your go-to podcast for all theDisney World news, the tips, the
tricks, spotlight on all theattractions.
I am your host, Nick, and asalways Joni is with me.

Joni (00:39):
Hello everyone.

Nick (00:41):
So today's the big show.
Today is the big show.
We're giving away the$50 giftcard.
We've done eight weeks of postergiveaways, and it's all been
leading up to this.
That gift card is the winner'schoice, whether it's a physical
gift card or e-gift card eitherway.
This is exciting.
Yeah,

Joni (00:59):
the final countdown,

Nick (01:00):
final countdown.
The final countdown is here.

Joni (01:01):
the final countdown.

Nick (01:04):
I haven't heard that song in so long.
And next week we will beannouncing another giveaway
we're gonna be doing.
We're gonna work out the detailsof that and how we want to get
that to go.
But it will be just as fun.

Joni (01:17):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (01:18):
Mm-hmm.
So make sure you tune in nextweek for that.
That's right.

Joni (01:22):
That's right.

Nick (01:23):
Yeah, this has been a lot of fun.
We met Seth along the way.
We did Seth, we interviewed Sethlast week with that Great.
Absolutely heartwarming storyabout his daughter.
If you haven't heard that, goback and listen to last week's
episode.
That's,

Joni (01:36):
And he's got some tips on there too.

Nick (01:37):
He does have some tips and, he told me he's open to
come on a future.
Show him Yeah.
And discuss more tips and, uh,I'd love

Joni (01:44):
to have him.

Nick (01:44):
Yeah, he was, yeah.
Such a great show.
And we have some exciting news.
Joni and I are booking our firstDisney

Joni (01:50):
We are,

Nick (01:51):
We are.
We are.
It's been a while.
We found one we wanted, thatwill be going on.
Nick's

Joni (01:57):
only been looking for how long?

Nick (01:59):
I, I've been looking for about a couple weeks.
I think

Joni (02:03):
told me a few days ago.

Nick (02:04):
Yeah.
I told her a few days ago,

Joni (02:06):
but every time I pass

Nick (02:07):
it,

Joni (02:07):
his laptop screen is a ship, so I knew we were, getting
close to,

Nick (02:13):
Well, I was trying to drop hints.
to drop hints.
Yeah.
And then finally the other nightI just came out with it.
Was it last night?

Joni (02:21):
Well, I don't know.
We watched several videos,

Nick (02:23):
We watched some

Joni (02:23):
some comparisons on the room styles

Nick (02:26):
Yep.

Joni (02:27):
different things like that.
Speaking of the, the crews, there is one thing that, since
we've not booked yet, we knowwe're going in the month of
September.
Yes.
So, in everyone's opinion, thelistener's opinion, I would like
to.
Maybe see if they could

Nick (02:44):
give some insight what

Joni (02:45):
they would choose.
Okay.
So we have the option of eitherdoing the regular cruise,

Nick (02:50):
cruise, or

Joni (02:53):
the Halloween cruise.

Nick (02:54):
yeah.
On the Disney Fantasy now.

Joni (02:56):
Now,

Nick (02:56):
Same exact cruise.

Joni (02:58):
same exact, same destinations, all that.
Yes.
And Nick's favorite holiday isHalloween.
However, I think.

Nick (03:05):
think

Joni (03:07):
As it stands, we're kind of maybe thinking of doing just
the traditional cruise for ourfirst, or should we just jump
head first and do the Halloween?
So I'm just kind of curious.
They are cute

Nick (03:20):
dressed.
Yeah, they are.
They are.
So the cruise is literally, it.
The one, the regular cruise, once it gets back to port, it's
going right back out as aHalloween cruise.
Yeah.
And we could do either or, andthe price is very, very similar.
So,

Joni (03:37):
well for the time allowed, I mean, the month, it's
literally one week or the next.
Right,

Nick (03:41):
Right, exactly.
I want to do a regular cruise, but I would be interested in
your guys'

Joni (03:46):
Anybody that's ever been on both.

Nick (03:48):
Right.
Yeah.
Because we've never been on aDisney cruise, and I think I'd
like to experience the regular, but yeah.
I'd, I'd be open to hearanybody's opinions

Joni (03:55):
Or Yeah.
Even if they've been on aregular and maybe not the
Halloween or vice versa, or, orhadn't been on any of'em, tell
us which ones you would

Nick (04:01):
choose or, yeah.
Or just say, Hey, I've, I'vebeen on, you know, Christmas,
Halloween, and regular.
I don't think, you know, I don'tthink you should jump into a, a
themed cruise right away, orright off the bat.
Yeah.
Being a first timer, so,

Joni (04:12):
right.
I mean, we're first time to aDisney

Nick (04:15):
Right.

Joni (04:16):
we've cruised

Nick (04:16):
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.

Joni (04:17):
Disney.
So anyway, open to, open to someinput there guys.

Nick (04:22):
And speaking of the Disney cruise line, you can contact me
to book a Disney cruise or aDisney World, or Disneyland
vacation or even, vacations byDisney

Joni (04:31):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (04:32):
Destinations by Disney.

Joni (04:33):
Those are

Nick (04:34):
all those.
Fabulous.
Yeah., my services arecompletely free.
I can get you, hooked up withany of the Disney destinations.
You can contact me atnick.Garcia@academytravel.com.
And before we get into the news, couple things.
Little housekeeping from lastweek.
We were talking about theminivan, airport transportation,
and Joni had asked me, okay, does it provide services both

(04:57):
ways?
Now, in my mind, I was thinking, well, I would think so, but I
didn't want to give incorrectinformation.
So we looked it up

Joni (05:04):
on Ben verified.

