Speaker 1 (00:01):
Put your clothes on, Fatty, You're not the island Hota
dam Fatty wants.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
To see your junk. That was Jeff Probs to everyone,
Jeff Probe sing a song called put your clothes on,
Fatty on what platform? So, and this is what we're
gonna get into because everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, welcome to the first episode of Making the Merged
time Machine.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
I was thinking, you know, I was like, we're gonna
do a new theme song. I was thinking, like like back.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
To the Future music singing. Yeah, all right, So I
was just let's probably end up getting an official theme
song for this show eventually. But because this episode is
the we're gonna be breaking down the first episode of
Survivor Cook Island.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Cook Island, For what reason did you feel the need
to start with the Jeff Probe's fat shame?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Because Jeff Probes did an episode of Mad TV to
promote Cook Islands the Race War season, where he proceeded
to put out a bunch of songs, one of which
we'll get to in a moment is the most racist
thing I've ever heard.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Okay, and I think we should go ahead and address this. Yes,
we're gonna talk about this a lot. You called it
the race war season. I don't know if I would
like to call it that. Every time we talked.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
About we call it occasionally. And I think it's also
important to bring up the fact that in Fast and Furious,
too okay, they're too fast, too fast, too furious. I
think it's too fast to Furious. Yeah, because so too fast,
too furious. You know, Vin Diesel's barely in that movie.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
They go to a race. What's the race called? Race?
Is it really fun? So?
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I don't know how that's related to this season of Survivor,
but if it might, they can do it, we can
do it.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
It wouldn't surprise me. We didn't do this three white
guys talking about Survivor. Didn't you come up racially ambiguous?
Is what I prefer.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
I just think they did this to themselves, the folks
that Survivor did this to them.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So it gets crazy and we're gonna talk about it.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
And the fans of our show did this to us,
and we gave them four options and they're like, we're
gonna make them talk about the split them up by
race season.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
So and I'm bummed because I was three episodes end
of this season when the vote took place, and so
then I had to stop.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Brand go ahead and say your thoughts on do you
think it was a good idea to separate the tribes
by race? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:45):
I did.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Great tv PD, What.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Do you think I also, I think it made for
a good It made for a compelling season. A lot
of great characters came out of this one.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
No one in their heart of hearts hates this idea
for a television show.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Here's a season of Survivor. I loved it when I
first went to it. Every season, right.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
No, but the reason why I loved it the first
time I watched through this was because I was like,
usually we only get one to two Asian people or
black people.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Tops. I'm glad you brought that up because that was
Jeff Probe's argument. Okay, so why don't we go ahead
and I'm gonna I'm gonna give a little backstore out here.
We're gonna have a lot to talk about this episode
before we even start into the episode, because it's bat
insane everything that happens before this. Okay, we might spend
more time on this than that episode. Yeah. So basically,
(03:38):
this season was announced at the live finale of the
previous season, like always, Immediately it started causing backlash online.
There were rumors that sponsors were pulling out, like it
was a big deal. It was a hot topic. What
year was this. It was season seventeen, so season so
this would have been I think, oh six.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Okay, this is the first one I remember watching on TV.
You watched it love, yes, yeah, two thousand and six,
so this is my third time watching this season.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
So immediately controversy. Right before the season airs, Jeff Probes
does a press run to try to defend the show
and to you know, convince people to still watch.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
And he still wouldn't come on our podcast. It's unbelievable.
I was seven years old when this happened. Hey, Jeff,
you think it's a good idea.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
So this is this clip that brand's about to play.
It's a little it's about a minute and a half long.
This is Jeff defending the season. Why they did it
to the view? Oh, go ahead and go ahead hit it, Brandon.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Okay, we were getting bored, We were we were running
out of ideas that were really fresh. One of the
ideas that came up is what are we criticized for?
We're criticized all the time for the show not being
representative of America being too white.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
That's true. So then put blacks and whites on the
same team, just bring.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
More diversity, and why do they have to be separated, Like, well,
that's one American.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
That was original idea was let's just have a very
ethnically diverse cast, in Mark Burnett's words, the biggest in
the history of TV. It was when we started bringing
people in and started talking that we realized as as
as a group, Hispanic culture, there's a lot of pride,
there's a lot of ethnic prize. The Olympics.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Yes, didn't you.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Lose a lot of advertisers because of this concept?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (05:21):
That is absolutely, to the best of my knowledge, been misinformation.
I was told GM, for instance, pulled out months before
we even came up with the creative decision to do this,
and we've got a full slatest sponsors. I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
I think it's a great idea. I don't know why,
but I think it would be interesting. You know, it
would be a bad idea. It would be to assume
that every single person in those groups is essentially a racist, right, Well,
it doesn't mean that they are. It's just that, you know,
we fought all.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Of these years for integration and now we have segregation
on television.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I just don't think it's right.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Well, here's what I get that. I get that the
initial reaction when you hear it. I understand the flinch
and like, well, I don't know if this is right
or not. That The feeling I have is he you
have to watch how we did it and what happens,
and b it's just like what you what what you
said about with Damon? You know, I'm uncomfortable watching that
and he said, that's why we're doing it, And you
guys have hot topics and it's uncomfortable to listen to
(06:15):
you guys.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
I don't know who the winner is, but if the
winner is white.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
And why yeah, exactly incorrect. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Would you like to know the funniest part of this?
You have to cut it off there, man, I'd listen
to that whole up. Would you like to know the
funniest part of that whole episode of you instead of us?
The funniest part about that episode of the view, all
of those four hosts, white ladies talking about how they
need they didn't add whoop yet? No, this is two
(06:48):
thousand and six, they had Rosy o'dos Did they have
Sharon Osbourne? No? No, it was before that too, Candice Cameron.
I don't know who that is. Elizabeth Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Dude, guys,
how much view did you? Guys? I don't know, but yeah,
Jeff is defending the race War Season four, White Women,
(07:09):
Daytime Television. Rosie, I don't love the idea.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Rosie loved the show. She was still a fan of
Survivor at this point. I assume every.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Plan was So here's some more backstory of how this
even happened, right, what would who came up with this
idea to separate the tribes by race? Well, there was
an email sent in to a different Survivor podcast several
several years ago, claiming to be someone that was like
involved in production back then. Okay, and this is what
that email essentially said. I can't wait, wait, hold on,
(07:40):
do you know what podcast? It was? Survivor historians. Okay,
and we believe this to be true from everything I
looked like, backed checking wise, they seem to take it
as a serious.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Historians are pretty uh yeah, trust it's not them that
I don't trust it because he's also he told me
Casey Anthony was going to be on Traders.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And but Chase. There was rumors going around that Casey
Anthony was gonna be on Trader. That'd be incredible. No,
it wouldn't be guys as the only one here from Florida.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
No, you don't get to speak for all of Florida.
