Meet Your Host:

Hey there! I’m Michelle Kui—Visibility Marketing and Speaker Success Coach.

I’m the founder of Elevate LifeCoaching, where I help coaches like you build a stand-out brand, attract high-quality 5-6 figure clients, and land paid speaking gigs—all by leveraging the #1 most important asset in your business (hint: it’s not JUST social media!).

My Journey into Public Speaking & Visibility

My speaking journey started early—at 9 years old when my dad voluntold me to enter a speech contest (thanks, Dad!). Since then, I became the go-to speaker whenever someone needed a voice on short notice.

From leading corporate workshops to running training sessions, I thrived where most people froze—grabbing the mic while others sat back, hoping not to get called on.

After working with hundreds of coaches, I realized a HUGE missing piece that most entrepreneurs completely overlook—and it’s the #1 strategy top coaches use to grow their business, attract premium clients, and get booked on bigger stages.

Are you using it? If not, let’s change that. 🚀

Michelle (00:00):
Have you ever felt like your coaching business
can't grow because your audiencesize is too small and it's just
not big enough?
Couple of days ago I wasstreaming through my Facebook
and I was looking at some of thevideos that the coaches have
put out and one of the commentthat I heard from a really

(00:20):
well-established six, sevenfigure business coach when she
had made a comment about how herFacebook size has grown
tremendously.
And when I look at some of theengagement and perhaps you might
feel this too that when you goto some of the huge, humongous
Facebook followers that theactivity that's going on, it's

(00:43):
not that great.
So, yes, while you may haveover 1000s of followers inside
your Facebook group or youraudience size, but the reality
is that number is actually avanity matrix and doesn't
translate to conversion.
It doesn't translate to revenueand if that's what you've been

(01:04):
feeling, you've been feelingdiscouraged or kind of
hesitating and wondering thefact that do I need to have a

(01:33):
large following in order to havea successful coaching business?
Today we're going to talk.
Thank you, grab people'sattention and get them excited
to buy from you should never bethe reason you give up on your
dream to become a full-timecoach.
I'm all about making marketingthe easiest part of your
coaching business, so that youcan turn a passion for coaching
into a visible and profitablereality.

(01:56):
So, buckle up ladies, let's getstarted.
Let's talk about the myth thatmore followers means more
success.
I mean, we all heard that fromsocial media, scrolling through
all these successful coaches.
Who's encouraging you to growthat audience?
And you need more followers andyou need to reach out to more

(02:19):
people.
But when you look at what youactually have, you'll probably
have 200 followers or 300followers, and the majority of
them are probably from all thefriends and families or
colleagues that you havecollected over the years in your
previous career.
And so there's this myth aboutaudience size that we need to
talk about.

(02:39):
Well, think of it.
Size that we need to talk aboutWell, think of it If you can
have thousands of followers, butif they're not actually paying
attention, engaging your contentor heck the algorithm on
Facebook and Instagram and evenon LinkedIn or YouTube
everywhere it's being controlledby how they want to present

(03:02):
your content to their audience, rather than having this agenda
about you and promoting you.
So, even though that you mayhave a large followers, but in
reality, there's only 1% ofthose followers are actually
paying attention to what you putout there and therefore, even
with the 200 followers that youhave, maybe there's two of them

(03:26):
are actually actively engaging.
So when you grow that size andthis is where that number comes
in right Larger the followers, better the engagement, for the
fact that only 1% of youraudience is going to pay
attention and to be able toactually watch your content.
So if you do the math, 200followers and 1% of that would

(03:47):
be two people would be engagingyour content.
So when you grow an audiencesize to 3,000 followers, then
maybe you get 30 people.
Who's actually looking atseeing your content, as the
social media algorithm ispushing out to them, as the
social media algorithm ispushing out to them.
So your business kind of relyon this algorithm.

(04:10):
A statistic of how much arethese people are actually going
to engage and see your content.
And I know a coach who recentlyhad 100 people on her email
list but she generated $10,000just from that 100 people on her
list.
How Well, because she continuedto nurture that 100 people and
building a relationship withthem so that she earned the

(04:33):
trust, she earned what she had,the time that she had put in,
and so, of course, 100 followersis also very likely to give you
and generating $10,000 as yourrevenue.
So there's that myth aboutsmall audience size.
Therefore you cannot besuccessful, which is completely

(04:54):
untrue.
Key number two is here's why asmall audience will actually
give you a little more advantage.
Now think about it 3,000followers versus 200 followers
how much time do you actuallyhave to engage with the
followers to have thatone-on-one conversation?
Probably you spend less timehaving conversation with the 200