Nick (05:05):
is that,

Joni (05:06):
No, no.
That, that is a site.
But it has nothing to do withthis.
But we did go in and

Nick (05:11):
we did look it up.
Yes, it is to and from.
And, the contact information.
Go ahead and listen to last weekshow.
We had all the, steps to contactDisney to, to get that right
scheduled.
So another thing is before weget into the show and into the
news, if you like this podcast, please subscribe, comment, rate
us.
That really helps the show getfound By other Disney fans.

(05:32):
So you ready to get into thenews?
I am.
Go.

Joni (05:34):
Okay.

Nick (05:34):
Okay.
The Walt Disney World websitesays the two remaining not so
scary.
Halloween party dates for Augustare now sold out.
So.
Everything in August is soldout.
No more parties in August, whichthis is August 23rd.
So yeah, so that's kind of, wehave a week left.

Joni (05:55):
I think it's expected.

Nick (05:56):
The other sold out dates, there's not a bunch.
I'll just list them off herereal quick.
September 5th.
September 9th.
September 12th.
September 19th.
October 7th, October 9th,October 10th, and of course,
Halloween.
So those are all, as ofSaturday, January 23rd, or I'm
sorry, Saturday, August 23rd.
Those are all sort sold out.
They're not having Halloweenparties in January.

(06:17):
No, but they should.
And Disney has shared, a firstlook at the new ride vehicles
for buzz Lightyear.
Mm,

Joni (06:27):
Yeah.
Those are pretty sweet.

Nick (06:28):
are pretty sweet.
They are pretty sweet.
The new vehicles have a starcommand inspired look with a
purple, green, and great colorscheme.
Now these new ride vehiclesfeatures video monitors with
real-time scores and otherexciting features.
They didn't go into it, but theblasters are no longer gonna be
mounted on the vehicle.
That's where they're gonna, youknow, store them.

(06:48):
But you there will be handheldas well.
Okay.
They look pretty cool.
I saw pictures.
It was on a pallet actually.
That's how new it was.
That's

Joni (06:54):
That's how new it was.
That's how new.
Yeah.
Very, very new.

Nick (06:56):
And Disney released some updates on Big Thunder.

Joni (07:00):
The

Nick (07:00):
will be seen a brand new and smoother track lighting and
effects, and it'll also begetting an exterior change to
match the upcoming piston peakedition.
There are other things coming tothe popular attractions.
Riders will get to enter thespectacular natural caverns full
of photo fluorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating.

Joni (07:21):
Iridescent.

Nick (07:22):
Iridescent.
Thank you.
I'm having a problem with thatword, Stites.

Joni (07:26):
having bike.
Poor guy.
You looked at me like, likeyou're drowning.

Nick (07:31):
Yeah.
This is all a nod to the RainbowCaverns Mine Train opened in
Disneyland in 1956 and closed in1977 to make way for the Big
Thunder Mountain Railroad there.
So big updates on, buzz and BigThunder.
Mm-hmm.
Big Thunder again is, isscheduled to open sometime next
year.
They have not released any sortof timeline for that, but, new

(07:53):
track system and everything.
Yeah.
And I, I, I figured like theyannounced they were gonna do
something with the track.
I knew nothing that they weregoing to, make it match Piston
Peak, which makes sense, Iguess.
But, I didn't read anythingabout it.
I did not hear if they're, youknow, that old picture they have
of Imagineer, Tony Baxter?
Mm-hmm.

(08:14):
I, I think they will keep it.
I hope they keep it, the one

Joni (08:17):
one that they had mounted up in the

Nick (08:18):
the queue.
In the queue.
Yeah.
They haven't heard anythingabout changing the queue, so

Joni (08:22):
for those of you who don't know, he was the Imagineer for
that ride.
Yep.
And his painting is up in thequeue.

Nick (08:31):
Yep.
Above your head.
Yeah.
So

Joni (08:33):
It looks old timey, so you might

Nick (08:35):
Yeah, I think he's

Joni (08:35):
if you don't know who Tony Baxter is, you may think that
it's just part of the,

Nick (08:39):
the, decoration or

Joni (08:41):
of it.
Yeah.
But,

Nick (08:42):
but yeah, it's him,

Joni (08:43):
designer, the Imagineer.

Nick (08:45):
Yeah.
Disney hides, stuff like thatall over the

Joni (08:47):
Yeah, they do.

Nick (08:47):
like at the Pandora, the, restaurant over in Pandora.
All the dog tags they have of,so yeah.
Joe Roddy's dog tags over there.
If you don't know, he's the onethat built animal kingdom.

Joni (08:58):
We'll get to that when we

Nick (08:59):
We'll get to again, we'll get to that,

Joni (09:00):
Kingdom, but yeah, just a little bit of tidbit there.

Nick (09:03):
So that's, big news from Magic Kingdom and over at
Hollywood Studios Disney hasshared the first concept r in
details for rock and rollercoaster, the New Rock and Roller
coasters.
The new version of theattraction will be named Rock
and Roller Coaster, starring theMuppets.
Okay.

Joni (09:18):
Okay.
You

Nick (09:19):
You know the big guitar and this is outside the, the
ride.
So the guitar in the rock androll coaster Courtyard is
painted almost like a tie dye, very bright colors with rock and
roller coaster starring theMuppets in the lower left corner
of the guitar.
So they left it?
Yeah.
The guitar's still there.