I think Casey Anthony would be good on TV. It
sounds like okay.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Uh so, Mark, this is what the email essentially said.
Mark Burnett originally wanted the race separation idea for The Apprentice,
which was Donald Trump's reality shut it down, but NBC
mixed the idea because they did not want to risk
one of their few hit shows going down because of
a controversial twist. So CBS said, I we'll do it,
(08:49):
because they were far less reliant on Survivor's ratings because
of all of the other hit shows that they had
at the time. Jeff Probes agreed to the idea because
it was This was during the part where Jeff was
getting sick of Survivor and he wanted to be done
with it right, so he thought it would be a
good way to go out with a bang.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
This is what four or five seasons before he becomes
like an EP and it starts getting.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
It's before I think it's Gabond, I could get bone
gabone when he threatens to quit and they make him
an executive producer and show runner stuff. So he basically
wanted this to ruin the show. Supposedly, this is all
allegedly right. CBS's main worry was that they were going
to get to the Merge without any of the minority
(09:32):
groups present, and so that you know, that wouldn't be possible. Well,
that was their fear. This are the producers the higher ups,
right or very at the very least very little, Yeah, right, Yeah,
they didn't want it to be because I mean, how many.
So there's twenty castaways the merge, so yeah, ten people
(09:53):
make the merge, so it starts with six on each tribe, right, right,
So if you have six white guys at merge, five
on each. Yeah, we don't not do math anyway. That
was their fear. But Jeff was more than happy to
let things play out, because you know, I think he
was kind of one the ship we go down. CBS
and production were freaking out after some stuff that happens
(10:14):
in the first few episodes of the show. It got
to the point where even Jeff started to get worried
that maybe maybe this wasn't gonna just in survive, it
might ruin his career. Uh So there were very there
were many high level meetings about bringing in more producers
to figure out how to fix the show as it's shooting.
Can't do that. They thought about just ending production halfway
(10:37):
through the season, cutting all the contestants to check for
a million dollars to sign an NDA, and just riding
it out and being like, we're done. I don't know
if I believe this. There were several different sources that
said that kind of stuff, but a million to each
of them. Just now this next part. I don't understand
(10:59):
what Jeff was thinking. Okay, I don't understand what Jeff
if he wanted the show to get canceled, he was
doing good. But yeah, this song comes up. I mean, dude,
I can't so if.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
It's what I think it is, it is what I
brought to the uh probably the jeffisode. Yes, you recall
I brought each brought the most out of context Jeff
Probs quotes, and I brought a song that I is
related to this season.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I will lead into the song with this statement made
by Jeff promoting the new season. Mm hmm. As to
any incidents of bigotry, Jeff wouldn't comment, saying that's the
reason you would tune in to see how it all
plays out, and tune in. We shout this Thursday at
eight pm Eastern on CBS, and here's a.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
Song about this season's racially divided tribes that I sing
with my dear friend, Queen Latine.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Then she is taking down my head Latin solder to
them occasion.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Thank god there ain't no Indians because they's count for
you within the night.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Maybe this wasn't such a good.
Speaker 6 (12:12):
Idea My nails done?
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Where them girls from Korea? Dude, I'm very uncomfortable. It's crazy.
I only played the first part and hear the rest
of it. I was like, I got what I need.
Here's here's one thing I thought was interesting about it, Jeff,
make sure that the really racist lines are said by
the actress in this. It's nice that we had the equalizer.
(12:37):
It wasn't actually Queen Lava. It was a very very
very not nice depiction of Queen latinas was on Mad
the sketch ends with this Queen Latifa but not here
clapping him with her tits. Oh yeah, it's insane, Jeff.
(12:57):
This is bro an episode of Mad TV that's all
about promoting survivor Cook Islands Chase. You know, we want
CBS to like us. I don't care. They did this.
They did this, they did they I didn't do this, well,
Jeff did this the specific thing right? What shows this?
This is this?
Speaker 4 (13:13):
This proves the uh, I don't know how people they
contain multitudes because this same guy at some point decided
I won't say come on in guys anymore. Right right, right, right,
we contain multitudes. And clearly I think Jeff has uh.
I don't think Jeff would do this today, even if
it was like a thing that Mad TV was doing.
(13:37):
I think Jeff would be like, hey, maybe this isn't
He wouldn't do this today.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Not a great not a great bit, Grandpa, Jeff would
not do this.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I think that what the idea was, because Mad TV
did an entire episode in Cook Islands. I think the
idea was that they were going to try to be
in on the joke so that people be like, oh,
they know that it was a pretty crazy thing. To
do this. Like, so that's not even the craziest sketch
that comes out of that episode. There's a Matt TV sketch. Worst. Yeah,
(14:08):
I'm not gonna play the whole Mad TV sketches because
there were so many of them. They were very long.
But like I mean, you see Key and peel because
this is Matt TV's so keen peeler in these sketches
on the Black tribe, Bobby Lee, who is now extremely famous,
he was on the Asian tribe, and they're all perpetuating
stereotypes extremely Uh. Here, this is a sound drop from
the beginning of the episode where they're talking about survivor
(14:30):
Cook Islands. This is a comedian pretending to be Jeff
Probes hit it Brandon Boy, African Americans, Asian American, Mexican American,
and real American. It's just stuff like that constyle. Who
was the comedian? Dude, I didn't know that guy, but
he kind of looked like Jeff.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
You know what, let's react to that whole episode and
put it up behind a paywall and call it like
watch us die inside.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Yeah, dude, it's it's insane. So yeah, that's kind of
everything that I have when it comes to the Okay,
we're time the pre preseason. I've got some fun facts
that are less give me crazy, Yeah, give me that question.
So seventeen out of the twenty contestants were recruited for
(15:17):
this season, meaning they did not audition.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Something that apparently was a lot more, A lot more.
What's the word I'm looking for? Controversial?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Common? Common? Yep, a lot more. Who's that rapper? A
lot more common?
Speaker 4 (15:35):
In the early days of Surat they don't do it anymore,
but apparently a lot of players early on were recruited, Yes,
through like casting calls and like even through like I
think season thirty they were recruiting.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
It makes sense only Jenny, Stephanie and Cowboy auditioned for
the show. And here's a quote from Jeff about that situation.
