Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's the season fifty emergency pod guys.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Guys, breaking news. No one knew it was coming, well,
we all knew it was coming.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
And yeah, we knew exactly what was coming unless we
went to Great Links. I tried to live under a
rock this week.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, and it didn't help that we kept posting leaked
stuff in the in the group chat. But here's the thing,
and this is, you know, let's just start off high.
What we're gonna be doing here is gonna be breaking
down all of the cast for the season fifty twenty
five years of Survivor. I mean, let's just let's just I.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Mean, yeah, I'm excited for this because I know how
much you're excited for this.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I am so pumped this. When I saw the leaked list,
for some reason, I was like blame. But then the
second that Jeff revealed them one by one this morning
at nine thirty or eight thirty on CBS Good Morning
or whatever, I was so hyped. Every time he pulled
out another name.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Me too, especially like he'd say the name of the season.
When he said Borneo, I was like, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
I was like, oh, I was really hoping it was
gonna be the man, the myth the legends. I thought
it was gonna be our boy from season one. Man, Oh,
I was thinking Richard, Yeah, yeah, that was the that
(01:36):
was old Baton switch Jervas.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I think Jervais has a pocket of fans.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Well, he's come back before, and I'm gonna be real
he I think he did a better job when he
came back than he did the first time on Borneo.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
It isn't his name Jervis, and we keep getting it wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, well we called Jervais because one of the owners
of the network. He's only ever watched one season of
Survivor and it was the first one, and he keeps
calling him Jervaise. Yeah, and he's a big Jervas fan.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I want to start this off by saying I didn't
get the memo that Jeff was gonna be on at
eight thirty. So I got up at six thirty, drank
a coffee, sat down just to watch the news for
an hour and a half.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
My bad man. So last night before I fell asleep,
I double checked. I was like, what time is it again?
And I looked on Survivor's Instagram story and they had
it on there eight thirty. I was gonna text you
and be like, hey, it's eight thirty. But I didn't
(02:43):
want it to be a thing where I go, hey,
just a reminder it's eight thirty, and then we do
that thing that we do to Jonathan where we're like, yeah,
we know, where have you been? I thought maybe I misunderstood,
So I had no idea. So I just woke up
and watched the news. It's like an elderly person and
two hours and I just sat there and watched. I
(03:05):
was like, what else am I going to do right now?
I'll just listen to Gail and Nate Burleson and whoever
the other guy was. But because of that, I have
this clip.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
So what does this mean?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Doctor John Lapuk has what you need to know about
all of this.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Plus there's another of us in that bizarre case of
a crypto investor who allegedly kidnapped and then tortured a
man for weeks.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Very crazy story.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
But first, it is seven seventeen, trying to check.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Your local weather.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
What crypto kidnapping? Hey, let's talk about the weather.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Now. They tortured him for weeks, All right, let's throw it.
Let's see you about that rainy day to day.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Crypto kidnapping and torture. And also that's a crazy story.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Anyway, when we come back the season fifty of Survivor,
some might claim that to be weeks of torture.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Ah, I'm so happy it was Gail, though. I strategically
hyped up Gail because I knew this is gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I knew she would be there with Jeff. I saw it.
I'm a visionary. You are a visionary. But it was
an accident. I'm taking full credit. If you're a recent
listener to our show. We've been talking about this gay
old lady ever since she went to space earlier this.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, because I was celebrating somebody in the CBS family
who they showed as for on Survivor going to space.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Heck, yeah, dude, because when we watched Survivor, you're not
everyone's not just watching Survivor. We're all watching pretty much
the same commercials, and so that's a part of our show.
All Right, we've vamped long enough. I'm too excited. Let's
just start jumping in to all of the different casts.
All right, let's do it. Let's start with the number
(04:48):
one baby Jenna. Now Jenna previous played on the first
ever season of Survivor twenty five years ago, Borneo, and
she came back for All Stars a few seasons later.
She is forty seven years old, and that's going to
be a trend that we're going to see a lot
in this list, a lot of older players. We joked
about doing a Golden Survivor where it's all older contestants.
(05:13):
A majority of these players this season are in their fifties.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Wait, how old you said? Forty seven?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
She is forty Seven's not old, No, but I mean
forty seven compared to when she played the first time,
when she was twenty No, yeah, something like twenty. The
first time she played in Bordio, she finished eighth, and
when she played in All Stars, she finished third, which
was a final two season, so she was eliminated right
(05:40):
before the Final two which was Boston Robin Amba. She
has a total of fourteen challenge wins. That is not
just individual that is also tribe challenges. So she made
it very far in both seasons she played in. So
her team I can't remember off the top of my head.
I think she was on some winning teams pre Merge
(06:00):
and then you know, post Merge. I don't remember if
she won any challenges individually, but she might have.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Do you remember like like a lot of like her
story in Borneo because I don't.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I we would will have to go back and watch
the first season at some point, because I really struggle.
The only thing I really remember from that first season
is Richard Hatch and his well Rudy too obviously. Well, yeah,
of course, yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I mean it's it's very different, and the challenges and everything.
They don't hold your hand like they do now, Like
you just had to watch and pay attention because Jeff
was not saying anything to you.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Jeff wasn't running around screaming at everybody, which is a
shame because it's the best part of the show. All right.
So after I go through the list, then we can
I want us to talk about like who we think
could possibly be the winner, who you think is gonna
be our number one draft pick from our draft, stuff
(06:59):
like that. But let's just rapid fire through these. Next up.
Colby from season two, Oh Colby, the All American Hero,
as Jeff called him this morning. He played. He has
played three times so far. He played in Australia All
Stars and Heroes Versus Villains. He is fifty one years old.
(07:20):
He finished runner up in Australia very famously, twelfth in
All Stars and fifth in Heroes Versus Villains. He has
twenty six total challenge wins. He is considered the original
challenge Beast. And this is just a note from me.
When he played in Heroes Versus Villains, they hyped up
(07:43):
his return for Heroes Versus Villains and he was a
challenge flop. He was not able to win many challenges
in Heroes Versus Villains. Everyone like, even, I think was
it Ozzy? I think Ozzy was on Heroes Versus Villains
with him, or maybe it was someone else, And they go, no,
it wasn't Ozzie. But they go they're like, this is
(08:07):
Colby the challenge Beast. What happened to him? Because he
was sucking. So he's fifty one now. If he wasn't
doing so hot Heroes versus Villains challenge wise, I can
only imagine he might not do that great challenge wise
this year or next year.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
His confessionals were so stupid, but in an endearing way.
He'd be like, man, I just look out at the ocean.
Life is good.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
And then he would win a bunch of challenges yeah,
and then he very famously people, I mean a lot
of people thought he should have won that season. One
last thing about Colby before we move on. He hasn't
done good on any season except for Australia. I mean,
he came in fifth place in Heroes Versus Villains, but
that was because he was a non threat and so
(08:53):
they could afford to take him further into the game.
So I'm very excited he could redeem himself this time.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
On All Stars too. I don't remember All Stars.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
He finished twelfth okay, yeah, so yeah, pretty early in
the game, but I think that was because he was
seen as such a threat after Australia at that point.