Joni (09:37):
What about the, what about the car

Nick (09:39):
on

Joni (09:40):
on the tracks as you're entering the, as you're entering
that area, you go, you walkunder a car.

Nick (09:46):
Oh, well, the, they didn't say, they didn't say anything
about that.
I, I was like, I'm trying tothink in the, the queue and I'm
like, wait, where's the car?

Joni (09:52):
were gonna be hanging out of it or something.
That would

Nick (09:54):
would be cool.
I didn't even think about that.
So basically the, the story ofthis, there's kind of a
backstory in a story.
So the story is guests are on aVIP tour of GForce Records,
though the Electric Mayhem havea concert across town, they're
delayed in the recording studio, which guests will see as part of
the pre-show.
So you know the little studioyou go into, Aerosmith was

(10:16):
there, and the booth is a teamof Penguin audio engineers.
Oh, the penguins and Scooter.
You know, scooter, the Muppet, our animatronics and Miss Piggy
and Kerman appear on thescreens.
Okay, now the backstory isscooter's uncle, the Real estate
Tycoon, and owner of the MuppetsTheater, jp.

(10:37):
I don't know, JP Gross orGrossy, I don't know.
Purchase G four Rec GForcerecords and put Scooter in
charge.
Oh.

Joni (10:44):
Oh.

Nick (10:45):
After the pre-show, guests bore the attraction With the
help from our friends at theMuppets Labs in a very fast
limousine.
Disney describes we'll take atwisting, turning, and
screamingly fun road trip acrossHollywood to reach the concert
in time.

Joni (10:59):
Oh yeah.
I like that ride.

Nick (11:01):
I do like that right, too.
I, I'm excited for this.
You know, they took'em up atshow out, but they're moving
them.
Yeah.

Joni (11:09):
Yeah.

Nick (11:10):
So I think it's gonna be fun.
I think it's gonna be a FI mean,it's a fun ride.
Anyways.
Yeah, I think it's gonna besuper fun with the Muppet

Joni (11:18):
So I'm hoping that with this ride opening that they, the
two old men that are in thebalcony, yeah.
I hope they move those.
They're fine.
Two men over there somewhere.
They're just so hilarious.
And they actually, I didn't knowthis, so I did do a little bit
of looking up on it.
Their names are Statler andWaldorf

Nick (11:37):
Sta.
Statler and Waldorf.
I never knew that either, butthat's funny.

Joni (11:40):
And they are a pair of, Cantankerous Muppet characters
who appear on the balcony of theMuppet Theater to heckle and
criticize the performance in theMuppet Show, the previous Muppet
show.
They are named after two famousNew York City hotels.

Nick (11:55):
Really, they

Joni (11:56):
are known for their constant negativity and
mean-spirited comments, oftenhaving the last word at the end
of episodes.
Statler is the one in the blacksuit, and Waldorf is
distinguished by his mustacheand brown suits.

Nick (12:11):
I hope they move them over.
Yeah, they're funny.
I

Joni (12:14):
had no idea that they were named after hotels.
That's

Nick (12:16):
didn't either, which, I mean, I've obviously heard of
the Waldorf in New York.
I've never heard of Statler, Idon't think, but yeah.
That's funny.
I

Joni (12:23):
they were named after them though, but that's

Nick (12:25):
Me neither.
Yeah.
They

Joni (12:26):
think they're so comical.

Nick (12:27):
They're funny.
They're like grumpy old men.

Joni (12:29):
old men.
Yeah.
Puppet style.
Yeah.

Nick (12:32):
Over an animal kingdom.
This is another exciting news.
This has been exciting.
Week of Disney News, Disney'sAnimal Kingdom will debut
Zootopia Better together onNovember 7th.
Of course, that's going insidethe Tree of Life.
Replacing.
It's tough to be a bug.
I know.
It's a nine minute four D showpresented in Carrot Vision and

(12:54):
hosted by a new Wolf characterHeidi Howler.

Joni (12:58):
Hower.
Heidi Hower.
Heidi

Nick (12:59):
Heidi Holler will be hosting this show November 7th.
They got that done pretty quick.

Joni (13:05):
did Well.
I mean, you've got the wholetheater there.
You're able to work inside inany weather.
Mm-hmm.

Nick (13:10):
And, uh, just change the steaming and, and make a new
show and make a new, uh,effects.
And I'm excited.

Joni (13:17):
Yeah, me too.
I really love.
It's tough to be a bug though.

Nick (13:21):
I did too.
I liked it.
A lot of people didn't like it.
I liked it.
I, I, I thought it was fun.
It was cute

Joni (13:27):
when we took the kids and that little creature comes
running under your seat.

Nick (13:33):
yeah.
When the seat starts moving.

Joni (13:35):
And we didn't even know what to expect.
But, you know, then, you know, consecutive tire, you know,
after we'd gone in afterwards,it didn't happen.
It didn't work.
Like, like it was kind of someof the things that were
happened.
Malfunctioned or you know, waskind of wearing down.
It just didn't work.
But anyway, it's gonna

Nick (13:54):
you know, and it could be that it is probably been known
for a while.
They were gonna do somethingwith the tree life and maybe it
just stopped working and theywere just like, what, what's,
why fix it?
Why fix it?

Joni (14:04):
Well, and it didn't affect everybody's, no,

Nick (14:07):
And also at Animal Kingdom, Disney World has made
an adjustment to its extendedevening hour schedule.
Extending evening hours, ofcourse, are for deluxe guests,
get an extra two hours in thepark.
It's usually

Joni (14:19):
cut short because of the animals?

