This was all over the place.
Disney's Senior Executive VP andCFO Hugh Johnston says, Walt
Disney World and DisneylandResort may implement constantly
fluctuating dynamic ticketpricing that changes based on
demand.
They've been experimenting withthis in Disneyland, Paris.
He says There's been no negativefeedback.
(08:06):
you
Joni (08:07):
Can you elaborate a little
bit more what
Nick (08:08):
Oh, yes.
Because it is very confusing, and I'm gonna tell you a
question.
He was asked, he spoke at anevent, a Wells Fargo event, I
believe, and I'm gonna, so I'll,I'll explain what this is.
From the best that we know, thedynamic pricing system means
tickets would change in pricebased on the live demand from
guests.
So ticket prices for a singleday would not remain fixed and
(08:29):
could change whenever they couldget higher if more guests are
buying tickets for that day, orthey could decrease if tickets
aren't selling.
So he was asked, is this kind oflike airline pricing the way
airlines do it?
He says.
I don't like to think of it thatway, but in a way, yes.
I'm paraphrasing what he said.
(08:50):
So this is not happening now.
This is probably not happeningnext year, possibly in 2027.
He has not said that, but hesaid they had, with the
Disneyland model, they gottatweak it and optimize it before
they bring it domestically.
What does this mean?
This a lot of
Joni (09:07):
wait.
They're doing this at DisneylandParis
Nick (09:09):
They have been
experimenting this for a year in
Disneyland, Paris,
Joni (09:12):
They're wanting to bring
that to both Florida and
California
Nick (09:16):
The domestic parks and
probably model it
Joni (09:18):
and, okay,
Nick (09:20):
We have to see what this
looks like.
Joni (09:22):
I don't like it.
Nick (09:24):
it, it could be, you know,
Joni (09:26):
Okay, so once they get a
date or a price set for the day,
is it remain that or does it gohour by hour?
Even once you,
Nick (09:32):
from what I understand,
once you purchase that ticket,
you're locked in.
Joni (09:37):
I mean, but if, let's say
somebody purchases at 10:00 AM
at such and such price and thenit goes up or down as you get
later in the day.
Well, I mean, I know I'm not,I'm not looking for like a
Nick (09:49):
No, no, no, no.
I know.
No, no, it's, that's a goodquestion because even on
Joni (09:53):
they set the price for the
day, is that the price for the
day or can even the daily pricefluctuate
Nick (09:59):
that's a great question
because airlines do that.
Airlines literally change by theminute in some
Joni (10:04):
them.
Nick (10:05):
now would that mean if you
bought a ticket for whatever
Joni (10:08):
January
Nick (10:09):
and the price dropped,
when you get closer to there, do
you get a refund?
Joni (10:13):
Yeah.
Well, in that case, yeah.
Nick (10:14):
Who knows.
So this is not happening anytimesoon, but
Joni (10:19):
this would be a good
thing.
I mean, those calendars whereyou check where it's like crowd
heavy, some of those are notvery reliable.
They're not super aga.
It's a good guideline to maybego by, but don't trust it as
gold.
Nick (10:30):
But what I always say is
use it for finding out when
cheer events are.
Right.
Um, when holiday races.
Joni (10:37):
Mm-hmm.
Nick (10:38):
Um, if you want to get
what Disney thinks they're going
to be busy, look at the annualpast blackout dates.
That's when Disney thinksthey're gonna be busy.
Joni (10:46):
busy.
I wonder if this is reallygonna, well, it probably won't.
It's Disney, lower attendance,but.
Because it seems like it'salways, I mean, we've had maybe
two days that we've been therewhere it's been like, where is
Nick (10:56):
everybody?
Yeah.
This
Joni (10:57):
is like a great time
Nick (10:58):
mm-hmm.
Joni (10:59):
You know, but other than
that, every time we've been,
it's been packed.
Nick (11:02):
Yeah.
There's a lot of questions withthis.