(05:17):
people than you would have withthe 3,000 followers, correct?
And so even when your audiencesize grow to a point where it
may look massive, it may lookreally impressive, but in
reality, how many people areactually having conversation
with you?
Probably not many, right?
And this is why, a lot of time, you'll see people tagging

(05:40):
Facebook groups or at everyonein Facebook group, and it's
easily getting ignored becausethat only creates a lot more
noise for a lot of people.
So every time you get tagged, you get this notification on
your mobile device or yourcomputer.
Well, that's just another tag,and so it's not the best

(06:03):
strategy to actually call forthe attention if you want to
have conversation with someoneAfter a while.
It's like crying wolf, right,if you tag me so many times, I'm
just going to simply ignoreanything that's important.
Then it's easily get unnoticed.
So here's the advantage of why asmaller audience actually work

(06:24):
better in your favor.
Because of that size number.
It gives you more uniqueadvantage because now you can
actually reach out toindividuals on a weekly basis.
Let's say, you engage 10 peoplethis particular week and you
rotate another 10 set of peopleyou have in conversation with
them, and so you continue to dothat for the next 20 days.

(06:47):
You have reached entire 200followers on your social media
list, and so it's a much easierway and more time efficient way
to build that connection, building deeper bonds and
building actually meaningfulrelationship, right?
So instead of sending them abulk messages to all 3000 people

(07:10):
, now you can focus on buildingthat relationship with 10 people
this week, 10 people next week,10 people the following week,
and if you do that consistentlyfor the next 20 days or the next
month, you actually build avery meaningful relationship and
you might be surprised how muchbenefit you can actually
receive from making moreconnection without even too much

(07:34):
of the time and effort.
So number one key benefit ofhaving a small audience size is
obviously you have that personaltouch.
You have that personalconnection with each and every
single one of them.
Number two is that there's lessnoise.
So earlier I talked about howFacebook tagging becomes a noise
in the social media world, andit's like crying wolf, right, if

(07:57):
you cry wolf so many times, then it's easily getting
overlooked or ignored becausepeople are just so tired of
getting notified every timeyou're trying to promote or sell
them something, and so itbecomes less noise.
When you have a smalleraudience, you can stay more
focused.
If you have something topromote, you know exactly who

(08:18):
might be a better fit, becauseyou already have that
conversation with them in thefirst place.
And number three is you buildthat trust and loyalty.
When you have one-to-oneconversation with these
individuals who's on yoursmaller size audience, you
actually create that bonding, create that trust, and people
feel more connected to you.

(08:38):
They want to help you topromote things, they want to
help you out, they want tosupport you, so it's more likely
that they will comment on yournext post than if you have 3,000
followers who don't even knowwho the heck you are.
And so these are the threeadvantages of why having a small
size audience would actually bein your favor.

(09:00):
Anytime you're trying to marketsomething or promoting your
course or your membership orjust your business overall.
Small but mighty.
Every followers, everysubscriber, every email address,
they become people who say, yes, I want to hear from you and
that is a gift, and treat itlike one Key point.

(09:24):
Number three is how to leveragea small audience for the big
result.
These are the three tips that Ihave personally used when I was
growing my audience, myfollower.
If you follow me for so long orif you have been following me
on my social this is a storyI've talked about all the time

(09:44):
is when I first started out.
I only have 200 followers on myFacebook, on my Instagram and
basically across all theplatform.
It was small but very mighty.
Some of my early paying clientsfrom my coaching business
actually came from thesefollowers and they were
following me because every timeI put out something, it spoke to

(10:07):
them, it was resonating, itmade them feel like they're part
of my world.
And so just because that 200follower, it doesn't mean that
you won't be successful.
It's a great way to start andif you have nothing else that

(10:27):
you are focusing on in 2025,what I would encourage you to
focus on is actually nurturingyour audience and reconnecting
with all the people who's onyour social.
If your audience size is sosmall Now, once you reach to a
larger audience, then thestrategy would be a little
different, which we'll cover inanother episode.
But in this particular episode,I want to focus on those of you

(10:49):
who have a smaller follower.
Maybe you have a smaller emaillist, maybe you have a smaller
social media followers.
These are the people that youwant to nurture, to connect.
Think of it as attending anetworking event in person.
These are the people who'sgoing to send you word of mouth.
These are the people who'sgoing to send you more referral
if you're looking for morespeaking engagement.

(11:11):
I'll tell you one quick story.
Just earlier in the year, I hadsomeone who, one of the fellow
speakers who had reached out tome.
Year I had someone who one ofthe fellow speakers who had
reached out to me and shereferred me to another
conference event because she'sbeen following on my social.
And so just because someone isnot your client doesn't mean

(11:32):
that the opportunity is notthere.
So you definitely want toconsider nurturing your audience
and keep them engaged, keepthem entertaining, keep them
connected, because that is howyou get the referral, whether
it's your coaching clients or aspeaking engagement.
So what are the three thingsthat you can?
How to leverage?

