nick (00:08):
Hello everybody.
Welcome to this week's episodeof the Main Street Talk podcast.
I'm your host Nick, bringing youall the latest Disney World
News, parks, updates, and traveltips.
Thank you for joining us thisweek.
Um, not a lot going on in newsof Disney World this week, kind
of a, a slow week like it waslast week.
But, uh, we got a few things totalk about and like I said last

(00:30):
week, we have a special guestjoining us today.
My wife Joanie.
He is joining us today.
Hi,

joni (00:38):
everybody.

nick (00:39):
Everybody.
Jonie Jonie, everybody.
So she's gonna be along, um,talking about the news and, uh,
this year's us, or excuse me,this episode Spotlight on
Attracts gonna be buzz lightyear.
So that should, that should bepretty fun.
And I know we did Astro Orbiterlast week, and actually we do
have some, uh, news for theAstro Orbiter.

joni (01:00):
Astros.
What

nick (01:00):
are your thoughts on the Astro orbiter?
Joni, you like it?

joni (01:02):
Astros?
Um, my first time on it, we hadour grandkids and um, we did it
in an evening after the paradeand I thought that it was
amazing.
Um, just being at night with thecolors and I think, that it,
gives you a good.

(01:22):
A good, um, view of the park andit was just thrilling.

nick (01:28):
That's what I said last week when I was talking about
it.
I, I said, um, the only timewe've wrote it has been at night
and I don't, I don't think Iwould write it during the day,
to be

joni (01:35):
No, I don't think I would like it during the day either.
It's, it's definitely somethingyou know, you feel like you're
in space with the planets and,and such going, that it's
definitely something that ismore enjoyable and eye appealing
at nighttime.

nick (01:47):
I also said.
last week.
I think it'd be awesome to doduring the fireworks.
Can you imagine the views,

joni (01:51):
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.

nick (01:53):
Getting that timed perfectly with that elevator
system, getting up there andgetting on.
I mean, it could be done'causeeverybody's watching the
fireworks and the line wouldn'tbe that long.
But it, it would be, it would bereally cool.

joni (02:04):
That's true.
And I do have to say you know,if we're gonna be completely
honest that the elevator is a.
little stuffy, so.
Um, and they squeeze quite a fewpeople in there, but the longest
part of it was, was the weightof the elevator.
But they do do their best to geteverybody, um, run through in a,
in a timely manner.
And I think it's worth it.

nick (02:25):
I would be very happy if they just had escalators leading
up to that thing.
'cause that elevator kind of,um, like you said, it's stuffy
and just waiting down there forit.
Mm-hmm.
And then getting up there.
Yeah.

joni (02:33):
Yeah.

nick (02:34):
So, yeah, I'd be perfectly happy if they put in escalators,
but they're not gonna listen tome.

joni (02:39):
But the.
the actual ride itself is verycooling.
After, after waiting for solong, you get a lot of breeze.

nick (02:48):
It's relaxing.
Especially at night.

joni (02:50):
So.
Exactly, Exactly.
Wouldn't be that The

nick (02:52):
way in the The midday Florida sun.

joni (02:55):
That's right.
And our grandkids, who were fiveand seven.
At the time.
um, absolutely loved it.
And like I said, we went afterthe parade to let the park clear
out a little bit and had noweight at that time.

nick (03:08):
Yeah.
And remember our oldest grandsonactually fell asleep.
Before the fireworks.
During the fireworks.
We woke him up after thefireworks and then he was ready
to go.
He's like, let's go.
What's going on A ride?

joni (03:17):
around.

nick (03:19):
Went

joni (03:19):
bought a hot dog and then went on a ride.

nick (03:21):
Alright, anyways, we're gonna get into the news and um,
like I said, there's not a lotgoing on, so, uh, I think the
first thing we're gonna talkabout is at Epcot.
The only thing going on at Epcotthat I found on the news this
week was the new sign at TestTrack has been, installed.
While this seems exciting, um,the sign is there and it's

(03:43):
covered with a black tarp, soyou cannot see anything.

joni (03:46):
black,

nick (03:47):
But that to me, we're just inching closer to, uh, to an
opening.
So I guess that's exciting inthat sense.

joni (03:56):
Well, unveilings are always nice.
The anticipation builds and so

nick (04:00):
Yeah.
Anyway, you can get baby stepscloser to the opening.
I like test track.
I'm excited to see what they'regonna do for it.

joni (04:06):
Yeah.
The only time that, um, thatI've ridden on test track, we
did have an episode where It hadgone down and then, the same
visit with our grandkids.
Our oldest one actually was soexcited that, um.
He went down for a, a littlebit.
and, came to, and, didn'tremember anything of it.

