Nick (00:24):
Hello everybody.

your go-to podcast for allthings Walt Disney World
related, all the news, and theupdates.
And the tips, all the tricks.
I am your host Nick, and asalways with me is Joni.
Joni (00:39):
Hi.
Nick (00:41):
are we in the Halloween
mood yet?
Joni (00:43):
Um, we're trying, I have
the candy bowl out since we're
going on vacation, but we stillhave an empty yard.
Nick (00:49):
I have, uh, ventured into
that candy bowl a little
Joni (00:52):
Yeah, I did ask Nick if I
need to remove it.
Nick (00:54):
Nope, absolutely do not
remove the candy bowl.
That's the last thing you needto do.
Joni (00:58):
big bowl.
Nick (01:00):
Today.
Is Friday, October 17th.
So we are what, two weeks?
Two weeks away from Halloween.
Today you
Joni (01:07):
be like, oh my gosh, you
already have your candy bowl
out.
Yes.
Because we're going on vacationnext week.
Yes.
Nick (01:11):
we are going on a cruise
next
Joni (01:13):
I don't want any unhappy
trick or treaters.
Nope.
Nick (01:16):
We gotta be prepared.
So yeah.
And then kind of a bummer aboutthat is we're kind of toning
down the Halloween decorationsthis year'cause we're not gonna
be home to maintain thedecorations.
Yeah.
We're leaving our neighbor forthat job.
Joni (01:28):
Yeah, we're gonna give him
the remote.
Nick (01:30):
But how
Joni (01:30):
old is he?
Almost 80.
Almost 80.
Nick (01:32):
Almost 80.
But he's a
Joni (01:33):
got about 80 blowups in
his yard.
Nick (01:35):
he's got like quadrupled
the amount that we even own
Joni (01:38):
Right.
Actually he gave us one thisyear that we're gonna put out
Nick (01:41):
And I felt bad.
I'm like, I don't know if we'regonna put it up.
He's like, oh, you can just keepit anyways.
Joni (01:45):
We're gonna put it up.
Nick (01:46):
Yeah, we're gonna put it
up.
That's pretty cool.
Joni (01:48):
Anyway.
Yeah.
So what's your Halloweencostume?
Mine?
Yeah.
Nick (01:51):
For the ship,
Joni (01:53):
Just in general.
Well, are you gonna wear it?
Are you gonna wear it at hometoo?
No,
Nick (01:57):
No, because, well, I guess
I could during, well, I could
during trick or treat, couldn'tI?
I'm gonna be grumpy.
Joni (02:03):
Yeah.
Nick (02:03):
And you're snow white.
That's the reason I'm
Joni (02:05):
You're not grumpy.
I am.
You're dopey.
I'm dopey.
See, he's dopey.
Nick (02:09):
It's green.
Is that dopey?
Joni (02:10):
It's dopey
Nick (02:12):
It's green with a purple
hat.
So I guess that's dopey.
Joni (02:15):
Well, it fits you well.
I
Nick (02:16):
Well, I don't know.
I'm just gonna put it on andhand walk around the ship with
my bag out.
Joni (02:20):
Call me what you want.
Yeah.
My costume is Snow White.
Nick (02:24):
Yeah.
So that's, that's gonna be fun.
Hopefully the weather holds up.
There appears to be an area oflow pressure moving into the
Caribbean, but, uh, we'll haveto see how
Joni (02:32):
Yeah.
Nick actually texted me theother day and told me that we
may be in for a little bit ofiffy weather and my response
back was, I'm not going
Nick (02:40):
you are.
Joni (02:42):
because that is the number
one thing I do to plan around
vacations is weather.
Yeah.
And he pulled one over on me.
Nick (02:50):
Shouldn't have told you.
Should have just waited for thewaves to
Joni (02:54):
Oh yeah, that'cause that
would've been much better for
you.
So
Nick (02:58):
you.
So like I said, today is October17th, so all the news is
current.
Until today, before we get intoit, if you like this podcast,

(03:18):
So are we ready to get into thenews?
We are
Joni (03:20):
are.
We are.
Nick (03:21):
Magic Kingdom.
Nearly all the buildings are nowdemolished on Tom Sawyer's
Island.
So they're moving quickly overthere.
I read, it was like Monday, thenone was demolished, and then the
next day they were like almostall gone.
So moving quickly for carsland
Joni (03:39):
shifts going on
Nick (03:40):
Yeah, they're, they're,
they're hustling.
