My name is Nick.
I'm your host, and along with meis Joanie, as always.
Joni (00:28):
Hi.
NIck (00:30):
A little inside joke just
happened.
Um,
Joni (00:33):
Hello everyone.
NIck (00:35):
So
Joni (00:35):
I'm here
NIck (00:37):
today is July, Sunday,
July 27th.
So everything we talk abouttoday will be current to July
27th.
Joni and I have had a very busyweekend.
It's late on Sunday night.
Uh, we had an engagement partyto plan for and Joanie did all
the cooking for that.
Joni (00:54):
I did.
Our son is getting married inMay, so he is given us 10 short
months to.
Help with this.
And, um, we fed about how manypeople do you think
NIck (01:03):
man.
Well, 50 rsvp I would guessthere was 50 in and out of
there.
50 to
Joni (01:07):
50 to 60.
I would, yeah.
NIck (01:09):
Joni made all the food
except for, uh, we bought some
chicken at the local, uh, deli.
Joni (01:13):
Yeah.
Didn't wanna have to pullanybody away to do any grilling,
so we
NIck (01:16):
we just, she cooked all
day, all night Friday from what,
four o'clock till midnight?
Yeah.
And then woke up Saturday.
And it all,
Joni (01:25):
finished it off.
NIck (01:26):
everything was delicious.
Everybody.
Everybody said everything wasdelicious too.
Yeah.
I heard many compliments on thefood, especially Joni found a
new recipe for a potato salad, which is not a traditional
potato
Joni (01:38):
yeah, you grill the
potatoes.
I've never had a grilled one,but we made it for 4th of July
when the kids came over to letthem try it
NIck (01:44):
and there's apple cider
vinegar in
Joni (01:45):
there is apple cider
vinegar.
And we also as, as we had saidon another show, we had.
Firework party I
NIck (01:52):
Yeah.
4th of July.
Joni (01:53):
and all the neighbors were
commenting on that potato salad
too.
So I knew that was gonna be ahit.
NIck (01:58):
Yeah, it was really good.
Everything was good.
So we've had a very busyweekend.
I was trying to keep up to dateon all the Disney news.
I think I got it all, but if Imissed anything, please forgive
me.
Like I said, we were, we werevery busy this weekend.
So we'll just get right into thenews at Magic Kingdom where we
always start tickets for theMickey's very Merry Christmas
(02:19):
party are now on sale toeverybody.
So they always go on sale toresort guests first and then.
Seven days later, they startwith the general public, so it's
on sale for everybody.
Tickets this year range from 169to nine to 229 per person plus
tax, depending on the date yougo with.
(02:39):
This is a slight increase fromlast year, which topped out at
219, so you're looking at 10more dollars from the most
expensive night.
Joni (02:47):
more down.
NIck (02:49):
And at the Mickey's not so
scary Halloween party this year,
there's another sold out night.
So all the sold out nights noware August 17th and August 19th
and Halloween night.
So August 17th and 19th are thetwo cheapest days to go.
They're both sold out, gone,gone.
So Donezo, if you want, if youwanted to get in cheap, you
(03:10):
missed your chance.
Joni (03:12):
Well, it's not that much.
I
NIck (03:14):
No, it's probably, I
didn't look at the prices.
It's usually like a$10 increaseor something.
So, uh, and then Halloweennight, of course, sells out
always.
Joni (03:22):
every, that's always the
first.
NIck (03:24):
yeah, that's always the
Joni (03:24):
It's, that's when we
wanted to go and we couldn't
NIck (03:26):
Couldn't get it.
Couldn't get it.
Yeah.
And the main street, USArailroad station is now fully
open to guests following alengthy refurbishment, so that
is open to use.
I saw some pictures that lookedlike,
Joni (03:40):
choo.
NIck (03:42):
it looked like they used
some new flooring, or they put
in some new flooring and somefresh paint.
So that is up and running andready to go.
Disney has filed a permit todemolish the former Aunt Poly's
on Tom Sawyer Island
Joni (03:57):
for the piston peak.
NIck (03:58):
For the piston peak
expansion.
Yes.
Perfect.
And I did see today, they movedthe riverboats.
They must be, getting ready todrain the river.
Pretty soon because they movedit, it was like, docked, I guess
you could say kind of behind BigThunder.
I don't know exactly how thewaters way go backstage, but
they've moved it further away.
Joni (04:18):
Mm.
NIck (04:19):
So, and I did read
imagineers are, are figuring out
what they want to do with it.
