Nick (00:07):
Hello everybody.
Welcome to this week's episodeof the Main Street Talk podcast,
your go-to podcast foreverything Disney World related,
all the tips, all the news, theupdates, the closures, the
construction.
I'm your host Nick, and asalways with me is Joanie.
Hi.
Today is July 18th.
We are recording.
So everything is current up toJuly 18th, and yesterday was a

(00:31):
pretty big day in the world ofDisney.

Joni (00:34):
oh,

Nick (00:35):
Did you know this Well,

Joni (00:35):
well I knew a few minutes ago

Nick (00:38):
yesterday.
Disneyland turned 70 years old.

Joni (00:41):
Mm-hmm.
That is,

Nick (00:43):
is crazy.
Yeah.
To think that, that a theme parkis 70 years old.
But not so crazy.
If you think about, how WaltDisney, you know, we all know
the story.
He went to the park with his twolittle kids, the two little
girls, and he was sitting on apark bench eating peanuts, I
think he said.
And he thought to himself itwould be great if there was an
amusement park where familiescould go and spend time

(01:05):
together.
So he made that, uh, dream areality.
Yeah.
And Disneyland became obviouslywhat it is.
And out of that, we got WaltDisney World.
So,

Joni (01:16):
other Disneys

Nick (01:17):
Disney in, yeah.
All the, the, the worldwideDisney Park.
So all started from Disneyland70 years ago yesterday.
Yeah.
That's, to me, that's just crazyto think about because he was so
ahead of his

Joni (01:29):
probably wasn't even a forethought to have ships
either.

Nick (01:32):
What do you mean cruises?
Oh yeah.
Not

Joni (01:34):
Not even a forethought for him.

Nick (01:36):
Oh yeah.
But he was way ahead of his timewith thinking.
He was always wondering whythings couldn't be done.
And pushed the button to where,as far as technology would let
him go, and he pushed his peoplefor that.
So, so happy birthday,Disneyland.
Happy birthday.
And with that, we're gonna getinto the news for Walt Disney

(01:57):
World in the Magic Kingdom,

Joni (02:01):
Rivers

Nick (02:01):
of America.
So the water level is loweringfor the big drainage, so they're
getting ready.
To drain that river.
And like Walt said, Disneyland'snever done.
We gotta move forward, right?
So

Joni (02:17):
we're

Nick (02:18):
ready to drain the river for, for cars land, that's gonna
be over there.
And another thing that hashappened over in that area by
big Thunder Mountain Railroad isthe Walt Disney World Railroad
has started to be removed.

Joni (02:29):
Yeah.
I saw an aerial view of that,

Nick (02:32):
yeah, pretty.
Yeah.
So

Joni (02:34):
surreal.

Nick (02:35):
Pretty surreal, but the railroad is, is still running
back and forth between, MainStreet and, storybook Circus.

Joni (02:42):
So the railroad's still running through Main Street to
Storybook

Nick (02:44):
Circus?
Yep.
Back and forth, back and forthall day.
So it's acting as a, a shuttleservice.
But the refurbishment, speakingof the railroad at the Main
Street station is approachingcompletion.
Yeah.

Joni (02:56):
Yeah.
I guess a big portion of, it'snot even accessible.

Nick (03:01):
Yeah.
They had, I don't know what theycall'em, not walls, but
partitions or whatever, I don'tknow.

Joni (03:05):
Yeah.
Divides.

Nick (03:06):
Yeah.
But, according to some blogs Iread, that is nearing
completion.
So, um,

Joni (03:11):
very soon.

Nick (03:12):
very soon.
Very soon, yes.
Going into the holiday partiesmickey's not so scary.
Halloween party has sold out forAugust 19th, so that makes it,
the second sellout night.
Of course, the first night thissold out as usual was Halloween
night.
Mm-hmm.

Joni (03:27):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (03:28):
And that sold out the day that, uh, tickets went on sale.
The

Joni (03:32):
the sale date.
Yeah.
for sure.

Nick (03:34):
So if you're going to Mickey's not so scary.
Or if you're planning to, Iwould buy the tickets sooner
rather than later.
'Cause you just, you, you don'twant to get, if you want go, you
don't wanna get locked out.
Right.
You know?
For sure.

Joni (03:48):
Well, and I, we didn't care when we went.
We just wanted to go.
We went in August.

Nick (03:51):
went in August.
Yeah, we went in August.
Not, you know, that surprises methat it's this random August
19th sold out.
Why August 19th?
You would to, in my mind, youwould think the week of
Halloween would sell out first.
You know?
'cause people wanna be there forHalloween,

Joni (04:04):
maybe for school.

Nick (04:06):
That's true.
Oh yeah, that is

Joni (04:07):
So that's the only I mean it's gonna be hotter than

Nick (04:11):
be hot,

Joni (04:12):
you know, than the sun out there.

Nick (04:14):
But yeah, so you know, like I said, get those tickets
if you're wanting to go.
And that goes for the Christmasparty as well.
I don't think we're in anydanger of them selling out
anytime real soon, but

Joni (04:25):
as it approaches it's gonna be more.