Joni (03:41):
And also
Nick (03:42):
Magic Kingdom.
Another date for Mickey's veryMerry Christmas party has sold
out.
So November 11th now joinsNovember 7th and 10th as sellout
dates.
So if those were your plandates, you might wanna make
alternate arrangements.
So how
Joni (03:57):
are left?
Do we know how many
Nick (03:58):
I don't know.
How many are total?
Those are the only three sold
Joni (04:00):
So are all of the, um,
Halloween parties sold out?
Nick (04:05):
Yes, they're done.
Joni (04:06):
done.
Everything's, oh, can't buy
Nick (04:08):
'em?
No, no.
They're all sold out.
Joni (04:10):
Oh.
Nick (04:11):
and while we're in the
Christmas mood at Magic Kingdom,
the Jingle Cruise is returningfor the 2025 holiday season.
So that'll be back in action.
Joni (04:22):
well now with that being
said, I'm kind of like you just
brought it up.
I mean, there's lots of thingsthat inter tie into other
comments and, and show notes andwhatnot, but we switched our
ride attraction today,
Nick (04:35):
We did.
So now I'm
Joni (04:35):
of like, well, maybe we
should have done that and
tribute to
Nick (04:39):
to the Jingle Cruise,
Joni (04:40):
that's okay.
We'll pick that up another time.
Anyway, proceed, please, sir.
Nick (04:45):
Okay.
That's it for Magic Kingdom.
We're going to Epcot, this one'sgonna might rub you the wrong
way.
Mm-hmm.
Joni (04:51):
Mm-hmm.
Nick (04:52):
Disney has announced that
Remy's OU Adventure will close
for refurbishment next month, and the attraction's going to be
converted to 2D.
Joni (05:01):
what?
Okay,
Nick (05:02):
hold on.
The attraction will close forrefurbishment from November 10th
through the 13th and will returnwith enchanted Digital Visuals
and Clearer Imagery projectedinto D.
They're also adding new propsand lighting enhancements to the
queue and the attraction overthe next few months.
Joni (05:20):
a minute, so is it still
gonna be a track ride where you
like go under the oven and youget,
Nick (05:24):
It's gonna be the same.
It is not gonna be 3D.
Here's my thinking on this.
This ride gives a lot of peoplemotion sickness.
The 3D effect of it does.
That's the only reason I canguess why they're doing this.
Joni (05:38):
lot of rides that give
motion sickness and it's a
warning, right?
Nick (05:42):
But some of that is not,
um, like mission space.
That's just the ride.
That's how it is with Remy.
It can be.
Remedied,
Joni (05:50):
I don't like it until I
try it, but
Nick (05:52):
now I'm not gonna knock it
until I try it.
Joni (05:54):
That's what I just said,
but right now I don't like it.
Nick (05:56):
was my first, my first
impression and then I was like,
wait a minute.
This gives a lot of peoplemotion sickness.
The 3D effect on itself, theyhave not announced that's why
they're doing it.
That's just my thinking.
Could be, I don't know.
But we're gonna find, we'regonna start hearing reviews on
it in the next, um, month.
open?
Joni (06:14):
Back up?
2D
Nick (06:15):
back up November 10th
through the 13th.
It will be down.
Joni (06:18):
Oh.
Nick (06:19):
So keep that note.
If you're gonna be there duringthat time, Remy will be down in
Epcot.
Joni (06:22):
so don't rush to the back.
Um, Skyliner entrance if you're,you can't rope drop Remy.
Nick (06:27):
They've probably already
made the projections behind the
scenes.
They just need to implement itinto the attraction.
Joni (06:33):
downtime.
Nick (06:33):
Yeah.
Three days.
Okay.
So that's kind of big news.
They're also doing it for theone in Disneyland, Paris, I
read.
Okay.
Joni (06:40):
Okay.
Nick (06:41):
And at epca, also a
figment, animatronic on journey
into imagination has beenreplaced.
Reportedly, the regularanimatronic is receiving a
refurbishment, and this is thesecond Figma animatronic you see
in the ride.
So then there's no dates oranything on that.
I don't even
Joni (06:59):
I'm trying to like go
through the ride and I don't
even
Nick (07:01):
I, I'm section Yeah.
I'm not even sure.
I saw a picture of it and I, it
Joni (07:05):
because there's so much to
look at and smell and all that
in there.
Nick (07:09):
So that's it for Epcot.
Your beloved Remy is getting achange.