I'm, I'm very interested to seehow it's going to work.
But like I said, it's nothing toworry about in the near future.
Okay.
Know
Joni (11:10):
you try it, I suppose.
Yeah.
Nick (11:12):
All right.
Onto other news, Disney'sWilderness Lodge has opened
their holiday market table witha small chocolate and
gingerbread cabin instead oftheir Lifesize display.
That was a last minute thing.
Everybody thought the Lifesize,,gingerbread house was going up
there and.
Whatever reason last minute itchanged.
So, and the annual gingerbreadcarousel at Disney Beach Club
(11:33):
Resort is complete.
This year marks the 25thanniversary of the carousel and
it has the number 25 all overit.
Joni (11:40):
We're gonna have to go see
that.
Nick (11:41):
The miniature see it last
night?
No.
The miniature Christmas Villageis back for another holiday
season at Disney's Yacht Club.
The villages in the lobby andthe ABT Christmas tree and
decorations and the Disney'sboardwalk.
Has decorated for the holidayswith its annual gingerbread
house.
So the gingerbread houses areup.
Joni (11:59):
I know what we're gonna be
doing on our off day when we go
to.
Nick (12:02):
Yep.
And I, that's part of our tipand trick.
So, and, according to WaltDisney World website, the room
refurbishments at Disney's PortOrleans Resort.
Riverside will continue throughsummer of 2027.
It was originally scheduled tobe completed in February the
Walt Disney Company Brands andStudios received a record
breaking 103 nominations for theChildren's and family Emmy
(12:23):
Awards.
103 nominations.
Wow.
And going along with that,Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and
Edina Menzel have signed massivedeals for Frozen three and four,
making it one of the biggestdeals in animation history.
Joni (12:38):
Yeah.
That was a huge thing.
Anyway.
Yeah.
Nick (12:40):
The, yeah.
The two movies are going to makebe made simultaneously.
Joni (12:44):
Okay.
So,
Nick (12:45):
um, I was reading the
numbers and it was really
confusing.
I'm like, so did the actors signfor this?
Or is that how much?
It was really weird.
So, we'll, to say was a massivedeal because that's what I read.
Joni (12:55):
being made simultaneously.
So that right there, I mean it'sgonna be probably a Christmas
time release in my head, I wouldsuspect.
Yeah.
And hmm, interesting.
Cool.
Nick (13:05):
to recap, the gingerbread
displays, I know I've been
saying, I'm gonna say wherethey're at.
So, so far we have Disney'sContemporary, the Boardwalk.
Beach Club Animal Kingdom Lodgeand Wilderness Lodge are the
gingerbread spots this year.
Joni (13:20):
Okay,
Nick (13:21):
So Animal Kingdom is not
up yet, but we're gonna be there
next week, so I'm sure they'reworking on it.
Joni (13:27):
Yeah.
So I think you should put thison the blog somewhere.
Nick (13:30):
I will, yeah.
Yeah, I'll do that for sure.
Joni (13:32):
Where it's at and what,
what's being displayed, whether
it's the carousel or
Nick (13:36):
I can do that.
That's it for my news.
Okay.
Dynamic pricing, so stay tunedfor that.
Joni (13:41):
not excited about that,
but I'm excited to see the
carousel in the tree finally.
Yeah, our tree finally.
Nick (13:47):
sure.
Yeah.
Animal Kingdom.
We just missed it by a coupledays last year.
It is not as far as I know.
It is not up yet.
Joni (13:54):
but
Nick (13:54):
I think they're all
supposed to be up by
Joni (13:55):
Don't be talking rubbish.
Nick (13:57):
they're all supposed to be
up by Thanksgiving, so.
All right.
Well that's
Joni (14:00):
I have confident we are
going to see it whether we have
to extend the vacation.
We are going to see it if
Nick (14:05):
If we don't see it.
I'm not going back.
That is
Joni (14:08):
That is not true.
Nick (14:09):
selling our contracts and
we're Yeah.
