Nick (00:07):
Hello everybody.
Welcome to this week's episodeof the Main Street Talk podcast,
your go-to podcast foreverything Walt Disney World
related, the news, the updates, the tips, the tricks, the
closures, the construction, everything Walt Disney World
related.
My name is Nick.
With me is Joanie, as always.

Joni (00:29):
Hi everyone.

Nick (00:31):
So, they

Joni (00:31):
finally turned my mic on.

Nick (00:33):
I did.
I've been having, uh, the lastfew weeks we've had to do some
retakes because at the beginningI have her mic mute muted
because our, uh, podcaster hereseems to do better when one mic
is muted at the beginningbecause it kind of
differentiates between the twoof us.
And I have been forgetting tounmute her.
So we have to do retakes, so.

Joni (00:54):
If only there was an actual one for real life, huh?

Nick (00:57):
Yeah.
Okay.

Joni (00:59):
Oh, hey.
That was a trap.
and you fell right into it.
into it.

Nick (01:03):
it.
So this week's a littledifferent.
We are recording very early.
We're recording on Thursday,July 10th, as

Joni (01:10):
as opposed to

Nick (01:11):
usually we record on Saturdays.
Yeah.
Saturday or Sunday.
So, um, all the news is gonna becurrent through Thursday.
So if anything big happens overthe weekend, I apologize, we
will catch up to it with nextweek's episode.
But, uh, we are going outta townthis weekend to visit family in
the Chicago area, so, uh, we'renot gonna be home Saturday or,

(01:32):
or Sunday.
So we're recording a littleearly, but, uh,

Joni (01:35):
lots to share, lots

Nick (01:36):
to share and we will catch up next week.
Like I said, if anything bighappens over the weekend, um,
we'll definitely, we're gonna besitting outside in the sun
watching softball games.
Yeah.
All day this weekend.
Yep.
so I guess we'll just get rightinto it.
How festive do you feel rightnow?

Joni (01:51):
How festive do I feel?
Well, considering it's Between85 and 90 degrees outside?
not very,

Nick (01:57):
yeah.
You know what?
There is, there is a localbrewery here, actually back in
my, uh, back in my, my daysthat, they make a Christmas
beer, actually, it's calledJingle Jingle Java, and

Joni (02:11):
it's a very thick, like lagger

Nick (02:13):
coffee stout.
I think it's in July.
I don't know.
I haven't, you

Joni (02:17):
A Christmas in July, Christmas

Nick (02:18):
in July, they would release a batch of the jingle
Java.

Joni (02:21):
Yeah.
I never did like it.

Nick (02:23):
I used to like it back in my day.
but how festival are you feelingnow?

Joni (02:27):
How fest?
Well, you know, I am one that, and Nick can, uh, vouch for
this.
I leave a tree up year round.

Nick (02:34):
That is true.

Joni (02:35):
our living room.
And I decorate it.
This is the first year I've doneit.
I just didn't take it down afterChristmas.
And then January, it gotsnowflakes on it in February, it
got hearts on it.
and March it got shamrocks.
So with every month it's just atall, slender pencil tree.
And, so right now it's, gotflags and

Nick (02:55):
Sam hats.

Joni (02:56):
It's Uncle Sam hats and, and flags and little firework,
pompoms on it.
And uh, it's cute.
So I suppose I'm always festive.

Nick (03:07):
Well, you're gonna be much more festive.
Oh yeah.
After today.
Okay.
I don't tell a lot of, I don'ttell Joni a lot of what we're
gonna

Joni (03:12):
about.
I have no idea

Nick (03:13):
what I'm gonna talk about on

Joni (03:14):
Except our rides.

Nick (03:15):
Except the rides.
We, we coordinate some thingstogether, but Disney dropped a
ton of holiday news over the

Joni (03:22):
Wait, are we talking holiday first?
or Are we gonna go into parksFirst, what are we doing?

Nick (03:25):
gonna do holidays, because holidays is most of the news
this week.
Okay.
Like, you know, and it's onlyThursday, so,

Joni (03:31):
switching it up on me.
Usually we Start with MagicKingdom.

Nick (03:33):
We do start, but Yeah.
But

Joni (03:35):
that's let's like cake and butter.
Bread and butter rather,

Nick (03:38):
bulk of, of the, um, the talk with Disney

Joni (03:41):
Okay.

Nick (03:42):
This, first piece of information has me a little
confused.
Maybe I didn't look far enoughinto it, but, so Disney
announced that the holidays thisyear would be from November
14th.
Through December 31st.
Okay.
Now, the reason that confuses mea little bit is because in all
the years

Joni (04:01):
on.
Can I back you up?
I'm, I apologize.
We're talking Christmas.
Christmas, holidays.
Yeah.
Okay.
When you said holiday, I wasincluding not so scary is in
there also.
No, we're

Nick (04:11):
no.
They already announced all

Joni (04:13):
Christmas

Nick (04:13):
talking.
We're talking.
Yeah.

Joni (04:15):
Okay.
Christmas.
stuff.
I was like, wait a minute.
Those dates.
Just are not jiving with, yeah.
Okay.
Go.
proceed please.
So

Nick (04:21):
they announced November 14th through December 31st.
Now, the reason I'm a littleconfused is because in years
past, most years past MagicKingdom especially transformed
from Halloween to Christmasovernight after the last not so
scary party, which was usuallyHalloween.
I think sometimes they would doit on November 1st.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but,but yeah.

(04:43):
And they announced November 14ththrough December 31st.

Joni (04:46):
well, Now it's November 14th.

Nick (04:48):
Yeah.
So it, what's going on?
I, I don't know.
I didn't, I didn't really lookinto if that meant Halloween or
not.
That remains to be seen.

Joni (04:58):
So you're thinking they might extend Halloween?

Nick (05:00):
No.
I'm thinking they might take abreak between Halloween and
November 14th.
I.
Dunno,

Joni (05:04):
Well, maybe they'll go around to the hotels and get all
the trees up.
So next time we're there, we cansee our tree.
Yeah,

Nick (05:09):
that could be it.
We just missed our tree by dayslast when Yeah.
We were at Animal Kingdom.
They did announce some holidaystuff.
They announced that they teasedrather that gingerbread displays
will be up again at resorts.
Okay.
They didn't say which ones, butwe do know that the Graham
Floridian, the big gingerbreadhouse will not be.

