For yourself a favorite dream.
And let's make your coachingbusiness visible.
(03:49):
You probably heard two extremes,of course you need a website,
or forget the website, just getclients.
I get this question a lot.
Do I actually need a website toget started to have clients?
And here's the thing thatnobody tells you about your
website in your coachingbusiness.
(04:10):
That is not the problem.
It's not whether or not youhave one.
The problem is what do youactually do with it?
And for most new coaches, theanswer is not much.
That's what we're going to talkabout today, so be sure to stay
(04:33):
around.
Hit the subscribe button if youhave not already done so.
Today we are going to talk aboutwhether or not you need to have
a website to get started, toget clients to do whatever it is
that you want to do in yourcoaching business.
You might be thinking aboutputting your website together.
If you're just starting out, orif you got a couple of years
(04:56):
into your business and youfinally put your website into
the world.
You want it to look pretty.
You're probably choosing yourfavorite color, your good
pictures, and then what do youdo at the end, once it's created
, it's probably just sittingthere and you wait.
(05:16):
So nobody else knows about yourwebsite besides your friends
and family that you have sharedto a few, and the rest of the
time you're just hoping thatsomeone will stumble upon it,
like it's a lemonade made on aquiet street and somehow
somebody drove around is goingto discover oh, there's a
(05:36):
lemonade stand, and that is whatyou do with that website.
Or you might have thought aboutI'm going to run some Google ad
.
Love that idea.
Google ad.
It's not that simple.
You have to be crystal clear onyour keywords, how people are
searching for answers and the adsetup.
(05:56):
It's just very complicated.
So, if we're really going to bereal, most coaches are not
setting it up for that way.
So what happened?
You either leave your websitesitting like a digital
tumbleweed it's just hanging outon the internet, or you're
paying hundreds, if notthousands, to have an expert to
set up your Google ad so that itcan show on top of the Google
(06:19):
search, and on top of that, hundreds of dollars to set up
the Google app.
You had already spent it tobuild that website.
So now your website is not justa $500 or $200 investment, it's
a $2,000 investment.
At the end of the day, it's amoney pit.
And listen, if you got thatkind of money to burn, by all
(06:50):
means go for it.
But if you're trying to worksmarter, keep your business lean
and get paying clients beforeyou start playing with the
expensive marketing toys, thenthe real question is not do I
need a website?
The real question is not do Ineed a website?
The real question is am I readyfor one?
Do I have the words to put onit that actually attract the
(07:10):
right clients?
And this is where most coachesI meet are at.
Their niche is still wobbly.
The offer is either too genericor too complicated.
It makes people even moreconfused.
But if you ask what will yourclient actually walk away with
when they are done working withyou, they can't really say it in
(07:32):
one clear sentence.
So the answer comes down to not.
Do I need a website?
It's more like when I need awebsite.
I need a website.
It's more like when I need awebsite.
Let's talk about exactly whenyou should have it.
It's usually when you got thefoundation locked in.
(07:53):
Do you have a niche?
Is it clear?
You know how to articulate yourcoaching package, not just by
stating the number of sessionsor how long is it going to be
when you have those foundationsclear.
That is when your website isgoing to stop being a money pit
and start being your businessgoal home base.
(08:16):
When you can have a clear nicheand you know how to articulate
your coaching package.
You started to reach a coupleof things.
One consistency Now you have asystem in place where your
website is going to give peoplea place to land.
It's not just hanging outfreely on the internet and
trying to get people's attention.
(08:37):
You know exactly how to drivethe traffic so that people will
go and visit your website, andyou know when you're going to
share your website.
So, to have that consistency, the second thing you're going to
be able to achieve is yourcredibility.
Now, at this point, you'reprobably going to start pitching
to your podcast, speaking atevents or even hosting your own
(09:00):
workshop, or maybe you'resending in proposals to
companies.
You need to have a clean, professional website that makes
you look like you are the realdeal, and that is when you want
to start building and thinkingabout your website.