Yeah.
Joni (14:13):
I'll buy'em out.
Nick (14:14):
Okay.
Joni (14:15):
Where would you like to
go?
Movies or ride, or what would
Nick (14:18):
Spotlight on Attraction.
That's where we usually goafter, after the news.
Joni (14:22):
All right.
Well, we are entering intoFrontier Land today.
Yeah.
Today we're gonna do CountryBear Musical Jamboree.
It is, like I said, in FrontierLand at Grizzly Hall.
It's indoor and air conditionedanimatronic show.
It's newly reimagined whereHenry Trixie, big Al and their
(14:42):
pals are playing some of yourfavorite Disney songs alongside
a heap and open of SouthernCharm.
So this, this had a remake
Nick (14:51):
in 2023.
2023.
We
Joni (14:53):
had a remake.
So pretty sure we saw this new, this newer show and
Nick (14:57):
the new show.
Yeah, I liked it.
Joni (14:59):
Yeah.
Can you believe this, thecapacity of the theater that
it's in 380?
Nick (15:05):
Really?
Yeah.
It doesn't look that big.
Joni (15:06):
It does not look that big,
Nick (15:08):
huh?
That children sitting on laps?
Joni (15:10):
who knows?
Little tiny children.
Um, the seating arrangement islong padded benches that have
back rest.
The seating is limited forwheelchairs or electric scooter
vehicles, and those are in thefront row, so they may be filled
up.
If you need to have that, um,feature available to you.
I didn't realize when we wentthat they were, you know, only
(15:32):
select number, but there was alot of seating remaining.
So I think, I mean, yeah.
And I don't remember themtelling us in that, in that
theater, you know how they'realways like, well come in and
come all the way down.
And they
Nick (15:43):
Move all the way
Joni (15:43):
all the way through.
They didn't do
Nick (15:45):
There was nobody directing
Joni (15:46):
Nope.
I think it's because it's such abig area.
So as I'm.
Saying that, I guess you can sitwherever you'd like.
Nick (15:53):
Yeah.
We sat over by the, what do youcall'em?
The busts, I guess, you know, the animals hanging on the wall
like, like the hunted animals.
That was pretty fun.
We sat right below them.
Joni (16:02):
Yeah.
And it was, very in, it was veryinteractive and yeah, and it was
fun.
So, no lightning lane.
Of any type.
With this one, you can remain,as I said, in your, scooter or
wheelchair, just down in thefront row, selective spots.
And I don't know if they'll letyou go on the sides or if that's
the only designated spot so youdon't have to be separated from
family or whatever, right?
(16:22):
I don't know.
Assisted listening devices andhandheld captioning devices are
available.
The show is about 16 minutes.
It opened in Walt Disney World.
This new show opened Walt DisneyWorld July 17th, 2024.
Nick (16:36):
Okay,
Joni (16:36):
So it's a reimagined
version of Makes Sense.
The Classic Country BearJamboree, which opened in
October 1st, 1971.
Mm-hmm.
Nick (16:44):
Mm-hmm.
Joni (16:44):
There was a lot of, mixed
feedback on this.
You know, revamping the, the
Nick (16:50):
there always is.
Yep.
Uh,
Joni (16:52):
there is lobby seating
available.
I'm gonna list, yeah, I'm gonnalist some Easter eggs that are
found in here.
This is kind of what I have onmy bonus info.
And I didn't list all of them, but I will name a few here.
So in the lobby there is anapkin that is from the Hungry
Bear Restaurant, a wood carvingthat shows dates for the
original country Bear Jamboreeat Disneyland and the opening of
(17:16):
the Walt Disney World CountryBear Jamboree.
Nick (17:18):
There is
Joni (17:19):
a napkin featuring a set
list for the show that is on
display.
A penny from the new p Pennypress.
Is available to look at and itfor purchase fans can find a
reference to the former, theFive Bear Rugs banned within the
attraction and a familiar tuneremains from the original
(17:41):
country.