(05:30):
In 2025 because of therefurbishment that's going on
there.
So the big one will not bethere.

Joni (05:36):
Okay.

Nick (05:37):
So stay tuned for what they announce for gingerbread.
I'm assuming all the regularones will still be there, but
like I said, they haven'tannounced it.

Joni (05:47):
When you mean regular,

Nick (05:48):
you'd like the carousel and I think that was at
Boardwalk.
And then, the, what was theCinderella Castle at
Contemporary?
The animals, the animal kingdomlodge.
So, but that remains to be seen.
We'll, we'll, we're definitelygonna stay on

Joni (06:02):
yet to see the carousel and the animals.
at Animal Kingdom because We'vemissed those.
also.

Nick (06:08):
just missed them.

Joni (06:09):
We did get to see the gingerbread house and the
castle.
And they list the ingredients onthat castle, like how much flour
they use.
and How much of everything theyuse it's an ungodly ridiculous
amount of ingredients.
For that.

Nick (06:24):
Yeah.
And when you walk into the GrandFloridian, it just smells
amazing.
Yeah.
And I don't, I'm not even a hugegingerbread fan, but it just, it
smells amazing.
Amazing.
Yeah.

Joni (06:31):
Yeah.

Nick (06:32):
So along with the holidays obviously comes the Mickey's
very Merry Christmas party.
So they have announced it willbe running from November 7th to
December 31st.
The dates in November are theseventh, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th,
16th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 25th,26th, 28th, and 30th.

(06:53):
In December, it's gonna be thesecond, fourth, fifth, seventh,
ninth, 11th, 12th, 14th, 16,

Joni (06:59):
we're done.
21.
Okay.

Nick (07:01):
This will be posted on our blog.

Joni (07:03):
I hope so.

Nick (07:04):
So, but this

Joni (07:06):
head is spinning, right?
now.

Nick (07:07):
I know I, there's a lot of dates, but we're gonna post this
on our blog for sure.
The party begins at 7:00 PM butticket holders can enter at 4:00
PM now.
Tickets go on sale for guests.
Staying at Disney World Resorts,Walt Disney World and Swan and
Dolphin and Shades of Green onJuly 16th.
Tickets will be available to allother guests starting on July

(07:30):
22nd.
Now as far as ticket pricinggoes, um, it's, it's the usual
format.
The earlier parties, so youknow, the earlier November dates
will be cheaper than the datesget leading up to Christmas.
There was, from what I saw, a$10increase from the most expensive
ticket from last year to thisyear.

(07:50):
Disney also confirmed thatduring the holiday season, the
Starlight prayed will continue.
Except at the very merryChristmas party.
'cause they have the, you know, they have the Christmas parade,
so the Starlight Parade will notbe going through the Christmas
party.

Joni (08:08):
Okay.

Nick (08:09):
Oh, I thought you were gonna say something.

Joni (08:10):
well, I was, but if you have anything else to add, I,

Nick (08:12):
no, go ahead.
I'm gonna move on to somethingelse.
Interject

Joni (08:15):
here and ask, in your opinion, we've seen, pretty
recently and very close.
Together in proximity oftime-wise, both the Halloween
Parade and the Christmas parade.
Which one?
And Now?
Nick is a, nick is big onHalloween.

Nick (08:32):
I am.
It's my favorite holiday.

Joni (08:34):
Which parade did you think was

Nick (08:36):
I'm gonna even go a step further.
Okay.
Halloween is my favoriteholiday.
Okay.
You know that I love watchinghorror movies.

Joni (08:43):
our yard in the

Nick (08:44):
Yes.
We have a very blow up.
Yes.
Now.
With that being said, theHalloween party, in my opinion
for me, was a one and done.
Okay.
I liked it.
I liked it a lot.
I'm glad I went.

Joni (08:57):
Mm-hmm.
I,

Nick (08:58):
I thought the Christmas, I had more fun at the Christmas
party,

Joni (09:01):
with

Nick (09:02):
exception of the parade.
The booty you parade is amazing.
Yeah, it's absolutely great.
But overall as a party, I wouldrather go to the Christmas
party.

Joni (09:11):
s Okay.
But the parade, you.

Nick (09:14):
the parade, the parade was fantastic.
The booty you prayed has isbetter than the Christmas
parade, in my opinion.

Joni (09:20):
I liked a lot.
Those uh, grave diggers, youknow,

Nick (09:23):
diggers are cool.
Yep.

Joni (09:24):
their, um, shovels on the concrete,

Nick (09:27):
all the villains.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's a, it's a great parade.
It,

Joni (09:31):
we're really gonna love villains land.
when it comes.
We're gonna love villains landwhen it Oh, I know.

Nick (09:35):
know.
We're gonna love it.
And you know, the, I think the, what sets the tone for that
parade I think is so cool as theheadless horseman.

Joni (09:42):
Oh yeah.
he comes, down he way ahead ofthe Yeah.
Like five, 10 minutes before theparade.
comes.
he

Nick (09:47):
sets the whole tone.
Yeah.
It's so cool.
But yeah, but that being said,

Joni (09:50):
can hear him clapping.

Nick (09:52):
yeah.
You can hear'em.
And they put horseshoes on them,so, but yeah, I would rather do
the Christmas party than the,the Halloween party.
Nothing is only, I liked it.

Joni (10:01):
Well, I mean, I was, I was generally speaking as far as
like the parades is concernedbecause we have another one that
we're going to be able to, havea ranking on, a personal opinion
ranking on that when they do theStarlight Parade.

Nick (10:14):
yeah.

Joni (10:14):
Oh yeah.
So,

Nick (10:15):
yeah.
And, uh, we're, we're gonna bethere in December again this
year.
Um, so we're, we're gonna try tocheck out all the gingerbreads.
You know, and stuff.
'cause we don't have a whole lotof plans that we we're just
going to kind of go hang

Joni (10:28):
We're actually two time in Disney.
and We're gonna go to Universal

Nick (10:31):
We're going to the other park.
Don't tell

Joni (10:35):
That's okay.
We're not sponsored by Disney.
So we don't care.
We don't care if they know,

Nick (10:39):
but I,

Joni (10:40):
we still love you Mickey.