Once we decided that we are going to have the
most ethnically diverse cast in the history of TV as
far as I know, it required us to go out
and find these people because we don't have many minorities
that applied to the show. I don't believe that. I
(16:09):
don't believe either. So we did go So this is
this is the part of May we left. So we
did go to church groups and went to cultural centers.
It was literally the biggest casting endeavor we've done in
thirteen seasons. We go into the Hispanic community and we
start finding people who think, Wow, Survivor sounds like a
very cool idea. You mean, I live on my own,
I get to build shelter and fish, and I could
win a million dollars the result of all that hard work.
(16:32):
This is the most fresh, diverse, interesting group of people
with completely varied backgrounds that I think we have had
since season one.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
What does Jeff going into the Hispanic community entail.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I don't know. It kind of sounds like they just
went to churches in predominantly like Hispanic areas areas and
we're like, hey, anybody want to be on the show.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
He's saying, I can't believe. He said, we just don't
have many minorities applying. I don't believe that, because at
this point Survivor.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Was a huge It was the biggest. It was like
on television.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
You're telling me the cultural phenomenon that was Survivor in
the early two thousands was only whites people watching.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
It is no way, no way. Yeah, I agree with you.
I have more fun facts but we can actually just
start getting into the episode.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Yeah, I mean, we could start with how much cooler
the intro is than it is you know the era.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
I mean, guys, I talked about it when we were
talking about like what we're hoping to see in sixty fifty,
and it is this type of intro, Like I don't
know how you watch Survivor and look at one season
where it's this mad dash off a boat.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Got a paddles to the island versus hey, you in
the front, what's your name?
Speaker 4 (17:47):
And be like the beach introductions way like it's not
better TV.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
It's just not And for like, I don't I don't.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Know the reasoning behind moving away from this type of
opening to a season, but whatever it is, Jeff is
lying to himself if he says that it's better TV,
it's just fundamentally not.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Better to And I don't even well, so I do
know that the reason they do they don't give the
cast anything up front anymore, Like in this one they
got handed chickens and tools.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Oh yeah, but it's twenty six days versus thirty nine, right,
so they don't do that anymore.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
So maybe the thought was, like it feels redundant to
just throw them off a boat and make them swim
to shore. But I would rather to watch.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I like it better than they all just show up
and then like stand before Jeff they're God and praise him.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Because it's not even like it's not even every season
starts off with hey, here's some supplies, grab and get them.
Some of them is just hey, here's a map. That's
good luck getting to your thing, or they could even
do that be the first challenge. Yeah, it is a
race to the shore, That's what I'm saying, Like, that's
the type of thing we need to start season fifty with.
It feels like Originals, but you have like all these
(19:01):
different players from different seasons, half of which new Era.
But and it's like but it still at least gives like, hey,
we're celebrated, like and we all know we're still gonna
have some of those challenges that we've become familiar.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
With and new Era and that's fine, but to like
at least incorporate the way that they can start the.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Chaos allows for something like Jonathan Penner to steal Yule's chicken.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Stole the chicken, stole the chicken.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
But it's a great great intro, great opening, and like
there's something so fun about the chaos going on around.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Jeff probes as he walks on the boat and it's.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Like, look, well we've done this season. It's gonna be wild.
Like it's great, it's.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
So fun, Like it's just so chaotic, and then you.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Have Jeff acting like there's nothing going on around and
it's just awesome.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
I liked when he was when there was two people.
Time was up and there's still like two people on
the boat and he was like.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Get overboard, ye, get overboard, and I for what it's
worth the the mad TV when he's talking about the
four tribes, yeah, I literally did write down that.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Jeff paused before saying African Americans.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
There's a lot of African guess there's a lot like
that this episode.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
But there were a couple of good quotes while they
were like on their way to their islands. So Ozzie,
he said, my first thought when I saw the tribes
were split right along racial lines, I said, God, this
is going to be hard. And then we had poverty
saying different ethnic groups. Is that kosher? I don't know,
but it's a cool social experiment.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
I think when they were doing that little segment where
they were they essentially took one person from each tribe
and was like, what do you think about this season?
You could tell that Yule did not with this idea. Yeah,
he like he said that he was afraid it was
going to perpetuate stereotypes or characters of the different races. Brother.
He did not look happy. But and then we got
(20:58):
Cowboy doing the stereo right meet Cowboy Bud. And then
Jenny also was not like the whole uh. I can't
remember the name of the tribe, but the Asian trupe.
They did not enjoy the fact because they just found
out on the boat. But it didn't seem like super
upset about it. I think that they were trying to
(21:19):
be cool, but it seemed like they were not happy
about it, which I don't think I would have been
happy about it. Cowboys pumped.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Cowboys, Cowboys doing great. Get to teach these kids stuff,
It's gonna be great. Cowboys hilarious.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
And I also love.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Ozzy gets on the island and within five minutes finds
a tree to close. It's like, let me show showcase
my skills. Right here, right now is my favorite survivor
player of Bolt. I hear a lot of hype about
and this is my early hot take. I hear a
lot of hype about Ozzie currently I don't get it. Yeah,
and like I, I have seen two more episodes from
(21:54):
this season and I don't get it yet. But I'm
ready to be blown away by all that Aussie is.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Remember he does several seasons, so it doesn't necessarily even
mean that this.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
When I felt the same way about Boston Robb the
first season Boston Robbers, and I was like, I don't
understand why everybody's freaking out about Boston Robb.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
But then all stars just like oh, and then you're like, oh,
this guy's he's the greatest guy. Yeah. Did you not
see him climb the tree? I saw him, yes, of course,
very impressively. That you were hook line Sinker who was
kicking the coconuts with his feet holding onto the branches,
with his Billy's fumbling around. You know, he's like, I'm
gonna make a toilet. I climbed trees. You know what
(22:35):
was Billy.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
He's like the first thing Billy said is I'm gonna
make a toilet.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna It was like all right, guys,
when you start making a shelter, I don't know how
to make a toilet. Yeah, everybody's looking like what He's like,
I'll show you how to do it later, But you know, Billy,
I I that was Billy's first mistake is going on
the island and the first acting like.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
He knows how to do things, but then clearly not
knowing how to do things. It's like the opposite approach
of people who are natural leaders, but they're like, I'm
not gonna lead because I don't want to be a target.