Bear Jamboree, the Ballad ofDavy Crockett, reformed by Henry
and Sammy the raccoon and itsinclusion was a deliberate nod
to the cultural phenomenon ofthe 1950s, meaning that adult
guests would have known it.
By heart from Walt Disney's TVshow about the legendary
frontiersmen.
Nick (18:00):
Okay,
Joni (18:01):
So they did take out the
other iconic song, blood on the
Saddle.
Mm-hmm.
Nick (18:07):
Mm-hmm.
That was performed
Joni (18:08):
by Big Al.
Nick (18:09):
a big controversy.
Joni (18:10):
yeah.
So
Nick (18:11):
not happy.
Joni (18:12):
yeah, I guess that was a
show.
I didn't see that one.
It was a show that, featured acameo of the original
character's, liver lip and McGrowl.
Nick (18:22):
Dunno,
Joni (18:22):
don't know, but I just
thought liver lips was kind of
fun to say and read, so I justwanted to
Nick (18:28):
like an insult of fifth
grader would call another fifth
Joni (18:30):
it does sound like
Nick (18:32):
leave me alone liver lips.
Joni (18:33):
So that's what I have for
country bear.
So I just thought I'd throw outa little bit of, um, Easter eggs
there if you're around andabout, but it just kind of fun
walking through the lobby.
It keeps you entertained and
Nick (18:43):
Yeah.
And it's a good air conditioningshow to see, you know, it's not
just one, you go in for the acit's one that, it's
entertaining.
Yeah.
It's good.
Joni (18:50):
Yeah.
In 16 minutes if you need abreak or if it's raining.
'cause you're out of theelements completely.
Nick (18:54):
Yep.
Joni (18:55):
So, yeah, it's a nice
place to be.
Alright.
And you get to enjoy some musicand tap your foot and sing
along.
Yeah.
So it's good stuff.
Nick (19:03):
And they do, the bears
come out, hang out around there
Joni (19:06):
Yes, they do.
Nick (19:06):
out in the, uh, you know,
meeting the, meeting the people.
Joni (19:09):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just like always.
Yep.
So, yeah.
Pretty cool.
Nick (19:13):
yeah.
Pretty good.
Okay.
Thanks Jonie.
You bet.
Joni (19:14):
Yep, you bet.
Nick (19:15):
Now onto our movie.
Okay.
We just watched this because Ihad never seen this one, so I
had to watch it.
Joni (19:20):
So
Nick (19:21):
So this,
Joni (19:22):
this movie, it doesn't
really have a princess per se,
but there is a, a follow upthat.
They get married.
So, but she's not a princess inthis movie.
But we're gonna talk aboutHercules.
Hercules.
And as far as his girlfriend, her name is Mara, and he, calls
her Meg for short.
Nick (19:39):
make for short.
Joni (19:40):
It, is a June 13th, 1997,
first appearance, 93 minutes.
The budget's 85 million.
The box office pulled 252.7million.
Nick (19:51):
Okay.
Joni (19:51):
Okay.
Directed by John Musker and RonClements.
And the film is an animatedmusical fantasy comedy based
loosely on the legendary heroherles.
Known in this film by his Romanname of Hercules.
So it's really an actualmythology person that
Nick (20:08):
I did.
I didn't know he had a differentname.
Joni (20:10):
but you know what, and as
I'm gonna talk about this show
or this film,
Nick (20:15):
everything
Joni (20:15):
in it, like I looked up, I
clicked on all the people's
names and there's reallysomebody in Greek mythology with
that name and they have a role.
Obviously Disney's gonna.
You know, kid friendly, right?
All these roles.
So if you really wanna know thehistory of it, if you're into
the Greek mythologies, look itup.
You can go in and there's gonnabe different, a different ending
(20:37):
than what's goes on in Disney'sworld.
So, in any case, the characterMeg is loosely based on Mara
and, and I dunno how to say thisname.
