Meet Your Host:

Hey there! I’m Michelle Kui—Visibility Marketing and Speaker Success Coach.

I’m the founder of Elevate LifeCoaching, where I help coaches like you build a stand-out brand, attract high-quality 5-6 figure clients, and land paid speaking gigs—all by leveraging the #1 most important asset in your business (hint: it’s not JUST social media!).

My Journey into Public Speaking & Visibility

My speaking journey started early—at 9 years old when my dad voluntold me to enter a speech contest (thanks, Dad!). Since then, I became the go-to speaker whenever someone needed a voice on short notice.

From leading corporate workshops to running training sessions, I thrived where most people froze—grabbing the mic while others sat back, hoping not to get called on.

After working with hundreds of coaches, I realized a HUGE missing piece that most entrepreneurs completely overlook—and it’s the #1 strategy top coaches use to grow their business, attract premium clients, and get booked on bigger stages.

Are you using it? If not, let’s change that. 🚀

Michelle (00:00):
Today we are going to talk about a very sensitive
topic, which is your dailyaccountability booster, and this
is something that I see a lotof my clients who are struggling
with getting themselvesaccountable with all the ideas
and things that they wanted todo in their coaching business,
but yet somehow, when theyactually go about implementing

(00:22):
it, there's something that'sjust missing.
So today I am going to shareone single, most effective tip
that you can start implementingtoday and that's going to help
you to stay on track, keepyourself accountable and also
keep that momentum going asyou're progressing and
developing your growing yourcoaching business.
So let's get started.

(00:43):
Hey, you're listening to Makeit Visible podcast.
I'm your host, michelle Kuei.
I am a visibility marketingcoach and soon to be your
business bestie in the coachingbusiness world.
Not knowing how to connect withyour audience, grab people's
attention and get them excitedto buy from you should never be
the reason you give up on yourdream to become a full-time

(01:05):
coach.
I'm all about making marketingthe easiest part of your
coaching business, so that youcan turn a passion for coaching
into a visible and profitablereality.
So buckle up, ladies, let's getstarted.
Okay, so back in the day when Ifirst started out my coaching
business, I found myselfconstantly putting off things,

(01:28):
that's, most important tasks.
I would have a list of to-dosand somehow I could just not get
to it.
I usually get very distractedby the emails that comes in.
Or checking social media.
I find myself scrolling to toall social and I have these
great idea of oh, that lookslike a great idea.
I wanted to do that, I want totry it out, and so I start

(01:50):
planning, and I noticed thatvery quickly, within that first
couple of months when I became asolopreneur, I find myself
having a list of to-do but noneof them are really getting
checked off, and so I'm a hugeplanner addict.
Those of you who also love andplanning, drop it into the
comment.
Let me know if this issomething that you do too.

(02:12):
I have endless copies ofplanners and I usually carry
planner with me all the time.
So I would write all my tasks, all my to-dos, and plan out the
whole entire month of stuff thatI plan to do, the ideas I have
into that paper planner.
So when I started to thinkabout wait, I have so many

(02:34):
things to do, so many ideas, Iwant to try a workshop.
I want to try like, maybe doingmore speaking.
I want to pitch to this place,I want to be on podcast, I want
to create this offer.
I have this amazing idea ofwhat I can do in a coaching
business, in my one-on-onecoaching, with a group coaching.
So I end up collecting theseideas and sometimes what I'll do

(02:55):
is I will even go as far asimplementing them by trying it
out, put it on my calendar.
I talk about hey, I'm openingthree spots for my one-on-one
coaching, I'm looking for fiveclients, five people who want to
work on this together, and itwould just go from month to
month and there's no systemwhatsoever.

(03:18):
I noticed that it wasn't theaccountability that I was needed
.
It was actually theimplementation of these plans
and idea that I came up with.
So I try set aside focus time,I try a Pomodoro method.
So basically, you set a timerto 45 minutes, right?
So you have a power session, you work for the first maybe

(03:39):
half an hour, you take a breakfor 15 minutes, come back and
you do it again.
So I try a lot of differentmethods, even prioritize my
tasks, but I wasn't seeing anyresults.
I was doing a lot of busy work, but I wasn't seeing any results
.
So it finally dawned on me whatis it that I need to do in
order to be more productive, inorder to have that momentum, in

(04:03):
order to feel that I'm actuallyaccomplishing something and that
something is leading to theresult with the amount of effort
and energy I put into my work?
So here's why there's so manydifferent methods, and I'm sure
if you Google it, you're goingto come up with tons of
different ideas.
But my goal is really tosimplify this for you.