Nick (04:26):
Yeah.
'cause they went on sale lastweek.
Yeah.
So get those tickets andHollywood Knights.

Joni (04:32):
Great

Nick (04:32):
breaking news right before we came on the air today.
This, this they announced todayis again July 18th.
They are doing a soft opening ofthe Starlight Parade tonight.
I know this is coming up onMonday and this will be old
news, but that's pretty excitingfor anybody that's there.

Joni (04:50):
for Yeah,

Nick (04:51):
wasn't supposed to happen until what Sunday.
Yeah.
Sunday.
So

Joni (04:55):
an extra bonus for those of you that are getting to see
it.
um.

Nick (04:58):
they, they, like I said, they just announced it.
I think it came across my phoneand I have, a lot of Disney news
coming through my phone that's,you know, pretty close when they
announced, I think it camethrough about six o'clock
central time.
So Yeah.
And

Joni (05:10):
And we are, we are at, just after eight.
central time,

Nick (05:13):
So huge news.
That's gotta be exciting foranybody there.
The buzz, a buzz around thatpark is probably just like
crazy.

Joni (05:19):
yeah, for sure.
Isn't that Neat though, how theycan just do the spontaneous
stuff like that?
Yeah,

Nick (05:26):
for sure.
Just surprises.
Yeah.
Quite a treat for anybody in thepark.

Joni (05:29):
I love surprises, but I love surprises when I don't
know, there's a.
surprise.
Like it has to genuinely be asurprise.
'cause if somebody's Like oh, Ihave a surprise for you.
Then I'm like, well, what?
What, what?
But if you just don't tell meand just it's an actual
surprise, then I'm totally finewith you.

Nick (05:44):
with it.
I got a surprise for you.
There's something, there'ssomething going on this show
today.

Joni (05:48):
Are you gonna tell me?

Nick (05:49):
I'm gonna tell you along with everybody else, but there
is something going on on thisshow today that I did help hold
back from you.

Joni (05:54):
Yeah, I figured.

Nick (05:57):
I think it's exciting.
Okay.

Joni (05:59):
Well at least I'm gonna hear about it today and I don't
gotta wait and wait and wait.

Nick (06:02):
Yep.
Oh, you're gonna hear about it.
Definitely within the next halfhour.
Okay,

Joni (06:05):
Okay.

Nick (06:06):
so do you wanna know the surprise?

Joni (06:07):
I do.

Nick (06:08):
do.
Okay.
So on one of the Facebook pages,I am on a, transportation cast
member had commented something.
So I messaged her, I'm not gonnasay her name, but I messaged her
and I said, Hey, would you beinterested in being a guest on a
Disney podcast?
Mm-hmm.
And she said, she's not in thepodcast thing, which I totally
understand.
But she said, I'll tell youwhat, if you, I won't answer any

(06:30):
questions that you have.
And I said, okay.
I said, well, how about this?
I will tell our listeners, we'llnarrow it down to five
questions.
Okay.
You know,'cause you know wedon't wanna take too much of her
time up.
So if you guys want to email meor Facebook message me either
way, email address is on thewebsite.
Any questions you have, she is abus transportation driver.

(06:53):
So any

Joni (06:54):
For all the parks and the resorts

Nick (06:55):
for Yes, just for a Disney bus transportation driver.
So she does it all.
If you have any questions, emailthem to me.
I told her we would submit fiveand five only'cause I don't
wanna take up too much of hertime.
So I think that'd be reallyinteresting.
They see it all bus drivers seeit all.

Joni (07:12):
Oh yeah.

Nick (07:12):
yeah.
You know.
Very interesting.
She's a, a super nice lady.

Joni (07:17):
I have a question.
You don't have to be thissubmission.

Nick (07:19):
You gotta, you gotta email it to me.

Joni (07:22):
Okay.
No, I don't.
Why is the Animal Kingdom Lodgepick up the furthest one from
the doors?

Nick (07:29):
That was a question actually in, in the group of,
not that group but anotheranimal kingdom page I belong to,
and they're

Joni (07:36):
so far away.

Nick (07:37):
The animal Kingdom lodge.
Bus is the furthest away fromthe Animal Kingdom Park gate.
Yeah.
Why?
That

Joni (07:45):
I get, I get that everybody has their home spot,
but those do have the marquee orthe things that can slide Out
and you can change'em.
And I don't know why they justdon't rotate'em every once in a
while.
thing,

Nick (07:55):
yeah.
You would think that'cause yeah.
Animal kingdom.
Especially for Animal KingdomPark.
Yeah.
It's the, it's the last slot.

Joni (08:03):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Nick (08:05):
It's a walk Go ahead and email Nick at main street talk
pod.com or message the, uh.
Podcast Facebook page.
Any questions you have for atransportation driver?

Joni (08:16):
Well, Can you give her first name?
I mean,

Nick (08:17):
there's no, I told her I wouldn't give any information.
Any information?
No.
Okay.
So I'm gonna

Joni (08:21):
well thank you to whoever you are.
Yeah, That's very kind of you.