So they have, I wonder
Joni (04:25):
if they, you know what
would be really neat is if they,
had a hotel, If they had anotherresort and or placed it on a
resort property
NIck (04:34):
been, that was a
Joni (04:36):
maybe turn it into, A
quick service with sit down or
something.
You know what I mean?
They turn
NIck (04:40):
into Yeah, they could,
that there was a discussion, I
don't think by Disney, but bysome Disney fans that they
should put it over at, um,Riverside.
The Port Orleans.
Port Orleans
Joni (04:51):
Yeah, that would be neat.
NIck (04:52):
Because that's, uh, you
know, Mississippi River and, you
know.
Yeah.
Joni (04:55):
Yeah.
NIck (04:57):
Yeah.
I never thought they could put aquick surface on there.
That'd be, that'd be a greatidea.
Or a snack or, or bar, anything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Joni (05:04):
have like little,
two-seater, like little round
tables with.
Stools or whatnot placed around, you don't need a lot of'em, but
you can have ice cream or snacksand kind of look over the water.
NIck (05:15):
Yeah.
I went on a, in St.
Louis when I was little.
We went on a McDonald's.
They used to have a McDonald'sriverboat on the Mississippi.
Yeah, it that, yeah, it'd besomething like that.
It'd be pretty cool.
Yeah.
But yeah, the good thing aboutthat is that they're moving.
It is, people are seeing that asa sign that it won't be
demolished.
They're still trying to figureout what to do with it.
Joni (05:35):
that's good.
NIck (05:36):
So,
Joni (05:38):
Yeah, because you just
said, uh, aunt Polly's, you said
permit for demolish.
NIck (05:42):
Yeah, that's going for
sure.
And then the Disney Starlightparade, the soundtrack is now
available on streamingplatforms.
So if you're digging that music, you can stream it all day on
repeat if you want.
I did not see a list of all ofthe streaming services.
I did see Spotify and AppleMusic for sure.
(06:04):
Um, I didn't see any one otherones listed.
So that's it for a MagicKingdom.
This week Hollywood Studios hada pretty big announcement.
This kind of blindsided, Ithink, I don't think anybody
knew about this, that I knew of.
Like everybody was surprisedwhen this was announced.
They're closing the Star Warslaunch Bay on September 26th, or
(06:28):
25th or 26th.
They're gonna be replacing itwith the magic of Disney
animation, which used to be anexperience at MGM Studios or
Hollywood Studios.
I'm sorry.
The magic of Disney animationwas an attraction in animation
courtyard from the parks openingin 1989 to 2015, and then it was
replaced by Star Wars LaunchBay.
(06:49):
The experience will return in2026 as a place where kids in.
Kids at heart can laugh, drawand dream, and explore animated
new experiences.
The cool thing about this is theupdated building they're putting
there is gonna have a MickeySorcerer's hat facade.
Joni (07:05):
Mm-hmm.
NIck (07:05):
gonna look just like the
Roy e Disney building in
Burbank.
So NGM used to have that bigMickey's uh, sorcerer hat in the
middle of the park.
Well, they're bringing thesorcerer hat back.
Joni (07:16):
Okay.
NIck (07:17):
And this is from the
Disney Parks blog.
It says in 2026, the currenthome of Star Wars Launch Bay
will transform into a placewhere kids and kids at heart can
laugh, draw, dream, and exploreanimated new experiences.
Topping the building will beMickey's iconic sorcerer hat,
just like the real building inCalifornia, which will cast a
spell with pixie dust.
(07:38):
Our story in this newlyreimagined space begins as the
animators have temporarilystepped away, but the building
is still buzzing with activity.
As the characters have come tolife and they're ready to play
inside, you'll interact with andexplore silly takes on the
iconic Disney animationheadquarters, including the many
different studio departments, only this time some of our
(07:59):
favorite pals have taken over tocreate the fun adventures.
The playful and interactivemoments will be found around
every corner.
You'll see portraits come tolight before your eyes, and they
did like once upon a studio, you'll find inspiration with a
short film, with a twist ofcourse, and you'll even pencil
in sometimes to learn how todraw your very own character
sketch.
Joni (08:19):
I would love that.
I'm still kind of like, I'mstill kind of trying to absorb
what you just read, like whatall is gonna be happening.
NIck (08:26):
There was more, I
Joni (08:27):
that was a mouthful and an
earful, but, um, I like, I mean,
I'm, I don't wanna say I'm superartistic, but I do like doing
stuff like this.
When we went to Animal Kingdom,I, really liked going to,
NIck (08:40):
the drawing class or the
Joni (08:42):
and doing the drawing
class there.