But anyway, Boston Robins ran that game anyway. Next up,
we have someone I'm extremely excited for. Stephanie Is coming
back for the fourth time. She played Palau, which was
(09:27):
one of the craziest story arcs of all time, her
and Bobby John making their way through Oh, by the way, guys,
spoiler alert, Well, yeah, I think that's maybe we should
put a spoiler alert at the beginning of the episode
or something like that, or we'll just do it right here.
We haven't spoiled too much.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Yeah, so we're gonna talk about stuff that I don't
even know about. So I'm gonna be learning a lot
in this podcast. Yeah, yeah, because I've seen forty two
through forty eight and then one through fifteen or.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Six, right, so you're missing a big chunk there in
the middle, which is where a lot of returning seasons happened.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
So I'm gonna get educated today, like I've seen Stephanie's
two seasons.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah. So Stephanie, she played in Palau where her and
Bobby John famously got picked off one by one, and
then she was in a tribe by herself, the only
time that's ever happened. Then she came back for Guatemala,
which was the immediate next season. Her and Bobby John
both came back. She did, they revealed that I lost
my mind. It was awesome. Now Guatemala is another great season.
(10:32):
Then she came back again for Heroes Versus Villains. Stephanie
is forty five years old. She finished seventh in Palau,
so even though she got they got picked off, she
still made it pretty far. Then in Guatemala she was
the runner up, and then in Heroes Versus Villains she
was eliminated second. So she came in nineteenth out of twenty. Wow. Yes,
(10:57):
she has ten total challenge wins. So out of three seasons,
she has only won ten challenges. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
I mean people talk about disaster tribes. She was on
the disaster tribe, yes.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
And she was the only one left. And that was
what was crazy is they they sent her back to tribal,
like from tribal after eliminating Bobby John. Yeah, by herself
to camp and they were just like, we're gonna keep playing.
Which I think that season is the reason that we
get the tribe swap when a tribe gets pretty low. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
But it was like, it was just so captivating that
that story with her Bobby John, Bobby John losing his mind.
It's fun that Brand's watching that season right now, so
he's getting to experience it.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yeah, he's watching Guatemala right now.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
He's like, guys, I think Bobby John is going crazy.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Man, that's an underrated season Guatemala, dude. The location is
one of the most memorable for me because it's so
different than all the other like beach seasons. Anyway, next up,
we have one of the biggest survivor legends of all time,
Sourri Suri played in Panama, Micronesia, Heroes Versus Villains, and
(12:12):
Game Changers, as well as she has been seen on Traders,
She has been seen on Big Brother. She has been
seen on a ton of game shows very recently. It
seems like maybe she just needed some money. I'm gonna
be doing the round well.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
I feel like her bank account's doing great right now.
She's she's gonna be on Australian Survivor soon and then
she's gonna go straight from that to American Survivor. That's insane.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
That is crazy that she's gonna be playing this summer,
or she already played Australia Versus the World. She's on
a plane right now as we speak to go film
Survivor fifty. She is fifty four years old.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, like physically that that would be really hard for
somebody in their twenties to do Survivor back to back
like that.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yes. Uh. When she first played in Panama, she finished fourth.
When she played in Micronesia, she finished third. When she
did Heroes Versus Villains, she finished seventeenth, and then in
Game Changers she finished sixth. She has twenty two total
challenge wins.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
I know some people don't want to see her again
just because she's played so many times. Yeah, yeah, but
I've only seen the two serie seasons, so I'm really
excited for Sari because she was amazing.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, I love every time to replace Survivor. I think
that where the criticism of like oversaturation is because she
was just on Big Brother, she was just on Traders.
She's gonna be on all show. I think I think
people are just like we. It's what Jeff was saying
when he talked about when other shows like Traders take
famous Survivor players where it's like it's not gonna feel
(13:54):
special when they come on the show again. And I
think that he nails that point. A lot of people
will disagree with him on that. I think it's true.
I just you know, it's you haven't watched Traders or
Big Brother or I think she was on Dealer, o'deal
Island or something like that as well, but like, you
haven't watched those, so you haven't you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Well, I'll watch them all and get back to you.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
If I want to see Si. But that being said,
I am very excited about Serrin. I think I would
have rather seen Sandra come back in that place of
like Survivor legend who has played a lot, but Surri
is always awesome and always fun to see. Next up,
my favorite Survivor player of all time. I am so pumped.
(14:40):
This is another person that people are kind of iffy
about seeing yin Azzy Wow.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
I mean, yes, he's controversial. I'll say that, Yeah, he is.
I feel like Ozzy is It's like he took somebody
out of a pirate movie and put them on Dude.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Ozzy Man, he's his stats. I'll just do his stats
because he played Cook Islands, then Micronesia, South Pacific, and
then Game Changers. Ozzie is forty three years old. Isn't
that crazy? Yeah? Because I think he was eighteen the
first time he played, which was the Race War season
Cook Islands. He finished runner up in Cook Islands, ninth
(15:24):
in Micronesia, fourth in South Pacific, and twelfth in Game Changers.
He has a total of forty three challenge wins in
season fifty. He could break fifty challenge wins.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah, I mean with the tribe ones include how many
individual challenges as he won?
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Do you have that number? I don't have it in
front of me, but I know that he is tied
for the record of most individual immunity challenges won in
a single season, which was which is five. In Cook Islands,
he was considered a challenge beast. He won so many challenges.
Then in Micronesia he came back and won so many challenges.
(16:04):
So it's just I mean, I'm what I'm not looking
forward to is if forty three year old Ozzie shows
up and isn't as good as Prime Azsie. You know
that's gonna be a letdown.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Did Ozzie invent the fake idol?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
No, that would be was it Yooman or or it
was in Cook Islands I'm pretty sure, or the season
right after Cook Islands, South Pacific I think is what
that's called. Or no, that's not I don't remember. But no,
he did not invent the but he has the one
of the greatest fake idol plays where he just took
(16:40):
a stick.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
It was just a stick, and he bought it and
then yeah, then he shows it to Eliza I think
it was Eliza, and she's like, I can't believe it.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
He's an idiot. It's just it's a stick, dude. Ozzi's
one of my favorite play of all time. He's considered
one of the best players to never win, so maybe
maybe this is his time. Maybe with age comes the
ability to win the game. I would. I mean, he's
very controversial outside of the game, I think.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Yeah, I mean, I didn't know that CBS would let
him do it after you know, his ventures into other things.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Hey man, I think he's always kept a good relationship
with Jeff and CBS. But yeah, his other ventures. But yeah,
that's how I'll describe it. Ozzy's the one that I'm
most excited for, Guys. I mean I'm gonna do I
mean realistically, because I know myself and I do this
every draft. I'm gonna draft Ozzie first. Oh yeah, for sure.