Joni (07:13):
Oh, EY Ouie.
Okay, well, we'll see in at, tryit out in November
Nick (07:20):
At Hollywood Studios, a
new pressed penny machine has
arrived.
This one I like, it's rightoutside the villain show the
theater and it's the pressedpennies or villains.
Joni (07:30):
I was just gonna say, let
me guess.
That's cool.
Does it have, does it say whichvillains are on there?
Because they, there's five permachine
Nick (07:37):
usually.
Yeah.
I saw some pictures.
I didn't really take note of it.
Um, but yeah, they're, I thinkall the villains in the show.
Yeah.
Joni (07:43):
and
Nick (07:44):
I do remember seeing
Jofar, but I'd totally be
interested in that.
I, I would spend all the money
Joni (07:49):
yeah.
Well, you know, back in the dayyou used to be able to do a
penny for a penny, you know, a
Nick (07:54):
Yeah.
Not so much.
Joni (07:55):
Yeah.
And now it's like a dollar
Nick (07:56):
a penny cost you a dollar.
Last, well, last time we boughtone, it was a dollar.
Who knows?
They might've went up.
Joni (08:00):
Cost of inflation has
skyrocketed.
Nick (08:03):
what, that's a thousand
percent increase
Joni (08:05):
way to go.
Nick (08:06):
Profit.
Joni (08:08):
Why can't you keep your
3D?
Remy can't afford it.
Nick (08:12):
And at Hollywood and Vine,
they have ended their Disney
Junior character breakfast,expanding mini's, seasonal
dining to be an all dayoffering.
So the character.
Breakfast did include Vina, doc,McStuffins, fancy Nancy, and
Goofy.
Saturday, October 11th was thelast day it was offered The
(08:32):
Halloween Dine featuring manyand friends in Halloween outfits
is currently available throughNovember 5th.
The holiday dine is then offeredthrough January 4th, followed by
the Silver Screen Dine, springtime, dine, and Summertime
Dine.
So,
Joni (08:45):
Huh?
And
Nick (08:46):
You know, you remember,
the sci-fi diner we went to?
Of course.
Uh, sci-fi.
Remember that car out front?
Yeah.
That disappeared for a while,but it's back.
I think it disappeared inSeptember, like second, third.
Yeah.
New paint job.
And it's been cleaned,
Joni (09:00):
Okay.
So
Nick (09:01):
they didn't announce that
Joni (09:02):
or totally new paint job?
Nick (09:03):
Um, it didn't, it looked
blue, bluish, green and white.
Joni (09:06):
that that's what it was,
though.
So
Nick (09:08):
The article I read
actually said it appears exactly
the same.
Just appears fresh paint andcleaned.
Joni (09:12):
it up.
Yep.
Good.
Nick (09:14):
So that they didn't
announce, they just, it was
there and it was gone.
Joni (09:18):
Hmm.
Nick (09:18):
And the animal kingdom, so
we know Zootopia better together
opens November 7th,
Joni (09:23):
Uhhuh.
Nick (09:24):
Disney has added it to the
Lightning Lane service.
Oh.
So it will be available forLightning Lane when it opens on
November 7th.
Zootopia.
Yeah.
Joni (09:33):
Yep.
Nick (09:33):
So, yeah, and I saw a
picture they did.
The sign is up.
It's covered,
Joni (09:38):
Yeah.
You
Nick (09:39):
you can kind of see
through it now because they had
it completely covered.
Now you can kind of see it.
You can see it says at the TopTree Life Theater and on the
very left you can definitely seea Z, the letter Z.
Joni (09:49):
Oh, well I,
Nick (09:50):
that's really all you can
make out.
Joni (09:52):
Zootopia, but yeah.
Yeah.
Cool.
Nick (09:55):
That's it for Park News.
Okay.
Miscellaneous, Disney World hasexpanded the number of locations
that are cashless around theparks, and these are, we talked
about this last week, a weekbefore the cashless, snack
stands.
Yeah, there's more so.
These are just your stands, youknow, that sell like sodas and
ice cream and stuff like that.
The boots, you know, the cartsand stuff.
(10:17):
So keep that in mind.
If you're gonna, you know, wanting to buy some ice
Joni (10:20):
just still shocked that
there was even cash allowed.
Like cash is almost,
Nick (10:25):
Yeah, and
Joni (10:26):
Invisible.
I mean it's,
Nick (10:28):
you know, what
Joni (10:28):
I wouldn't wanna be a cast
member being responsible for
Nick (10:31):
for cash,
Joni (10:32):
carrying all that around.