Nick (08:24):
nice.
Um, over at Hollywood Studios.
This is exciting.
A new snack shop is beingconstructed in Toy Story Land.
Okay.
What, so like a new snack

Joni (08:35):
What's the name?
I'm

Nick (08:37):
They haven't announced a name or a menu or anything.
Oh.
But the construction walls areup.
It's right when you get into toyStory land coming through
Galaxy's Edge, kind of by therestrooms.
Okay.
You know the restrooms that say,I guess they're the only
restrooms in Toy Story land.

Joni (08:50):
yeah.
It's by, um, the, the Alien

Nick (08:53):
shelter.
Yep.
Right across from Buzz, the bigstatue of Buzz.
Yep.
Right

Joni (08:57):
when you walk in, right when you enter.

Nick (08:58):
in.
Right When you enter.
Yep.
They're putting in a new, uh,snack shop there.
They haven't released anyinformation,

Joni (09:03):
I don't even really know what snack shops they have close
by there.
I just

Nick (09:06):
yeah, I don't think there's any in

Joni (09:07):
Well, I, do know after we got, well, that's further back.
But after we got done waiting inthat extremely hot line for the
meet and

Nick (09:15):
there was an ice

Joni (09:16):
my very first thing was cold treats.
Yeah.
We're getting, everybody'sgetting cold treats.
So we went over, just rightacross the way there and got,
they had a little ice

Nick (09:25):
cart.
Yeah.
A little ice cream cart.
Yep.

Joni (09:28):
But I don't, I, I don't know of there being much of
anything snack, wise.
I don't know.
We're just always headed backfor slinky, so.

Nick (09:34):
Yeah.
And I don't like to spend awhole lot of time back there
'cause the heat.

Joni (09:38):
yeah, maybe they're, maybe they're gonna cool it down a
little bit.

Nick (09:41):
I say that every show, I will continue to say that every
show until they put

Joni (09:45):
what air conditioned

Nick (09:46):
they sprinkle some crazy weather magic and put wind back
there, I don't know.
That is a

Joni (09:52):
An awning over the whole, over the whole part.
So tune

Nick (09:55):
So tune in next week when I will be complaining about toy
story land heat.
Again.

Joni (09:59):
He's a joy.

Nick (10:01):
And um, so in miscellaneous news.

Joni (10:04):
I don't know,

Nick (10:04):
I don't think I mentioned this.
'cause I, I don't know, itwasn't a huge story, so a couple
weeks ago, the photo passphotographers were testing new
Sony cameras.
So originally Disney and had apartnership with, I think he's
Nikon, I don't know how to saythat word.
They had a partnership withNikon from 2013 to 2021.
So the photo pass people usedthose cameras.

Joni (10:27):
Now,

Nick (10:28):
obviously that contract is up.
They were testing out Sonycameras last or a couple weeks
ago, and they are going to usethem for all the parks.

Joni (10:37):
It's Nikon, by the way.

Nick (10:38):
it Nikon?
What?
I say?

Joni (10:39):
I have no idea.
You

Nick (10:40):
I said Nik.
I dunno.
I think you're right.
I think it is Nikon.
Oh,

Joni (10:44):
whatever.
It's N-I-K-K-O-N-N-I-K-O-N.
Oh, N-I-K-O-N.
See, I can't do it either.
Anyway, guys, so I thought thatTheir photos were pretty good.

Nick (10:54):
Yeah, no, I think thought they were pretty good too.
So

Joni (10:56):
cause contract's up, um, give somebody

Nick (10:58):
Yeah, I, I guess, but it was been up since 2021, so I,
maybe they thought it was histime didn't move on.
Like I said, I don't knowanything about cameras, but I,
the website I was on had all thespecs and everything, which is
completely foreign to me, but Ican't imagine they would, I
would imagine it would be apretty big upgrade if they were
gonna upgrade.

Joni (11:16):
Well, and I can't imagine any of the cast members actually
submitting any photos that.
Weren't good, so they probably

Nick (11:23):
Oh, yeah.

Joni (11:24):
You know, go through, but I thought that Every photo that
we've gotten

Nick (11:27):
our photo have been great.
Yeah.
Very

Joni (11:29):
and clear and you know.
Good coloring.
And yeah,

Nick (11:32):
even the ones that show up in our account of other
families, they're great.
Yeah, they're great.
They're great.
So

Joni (11:36):
So if any, if anyone's missing any photos, they might
be in our account.
Yeah.

Nick (11:39):
And, and if you have any of ours, yeah, please send them
to us.
So that's, uh, that's you

Joni (11:44):
them on the wall at your family for reunions.

Nick (11:46):
Who is that?
I don't know, but they're havinga good time.
Um, that's it for the news thisweek.