(17:47):
He's your favorite and my favorite of all time. I
know I shouldn't draft Serie, but I love SII. She's
like I think SuRie is my favorite Survivor player. That's awesome. Yeah,
that's a great favorite to have Ozzie. If if Ozzy
wasn't on this season, I would have really liked to
see Malcolm who might be. I mean, he's in tight
contention with my number one, my top legend or like
(18:11):
a myth.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Because I haven't seen the season So he's just this
myth that I hear about all the time Malcolm and Denise.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, yeah, dude, Well so he he was like the
the Ozzy after Ozzy played and then the two of
them played on the same season. Anyway, next up another
survivor legend. We have the Dragon Slayer coach.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
This is another guy I'm not familiar with who I've
heard legends about. So you'll have to educate me.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
If you love Bonu and you love Andy, and you're
gonna do I drafted both of them, you're gonna love
coach Man. He is a legend. He played on to Toketin's.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Token Chins Token Sheans.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Heroes Versus Villains, and then South Pacific. He is fifty
three years old. He finished fifth in Tokitchin's twelfth in
Heroes Versus Villains, and he was the runner up in
South Pacific. He has a total of eighteen Challenge wins.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
But so he's like, he's a big character and that's why, Yeah,
he like him.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
He's a big character. He calls himself the Dragon Slayer. Yeah,
I've heard a lot about that. He's the kind of
guy that, like his confessionals were just off the.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Wall, he plays the instrument. I think he did something
with Ben Katzman. I saw Ben promoting a concert that
he's doing some performance with Coach, so I felt like
Coach maybe plays something.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Probably, But on his seasons, man, he's just one of
those that was like on his first season he was
so out there and so weird. They brought him back
for Heroes Versus Villains and he doubled down and was
even weirder or a villain. He was a villain. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Dragon Slayers kind of sounds like a hero dude.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Like he I don't even know how to explain him.
I'll have to pull some clips and show you later
that I don't have spoilers, but like he'll just do
things like like if someone like he'll sit down with
someone who'll be like, this is who we're voting tonight
because I'm the dragon Slat and I'm going to take
out my competition one by one, and then he'll be
like doing like taekwondo on the beach and he's just
(20:19):
he's just so out there. Man, He's awesome. Yeah, he's
like evil Banu. He's actually a very strategic player. I mean,
I mean he was runner up in his third time playing,
so you know, I'm very excited to see him come back.
Next up, we have someone. Her name's Aubrey. She played
on Her first season was Brains Versus bron Versus Beauty,
(20:43):
which I've seen. Then she comes back for Game Changers,
which I've seen, and then she comes back a third
time an Edge of Extinction, which is my next season
that I have to watch. When she showed up because
I've seen the first couple of episodes of Edge of Extinction.
When she showed up, they talked about her. She's back again.
What I love Aubrey.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Do you remember in forty six when Q was talking
to Mariah, Yeah, and she said her favorite player was
Aubrey and Q, Yes, if somebody's gonna play like Aubrey,
then like I need them out of here.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
So I did some research. Yeah, And here's the thing
about Aubrey. I remember her a little bit in Brains
Versus bron Versus Beauty. She was on the Brains Tribe.
She finished runner up. She was the runner up on
that season. Then she came back for Game Changers, and
that's where she got like a huge reputation for being
(21:36):
an extremely intelligent strategic player. She finished fifth that season,
and then she came back for Edge of Extinction and
she was sixteenth, So her last showing was not great.
She's thirty nine years old, she has twenty total challenge wins.
She's a super strategic player. I'm excited to see how
she's a cutthroat player, and so I'm excited to see
(21:59):
a cut real player go up against some new era
players like Joe. This season is not gonna be like
forty eight. No, I mean you've got I mean just
the ones that we've talked about so far, Ozzie, Coach, Sorie, Stephanie. Yeah,
mostly those those are all cut people together.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
I just I just get so excited about it, dude.
I'm pumped for this season.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
I knew Season fifty would have to be big because
it's the fiftieth season of Survivor, but I think I've
let the Internet convince me that it was gonna suck.
And so this morning when the cast was revealed, I'm
just over the moon, like I'm vibrating today. Next up,
we have Chrissy, not the one you're thinking Chrissy is talking.
(22:46):
This is Christy Crazy. We'll be able to use that
sound drop for we will that's true, it'll be passed
on to a new Chrissy or an old Chrissie. Really,
Chrissy is from Heroes versus Healers Versus Hustlers. That's an
(23:09):
interesting season. She's fifty four years old. She was the
runner up for that season, and she has thirteen total
challenge wins. She was the oldest Survivor player to win
female to win four individual immunity Challenges in one season
at fifty four. No, she's fifty four now, Okay, so
(23:31):
I don't know how long ago.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, she would have been like sixty something now, so
that wouldn't have worked.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
But yeah, but I mean if she was, if she
was breaking records as the oldest back then she's really
If she does some stuff, it's gonna be pretty crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I feel like I haven't heard too much about her.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah, I mean, she's only played one season before, so
this will be her second season. But apparently she she
was a big enough fan favorite to come back for
fifty So all right, I'm excited. Christy is speaking next up.
I mean, I'm so hyped about this. If it wasn't
for Ozzy, this would probably be my number one pick.
(24:11):
I mean, well, we'll see when we get to the
actual draft. But guys from David and Goliath, Christian.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Dude, you haven't watched this Nicky. I know about him
from because he comes on Rob has a podcast a lot,
but I've never seen the season.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Dude. I just watched David and Goliath for the first time.
It's one of the best seasons ever, which is why
they brought back three people from that season. Dude, Christian
is awesome. He's thirty nine years old. He finished seventh
and David versus Goliath. He should have won the season
in my opinion, but everyone thought so and that's why
(24:47):
they voted him out because he was a huge threat.
He has a total of nine Challenge wins. Dude, I
think fan like I think he's one of the biggest
fan favorites coming into fifty. Yeah, I'm excited for it.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Maybe I should just jump to that season next because
you you've been raving about it.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Dude, you should, and I would hope maybe all of
all of them making the merge hosts. I know realistically
it's not gonna happen, but uh, to just watch the
seasons that the seven, the season fifty, Yeah, I'll do it. Well,
that's the question that Yeah, I didn't want to call
him out, but him and Kristin I don't think are
(25:27):
gonna gonna watch I hope they watched season fifty. Yeah,
me too, But uh, you guys should definitely like watch
the seasons that way you know who to draft going
in because, guys, this is the first year I suck
at drafting players. I suck at drafting players so bad.
But there is no one on making the merge that
knows these old seasons better than me.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
So you think this is your time to shine. And
it sounds like you're gonna want Christian on your team.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
I'm gonna want Christian, I'm gonna want Ozzie, I'm gonna
want a lot of these guys. This is gonna be
the first season since we started doing the draft where
like I'm gonna be I'm gonna want all four of
the players I draft, or five because there's more than
eighteen or whatever, Like, there's not gonna be any Oh
who's gonna be picked last? Oh we know who's gonna
(26:16):
be picked last.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah, like somebody will fall, but it's gonna be more
interesting because everybody is a good prospect pretty much.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
This is dude, this is gonna be the best season
of making the Merge yet.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Yeah, I'm so excited to cover it week by week two.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Dude, it's gonna the draft is gonna be insane if
I lose, Like I won the first draft of our
podcast era, right, So I take that on as a
pretty big achievement. If I can make my next win
be the season fifty win, brother, i'd be I'd go
down as the goat of making the Merge. I'd shoot
right past you.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Yeah, so I need to destroy you. I gotta do
some tape study on these people.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
I will. I'm gonna be in the lab, Okay, I
know you will. Man. Next up, also from David Versus Goliath,
we have Angelina, huge fan favorite, thirty five years old.
She was the runner up of David Versus Goliath.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Something about a jacket, right, I hear that a lot.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Yes. She has six total Challenge wins. She is known
for being like, I don't want to spoil too much
of the season, but since you already know about the
jacket thing, she's just so outspoken and she doesn't have
social cues well like perfect like, So basically, what happens
is they blindside someone and then as the person that
(27:37):
is blindsided is leaving, she asks if she can have
her jacket, and she does stuff like that all season.