Nick (10:41):
I don't see us being in Orlando and not hitting a Disney
Park at least one day.

Joni (10:45):
already talked about.
going to at least Maybe AnimalKingdom.
Yeah.

Nick (10:48):
Lemme do

Joni (10:49):
we'll be at that resort.

Nick (10:51):
So,

Joni (10:51):
are, we are using, we are doing a stay K at Animal
Kingdom.
but we're just gonna visit overto Universal in any case.
So,

Nick (11:00):
Where we're, oh, Christmas.
Yes.
Christmas in, in Disney.
Joll Wood Knights has beenannounced again this year.
It's ranging from November 8ththrough December 22nd.

Joni (11:10):
don't read.
dates.

Nick (11:11):
What

Joni (11:11):
are you gonna read?
Dates?

Nick (11:12):
I am gonna read dates, but it's a lot less.

Joni (11:14):
Oh boy.
Okay, so,

Nick (11:16):
so it's from November 8th to, um, December 22nd.
There are only 13 dates total.
So the dates are November 8th,15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th.
December 1st, sixth, 10th, 13th,17th, 20th, and 22nd.
That's it.
That's it for those days.
This will be up on our blog aswell.

Joni (11:36):
Yep.
so I guess I don't remember thembeing a lot less in quantity

Nick (11:45):
of the Hollywood Knights.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There was quite a few less than

Joni (11:49):
Even when we went

Nick (11:49):
than Merry Chris then, Mickey's very merry Christmas
party.
Yeah, I

Joni (11:52):
I guess I, just didn't pay attention.
It's still fun though.

Nick (11:55):
I thought Jolly night.
I thought that was a lot of

Joni (11:57):
Yeah, that was a lot of fun.

Nick (11:59):
The only thing different this year is you'll be able to
start entering at five 30.
party begins at seven 30 lastyear.
They didn't let you in until sixand the party goes till 12:30 AM
and again, for Disney WorldResort guests, Swan and Dolphin
guests and shades of greenguests will be able to buy
tickets on July 16th.
And on July 22nd, tickets willgo on sale to the other guests.

(12:21):
But yeah, Dollywood Knights, Iknow the last year was a buy

Joni (12:24):
in July for the parties.
Yeah.
Okay.
So that's why.
Okay.

Nick (12:27):
Yeah.
Last year was Hollywood Night'ssecond year.
Mm-hmm.

Joni (12:31):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (12:31):
And they had a lot of problems the first year.
Right.
I remember watching a lot ofloggers.
Um, they just Right.
Did not have things organized.
I think they got it better bythe end.
Well,

Joni (12:40):
you know, you learn from your mistakes and Right.

Nick (12:42):
mistakes, right.
But last year, Joni and I went,it was, it was absolutely
amazing.

Joni (12:45):
Yeah.
It was seamless.

Nick (12:46):
It was seamless.
We had a, such a good time.
Yeah.
If you have a chance to go tothat, I know it's only five
hours and you know, it's kind ofpricey, but it, it's, there's a
lot to do.

Joni (12:55):
Which one did we go to where we sat in the theater.

Nick (12:59):
Is that, oh, that was, that was Jolly Knights when, the
Muppets and Kermit and MissPiggy came out.
And Mickey, yeah.
Yep.
That's the big, that's thebeauty in the Beast Theater.

Joni (13:06):
Yes.
Okay.
Yeah.

Nick (13:09):
But we did do a lot of rides.
We got on a lot of

Joni (13:11):
Yeah.
We were able to get a lot.
of those knocked out.
So

Nick (13:14):
we had now ice skating.

Joni (13:15):
If you guys haven't picked it up yet, I am like kind of
somewhat directionallychallenged.
I'm very organized, but, um,Nick, has, Nick has to be my
navigator for me a lot and, um,'cause I can literally get lost
going to the local Mexicanstore, to,

Nick (13:32):
the grocery store.
There is a Mexican grocery storedowntown that we've been to
several times and she does, still doesn't know how to get

Joni (13:39):
And at, at.
our old, where We used to live,it was literally what, seven,
eight blocks?
away from the house, but

Nick (13:44):
less than a five minute drive.
And,

Joni (13:45):
And, but there were one ways and this and that, and I
could never figure out whichstreet I was supposed to turn
down.
It was just, it was ridiculous.
It was absolutely ridiculous.
So, in any case, a little, little, tidbit on me.

Nick (13:57):
And at Epcot, the 2025 Epcot Festival of the Holidays
begins on November 28th.
The day after Thanksgiving andruns through December 30th.
I have one last thing about theholidays guest visiting the Walt
Disney.
This actually started today onJuly 10th.
Disney's running a promotion.
You can save up to 20% on hotelrooms at select Disney resorts,

(14:20):
and as well have the opportunityto get a$100 dining and shopping
card.
So the shopping card, you haveto buy a resort package with at
least a four day ticket package.
The hotels are values, I believeare 10% discount moderates or
15% discount.
And deluxe are 20% discounts.

(14:42):
And these are for, Sundaythrough Thursday from October
12th through November 20th, aswell as nights from November
23rd through December 25th.
So basically it's starts onOctober 12th, goes through the
Thanksgiving time, pauses duringthe Thanksgiving time, and then
picks up after Thanksgiving.

Joni (15:01):
So when you're saying that you have to book uh, a minimum
for, for

Nick (15:07):
to get the dining card?
Yes.
Okay.

Joni (15:10):
Does that also qualify for DVC members cash?
or is

Nick (15:14):
This is for cash days.
Yep.
This is a cash incentive?
Yep.
Okay.
A cash stay.
Okay.
Um, unfortunately, DVC we don'tget the, the free dining
packages or anything like that.
'cause that's for the cost isburied in the cash stay, you

Joni (15:28):
Well there's, dis there's other, discounts are here and
there for having, being a DVCmember.
Yep.
Discounts on snacks And, foodsand stuff, so, okay, well good.

Nick (15:38):
if you wanna take advantage of that, you can
always contact me.
I can book that vacation foryou.
I am an affiliate of AcademyTravel.
My services are free.
Nick dot Garcia at AcademyTravel, or just go on the main
Street Talk pod website andclick the free quote button and
that'll come right to me.
If you're interested, I can hookyou up with that deal.
That's it for holiday.
I told you holidays were kickingoff.