And, I try to get Nick to do itwith me.
He's not much of a artist.
NIck (08:49):
I I took a power nap in
there.
Joni (08:51):
I didn't at all.
NIck (08:52):
when her and the kids were
drawing, I, I, I found a chair
and I took a 15 minute power
Joni (08:57):
a big chunk of your time
NIck (08:59):
Yeah, it
Joni (08:59):
do that.
I mean, even just the ride thereand then the walk there, and
then the walk back and the rideback.
But, but I mean, if you got timeto burn or need someplace to
just kind of relax and in Nick'scase, take a nap or, yeah.
Being air conditioning.
It is really neat.
But yeah, the whole drawing thatI, I'm gonna like that.
NIck (09:18):
Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty
excited for it.
Like I said, there was much moreon the Disney Parks blog website
about it.
Um, they're gonna be aplayground over there, and they
did say, I believe they're stillgonna keep something with,
Disney Junior over there.
Okay.
Joni (09:31):
Okay.
NIck (09:32):
So, so
Joni (09:32):
so the whole thing's not
going okay.
NIck (09:34):
Yeah, they're gonna
incorporate everything.
But yeah, I'm excited.
I just want, I wanna see like,
Joni (09:38):
I know what you wanna see
NIck (09:39):
sorcerer
Joni (09:40):
You wanna see hat?
NIck (09:42):
Mickey's my guy Mickey
sorcerer.
Mickey is my guy.
Joni (09:44):
gonna buy you a hat
NIck (09:46):
You mind me ears with the,
you know the
Joni (09:48):
Yes, I know what you look
at, you
NIck (09:50):
look at you.
Joni (09:51):
fantasizing.
Okay, so that's, oh, it says,the 25th that's happening.
NIck (09:57):
Uh, launch Bay closes on
September 25th.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they'll start, uh, they'llstart work on that.
Like I said, I think that blindof a lot of people,'cause
there's even like bloggers thatI followed that were like, whoa,
you know, they kept that underwraps.
Yeah.
In our miscellaneous news forthe first time in recent memory,
Disney is offering unlimitedtime special offer for new Walt
(10:19):
Disney World annual passholders.
When you purchase a new pass, you'll receive a Disney gift
card valued up to a hundreddollars, depending on the pass.
So if you buy the in a creditpass, you get a hundred dollars.
The Disney sorcerer pass, youget 75.
Joni (10:36):
Well that one it says it's
for Florida residents and
eligible DVC only.
So that has to be not resale,I'm assuming.
NIck (10:45):
no, no.
DVC resale or not?
Not right.
You
Joni (10:48):
Okay, so if you're
A-D-D-V-C resale purchaser, this
75 card does not
NIck (10:54):
Correct.
Qualify you.
Yep.
And then, the$50, or I'm sorry, you get a$50 gift card with the
Disney Pirate Pass.
That's for Florida residentsonly.
And the$25 with the Pixie DustPass for Florida residents only.
So this deal applies only to newpass purchases and cannot be
combined with renewal discountsor other promotions.
Joni (11:16):
Up.
NIck (11:16):
so like she just said that
the DVC, that was my.
When, when we were going throughDVC, that was my biggest hangup
with the resale was the, theannual pass.
If you buy resale, you don't getthe discount, which I don't
know, that was my biggest perk.
I was like, well, you know,
Joni (11:33):
yeah, but you have to
weigh the, you
NIck (11:34):
Right.
Yeah, no, I know
Joni (11:36):
know monetarily.
Right?
Like what?
We saved a lot of
NIck (11:39):
we saved a
Joni (11:40):
actually going to happen
versus what you want to happen.
Okay, so basically non-fluresidents and non VDVC, straight
pa, straight purchase, I don'teven know what they're called.
What are, what are they called?
Retail and what?
DVC,
NIck (11:59):
Resale and, uh, direct
members.
Direct.
Okay.
Yep.
Joni (12:02):
I said straight purchase.
I didn't know what they'recalled or whatever.
NIck (12:05):
been a long weekend,
Joni (12:06):
So yeah, it has been, so
basically are only eligible for
the a hundred dollars one or amI under what's going on here
with
NIck (12:13):
with my right?
So the a hundred dollars one, that's the most expensive pass
that is for out-of-stateresidents.
Joni (12:20):
Okay.
NIck (12:21):
all out-of-state residents
have to buy the, the most
expensive pass, which I think isaround 15,$1,600.
Okay.
Um, so I guess if you want tolook at it this way, you're
getting a discount becauseyou're getting a hundred dollars
back.