I was surprised hearing that she's such a fan favorite
because I kind of saw her as a villain. But
like at one point, she tries to convince other people
(27:59):
on the tribe to for her so that way she
can play her idol and do a big psych I'm
actually safe tonight, but she wasn't the target, so she
tried to like choreograph it so that the jury would
think she made a big move. I don't know, She's
a super interesting player. You need to watch David Versus
Goliath asap. Next up, Get into It, also from David
(28:21):
Versus Goliath. The creator of White Lotus, the writer of
Nacho lebre and School of Rock. Mike White.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Yeah, one of the most famous people in the world
right now. It feels like this is a big deal
getting him on. I haven't even seen the season, like
I've said, but I know he's a huge deal.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Yeah. Well, like he's fifty four years old. He was
the he was the other runner up for David Versus Goliath.
He has nine total Challenge wins. And the thing about
Mike White, obviously he's famous. He's extremely famous right now
because White Lotus. He was extremely famous when he went
on the show Nacho Lee Braves School of Rock, like
(29:03):
he was a big successful Hollywood screenwriter. I think a
lot of people will see a lot of people will think, hey,
Mike White will be eliminated pretty early because everyone's gonna
be like, he's the guy that owned the directs White Lotus,
he created White Lotus. He doesn't need the money. Let's
get rid of them guys. His season and David Versus Goliath,
(29:26):
he that should have been what happened to him. Then
everyone knew that he didn't need the money. He was
the runner up, and so he's Every season we see
a player like Mitch where their game or their strategy
is not being a threat, staying in the sidelines, not
making any big moves so that they end up at
(29:48):
the end, and most of the time it's like or
not most of them. Every time it's like you're just
not playing, You're floating to the end. It's not a
good strategy. It never works. Is the only player I've
ever seen do that strategy? Of not being a threat,
not being the forefront, playing behind the scenes and it
(30:08):
actually work and it and it looks incredible too. So
he's an iconic Survivor player as well as being famous screenwriter.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I'm excited for it. You know, I'm gonna watch White
Lotus too. It's gonna be part of my tape study.
I haven't seen that either.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Well, uh, there's a lot of like like Angelina, who
we just talked about. She shows up in White Lotus.
He's really good friends with her. They were on the
season together, you know, they're the runners up together White Lotus.
I think I haven't seen it. I haven't watched White
Lotus because I've been saving it for my my YouTube stuff.
(30:44):
But uh, from what I understand, Survivor has heavily influenced
that show.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Yeah, Johnny Fairplay has a minor role. Really, that's really Oh.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Why would you why why would you lie? You know?
I can't be like no, because I thought you would
say that I hadn't seen it. I don't know who's
next next up. This is someone that I do not know.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
This is Edge of Extinction Rick Rick Devons. Okay, this
is somebody that I can speak on a little bit,
just because I listened to the first season of the
on Fire podcast and Rick Devons was the guest or.
He was the like the guest co host, and I
(31:37):
didn't realize they were gonna kick him off the show.
I wish he kind of just stayed every season instead
of replacing him with other New Era people every season.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
But he was really good.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
He came off as like very charismatic and charming on
the podcast, so I feel like if that is any
indication of how he played, then I see why people
like him.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Yeah. So I've only seen the first episode of Extinction
at this time point, he's forty one years old. He
finished fourth, and he has eight total challenge wins. He
seems to be a pretty big fan favorite.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
I think he did something. Maybe it was an idol
play or like a fake idol or something.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
That was a big deal. I know that, okay, and
I don't remember exactly what it was. Well, I guess
we'll find out when we're watching Taking the rind and Tape. Yeah, dude,
because I only have six seasons left and then I've
seen every single season, you have quite a bit. But
I can just tailor it to this list now.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Yeah, yeah, so I can just go and yeah, that's
what I'm gonna do, take notes on everybody. I mean,
this is gonna be the most information we have going
into a draft because we haven't drafted former players ever.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Right, because we started the draft with forty four Yeah,
and then we started the podcast with forty seven seven. Yeah.
So all right, this next person is someone that PD
will have to speak about because I haven't seen this
season and you have season five forty two. Jonathan. He's
thirty two years old, he finished fourth in his season,
(33:05):
and he has nine total challenge wins man. I would
love to talk about Jonathan Jonathan.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
There was one challenge where he literally carried two people
on his back in the ocean because they were swimming
so slow. He just grabbed them and swam with them
to the shore, which was insane.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
I had never seen anything like it. Jeff was like, he's.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Literally carrying the team on his back.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
That is sick.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
So he was a challenge beast, but he was also
just he was dumb in a way that was endearing,
kind of like Colby, but I don't know, maybe a
little bit more. But I mean there was also a
moment where he was he was talking to this other
player named Omar on the beach about like their faith
(33:52):
and stuff, and he just he came across like a
really nice guy to me, even though sometimes he would
get annoyed by the women talking. So that was the
I think one thing, oh boy, that was that was
one thing that people didn't.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Like about him. But fair enough, very much. Himbo. Yeah,
Himbo definitely feels like the right vibe for this guy.
I'm excited to watch that season because I've seen this
guy's face come up a lot in discourse. So next up,
PD PDS oh man, PD's about about to go crazy
(34:28):
from season forty five, twenty eight years old, the youngest
female on this season. Yeah, the winner of season forty
five so far, the only winner in season fifty nine
Total Challenge wins, Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
It's d yep, and we're talking about the new poverty.
That's what I'm gonna say. Oh, d is gonna be
a survivor legend. She played the most dominant game of
the New era.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Dude, I think d.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
You can disagree with me all you want, d Is,
and I saw it coming, and that's why I picked
her to be on my team. And I think there's
an argument to be had that Rachel was the best
New Era player. D is number two in that.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
So i'll give you I'll give you that. Yeah, but
if it's not Rachel, it's D. I'll give you that.
She had.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
She had the tight alliance and then backstabbed the person
that she was closest to at the very end, and
then he didn't even realize it, and then she revealed
it to everybody, and it was the moment that I
think she won over the jury. So it was just
a brilliant game. She was good and challenges too.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Yeah. No, she's a great player, She's a great winner.
I was very excited to see you. I mean, she
could be potentially a two time winner.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Yeah, And I like you said, you're gonna be really
tempted to draft some of the old era people, Like
I think it's gonna be really hard for me not
to take first.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yeah. Do you think her being a winner and being
only one of two winners in this season that are
coming back, do you think that's gonna put a big
target on her back?
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Probably will, But we just saw in forty eight sometimes
big targets make it all the way to the end.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
But that's the thing about returning season is most of
these people are big threats.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Yeah, because I mean, the other Survivor players might feel
like a bigger deal, even to the people on the island,
just because they were on TV back when everybody in
America was watching.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Here's what I'll give you. I think she deserves to
be on fifty. Absolutely, I agree. I agree one percent.
If she can show up on season fifty and play
another great game, I'll let I'll give you that she's
one of the most dominant winners of the New Era.
I don't love season forty five, and I didn't think
that she was that awesome of a winner. I think
(36:59):
if it wasn't for your undying love for her, I
wouldn't even really remember her much.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Is some of this field by the fact that she
won me a trophy?