Billy's like, I know I can't do this, but I'm
going to tell them that I can and hope.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
That they keep me around for for a while. Would
you guys like to know some behind the scenes stuff
about Billy Garcia. I know that I'm gonna I hope
to get him on the show. Yeah. I want to
talk to Billy more than anything in the world. So
I followed him earlier, trying to get his attention. Great
great T shirts. I think it's feasible because Billy Garcia
not only is he in like a metal band, metal
(23:38):
bands still touring, he is a former professional wrestler who,
in fact, he had a Survivor wrestling match with Johnny
Fairfa and I've got a link to it here. It's
a full match. Wow, well this is like a ten
minute How long did they go? It's a two minute
highlight reel. I don't know how long you go. It's
a tag team mess. Three minutes. It couldn't have been
(24:00):
more than five. Here's what's interesting. So it's Billy Garcia
and he's teaming up with mister Terrific whoever that is.
Johnny Fairplay is teaming up with mis or wonderful coach
Dodson and interesting. I mean, we see them bumping around.
They took some bumps. Fair Play and Billy Garcia they're
(24:20):
they're they're wrestling for real, and it's hilarious. It's so bad.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
We need a list of all the things like related
to this season for us to put up in the Patreon.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I'd watch a match, Yeah, I watched the match. Yeah,
we'll do a Patreon exclusive React episode where we can
watch that stuff. I got it all right here. But
I also have another fun fact about Billy. But I'm
gonna wait till we talk about the first challenge.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah, or we could wait until we get him on
the show, manifesting that.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
But I do think early on Jonathan is a favorite
for me.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Jonathan Pinner, though, who I knew, is the guy who
plays fran Jesher's husband in the first episode of The Nanny.
Sure h, he's an awesome player. He steals the chicken.
As we've talked about it, I thought it was very
funny when he talks about stealing the chicken. He's very
careful to say that he stole the chicken from the
Green team. He doesn't want to say Asian team. He
(25:10):
kind of hesitated for the Green team. And then what
was was it? Flicka? Dudey? What was so amazing? Right?
He steals a chicken? We put chickens under box. It
is they reproduced quickly because they got two chickens. I
(25:32):
think they had one and then they stole one. Does
anyone know her real name? Flickah?
Speaker 4 (25:39):
And for some reton I still don't know why Flicka
goes over and just lives from the box to take
up and then it's like, flick would you like far away.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Screaming in third person?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
I like, and no one there's no like in interview
or confessional about what she.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Was thinking no. But we do get a confessional from
Pinner about what he thinks about it, and he goes,
he's very upset. He goes, I'm very upset with Flicka,
and you know I can forgive her or maybe I won't.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, Flicka, I liked when they met. And she's like,
my friends call me Flicka. And he goes, oh, yeah,
I like that my friend Flicka. That's easy to remember
or something like that. Yeah, yeah, I think it's a movie,
is it? Because then she goes, I've never seen that movie.
Oh well, I hope I've never seen that, Flick. I
think it was just a bad pun.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Oh we could someone google my friend Flicka, I mean
someone in the common week. We gotta, we gotta. It's
a movie. I'm assuming she.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Had the nickname Flicka before the Yeah, for sure, for sure.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
But it's based on the children's novel My friend Flicka. Well,
there you go. That novel is from nineteen forty one,
and guys, we're gonna read that for the Patriot. Oh
it's funny. I did love.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Pet Poverty is her name? Poverity Parity. Poverty was like
when they show up and they're like, yeah, we we
kicked ass today and then Jonathan's like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Can we talk about that for a second.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
And I love when people do that, when somebody says
something like, hey, I really think you like we did
a good job, and they're.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Like, let's talk about that, and they're like, that's what
I did.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
I was doing here, but can we talk about that
for a second, and then they proceed to cut away
and don't let them talk about it for a second.
But that was that was great, And I will say I.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
You know, it's tough.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
It's tough to hear five white people chant whities that
I was just flicking.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
It was just she's like to get it. She tries
to get something started. Yeah, and why man don't love it?
I mean, so that was first day for Flick. They're
in an uncomfortable situation that they didn't they were just
like they just found out about. So I can see
how that's difficult the other tribes. That's not how you
(28:11):
handle it, handle it by going whitey.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
We need to talk about cowboy now on the green team,
on the Green team.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
On the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Incredible Cowboys, awesome, he can heal headaches, he survived.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Can we talk about that? I haven't stopped thinking.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
Yet.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I'm talking about that for a second.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
I haven't stopped thinking about cowboy uh getting the bad wind.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
By doing whatever and then just pulling it out of
like the tip of the nose, and it worked. What
I thought it was so funny about it works was
like he would be talking about it and he would
make it sound like it's crazy, right, he's got the
bad wind. But then he would also back it up
with science, did he Yeah, So he'd be like he'd
be like, yeah, it really happens because the sinuses. It'll
(29:05):
be like it's not in the back of the heads,
not the eyes, the sinuses, and then you and so
he's doing like real science where he's like, oh yeah,
he's massaging the science.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
It's like when he starts going like he's going all yeah,
and I don't even remember what the guy's name is,
but he doesn't try to stop him at all. Like
the first time somebody does that to the top of
my nose, I'm gonna be like, hold lot, like what
are you doing?
Speaker 2 (29:30):
He just lets it happen, getting the bad window his
name Sean it might being the bad Windows. Should look
that up because I don't want to get it wrong,
but yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
The bad somebody tell me have after seeing this episode?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Did it?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Has anyone tried to cure a headache a bed getting
the bad wind out through that way and did it work?
Speaker 5 (29:50):
No?
Speaker 2 (29:50):
I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it. And how
is the like what's the trade out?
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Like they're sure the headache's gone, but you got the
indicator for a day or two.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
I wondered if it was two things. You know, one
belief is a powerful thing. That's true, But I wasn't
sure he was buying.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah he didn't. He did seem skeptical, but like when
he was young, I mean, it was crazy, is it? Brad?
Is that his name? Brad? Is that okay?
Speaker 4 (30:14):
But if you go if you're like, my head hurts,
but then you like punch someone in the nose.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Now all you're thinking about is the pain in your mouth?
Would be my second theory. That's not a bad theory.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yeah, so that's the next time somebody gets a headache,
just to be like, hey, can you just punch me
in the gut and like, let's just see if it
works get that bad wind out?