It's D-E-I-A-N-I-R-A.
Nick (20:53):
Diara maybe.
Something like that.
Okay.
Joni (20:56):
Those were the, in the
Greek mythology, those were his
first and third wives.
So it's based, um, on faninterpretations.
Megan, the movie is 28 andHercules is 18, and her traits
are, she's introduced initiallyas a cynical, young woman
enslaved by Hades, who happensto be.
(21:19):
Hercules Evil uncle and God ofthe underworld, and she, her and
other traits are she'squick-witted and sarcastic,
independent, heroic, and she hassome underlying traits that
she's lonely and traumatizedbecause of a bad ordeal that
happened where Hades was goingto set her boyfriend, free Meg's
(21:42):
boyfriend, and it backfired.
The boyfriend.
Chose to woo another girl andleft Meg, left Meg as a,
prisoner to Haiti at that point.
So she's, self-sacrificing andcaring is other, traits of hers.
So Meg and Hercules both areGreek.
She calls him Wonder Boy, andhe, in addition to being Greek,
(22:05):
is a diming God.
So, as I said, she's not anactual princess, but.
They consider her role withHercules.
They consider her as one, andthey do end up getting married,
not in the 1997 film, but at thelater on film it's an adventure
that follows Hercules, the superstrong son of.
Nick (22:23):
of Zeus
Joni (22:24):
Who is turned mortal as a
baby by the villainous Hades
growing up on Earth.
He feels out of place because ofhis incredible strength, so he
sets out to discover where hetruly belongs.
And with the guidance of theSeder trainer, Phil, and support
from the quick-witted, MegHercules trains to become a true
(22:46):
hero, all while Haiti schemes tooverthrow Zeus and take control
of Mount Olympus.
Sidekicks of Hades, he's got acouple of laxy lackeys and
they're pain and panic and theyare hilarious.
And I,
Nick (23:01):
They're not very good at
their
Joni (23:02):
And I don't know, is it,
is it, Gilbert Godfried played
one of them?
The voice?
Nick (23:08):
Oh, you know who it was?
No, it was Bobcat.
Uh, lemme look it up.
I'm pretty sure it was Bobcat
Joni (23:13):
ahead and you go ahead and
look that up.
But then we also have a wingedhorse, Pegasus.
Who was given to Hercules ashis, um, gift from his father
Zeus, and the trainer of heroeswho I had named Phil is the
Seder and his biological parentsare Zeus and her of Mount
Olympus.
(23:33):
And then he has his adoptiveparents who find him in Save Him
in in the Earth world.
Nick (23:38):
In the Earth
Joni (23:39):
In the world, in the Earth
world.
So.
Did you find out who, what theirnames are?
Okay, so
Nick (23:44):
Panic is played by a
fellow named Matt Reer, and Pain
is paid, played by BobcatGoldway.
Joni (23:50):
my goodness.
I was way off.
Yeah.
That just, for some reason it
Nick (23:53):
like No, he has that voice
and he bobcat's the one that's
on police academies and you know
Joni (23:57):
Oh, okay.
He
Nick (23:58):
that screaming voice.
Yeah.
Okay.
Very similar to to GilbertGodfrey.
Joni (24:01):
Okay.
And follow up movies direct tovideo.
Sequel titled Hercules Zero toHero.
That came out in 1999.
Then a live action, no officialrelease date as the project is
still in early development.
They kind of started it and thenthey had to halt it.
And then, I'm not gonna saynames, but somebody was in it
and backed out of it becausethere was a lot of other things
(24:24):
going on and they were trying tofind casting for it and yada
yada.
So in any case, it's still inearly development and is
awaiting a final script.
Nick (24:32):
script.
Okay.
Joni (24:33):
So there are recent
unconfirmed reports suggest a
potential 2027 release, butagain, it's not official.