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Probably it could agree, It's possible that influenced. But I
also said, I also think, and I know this is
gonna sound biased, because Rachel was the one that won
me the trophy. I think Rachel's season had a better game.
She was an underdog who overcome the odds and won.
After all, d was just in a title lion. I
don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
D was running the game. That's how I love she was.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
She was You're not Lyons, all right? Also from season
forty five, her big thing that everybody likes to talk about,
including Jeff This Morning on CBS. Everyone hated her and
then she became a fan favorite. Emily.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Everyone did hate her. They accused her of being racist.
Do you remember the first week with Bruce when Bruce
was saying something and she just I don't remember the
moment exactly. I just remember Bruce gave some answer and
then she like barked at him for no reason.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
People are like, does she is? She's just like a horrible.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
Person, and then over time, you know, she had this
total redemption arc.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Yeah, and it was. It was fun. It was a
very interesting. I mean, season forty five, like I said,
not my favorite season, but I would say that Emily
was one of my watching that arc of like villain
to hero kind of was very I.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Think season forty five was a good season because Austin
Drew d Emily k Lob but there was a lot
of fun people on the cast and Bruce.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Yeah, but then maybe maybe it would be more memorable
if forty six hadn't have been right after and was
like libritating. Yeah. Also about Emily, she will be thirty
years old. She finished seventh in her season, and she
has three total challenge.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Wins, and she is a financial analyst, financial analyst, Emily Flippin'.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
That's that's right. It's important to say that exactly all right,
from season forty six. Oh but one more thing about Emily.
That was a Team Christen player. Do you think Kristin's
gonna want her back? Oh? Yeah, there's a lot.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
There's gonna be a lot of different things going through
to this draft.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of history. One thing
that I want to do is, and I'm gonna try
to make this today. I want to make a graphic
showing all of the season fifty players that we have
drafted before.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Yeah, which I have so far people, Which yeah, says
maybe I know a thing or two about picking survivor players.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
If all my players are coming back, I mean, listen,
there's no denying that. When it comes to the making
the merge. Jody Newell cup PD's the goat Kristin coming
up real close. We're competing. You guys are fighting for it.
PD always drafts really great players and then also he
drafts really memorable players like Andy and Bonu, So you know,
(39:52):
there's no denying that you're the goat man. But I
think after I win season fifty, this is my time
to take over. Next up from season forty six, the
man that I thought was gonna win me the Cup,
the draft baby, the start of Q Nation.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Q qu Dude, can can we play the cameo that
Q sent to you?
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Yeah? Let me, It'll say to you. It'll probably take mehere.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
I could talk about Q while you while you find
it because yeah, yeah, So the season forty six, I
feel like Q. Without Q, it would not have been
nearly as memorable, because exactly, he was just such a
compelling character. In the beginning, he was trying to coach
up Bonu and he just couldn't do it, and they
(40:46):
had to let Bonu go. But I remember him sitting
at tribal telling everyone to vote for him, and it
just caused mass chaos, and it was one of the
craziest tribles I had seen in the New era, where
everybody's just getting up, they don't know what to do.
Like Q just told everyone to vote for him, but
then they somehow all agree to vote out Tevin, and
(41:08):
I remember being like, why how did this get turned
around on Tevin? When Q literally asked everybody to vote.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
For him and he make it.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
But we got amazing moments like the Q skirt and
then hide and Seek with Q.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Remember that canceled Christmas.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
You remember hide and Seek where he got the mull
to play hide and Seek and then he's like, he
described how everybody played hide and Seek, and he's like,
based off of this, this is how they were gonna
play the game. Like Bin's hiding in the bushes, that's
the kind of game he's playing.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Q is one of my favorite players in the New Era.
I was so happy I drafted him. He's thirty one
years old, he finished sixth, and he has four total
Challenge wins. But most importantly, he sent me this CuMo
Chase Man show Boy. Yes, I'm in an airport and.
Speaker 6 (41:57):
I'm traveling, but I had to get on just to tell.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
You a little South South SOB, you had a.
Speaker 6 (42:05):
Survivor draft, right, Survivor draft warrible.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
You had an opportunity to take me first, and you didn't.
You took Hunter.
Speaker 6 (42:15):
Shoot the guys at home now Why not take me
first round? Why wait till the second round to pick me?
But I got to tell you something.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
I'm the last.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
Person left on your team.
Speaker 7 (42:25):
I'm the last line of defense for you, Chase.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
But you still got a shot.
Speaker 5 (42:31):
Brother.
Speaker 7 (42:32):
Hey, let me just tell you. We're not out of
this thing. We're gonna fight, you know, and if I
go home, I go home. But at least you're gonna
have a fighter left on your team. Everybody else in
this leave.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Let me just tell y'all something.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
P D Jonathan Christine Christine.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
First of all, y'all an awful people. Christ you didn't
draft me at all.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
I mean, Chase, you're not off the hook drifting me
second brown. But for all you other ones that Japanese
never big mistak though, you know I just wished for
the next three times in a row.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
Your Christmas is just canceled. You don't even have them.
Speaker 6 (43:15):
But Chase fixing man, Smile, be proud.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
You still have a fighter on your team. It's ready
to go.
Speaker 6 (43:24):
We're not gonna give up.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
We're not out of it. And guess what, we can
very well win this stay. So look, smile man. To
all you up at your Broni's counsel Christmas Peace and
then he went home. Right, yeah, man, I didn't realize
that that's where we pulled the Big mistake.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
And you know why we pulled it from there? Why
because he didn't say it on the show.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
Dude, that's what I was saying. I didn't.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
I couldn't believe it when that became a legend.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Right right, I thought that that was from the show.
I didn't realized that that was from the camp.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
I watched every moment of Q on forty six looking
for Big Mistake to put it in our intro.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
I couldn't find it.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
So it was just in the cameo, and I had
asked him to do it, and but I feel like
it was a thing that people said when they talk
about Q, and I just couldn't find the footage anywhere.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
I thought so too, that's insane. And also the part
where he goes, uh uh, you pulled something else from
this video. We could very well win this thing. Yeah,
we could very well win this thing. Yeah, I thought
that was when he said on the show. I didn't
realize that was from the cameo. We paid him to
say that and then used it in the intro. So
that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
Yeah, I thought it would be so funny, and I
knew how much you loved Q. Yeah, so surprising you
with a Q MEO it was. It was a great moment.
We didn't even have it. We didn't have a podcast
or anything back then.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
We just did it for fun. Yeah. I mean, you
guys have done some really fun stuff for me during
some of these seasons. But the CMEO is, yeah, gotta
be the top.
Speaker 1 (44:57):
We got one contestant to harass you, you're hissing knowledge
was fun too. But Q, I'm so excited he could
bring back the Q skirt. Q on season fifty is
a big deal. I need a Q and Coach alliance, dude.
And what's crazy is they would probably dominate together. Also
from season forty six, because we got three people from
season forty six, which makes sense because that was a
(45:20):
very entertaining cast. This next one though a little surprising
to me. We have Tiffany.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
Yeah, Tiffany thirty four years old. She finished eighth on
that season and she has two total Challenge wins.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
But I will say Tiffany, she gave a lot in confessionals.