nick (04:25):
Nope.
He was, he was screaming andscreaming, I think just'cause
the excitement, you know, whenit starts accelerating.
And then he stopped screamingand I looked over and he was not
awake.
So I think the excitement hithim and the head rush and we got
done.
And I said, you okay?
And he said, I think I passedout.
And I said, I think you'reright.

joni (04:46):
And now he can't wait to go on it again.
Yeah,

nick (04:47):
he wants to go on it again.
And over at Hollywood Studios, they have changed the early
entry checkpoint to get into ToyStory land.
So this of course, if you'regoing to be

joni (04:57):
early

nick (04:58):
entry in, um, slinky Dog or anything over in Toy Story
Land, we've never actually donethis.
We've always went right to, Ithink we've always done, haven't
we?

joni (05:07):
Yeah.
Yeah.
For the most part.

nick (05:09):
I think we did tower at tower

joni (05:10):
Mm-hmm.

nick (05:10):
Just to get it outta the way.
But anyways, this says that the,um, early entry check-in point
is used to be up between, uh,Walt Disney, Disney World
presents and the toy storylandmarque.
That checkpoint has been movedforward.
Early entry guests heading thetoy storyland will be stopped at
the Hollywood Studios archway byanimation courtyard.

(05:31):
And I guess this is where theyhold the, regular part guests to
enter the queue is.
So I haven't heard how that'sgoing.
I think they just started this.
Um, it'd be interesting to know.
I don't think it'd be that bigof a deal.
I don't know.
Like I said, we've never doneit, so

joni (05:49):
Yeah, it looks like it started, around the 27th of
May-ish, so just a couple daysago

nick (05:57):
Yeah.

joni (05:59):
at this taping time.

nick (06:01):
I forgot to mention today is, uh, we're taping on, Friday
the 30th.
So all the news is current tothe 30th.
And over at Magic Kingdom, theyhave finally announced the,

joni (06:12):
the,

nick (06:13):
um, debut day for the Disney Starlight Dream.
The night away, the new nightparade that's coming, like they
used to have back in the day.
Um, they got, they're bringingit back.
July 20th, there's gonna befloats inspired from films like
Moana, Encanto, Peter Pan, andFrozen.
And it's gonna open up, it lookslike with the, uh, blue Ferry
from Pinocchio to start out theparade.

(06:34):
The parade is going to followthe same, uh, path that the
daytime parades go, the onesthat start in Frontier Land and
go to Main Street, and there'sgonna be.
Two shows a night, one beforethe fireworks and one after the
fireworks.
So this is pretty exciting.
They haven't had a nighttimeparade, I think I read since
2016.

joni (06:54):
which means I've never seen one except the Halloween
parade.

nick (06:57):
Yeah.
But that parade is, thatparade's awesome.

joni (06:59):
Yeah.

nick (07:00):
We're gonna talk about that another

joni (07:01):
We just love parades.

nick (07:02):
yeah, love all parades.
I'm excited to see that.

joni (07:07):
And

nick (07:07):

Like I said, there was not a lotgoing on, so, big news on the
cruise stuff though,

joni (09:52):
Yeah, the combining of the offers is pretty nice.

nick (09:56):
30% off was$250 onboard credit.

joni (09:59):
Yeah.
There's not very many placesthat you can, um, double up on
your, your offers and collectfrom both.

nick (10:05):
Yeah.
Seems like a good deal.
Mm-hmm.

joni (10:07):
So when are we going?

nick (10:08):
go?
When do you wanna go?
That's the question.

joni (10:10):
Yesterday we

nick (10:13):
we actually went on our first, or, or Joni's First
Cruise in March

joni (10:16):
we did.

nick (10:17):
We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise.
How'd you like it?

joni (10:19):
We did.
I loved it.
I think I found a new, A newlove.
An additional new love besidesyou honey.

nick (10:26):
Yeah.
She said, I think I like, Ithink I found something else I
like and we had a good time.
We went to um, where'd we go?
Dominican Republic and Haiti.

joni (10:35):
Yep.

nick (10:36):
The Royal Caribbean owns that beach in Haiti, so that was
nice.
Yeah.

joni (10:39):
it was, and I think from the last time that you were
there, you said that, uh.
They had built a dock becausethe last time you were there,
they, You had to be

nick (10:49):
shuttled in

joni (10:50):
had to be ord ord in by boat.
Yeah.
So

nick (10:53):
was engines.

joni (10:55):
Oh, okay.
I thought maybe they made allthe passengers take an ore and
help.