I, I don't know.
And you could look at it thatway.
I mean
Joni (12:39):
I mean, we've, but, and
that's per person, that 1500,
1600 is per person because we'veactually looked into it.
But for the amount of time thatwe are able to get off of our,
you know, nine to fivers and, actually be able to go, it did
not weigh out.
NIck (12:56):
No.
I think
Joni (12:57):
It wasn't smart for us to
do an annual pass.
NIck (13:00):
Nope.
Joni (13:01):
You
NIck (13:01):
I think we would have to,
I think we figured out between
nine and 10 days of park goingand we just, we just won't do
that in a 12 month period.
Joni (13:09):
Yeah.
'cause we like to do somecruising
NIck (13:12):
Yeah.
Joni (13:13):
Yeah.
And we're going to Universal andyou know, and then, you know, we
could do it, but we could, ourjobs don't allow Right.
You know, certain, yeah.
Um.
Overages of PTO and lived
NIck (13:25):
in like Georgia or
something, maybe, you know,
somewhere closer.
But we're, we're in Illinois.
It's, it's a, yeah.
Joni (13:32):
Okay.
That's
NIck (13:34):
I got for the news this
week.
Joni (13:36):
Oh, all right.
NIck (13:37):
So it's that time,
Joni (13:39):
and
NIck (13:40):
the time everybody's
waiting for, what
Joni (13:42):
time is that?
Week five?
Yeah.
NIck (13:44):
Of our growth chart
Poster.
Giveaway.
Joni (13:46):
Yeah.
NIck (13:48):
So I have the list.
I'm ready to go When you are.
Joni (13:51):
I'm spinning.
NIck (13:52):
are you spinning already?
Joni (13:52):
I'm, I'm, I haven't hit it
yet.
Okay, shall I?
Okay, here we go.
NIck (13:56):
spin the wheel.
got the list.
Joni (13:59):
Okay.
She's going
NIck (14:02):
Miranda won last week.
Joni (14:04):
and we have
NIck (14:06):
What do we got?
Joni (14:07):
number five.
Ooh.

NIck (14:15):

Brian,
NIck (14:26):

What is
Joni (14:28):
hit us up.
NIck (14:29):
So, uh, yeah,
congratulations Brian.
You are the winner of week fivegrill chart poster.
Woohoo.
Joni (14:36):
Woo-hoo.
NIck (14:36):
You are still eligible for
the$50 gift card on August 25th.
you're not available for anothergrowth chart, we will be
emailing you, uh, midweek to getyour mailing information so we
can get that out to you.
Yeah.
Congratulations Brian.
Congratulations Brian.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for subscribing.
Yeah,
Joni (14:55):
Yeah, for sure.
NIck (14:56):
All right, so Spotlight on
attraction this week.
We are doing Under the Sea witha Little Mermaid.
Do you wanna start or you wantme to start?
Joni (15:04):
Why don't you go ahead and
start, because you've got most
of the information and then I'lljust add too
NIck (15:09):
Okay, under the Sea
Journey of The Little Mermaid is
a dark ride in fantasy land atMagic Kingdom.
Based on the 1989 animated film, the attraction opened on
December 6th, 2012, as part ofthe new Fantasy Land expansion.
The concept for Little Mermaidride dates back to the early
1990s, but earlier versionsplanned for.
Other parks were canceled.
(15:30):
Interest in the idea Resurfacedafter a Ride Concept was
featured on the 2006 LittleMermaid DVD.
The first version of the Ridedebuted in Disney's California
Adventure in 2011 with a MagicKingdom version following a year
later, using a clamshell shapedvehicle.
That's, that's kind of hard
Joni (15:50):
that's a mouthful.
I looked at.
You
NIck (15:51):
Using a clam shell shaped
vehicle on an omni mover Track
The Ride takes guests throughmajor scenes from the film,
including Ariel's Grotto, theUnder the Sea, the musical
number, Ursula's Layer andAriel's transformation.
The attraction blends, vibrantsets, audio animatronics, and
the film's classic music tocreate an immersive under sea
(16:14):
adventure.
Joni (16:15):
Mm-hmm.
NIck (16:16):
So that, that's what I got
on
Joni (16:17):
Okay.
Well, I have a little to add andI just want to let everybody be
clear that even though it's anunder the sea, you don't
physically get wet.
So no need to wear ponchos or.
NIck (16:29):
no, but
Joni (16:30):
but you should hold your
breath.
You should hold your
NIck (16:31):
You should hold your
breath because if you look at
the shell in front of you, whenuhhuh, you see that you're
starting to go underwater.