(16:00):
So,

Joni (16:00):
so with that, is there any monies down on that booking
through you?
Is it what the 10%, 20% or

Nick (16:08):
it's the, the normal deposit, which is$200.
200?
Yep.
Okay.
And then you can, I, payment isdue 30 days prior to arrival.
Okay.
Or the, you know, the payoffamount.

Joni (16:18):
Okay.

Nick (16:19):
So that's it for the holidays.
Lot, lots of stuff.
There was a lot more detail togo into, but we could have made
this a three hour show if wewere gonna be talking

Joni (16:28):
Well, and you know, we're six months out from the holiday,
we'll have plenty of times asyou know,

Nick (16:33):
And Disney is ever changing, ever evolving and
changing things.
So, but for sure, we'll let youknow where the gingerbread
displays are gonna be up.
Yeah.
When they announce that.
Yeah.

Joni (16:43):
announce.
Yeah.

Nick (16:44):
And sadly we're going over to Magic Kingdom where it was
Chewy.
The end of an era.
On July 6th at 8:42 PM theLiberty Bell took its final lap
in the rivers of America.
It returned to the dock ataround 8 59 and was permanently
closed

Joni (17:03):
Was it, Was it occupied with guests on

Nick (17:05):
it?
was occupied with guests,,during

Joni (17:07):
if they did like A solo somber kind of.

Nick (17:10):
No cast members were, and I, I don't, I think this is how
it went.
They were giving out wristbandsfor people on the last ride,
like they were dedicated to thelast ride.
I think that's how it went down.
But cast members were

Joni (17:22):
make me cry,

Nick (17:23):
They were definitely given out wristbands.
Oh,

Joni (17:26):
Okay,

Nick (17:26):
okay.
So a little bit of history onthat.
Rivers America was present whenthe Magic Kingdom opened in
1971.
The riverboat began operating in1971 and Tom Sawer Island opened
in 1973.
Now, as with every era, if youlooked on the Mind Disney
Experience app the following dayon July 7th, it was gone from

(17:47):
the map,

Joni (17:49):
updated that quickly.
They

Nick (17:51):
updated that quickly, and.
The one thing when I was lookingat the app and saw that the
rivers was gone on the app,

Joni (18:01):
a big space.

Nick (18:02):
Do you, I never realized on the map how long of a walk it
is from the Haunted Mansion toBig Thunder.
I.
You can really see it now thatthe river's gone and it's just
green with grass.
You're like, oh my Lord.
Yeah.
That's a long walk.

Joni (18:15):
Yeah, it's a big area that's, that's no longer filled,
in,

Nick (18:19):
like cars lands comes in that area.
Walking from haunted mansion toBig Thunder is gonna be a, if
you can't walk through carsland, which it looks like you
will be able to, it's going to.
Save a ton of time.

Joni (18:30):
Oh, they have to be able to let you through there.
There's always kind of shortcutsand Things like that.
Um,

Nick (18:35):
But yeah, that walk just looks long.
I guess.
You don't realize it'causeyou're walking by the,

Joni (18:39):
Well, and there's

Nick (18:40):
a big horseshoe.

Joni (18:41):
Well, there's always something to do.
Yeah.
something to Look at, You canstop here and grab a snack.
You can stop here on this ride.
or, you know, Guess

Nick (18:48):
this, I don't know if this is magic.
I'm gonna put it in MagicKingdom.
I'm gonna group this with MagicKingdom, but beginning on July
17th, both Disney World andDisneyland will debut an updated
final scene, and it's a smallworld.
This is featuring a brand newverse written by the late
Richard Sherman, of course, ofthe Sherman brothers, who wrote
a lot of Disney's music.
Yep.
So the Sherman Brothers wrotethe original song in 1963, and

(19:11):
he penned this final verse as apersonal parting gift to Disney
before his passing, according tohis son.
The new lyrics reflect theattractions enduring message of
unity and shared humanity.
Do you wanna hear the verse?
Yeah, now imagine this, and it'sa small world tomb.
Mother Earth unites us in heartand mind, and the love we give

(19:32):
makes us humankind through ourvast, wondrous land when we
stand hand in hand.
It's a small world after all.
It gives you goosebumps, isn't

Joni (19:41):
sure does.
Wow.

Nick (19:44):
so that is it for the news this week.
Like I said, this is Thursday,so, um,

Joni (19:52):
a lot for being a

Nick (19:53):
for being a couple.
The holidays, I'm, you know, this show would've been, had the
holidays not been announced,this would've been a 10 minute
show.

Joni (19:59):
No, it wouldn't, have because I got.
some Stuff.

Nick (20:02):
I know, I know.
But, but

Joni (20:04):
well not, I don't know if I got that much stuff, but I got
some stuff

Nick (20:07):
the holidays, that was a lot.

Joni (20:09):
yeah.
Well, and we'll definitely getthose dates put up there.
That's a little easier to followalong.
And

Nick (20:15):
yeah, you didn't, if you were trying to write that down
when I was talking, I apologize.
It will be up on our blog, both

Joni (20:21):

I was

Nick (20:22):

Joni (20:24):
That's right.

Nick (20:24):
uh, I'll put those up on the blog, so I think, I think we
should get onto our week three.
Winter.
Okay.
Brenda won last week.
so I think it's time before weget into, uh, the rest of our
show.
We always do it after the news,so even though it was a short
news segment, why

Joni (20:40):
Okay.

Nick (20:41):
So

Joni (20:42):
I gotta find my little ticker here.
Okay.

Nick (20:44):
Joanie's got the wheel.
I got the list.

Joni (20:48):

picked, good luck to you.

Joni (20:53):
Count me down.

Nick (20:54):

Joni (20:55):

Nick (20:57):
It's spinning.
It's spinning, it's spinning,spinning, spinning.

Nick (22:08):
We're gonna move on to Spotlight on attraction.
So we finish Tomorrow Land.
Tomorrow Land's done.
Yes.
We're gonna move on to FantasyLand.
And I know like, you know, storybook Circus is part of
Fantasy Land, in my opinion.