nick (11:00):
no, it was like a, uh, literally like a shuttle boat
back and forth.
But yeah, they built a new dockthere

joni (11:06):
yeah.
so uh, actually a quiteinteresting.
thing that we actually found outwhen we were on our cruises.
We met several differentcouples, but this one couple had
told us that the reason thatthat dock was, um, built was
that the country had made anagreement with Royal Caribbean
to, um, that they would allowthem to put that in there if

(11:27):
they installed electricity for aportion of the island.
So there's, um, there iselectricity there for them.
Win-win.
Yeah.

nick (11:36):
I think they signed, didn't they sign like a 30 or 40
year contract or something tostay there?

joni (11:40):
Can't.
remember how long, but it waspretty big.
Yeah.

nick (11:45):
So yeah, that was our cruise experience.
We've not made it on a Disneyboat yet.
I think someday we will.

joni (11:51):
Yeah,

nick (11:52):
we'll get there.

joni (11:54):
Nick's really excited to do the water slides.
Me, I will be beach side, um, ina chair.
With a sun hat and he can haveall the slide Funny wants

nick (12:07):
The ship we were on unfortunately did not have a
slide.
Um.
It was actually the smallestship in the fleet of Royal
Caribbean.
But it was nice because Itdidn't take long to get from one
end of the boat to other, Imean, don't, it was big.
It was 900 something feet.
But it didn't take long to getfrom the front to the back.

joni (12:25):
no it didn't.
But for me, my first one, it wasbig enough.

nick (12:28):
Oh yeah.
It was big

joni (12:29):
break me in baby steps.

nick (12:31):
Oh, we're talking about vacations.
I kind of wanna talk about,

joni (12:35):
so

nick (12:36):
became DVC members last year.
And we had our first DVC stayin, uh, November.
We went to Disney World on ouranniversary trip and we did, All
the Christmas things, but ourfirst DVC stay, our home resort
is Animal Kingdom Lodge, so weenjoyed that.
Kind of wanna talk a little bitabout Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Our first, we did a split stay, meaning we spade, I guess you

(13:00):
can call it a split stay.
We did four nights at JamboHouse and three nights at Kani.
Which one did you like better?

joni (13:07):
I really liked, I think I liked Jumbo better.
Did you?
I think I, did.
Yeah.

nick (13:12):
is it the wow factor, like

joni (13:13):
is absolutely the wow

nick (13:15):
because you walk in that lobby

joni (13:16):
it's just massive

nick (13:17):
jaw dropping

joni (13:19):
and it smells so wonderful.

nick (13:20):
wonderful in there.

joni (13:21):
And you know, you have for each, for each place you have
the, animals right outside, butthere's just something about
walking into that one with thosehigh ceilings and that that
lobby and those big giganticwindows that just look outside,
it makes you feel like you'reright.
And.
Right In another country right

nick (13:40):
like you're in Africa.
Yeah.
Really does.
Yeah.

joni (13:42):
And the staff there, when you go out on the little tours,
just, you know, it's got alittle area that's fenced off,
but you're still very close.
to the animals, not in armsreach or whatnot, but there's
lots of staff that, um, are veryhelpful and eager to share, you
know, insights with You.
and give you information on allthe animals and things that you.

(14:05):
Wouldn't even think to ask.
They're just super excited to,you know, help you out.
And one time we even had, um, acouple of gentlemen at a table
that you had to, um, guess thedung for, which would, to which
animal?

nick (14:20):
Or, uh, name the feces to the species.
That's right.

joni (14:23):
That's right.
And I think we got it.
interesting, I, and and theywere very informative as well,

nick (14:29):
and it was actually real, real dung.
But I mean, it's not like, youknow, it was preserved and
encased.
I don't know.
I even know how to explain it.

joni (14:38):
I did not.
know it was

nick (14:39):
It's real.
Oh, I

joni (14:40):
Oh, I did not know that.

nick (14:41):
it.
I did read.

joni (14:42):
Did I touch it?
I, don't know.

nick (14:44):
I, I, they were definitely touching it.
I don't know if I touched it,but now I wanna go wash my
hands.
But yeah, I read that it's realand they like encase it and
like, um, cause it's hard.
It's like a, a glossy hardfeeling.

joni (14:56):
Yeah.
But You know, some of thoselike, you know, you gotta match
to a giraffe.
You have to match to anelephant.
You have to match to differentanimals.
And some of the size, some ofthe size, you would not think.
goes to these large, enormousanimals.
But, um, you know, I learnedthat, The giraffe is very, he's
my favorite animal.