Joni (11:51):
Really?
That's it.
That's a, that's not very muchnews.
Nothing in, no, nothing in

Nick (11:54):
I mean, there, there's always little bits in here and
there, but nothing worthmentioning like, epcot.
The

Joni (12:00):
are the animals.
Good

Nick (12:02):
animals seem to be fine animals.
I haven't heard anything bad.
Okay.
Um,

Joni (12:06):
no.
No babies?

Nick (12:07):
No.
The baby tigers growing up.
Okay.
What's his name?
Basco.
I think his name's bso, I think.
I don't remember.
Okay.
There was a little bit of newsoutta Epcot about, test track,
previews, they filled up prettyquick.
I mean, within.
It was very quick.
I think it was like 13 minutesor something.
Yeah, nothing in animal kingdom.

Joni (12:27):
minutes.
Okay.

Nick (12:28):
Kinda of a slow Newsweek.

Joni (12:30):
Just wondered how the farming and the animals were
doing.

Nick (12:32):
Farming's great.
Animals are great.
Okay.
So I think we should move on toour week four winter.

Joni (12:39):
Really?
Okay.

Nick (12:40):
Yeah, let's do that.

Joni (12:41):
hoo.
Okay.

Nick (12:43):
Before we get onto, spotlight of attraction, out of
attraction and tips and tricks.

Joni (12:48):

'cause I've got mine ready togo.

Nick (12:51):
I do now.

Joni (12:52):
Okay.
I'm spinning.
3, 2, 1.
Go.

Nick (12:56):
spinning, spinning.
Just keep

Joni (12:58):
keeps spinning.
Spinning.
spinning.

Nick (13:01):
Who we got?
What number?

Joni (13:02):
Oh, It's a higher

Nick (13:05):
Oh.
What do we got?

Joni (13:07):
65.
65.

Nick (13:09):
Congratulations to Miranda.

Joni (13:12):
Miranda, congratulations.

And they are reversible,remember?
we

Nick (14:16):
Yes.

Joni (14:16):
that one side One side has, um, has photos.
Of the rides or people enjoyingthe rides or whatnot.
And then it gives all the specrequirements for The ride.
And then you

Nick (14:25):
can flip it over

Joni (14:26):
it can be a horizontal, just like a banner.

Nick (14:29):
So we're going to, do you wanna do Spotlight on Attraction
Next or do you wanna do yourmovie?

Joni (14:34):
What do we usually do?

Nick (14:35):
I think we usually do Spotlight.
Okay, let's do Spotlight.
This is gonna be a kind of ashort one.
Okay.
Um, spotlight this week.
We're gonna stay over inStorybook Circus.
Since we did decide, we're justkind of, kind of go by land.
By land.
We're doing Goofy's.
Barnstormer.
So what do you got on Goofy?

Joni (14:52):
So, is it called Barnstormer or Goofy's?
Barnstormer.
'cause I've, minimized

Nick (14:57):
know what?
I don't know.
I'm gonna look that up rightnow.
I always call it goofyBarnstormer.

Joni (15:01):
call it barnstormer.
Well, you go in and do what youhave on it?
Firstly, because you seem tohave a little bit more
information than I do.
So you can go ahead, and giveyour descriptions and titling.

Nick (15:14):
The official Walt Disney World website calls it the
Barnstormer.
I don't know why.
I've always called it goofy

Joni (15:19):
yeah, I wondered why you Were throwing goofy in there.
So,

Nick (15:22):
According to Disney's website, it's in fantasy land
must be 35 inches.
It says age, interest, preschoolers, kids, which that's
untrue because I will go on thisthing all day.
We have,

Joni (15:35):
have, we have

Nick (15:38):
thrill level is small drops.
And when I dug up on thebarnstormer.
Goofy's.
Barnstormer is a kid friendlyrollercoaster located in the
storybook circus area of thefantasy land at Magic Kingdom in
Walt Disney World.
The ride originally opened in1996 as the Barnstormer at
Goofy's Wise Acre farm, part ofthe now retired Mickey's Tune

(16:01):
town Fair.
Back then the theme featuredGoofy as a clumsy stunt pilot
flying through his owncartoonish farm with the
coaster, zooming through a redbarn filled with humorous props.
In 2011 as part of the newFantasy Land expansion Tune Town
Fair was closed and reimaginedinto Storybook Circus.
The ride was re themed andrenamed Goofy's Barnstormer

(16:21):
featuring the great G Gini.
So right there it says Goofy'sBarnstormer.

Joni (16:25):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (16:26):
Transforming goofy into a circus stunt pilot, performing
daring and silly aerial trickswhile the rides track layout
remain mostly the same, it'sscenery and storyline were
updated to fit the new circustheme.
Good.

Joni (16:38):
Okay.

Nick (16:40):
That's what I got

Joni (16:40):
That's a mouthful.
It that

Nick (16:42):
That one's a lot.
Yeah.
It, it looks like I'm reading, but you know, I typed it out
and, it looks smaller than.
What I just read, it lookssmaller on

Joni (16:51):
that's what I was gonna say.
That's an awful lot to be saidabout, Okay.
Well I have just a tiny bit toadd to that.
Just some uh.
like you had already mentionedthat it height requirement is 35
inches.
The capacity there are 16 ridersper train with two riders per
vehicle sitting side by side.
It's a tier two multipass.
To enjoy this ride, you must beable to transfer from a

(17:14):
wheelchair or an electricscooter vehicle, into the ride
car.
And the duration is less thanone minute.
It's a very, very very shortride.
Yeah.