Joni (22:22):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (22:23):
Some people say differently, but, uh, we're
gonna head over to one of themost iconic attractions at Wild
Disney World, not.
You know, the most thrilling, obviously, but one of the most
iconic, and that would be, well,

Joni (22:37):
well, everybody knows

Nick (22:38):
one.
Yeah.
You see it in pictures almostevery time you see a Disney
World commercial on tv.
Not every time, but I bet youknow at least 75% of the time
you see this ride.
Yeah, and it's Dumbo, the flyingelephant.

Joni (22:49):
elephant.
We just watched this,

Nick (22:51):
we did

Joni (22:52):
we just watched this the other day with our uh,
granddaughter.

Nick (22:54):
Granddaughter.
I had not seen Doo since I'vebeen a

Joni (22:57):
Oh, are you kidding me?
no, I'm, I watch Disney moviesway more often than you do.

Nick (23:01):
Nope.
I have not seen it since I'vebeen a child

Joni (23:03):
and I am the type of person that if a Disney, if, if
a movie doesn't even have to bea Disney, if a movie is started,
I finish it.
I am like glued to it and Nickknows this.
And if I get up to go.
get a snack or use the restroom,he pauses it for me.
It doesn't matter if it's achild's movie or, or what.
And I'm into it.

Nick (23:22):
If I, if I don't pause it, I hear it from the other room.
Are you not gonna pause that?

Joni (23:27):
That's Or or you have to back it up?

Nick (23:29):
I gotta, yeah, I gotta rewind it.
You know what?
I'm glad you mentioned wewatched Dunwood the other day
because like I said, so I havenot seen it since I was a kid,
but something that I foundmyself realizing, watching it as
an adult, the gossipy oldelephant ladies.
Mm-hmm.
Used to make me sad when I was akid.
Now I'm an adult.
Ladies made me angry.

Joni (23:50):
Oh,

Nick (23:50):
You know, the, the elephants always,

Joni (23:52):
sure a lot

Nick (23:52):
fun of Dumbo.
I'm

Joni (23:53):
sure a lot of.
people Can relate to, that's howsome of their family members
are.

Nick (23:58):
I know, it just, I thought that was just a, not a sign of
maturing, but just differencewhen you're, your eyes as a kid
and your eyes as an adult.
Yeah.

Joni (24:07):
But that's okay.
Your, Dumbo flies in the end andhis mom's treated like a queen.

Nick (24:11):
The movie's the same.
Yeah.

Joni (24:12):
And they're the, cute, the cute scene at the end.
Dumbo gets his revenge on thesegossipy

Nick (24:17):
Yeah,

Joni (24:19):
on these gossipy girl elephants.

Nick (24:22):
What do you got for Dumbo over there?

Joni (24:24):
Oh, you want me to do it?
Okay.
Yeah.

Nick (24:25):
Why don't you start out with Dumbo?
'cause Joni has all the rides, categorized and,

Joni (24:29):
okay.
So Dumbo, the flying elephant.
obviously as Nick had said, isin fantasy land.
And this ride is a slow spinningRide where you soar high in the
sky and see an elephant fly on awhimsical, flight aboard Dumbo,
there are no heightrequirements.

(24:49):
You have two riders per gondolaor per elephant.
There is the seating, um, has alittle bit of a special
arrangement.
You want to, have the smallerrider sitting on the inside
because as it fans out.
The

Nick (25:07):
gra the gravity.
Yeah,

Joni (25:08):
to the outer.
So, So that no littles getsquished.
This one is currently a tier twomultipass and you must be able
to transfer from an electricvehicle and or wheelchair.
There's no action photo.
The ride duration is about oneand a half minutes, and this is
an opening day attraction inWalt Disney World.

(25:29):
of October 1st, 1971.

Nick (25:31):
You have a photo of me in, in Dumbo, don't you?

Joni (25:33):
I do.

Nick (25:34):
I think you should.
I think we should post that onour website or Facebook.

Joni (25:37):
Yeah.
They have,, outside the ride, they have a, like a little
platform or stage kind of thingthat you can go up and they have
um,

Nick (25:43):
they have a Dumbo,

Joni (25:43):
they have one up there that you can sit in and get, a
photo shoot.
and I think, if I rememberright, it's got like a, a tent
or something behind it.
Something circusy.
Behind

Nick (25:52):
Yeah.
It's got something.

Joni (25:53):
Yeah, it something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'll find it.

Nick (25:55):
So their website.
And it's funny'cause I, on mywebsite here I have all my tabs
pulled up that I need to talkabout and Dumbo on the Disney
website.
It's an actual video of Dumbospinning.
So I've been watching this forthe last 10 minutes.
Um, on the website it says,Dumbo, the flying elephant soar
high in the sky and see anelephant fly.
An airborne adventure based onthe 1941 Disney animated

(26:18):
masterpiece.
Dumbo.
This glass of attraction letsyou hop a top, everybody's
favorite circus elephant as hediscovers he can fly.

Joni (26:26):
complied.

Nick (26:26):
Dumbo's faithful friend Timothy Q Mouse helps keep you
aloft with his magic feather.
As the jubilant organ melodybegins, lift off for a graceful
cruise around and around andaround, storybook circus, fly
high or stay low.
You can adjust your altitudeduring the flight so you can
soar high.
Yep.
Or swoop low.

Joni (26:47):
That's right.

Nick (26:48):
right.
So that's what the Disney, website says.
Have those

Joni (26:51):
Have those little, gears in there.

Nick (26:53):
Basically it's like, what is, there's Dumbo carpet carpets
and there was triceratop spinsand you can throw Astro Orbiter
in there.
but the idea for the originalDumbo Ride was developed in the
fifties for Disneyland inCalifornia.

Joni (27:06):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (27:08):
The original version opened shortly after
Disneyland's Grand opening, andit quickly became a fan
favorite.
So the first Dumbo to FlyingElephant Ride at Magic Kingdom
looked very similar toDisneyland's 10 Elephant rides
vehicles circling around acentral hub.
This says it was located infantasy land.
Near Cinderella's Castle, andfor decades it was one of the

(27:28):
most popular family rides in thepark, but it was such a low
capacity ride.
You know, there's only 10elephants and two people per
elephant that the long.
Lines, the long weights wasgetting people irritated and the
queue was completely outdoors.
So in 2012,

Joni (27:47):
mm-hmm.