She wasn't like doing what people in forty eight do
where they barely say anything and they just kind of
state the obvious.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Yes, she was very entertaining. I'm excited to see her
because that's the thing about returning seasons, especially back in
the old days when everyone had only played once and
then they come back for a returning season. Legends are
made in returning seasons.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Yeah, and I'm to Tiffany. I drafted her because she
found an idol on like the first or second episode,
so I was like, yeah, I'll bet on that, and it.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Was a good bet. I mean, she finished eighth, so
it's like, you know, she went pretty far in the season.
Speaking of people who went to I.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Think she was my first round pick. Why isn't she real?
Season forty six real?
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
I took Charlie in the third round. But we'll get
to him.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
Yeah, I mean speaking of him from season forty six, Charlie.
So Charlie. Here's the thing about Charlie. He is the
same age as D. He's twenty seven, which means that
he's the youngest male on this season. So Charlie and
d are the youngest players in season fifty by a lot.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Charlie, he's on my mount Rushmore right under d.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Yeah, he was the runner up of season forty six,
so he made it farther than both Q and Tiffany.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
And what it was brutal having drafted him and really
been rooting for him, and then for him to get betrayed.
He got betrayed by Maria's She flipped her vote to
Kinzie and he lost by one vote. And he lost
by one vote because it would have been a tie.
And then Ben Katzman said he would have voted for Charlie.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
In the tie.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
Yeah, that's a brutal way to lose man, it is.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
And but now he's coming back. He has a seven
total Challenge wins. Now you you really, you really rode
hard for Charlie in that season. I'm not gonna draft
him unless I have.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
Hey, he was one of the only people thinking really
strategically in that season and in the midst of the chaos.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
Yeah, he was a good players.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
Lots of Taylor Swift references. Will probably get some more
of that in season fifty.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Yeah. I didn't care much for that, so it was
a bit.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
It was a big Katy Perry season for us this
year with the Gale and the Blue Origin stuff. It
might be a Taylor Swift season in fifty.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
I hope not. Next up this is this is someone
that Jonathan drafted in season forty seven and she.
Speaker 1 (48:12):
Almost put a Banu tattoo on Chase's body.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Explain that ladies, ladies and gentlemen, Genevieve is coming back
for season fifty insane because I made a statement not
too long ago.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
We had an argument about this, didn't.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
We Yeah, we did, we did. We did have an
argument about this. Here's the backstory. When we were drafting
for season forty seven, and this was the first season
of us doing making the merge the podcast, Jonathan drafted Genevieve. Yeah,
he had the first very quickly. He drafted her first
out of everybody, had the pick of everybody on the show.
(48:49):
He drafted Genevieve and we had not seen but two
Genevieve confessionals in two episodes, so we didn't even know
what she looked like. Yeah, like me, PD were blown
away that she was the first draft pick out of
the entire draft. So when he does that, we're kind
(49:11):
of furious and I go, Genevieve will not win this game.
Genevieve won't even make the merge, and then I go,
and I go. In fact, if Genevieve makes it to
the final three, I will get a tattoo on my
body of your choosing. It very quickly became a Bonu tattoo,
because of course it did. Yes, Genevieve went on to
(49:34):
play a pretty good game.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
She was one episode away from the final.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
Three, and I was sweating. Dude. Yeah. So then the
other the other week, we're all arguing, or maybe it
was just me and you, but we're arguing about Genevieve
coming back for season fifty, and I was like, I
can see her coming back for season fifty. She ain't
gonna win. And I mean, and I even said, I
even said, I'll bring the bet back.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
What You're gonna bring the Genevieve Banu bet back for fifty?
I might, Man, I'm gonna have to how she plays,
we raise mistakes. If she makes merge, you gotta get
the Banu tattoo.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
Is that No, that's too easy, that's too easy? Too easy? Okay?
Speaker 1 (50:17):
Then what's the number? Can we can we make it
final five?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
It's final three, dude.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Okay, So it has to be the same bet. I
think so, But I'm just trying to get just Bonu
tattoo on you.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
Well, that's the thing is, I might change it up
because we might watch season the first episode and I
might be like, listen, guys, if Joe makes merge, I'll
get this fucking tattoo. Like yeah, it doesn't have to
be just Genevieve, you know, yeah, but we'll see because
it would be funny because that was like, that was
one of the big themes of our our podcast for
season forty seven. We were like one chase closer to
(50:51):
the Banu tattoo, and like I would root. I wanted
Genevieve to win the game if I didn't win, because
I wanted you at the band new tattoo and for
be a winner. My wife was furious with me because
we were watching every week and it was really looking
like she was gonna make it in the file three
and Elizabeth was like, I cannot believe that you did that.
(51:12):
And I was like, it's entertainment, baby, you don't know.
I'm a showman.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
But she mightn't want to see Bondi on your body forever.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Yeah. Well, I mean that's the thing is, like I
think the tattoo we've discussed it would.
Speaker 1 (51:24):
Be like a heart, yea, what willian hearts above it?
Speaker 2 (51:27):
It would say what willion hearts above it? You know?
But I actually kind of really wanted to get it
because I thought it would go viral on TikTok.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
Yeah, so hey, Genevieve or whoever we end up doing, yea,
hopefully if.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
We end up doing it, it has to feel right,
you know.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
Yeah, let's still want to force it. Genevieve a little bit.
She made decisions that confused me, like when she aligned
herself with Rome and then she voted out Saul after.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Rome went home.
Speaker 1 (51:57):
I don't understand because she could have been she could
have pulled Saul in, yeah, and he could have been
a number for her. I didn't get that. And then
her fixation on what Kashawn said to her that was
like the big driving force of her confessionals and everything
about how like she really struggled to separate her emotions
(52:18):
from the game and then so she just like cut
herself off and like it was becoming a ruthless what
do they call it a game bot?
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Right? Basically? Yeah, she I mean, she's just one of
those players and we see them often. She plays hard,
she's memorable because she plays hard, but she just didn't.
She just didn't make it to the to the final three,
you know, and an Operation Italy was also that was
a big moment. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
I mean, ultimately didn't do anything, but for that one
week it was awesome.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
You can't deny that because at that point of the
season it had slowed down.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Yeah, you should go listen to me and Jonathan recap
that episode where we're like, this is the greatest episod, So.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Did Survivor history the best move ever?
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Like this saved us and now Genevieva Andy can win
the game and we were wrong about everything.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Yeah. Yeah, that was one of those that I missed. Yeah,
because even after it happened, I did the math and
I was like, I don't think Operation Italy even did
idy thing, Like at the end of the day, it
was so complicated for it to be a pretty basic
vote out. Yeah, all right, moving on, We're getting three
(53:31):
players from Survivor forty eight, which is crazy. I think
I was a little critical of it at first, where
I was like, why do we need three players from
Survivor forty eight? But after I read out these players,
we can talk about it.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
Yeah, we just talked about them for three months, so
we can be a little bit more brief about these guys.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
Yeah. So Camilla is thirty one years old. She finished fourth,
she was almost she lost at fire Making. She would
have won the season if she would have won fire Making.
I think it's safe to say I'm so pumped to
see her back. Yeah, she won eight total challenges. Look, Camilla,
I think deserves to be back. Out of anyone in
(54:11):
season forty eight, She's the one I'm most excited to
see come back. Next up also coming back the winner
of season forty eight. One of two winners coming back. Kyle.
He's thirty one years old, he was the winner of
season forty eight, and he has nine total challenge wins.