Nick (14:21):
Yeah, well I'm, I was gonna say it's usually Monday
and Wednesday.
Oh.
And it's usually Magic Kingdomand Epcot.
Oh.
They do change it around like, you know, for, especially during
party season.

Joni (14:31):
Yeah.

Nick (14:32):
That's not set in stone.
Make sure you check the calendar

Joni (14:35):
Yeah, guys really do, because it does change and we,
we always try to plan it towhere our rest, you know, where
you're not at an extended hours.
Right.
And then you gotta get up andlike go to Magic Kingdom.
Yeah.
The next day for early entry.
And you're just, your feet are

Nick (14:52):
so

Joni (14:53):
to move

Nick (14:54):
on.
Let's see, October 27th, it willbe at Animal Kingdom instead of
Epcot.

Joni (15:01):
Epcot.

Nick (15:02):
I cannot stress this enough.
If you have ever had theopportunity to do Animal Kingdom
at night.
I know we've said it in thepast, but it is so gorgeous at
night and I'm, I mean, obviouslyPandora is stunning at night,
but not even Pandora.
Like we walked from Pandora toEverest, remember, and those are
in complete opposite ends of thepark.

(15:22):
Just the walk over there wasamazing.
It's a whole different park, youknow,'cause like all the little,
restaurants and everything'sdimly lit.
Yeah.
And it's dark and it's, it'sjust really

Joni (15:34):
And even looking up at Mount Everest with the lighting
that it's

Nick (15:37):
yeah.
With the moonlight.
Yep.
Yeah.
It's, so if you get a chance todo that after hours and October
27th, if you're staying deluxe, you have that opportunity.

Joni (15:45):
Yeah.
And you can see a little bitmore of like the sky with the
moon and the

Nick (15:48):
mm-hmm.
And different things

Joni (15:49):
that, because it's not as lit as.

Nick (15:52):
It's.

Joni (15:53):
Some of the other parks.

Nick (15:55):
Yep.
So that's it for news this week.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
I, not a lot, but big news.
Yeah.
It's big news.
Exciting news.
Yes.

Joni (16:03):
it is.

Nick (16:04):
It's, so that's gonna bring us to that time.

Joni (16:06):
in Epcot.
Nothing

Nick (16:08):
in Epcot.
Nothing worth, noting unless youwanted me to go through all the
boots, what they're gonna beserving.
No,

Joni (16:13):
No, no.

Nick (16:15):
Yeah.
Um, the, the show would be five

Joni (16:17):
wait till we go on vacation just to eat.
You talked about us just goingjust to eat everything.

Nick (16:23):
so I, it's that time.

Joni (16:24):
so let's do it.

Nick (16:25):
do it.
$50 gift card drawing.

Joni (16:28):
okay.

Nick (16:29):
Again, this will be a physical or e-gift card,
whichever you choose.
So I think we're ready.

Joni (16:36):
are

Nick (16:37):
We are ready.
You have the wheel.
I have the list.
3, 2, 1, spin.

Joni (16:42):
spinning, spinning,

Nick (16:43):
go.
Exciting.

Joni (16:46):
Oh my goodness.
Oh,

Nick (16:48):
the$50?

Joni (16:50):
number.
Nine zero.
90.

Nick (16:53):

Joni (16:55):

My fingers are crossed forwhoever it is.

Nick (16:58):
We have Charlene.
Okay.

Joni (17:02):
Good job.
Charlene.

Nick (17:03):

C-H-A-R-L-Y-N-E.
Charlene is from thePhilippines.

Joni (17:11):
Oh wow.
Congratulations, Charlene.

Nick (17:13):
Halfway around the world.
How about that?
Wow.
So fantastic.
I'm not going to like give, I'mnot gonna, I usually, you know,
give a few letters of the email, but, charlene from the
Philippines.
That's, that's identifying

Joni (17:25):
identifying enough.
For sure.

Nick (17:27):
Congratulations, Charlene, on the$50 gift card.
We will be emailing you, laterthis week to make sure you check
your, all your, inboxes.
All your folders.
That's exciting.
We have an

Joni (17:39):

I've kind of teared up overhere, then it's over,

Nick (17:43):
Disney or Disney plus.
Yeah.

Joni (17:45):
Very exciting.
Congratulations to all of ourwinners

Nick (17:48):
We are just worldwide.

Joni (17:51):
Yeah.
And we wanna, we wanna thankeveryone for, for listening and
stay tuned because this is, thisis just the one of many

Nick (17:58):
Yeah.
Um, like I said, next week onthe show, we will be announcing
our next giveaway.

Joni (18:03):
Yeah.

Nick (18:04):
So just more exciting stuff to come.

Joni (18:06):
I don't know that we would be able to do these
consecutively all the time.
No, but I'm kind of hyped upabout this.
Yeah.
And I really want to just jumpright into another one.
Yeah.

Nick (18:15):
We will figure out a format.
We gotta talk about a formatwe're gonna do, but, something
will start next week for sure.

Joni (18:20):
Because we would like to get something out.
I would like to get somethingout for, Christmas too.

Nick (18:25):
Oh yeah.
Got ideas rolling.
I

Joni (18:27):
rolling.
I know.

Nick (18:28):
Idea's rolling.

Joni (18:29):
I mean, and it's only August.
Yeah,

Nick (18:32):
Yeah.

Joni (18:32):
we might, maybe a Halloween something and a
Christmas something.

Nick (18:38):
could be

Joni (18:38):
to celebrate the festivities with everyone.
We'll see.

