Today’s guest is: Mattie Deed
Mattie  is  a  Boston  resident  surrounded  by  her  three  awesome  daughters, grandchildren,  
sisters,  brother  and  friends.    If  you  remembers  nothing  else, please  know  that  she  is  
kind,  compassionate,  patient  and  passionate  about helping culturally, economically and 
socially diverse individuals to connect with occupational skills training, career ladders 
employment opportunities, financial empowerment tools, budgeting to saving and establishing credit 
by any natural or spiritual means necessary!

With  over  24  years  in  Workforce  Development  Services,  partnering  with community-based 
organizations to meet the needs of job seekers of all background and circumstances, Mattie 
specializes in assisting clients with goals, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, 
online job applications, mock interviews, networking, social media, financial empowerment, 
budgeting, credit building / debt resolution and much more. Mattie is an accomplished leader with 
extensive experience in the non-profit sector and assisted in the creation and development of 
Boston’s first One-Stop Career Center (The Work Place, 1995), the MOSES (Massachusetts One-Stop 
Employment Systems), the Roxbury Resource Center (1998) and the Allston/Brighton Resource Center 
(2006).

Mattie is also a Spoken Word Artist. Her first book, “Fourth Realm: Where All Things Are Possible” 
was published in 2005. She is currently writing her second book which focuses on workforce 
development, job search strategies, and financial coaching. She is a member of the Library of 
International Poetry and a former member of the “57” Writers and Readers Group of Allston/Brighton” 
where her poetry is published in their writings.

Mattie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management,   University of Massachusetts Boston 
and holds an Associate Degree in Office Management from Newbury College; she is a Notary Public and 
has a Certificate of Completion in Financial Coaching!  Mattie fellowships with St John Missionary 
Baptist Church since 1969 where she created the only Workforce Development Ministry.