'cause the bubbles start showing
Joni (16:38):
That's right.
Showing up.
That's right.
So hold your breath, hold yourbreath,
NIck (16:39):
hold your breath, hold
your breath,
Joni (16:40):
and then breed like a fish
underneath.
So anyway, I've got that.
There's no height requirement.
Um, the seeding capacity is eachclam shell.
Typically seeds two adults.
Cast member may allow a smalltile to join as lap sitting is
allowed.
It is a tier two multipass.
It operates, on an omni moversystem.
(17:01):
So you have to board a movingsidewalk and I don't,
NIck (17:05):
correct.
Joni (17:05):
So as far as,
accessibility, you have to be
able to,'cause this is not whenthey stop, like they do haunted
mansion,
NIck (17:13):
Oh.
I think they'll stop it.
Joni (17:14):
They will stop it.
Okay.
So just double check with a castmember to verify that.
But, um,'cause I don't everremember that one.
Stopping, like, haunted mansionstops
NIck (17:22):
just stops a lot.
Joni (17:23):
stops a lot, um, to let
people on and off.
So it's a seven minute ride,really.
It says seven minutes.
Okay.
And another, interesting featureis that,, Ursula, if I can get
my computer over here, Ursula.
The animatronic in there.
Guess, guess her, measurements
NIck (17:45):
how big she is.
Um hmm.
I'm gonna say eight feet tall.
Joni (17:51):
Okay.
NIck (17:52):
Seven feet wide.
Joni (17:53):
You're close on the,
you're close on the tall.
Okay.
You're way off on the, really onthe wide.
Yeah.
Seven and a half feet tall by 12feet wide.
NIck (18:03):
feet wide.
Whoa.
Joni (18:05):
tentacle to
NIck (18:05):
tentacles.
Joni (18:06):
Tentacle to tentacle.
So, yeah, so that's prettymassive.
NIck (18:10):
It is a big
Joni (18:11):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Seven minutes.
NIck (18:13):
Yeah.
I didn't know that.
Yeah, that is very good.
Joni (18:17):
Yeah.
The Q'S kind of cute too.
It shows as you're goingthrough, it shows like all her
little collectibles that she hasreached or she's collected from
shore, um, that she hides fromher dad.
NIck (18:27):
king Triton,
Joni (18:30):
who's very upset that,
that she's going to shore.
So, yeah, that's what I have toadd to, uh, the Little Mermaid
ride.
NIck (18:36):
Another tidbit that I just
thought of this, it has the
hidden Mickey on Mickey'sbirthday.
Joni (18:42):
Oh
NIck (18:43):
it is under the sea ride.
So on Mickey's birthday everyyear they have it in the queue.
There's like some holes in the,um.
Joni (18:51):
but you had to be standing
at the
NIck (18:52):
have to be the perfect
spot at the perfect time.
On, on Mickey's birthday everyyear, November and 23rd.
I dunno, Joanie's gonna lookthat up.
Um, but if, if, uh, in thequeue, so they have holes in
like the cave of the queue.
And if you're standing in theright spot at the right time, a
hidden Mickey will shine throughthose holes and appear on.
(19:14):
The cave wall, I believe, or theground.
I'm not sure which one.
Joni (19:18):
I'm not sure either.
I, we've not seen it.
We've not been there and had theopportunity, but we have seen,
NIck (19:23):
pictures.
Pictures, yeah.
Joni (19:25):
Um, Mickey's birthday.
November 18th.
NIck (19:27):
Oh, November 18th.
Okay.
So every November 18th, there's,that's the, hidden Mickey.
Joni (19:32):
and the year is actually
1928.
NIck (19:35):
1928.
Steamboat Willie.
Yeah.
Joni (19:37):
November t, November 18th,
we gotta put that on our
calendar.
Yeah.
I got everybody else'sbirthday's on there.
NIck (19:43):
So yeah, that is our
spotlight
Joni (19:45):
Good.
Well, you know, and I suppose ifthey ask if there's a cast
member around or if there'sanother individual or, or
whatnot, or look it up, thenpeople might be able to know
exactly where to stand, becausethat is kind of a cute thing to
NIck (19:57):
the hidden Mickey.
Yeah, it's like a rarity.
Yeah.
I'll, I'll put, um, a picture,I'll put it on the blog, on our
website,
Joni (20:02):
it's almost as if the
imagineers had to be out there
on his birthday at a certaintime.
Yeah.
In order to construct that.
Yeah.