Nick (27:47):
they did the makeover.
Disney didn't just update Dumbo, they completely reimagined it.
They moved the ride to a newarea in storybook Circus, added
a second Dumbo spinner.
So now two riots could operateside by side.
And they introduced an indoorair conditioned interactive
queue.

Joni (28:05):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (28:06):
Designed like a, uh, big top circus where kids can play.

Joni (28:09):
Yeah, it's cute.
I think that was probably avery, very wise idea.
Like not even only justintroducing the second, yeah.
Vehicles, you know, but justmoving it away from the castle.

Nick (28:20):
No, yeah, I agree.

Joni (28:22):
I don't think that sounded like it would've been a very.
Prime spot for it.
I think it's perfect right whereit's at.

Nick (28:28):
Yeah, I'm sure.
Well, magic Enum looked a lotdifferent back then too.
But yeah, I think it's, um, Ithink adding the second one's
huge because, you know, it's nota high moving

Joni (28:38):
Right.

Nick (28:39):
A high capacity ride.
Right.

Joni (28:43):
But I mean, it is only a minute and a half ride.

Nick (28:45):
Is that a minute and a half and a half

Joni (28:47):
duration.
Yeah.
But yeah, I liked it.
It's uh.
That they put the two togetherand it and the shade, having
the, having that tent.

Nick (28:55):
Oh yeah.
Style

Joni (28:56):
is nice as well.

Nick (28:57):
Especially Yeah.
In that Florida heat for sure.
So it's a classic.
Yeah.
If you've never done it becauseyou're like, I'm not gonna do
Dumbo, I, I think you should doit.

Joni (29:05):
So here's my

Nick (29:06):
to do it.

Joni (29:07):
If you, if me personally, if I had to pick one of the spin
rides, if I was gonna do Dumbo,Aladdin, or.
The triceratops.
spin,

Nick (29:18):
leave out orbiter.
'cause orbiter's a littledifferent.
Yeah, it's different.
Yeah.
These,

Joni (29:22):
These, three.
But these three.
will.
Provided, let's just say tri TheTriceratop spin was

Nick (29:27):
Okay.
Yep.

Joni (29:28):
My number one pick would be Dumbo.
Is it?
Yep.
Only because it's an older,well,

Nick (29:37):
like the classic nostalgia

Joni (29:38):
I think.
I think a child may picksomething different, but me
growing up with Dumbo.
and You know, those kinds of.
Older movies.
Aladdin wasn't out when I was akid, so I didn't grow up on
that.
Mm-hmm.
You know, my kids did, but Ithink I'm more prone to picking
the Dumbo over.

Nick (29:57):
over.
I would

Joni (29:57):
it's iconic.

Nick (29:58):
I would pick Dumbo too, but for different reasons.
Okay.
I think Aladdin, there's not alot of views with Aladdin.
It's kind of, you know, there's,there's not a lot of views with
it.
I think out of the spinnerrides, Dumbo has the best views.
That's why, I don't know.
Trons right there.
The castle's not far.

Joni (30:17):
Yeah.

Nick (30:17):
Yeah.
So that's why I would chooseDumbo.

Joni (30:21):
Well, Aladdin would be my second.

Nick (30:24):
I, I think I would agree with that.

Joni (30:27):
But then

Nick (30:27):
like Aladdin.

Joni (30:28):
You know, I used to sit and watch Aladdin with the kids.
So, and the triceratops is Just,I mean,

Nick (30:35):
it's a dinosaur.
Dumbo dinosaur.

Joni (30:37):
I mean,

Nick (30:38):
dinosaur

Joni (30:39):
really got into dinosaurs, although that was a cute area.
I never did go into the Dinodig, but

Nick (30:45):
no, we never did.
We never made it in there.
We should

Joni (30:47):
but That was a hot land over there.

Nick (30:49):
Oh God.
That, yeah, it's

Joni (30:51):
that was almost as.
Hot as.
Toy Story

Nick (30:53):
Toy Story.
Yeah.
Toy story landing.
I'll put that heat up againstanybody

Joni (30:59):
Waiting in line to for the meet and greet, man.
Everybody had umbrellas.
It was,

Nick (31:03):
a hot land.
I don't know what it is aboutToy Story land.
I don't know if there's this nota lot of air flow through there.

Joni (31:09):
know but it's brutal.
it's hot

Nick (31:12):
and people say animal kingdom's the hottest park when

Joni (31:15):
it's the most humid, but it has all that foliage, but
it's the most humid because ithas all the plant life.

Nick (31:21):
Yeah, no, that makes sense.
But I, I don't know, I, I puttour to her land there.
Up there.

Joni (31:26):
yeah, me too.

Nick (31:27):
That's it for our spotlight on attraction.
Dumbo.
If you've never done it, if youthink you're too cool for Dumbo,
go do it.
Just experience it.
You'll have fun.
So we're gonna

Joni (31:37):
going to

Nick (31:38):
go over to Joanie with her, first appearance series,

Joni (31:42):
shift Gears.
here.
Okay.
shift gears.
So I think how I'm going to beapproaching this, I'm gonna try
my best to keep it in a firstappearance chronological order.
With that being said, last weekwe talked about Snow White.
This week we're gonna doCinderella.

Nick (31:57):
I like Cinderella

Joni (31:58):
Cinderella at the time of her,, first appearance, which
was February 15th, 1950.
Her age was 19.
This movie is one hour 16minutes, and its creator is
Charles, and I'm gonna slaughterthis name Peralt, or I'm, he was
the writer in 1967.

(32:19):
Mark Davison animator, EricLawson, Les Clark and Walt
Disney are in there as well, helping with that.
So this movie is based on thestory of Cinderella by Charles
Peralt, and I actually was ableto find the lyrics for the
original opening of Cinderella.

(32:43):
We're not gonna play them.
I'm not gonna sing them, butwe're not gonna play them'cause
we don't wanna do any copyrightkind of stuff.
But I will read what they say.

Nick (32:50):
So this is the, like, this is how the movie starts with

Joni (32:52):
Like, like when they're going through like the opening
credits.
and things like

Nick (32:55):
This is the music playing.

Joni (32:56):
And and, um, so if you are interested in how the actual
melody goes.

