Meet Your Host:

Hey there! I’m Michelle Kui—Visibility Marketing and Speaker Success Coach.

I’m the founder of Elevate LifeCoaching, where I help coaches like you build a stand-out brand, attract high-quality 5-6 figure clients, and land paid speaking gigs—all by leveraging the #1 most important asset in your business (hint: it’s not JUST social media!).

My Journey into Public Speaking & Visibility

My speaking journey started early—at 9 years old when my dad voluntold me to enter a speech contest (thanks, Dad!). Since then, I became the go-to speaker whenever someone needed a voice on short notice.

From leading corporate workshops to running training sessions, I thrived where most people froze—grabbing the mic while others sat back, hoping not to get called on.

After working with hundreds of coaches, I realized a HUGE missing piece that most entrepreneurs completely overlook—and it’s the #1 strategy top coaches use to grow their business, attract premium clients, and get booked on bigger stages.

Are you using it? If not, let’s change that. 🚀

Michelle Kuei (00:00):
Okay, ladies, do me a favor when you open up your
desktop, just count how manytabs on your browser do you have
open.
Are you doing it?
Are you counting your tabs?
Can you actually count how manytabs you have open?
If you're ready to close thosetabs, simplify your path and

(00:23):
start seeing the actual resultsin your coaching business, then
this episode is for you.
I believe this is a hidden trapthat keeps a lot of coaches
from gaining tractions in theirbusiness.
So if you've been feeling that, having millions and billions of

(00:43):
open tab, endless strategies, information overload and yet
your business is not goinganywhere, pay attention.
This episode is going to changethat.
Hey, you're listening to Make itVisible podcast.
I'm your host, michelle Kui.
I am a visibility marketingcoach and soon to be your

(01:05):
business bestie in the coachingbusiness world.
Not knowing how to connect withyour audience, grab people's
attention and get them excitedto buy from you should never be
the reason you give up on yourdream to become a full-time
coach.
I'm all about making marketingthe easiest part of your
coaching business, so that youcan turn a passion for coaching
into a visible and profitablereality.

(01:27):
So buckle up, ladies, let's getstarted.
So a couple of months back, Iwas visiting a friend who
happens to be a wellness coach.
She flew in from NorthernCalifornia and we ended up
having this conversation thatwas going on like really

(01:48):
honestly about each other's howwe built our coaching business
and because she and I are bothinside a mastermind and we were
talking and she was helping mein terms of what are some of the
things that you guys might begoing through and we're

(02:08):
reflecting back on how westarted.
My friend, she works with womenwho's going through
perimenopause.
So maybe some of you mightresonate with this because
you're also in that helpingwomen shedding those extra
pounds without the dieting and Iknow a lot of my community
members are also within thishealth and wellness industry or

(02:30):
health and wellness niche, soyou might resonate with this.
So, anyway, so, my friend, sheworks with women who's going
through perimenopause and she'shelping them to shed those
stubborn pounds without thedieting or without any dieting,
pounds without the dieting orwithout any dieting and so she
has this incredible gift ofusing hypnosis and she really

(02:50):
has a genuine passion forhelping her client and I
remember we were talking and wewere actually doing some
recording about how she gotstarted with her niche and all
that, and she was sharing herstory and it was just very
emotional.
It made me.
It brought my tears when Iheard her story, but as we were
talking, she shared somethingthat I thought it would really

(03:12):
resonate with many of you who'slistening, and this is what she
said.
She said when she first startedout and she was doing that,
what so many of us are doing shespent hours upon hours
researching, watching YouTube.
She's had videos, download free, guide and tested every single

(03:34):
strategy on this fund, and soshe even changed her niche
several times because it justwasn't resonating.
And I'm sure you can resonatewith this as well, and honestly,
I was going through the sameprocess.
I had changed my niche so manytimes that it's just hard to
count.
Anyway, the way that she wasdescribing was she had these

(03:57):
browsers and the tabs was justlong.
She had every single tab that'sopen, and so it almost looks
like a conspiracy theory, like apinboard or a court board where
the tab is just scatteredeverywhere and there's no clear
direction whatsoever in sight.
And she's learning.
She's constantly learning, andI think that's a blessing and

(04:19):
also a curse for a lot ofcoaches.
We're into learning, we're intopersonal development journey.
So we're always open to learn.
But eventually she hit a wallafter watching so many YouTube
videos, downloading so manyguides and trying everything
under the sun, like I said, butall the information didn't
actually move her forward.

(04:40):
It actually made her feel stuck.
So, when you open your desktop, when you look at the tabs that
you have currently on yourdesktop, are you feeling that
you're moving forward or are youlooking at these tabs and
feeling stuck?
And I think that's a veryimportant image.