I feel like he is the we have the most
(54:33):
to say about Kyle coming back.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
Probably, I do think that Kyle deserves to come back
because he won. But I would rather just see Camilla
from this season, I think, But don't. I don't mind
Kyle being on the cast. I think Kyle gave a
lot even if nobody nobody could do anything about the
Power Alliance, everything that he did worked out great for him.
(54:56):
So we were pretty critical of him. But at the
end of the day, he won the game.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Yeah, I think this is going to be a really
great opportunity for him because it seemed like he wanted
to play a really hard game, but he played it
in a season where nothing happened. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
Mary talks about it in her exit press pretty much
every interview she did where she's like I had a
conversation with Kyle where I was like, is this the
kind of game that you want to play?
Speaker 2 (55:22):
Like, is this what you came out here to do.
I'm just curious to see how he does. Because here's
the thing. He either shows up in fifty is a
target immediately because he won the most at the Because
here's the thing. They are all flying to Fiji right now.
They will not get to watch season forty nine. The
(55:43):
last season that every Survivor player in Season fifty watch
before they got on the plane was season forty eight.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
There's two people from forty nine. They just stayed in
Fiji and they didn't go anywhere. That's insane and that's
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
That's what happened historically, like Rupert with Pearl Islands to
All Stars. The most famous example of this happening is
Russell Hans because no one. So Russell Hans played this evil,
super strategic crazy game his first time playing, and then
(56:18):
he came back immediately for the next season. No one
got to see his season. Wow, so they didn't understand
what kind of player he was. So he'd got to
do it again. And that's the biggest strategic thing. And
we'll get that when we talk about the season forty
nine players at this But the reason I brought it
up was Kyle is the most recent winner on any
(56:40):
of their minds. So when they show up on the
beach in Fiji, they're all gonna probably be gunning for
Kyle because he just won the million dollars. So either
he shows up and he goes out early, or he
proves that he's an actually really good player he deserved
to win Season forty eight. Maybe he'll even win again
and prove himself to be one of the best winners
of Survivor history. I'm excited to see him.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
I think I prefer for it to be just him
and Camilla from this season because they were the duo
and they ended up winning the game, and Camilla was
a huge part of him winning the game because, like
we said, I think he sealed it with the jury
when she lobbed up that pass to him and then
he dunked it.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Do you think that they're gonna team up.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Potentially, No, I think they're too smart. I think they're
both too smart. You don't think they'll try to do
another secret alliance that, no.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
One, I don't even think. I feel like, first of all,
they're going to be separated. It's like, who knows.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
One of them could get voted out and be on
a different tribe and they just never even get the chance.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
To leak up. They might not be separated, they might
end up on the same starting tribe.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
I don't know if they would do that, though, I like,
I feel like people with connections, they might put them
on different tribes just to shake it.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
Previous and previous seasons, that's not been the case. Really. Yeah,
because and we'll go over this.
Speaker 1 (57:55):
I yes, Jeff wants the target or like he wants
the drama of what will they do if they's a.
Speaker 2 (57:59):
Good think what it boils down to is I think
what it boils down to is it doesn't matter at
this point because all of these people know each other,
they're all friends. Yeah, you know what I mean, so
it's like it's like the first All Stars when Boston,
Rob and Lex had something planned going into the game.
So there's gonna be some pregaming stuff. And that's where
Kyle and Camilla are a bit of a disadvantage because
(58:21):
they don't know them as well as you know someone
like Coach or Ozzy, who has been a part of
the Survivor kind of club for years and years and years. Anyway,
the final returning player from season forty eight, probably the
most head scratching person on season fifty Joe. Joe is
(58:42):
coming back, which I think I think he was.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
He's popular with the more casual viewers of Survivor who
are not on the internet.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
Forty five years old, second runner up the season forty
eight eleven total challenge wins. I mean, dude, I think
it's the kind of thing of like, hey, you don't
have EVA this time, so let's see what kind of
game you play. I'm just interesting. I think he has
a great story. He was really good in challenges. Yeah,
I mean I'm curious. I'm not super excited to see
(59:12):
him come back, but I am excited to see what happens.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
Yeah, I am really interested to see how I'm interested
to see how all these like every New Era player
interacts with the legends. It's just it's gonna be one
because we've never gotten this. This is the first returning
season since.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
The New Era. What thirty nine, right? Forty forty winners
at war? Yeah, well so that's that's the case. Then
there's gonna be two players from season forty nine that
come back. What that tells me? Because they could have
just done one player from season forty nine. Tells me
that it might be a very entertaining cast, just like
(59:52):
season forty eight. Do you think the winner of season
forty nine is going to come back and we'll get
three winners coming back New Era winners. I have not, imitt.
I feel like there's no point in speculating just because
we know none of them. That's true, very very true. Uh,
(01:00:12):
A few things I just want to talk about from
this cast, because I know we've gone an hour already.
We can go as long as we want. Brothers the offseason, True,
I'm the only winners. The only returning winners are from
New Era. There are no Old era winners coming back. Yeah,
that's interesting. I'm very excited to see the previous challenge
(01:00:37):
beasts like Ozzie go up against someone who is a
more current challenge beast and and younger. Q is only
thirty one years.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Old, but remember Q was not a challenge beast. He
actually struggled, right.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
But I just meant age wise, like Q thirty one
years old. Ozzy is forty three. Yeah, but Joe is
older than Nazi and he looked great, very true. Joe
is forty five and he was a challenge beast. Him
and Kyle were the challenge beasts. I'd love to see.
I don't know. I'm just so excited to see all
(01:01:15):
of these people interact because it's gonna be such a
mix of people like Joe who want to play an
honorable game and people from the old era who cut throats.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
And this season we're not gonna or for season fifty,
we're not gonna wait two episodes because we will already
know all of these people, so there's no point in
watching a couple episodes, and then at that point we
can all have six players.
Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
So and let me ask you this, and we can
keep this in because I think it's interesting, and the
fans over on Patreon can put in the live chat
what they think we won't know anything about the season.
Forty nine players, Well, yeah we will because we'll have
seen the season. Yeah, okay, so how many total players
is this? Twenty two twenty four? I think Jonathan said,
(01:02:03):
unless he counted it wrong, twenty four twenty four players
six each. That's insane.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Yeah, we only get four. It's gonna be nice to
have six. But man, how long is the season gonna be?
Are they gonna add a couple X episodes? They're not
from what I understand, They're not so twenty six format.
So yeah, it's gonna have two double tribals or something like.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
I think we're going to have to have multiple double
elimination That's what I mean. Brutal, dude, dude, this is
what I'm thinking. Is gonna happen on episode one the premiere.
Do you remember that one season where people showed up
on the beach. I don't know if you saw this season,
yet everyone shows up on the beach, they pick teams,
one person doesn't get picked, and they just go home. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
That was the most brutal thing I've ever seen on server.
You think that's gonna happen?
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
I mean, I think we're gonna get at the least,
we're gonna get a double elimination in the premiere at
the least. There's no way because they usually they usually
off with twenty players right in New Era format eighteen
right or no, it is no draft drafted. That's why
I think that, Yeah, it's twenty, so there's twenty. This
is four more players. But it's the same season, so
(01:03:12):
you're gonna have to do multiple double eliminations. Do you
think it's gonna be three tribes of eight or two tribes?