Speaker 3 (30:35):
The cowboys said, He said that they didn't have antibiotics
where he was from, so they just had to they
had to figure it out.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah, Which it seems like he's a very old school
kind of traditional guy, and he is a I mean,
he makes a good point. They several people make a
point in that tribe. I do think that the Green
Tribe was not happy about the situation because they just
lumped them up Asian Asian team, but they're all from different.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
And this since it's like lots of different cultures still
in one and they just said are the same, right, Yeah,
and then like come to find out episode one.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
No Team Latino. Sure, yeah, it's very true. But Cowboy,
I think makes a makes a stark difference.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
I think they're the most interesting tribe right now because
of that. Like you have, like I always love when
you have like this older player on Survivor that kind
of bucks against the system and you have this old
school guy with these four younger people and he's like,
I've gotta I gotta teach you a thing or two,
which is just really fun.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
It's just it's really he ends.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Up doing one of the smartest things I've ever seen
in Survivor, at least at the time.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah. Later on, Yeah, it's a little episode, but unless
you count the bad win thing is the smartest one.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
So you'll talking about cowboys, said, I wrote him off
as a kook, but in between the nonsense is gyms
and nuggets of information that are actually useful.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
I also loved when we go over to the and
African American tribe.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
I don't remember his name.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
He is the guy, the bigger guy. Oh h yes,
and he just needs a break.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
I need a break.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
And he goes over and he sits down and then
he just yells out.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
I need a broad guys. I thought he was. I
thought that whole tribe was doing a great job of
just getting along, being a great group.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yeah, he was so f Sandra had a quote that
I really liked when they were setting up the shelter
and stuff. She said, it's not just that we're black,
we're city slickers thrown into the barreness of life.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
That sounds so poetic. That's so funny about it because
they get along so well.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
And at first you go, you know, the producers are
probably like, well, they get along so well because they're
all the same race. But it's like, no, you all
pulled them from the same state. By the way, almost
every single person that was cast on this sea is
from California. Yeah, so they're all literally from the same place,
and they're all around the same aide. That makes the
whole thing seems like a facade. Yeah, I mean, obviously
(33:11):
Cowboy is not from California. He's from by Vietnam and
he lives in Virginia. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
All of the people that they recruited, turns out they
just went to one town. Yeah, it's just a different neighborhoods,
just one neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
And they were like, there's a fun people, right, So
I thought that was interesting because they're like, you know,
they get along so well. It's like, well, you pulled
them from the same place and they're all the same age.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
And did you guys catch what seku means?
Speaker 2 (33:38):
No, it means warrior and leader. Nice, And that's why
he took charge of the camp, I think to his detriment. Hey,
they built a nice shelter, they did, and they were
building a really bad one before he stepped into even
though he called it low income housing. Dude, speaking of
that tribe, Nate, is that his name, Nate Gonzales. Yes,
(34:04):
he is so charismatic as you think you'd be on
the other Hey, cut that cut, cut cut that. I
feel like PD has been the most safe this whole episode,
and then throws that one out. He's so charismatic it's
insane that he doesn't come back again for another season. Yeah,
and well, if we want to talk about something pretty
(34:25):
wild is none of the African American castaways from the
season ever returned, shocking deviment the Survivor the only returning
players which we get a lot of legends in this season.
Three White tribe members and then Ozzy. They return a bunch,
but no one else from the other tribe. Ozzi climbs trees.
I don't know, very exciting. What more do you need?
(34:47):
He climbs tree. You can just wait because you haven't
seen him in his prime. Brother. All I know is
about Ozzy. It's spoiler alert. Ozzie climbs trees and throws challenges.
Then that's what I know about.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
We've also talked you another thing, but that was after
whatever what else.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Do you want to do? I don't care about that.
All I know is Ozzie climb trees and throws challenge.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Now it's night time and I guess that's something that
happens on Cook Islands, but it doesn't happen on Phetus.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
We all know that. But pretty crazy that we got
to see them at night, right, We haven't seen that lately.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah, it is is pretty crazy. And there was a
showmance brewing because Candace were well, I mean, they were
all kind of next to each other, but.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
They were in Yeah, everybody knew they're snuggling.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I got a quote from Adam here.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Adam said, it does make the island more bearable to
have some good looking girls, great looking girls. I'm attracted
to Canvas a lot. He's a genius dude.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Yeah, the thing about Candace being in a showmance, it
kind of took me a back. I forgot about this
because the Candace I remember is when because she comes
back two more times. The third time that she comes out,
the most recent time she's on Blood versus Water with
her husband.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
And one thing that I want to ask you, guys
who have seen more seasons of Survivor than I have,
I'm more a lot, working.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Way more few more than guys, so many more. I'm
working on it, and I think I'm doing pretty good.
But the job because I'm doing something.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
So I started obviously with I've seen forty sixty eight
New Era, yes, seeing thirty thirty six Lives, And then
I go back and I start at the beginning, and
there is a lot of showmance. There's a lot of
like talking about how cute people are and like that
(36:42):
person's really hot, all this stuff where it's almost like
it doesn't exist in the later seasons, like it's like
a no no, like you're not allowed to even talk
about being attracted to somebody, not about So that's what
I was gonna ask, Like, point did that stop being
a thing?
Speaker 2 (37:02):
That there was a big scandal that happens in season
thirty nine. Okay, I believe where and I haven't seen
the season yet, but i've heard about it. Someone I
believe got ejected for like sexual harassment.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Okay, but keep in mind that also happened in What's
what season was that with the Yeah, yeah, but that
was that was when anything but that was no one cares.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Yeah, but this is consensual, So I mean there's no
rule against.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Oh yeah, are you allowed to I'm pretty sure. I
don't know. Maybe they just aren't interested in that, like
they're nerds. Now and yeah, everything's about strategy. It's like,
come on, it's just a virgin. Yeah, just that it
just now.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
Its like it's and we have longer than ever episodes.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
You would think at some point it would come up.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
But in that at least the three New Era seasons
that I've seen, it has not been a thought.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
In Austin, I haven't seen d season. Yeah, kind of
a kind of a show man's and they and she
slits his throat. We go to the most exciting part
of the show.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Everybody's favorite part of the everybody's favorite part of the
time machine.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Guys, it is challenge time. So I'm not going super
in depth on the challenge. Basically, it's an I did.
It's a community and reward challenge. You get like some
fishing gear and stuff and some flint if you come
in second. What's interesting is there's four tribes. Four doesn't
happen often.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Seeing that many people. It's pretty crazy like that, and
not have to get covered in mud.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Yeah, it was also interesting that how are they gonna
get birthed into the season of.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
A different way? Fire and I actually have a really
interesting fact about that. That's my whole thing this season.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
I got fund that's Chase.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Chase took a masterclass on something and he's like, I'm
a fun fact. It's just he's a survivor for historian, right, Yeah,
I nerd out on the history. Well, I guess I
can't use that because that's a podcast.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Actually, just listen to that podcast transcribes and then reads
it verbados.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
I didn't I got good stuff this week? Guys? What
I did? I texted p D last night and I
was like, I had a long damn and go to bed.