(11:53):
How you can leverage using asmall audience so that you can
get bigger results.
Number one is you every timeyou create any content, you
definitely want to speakdirectly to them.
You want to talk about thethings that they connect with.
Just imagine, anytime you putout anything, it's like having
that one-on-one conversationwith them.
So use their language, addresstheir specific needs, their

(12:16):
problem.
How do you make them feel seen?
And that's very important inbuilding that connection in the
first place.
Number two how to leverage asmall audience so that you can
get bigger result is you want toengage with authenticity.
So in my previous episode Ibelieve it was on my YouTube
channel I talked about theauthenticity, and that's really

(12:38):
important because how you showup on social is how you show up
in the real life.
And that's really importantbecause how you show up on
social is how you show up in thereal life.
And that's really importantdistinction, because I think a
lot of us, when we first enterthe social media world, we think
that, oh, I need to create thisbranding, I need to position
myself as expert.
So there's a disconnect betweenwho you are in real life versus

(12:58):
who you are on social.
But reality is, social media isjust another way of how we show
up, whether it's in person orvirtually.
So I highly suggest that if youshow up on social, you do show
up with your personality, because that is going to allow
you to make better connectionand deeper that meaningful

(13:21):
relationship.
Tip number three of how toleverage this is number three.
Tip number three of how toleverage a small audience for a
bigger result is you want tofocus on the result, right, the
relationship building, and notso much of how many I can reach
out to in order to satisfy mynumber, in order to meet my

(13:42):
number, in order to meet my goal.
So, instead of thinking that Ineed to grow my audience, focus
on what you currently have.
A lot of us do so much becausewe're thinking this is not
enough.
But what if, with a shift ofmindset, you're looking at it
from the abundance perspective?
Right, what you have is alreadyenough.

(14:04):
Now, what can you leverage fromwhat you already have, even
with just 10 people on your list, even with just one person.
If you can inspire one personon your list, then your job is
done right.
That one person becomes yourloyal fan.
That person is going to go outand tell your story and that

(14:25):
person is going to promote yourbusiness for you even when
you're not there.
And when you build thatconnection with just that one
person, now you have grew yoursize to two people who's talking
about your business yourselfand that person that you
continue to build relationshipwith.
And so, if you think about now,I'm only using two, two people.

(14:45):
So hopefully you're having moreconversation with other people
and that number just multiplyright.
So you always want to nurturethat relationship, build that
bond, so that someone else cantell you a story for you, that
someone else can tell your storyfor you even when you are not
there, and that is the power ofhaving a small audience to reach

(15:06):
a big result Now.
So I want you to ask yourself,if your audience stays the same
next year, how would youmaximize your impact with the
people who's already on yourlist, whom you already have?
What would you do differentlyfrom this year?
Okay, now let's talk aboutreimagining this potential, this

(15:32):
list.
Now, if you, your impact comesfrom how well you show up, serve
and connecting.
So if you stop focusing on thenumber, you stop focusing on oh,
I need to post so many times inorder to get this number.
I need to reach out to thismany people in order to do this.

(15:53):
What if all you focus on is howI am going to show up with my
powerful message and I'm goingto deliver that so that someone
else will remember, carry withthem, so that when they leave
the room, they can continue totell my story for me?
Now, if this idea resonates withyou, stick around, because I

(16:16):
have some upcoming trainingsession that will dive deeper
into how you can leverage whatyou already have to grow a
business that feels reallyaligned and becomes so impactful
that you would not believe howeasy it is.
And you get to do this beyondsocial, and I'll just leave you

(16:38):
the sneak peek on that.
You will be seeing more of thisinformation coming up in the
next couple of weeks, but as wewrap up, here's the takeaway I
want you to walk away with today.
If you have a small audience, small is not a limitation.
It's actually an opportunityyour opportunity to build that

(16:59):
trust, create deeper connectionand grow your business in ways
that actually feel personal andimpactful.
And in the beginning I talkedabout the story of how I only
have 200 followers across all mysocial media platform.
But those two small mightylists it helped me to create
bonds that a lot of thesecoaches that I have served.

(17:22):
They continue to stay in myworld.
They continue to talk about mybusiness even when I am not
there.
So just think about it andthink about how you can use that
and leverage it in yourbusiness.
And stop thinking about I needto have a Facebook group of
3,000 followers in order toreach to a six to seven figure

(17:43):
coaching business.
That is not true.