NIck (20:09):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Joni (20:10):
Then if they miss it, they
gotta wait a whole nother year
to get it right.
Like how tedious,
NIck (20:14):
it.
Joni (20:15):
Ugh.
I would have like five differentsets of eyes out there, like
with a video camera to make surethat I got it right.
NIck (20:23):
Yeah, it is.
Um, that's a fun thing that, that they put in that, right.
Yeah.
Joni (20:26):
I love the little hidden
stuff like that.
So
NIck (20:28):
So that's, uh, spotlight
on Attraction.
And we'll go to Joni for ourwho.
We s spotlighting for Princessthis
Joni (20:35):
Oh, let me get to her.
We actually, the other nightwatched, one that's not super
popular.
NIck (20:42):
I had never heard of it, I
don't think.
Joni (20:44):
I'm sure you've heard of
it, the Black Cauldron.
You've never heard of the BlackCauldron?
I dunno.
Okay.
We're talking about the BlackCauldron ladies and gentlemen,
and tonight we are announcing, and I did not know her name.
I've never seen any merchandise.
She's not featured on.
Any kind of thing that I,
NIck (21:05):
had never heard of her.
Joni (21:06):
I didn't even know there
was a princess in this movie.
Princess,
NIck (21:09):
I Lonely.
Joni (21:10):
Eloy.
NIck (21:11):
How did you, how is it,
what's her name?
Ilon.
We Ilon.
Joni (21:14):
Ilon.
We
NIck (21:15):
ilon, we, yeah.
With a w.
Joni (21:17):
it is spelled
E-I-L-O-N-W-Y.
NIck (21:21):
Ilon.
We ilon.
Okay.
Joni (21:23):
So this movie, I mean, it
goes into, there's a, a horned
king.
NIck (21:28):
It's kind of dark
Joni (21:29):
It is.
It is a little bit of a darkmovie.
Yes.
And, so there's a, a horned kingwho wants this black cauldron
because it has magical powersand he wants to rise the unli,
and whatnot for his army.
So anyway, she alone, we hasthis orb.
(21:49):
Or what, for lack of betterterms, that, the Horned King
thought her to be magicalbecause of this, so he kidnapped
her.
It doesn't go on to say anythingabout family members or where
she's from or anything likethat.
She, is 12 years old in themovie.
The Black Cauldron was, first, aired July 24th, 1985.
(22:12):
It is a one hour and 20 minute.
Is directors is Ted Berman andRichard Rich and Producer is Joe
Hale.
It's based on the Chronicles ofPyridine.
Pyridine, P-R-Y-D-A-I-N.
There's five novels and thisprincess appears in four of
(22:33):
them.
And it is actually, um, novelsby Lloyd, Alexander and.
The Horn King.
It doesn't give a, an occupationfor her, but at one part in the
movie, he calls her a scullerymaid.
So that seems to be the trendfor these princesses.
And then it did say up upon thereading nowhere in the movie
(22:55):
that it's, Welsh.
Although the,
NIck (22:59):
the princesses Welsh
Joni (23:00):
the storyline is Welch.
However, I do have to say thatif there's anyone Welsh
listening that it does go on tosay that it doesn't depict exact
traits or personalities ordifferent things like that, or
accurate to the Welshpopulation.
Okay?
So it's just kind of anexaggerated thing.
(23:20):
Ilon means dear and melody.
And we is a suffix, often usedin river names.
So that's how they come up withher name.
I loan we
NIck (23:30):
Oh, okay.
I didn't know where you weregoing with that.
I was fine.
Joni (23:33):
yeah, I know.
Okay.
I
NIck (23:35):
That's how they came up
with her
Joni (23:36):
Yep.
That's how they came up with hername.
And then, um, she's, there'ssome sidekicks in here in the
movie.
Obviously there's the Terran.
Is or Taren Rather, is the boy.
Is the
NIck (23:46):
He's the boy, okay.
Joni (23:47):
He's the boy and he gets
his hands on a magical sword.
He is supposed to be protectinga pig named hen and he comes
across, a little animal lookingfurry guy.
His name is, gie and Feels.
NIck (24:02):
his apple.
That's how they first meet.
Joni (24:04):
Yeah.
So he's a little, he's a littleobnoxious and he's a little
naughty.
And then,, they come across aheart plain, older man who is
also a, asset into helping themdo what they need to be doing to
defeat this horned king.
Her traits are brave,intelligent, strong-willed,
affectionate, emotional,anxious, capable, resourceful,
and magical.
(24:26):
A little bit of more informationis in the land of.