And then three hours later I was like I ended
up deep diving all of the history of Yeah, like this,
this kind of thing lights Chase up. Well that's the.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
Problem, Like with not having seen the season, I can't
google this.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Me twice only three times. That's important. I can't google
the season. Uh, don't worry, becuse that's what I'm here for. Okay, thanks,
Chase is Google. Chase is Google. No, don't be like
my Alexa at home.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Hey, Chase, tell me fun fact about survivor Cook Island.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
All right, I'll let you know. In one second, each
tribe has to put together their boat. Wait. Google doesn't
make you wait, Yeah, Alexa, let me hey, like, so
what's the definition of patients one moment? Okay, So each
(40:07):
tribe has to put together a boat. It's like a
puzzle and it turns into a boat. Then you have
to use that boat to row out to a barrel
containing fire. They will have to light their torch and
row back to shore. Here's where the fun fact is.
Apparently in an interview that Billy Garcia did way back
into Chad, Billy Garcia was accidentally caught on fire during
(40:32):
that challenge and they didn't show it, and they didn't
show it, and this is what he says, I'll tell
you the whole story. What During the first immunity challenge,
Christina went to step on a platform in the water
that had a barrel of kerosene on it to light
a torch and later in the challenge, Oh, the platform
dipped and some of the kerosene spilled on my backside.
(40:54):
Later in the challenge, after the torch was lit, we
had to assemble a ladder and climb up to light
a cauldron signifying we won shut out. Well, a part
of my ladder disassembled and that halted my ascent. Christina
didn't notice and kept climbing. She ended up lighting my
kerosene drenched shorts on. Why did he just take them off?
(41:16):
And he goes Jeff Probes yells, Billy's on fire. He's
engulfed in flames. The challenger was a concern. Then Billy says,
I didn't even scream. My reaction was that figures what dude, Wait?
But I think my reaction would have been, I'm surrounded
by water. This is convenience. He's gonna jump in the water.
(41:38):
I don't know. He doesn't say, because all he says
maybe that reaction didn't make good television. Maybe they were
worried about legal issues that would have made amazing television,
or maybe that didn't fit the narrative of the story
they were telling. I don't know why it wasn't shown.
But if you compare my shorts in the first episode
and the second episode, you will see that I'm wearing
different black shorts. I'm gonna be on the lookout for
(41:59):
that Billy. That's crazy that he got caught on fire. Oh,
they have to put together their boat puzzle. They row
out to the barrel containing fire, they have to light
their torch. You know, all the stuff that we talked
about with Billy getting lit on fire. The African American
tribe is so far behind the White tribe also struggling.
Their boat comes apart in the middle of the ocean
because they like they realize that they're behind, and they
(42:22):
kind of take off before and fully assembled. Dude, did
you guys notice that this happened several times in this
challenge and I'd forgotten about this. Nowadays you can't even
proceed until everything's locked right down, Jeff. Now is like,
you're good. Go used to like that boat puzzle was
not done. They just hit the water with it. And
then later when they're building the ladder to climb up,
(42:42):
all of the pieces are not on. When one of
the girls gets to the top. I thought that was
very interesting. Fast and loose over there earlier. Yees, come on, guys,
this is the wild Wild West. Green Tribe gets their first,
and then Red Tribe and this is officially Ozzie's first
win in a career of over fourty challenge wins. Yeah,
so those two were in the clear.
Speaker 4 (43:03):
Then Blue Tribe team wins. That's fair that I understand that. Yeah,
only individual, I said it. I don't count it all right,
I said it. Then the Blue Tribe, I thought before I.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Said, no, do you think do you think Ozzie played
a part in them winning? No, you don't crazy. He
is great. He's a challenge beast. Okay, but that means
that the Yellow Tribe is going to tribal So the
producer is probably furious that the African American tribe is
the first one is getting eliminated from the tribal camps.
(43:38):
If the story you told us, that story is true, true? Yeah, yeah,
so I thought that was very interesting. At the end
of the challenge, the losing tribe gets to send someone
from one of the other tribes to Exile Island, bringing
it back from Jason Prior. So they send Jonathan Pinner
as punishment for stealing the chicken. Yeah, which fair, totally fair, and.
Speaker 5 (44:03):
Yeah, I have it.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
Penner said, I think it was because I took the
Asian guy's chicken that the African American guys chose me.
I was shocked and I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
And earlier he was so careful to say green trot
that went out the window with the camera man. Can
we talk about how bad he was on Exile Island?
So he gets, you know, his clue or whatever it is.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
It's about the and and there's you know, an A
frame on the island, and so he digs immediately under
the a or the frame and.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
He's like, well, I guess that's that's I guess I'm done.
I missed my wife. Yeah I can.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
I don't know much, but can you imagine if they
send somebody to exile island.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
And where they hide the immunity island is.
Speaker 4 (44:51):
Under the two giant wooden beams that they have put
up the only things that they have constructed.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
One place, it wouldn't be to say that was super
So just I'll dig here for the best. Miss my wife,
Miss my wife wife. The last thing I want to
say before we move on when it comes to challenges
is there because I did some deep diving into like
the subreddit last night to see if like they were
any like kind of underground stuff, like you know, how
(45:19):
we found out that Shane Powers like found a block
of cocaine or whatever on that Power does coke? Yeah? Yeah, yeah?
Or did? Maybe we don't know. We'll get on the show.
We'll ask him. He had like a daily radio show
for a while. Really, that's super cool. I saw him recently.
He was on someone's show recently. It might have been
(45:39):
drop your Buffs. I don't know. Anyway, the next episode
is Ozzie being like, we need to throw the challenge
Billy out of here. Yeah, and apparently the producers were
pissed Son.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
In general, like throwing something on Survivor is like viewed
almost like quick and it's like and Jeff does not
like quitters, No, he does not.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
He does not like it. When you that's a recent thing.
Back in the day they throw throwing challenges in a
strategy that's used a bit, but I don't you don't
see it often recently, and people think didn't Q say
that he did that?
Speaker 3 (46:17):
I was about to say people think Q did it,
but I'm pretty sure Q said, like, I've been bad
at challenges on purpose and forty six.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Yeah. Well, I think maybe the biggest recent controversy of
did they throw the challenge was Rome with the puzzle.