Yeah.
Nick (10:34):
but you know what I've
always said when people say is
Disney cashless, I mean,Disney's gonna take your money
no matter what form you have itin
Joni (10:41):
you wanna give it to
Nick (10:42):
whatever form you have it
in.
If you got a gold bar,
Joni (10:44):
you got pesos, you got
whatever, you got Canadian
money, they might charge you alittle more, you know, because
apples to oranges, but.
Nick (10:53):
And Josh dama has
announced a leadership change.
He, of course, is ahead of the,Disney Parks.
I don't know how to say thisman's last name.
Michael Morty is named CFO ofDisney.
CFO.
Excuse me,
Joni (11:08):
you said CFOI
Nick (11:09):
CFOI said CFO.
Okay.
Of Disney experiences when KevinLansbury retires in February of
2026.
So new leadership change.
And that's interesting becauseif what they're saying turns out
to be true, if Josh Demaro doesbecome head the CEO of the whole
Disney company, then this manwould probably step up.
(11:31):
Mm-hmm.
Joni (11:32):
Mm-hmm.
Nick (11:32):
So that makes things
interesting.
And these two are the, um,brains of the parks, the bosses
of the parks.
So that's it.
That's all I have for
Joni (11:42):
So he's the one in charge
of doing Remy.
The, he's doing Remy dirty.
Nick (11:45):
Well, he's, he's the head
of the parks, I think.
Yeah, each park is, I'm surethere's,
Joni (11:51):
oh yeah.
Nick (11:51):
10 steps between him and
the person that made that
decision.
Of course.
But,
Joni (11:56):
but he's got a sign.
Nick (11:58):
Yeah,
Joni (11:58):
He's got sign for changes.
Nick (12:00):
I signing?
So yeah, that's, that's it forPark News.
Joni (12:03):
That wasn't a whole lot.
Nick (12:04):
No, um, I mean
Joni (12:05):
mean quite a few, quite a
few things, but not anything
Nick (12:08):
Nothing.
Remy.
That was the big thing.
Yeah.
Cool.
Okay, so let's go on to ourspotlight on attraction, Joanie.
Okay,
Joni (12:18):
well we're gonna chat
with, uh, pirates of the
Caribbean today it is a darkindoor water ride.
You set sail in a weatheredbarge for a swashbuckling voyage
to the 17th century wherepirates and Priers ruled the
seas and ransacked Caribbeanseaport towns.
Your boat will drop down a shortwaterfall into dark, mysterious
(12:41):
caverns, but yee beware mighty.
You're supposed to say it.
Nick (12:47):
Ye Oh, I had no prep on
this.
I had absolutely no prep onthis.
Joni (12:54):
in your piratey voice ar
dead men tale no tales.
Um, there's no heightrequirement, but children under
seven must be accompanied bysomeone 14 years or older.
I was amazed when I found this.
It says there are 50 boats.
Nick (13:13):
Yeah,
Joni (13:14):
I,
Nick (13:15):
where did we just see that
the other day?
Yeah,
Joni (13:16):
I researched it and then
we watched a little
Nick (13:20):
Behind the attraction.
We
Joni (13:21):
watched behind the
attraction, and it was verified.
50 boats.
50 boats.
Nick (13:26):
Whew.
That ride doesn't seem that bigto hold 50
Joni (13:29):
and the line is always
long.
Nick (13:31):
Yeah.
But they can move a lot ofpeople
Joni (13:33):
boats, two to five people
per boat, which is 24.
You can get 24 people per boat.
So 24 people.
Nick (13:42):
by,
Joni (13:43):
you know what?
I think it said,
Nick (13:45):
I'm gonna, I'm gonna do
some math.
Joni (13:46):
You do some math.
Nick (13:47):
you do that?
Joni (13:48):
So, um, the seating in the
boat is subjective.
Nick (13:53):
Well,
Joni (13:53):
because there's things
going on both sides.
There's, you know, there's notbig splashes where you're gonna
get wet or anything like that.
Personally, I don't think thatany seat is better than another.
Nick (14:02):
No.
There there's that one drop.
You might get a little wet, but
Joni (14:07):
Well, there's only one
Nick (14:08):
Yeah.
And it's,
Joni (14:09):
in Disney World anyway.
There's only one drop.
Other parks have two drops.
But I don't think there's a badseat on the boat.