Nick (18:42):
goal, our goal is to getting the listeners involved
as well.
Not just us talking.
We like, um, getting peopleinvolved.

Joni (18:48):
Yeah.
So even just come on and say hi.

Nick (18:50):
Yeah.
If you, if you have a story youwanna share like Seth did last
week, email us.
Our email address is on thewebsite at main Street talk
pod.com or it's just nick atmain street talk pod.com.
Email us, tell us what you wannatalk about and we can work out a
schedule.

Joni (19:04):
And if you don't wanna talk, just come on.
Any one of the pages and say hi.

Nick (19:08):
Yeah.
Facebook page.
Yep.
So, okay, well, congratulations.
That was super fun.
$50 to Charlene in thePhilippines.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.
And with that, I, we are goingover to Spotlight on Attraction.
This one is a classic.

Joni (19:25):
Let me get there.
Hold your horses.
Okay.

Nick (19:30):
I'm gonna let Joanie.
Take this one because she, shehas a lot of information on
this.
Jonie made a list when we wentin 2023 of all the attractions
and different highlights ofthem.
And, um, this was really come inhandy

Joni (19:44):
coming in extremely

Nick (19:45):
She, she did it for our own purposes, type

Joni (19:47):
a personality setting in over here, and it's been very
beneficial, very be.

Nick (19:51):
beneficial for this show.
So, uh, so you wanna start?
Okay.
It's a small world.

Joni (19:56):
It's a small world.
Okay.
I apologize.
I was on, movies.
All right.
Okay.
So we're gonna visit, it's asmall world and, it is a slow
indoor water ride, on a track.
It, is a classic boat ride knownfor its cheerful atmosphere, an
iconic song that playsthroughout the ride.
Guests gently cruise throughseven continents where scenes

(20:16):
represent different culturesaround the world, featuring
hundreds of audio animatronicdolls singing.
It's a small world song inmultiple languages.
There's no height requirement.
Kids under seven must beaccompanied by someone who is 14
years or older though, so youcan't just, you know.
a boat, hop on a boat

Nick (20:34):
hop on a boat,

Joni (20:35):
see where you float.
Each boat has six rows, um, andeach row seats about three to
four.
So they can get about, you know, depending on, if you wanna be
friendly with your neighbors or,um, you know, if you got, how
many littles are with your, whatever, 18 to 24 people per
boat.
Oh, wow.

Nick (20:53):
Oh wow.
That's a good,

Joni (20:55):
they can

Nick (20:56):
yeah.

Joni (20:56):
get everybody shuffled through in a Yeah.
Yeah., It is a hard bench styleseating, with a back, but
there's no lap bar, so you haveto remain seating.
You keep your hands and feetinside the boat at all times,
just like out on any other bodyof water.
It's a tier two multipass andriders must be able to transfer
from if you have an electricvehicle.

(21:18):
You can transfer to a wheelchairbecause they do have a
wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Nick (21:24):
Oh,

Joni (21:24):
So I'm sure it's, it might be a little bit longer of a
wait, but obviously, you knowthe rules.
Just tell the cast member.
Mm-hmm.
It is a, about a 10 and a halfminute boat ride.

Nick (21:34):
Is it really?

Joni (21:35):
Yeah.
But you know, it goes by so fastbecause you're looking at
everything and you're, you'rejust so consumed with all the
scenery

Nick (21:41):
like over here, over there, over here, over there.
Yeah.
It's just

Joni (21:44):
It's a little overwhelming.

Nick (21:46):
And you got that song going So over and over

Joni (21:49):
and over and over and over.
It is a, October 1st, 1971opening Day Attraction, and the
song is sung by the famousSherman brothers who, who have
done a lot of songs for Disney.
Mm-hmm.
Like Mary Poppins, I can't thinkoff

Nick (22:05):
top.
Oh, they've

Joni (22:05):
head, but we've done, they've done a lot.
And it sends a message of globalharmony and peace, and the song
will be stuck in your head likewe've talked about

Nick (22:15):
all day,

Joni (22:17):
All day for a while.
Um, the ride was originallycreated for the 19 64 65 New
York World's Fair in support ofthe United Nations Children
Fund, which is the U-N-I-C-E-F.
It was later brought toDisneyland on May 28th, 1966,
and then became part of the WaltDisney's opening Day attraction,

(22:38):
like I said, in 1971.
Mary Blair is responsible forthe writer's, distinctive use of
color, geometric shapes, and asimple childlike art style.
So if anyone knows who MaryBlair is or is not, she has
quite a bit her hand in quite abit of stuff.

(22:59):
Oh yeah.
In the contemporary hotel orresort, is that the one that
she's got the.
The wall, the paintings, thethree legged goat.

Nick (23:08):
Yeah.
I didn't know that was her.

Joni (23:09):
the five legged

Nick (23:10):
goat.
Yeah.
I didn't know that was her, butyeah, that's where it is.
Yep.
It's a contemporary.

Joni (23:14):
Yeah.
So if, I mean, look at thedimensions and whatnot that are
used.
Yeah.

Nick (23:19):
Okay.
Oh yeah, that makes sense.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
So

Joni (23:22):
she's got her hand in a lot of little different tidbits
here and there, but she's, she'ssolely responsible for the.

Nick (23:28):
small world,

Joni (23:29):
For the, it's a small world designing and yeah, with
the coloring and all that, andeven just the queue when you're
standing in there, it's allrainbowed and big, huge blocks
and circles and differentthings.
So, so yeah, that's what I havefor, it's a small world.
The

Nick (23:46):
The only thing I can add, a couple or three things
actually, so there was, wetalked about this on a show a
month or so ago.
before he passed away, RichardSherman wrote new lyrics.
And they just, unveiled themabout a month ago in the final
scene.
And the lyrics say in, in the,it's a small world tomb.