(15:17):
I love the giraffes and, um, Ilearned quite a bit about their
digestive system when I wasthere.
So anyway, enough About, Doug,but

nick (15:26):
and the species.
Um, another interesting factabout Animal Kingdom Lodge is it
is the largest, has the largestAfrican museum, What do you call
'em?
Artifacts, exhibits.
The most, the biggest Africanmuseum outside of Africa.
If you go in the lobby, there'sa ton of stuff to look at there.
And even in the side rooms andthen down, down the hallways,

(15:48):
even going to your room

joni (15:49):
and they're massive hallways.
They all inter, they allconnect.
And each one has little, um,cubbies that has, and By the
elevators, things hanging.
And they're all very unique and,um, original to Africa.

nick (16:04):
Yeah.
I was looking at, um.
I was walking down the hall, Idon't remember what I was doing,
but I stopped'cause they had,uh, it was like wooden sandals
that were made in Africa.
That was, that's just the kindof stuff they have.
Just stuff you would never thinkabout.
But, they have that there.
And, um, the food there.
So in Jambo house they have theMara, which is the quick
service.

(16:25):
You have to, I mean, they haveyour normal stuff.
They have flatbreads and chickenstrips and hamburgers, but.
They also have, you gotta be alittle adventurous to stay at
Animal Kingdom Lodge'causeyou're gonna get tired of
chicken strips every day ifyou're not adventurous.

joni (16:38):
Yeah, they have different styles of bowls that you can
get.
Um, and to a certain extent theycan be a little made to order.

nick (16:46):
Yeah, yeah.

joni (16:47):
You can omit or add things.
I know I did.

nick (16:51):
I did too.
And I remember the first bowl Ibought there.
I remember it.
it.
The first couple bites I tookjust'cause it had some
different, like African spices.
I guess

joni (17:00):
It

nick (17:01):
about two or three bites for my taste buds and then I
liked it.

joni (17:05):
Well, we better like it 'cause we're gonna, be there,
quite often, so,

nick (17:09):
but it's a big eating area.
It's a big restaurant.
Yeah.
They have all the desserts andstuff and it's right outside the
pool.
The pool of Jambo house is nice.
I think I liked the Kani onebetter.
I, I liked Kani overall.
Kanis pool was

joni (17:20):
Kanis pool was very nice.
Yeah.
And it.
was, um, it did seem a littlequieter Now that just Right.
Keep in mind that people thatare not DVC can also., Stay at
Kani.
Mm-hmm.
Because they can rent otherspoints.
Mm-hmm.
Correct.
Okay.
Because, I don't believeeveryone's staying.
Were DVC?

nick (17:40):
No, and you can even buy em, you can book it on Disney's
website too.
It's expensive.
'cause they, can use their ownpoints to rent out basically.
But yeah, not everybody.
There was DVC for sure.
think I liked Kani better.
Um, it doesn't have the wowfactor of John Bo house.
Obviously the lobby's reallysmall, but it's, it's very
intimate.

joni (18:00):
Yeah.
I su I suppose for that.
I mean, if you're, if you'regoing to, I'm, I'm the same.
I think I'm the same with that.
Yeah.
It, it seems longer, it seemslike it takes more effort, more
steps to get around jumbobecause it's so, so big.
But once you get past theinitial wow factor of it, the
hallways are the same at, atKani.

(18:21):
The rooms are slightlydifferent.
I think

nick (18:25):
they, were a little different.

joni (18:26):
Um, but we went from, which type of room did we have?
At Jambo?

nick (18:31):
At Jambo we had a, um, officially it was a resort room
resort view room, which means weshould have been looking at the
parking lot or the pool but weended up getting a partials of
Van V room because there, if youknow those people pens, they
have,

joni (18:48):
yeah.

nick (18:49):
So they have these people pens to where if there's a, if
there's an emergency and youneed to evacuate the building,
you have a space where humanscan be separated from the
animals.

joni (18:58):
Mm-hmm.
So

nick (18:59):
call em people pens, and there are these big circular
fenced in areas.
And if those are in your view atall, it's considered a resort, a
resort view.
And we had a.

joni (19:09):
we had, we could see the People pen, but we could see a
lot of animals as well.

nick (19:14):
I mean it was

joni (19:14):
I think at one time we counted like.
12 different types of birds.

nick (19:20):
Yeah,

joni (19:20):
The, remember the birds kept following and it was so
cute to watch the staff go outand feed'em Because they would
all come running and trottingand waddling and, and the staff
would just talk to'em like theywere human.
it was so cute.

nick (19:33):
Yeah.
And that we had a lot ofgiraffes in zebra.
On that Savannah

joni (19:37):
and there was wildebeest and

nick (19:39):
wildebeest,

joni (19:40):
Um, I think I would like.
to rotate around though, and,and stay at different ones.
Because I'm different Savannahs.
Yep.
Yeah.
there's the, because there'sseveral different Savannahs
that, that house severaldifferent animals because, you
know, in the wild certainanimals are never gonna come in
contact with other animals.
So they separate themaccordingly on these different