Nick (14:15):
No, I don't either.
I don't either.
So,
Joni (14:17):
um, it is a tier two
Multipass electric vehicles must
transfer to a wheelchair for thequeue.
And then from the wheelchair tothe ride vehicle, there's audio
description and handheldcaptioning devices available.
And there is a ride photo.
So this is gonna be located justbefore the first drop.
(14:38):
Well, it says first drop.
There's only one drop, like Isaid, in Disney World, but
before the first drop, afteryou, encounter the talking,
skull and crossbones.
Yep.
So the camera is on the left.
Yep.
It's going to be so smile whenyou embark right As your boat
gets ready to tip and go in thedownward drop.
(14:58):
Yeah.
You're gonna get your phototaken on the left side
Nick (15:01):
and just pay attention to
the boat in front of you.
'cause you'll see the lightflash.
You'll see the light flash soyou'll know, about when the
photo's coming up.
Joni (15:09):
and then here's another
thing too.
The durations are differentdepending on what park you're
at, which I thought was kind ofodd as well.
Yeah.
So Walt Disney World's Ride iseight and a half minutes.
Disneyland in, California 15 anda half minutes.
Mm-hmm.
Tokyo's nine and a half, andParis is 10 and a half.
Nick (15:29):
Disneyland's definitely, I
mean, not even close.
Joni (15:32):
Yeah.
Well that was the very firstone,
Nick (15:33):
one.
Right.
But it's like, not even close.
Yeah.
Joni (15:36):
it's double.
It's basically double what WaltDisney World has.
So it opened in, um, Walt DisneyWorld December 15th, 1973, amid
a golden Spanish fort called theCastillo del Marrow.
There are two cues designed toevoke a different atmosphere.
One is the soldier side, whichis the left, which.
People may know it as theregular cue.
(15:57):
Mm-hmm.
Um, and the other is the pirateside, the right side, which is
now known as the lightning
Nick (16:03):
lightning lane.
Joni (16:04):
So the regular cue winds
through the fort passing
supplies and cannons, and a pairof pirate skeletons sitting at a
chessboard.
The chess plane skeleton gag wasspecifically designed for the
Magic Kingdom.
By Imagineer Mark Davis.
He's got his hand in a lot ofdifferent things.
Who was tasked with designingthe ride throughout the ride?
Keep an eye out for Captain JackSparrow.
(16:26):
You can also download the playDisney Parks app to earn digital
achievements and experiencingactions, or, I'm sorry,
attractions and entertainment.
Another related activity thatthey have for this ride is a,
walking kind of.
Treasure hunt.
So you can go to the Pirate'sAdventure, the treasure of the
(16:47):
Seven Cs, which is aninteractive game that uses
magical talisman to findtreasure.
So it leads you on different, bydifferent clues, and you
actually get to the one andit'll congratulate you that you
have found the treasure.
There's several different cluesyou've gotta go through.
Nick (17:01):
And that building is the
building that's like halfway
between pirates and Tiana's.
Right.
Okay.
Right.
Joni (17:07):
And then there's different
maps you can choose.
Nick (17:10):
I've never done it, so I
like
Joni (17:11):
black beards in there.
And then there's otherdifferent, I mean, when I did
it, I got the Blackbeard one.
So there's 119, audioanimatronics.
It was originally thought thatthe Caribbean themed ride would
not hold the same mystique inFlorida as it did in California.
Therefore, instead of thepirates.
(17:31):
They were going to put in theWestern River expedition with
Big Thunder Mountain.
it did not, and they weresupposed to have that one along
with other rides, so it wasgonna be kind of a little mini
parking park area.
Right.
But it did not go over well withthe Walt Disney fans and guests
because they'd show up wantingto ride.
Nick (17:53):
Where's Pirates?
Where's pirate?
Joni (17:54):
Where's pirates?
And there's no
Nick (17:55):
pirates.
There's no pirates.
So
Joni (17:58):
what Disney did they, they
xna the, Western River
Expedition and they put in, theyput in our pirates for us.
So,
Nick (18:07):
miscalculation on their
part.
Yes.
Joni (18:09):
So that's what I have on
that.
What did you find out about the
Nick (18:13):
1200?
1200?
Joni (18:14):
1200?
Nick (18:15):
Yep.
So what does that mean, 1200 perhour or is it just It'd be,
well, 50 boats.
Yeah, that's 1200, I don't know.
1200 people can fit on 50 boatsis basically what I'm getting
at.