(04:24):
I know a lot of coaches arelooking for accountability
partners or groups that you canjoin, but the problem with that
is there's no accountabilitywithin that group.
So sometimes people would meetand, depending on the group
dynamic, you might not find thebest person to be partnered with
, or that person's life driftthem away, and now you're stuck

(04:47):
with having an accountabilitypartner who needs the
accountability, and it justbecomes this vicious cycle of
being a solopreneur and youdon't have any schedule or
routine to stick to, because nowthere's nobody behind your back
and saying hey, michelle, thisis at certain hour, I need you
to have this completed task orat this deadline, you need to

(05:11):
turn that in.
There is no such thing as that, and so you're building your
coaching business as you go byyourself, and so how do you
create that routine?
So this is why havingaccountability, or a daily
accountability, is the key right.
You often work on your own andwithout anybody checking in on
you for the progress, so you caneasily fall into that

(05:34):
procrastination.
And life happens.
Let's face it, life happened.
There's so many events,elections going on, there's
tragedy happening everywhere, and our energy gets shifted and
drifted away.
So, instead of focusing on whatwould actually lead you to the
result, we easily put it off,and that becomes procrastination
.
Not only just that, butsometimes our perfectionism also

(05:57):
step into the way, and the waythat I see it is perfectionism
is really the advanced level ofprocrastination.
So, basically, we're justprocrastinating instead of
achieving the goals that we arehere to accomplish.
So, in order to hold yourselfaccountable, you have to stick
to your commitment, right, andmaybe it's setting the intention

(06:18):
on a daily basis.
You're going to sit down andyou're going to think about why
is it that this coachingbusiness seems important to you
and maybe it isn't.
Maybe at this point of thestage, that's not on your
priority list.
That's completely okay, right?
Give yourself the permission tosay you know what, building a
coaching business is really notmy priority and I'm okay with
that.
And you have to be okay with it, right?

(06:42):
You can't be coming back andsay, oh, I wish I had really
just stick with it and actuallygo for it and implement it and
do whatever that Michelle hadsaid to do.
So you have to be okay withletting it go and not letting it
to be your priority if it's notyour priority.
If it is your priority, then ittakes the commitment to
actually wanting to do it andthat means you make that as your
priority on a daily basis.

(07:04):
And how do you hold yourselfaccountable?
Come up with a method, come upwith affirmation or things that
you can connect to on a dailybasis that you said to yourself
okay, no matter what happened inthe world or in my life or in
my surrounding, I'm going tostay focused, dedicating this
much of hour on a daily basis tobuild my coaching business.

(07:26):
So it brings me to somethingthat's called a power hour.
What is a power hour?
So power hour is a great way tohold yourself accountable on a
daily basis.
Hour is a great way to holdyourself accountable on a daily
basis and it takes you.
Basically it takes everything.

(07:46):
It removes every distractionthat you have in your life and
you just focus on what's matterto you within that dedicated
hour and that's a power hour.
So the power hour is exactlywhat it sounds it's one hour of
focused, intentional work onyour top priority things for
that day.
Now you may have tons of stuffon your to-do list, but there's
always one thing that you wantto do and that is on the top of

(08:08):
your priority.
Maybe it's writing a proposalto send to your client.
That would be on the top ofyour priority list and that is
what you're going to focus on inthat one hour power hour.
And you do that on a dailybasis.
Just one big task every singleday.
So it's like someone your bosscoming into it by your desk and

(08:30):
they say basically hey, michelle, I need it by the next hour.
Do it, turn it in and you'redone right.
So that is the power hour.
So it includes it may includesomething like content creation.
I'm just going to sit down andI'm going to create content for
the next hour and that's nothingelse.
I'm going to come step betweenme and the content creation.
That is my dedicated power hourfor that particular hour.