(20:01):
savannahs to, you know, make itseem as much in their natural
habitat as they possibly could.

nick (20:07):
And um, at Kani we did have a true Savannah view room
and, uh, we had a completelydifferent set of animals than we
did at John Bo house.

joni (20:16):
than mm-hmm.

nick (20:16):
Mm-hmm.
I mean, they do have the sameanimals, but our particular
Savannah we were on wasdifferent.
We had, uh, vultures.
Oh,

joni (20:23):
Yes.

nick (20:24):
p is that what they're called?

joni (20:25):
called?
Copies?
Mm-hmm.
Oh, copies.
They

nick (20:27):
like zebra horses.
Yeah.

joni (20:28):
They were.
I've never seen one They werereally cool

nick (20:30):
and there was a baby there.
Little one.
And uh, what was funny was thevultures were, uh, causing
trouble the entire time.
that they were chasing all theother birds and stuff.
Yep.

joni (20:43):
Yep.
They wanted to be perched up onthe, on the trees.

nick (20:46):
Turkey.
Yeah.
And we told the, uh,

joni (20:49):
told

nick (20:49):
of the guides that we said, oh, they were making us
laugh cause they were causing,or they were, you know, bullying
or whatever.
And he said, yeah, they alwayscause trouble.
So they kind of run thatSavannah.

joni (21:00):
but nevertheless, still fun to see.

nick (21:02):
Yeah.
And the food options at Kaniwas, uh, Ana, which we were
gonna, we had a reservation for,we ended up canceling it.

joni (21:10):
canceling.
We have yet to eat there and trythe bread service.
Please try the bread service.
Let us know what you think?

nick (21:16):
Yeah, that's, that's kind of what we wanted to go there
for.
And then, uh, they also havegco, so there's no quick service
at Kani, but, um.
In the morning, Sonata turnsinto a quick service breakfast,
so we ate there and it, it wasreally good.

joni (21:32):
Yeah, go hungry.
'cause there's a lot of food andyou're gonna wanna try lots if
not all of it.

nick (21:38):
and we didn't even talk about the best restaurant there,
forgot to talk about it, whichis boma.

joni (21:43):
talk.
Mm

nick (21:45):
How'd we miss that?

joni (21:46):
dunno.

nick (21:48):
Me and my food, and I missed that somehow.

joni (21:51):
I don't know.
Boma is delicious.
Boma is.
very delicious.
So

nick (21:54):
So if you get a chance to stay at the Animal Kingdom
Lodge, um, I suggest you do it.
Like I said, that's, that's ourhome resorts.
We're gonna be spending a lot oftime there when we go there.
We're gonna check out otherresorts too.
Like, um, when we go, we have atrip planned in December.
We're gonna do one night at BayLake Tower because, uh, we were
lucky enough to find a

joni (22:12):
theme

nick (22:13):
park view room just for one night.
So we're just going there justfor that.

joni (22:16):
We wanna see the fireworks from the room and see how, what
the, what the hype is.

nick (22:22):
Yep.
So we're gonna go there onenight and uh, head over to
Animal Kingdom Lodge.
So that's our, that's our planfor December.

joni (22:30):
up.
And don't forget the enormousheaddress, which you cannot
miss, that is in the lobby at,uh, Jambo.
That actually, um, isconstructed of two pieces.
It's an actual headdress or, um,headgear of some sort that, An
individual is selected to wearit and perform skills to be a

(22:56):
known elite.
Right.
Or for lack of better words intheir community.
And it is about 240 pounds.

nick (23:07):
So when you say giant, this thing is,

joni (23:09):
massive.

nick (23:10):
yeah.
When you think about the humanhead in

joni (23:13):
think this, this thing is 16 feet.
in height.
And weighs 240 pounds and it's,um, constructed a very bright,
vivid colors.
Um, well with some blacks andyellows and reds and all
handmade things that havedifferent ornamentals.
Um.
Implemented into it, you know, for the African culture, for

(23:36):
their beliefs in differentanimals, bringing different
strengths and things like that.
Anyway, you can't miss it.
can't miss it.
It's enormous.
huge.
And, uh, there's plaques allaround it that give a little bit
more insight and information onit.
But, um, like I said, you canjust plan a whole day at these
resorts and

nick (23:53):
yeah, and I think Animal Kingdom is, if you want to have
a rest day, you're not going toa park.
It's a perfect place to gobecause, there's animals there,
especially with kids.

joni (24:02):
and if you still wanna get your steps in, you can get'em
in.
If you want to venture aroundand look at all the artifacts
they have, they have over 500,African artifacts.
Yeah.