But I think we've confirmed that. Yeah, the soul was
trying his hardest. Don't let me forget I have my puzzle. Yeah,
we'll film it and we'll put it up on Patreon
behind a paywall. So dot com slash that just find yeah,
(46:50):
so Seku, We're so good.
Speaker 3 (46:52):
The reason Seku went home was because they were two
different groups. It was Nate and Seku, and then it
was Sundra and what's her name? I'm not this is
our first steps Stephanie. Yes, okay, Sandra and steph I
go through most of the season is usually yeah, okay.
(47:13):
Becca and Sondra were tight. And then it was Stephanie
as the swing vote, and then she decides that the
women Warrior leader is not going to be the Warrior leader.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
He goes home.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
It's tough because you're still early on in the season
and at this point, you know, if I am what,
who's the one?
Speaker 3 (47:32):
No, the.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
The woman is on the Stephanie, she's on the outside.
She's a swing physician.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
Yes, so if I'm on the swing vote, I'm deciding
what's more important to me right now? Is it I
have numbers with the ladies, But if I go with
the fellas, we we keep our strength, right.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Maybe I don't know if he was that helpful, that's
the thing, but you're you know, you're still like that's yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:00):
Conventional thinking there is like keep the guys along for
the strength early on, for the sake of.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Challenges argument and him. But I don't know. I kind
of I would be.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
I would have been really surprised if she didn't, like
it feels a lot safer to just be like, you
know what, I'm gonna vote with the ladies. Maybe that's
my my inroad to kind of growing a stronger bond
with them. And I think we've kind of seen more,
at least been until this point, more success with kind
of sticking with those built in you have your tribal lines,
(48:36):
but then you have the sexes if you will, and like, hey,
let's just stick together as as the ladies will stick
together as the guys. And so it seemed like to
me I would have probably done the same thing. I
would have been like, I'm just gonna vote with them
because it feels like I'll go further with them than
the strength argument.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Which is ument. There another thing about Stephanie. Want another
fun fact? Hey were the Cook Island fun fact? Can
we just talk about Chase's fun fact for a second.
Stephanie is from Columbia, South Carolina, one of the three
people who was not from California. I'll run through where
(49:18):
everybody's from. It was she a recruiter, did she remember
active on Instagram. Hold on second, what.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
I'm interested in is you said there's only a Stephanie
auditioned what's her last name? So we were all of
the recruits from California probably here there was only three
that auditioned, Jinny who was from Illinois, Okay, Stephanie's from Columbia,
and Cowboy, who was from Virginia.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Yeah. The rest are pretty much California. Could check this out. California, California,
New York, California, California, South Carolina, Virginia, California, California, California,
New York, Illinois, California, Washington, d C. California, California, cal Onia, California, DC, California, California.
That's ridiculous. Yeah, and a lot of them from the
same city in California do, which is pretty interesting, Santa Monica,
(50:08):
a lot of them.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
I do want to talk about my favorite moment at
Tribal go Ahead, which was when Jeff asked Nate, how
does tribe's diverse ethnicity change the game or does it
change the game, And then Nate laughs and says, yeah
it does, and then Jeff says, why is that funny?
And Nate says because it is, and then everyone laughs.
Speaker 6 (50:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (50:26):
You can tell that they do not like the I love,
especially early on, like when Jeff doesn't get an answer
or response that he doesn't like. You could see how
frustrated he is, Like even earlier in the episode when
they need to decide.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Yeah, this this same tribe, when the same tribe needs.
Speaker 4 (50:48):
To decide who they're sitting in Taxis Island and the
two guys come out, and then and Jeff points out,
Jeff is like, hey, I find it interesting that you
two guys were the only ones who stood up.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
What was up with that and the laser? Just like
it seems like they just wanted to take charge share
and just like, Okay, he was so frustrated that they
didn't give him something. I wish you would still do that.
Speaker 4 (51:08):
Yeah, it's great, well, but I also at the same
time wish it they would just show somebody if they
got caught on fire.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Show us Kevin's shoulder, Yeah, Billy's flaming shorts.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
It's the same thing, Like that info is going to
get out, Like, if something like that happens, it's gonna
get out, So you might as well just show it.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
To us or at least cut of it just to
put it up on Instagram so we can at least
just watch it somehow.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Let's remember who said that this happened.
Speaker 3 (51:34):
To Billy, right, and Billy has been known to Okay, well,
then can we talk. We'll try to talk to somebody
else from the season, because they were all there this moment,
and we can say, did Billy's butt catch on fire?
Speaker 2 (51:48):
And did Jeff go Billy's engulfed in flames?
Speaker 4 (51:51):
Yeah, I need to talk to Billy for so many
reasons that we'll get to the next couple of weeks
as well.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
But uh yeah, I think overall a really great episodes.
I think it's a really really strong start to the season.
Speaker 4 (52:05):
And every time, you know, I kind of go back
and forth between eras, and every time I go back
to the hour long episodes, I'm like, it's to put
so much.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
It's so much in such a small amount of time,
and it is. I still love New Era.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
I do get arguments just from a Hey, I don't
know how it feels like with longer episodes, I'm getting
to know these people less.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
But somehow it feels like that, and.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
It's just really interesting, like the way in which they
told stories in forty six minutes of TV for sus
an hour and twenty three is.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Really impressive. What they what they were able to do
at that time.
Speaker 3 (52:50):
I mean, we couldn't have Mitch wouldn't have had as
many opportunities to say I need to make a move.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
That's right. If we don't have it, if we don't
have that full hour and a half, what do I mean?
Don't even guys, this is amazing. Uh.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
Billy Garcia has followed us back. I followed him earlier
just to try to get his attention, Like I said,
him right now, okay, right now is the pr person.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
I'll let him man, okay, slide into his.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
D MS and be like, hey, we're literally reporting an
episode right now.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
We can't just have him on next week. We have
to have him on when the Candice thing happened. So
in two weeks okay, that episode three? I think, So okay,
it might no is it next week?
Speaker 4 (53:31):
It's next okay, because they throw the challenge and they
vote him out.
Speaker 2 (53:35):
Yeah, well spoilers, well, because they're not gonna be spoil
anything else. Okay. So that brings us to what I'm
very excited for talking to Billy. Well, yeah, he's already.