(24:08):
I'm not gonna sing it.
Mother Earth unites us in heartand mind.
And the love we give makes ushumankind through our vast,
wondrous land when we stand handin hand.
It's a small world after all.
Mm.

Joni (24:23):
Nice.

Nick (24:24):
Yeah.
They did get new boats.
It's a small world.
I think they are all, I thinkthey're all complete and in the
ride now.

Joni (24:32):
Um,

Nick (24:32):
yeah, that started this, this year pretty recently, like
very recently.
The only thing I have to add is,I haven't been to Disneyland
since I was, I was little, but Iremember there's a vast
difference between looking at,it's a small world at Disneyland
compared to Disney World atDisneyland.
The outside of it's very big.

Joni (24:52):
Yeah.

Nick (24:52):
know, and, it's Disney World.
It's just kind of in a building.

Joni (24:56):
Yeah.

Nick (24:58):
So, but nonetheless, it's, it's a good, it's a cute ride.
It's a fun ride.
Yeah.
Great way In the airconditioning and beat the heat.

Joni (25:05):
Yeah, for sure.
10 minutes.
Hey,

Nick (25:07):
yeah.
I'll take it.

Joni (25:08):
it.

Nick (25:09):
Okay.
That's, it's a small world.
Mm-hmm.
So what do we have for moviethis week?
Our princess.
Oh

Joni (25:15):
yeah.
Well we just watched this.
It's the latest one that we'vewatched.

Nick (25:21):
I was glad that this one popped up for us'cause I haven't
seen this movie front to end inso long and I used to really
like it when I was younger, soI'm glad this one popped up and
we, I got to revisit this movie.

Joni (25:33):
Well, I'm trying to go in order of, of their appearance.
Yeah.
So next on the list is, Aladdin.

Nick (25:41):
Yeah.

Joni (25:41):
So we have Princess Jasmine, and you know, obviously
as I'm going through these showsor films, it's following the
Renaissance as well.
So we'll touch base on

Nick (25:51):
that.
Mm-hmm.

Joni (25:52):
bit too.
Aladdin came out November 25th,1992.
It is 90 minutes.
The budget was 28 million.
The box office was a whopping500, 4.1 million

Nick (26:06):
1992.

Joni (26:06):
19 92.
As we go, these just keepgetting more and more monetary.
There's so much money involvedhere.
It just blows my mind.
I mean, come on.
You make a 20,$28 million andyou, and you bring in 504.

Nick (26:22):
don't know what that profit percentage is, but it's,

Joni (26:25):
a killing profit.
So we have Director JohnClements.
I'm sorry, Ron Clements and JohnMusker.
It's inspired by the story ofAladdin and the Magic Lamp from
the book of 101 nights, and it'sbased off of Middle Eastern
folklore.
Jasmine's age in this film isabout 15, 16, I'm not quite

(26:46):
sure, but I know that she'ssupposed to, and her father, the
Sultan, says that she only hasthree days that she has to.
Find a suitor to marry.
So it doesn't give a specificage though, so I don't know how
old they had to be when they getmarried anyway, her traits are
that she's a leader, she'sconfident and she's full of

(27:06):
willpower.
She's Arabian and she's theprincess of aba.
Aladdin is depicted as anArabian Street urchin or a
street rat.
That's their occupations,

Nick (27:20):
That's, that's his occupation.
That's an occupation.

Joni (27:22):
occupation.
Aladdin.
So the storyline here is aresourceful street.
Urchin of Araba finds a magiclamp containing a wish granting
genie, befriending the powerful, but mischievous being aladdin
uses the genie to become.
Prince Ali to win the heart ofPrincess Jasmine while also
stopping the evil Jafar fromseizing control of the kingdom

(27:44):
and marrying Jasmine himself.

Nick (27:46):
Jafar Jafar just wants to marry the king's daughter so he
can have all the power he

Joni (27:51):
wants to control.
He wants to take the kingdom.
Away from the Sultan.
So he's a very bad backs

Nick (27:58):
so Yeah.
And Aladdin's a big thorn in hisside.

Joni (28:01):
Yeah.
Yeah.
And as we all know, or, and ifyou don't, the Genie is played
by the late Robin Williams.

Nick (28:08):
is just a great, great performance by

Joni (28:11):
yeah, yeah.
He, he

Nick (28:12):
He nailed it.
Yeah.

Joni (28:14):
And then the other sidekicks, so we have the genie
and then we have a boo who isAladdin's Monkey.
And then we have Raja, who isJasmine's tiger.
And then the not so goodsidekicks or antagonist, rather,
is Jafar.
And then, Yago, which is hismenace, menace, parrot,

Nick (28:36):
which is, oh, I gotta throw this in here.
Gilbert Godfried plays hisvoice.

Joni (28:40):
my gosh.

Nick (28:42):
Perfect.
Casting for that bird.
That's right.

Joni (28:44):
right.
Oh my goodness.
So, obviously Jasmine andAladdin end up, you know, the
end of the story.
Spoiler alert, they end upmarried.

Nick (28:56):
in case you haven't

Joni (28:57):
Yeah.
In case you haven't seen it.
Turn it off five minutes beforenow.
So anyway, there is follow upmovies.
To Aladdin.
Okay.
And the first one is the Returnof Jafar.