Purine lowly pig herder Tarndreams of becoming a gallian
knight.
He receives his heroic callingwhen the evil horned king
kidnaps hen, because hen issupposed to have prophecies of
where this cauldron can belocated.
(24:46):
This
NIck (24:46):
the pig.
This the pig is huge of thisstory.
Yeah.
The pig like knows or can see,
Joni (24:52):
he can sense.
Yes.
Right.
And so the, they're in hidinginitially and the horned king's
accomplices rather find him,right?
Yeah.
And they kidnap him and thathe's being held by the horned
king, being forced to give theinformation of where this black
cauldron is located.
So Tarn is supposed to beprotecting hen he gets
(25:16):
kidnapped.
And now with the help of hisfurry sidekick Gie and Princess
eOne Tarn must locate themagical black cauldron before
the Horn King is able to use itsmystical powers, despite being a
princess.
She is not part of the officialDisney princess lineup due to
the film's poor box officeperformance and darker tones.
NIck (25:40):
Okay.
Joni (25:40):
So, it is the first Disney
animated film to receive a PG
rating as well as being thefirst animated film to feature
computer generated imagery.
Really?
Yeah.
NIck (25:52):
I didn't know that.
Joni (25:53):
So I wasn't,, gonna go a
whole lot into detail about
this.
But, um, I did read that they, before airing this, they
subjected, you know, they let aseveral or a handful of some
children a test audience, andthere were a lot of, pretty
scared, children.
So they cut.
(26:14):
Some of the scenes out of
NIck (26:15):
they did?
Joni (26:15):
Yeah.
So they did cut some out.
And then the final product isobviously what we are able to
see today.
And I don't know that those arelike locked away or if anybody's
been able to see'em, but I'm,I'm kind of as an adult, like,
what, what are they, what didthey put in there?
Like, I'm kind of curious aboutit.
So, yeah.
So needless to say, because ofits darker tones and whatnot,
she didn't make the hit listfor, you know.
(26:39):
Top princess, or even in thecategories.
So
NIck (26:42):
I've never heard of her.
Yeah.
I had never heard of her.
Me neither.
And yeah, you said you hadneither when we watched it.
Joni (26:47):
Uhuh.
So, but we did watch it theother night.
I'd never seen it.
Nick's never seen it?
Nope.
So there's
NIck (26:54):
The, what's his name, the
Horn King, was that his name?
Joni (26:57):
Yeah.
He
NIck (26:58):
like Maleficent.
He does.
Joni (27:00):
And he has dragons.
NIck (27:01):
And he has dragons.
Yeah.
He's got like Maleficent Dragons
Joni (27:04):
And he has
NIck (27:05):
this
Joni (27:06):
Trollish looking
NIck (27:07):
this little henchman guy.
Yeah.
He's very scared of him.
Yeah.
But you said that was 1985.
It
Joni (27:14):
like Elmo.
Did I say he
NIck (27:16):
yeah.
When we were watching it, you'relike, it sounds like Elmo
Joni (27:18):
Yeah.
It's very odd.
NIck (27:20):
you said 1985,
Joni (27:22):
excuse me.
NIck (27:22):
1985 was the release.
Joni (27:25):
Yes.
July 24th, 1985.
NIck (27:28):
Okay.
So 1985 Disney released this andLittle Mermaid was 1989.
I believe so.
Joni (27:34):
have that
NIck (27:35):
So, I think so Disney went
on a string of hits, I believe,
starting with the Little Mermaidthrough the nineties.
So.
If you think about, they madethis movie in 85 and it was a
bomb.
They obviously learned from it,and then they just put out a
string of hits after that, youknow, through the nineties.
So that, that's interesting.
(27:56):
It, yeah, when we watched it,it, it did not have the, a
Disney cartoon vibe or feel toit at all.
No,
Joni (28:03):
no, it was not
NIck (28:04):
at all.
It's, it's a little different.
Joni (28:06):
Well, they did use the
darker tones, so, and that's
definitely, displayed.
I mean, it's still, I think it'sstill kitty friendly, but it's
definitely not like you're LionKing or,
NIck (28:16):
not Little Mermaid.
Joni (28:17):
all of them have something
that's villain saddened in a
villain.
NIck (28:20):
Okay.
Well, the Black Cauldron
Joni (28:22):
Black Cauldron
NIck (28:24):
who we got up next week,
do we know yet?
Joni (28:25):
We do know.
Do we wanna share?
I don't wanna share.
NIck (28:28):
You don't wanna share?
Okay.
We'll leave it as a surprise.
Well, thank you.