Nick (17:25):
It seems longer.
Huh?

Joni (17:27):
But you did say that it, was a, um, 1996, October 1st.

Nick (17:33):
Uh, I said 1996.
Yes.
Okay.
Yep.

Joni (17:38):
I was trying to follow along with what you had and what
I had, So, so we didn't give thesame information twice.

Nick (17:43):
So Barnstormer,, it's a fun ride.
It's a cute ride.
I, I still enjoy it.
The good thing about Barnstormerin my opinion is if you have a
child that's, you know, let'ssay four or five years old and
you want to break them in Yeah.
To a rollercoaster, sure.
This is the perfect

Joni (17:59):
yeah.
This is absolutely the breakin.
absolutely.
The breakin rollercoaster

Nick (18:03):
in rollercoaster, it's cute, it's themed.

Joni (18:05):
It's the

Nick (18:06):
in a plane in the park.

Joni (18:06):
one in the parks.
small,

Nick (18:08):
there's no big drops.
It's just a perfect first timerollercoaster.
We took our.
Then you can

Joni (18:15):
Then you can graduate to the others like you know, the
other smallers, like Snow White.

Nick (18:19):
Yeah.
Seven Dwarfs.
Yep.
That's, that's what we did.
We, two of our, our grandkids,we went, um, one of them had
been on Roller Co.
Had been on Slinky before, buthe did not have the best
experience on there.
But we took them both.
And we started with BarnesDormer and then we worked to
Seven Dwarfs.
Mm-hmm.
And then Big Thunder, I believe.

Joni (18:40):
yeah, well ultimately we did all of them.
in a week vacation.
So,

Nick (18:42):
um,

Joni (18:43):
Every rollercoaster.

Nick (18:44):
then Space Mountain, yeah,

Joni (18:46):
Yeah.

Nick (18:47):
they're still mad at me,

Joni (18:49):
so anyway, yeah, this is a great, great one.
Um, just, just remember, uh,keep in mind in this growth
chart, if you guys are, puttingin for it, we'll help with this
as well, but 35 inches for isthe height requirement for this
ride.

Nick (19:02):
Yeah.
And you mentioned it's a, it's atier two lightning lane.
I wouldn't, unless you're gonnause this as a burner ride.
I, I wouldn't

Joni (19:10):
oh.
No, not at

Nick (19:11):
light.
It's, we've never, it's a 15minute wait.
I think it's the longest we'veever waited.

Joni (19:16):
I don't even know that we've waited that

Nick (19:18):
that.
And last year, I remember wewent on it

Joni (19:20):
Total burner ride.

Nick (19:21):
minute waits.
So Yeah.
Don't, don't waste the lightninglane on it unless you're gonna,
you know.
Use a burner ride on it and thatstrategy, we've talked about
that strategy on past shows.
But yeah.
Super cute ride.
Take your kids on it.
Not a lot of fun.

Joni (19:36):
And I love the little cutout of

Nick (19:38):
Yeah.
Goofy

Joni (19:39):
with his body and

Nick (19:40):
Yeah,

Joni (19:41):
like flying through the pieces of wood.
Cute.

Nick (19:44):
So,

Joni (19:45):
it's got the little propeller on the front, like a

Nick (19:46):
Yes, it does.
Um, yeah.
And it's got the, uh, above yourhead, like, you know, the Yeah,
the old school planes that hadthe uh, yeah, yeah.
The canopy above your head.
So yeah.
Goofy's, barnstormer.
I'm gonna call it goofy's.
Barnstormer.

Joni (19:58):
That's right.
You're gonna get me to say thatthat.
way.

Nick (20:02):
All right, that's our spotlight on attraction for this
week.
So let's go over to Joni'sseries on the first appearances.
First appearances.
Okay, So, Today I'm kind ofundecided how I'm gonna do this,
and I really would like someinsight if you guys would
comment on any of our areas ofsocial media.
I initially started out, wantedto do this as, First appearances

(20:26):
for C.
Just characters in general.
Characters

Joni (20:28):
Characters

Nick (20:29):
general.
Yeah.
And

Joni (20:30):
then I'm gone on to, an order of appearance of movie
Right,

Nick (20:34):
by day.
Right?
Yeah.
Right, right.
Opening day.
Yeah.
By date, the first

Joni (20:36):
first appearance day.
so, and then I'm like, gosh, what do I do?
Because.
Now we did Snow White, we didCinderella.
But in between Snow White andCinderella, there's a lot of
movies.
in

Nick (20:47):
We skipped a big chunk of movies.
So

Joni (20:49):
I, but in my train of thought at that time, I had it
to do the princesses.
So I think we're gonna goforward with the princesses in
their release date order.
And then maybe circle back.
And Do like the older ones, likethe Dumbo and the Rescuers and

(21:10):
different Things like that.