You don't want to send thesepodcasts or speaking opportunity
, or even the corporateenvironment and companies, to a
(09:22):
website that you're stillwishy-washy and your niche is
still wobbly and you don't havea clear offer that you can
articulate on your website.
That just doesn't look veryprofessional.
The third thing that you knowyou're ready to have this
website is, once you have nailedyour messages and your website,
become your 24-7 spokespersonon the internet and while you're
(09:45):
sleeping, someone can actuallyread your about me page, check
out your offer and decide, yep, she's a coach for me and I am
going to book a call right here.
When you are at this stage, your website doesn't just look
pretty.
It actually brings you clientbecause it is rooted in a
(10:06):
message that was tested, thatyou have tried, and not just
throwing stuff together andputting everything together.
So yeah, eventually you do needto have a website.
Yeah, eventually you do need tohave a website.
So now that we know when wouldbe a good time for you to
actually have your website done, let's talk about what exactly
(10:31):
do you focus on.
First, let's say you are stillquite new, on the beginning of
your journey, or maybe you're acouple of years into your
business, and maybe you havealready couple years into your
business and maybe you havealready put up this website and
it's just sitting there, it'snot doing much for you and
you're just feeling discouraged.
You're not sure where to begin.
(10:51):
So before you blow any morebudget on the color, on
rebranding, focus on this.
This First of all, ask yourselfcan you explain what you do in
one clear sentence?
Can you describe your client'sproblem better than they can?
(11:12):
And can you tell me right nowwhat your clients actually get
when they finish working withyou?
If any of the answers to theabove question is, then your
website can wait, whether youwant to rebrand it, you want to
do it again, you want to do itover.
(11:33):
Just put it on the whole anddon't worry about it for now.
Okay, what you need at thisstage is to have conversation.
What you want is you want totest your message out loud with
real people, with real audience.
So get yourself out there.
Forget about the website.
Don't send people onto thewebsite.
(11:55):
Send them to your calendar.
The second thing you want tofocus on is you want to making
your offer, making your package.
Offer your package or serviceto those you're having
conversation with and get acouple of clients coming in so
that you can provide, you cancoach them, you can provide them
with the result that they'rewalking away with, and this is
(12:17):
what we call a niche validation.
What you want to do is you wantto get out there and validate
that this is a niche with amarket where there's going to be
people who want to buy, andthis way your message will
actually resonate with peopleand by then, you can then have
(12:40):
the clarity to put it onto yourwebsite.
And then you can start workingon the rebranding, if you want
to, or simply update yourmessaging on your website, and
that website, I promise you isgoing to do a better job than if
you're just trying to throweverything together and it
sounds generic, the offer looksgeneric and it really doesn't
(13:03):
show your personality at all.
You don't want that.
You want to start with yourniche validation first, so that
you can get out there andvalidate this is actually
something that people want tobuy.
How do you do that?
You start with yourconversation.
How do you do that?
You start with yourconversation.
So, going back to do youactually need a website?
It's the wrong question to ask.
(13:27):
The right question to ask isare you ready for one?
And if you're not sure whatstage of your coaching business
you're at, I actually created atwo-minute coaching business
assessment.
It's going to show you whereyour business is right now and
what to focus on next, so thatyou're not wasting your time or
(13:47):
your money on the wrong thing.
Plus, I'm going to send you acustomized resource based on
your current stage of yourcoaching business so that you
can focus on working on whatactually matters.
If you want to take theassessment, simply go to
quizcoachingbizbuildercom, orthere's a link in the
(14:09):
description box down below.
Yeah, so the short answer, whether or not.
Do you need a website.
Yes, eventually you do need tohave a website, but only when it
is the megaphone for a messagethat has already proven to
attract the right people.
Otherwise, you can easily dothis with just one page white
(14:32):
paper in a PDF format, so thatyou can focus on having the
conversation rather than adigital place to collect dust.
And if you like this episode,be sure to hit that subscribe
button and share this with acoach who needs to hear about it
.
Until then, keep coaching and Iwill see you in the next
episode.