Nick (29:09):
Have you seen this one?
I

Joni (29:10):
I have not.
I have

Nick (29:11):
I have not either.

Joni (29:12):
So I don't wanna give away a whole lot of information.
But, obviously Jafar is notsuccessful in Aladdin, right?
In the 1992 film, he's notsuccessful.
So in 1994, in May of 94, thereturn of Jafar comes out and
then, Aladdin and the King ofThieves came out August 13th,

(29:33):
1996, and it was an animated TVseries.

Nick (29:36):
I didn't know that.

Joni (29:37):
And then a Broadway adaptation, which I would love
to see

Nick (29:43):
I would too.
What is

Joni (29:44):
a live action that was released, uh, May 24th, 2019.

Nick (29:49):
Okay.

Joni (29:49):
I would love to see that.
I think if one of our theatersis having it, we should go to
it.
Wait the

Nick (29:54):
the, hold on the Broadway premier then?
Or could you say Broadway andthen live action.
'cause there was a live actionmovie as well.

Joni (30:00):
There was two separates from what I'm understanding.
Okay.
And because it says that, and aBroadway adaptation.
Okay.
And then a live action film wasreleased in 20

Nick (30:11):
okay.

Joni (30:11):
May 24th,

Nick (30:13):
Sorry, I, I got confused.

Joni (30:15):
And then, Jafar has a son

Nick (30:16):
really

Joni (30:17):
that.
Comes, guess which movie heplays in?
Um,

Nick (30:20):
um, return of Jafar?
No.

Joni (30:22):
no.
He plays in the Descendants.
They all play in the

Nick (30:24):
oh, they all play in the,

Joni (30:25):
Oh, that,

Nick (30:25):
that's my, I gotta write that down.
That's whenever she asks you aquestion.
No matter what it is, it's the

Joni (30:29):
it's the descendants is the answer.
Jaffar son is j

Nick (30:34):
like J, J-A-Y-J-A.
Okay J.

Joni (30:38):
But Aladdin and Jasmine also have a son.
I'm not sure how to say hisname.

Nick (30:44):
What's the letters?
Give it to

Joni (30:45):
me.
It's a ZIZ

Nick (30:48):
Aziz

Joni (30:48):
Aziz.
We'll just call it.
Okay.
Okay.

Nick (30:51):
That's how I would say

Joni (30:51):
Yeah.
So, um, they're in thedescendants,

Nick (30:55):
Of course.
They are,

Joni (30:55):
of course.
They're so, of course they are.
A little bit of bonusinformation.
It became the first animatedfeature to reach half a billion
dollar mark and was the fifthhighest grossing film at the
time of its release and thehighest grossing animated film
of all time until it wassurpassed by guess

Nick (31:16):
for animated films.

Joni (31:17):
Yes.
Um,

Nick (31:20):
I don't know.
Oh, come on.
I don't know.
know.
And once you tell me I'm gonna

Joni (31:24):
The Lion King.
The Lion King.
Ah, I can't believe you did getthat.
So we'll get into the Lion Kingwhen Lion King comes, but it was
the highest grossing film,

Nick (31:34):
means

Joni (31:34):
know, every year they're getting a little bit more and
more and more.
But it's, it's stood strong

Nick (31:39):
until, well, yeah,

Joni (31:41):
or until

Nick (31:41):
Lion King.
And even then, I mean, you'retalking$580 million

Joni (31:47):
Yeah.

Nick (31:47):
Yeah.

Joni (31:48):
Yeah.
No, it was, I don't know.
It was that much.
504.

Nick (31:52):
Oh, 504.
I thought you said 80.
Sorry.
Well, still 500,$4 million.
Hey,

Joni (31:56):
you know what?
What's a million here?
A million there and 5 million.
Yeah.
Who cares when you got 504million?
You don't.

Nick (32:03):
I, I wanna say something.
This is a bold statement to, tosay, but I truly believe that
it,

Joni (32:09):
it,

Nick (32:09):
success, I mean, it would've been successful
anyways, but I think it was moresuccessful because the casting
of Robin Williams, I just haveto believe that.
I, I, I can't

Joni (32:19):
well, his personality in

Nick (32:20):
his personality.
His personality, yeah.
And it's like his complete, ifyou ever seen Robin Williams on
stage comedy, it, the genie cameout exactly as that.
I mean, a clean versionobviously.
But, I, I would say that RobinWilliams really boosted he, he
the success of

Joni (32:35):
helped this, this

Nick (32:37):
Sorry, go ahead.
I just had

Joni (32:38):
No, no, I agree.
I absolutely agree.
Um, so this, um, this film wontwo Academy awards.
As well, and I'll get into theAcademy Awards in just a moment
when I run over to theRenaissance tab.
But it also, um, has otheraccolades for its soundtrack,
which was Disney's first numberto win a Grammy award for the

(33:01):
Song of the Year.

Nick (33:03):
Really.

Joni (33:04):
And when we watched it the other night, you said, of my
favorite songs, my favoriteDisney songs coming

Nick (33:09):
my favorite Disney song is in that movie is

Joni (33:10):
is what?

Nick (33:11):
What, I don't know the title of, I don't know the
official

Joni (33:14):
A whole New World.
I

Nick (33:17):
I honestly did not know that was the official title of
that song.
I

Joni (33:21):
I need to give him some sugar or something.
He's over here falling

Nick (33:24):
that is, that is, uh, my favorite Disney song

Joni (33:27):
He even said my favorite song.
My favorite Disney song's aboutto come up.
Oh,

Nick (33:33):
Oh yeah.
I just didn't know the officialtitle.