Joni (18:26):
Well, and the ride is
eight and a half minutes, so
Nick (18:29):
yeah, I don't know.
That's too mathy for
Joni (18:31):
but, but you know what?
I don't know that they'rerunning all the boats.
I mean, maybe they have 50,
Nick (18:38):
I don't know.
Joni (18:39):
50 boats.
A lot of boats.
Yeah.
Nick (18:41):
What what's interesting
is, um, we were watching the
Behind the Attraction, and ifyou haven't seen that on Disney
Plus, I, you should check itout.
It's pretty interesting.
But the one they built inShanghai, I believe, they didn't
want to use, the boats floating.
I mean, the boats float, but.
They didn't want to have theboats moving just by the flow of
the water.
Joni (18:58):
Well, because they used a
different perspective as
Nick (19:00):
used, they used different
technology.
Right.
So they needed, in
Joni (19:04):
position at all times.
The
Nick (19:06):
had to be in specific
spots.
Yes.
In order to see the visuals.
So anyways, they put magnetsunder the water, so that drive
the boats, and they got ready toopen the attraction.
They did the soft opening andall the water was rushing from
the beginning of the ride andoverflowing at the end.
Yep.
They said, well, we didn't thinkabout it, but the magnets were
acting as a pump.
Joni (19:27):
well.
Yeah.
And I mean, you got all theseboats going in the same
direction.
It's kind of like an oar.
I mean, you think you put an oarin the water and you move it and
it's gonna,
Nick (19:35):
so what they did to short
term fix it was they ran pipes
from the end, end of the ride tothe beginning and that's
Joni (19:40):
recirculate the water.
Nick (19:42):
And they kept it.
Joni (19:42):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why
Nick (19:43):
their, they were short
term bandaid and it worked.
So they
Joni (19:46):
And you know their ride if
anyone's ever been to it or has
it.
I really wanna go just watchinga video on that.
It's, it's got the incorporationof Disneyland and Walt Disney
World and then their own littlelike kind
Nick (20:00):
of yeah.
Underwater.
Joni (20:01):
cool.
Yeah.
It's an underwater expeditionkind of thing.
It's so neat, so,
Nick (20:06):
ever been there, let us
know.
That sounds, that looks really
Joni (20:08):
Mm-hmm.
So, but yeah, that's what I goton
Nick (20:11):
that's pirates.
Thanks,
Joni (20:13):
Pirates.
Thanks Joan.
Mm-hmm.
You bet.
Oh, and, and, uh, we do havethe, let's just talk a minute
about the candle, the PiratePirates of the Caribbean candle.
We
Nick (20:21):
oh, it's,
Joni (20:22):
kind of a knockoff
Nick (20:23):
called pirates.
It's called pirates.
Yeah.
It smells really
Joni (20:26):
Yeah, it smells like the
ride guys.
It
Nick (20:28):
like the ride and like,
you know, but
Joni (20:31):
little bit of Disney home
with ya,
Nick (20:33):
Take the theme park senses
home with you.
Joni (20:36):
It's great.
Nick (20:36):
it does smell good.
Joni (20:38):
so, okay, cool.
Nick (20:39):
cool.
Onto our movie of the week.
Joni (20:41):
Okay.
Nick (20:42):
We kinda mentioned what we
were doing.
Joni (20:46):
Well, today we're gonna
talk about frozen.
So we have two princesses inhere.
Um, so it's gonna be a littlebit longer just, covering both
of these girls.
Frozen, first appearance wasNovember 27th, 2013 was their
public release.
One hour, 42 minutes.
The budget was 150 million.
Box office pulled 1.28 million.
(21:09):
I'm sorry, 1.28 billion.
Nick (21:12):
with
Joni (21:12):
110.6 million worldwide on
their opening weekend, which is
an insane amount of money.
The directors are Jennifer Leeand Chris Buck, and the story is
adapted from the Snow Queen, which consists of various
illustrated editions of HansChristian Anderson's 1844 Fairy
(21:35):
Tale.
Nick (21:35):
fairytale.
Joni (21:37):
So Anna is 18.
She's described as independent, daring, and clumsy.
Elsa is 21.
She's described as mysterious, elegant, and family oriented.
Their nationality, theirNorwegian as the Kingdom of
Aaronel is a fictionalScandinavian kingdom inspired by
Norway, and it has heavy drawson Norwegian culture, folklore,
(22:02):
and geography.
Occupations.