nick (24:11):
And then, yeah, you can just walk up and down the halls,
like especially at Kani, likeyou start at the end of the hall
and be to the lobby in about twoand a half hours.
So,

joni (24:21):
and then work your way back on a different floor.
Yeah.

nick (24:23):
So for our spotlight on attraction, and this was not
done on purpose, but I thinkwe're just gonna

joni (24:30):
we'll just do

nick (24:30):
it anyways.
Um, we did the people mover, didthe Astro Orbiter.

joni (24:35):
and

nick (24:36):
had no intentions on doing one land in each park, but since
we've done two in tomorrow land,we're just gonna knock out
tomorrow land.
Yeah,

joni (24:45):
we thought of the bouncing around, but yeah, we'll just,

nick (24:48):
I have no idea how that happened, but it happened.
So

joni (24:51):
That's okay.
We're gonna cover all of'em.
So

nick (24:53):
Yeah.
Uh, we're gonna do, today we'redoing buzz light year space
Ranger spin.
And on Disney's website, thissays, fire your laser to earn
points and defeat the evilemperor zurg as you journey
through a galactic space battle.

joni (25:09):
Any

nick (25:09):
hype,

joni (25:10):
all

nick (25:11):
ages, a slow ride spinning and attraction photography.
So there is an action photo onthis.

joni (25:18):
is a dark indoor, also

nick (25:20):
dark indoor, um, and then also says this is kind of the
description on the Disney Worldwebsite.
Not today, zer.
Buzz light years arms, or excuseme, buzz light years arch ness
from Toy Story two is stealingbatteries from helpless toys to
power a new weapon ofdestruction.
Become a junior space ranger andhelp to stop Zer.

(25:40):
Board your XP 37 star cruiserand voyage deep into the gamma
quadrant where you'll take aimat the glowing Z targets with
your infrared laser cannons.
Use your cruiser's joystick tospin full 360 degrees so you can
blast all the targets in sight.

joni (25:55):
you

nick (25:55):
have what it takes to stop Zer in his rampaging robot army?
Before it's too late, the fateof the universe is in your
hands.
So that's Disney's, Descriptionof it.
It does say no before you goBuzz light.
Your space Ranger spin is adark, slow, moving and suitable

joni (26:10):
And when we, when and when we say dark, we don't mean pitch
dark.
It's got like the neon glows.
Yeah, so the littles I thinkwould still enjoy it.
um, especially knowing thecharacters and whatnot.
But You do spin from one side toanother, to try to get your
targets.
So for those who might have, youknow, um, some sort of.

(26:32):
vertigo or dizziness, um, mightnot be the best ride, but, and
you can see I don't know ifyou've already said this, it's,
um, two guns.
Yes.
But Disney also said two tothree riders.
So that probably means

nick (26:46):
a toddler or something sitting between you.

joni (26:48):
probably like a little on your lap.
or, or something like that.
Um.
Is

nick (26:52):
not getting my gun.

joni (26:54):
You would give it to your grand?
if they wanted it.
Not if

nick (26:58):
in the cart.
'cause I don't

joni (26:59):
think I,

nick (26:59):
I'm terrible at buzz light year and I don't think I've ever
beat you.

joni (27:02):
Oh, well it's never gonna happen.
So let's just move

nick (27:05):
kids gotta go.
He is not

joni (27:07):
Let's just move along.
So anyway, um, it's also.
It says a four to five minuteride.
And I don't know if youmentioned the, opening day for
the opening day and year mightbe kind of interesting to know.

nick (27:19):
What was that?

joni (27:20):
That was, uh, November 3rd, 1998.

nick (27:24):
really?
Yeah.

joni (27:24):
Yep.
So it's almost, almost, what, 30years?
It's almost 30 years.
27.

nick (27:33):
Yeah.

joni (27:33):
27 years.

nick (27:34):
Wow.
Has Toy Story been out that

joni (27:36):
Wow.
I don't even wanna talk about,it's crazy.
I don't even wanna talk aboutit.
And it's still a, it's still a,uh.
A very interesting movie for,for the kids.
They love it.
And toys are still coming out.
Yeah,

nick (27:48):
there's a new one coming out.
Yeah.
Toy Story five.
Yep.
But did you know this was anoriginal ride?
It was if you had wings and thenDelta Dream Flight and later
Take flight was all done in thatbuilding.
It was a, uh, a Delta Airlinesponsored ride.

joni (28:05):
Which

nick (28:06):
I have, and I don't know where this came from.
And when we started, when Istarted reading about this, I
have a vision.
My first time at Disney World, Ithink I was 10, my dad took us,

joni (28:17):
I have

nick (28:17):
a vision of being on a ride and I thought it was an
Epcot where you're in a, um,you're in a, like a cart and
you're in the, you're movingforward and it looks like you're
in a plane.
There's this big oval screenaround you, and I think that's.
The last room in Buzz light yearright before you exit.