Joni (33:35):
That's okay.
It's a whole new world, babe.
Okay.
Okay.
So we're gonna jump over here tothe Renaissance.
And so 1992, it was AcademyAward nominations 5 1 2 Annie
Awards, which I'm not gonnaexplain'em again.
Yeah.
Nominated for three and it wonone.

(33:56):
So

Nick (33:56):
33%.
Yeah.

Joni (33:59):
Yeah, it did pretty good.
Did pretty good guys for 500,4,000,003 awards total.
Beauty and the Beast, lookingback over past records won four
of their awards, but Aladdinpulled in all that money.
Disney was just had a great run.

Nick (34:16):
Huge run in the nineties.
Yeah.
Huge

Joni (34:18):
Well, and we're still working on it.
That was only 1992.

Nick (34:21):
Yeah, we're We're two years in.

Joni (34:23):
Yeah.
We're only, yep.

Nick (34:26):
All right.
Well that's Aladdin.
Yeah.
Thank you Joanie.
That's, that was interestingstuff.
Anytime.
I'm gonna get to our tip ortrick now.
Okay.
This one is not necessarily, Iguess it is a tip or trick, but,

Joni (34:37):
I don't even know what this is.
We didn't discuss this.
No,

Nick (34:39):
we didn't.
'cause I, this is like lastminute.
I'm like, you know, I'm gonnatalk about this.
'cause people may not know this.
Especially first time goers maynot know this.
So memory maker, we're nottalking about the memory

Joni (34:50):
maker.
Oh yeah.
Okay.
So

Nick (34:52):
That isn't the tip or trick, but the memory maker is a
service in Disney World, you canpurchase.
So in Disney World, if you don'tknow, there are photographers.
All over the place.
You can't miss'em.
They're in green outfits,holding cameras.
They're all over the place.
If you, if you get a picturetaken by the photographer, you
ha it comes to your, my DisneyExperience app.

(35:14):
You have the option to buy it.
The photo will come inwatermarked.
If you don't have the memorymaker, the memory maker, if you
buy ahead of time, allows you tohave unlimited photos your
entire vacation.
Mm-hmm.
So my tip for this is.
First of all, you have to buythe, the memory maker be, I
would buy it before It's cheaperto buy before

Joni (35:35):
buy.
It is, and we buy it before, right?
And it varies within like maybe20 bucks.

Nick (35:39):
Yeah, I think if you, I yeah, it is cheaper to buy
beforehand.

Joni (35:43):
think it was like 120 when

Nick (35:44):
at the time we went, it was, it was I think 180 5
compared to

Joni (35:47):
And it'll do everybody in your party.
So like if you have a.

Nick (35:50):
tip.
Yeah.
Oh, that's my tip.
So, so if you have a,, let's sayme and Jonie went with two of
our grandkids.
I bought the memory maker, butin the My Disney Experience app,
you have to link everybodytogether that's in on your
reservation.
So if, let's say I wanted to geta picture in front of Cinderella
Castle.
Mm-hmm.

(36:10):
And Joni and our granddaughterwanted to get a picture in front
of Beauty and the Beast Castle, but the park's closing, we want
to get to both whoever's linkedon your reservation can scan
their magic band and get and getthe photos.
Yeah.
It's not just limited to you,it's whoever's linked.
In the app.

Joni (36:27):
That's right.

Nick (36:27):
So that's a, that's a good tip.
Even the kids, like if you havea five year-old kid, she could,

Joni (36:32):
yeah.
Like if one, if one, parentneeded to go back to the resort
to, for a nap.
For a nap for one of the littlesand the older kids stayed in the
park with the other parent.
The one that went to the room isthe one that initially set
everything up.
Doesn't matter.

Nick (36:46):
Yep.
You can,

Joni (36:47):
that, parent in the park with the, with the other child
can still, the child can evenscan their band.

Nick (36:53):
The a a five year-old kid could scan it as long as they're
linked on the reservation withthe purchaser.

Joni (36:58):
Yeah.
Can I add a little something tothat little, little tip or
trick?
Another thing that I had justbecome aware of or we had just
become aware of not that longago, was that, the cast members
like to be surprised.
They like to surprise you withthe memory maker photos.
The magic.
Are they magic photos?

Nick (37:16):
shots.
Yeah.

Joni (37:17):
So it, as they're looking at you and kind of scanning you
and thinking different ideasthat they could wanna, that they
might wanna implement for you.
So you're wowed when you look atyour photos?
I, I'm told that it kind ofbothers them to a degree.
I mean, they're not gonna comeout and be like, right, you
know.
But if you ask for a magic shot,it kind of ruins their fun of

(37:42):
giving that to you to make itmagical.

Nick (37:45):
want to provide you with a magical experience.
And what you, if you don't knowwhat a magic shot is, it is like
they'll put a tinker bell flyingabove your head.
So if they ask you, you know, you're gonna get your picture
taken, they'll say, look up andsmile, or

Joni (37:58):
Or hold out your hand, or,

Nick (38:00):
Well, they're gonna drop something in that photo.
Yeah.
It's called a magic shot.
And

Joni (38:04):
go ask for it, it kind of, it, it ruins their thunder.

Nick (38:08):
it ruins their, they wanna make an experience special and
surprising for you.

Joni (38:13):
And, and they're already looking at you like, I wonder
what I can do for this person.
Right.
So they're, they're, they'retrained to think ahead like
that.
So Yeah.
It's just a wom

Nick (38:23):
wa wa kind of, and yeah, we were told that it does kind