Nick (21:10):
we're gonna do princesses first in order of appearance.
So we knocked out Snow White andCinderella.
Today.

Joni (21:16):
We're doing Aurora.

Nick (21:17):
Okay.
What year is Aurora?

Joni (21:19):
Aurora is, for any of you that don't know this, she's with
Sleeping Beauty.
So Aurora came out, her firstappearance was January 29th,
1959.
Her age in the movie is 16.
The creators are Walt DisneyBrothers Grim, Charles Peralt
and Mark Davis.

(21:40):
And I listened to thepronunciation of this for quite
some time earlier today'cause Ido not speak French.
Um,

Nick (21:47):
Is that what I heard?
We, I'm

Joni (21:49):
I'm gonna, try, I'm gonna try to say this and everybody's
probably screaming it at their,

Nick (21:54):
you were trying to learn a new

Joni (21:56):
No.
Well, you know and I am learninga language, but it's just not
French yet.
I'll get to that one though, sobear with me on this.
But anyway, the fairytale is, LA

Nick (22:04):
Bel

Joni (22:07):
Bra.

Nick (22:08):
Domo.

Joni (22:08):
No, that's not right.

Nick (22:10):
good to me.
If there is anybody in Francelistening to this, I apologize.

Joni (22:14):
I apologize.
Good Lord have mercy.
Okay, anyway, it's supposed tomean, and you know, of course
the French say it moreeloquently.
but, It's supposed to meansleeping beauty in the woods.
Is how this is made from, it'sby Charles per It published in
1697.
The Brothers Grim also publishedtheir version Little Briar Rose

(22:36):
in 1812.
So her occupation is, she's aprincess who is raised as a
peasant.
Her father Stefan and QueenLeah, she's an only child.
Her AKAs are Briar Rose and herSidekicks Her family rather are

(22:57):
Flora.
Fauna and Maryweather and thoseare the little fairy girl, the,
you know.
the fairies.
Yeah.
So they're quite a, quite asight to see them bicker and
back and forth to each othersometimes, you know,

Nick (23:10):
gonna have to watch

Joni (23:10):
different things around because they all have their
specific colors.
that they like.
So yeah.
It's cute.
So anyway, sleeping Beauties, spouse if you would, his name is
Philip and he is 20 in themovie.
She's obviously, as I said,French, and, her traits are that
she is stubborn, romantic, cheerful, angelic, blissful,

(23:33):
graceful, loving, gentle,friendly, and poised.

Nick (23:37):
That, that's a, that's a lot of

Joni (23:38):
That's a, That's a lot of

Nick (23:39):
That's a lot of

Joni (23:40):
That's a, That's a, whole

Nick (23:42):
almost as long as my barnstormer speech.

Joni (23:45):
And then, there have been some follow up.
movies Really?
So I

Nick (23:49):
did not know

Joni (23:50):
Um, well, yes you do.

Nick (23:51):
I do.

Joni (23:52):
You do.
Maleficent?

Nick (23:54):
Oh yeah.

Joni (23:54):
2000 and

Nick (23:55):
Yeah.
14.

Joni (23:57):
And then, um, my left Ascent mistress of Evil.
In 2019.

Nick (24:02):
So

Joni (24:04):
So a little bit of miscellaneous information is
Aurora is cursed by the evil.
Fairy Maleficent at herchristening, and the curse
states that Aurora will die frompricking her finger on a
spinning wheel before her 16thbirthday.
However, a good fairy alters thecurse.
She can't reverse it, so it'sstill going to happen, but
instead of her, dying, which iswhat evil Maleficent had

Nick (24:30):
had in mind, hold upon

Joni (24:31):
her the good fairy.
Changes it up a bit and justputs her to sleep instead of

Nick (24:40):
Okay, done Sleeping beauty.
So,

Joni (24:42):
yeah, exactly.
So however, the good fairyalters the curse so that Aurora
instead falls into a deep sleeponly to be awoken by true Loves

Nick (24:51):
Okay.
I don't remember a lot of this.

Joni (24:53):
I, just asked Nick earlier tonight if he had seen this
movie and Nick's not big on, youknow, he's a guy, you know, he's
gonna sit around and watchprincess movies.
No,

Nick (25:01):
but I'm interested in watching this because, I mean, I
do like Maleficent.
I know you do.
I mean, I

Joni (25:07):
That's when you're like, I haven't seen any, of

Nick (25:08):
yeah, you have.
Oh, yeah, yeah, I did for you.
I mean, Maleficent is on my, myDisney card, so I do like
Maleficent.

Joni (25:15):
Yeah.

Nick (25:15):
But it's been a while since I've seen Sleeping

Joni (25:18):
Yeah.
So that's what I have for her.
Well,

Nick (25:21):
Okay.
Well, we're, I think we're gonnahave to watch that very soon.
Maybe tonight, maybe, maybe.
I

Joni (25:28):
I think we should do at least one a week.
I think we should watch whateverwe're gonna talk about, even
though

Nick (25:32):
refresh our Yeah,

Joni (25:33):
Even though I've seen, Well, I'm looking at my list
here.