And some sources in Greekmythology say that the actual
Hercules and Mara
Nick (24:48):
Mara
Joni (24:49):
have three sons, whereas
other sources say eight sons as
children
Nick (24:54):
Okay.
Joni (24:55):
in this show, in this
film.
There's none.
Nothing.
Nick (24:59):
No.
This is kind of where they,
Joni (25:00):
So I'm kind of going
Nick (25:01):
and fall in love kind of
thing.
Joni (25:02):
Yep.
So I'm kind of going like Disneyand then throwing a little bit
of the real stuff in there.
But as I said, there's lots ifyou wanna investigate on your
own.
As far as awards, there are 16nominations and nine wins of
those wins.
We have four Annies, anA-S-C-A-P, film and Television
Music Award.
(25:24):
A golden reel for best soundediting.
Los Angeles Film CriticsAssociation Award for best
animation and the online filmand television association
reward for best voiceoverperformance that went to James
Woods for playing Hades.
Hades.
Yeah, so
Nick (25:43):
So
Joni (25:44):
that's what I got for, for
good old Hercules
Nick (25:47):
the first time I watched
it.
It, it was good.
Not my favorite, but it wasgood.
Joni (25:50):
My sister used to call
Zachary Hercules when he was
little.
Yeah.
Nick (25:56):
that's her son.
Yeah.
Joni (25:59):
Yeah.
If you guys, it's
Nick (25:59):
not, not our dog
Joni (26:00):
that, that was like
conversation that I'm looking at
Nick telling him, because healready knows who Zachary is.
But Zachary is is my son and mysister always called him
Hercules'cause he was so stockyand solid when he was little.
So, but anyway.
Yep, that's what I got.
Nick (26:15):
All right.
Thanks Joni.
Yeah,
Joni (26:17):
you bet.
Nick (26:17):
This week's tip or trick,
we talked about it before and I
don't know.
If we've done this as a tip ortrick, but I'm saying it because
we're gonna do it and we'regonna report back on it.
We always say do the free thingsin Disney.
Yeah,
Joni (26:29):
Yeah,
Nick (26:30):
gonna do the Christmas
resort hop.
We're going to all theGingerbreads.
Yeah.
So we're gonna do it
Joni (26:36):
this way.
We are gonna do it
Nick (26:37):
We are gonna do it.
Yeah.
And we're gonna report backbecause it's free.
You know we are not going to anyDisney parks on this trip.
Well, I take that back.
We get the free water parkcheck-in day.
We're doing two universal daysand we're doing resort.
The rest, the other three daysare gonna be resort days, so
we're gonna do the Christmasresort hop one of the days.
Joni (26:54):
I mean, you can really
literally make a full day out of
that.
Yeah.
Nick (26:57):
I mean, and you get to go
on the, you know, the monorail
and, and,
Joni (27:01):
may even stop and have
lunch, uh, Thanksgiving lunch at
one of these.
Nick (27:05):
These well known, it'll be
done by then.
Thanksgiving lunch.
leave
Joni (27:08):
oh yes.
Christmas lunch.
Nick (27:11):
but we'll go on a boat and
I don't know, we may just go on
a skyliner just to go on theSkyliner.
Who knows?
Joni (27:17):
Well, we will have a
little with us, so Yeah, a
little.
Not so little, but yeah.
Nick (27:21):
Yeah.
But, um, but yeah,
Joni (27:22):
he'll enjoy seeing all
these,
Nick (27:23):
I think so.
Yeah.
These gingerbreads
Joni (27:25):
too, he'll be amazed about
how big they are
Nick (27:27):
we'll just keep feeding
them gingerbread.
Joni (27:30):
Why not keep feeding me
gingerbread?
They're good.
Nick (27:33):
Okay.
So yeah, we're gonna report onthe Christmas hop or the, yeah,
the resort hop.
With all the gingerbreaddisplays.
Joni (27:37):
Yeah.
Nick (27:39):
So that's gonna do it for
this week.
Like I said, we're gonna berecording early next week due to
the holiday.