Elsa is a princess who becomesqueen after her parents were
shipwrecked and Anna, heryounger sister, is a princess.
So the storyline Disney's Frozenfrom 2013 is an animated musical
fantasy film that follows thestory of two sisters in the
(22:23):
Kingdom of Erindale, Elsa.
The elder has magical powersthat allow her to control ice
and snow, but she hides them outof fear.
After accidentally revealing herabilities, she isolates herself
in an ice palace, plunging thekingdom into eternal winter.
Her younger sister, Ana, setsoff on a journey to find Elsa
(22:45):
and bring her back along theway.
She is joined by Christophe, hisreindeer Finn, and a talking
snowman named Olaf.
Through love, courage, andself-discovery, the sisters
learn that true love, not fearis the key to controlling Elsa's
power.
The film highlights themes offamily acceptance and
self-empowerment, and as statedsidekicks are Olaf, which is the
(23:09):
talking snowman, Christophe, andhis.
Friendly Reindeers Finn, theGirls's father is, uh, king
Agnar and their mother QueenAduna.
Now it says that in frozen, thefirst release 2013, Anna and
Christophe meet so littlespoiler on frozen two.
(23:32):
They.
Don't get married in the show, but at the end of the show he's
proposing.
So
Nick (23:36):
I have never seen Frozen
two.
Have you seen Frozen two?
No, I have not, I have notwatched it,
Joni (23:40):
no.
And then, it says Elsa has nospouse but fan created content,
pairs her with Jack Frost, whichwhom they say have a daughter
together.
Nick (23:53):
like Jack Frost.
Like the
Joni (23:54):
Frost.
Mm-hmm.
Nick (23:55):
Like the Jack Frost, we
all know.
Joni (23:56):
Yep.
Yep.
So they said they, they have, two daughters in this fan
created content, and, the first, the eldest is Elysium and she is
in.
Nick (24:07):
The descendants.
Joni (24:08):
descendants, and she's the
oldest of two girls birthed to
Elsa and Jack.
Not anything Disney has anythingto do with, follow up movies.
Were Frozen Fever 2015 Olaf'sFrozen Adventure 2017, frozen
two 2019, and dah, dah dah dah.
If you don't know, frozen threeis said to come out.
(24:31):
DD 23 News.
Nick (24:32):
news.
Yeah.
I think they announced it thisyear or last year.
Joni (24:35):
frozen three expected to
come out in 2027.
So, another big for them.
Yeah.
Nick (24:41):
huge.
Joni (24:42):
Well, yeah, it had 1.28
billion.
Yeah.
With a budget of 150 million.
Nick (24:48):
That's crazy.
Joni (24:49):
Absolutely insane.
Bonus information.
We're just talking about themonies, the highest grossing
film until the remake of theLion King.
In August two thou thousand 19,it finished its theatrical run
as the highest grossing film of2013 and the fifth highest
grossing film of all time.
The film remained in the top 10at the box office for 16
(25:12):
consecutive weekends Frozenopened to positive reviews.
Nick (25:17):
and
Joni (25:18):
critics compared it
favorably to Disney Renaissance
films such as The Little MermaidBeauty and the Beast, Aladdin
and The Lion King, with somejournalists stating the film's.
Success Herald, a secondRenaissance.
It was praised for visuals, themes, musical numbers,
screenplay, and some vocalperformances and some of those
(25:39):
awards that were um, won.
I'm not gonna go intonominations'cause there's just
so many.
But, um, won Academy Awards forbest animated feature and best
original song, which was theinfamous Let It Go.
There you go.
Actually not infamous, thefamous, I always wanna use that
word incorrectly, and it justcomes out that way.
(25:59):
A Golden Globe Award win for thebest animated feature film and
A-B-A-F-T-A award for bestanimated film, as well as two
Grammys.
Nick (26:10):
two Grammys.
Joni (26:11):
Huge money.
Nick (26:12):
Hmm.
Joni (26:13):
Huge money, huge awards.
And the little girls justabsolutely went head over heels
with this show.
Nick (26:19):
yeah.
And I got a joke.
Oh,
Joni (26:21):
Oh, you do?
Oh boy.
Nick (26:23):
Our grandson gave us this
joke.
Remember randomly in the car onetime?
Why don't you ever give Elsa aballoon?
Joni (26:30):
Oh, why?
Nick (26:31):
Because she'll let it go.
Oh.
Joni (26:32):
Oh my goodness.