Nick (25:36):
We'll be right back.
We're gonna go watch SleepingBeauty real quick, and we will
be right back.

Joni (25:40):
I have watched every, everyone that I've seen so far
on my list, down I've I've seenquite a ways.
Yeah.
Well,

Nick (25:46):
All right.
Well, thank you.
That's, that's some good, I, Ilike that segment.
I learned a lot about, Disneymovies.
Sure.

Joni (25:52):
I mean, and I'm sure there's, I mean there's all
kinds of other information likeas far as who voices it, and who
does this.
and who does that,

Nick (25:57):
could go down huge rabbit

Joni (25:58):
Yeah, there's lots and lots and lots more information

Nick (26:01):
yeah, you could really get into that.
And what,

Joni (26:02):
the gist of it,

Nick (26:03):
what is the release date?

Joni (26:06):
Release date was January 29th, 1959.

Nick (26:11):
Disney World was almost four years old when that movie
was released.

Joni (26:14):
Wow.

Nick (26:15):
That's again, that's crazy.
Yeah, because Sleeping Beauty isan old movie.
Disneyland was up and running

Joni (26:21):
For four years For, yeah.

Nick (26:24):
almost four years.

Joni (26:25):
Wow.
Yeah.
There is another little bit oftidbit information in here, but
I've decided to opt out ofincluding that, um, just because
there's so many branches ofinformation that you can spin
off onto this stuff.
But all of these princesses thatwe're gonna go over, well, most
of them, not all of them, but alot of them have.
Children that are in more recentmovies.

(26:50):
Really?
Yes.
Such as?.
Once upon a time, thedescendants.
I

Nick (26:55):
was gonna say there was a show on I believe A, B, C, which
would make sense because Disneyowns A, B, C I'm pretty sure it
was a, B, C.
There was, the show was calledOnce Upon a Time.
Yeah.
And it was all about, likefairytale people.
But I think in modern

Joni (27:07):
if I can just back it up a little bit now that you
mentioned it and she's myfavorite.
So you mentioned Once Upon aTime, and so did I., Snow White
in the Once Upon a Time show ormovie.
Emma Swan and Neil Nolan areboth snow White's children.

Nick (27:24):
Oh, direct children, huh?

Joni (27:26):
Well, you know, for the movies,

Nick (27:28):
right?

Joni (27:29):
And Cinderella has Chad Charming and Chloe Charming, and
they're both in the descendants.

Nick (27:35):
Okay.

Joni (27:36):
So it's kind of interesting.
I mean, there's even, and then,uh, Aurora, and I'm not sure
what show or what movie thischild plays in, but she has a
daughter named Audrey.

Nick (27:45):
Okay.

Joni (27:47):
So I didn't do a whole lot of research continuing on with
those types of things, but maybeI will, just for my purposes,
'cause it's kind of

Nick (27:54):
in a huge, a huge entangled tree mess with that.

Joni (27:59):
But isn't it kind of neat, you know?
to see

Nick (28:01):
yeah, I like stuff like that.
Yeah.
Seen the lineage and thenstories carry on

Joni (28:06):
and then they got new movies and whatnot coming out
and I like watching thedescendants.

Nick (28:10):
I've never seen the descendants.
Really?
Nope.
Another one we gotta watch.

Joni (28:13):
I watched it with our oldest grandson.
Oh Yeah.

Nick (28:17):
Where was I?
I was probably taking a nap.

Joni (28:19):
Yeah.
maybe mowing grass.
I don't know.

Nick (28:21):
Okay.
So that's, leaves us into ourtip or trick of the week.
Okay.
Are you ready for the tip ortrick of the week?
Yeah.
This one seems obvious, likemany do, but, you gotta, you
gotta find stuff to do in Disneythat doesn't cost money.
Mm-hmm.
Save some money and one of thebest things you can do is just
hang out at your resort.
Or resort hop.
We'll get into resort hop onanother show.

(28:41):
But at, at Disney Resorts, whether it's a value, moderate
or deluxe or DVC Villa, thereare always activities to do.
Some cost, money, some are free.

Joni (28:52):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (28:54):
every resort has a, bulletin.
Yeah, usually in the lobby or bythe pool somewhere.
That'll show you what times.

Joni (29:01):
It's also on the.
my Disney Experience apps.
I, believe you can get it onthere, can't you?

Nick (29:05):
No, I don't believe it's on the app.
There is a website out therethat's updated like weekly, that
it's not Disney related, but,,if you Google it, you'll, you'll
be able to find

Joni (29:15):
in the front desk.
We always get flyers from thefront desk and we take it to our
room.
The front, your front desk atyour hotels will have these?
events.
We

Nick (29:22):
they

Joni (29:23):
it.
We, We did it, yeah.
when we got our anniversary.
pins,

Nick (29:26):
So basically what these are is,, anything from like pool
games, trivias games at thepool, um, tie, ding, I think
that's extra.
I think most of the resorts dotie, tie ding.
What they did really

Joni (29:41):
they, they have the night in the movies.