(05:03):
That's a very important image, feeling idea to actually think
about.
If you have so many tabs that'sopen.
You have done so many research, training, video, masterclasses,
webinar you attended, and yetit still makes you feel that you
don't have it all together.

(05:23):
That was my friend.
That was my friend and hepulled the trigger for her, and
so she took a big step.
She decided to hire a coach andshe invested over $10,000 to
get clarity, to get guidance, toactually see what is she

(05:44):
missing, and so as she paused,it almost brought tears into her
eye.
I could see like it was veryemotional for her and then
coming to this far.
So she's working withone-on-one clients and she has a
course that's happening.
She's launching, coming thisfar, and she was telling me how
this endless research didn'tbring her anywhere.

(06:06):
It wasn't until she actuallystarted to work with somebody
and that totally makes sense onall the things that she has
learned, and this is it made methink about, like all the
clients I've served A lot ofthem they've been doing research
and less tabs like she did, andit wasn't going anywhere until

(06:29):
they finally came to my programand we started working together.
And then finally, like justrecently, I was on the call and
recently there's a client whocame on to the call and she was
like Michelle, you've beentelling me for all this year
this is how you do it, this iswhat you do, this is how you do
it, this is what you do, this ishow to resolve this.
It finally clicked, it finallydawned on me why this makes

(06:55):
sense, and I'll go through thatand we have different progress
and journey that we all have totake, but it's encouraging to
hear that there's actually asystem and strategies that you
can use.
That makes all perfect sense,right?
Whatever that you have learned, you have watched all these
training videos or doing theresearch with yourself it all

(07:16):
makes sense, but it wasn't untilsomeone actually pieced all
these pieces for you togetherthat you can finally see the
light at the end of the tunnel, that you can finally see the
light at the end of the tunnel.
And so for my friend, she endedup spending $10,000 to actually
work with somebody to tie allthe pieces together, which she
already has these skills andshe's already having these

(07:38):
knowledge, but none of it.
It's like you spread out a bigbox, a piece of puzzle, all over
on the table, but you're notseeing the big picture.
You may have already learnedthe skill, but until someone
actually take the piece and putit together for you, it wasn't
until then that you can see thelight at the end of the tunnel.

(07:59):
And it's sad but it's true.
You need someone to put thatinto perspective for you so that
you can see how this works andthat my friend worth $10,000.
And so, as I was listening toher, I was reflecting on my own
journey.
So what is really differentabout me, my approach, is that I

(08:21):
am an action taker.
I don't sit there.
I have my pieces of puzzle herein front of me.
I knew immediately that there'sno way I can solve sit there, I
have my pieces of puzzle herein front of me I knew
immediately that there's no wayI can solve this puzzle, so I
need somebody.
So when I started out mycoaching business and hopefully
I'm hoping that by sharing myjourney and my friend's journey,
that it's going to inspire youto think about where are you and

(08:43):
just really truly reflecting onyour own personality Are you
someone who just wants to waituntil you see the evidence and
see the proof that this is goingto work?
Or are you someone who isreally willing to take the risk
without seeing the result, without seeing the outcome and
trusting that whatever thatyou're doing is going to make

(09:03):
sense once you have that biggerpicture, once you have that
perspective in place?
And so here's why I'm differentfrom my friend, who's the
wellness coach.
And so when I started out mycoaching business journey, I
knew immediately I need to makeit work.
I was really burned out.
I was done in my previous joband so I didn't want to spend
another hours and opening allthese tabs and doing research

(09:27):
myself.
I don't want to spend likeyears just trying to figure this
and putting the puzzlestogether and spinning in circle.
So what I did instead was Iwent straight into working with
a mentor right from the start, and that was a single decision
that made all the difference forme, because I didn't have to

(09:47):
wait until oh, how do I charge,or what program do I put
together, or what is my niche?
I jumped right into figuringout.
So it saved me tons of years oftesting, trial and error.
And I don't want to narrow itdown.
I don't want to put myself inthe box.
I basically put myself into abox right away.

(10:10):
What it got me was time.
I saved so much time for nothaving to go through and doing
research myself, and I thinkthat's a very unique perspective
and distinction between me andmy wellness coach friend,
because she knew that this isimportant for her, but she'd

(10:31):
rather do some research on herown, watching some training
video.
But if you think about theoutcome, we're all going to get
there eventually.
But the difference betweensomeone who's actually an action
taker versus someone who'staking the time to doing the
research and making sure that Iam seeing the result first
before I can actually put inmore investment it's time.