Nick (26:35):
Do you remember him when
he told us that
Joni (26:37):
You gotta know that every
time we have the grandkids, we
buy them joke books every yearfor their
Nick (26:42):
I dad joke'em to death.
Joni (26:43):
that are, that are, uh,
appropriate to their age.
The, the joke books have theirage on the covers and we are
constantly, do you know any newjokes?
Do you know any new jo?
Like it's, it's kind of,
Nick (26:55):
once in a
Joni (26:56):
It's almost harassing
Nick (26:57):
Yeah.
Once in a while.
The oldest one has one.
Yeah.
And that, that's who told usthat one was.
Joni (27:02):
It is cute.
So anyway.
Yeah, grandpa's known for hisdad jokes.
Yeah.
So anyway.
Yeah, that was kind of cute.
'cause How old was he at thetime?
Nick (27:10):
wow.
That was a couple years ago, Ithink.
Yeah.
Seven, eight.
Yeah.
He just caught me by surprise.
Yeah, I got a joke.
Joni (27:17):
That's funny.
Okay, well that's what I have.
Nick (27:20):
right.
Thanks Joanie.
Joni (27:20):
You bet.
Nick (27:21):
bet.
Frozen huge hit for Disney.
Joni (27:24):
1.28 million.
Nick (27:25):
crazy.
Billion,
Joni (27:27):
Or billion.
I keep wanting to say million'cause I just, none of these
have been in the, in thebillions.
But yeah.
So 110.6 million on the openingweekend worldwide.
Nick (27:37):
And I,
Joni (27:38):
and actually I was reading
the, this made more money
outside of the United Statesthan it did within the United
Nick (27:44):
This wasn't even supposed
to be their big, I read this
sometime.
It wasn't even supposed to betheir big movie.
This, it just kind of, and then, you know, it just took everybody
by surprise.
It is a good
Joni (27:55):
So, so let me tell you,
just looking back, they, the
budget for Rapunzel was 260million.
The the budget for brave was 185million.
They only spent 150 million onthis, and it exploded,
completely exploded.
Nick (28:17):
So
Joni (28:17):
Anyway, kudos.
Way to go.
Nick (28:20):
Okay.
I think we can, we can move onand let it go.
Joni (28:24):
Okay.
Nick (28:25):
Are you ready for the tip
or trick this week?
I am.
Joni (28:27):
am.,
Nick (28:29):
They love me.
Joni (28:31):
I am ready for the tip or
trick this week.
Nick (28:33):
or trick this week.
This week's tip or trick is yougotta find the free things to do
at Disney.
We always say it you wanna knowhow to get a free souvenir at
Disney?
Joni (28:41):
I do.
I do,
Nick (28:42):
You can, you can go
Joni (28:44):
Free is Best.
Free.
Is
Nick (28:44):
Free is Best.
There's not a lot free inDisney.
You can go to any gift shop ifyou're there celebrating a
birthday anniversary, whateveryou're celebrating, um, whatever
it is, your cat's birthday,whatever.
You can go into any gift shop, most gift shops, and get a free
celebration pin.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
And you,
Joni (29:03):
you can also do that at
your resort desk.
Nick (29:05):
can do that at Resort Desk
and the cast members there will
write on it for you in specialwriting, whatever their
specialty is.
Last time we were there, we werecelebrating our anniversary.
So we got anniversary pins, andif you're really lucky, you wear
your pin around the parks allday, you might get pixie dusted
with some cast members.
So like if they see you'rewearing a birthday pin, don't
(29:26):
expect it, but you know, it justmay happen.
Joni (29:28):
you can just go to Sir
Makeys and get pixie, dusty.
That's what I did.
Nick (29:32):
But you can, let's say
you're eating at a quick service
and the cast member sees, oh,hey, it's your birthday.
Here's a cupcake or something.
You know, something like, here'sa Mickey bar.
You know, nothing big but.
Anything's good.
Anything that's right.
Free in Disney is good.
That's right.
So, yeah.
Um, and they do have specific, anniversary buttons specific.
Joni (29:50):
they have anniversary,
they have first time,
Nick (29:52):
first time visits.
Or, or they can just have onethat says like, celebrate or
something.
Yeah.
you can put whatever
Joni (29:57):
just write anything on it.
They, yeah, exactly.
Nick (30:00):
So go to any gift shop and
tell'em you want a celebration
button and they'll hook you up.
Yep.
Joni (30:05):
Yep.
Nick (30:06):
Free souvenir.
Joni (30:07):