Nick (33:01):
Watch the movie,

Joni (33:01):
look it up, or whatever.
But it says, the opening lyricsof the 1950 Disney animated film
for Cinderella Art Cinderella.
You're as lovely as your nameCinderella.
You're a sunset in a frame.
Though you're dressed in rags, you wear an heir of queenly
grace.

(33:22):
Anyone can see a throne would beyour proper place.
Cinderella.
If you give your heart a chance,it will lead you to the Kingdom
of Romance.
There you'll see your dreamsunfold Cinderella.
Cinderella in the sweetest storyever told.

Nick (33:40):
And

Joni (33:41):
so that part of the song is supposed to emphasize hope
and romantic possibilities thatlie ahead for Cinderella.
So,

Nick (33:48):
That's a foreshadowing.
Yeah.

Joni (33:50):
So anyway.
Her occupation in this is she'sa Scho m maid.
Her mother and father are bothdeceased, so she's raised by her
stepmother and she has two, notso nice stepsisters.
They are Anastasia and Della, her spouse, if you would, is,
prince Charming.
And, She's French and hersidekicks.

(34:12):
I love that I get to say their

Nick (34:13):
sidekicks.

Joni (34:14):
Are the mice primarily Jack and Gus?
She has a fairy godmother andher animal friends, including
her, the dog Bruno, and I haveto mention her anti sidekick is
the stepmother and thestepsister's cat.
Mm-hmm.
Who is a very, very naughty boy.

(34:34):
It was originally nominated forthree Academy Awards and it won
a Golden Bear at the BerlinInternational Film Festival.
In 2018, Cinderella was selectedfor preservation in the US
National Film Registry by theLibrary of Congress as being
culturally, historically, andaesthetically significant.

(34:56):
Really, I yeah, her traits are, that she's kind, carrying and
hopeful.
and there were several moviesthat followed after this
original Which are, I don't knowif I should go, I'm not, I'm not
gonna go into those, but I justwanna make a mention to them.
Cinderella, two is called DreamsCome True.
And that's a 2002 Cinderella,three A Twist in Time, 2007.

(35:19):
And then there was, the latestone, Cinderella, and that was, a
live action.
That was in 2015.

Nick (35:26):
I remember that.
I've seen that one.
Yeah.

Joni (35:28):
You have?
yeah, I'm shocked.

Nick (35:30):
Yeah, I think, I think we went to a movie and watched it
in Chicago, I'm pretty sure.

Joni (35:34):
Huh?
I don't remember, but I amshocked.
Yeah.
So anyway, that's what I've goton, on Cinderella

Nick (35:44):
and I like Cinderella and of course, Cinderella Castle,
imagine Kingdom named afterCinderella.
Well, thanks, Joanie.
That

Joni (35:50):
That interesting.
Yeah.
You're welcome.

Nick (35:52):
So we're gonna get onto our tip or trick.

Joni (35:54):
Okay.

Nick (35:55):
This tip or trick is a, I've, I completely did a 180 on
this.
I was very anti this thing andnow I'm very pro this thing.
So what I'm talking about is thefuel rod.
A fuel rod is a portable phonecharger that it's about what?
It's about the size of, let'ssay a pack of gum or something.

(36:17):
I don't know.

Joni (36:18):
Is it, maybe like a size D battery or a C

Nick (36:22):
It's about as thick as a C battery, probably two C
batteries stacked on top of eachother, maybe a little bit
smaller.
That's a good, good, uh,reference.
So they're phone chargers.
Now these things are not gonnacharge your phone from, I think
if you're at 50%, it might getyou to 90 or something, maybe a
hundred from 50% depending onyour phone.

Joni (36:41):
And how the Usage, the

Nick (36:42):
right.
Depending on the usage.
But the good thing about fuelrods is every park and a lot of
resorts have, um, swap stations.
So when you do charge your phoneand you need a new fuel rod.
You go to the park, there'skiosk there, you put it in and
it spits you out a, a fullycharged fuel rod.
And for this service, it isfree.

(37:04):
So you, you swap a dead one fora fully charged one.
Now you can buy these on Amazon.
I recommend doing that becausethey're more expensive at the
Disney parks, but you can findthem on Amazon.
Now when I say I was very antifuel rod, I used to be because
they don't.
They're not gonna charge yourphone from zero to a hundred.
That's not what they're meant todo.

(37:26):
They're meant to get you throughuntil you can get to another
station and swap it.
I used to use, an anchor, youknow, actually this one sitting
right here.

Joni (37:35):
It's they're, they're big and bulky.
They're

Nick (37:37):
big and bulky.
It's big and bulky.
They're

Joni (37:40):
That is like the, maybe it's a little bit larger than a
size, longer than a deck of cardsize.

Nick (37:47):
Oh yeah.
It's bigger than a deck ofcards.

Joni (37:49):
Maybe two deck But Maybe they have smaller ones, I don't

Nick (37:51):
No, they do.
But the good thing about thisone is it's, this will power
your phone.
I could probably charge my phonethree times from 0% with this.
The bad thing about it iscarrying around Disney World.
Hmm.
They take, they're big andthey're bulky,

Joni (38:04):
Mm-hmm.

Nick (38:05):
and I don't like carrying a bag, a backpack anymore.
I carry, you know, a small fannypack.
Yeah.
Over my, over my torso.
So the fuel rods are great forthat.
They're small and like I said,if you can swap them at Disney
World at many kiosks there, so.
That's our tip is to get thefuel rods.

(38:25):
I know people, you know, peopledon't like'em for the fact they
don't charge your phone all theway.
I get that.
But the big ones are not asconvenient

Joni (38:34):
So on these fuel rods, so when you get one, what is when
you get one from a machine?
Mm-hmm.

Nick (38:40):
Mm-hmm.

Joni (38:41):
Okay.
Firstly, do you know the cost ifyou were to just buy one
outright at a machine?

Nick (38:45):
I don't know the cost.
I know they're more expensivethan, than you would order them
on Amazon.

Joni (38:49):
Okay.
Secondly, do, do you know, sowhen you swap it out, what is
the rate?
If you're putting, Oh, it'sfree.
It's a free.
swap out.

Nick (38:58):
Absolutely free.
Okay.
You put your old one in, a newone spits out.
But the new one that spits outwill not have cords when you
originally buy it.
The fuel rod comes with any kindof attachment you need for any,
any kind of phone.