(08:53):
Now that power hour could alsobe client outreach, so I'm going
to connect with my client todayduring that power hour.
That would be your task for thatparticular power hour and you
just go for it and you dedicateall that hour just doing that
one task.
So each morning when you get up, what you're going to do is,
before you dive into any othertasks, you're going to spend the

(09:16):
60 minutes just on thatimportant thing.
Okay?
So that means no scrolling onsocial media, no opening up your
email.
You're going to stay focusedand just do that one task within
that one hour, a power hour.
What you'll notice is, afteryou complete that one task, your
momentum is probably increased, your energy is high, you

(09:39):
actually feel motivated that youaccomplished that big task and
it's more likely for you toactually tackle all the other
things that's on your to-do list.
So, even though you just focuson that one focused task within
that power hour, what you'llnotice is your energy starts to
build up, your momentum startsto kick in and it is more likely

(10:02):
for you to finish thesubsequent task in the way that
you have never imagined beforeand you might find yourself end
up completing all the to-dolists on that day.
But that is the idea behind thepower hour, is it helps to
boost your energy up and keepyourself in.
That momentum of here is mytask and these are the things

(10:25):
I'm going to do, and my energyis there.
I'm already on this.
I can finish this, no problem.
So how do you implement this?
Now, depending on if you're amorning person or you're a night
person, you might finddifferent time where you want to
have this focus timeimplemented, right.
Let's say, I have a friend whois a night person, night owl,

(10:48):
and she's more productive duringthe night, so maybe it is
something that she does in theafternoon when she get up or she
take a nap and then she startputting that one hour focus time
.
Okay, pick a time that is bestfor you to have this power hour,
and you don't have necessarily.
It doesn't necessarily have tobe in the morning, right?
It just look at your currentsleeping habit, your schedule.

(11:11):
Are you a morning person, areyou a night owl?
And you wanted to work itaround what feels right for you,
and there's no set rules interms of when that power hour
needs to be.
Some of us, we are moreproductive in the morning.
So typically that is probablythe first thing that I would do
before I take any calls.
So my first call typically onmy calendar it starts at nine

(11:32):
o'clock.
So my power hour starts ateight o'clock, where I just
focus on one task.
So, for example, today it's allabout creating my offer
one-on-one coaching offer andI'm going to write out the
proposal, write out theguideline, and that is going to
help me to stay focused, so ithelps me to stay connected

(11:54):
within that hour.
And then by nine o'clock comes, then I can take calls.
My energy is already built up.
I already.
It's like my morning coffee, and sometimes I have morning
coffee too when I do this powerhour.
So, depending on how you work, what your working habit is, that
is how you incorporate yourpower hour.
And the next thing I would sayis to actually identify your

(12:17):
priority.
And this is something that I dothe night before.
So I don't just wait till thenext morning to make a list of
my to-do.
I actually do it the nightbefore I go to bed.
So before I go to bed, I wouldlook at all the tasks that has
not been done on my planner andI'm going to write down or
migrate.
If you're bullet journal, helloBujo, I would migrate all my

(12:41):
tasks to the next day, to thefollowing day, so that I know
exactly when I, the moment Iwake up, what are the tasks I
need to do and what are thetasks that's on my priority to
do.
And that helps me to stayfocused, because then, when I
wake up in the morning, I'm notscrambling around and thinking,
oh, what do I need to do today?
I already have an idea, becauseI did this the night before,

(13:04):
eliminating distractions.
So a lot of us works better in aloud or busy environment.
So maybe your office might bein a coffee shop, it might be
where there's traffic around, orsometimes what even works for a
lot of my clients is theyactually put some music or
distraction in the background sothat they feel that they're not

(13:26):
actually there doing the workalone, which is also a great tip
.
If you cannot leave your houseor go to a local cafe or coffee
shop, then having a backgroundnoise might help to stay focused
.
And I know a lot.
Back in college I have thisroommate who, no matter what she
does, she would put the heavymetal music on at all times, but

(13:48):
that is her background musicand it helps her to distract the
distraction, eliminating thedistraction and so that she can
focus on her work, which becomesa distraction for me, because I
rather working alone in a quietroom where I am not interrupted
, I am not being disturbed, sofor me it actually worked the

(14:09):
opposite.
So you wanted to get intounderstanding what is your
working habit and what workswell for you.
Some of us like to work in anoisy environment.
Great, come up with a solutionfor that and place yourself in
those situations where you canbe surrounded by people or
traffic or noise, so that youcan actually focus on your work.

(14:29):
Where, if you end up opposite, like me, I like in a quiet room,
so I have no problem lockingmyself inside a room and just
focus on the tasks I need to do.
So these are the example andtips that we share with you
during that power hour so thatyou can keep up and build the
momentum that you need toaccomplish all the things that

(14:49):
you want to accomplish inbuilding your coaching business.
And hopefully these tips arehelpful to you, and if you have
any suggestions or maybesomething has worked for you in
the past, I would love for youto drop in the comment down
below and share that with us,because there's someone out

the momentum so that they cankeep going.

I will see you the next time.