(10:52):
Our time is very limited.
The time that we have on thisplanet, on this earth, is very
limited.
I am not someone who's willingto waste any more time.
I don't have another year totrying to figure this out, which
is why I took action right away.
I hired a mentor coach.
I need you to tell me exactlywhat I need to do, what steps I

(11:13):
need to take in order to getthere.
The rest of it I can researchon my own right, but initially
it was that initial step.
So how do I get there?
Show me how I will figure outthe rest right.
So there's a big distinctionbetween whether you wanted to do
the research on your own andfinally realize that you can do
it on your own, and then youhire someone which think about

(11:33):
the time that you have alreadywasted, versus someone who's
more like an action taker, whojump in, and it saves a lot of
time a shorter amount of timethat you spend having to try and
figure it out.
And so I didn't have hundredsof tabs.
That was open.
I didn't have endless planning.
I was.
I knew what I wanted to do, Idid it and I was so one of the

(11:57):
things that my mentor coach saidthat I love working with you
because I gave you an idea andyou just run with it, and that's
exactly how I operate.
I have an idea, figure out whatthe steps I need to take and I
run with it.
I don't wait for to see theevidence of oh, is this?
I don't do the overthinking,and so here's the takeaway.

(12:19):
Right?
Here's the takeaway I want toleave you today is that
sometimes the biggest thingthat's holding you back it's not
the lack of knowledge.
You have plenty of knowledge.
I'm sure, like many of you, have already gone through
watching video, tutorial andtraining video, attended
masterclass or webinar.
It's overwhelming.

(12:41):
It's overwhelming and it's toomuch information.
When you are feeling thatinformation overload, with all
these tabs that's open, youdon't even know which
information is important for youto actually get started.
So what you actually need it'snot more information.

(13:02):
What you need is clarity, guidance and taking the right
steps forward so that you don'thave hundreds of tabs that's
open, because endless researchis not going to get you to
anywhere, that you don't havehundreds of tabs that's open
because endless research is notgoing to get you to anywhere
that you want to go.
So if you're hesitating, if youspend this whole entire 2024
thinking about maybe I shouldhire somebody, or maybe that's a

(13:25):
big investment I cannot make.
Think about, as the yearprogressed and 2025 comes along.
There's a lot of uncertainty in2025.
And if that money that you have, you're holding on because
you're just trying to figurethings out with hundreds halves
and trying to put all the piecestogether, that same amount of

(13:46):
investment it's not going to bethe same in 2025.
It's not right.
Let's be realistic.
That same dollar value is notgoing to be the same in 2024
versus 2025.
And I get the fact that there'sa lot of like fear, uncertainty
and people are trying to be veryconservative in the way that we

(14:09):
spend, the way that we investin ourselves.
But if you, I remember I waswatching one of the video that
Gary Vee had put out and he wastalking about EFT back during
the COVID time, when EFT waslike really the hot commodity
and everyone, like all the newsand headlines, were going to EFT
.
And there are some, some peoplewho jump, jump straight into T

(14:33):
without knowing the risk, without knowing the outcome,
without knowing anything.
And those are the people, ifyou look at the people, who are
willing to take the risk, thoseare the people who become
successful, no matter what theydo, because they're willing to
take that risk without knowingthe outcome of what that risk is
.
Most of the people who aresuccessful on the top 1%, those

(14:56):
are the people who's willing totake that step, take that leap
without actually seeing theresult first, and that's a big
distinction between I believeit's a big distinction between
amateur versus a pro.
A pro will look at the risk, look at the assessment, but they
don't do too much of theoverthinking.

(15:18):
They're willing to take thatrisk, knowing that business
itself is a risk.
So if you've been hesitating toactually hire somebody, I really
think that this is a great timeto truly invest in yourself and
work with someone who can cutout so much the trial and error

(15:38):
and get you moving faster.
The faster that you're gettingoff the ground, the better you
are.
Historically, this is how itworks in business the faster,
the more innovative idea thatyou have, the risk that you're
willing to take to be thatpioneer or be that first person

(16:00):
to actually go into it.
Usually you end up you getrewarded at the end because
there's nobody else doing it.
So think about what you want todo.
Maybe it's time to put down allthose free guide, close all the
tabs and start focusing on somereal actionable steps.

(16:21):
What is it that you need totake?
What is it that you actuallyneed?
Is it more information, or isit someone guiding you, putting
all these things that you havelearned, watched, attended?
Put them all into perspectivefor you, whether it's finding a
mentor, coach or maybe committedto a strategy, and just stick

(16:43):
with it.
Sometimes, the clear pathforward is really exactly what
you need to finally get sometraction in your business.