Joni (39:11):
Keep'em.
You need'em.

Nick (39:13):
So when you do swap it out, it will not, it'll just
come with the rod itself.
Okay.

Joni (39:17):
the, okay.

Nick (39:18):
So I, like I said, I was against it and I bought one for
our trip.
We went last August just to see,you know, what the difference
was.
And honestly, I prefer, I preferthe fuel rod now it's much more
convenient fits in your pocket.

Joni (39:32):
Okay.
Well I have found a little bitof extra news, don't hold me to
this if it's a few dollars, giveor take.
Um, but I did find that a fuelRod portable phone charging
system costs$38 at Walt DisneyWorld kiosk.
This includes a fully chargedfuel rod, but this one says it
has the necessary adapter cablesif you buy

Nick (39:51):
them brand new,

Joni (39:51):
you buy them brand new.
Okay.
So if somebody doesn't haveanything to swap out, their
phone dies.
They need,

Nick (39:58):
one at fuel rod

Joni (39:58):
You can buy a fuel rod at a kiosk.
Get the cords.
For 38 bucks.

Nick (40:03):
Yep.
It'll come in a plastic

Joni (40:04):
Okay.
You, can also purchase fuel oddsonline, as Nick was saying, for
a lower price before the trip.
So it's a single fuel rod.
It doesn't really, I'm notfinding where it, says about how
long it charges.

Nick (40:17):
Well, and it's, every phone's different.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It, I think it charged, I thinkit charged my phone.
I have a Samsung 22 plus s 22plus.
I think it charged my phoneabout 45%, 45 to 50%, which was
fine because it got me throughthe day.
Okay.

Joni (40:34):
okay, So another little thing, because I know there's
many different types of phonesand outlets and chargers and
whatnot, and people have got,you know, boxes or CS or
whatever.
This initial purchase includes afully charged fuel rod,
A-U-S-B-C to A-U-S-B-C cable.
Mm-hmm.
A USB micro adapter andA-U-S-B-C to Apple Lightning

(41:01):
cable.
Yeah.

Nick (41:02):
It comes anything you would need.
So it's in

Joni (41:04):
Yeah.
And You know what?
And even if you don't have thatfor your phone, I would maybe
keep it anyway.
'cause you never know.
Like, you know, these are goodfor.
You know, if your spouse or afriend or a family member has a
different style of phone thanyou do?

Nick (41:22):
Oh yeah.
Oh, you talking about the

Joni (41:23):
Yeah.
yeah, for sure.
I mean, even if, even if it'snot a cord that fits, I mean, I
do, I'm trying to, you know, tryto be helpful to others.

Nick (41:31):
I even took, we took ours on our cruise ship last year.
Yeah.
That's how you know, obviouslythere's not anywhere to swap it
on a cruise ship.

Joni (41:39):
but

Nick (41:40):
We charged them every night.
Yeah.
Or I charge mine every night.
Yeah.
So they are rechargeable.
So you know, you don't have toswap it, you can recharge it.
Yeah.

Joni (41:47):
Yeah.

Nick (41:48):
But

Joni (41:49):
So, yeah.

Nick (41:49):
yeah.
So I'm actually gonna put thatup on, on the blog to, I'll
links to purchase fuel rods.
'cause like I said,

Joni (41:57):
where are you gonna do your purchase link through?
I'll

Nick (42:00):
do it on the website.
On a blog.

Joni (42:01):
but which, which

Nick (42:02):
Oh, through Amazon.

Joni (42:03):
Through Amazon, Okay.
Do you know offhand how much it.
is on Amazon?

Nick (42:07):
I don't, I think, uh, it, I look today, but today is still
prime day.
Oh, yeah.
So it's not real accurate.
I think there was a three pack

Joni (42:16):
Yeah.
And by the time this airs.
It'll be all, prime day.

Nick (42:18):
It was either two or a three pack for$60.
I want to say

Joni (42:22):
That's good because If one at Magic Kingdom or in within
the, is it just Magic Kingdomthat has,'em or the other

Nick (42:28):
person?
No, every, yeah.
And a lot of resorts.

Joni (42:31):
Okay.
And are$38.

Nick (42:33):
yeah.
I didn't know

Joni (42:34):
if you're getting two for 60.
Yeah.
You're saving right there.
Okay.

Nick (42:40):
So yeah, I will have links for that.

Joni (42:42):
And if I remember right, they do come in a, like, it's
not waterproof, but it's waterresistant.
Like, you Can't like jump in apool with it in your

Nick (42:50):
No, no, no.

Joni (42:51):
But if you go on a water ride, yeah.
Don't be safe.
It'll be,

Nick (42:54):
they come in a, a plastic, A plastic case, for lack of a
better word, that snaps.
You can snap everything in thereand all your cords fit in there
and everything very tightly.

Joni (43:04):
Tightly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But they fit in there.
Yeah.
So it'll at least not getdamaged by any water like if you
go on Tiana's and decide to sitin the front.

Nick (43:11):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like I said, I wouldn't throw itin a, in a bathtub full of

Joni (43:14):
no.

Nick (43:15):
but yeah.

Joni (43:16):
Well, if I could just say one more thing.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I just wanna kind of back itup a little bit.
I know we finished TomorrowLand, but I just wanna make a, a
mention of, characters.
That can be seen over intomorrow Land and in, you can
often meet Stitch near Buzz,Lightyears, Space Ranger, spin
exit

Nick (43:35):
Stitch hangs out over there.

Joni (43:36):
Yeah.
Yep.
So, there's a stage back thereI've not known of him to come
off of the stage for photos, buthe will photo bomb you if he
sees you.
'cause he is, he's done that tous.
picture.
Uhhuh.
Yeah.
And then, he may also appear inthe, friend's cavalcade.

Nick (43:51):
cake.
Mm-hmm.
You

Joni (43:53):
see him there.
And another space that he, canbe just found roaming around.
Now

Nick (43:58):
to roam around,

Joni (43:59):
he is known to roam.
So we can look for him eithernearby the stage, at the exit of
Buzz light years spin

Nick (44:08):
Yeah.
In that

Joni (44:09):
and just kind of walking around so.
I just wanted to make a mentionbefore we closed out tomorrow.
Land.

Nick (44:14):
All right, there you go.
Tomorrow lane is closed.