(28:39):
It has to be,

joni (28:40):
Hmm.

nick (28:41):
I'd never thought about that before this, cause I always
had that picture in my mind ofthat, and I didn't know where it
came from.
But obvi, I think it wasapparently, uh, the Delta
sponsored ride back in theeighties at Magic Kingdom.

joni (28:52):
Still having it in your dreams.

nick (28:54):
Still in my

joni (28:54):
dreams.

nick (28:56):
So the attraction uses backlight scenes animatronics
and neon props to create astylized retro sci-fi world.
It's full of fun details likeGiant Battery Powering a Robot,
or Aliens with oversized Rayguns.
It's a blend of Toy Story CharClassic Tomorrow Land.
So the point of buzz light yearis.

(29:18):
You have two guns in each rideand you, you compete against
each other, shooting targetsthrough it.
Now, however, there is a way tobecome a galactic hero.
Do you know how many points youneed to become a galactic hero?

joni (29:30):
I do, I do

nick (29:32):
How many?

joni (29:33):
999,999.

nick (29:37):
But that's a lot of points.
That

joni (29:38):
a lot of points.
But We have, we have tips.
oh, we have tips.
We have tips.
Yes.

nick (29:43):
Share your tips,

joni (29:44):
I'm not.
gonna share all of them.
I'll share a couple.
So, um, when you first get inRoom one There's not any extra
bonus.
I mean, you'll collect points,but there's not the bonus
points.
And by bonus I mean a hundredthousand

nick (30:00):
for one.
Target

joni (30:01):
for one target.
For one target.
So, um, in room one, just hitwhat you want.
room two there are two targetsin room two.

nick (30:12):
two bonus targets.

joni (30:13):
bonus targets.
Yes, there's lots of othertargets, but the two bonus
targets, I'll Give you.
one, you have to find the other.
So the first one that I'm gonna, the one that I'm gonna share in
room two is to the left, is anorange robot.
And you wanna shoot on theinside of his left arm or left

(30:36):
hand.
You hit that a hundred thousandpoints.
And like I Said there's.
two in there though, but that's,that's a freebie.
You gotta find the other one, then you're gonna travel into a
little further.
And, there is actually on thevolcano, one of the volcanoes,

(30:56):
has one, I'll just say it's, uh,near the top.
And then of course, everyoneknows that RG has.
A hundred thousand point targeton him as well.
And it also, if you wanna have abuddy system going with this,
you can have your partners driveand spin while you shoot.

(31:16):
And another thing is, if you aresitting, if you're alone, if you
decide to do this ride alone andyou max out your gun, you can
hurry up and try to switch overto the other seat and max out
and you can do a double max out.
So

nick (31:29):
you got two

joni (31:30):
you got two guns.
you can be a.

nick (31:31):
You're like a gun

joni (31:32):
That's right.
Clint Eastwood.
That's right.
A super duper Galactic hero,

nick (31:36):
Eastwood in space.

joni (31:37):
That's right.
So 999,999 is what we're lookingfor, guys.
Oh, and the one last, thing I'lllet you know is too, so in the
final.
room, That's when you wanna puton your Pretty smile.
And show your pearly whitesbecause you will have your photo
taken.

nick (31:54):
you know what's funny So all the pictures we've gotten on
buzz light year, and we'vegotten some, you know, the, the
photos, sometimes you get otherpeople's photos in your, your
account.
Every photo I've seen of buzzlight year, the concentration
level of people in

joni (32:08):
would be hilarious.
Oh yeah, Oh yeah.

nick (32:09):
it's hilarious.
It's because you're just, you'rejust focused.
Nothing else.
You're shooting targets

joni (32:15):
don't even, well, and you know, and I say put on the
pearly whites, but I'm sureeverybody will be, you know,
focused,

nick (32:24):
So it's coming to light a little bit.
Why I am so terrible at BuzzLightyear

joni (32:28):
He's hitting the wrong targets.
I'm hitting

nick (32:29):
wrong target.
I'm just shooting at anythingthat's coming in front of me.
You have a

joni (32:32):
Oh man.
I should have shared my tips.

nick (32:35):
It's gonna make it a whole different game

joni (32:37):
a team effort.
it's a team

nick (32:40):
It's a competition.
It's

joni (32:41):
okay.
Well, you still don't know wherethe other one's at

nick (32:44):
you like, uh, buzz Lightyear or Toy Story Mania?
Better?

joni (32:48):
I think that I am Seemingly better at Buzz
Lightyear Spin.