Nick (29:43):
Every night there's a movie

Joni (29:44):
night.
there's a movie.
They switch it around.
They

Nick (29:46):
Under the stars.

Joni (29:47):
Yep.
They have s'mores.

Nick (29:48):
have s'mores.
S'mores.
You, they have a campfire.
The marshmallows are free.
The graham crackers andchocolate.
It is additional costs.
But we took our

Joni (29:57):
we did take our own the first time.
We did not.
We did not.
because We didn't know what wedidn't know.
So,

Nick (30:01):
So yeah, we, we packed, we packed chocolate and Graham
crackers from home.
Yep.
Right.
Yeah.
And we took, we went right outto the fire and nobody said
anything.
Yep.
Who's gonna, you know?
Yeah.
But a lot of them are resortspecific, depending on where
you're staying, what they'regonna do.
Like at Animal Kingdom, they dolike, African bead making and
stuff like that.

(30:21):
I mean, that's an extra charge.
But what interesting thing theywere doing when we were there
last time I was in the giftshop, I think.

Joni (30:27):
gonna talk about the floor.

Nick (30:28):
Yes.
I went somewhere

Joni (30:30):
that was so much fun

Nick (30:31):
I came back and Jonie is sitting on the floor, and this
is in Jambo house, this hugeoversized lobby, Joni's sitting
on the floor with about 13 kidsaround her with a crayon.
And I'm like, what are youdoing?
So on the floor at the AnimalKingdom Lodge, there's like, um,
metal imprints of animals on thefloor.
And they give you a, they giveyou a piece of paper and you

(30:53):
take a crayon over it and youmake, an indention.

Joni (30:55):
have, you hold it sideways.
Yeah.
And you, and you just, you know, like you're tracing out right.
Shadowing like a leaf.
Like you just take a, but yeah,it

Nick (31:04):
color the paper and the empty space.
Yep.
Makes up the

Joni (31:07):
It was so neat and I had no idea and we had walked over
that thing a bazillion times, Iknow.
And I'm doing that every singletime now.
because there's, a, there's alot of animals and you can make
your own scenic thing that canget as big as a piece of paper
as you want and you know, different colors and Yeah.
It's really.
neat.

Nick (31:24):
So yeah, make sure you, you know, if you're on Disney
Resort,, they do stuff.

Joni (31:28):
then another thing, even that same day that was happening
is off in the, in the backgroundof doing this,

Nick (31:34):
art

Joni (31:34):
the floor, there was a, a man, a younger man, carving out
Wood animals.
Wood animals, for animal

Nick (31:43):
Yeah.
Then he was selling'em in thegift shop.

Joni (31:45):
Yep.
So those things that you canbuy.
Which, you know, we have some,we you can buy'em in the gift
shop.
He literally, it was just sointriguing and interesting to
see somebody actually doing it.
Like, you know, somebody, handdid it But to actually be
watching it done was very, itwas really cool.

Nick (32:01):
Yeah.
So, and you know, that's what Imean by resort specific, like
that was specific to AnimalKingdom, but every resort, I
don't know if the values do,'cause the values are kind of
all, you know, one and the same.
But, yeah, just check out yourresort.
Find things to do around therebecause I mean, you can have,
you can have a lot of fun atyour resort.

Joni (32:18):
Yeah.
And it's not, it's not toostressful.
And, you know, we always, wealways do stuff around our
resort on our off days.
We

Nick (32:24):
always try to do at least one night of a movie under the
stars.
Mm-hmm.
Because it's relaxing.
It's,

Joni (32:29):
relaxing.
we actually watched, the lasttime we were there, we watched
Tangled.

Nick (32:33):
It was Tangled.
Yes.
Ani.

Joni (32:35):
Yep.

Nick (32:37):
but Kani has their movie theater right next to, the bar.

Joni (32:40):
Yeah,

Nick (32:40):
the outdoor bar.
Yeah.
Which, I mean, it's fine.
It didn't get rowdy or anything, but you could, you know, people
were

Joni (32:45):
rowdy at Kani.

Nick (32:46):
Yeah.
People were swimming and, youknow, kids were diving in the
water and stuff, which it wasfine, but it's

Joni (32:52):
it's it's a smaller area.
Yeah, I think some of the valueshave more space.

Nick (32:57):
Well, yeah.

Joni (32:58):
like when we were at pop.
It had a bigger space.
Yeah,

Nick (33:00):
it had a bigger

Joni (33:01):
You know, you get the pool chairs to sit in And, You can
lounge back and different thingslike that.

Nick (33:07):
Yeah.
So check out your resortactivities.
It's free., It's, you know, it'sfun to do.
Yeah.
Some of it is not free.
But every on the poster board orwhatever the bulletin they have,
it'll have dower signs next toall the paid

Joni (33:18):
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