He's on the line right the wonderful We're gonna do
a thing with brand. Every episode we're brand because you
(53:58):
have not seen this full season. I trying to guess
you've only see in the first three episodes. Every episode,
you're gonna lock in a prediction for who you think
wins like this, like ther own personal draft. It will
help me for next season. First, please don't give us
the name, just give us the race. He man, Are
we gonna be allowed to keep making podcasts? I think so?
(54:18):
All right, So who do you think wins this season?
Lock it in, baby, if you if you nail it
first episode, you'll go down in this.
Speaker 4 (54:24):
Okay, So this is what I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
I'm gonna use some like I don't think I I
I think Ozzie wins at some point. I don't think
he wins this season because all he does really is
like climb trees and throwst.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Hole one episode and he did the most amazing thing ever.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
Climb a tree is starting a fire without anything is
more impressive to me than climbing a tree.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
Go climb a tree, Brian. Yeah, Anyway, I am going
to to lock in. I need to look up it
and you can change it week to week. It's not
like you have to on the Asian tribe. And he's
(55:17):
like this the strong guy, Yulele or do you mean
the like the really built one. They both have picture
of both, but Yule is the bigger one. Are you
talking about this guy or show the next one? This
guy that I'm going with Yule. I'm locking in Mule.
(55:42):
I'm gonna pull my chase bridges and I'm gonna I'm
gonna lock in. I'm gonna lock in eMule as the killer.
And by killer, I mean the one who's gonna win,
survivor cook.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
Well to pull the chase bridges, I mean, you're picking
the biggest threat immediately, Harry.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
I'm not going into Holy blind here, right, Like of
course I've heard of Ozzie. Of course, I've heard of Peverity.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
Like I've heard of her, Like I've heard of these people,
and so obviously the easy pick would beat with one.
Speaker 2 (56:12):
Of these to take one of the returning whites, Yeah yeah,
and I'm not gonna do that.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
I'm gonna lock in Yule. Okay, who at the very
least isn't showing back up for fifty.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
And then next week. I have a prediction that Brand's
gonna switch it over to Billy. Yeah, I don't know,
it's gonna be great. No, I'm locking in Mule. I'm
locking in Billy for this podcast. Yeah dude, Yeah, we'll
get him on the show either. This next week is
the one where he was the crazy We don't know
(56:47):
if it's Yeah, I mean you said if when he
threw the challenge.
Speaker 4 (56:49):
And be pretty fun if you would show up for
the like us talking about the episode, like just break
down the episode.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
Yeah, that's what I had in mind, just having not
even interview, but just like a fun Yeah, we have
a rewatch Billy, come hop in the time Machine. Oh yeah,
that's good. We're gonna get a different theme song, right,
I just thought that because that was about Cook Islands.
He does several songs on that episode, so we could
(57:17):
do other signs.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
I think we could just make a time Machine theme song,
not Jeff Probe's race comedy every week.
Speaker 2 (57:24):
Well, the other songs aren't about race. I mean, this
one wasn't about race. It was about fat shaming. Yeah,
it was so much better. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think
it was making fun of Richard Hatch being naked all
the time. So we're being homophobic to Son all of
a sudden, we hate people who don't pay their taxes. Dog,
(57:45):
that's an American hero in my band, taxation is theft. Okay, guys,
this has been I don't know if we're gonna be
renewed by Bramble jam for we'll see how well we
are gonna be nude. And that's because I gave Dan
free food when he came to the restaurant. Spoke very
(58:08):
highly Dan, boss man Dan. For some reason, because we
see you more. I feel like Dan's kind of like
the principal, you know what I mean. I mean he
was a principal. He does. He has has that vibe
that or like when Dan walks in the room sometimes
I'm like, all right, we gotta be on our best behavior. Attention.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
I have an invite to the pool from his kids.
I don't know if he knows about the invite.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
I just put an above ground pool in my place.
Really yeah, his is built in. It's in ground pool,
ground pool. He's got the Hallmark money. Give me, give
me six months, I'll get it in ground pool. Okay,
let's see how this Riverdale video does and beefing with Dan.
I just don't like other people having nicer things. I mean,
I've never given you free food. It's never been to
your restaurant. Yeah that's true. If we chase there, people
(58:54):
get caught on fire there. Hey, if Chase and I
show up, yeah, wait what your restaurant?
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (59:01):
He did, dude, backside full of kerosen. If Chase and
I go to the restaurant, do we have to, Like,
do we have to pay? We should go? Yeah, you
have to. It's expensive to I can get you are
but you can't get us a free meal. What you've
got Dan was very nice? Yeah? What you what I got?
I got Dan bacon wrapped fill a that was fried.
That's not bad. That sounds great. We should go. His
(59:24):
kids love to. I think that's why I got the pool.
Invite invite Dan too, and we'll make it a company
thing and you guys pay for it. Sure you want
to come to Chases? What if you all catch on fire?
I don't know. This is a ton of fun, man.
I like how laid back this one is. Are you
guys got to make a prediction for next week? Well,
Jonathan be here.
Speaker 5 (59:43):
No, no.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
I think he already said like, I can't do the
first thing, which means he's not gonna binge four episodes
to be on the fourth one. Jonathan's just not gonna Hey, listeners,
can you harass Jonathan? If you've made it this far
in the episode, go harass John.
Speaker 4 (59:56):
Go check out his latest video where he talks about
some band no one's heard of, and be like, hey,
you should just be watching Survivor.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Yeah, say that, or go to his Instagram and if
it's like a picture of his baby and say that
is very nice, but you know it's better watching Survivor
with your friends.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
And talking about it. It's about to be his daughter's
first birthday, and he put that in the chat, and
I was like, it's only been a year of that
baby ruining our shit. Feels like five, feels like it's
been happening forever.
Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
But it's gonna be great when we can just replace
him with her with the baby. Yeah, yeah, in like
four years from now. Oh yeah, she'll be able to
talk better for sure. I mean, at the very least
the baby will show up.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Definitely, that baby got going on. Yeah, and baby will
contribute if as much, if not more, probably more, Yeah,
probably more. Yeah, we love that baby, Yeah, we love
that baby. The name on the count of three, one, two, three,
lizzz the name of the baby. I didn't know what
we were doing. Let's all say the name of the
(01:00:56):
baby on three, one, two three baby. All right, Oh,
why did you play? Let's go?
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
You're about to hear some ads that helped keep the
lights on here in the old studio. Thanks for listening
or don't listen. It's really up to you. At this point.
It is at the end of the show. I mean,
you're listening to me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
But here they come. I promised they're coming. Yep, here
they are. Happy Day.