nick (32:55):
wonder why,

joni (32:56):
but

nick (32:57):
aesthetically

joni (32:58):
and.
because it doesn't spin, I likeToy Story mania, But I'm not as
good at that one.

nick (33:06):
You don't have to read up about, about, uh, hidden targets
in Toy Story

joni (33:09):
Romania.
I know that's right.

nick (33:11):
I think I agree with you.
I think I like Toy Story maniabetter, but uh,

joni (33:15):
it's kind of got a carnival aspect.
to it.

nick (33:18):
Carnival.
The only thing I don't likeabout it is your arm is dead by
the

joni (33:23):
time That's true.
Absolutely.
I

nick (33:26):
it doesn't have the shoot system.
I mean, you're shooting a gun,but you're pulling a

joni (33:29):
Yeah.
You're pulling a stringconstantly to Yeah.
To shoot.
And You know, a lot of times theballs kind of lob out there, so
you gotta aim a little bithigher.
So I'm not as well, I do enjoythat one.
a little more so I think.
But,

nick (33:43):
And it's newer.
I mean, it's, you know, it's gotnewer technology and it's
updated,

joni (33:47):
sure.

nick (33:48):
but yeah,

joni (33:48):
and you wear, you wear 3D glasses with that,

nick (33:52):
with what?
Oh yeah.
You do wear, oh, you do, don't

joni (33:53):
And, um, so it's.
it's, I don't know, I just thinkit's more eye appealing and.

nick (34:00):
I

joni (34:00):
The graphics are super cool.

nick (34:03):
like I said, just your arm is so tired when you get

joni (34:06):
It is.
You gotta learn how to use both

nick (34:08):
in that aspect, buzzes better'cause you're just hitting
a button over and over and overand over again.

joni (34:14):
which can Still work The arm muscles

nick (34:17):
well that's gonna do it for a spotlight on attraction, I
think.
And I think we're just gonna goahead and knock out tomorrow,
Ann, and in the next few weeks.
So this week's tip or trick, Ithink, um, I was thinking about
this, and this has to do withthe fireworks.
If you stay to watch fireworks, which I'm guessing 90% of the

(34:39):
crowd does, guess what happenswhen the fireworks are over?
Everybody tries to leave thepark at once.
So

joni (34:47):
So

nick (34:47):
tip of the week is to not leave.
Magic Kingdom right after thefireworks.
Go ride a ride, go shopping, just walk around, enjoy the
park.
The park's very beautiful atnight.

joni (35:02):
it?
Every single land

nick (35:04):
Yeah.
Every single land, becausegetting out of there right after
fireworks is, is it's a zoo.
Mm-hmm.

joni (35:10):
well, your bottlenecked at the gates.
Then when you get to your trans, your mode of transportation,
whether it's an Uber, you'restanding there forever.
If the buses are just.
You could be, you could be twobuses deep by the time you get
there.
And if, um, you know, if you'vegot littles that are Needing to
go that's fine.

(35:30):
And there's another tip forthat, that if you have littles,
that you, you are wanting toleave after fireworks, I would
suggest getting as close to theend of Main Street by the gates
as you can.
So you are one of the firstpeoples out.
And then That way too.
I mean, you're not right up, youcan still hear the music because
it pumps through, but the sideshows that come across the

(35:53):
building fronts is just, it'sreally cool.
yeah,

nick (35:59):
projections, they do the projections not only on the
castle, but um, they do it onall the buildings on Main Street
too, so.
Yeah, if you've never done that, actually just do that.

joni (36:09):
Yeah, we've done, we've done both.

nick (36:11):
Yeah.
I like both.
I like being up, you know?
Yeah.
By Walton Mickey, kind of rightbehind Walton Mickey statue, and
then at Down Main Street a

joni (36:19):
Yeah.
Just pay attention to the kindof day you're having and you
know, the group of people thatyou're with.
If you have littles or you know, people that, um, you know,
played hard all day.
that need, that are gonna needto be going.
Um, just be mindful of that, that if you are Midway.
Up toward the castle and you tryto get out, you're gonna be

(36:41):
waiting a considerable amount oftime for your transportation.
Yep.
Even if you drove becauseGetting outta the parking lot's
gonna be,

nick (36:49):
You gotta take the monorail over to the, uh, TTC.
Yes.
And the monorails are backed up.

joni (36:53):
Yes.
they are.

nick (36:54):
So, yeah, do some shopping.
Ride a ride.
Get an ice cream, do something,

joni (36:59):
or go early if you need.
to.
Stay, Stay toward the, staytoward the front and be one of
the first ones out.
Just,

nick (37:07):
Good tips.

joni (37:09):