That was a lot of information onthe Black Cauldron.
I had never heard of it, I don'tthink, but I definitely never
seen it.
So it's on Disney Plus though,if you wanna watch it.
Joni (28:38):
you watch it.
Yep.
So
NIck (28:39):
So we're gonna go on to
this week's tipper trick.
This one is, I
Joni (28:44):
I don't even know what
this one is.
NIck (28:45):
Yeah, I kinda left this.
Yeah, I kind of, I'm gonna leavethis as a surprise'cause I like,
I like to get your reaction tosome of these things.
I think about this one involves, resort stays.
Okay.
Disney Deluxe Resorts and someof their, and their moderate
resorts, you know, they can beexpensive.
Let's say that you had, you'vealways wanted to stay at
(29:05):
Disney's Polynesian
Joni (29:07):
okay,
NIck (29:07):
or Animal Kingdom or pick
a deluxe.
Any deluxe you want Grand 40 andwhatever you want.
Joni (29:12):
And,
NIck (29:12):
and it's very, you know,
if you go on vacation, typically
people go to Disney World, Ithink for seven days.
Americans, you know, people inthe United States, well Europe,
you know, they tend to travelfor two weeks or more, but let's
just say seven days.
And obviously that's expensiveto stay at the Polynesian for
seven days.
What you can do is a split stay.
Joni (29:31):
Mm-hmm.
NIck (29:32):
You could stay, let's say
seven days.
We'll keep that seven day basestay.
Four days or five days at anAllstar, and then use those
other two days and move over tothe Polynesian
Joni (29:43):
two days.
Yep.
Oh, we, we do it.
NIck (29:45):
So you get that deluxe
that you've always wanted to
stay at.
Mm-hmm.
And you know, you're only payingtwo nights for it.
And the good thing about that isyou can use your park days while
you're staying an Allstar.
So let's say you go to each parkone day, you go to, you know,
you go to Parks Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday.
And then move over to thePolynesian Thursday, Friday.
You have two full resort daysover
Joni (30:06):
Mm-hmm.
And the, cast members will moveyour luggage for
NIck (30:09):
Bell Services will move
your luggage for absolutely no
charge.
I, I mean, do tip them because,
Joni (30:14):
please tip.
It is,
NIck (30:16):
it's work.
So, but yeah, that's just a wayto, you can stay in a deluxe.
You can say, you know, I'vealways wanted to stay at the
Polynesian.
It's just so expensive, orwhatever resort.
So just, just split it up likethat.
I mean, that way, you know, youget to stay there, but not for
the full week.
Joni (30:34):
Yeah.
Well that's what we're doing.
Yeah.
NIck (30:36):
That's what we did.
Yeah.
Joni (30:38):
We're, well, we've done it
and we're going to
NIck (30:39):
it.
Right.
But we use points, which is, youknow, a little different, but
like cash wise, you know,'causethe Polynesian, I'm using that
as an example'cause that's avery popular place.
People are stay and it's, it'spretty expensive for a night.
So yeah, that's, even if youwanna do a moderate resort, you
know, like Caribbean Beach orPort Orleans Riverside or
whatever,
Joni (30:59):
just think
NIck (30:59):
think about it, you know?
Joni (31:01):
Yeah, I think it's, I
think it's interesting because
then,, I know some people mightview as a hassle, especially if
you got littles or lots ofpeople, but you know, if you're
going solo or if it's just youand your spouse or significant
other, or a best friend or you, there's just a few of you,
whatever.
I like the experience of stayingdifferent places because then
you get to kind of venture out
NIck (31:20):
Mm-hmm.
Joni (31:21):
get to, you know.
NIck (31:22):
They all have
Joni (31:23):
Observe the property.
You get to observe the food.
Taste a little bit of this, taste a little bit.
NIck (31:27):
pools.
Yeah.
The, the splash pads or whateverthey may have at the resort.
And like we said last week, allresorts have their resort
specific activities to do so.
Joni (31:39):
so
NIck (31:39):
yeah.
You know, it's just a thought.
You know, people say, well, Iwould love to stay, you know, at
resort.
Whatever, fill in that blank.
But I just, it's so expensive.
Well consider doing a splitstay.
Yeah.
And you could just do a night ortwo.
Joni (31:51):
Yeah, exactly.
NIck (31:53):
exactly.
So that's my tip on money savingideas to stay at a deluxe
resort.
Just to split it up.
Joni (31:59):
Yeah.
You don't have to stay yourwhole time.
NIck (32:01):
So I think that is going
to do it for this week's show.