Is that something we voted on? Did we vote on
three tribes versus two tribes? I don't think so. I
don't think so either. I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
I'm really interested. I'm excited for all of it, for
the draft, for being able to cover it like it.
It feels like a huge deal. It is a huge deal,
and it's gonna feel different, very different. What they've done
good about the New Era, And I think it's important
because what a lot of people people consider the dark
Ages of Survivor was when they were doing these big
(01:03:48):
stunts every season to try to keep people watching, so
they were always bringing people back. They were always doing
these big themes and it started to feel redundant and
not special. This is the first returning season of the
New Era, so that feels special. We're going to see
some changes to the format because there's more players. That
(01:04:10):
feels special.
Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
I mean, dude, how crazy is gonna be a first
episode we get a double elimination. Yeah, someone's down from
six players to four potentially episode one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
I think that I'm probably gonna lose a lot of
sleep during season fifty if there's a double elimination and
I lost both players. I don't think I'm gonna have
a rough week if that was in the cards for me.
But dude, it's gonna be Yeah, it's gonna be so
much fun.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
This is gonna be the best episode of this best
season of this point. Because here's another cool thing. We
have binged the old era in hindsight. So like when
we watch the first seasons and then they get to
that first All Stars, we know the other players because
we watch their seasons, but we weren't as connected to
them as we are to these New Era players because
(01:04:56):
we've been watching live.
Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Yeah, watching live and and drafting and yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Mean, dude, when when d goes home, it's gonna be
devastating for you. Yeah, if I draft her, I think
regardless because you have a connection with her, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Yeah, And on TikTok Yeah, Yeah, like if.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
D, if you don't draft D, you're still gonna kind
of be rooting for D. Yeah. In the same for Q,
I'm gonna be rooting for Q. I'm gonna be rooting
for Ozzie. I'm gonna be rooting for all of these
my favorite players even if I don't draft them. This
season is just gonna be incredible, Dude, I'm so excited.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
Yeah, it'd be a crazy move if I was like,
I'm just gonna retain my team, I'll draft two players
at the.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
End and then but I don't know. We'll have to
We'll have to talk. H We'll have to figure it out.
Because a rule that I've been really pushing for for
season fifty is for the first round, you get first
DIBs on any players that you have drafted previously. So
(01:06:07):
essentially what that would mean is if PD drafts first,
then he gets first DIBs. He can take D, he
could take Charlie, he could take who else do you
got Tiffany, Tiffany like he could take any of those immediately,
he would not be allowed to take Q because I
(01:06:30):
get first DIBs. So if I vote last, when it
gets to me, Q will still be on the table
because no one's allowed to take him until my turn,
and then I can either choose to take Q or not.
The second that first round is over and you either
pick a returning player that you drafted before or you don't.
Everyone is free game.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
At that point, it'll be interesting. Well, well we'll have
a making the merge board meeting and hammer it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Out, because that might be too complicated. Yeah, let's talk
about who you would swap out. Who are like, okay,
three people that you would swap out, and who would
you replace them with? Do you do you have yours
ready to go? Yeah? I did all New Era for mine. Okay,
you go real quick. Okay, So I did a theme
with mine where I picked three New Era players that
(01:07:18):
I would swap for with other people from their season. Oh, okay,
that's a fun way of doing it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
So I would swap Tiffany with someone else from forty six.
And that person is not Bonu, I believe it or not.
It's Venus.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
That's a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
I would put Venus on season fifty because she was
part of what made season forty six so chaotic and
one of the most memorable seasons of the New Era,
because like, socially she was terrible, and but she was
so confident or in cue together and her and Hunter
and the way she went after people on.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Twitter, and she did it in a way that I
thought was hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
And then I would swap Genevieve for I feel like
Andy's the better pick there, I agree, the more compelling
character because he was a very compelling.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Character and a very good player and he made it far. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
And then I would swap Jonathan from forty two with
mary Anne oketch, who is a little spoiler alert, is
the winner of that season, Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
And mary Anne. I'm going to peel back the curtain
here a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
Uh. When I draft, I think like, who is the
most like mary Anne? Because I watched season forty two.
It was my first season back from like watching when
I was a kid, so like a long gap, and
I remember seeing mary Anne on the Beast just so
excited to be there.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
She like gave a little speech about.
Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
How excited she was about Survivor and stuff, and then
she was just this very like outgoing, goofy character but
also very strategic and under the radar.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
So I was like, I've never seen before.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Yeah, I've never seen somebody like this win before, is
what I thought, Like, somebody who is a really charismatic,
like entertaining character but also behind the same teacher like
really yeah, cutthroat. And her speech to the jury, I
remember just being like, this is the best final tribal speech,
like one of the best I've ever seen. I'm excited
(01:09:18):
to watch that. Yeah, I'm a big fan of Maryanne.
She's also from Canada, so shout out to our listeners,
so you got to shout out Canada. But there are
some players, other players that I'm disappointed that didn't make
it on the cast, like jam Jam. I think maybe
he turned it down because he seems to be happy,
(01:09:40):
he seems to be doing fine. He's probably like I won,
I don't I don't need to go back. But Carolyn,
I know her and Jeff have b for whatever I think.
But she was like in the casting process, you just
got cut. But I think she was a big star.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
She is a big star. I'm just not a fan.
I would have rather see Bonu than Caroline.
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
I think for ratings, I think Carolyn might be better
than Bonnu. But Jesse Lopez from forty three is another guy. Actually,
I have a clip that I want to play from him.
Speaker 6 (01:10:15):
There's one thing standing in my way right now, between
me and.
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
A million dollars between me and like being able to.
Speaker 7 (01:10:27):
Between me and be able to give my kids like
that security.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
Everybody was rooting for him to win, and then he
went to fire making and lost, and the whole time
he was talking about like I need, like I'm gonna
win this money for my family, and like I'm gonna
I need to do all these things for my kids,
and like they're depending on me to like come out
here and come back a winner. And he betrayed his
(01:10:51):
closest ally in the game as well, like right before
to get to the final four.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
That sounds entertaining. I can't wait to get there and
watch that season.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
I really wish he had made it. Another guy I
wish had made it was also from forty two. His
name was Omar's.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
Here and talked about him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
Yeah, he was the one that he was like allied
with Jonathan the Hembo. But he's also very strategic. I
I kind of forget how he ended up going out
of the game, but I remember him being like really
smart and how he engineered a lot of the votes
and like in the way he thought about the game.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
That's really cool. Okay, So the three that I would
flip out.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
I would switch out Sorie for Sandra. Understandable. I love SII,
but Sandra like that. They kind of it's like one
A one B for Survivor legends.
Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
They fit that archetype of older woman Survivor legend. And
also I would just like to see no spoilers for
this because I don't know if you've seen these seasons,
but I would love to see Sandra win this season.
It would be really cool just for like statistics and
(01:12:07):
history wise. Yeah, the next person I would flip out
or switch out, I would take out Emily from forty
five and I would actually put in Andy. Okay, so
similar to yours, except I didn't flip out Genevieve for Andy,
(01:12:30):
switch out Emily for Andy. And then the last thing
I would switch out is I would switch out Joe
for Malcolm, mostly because we don't have a lot of
which I don't even know how old Malcolm is at
this point, let me look it up. But we don't
(01:12:52):
have a lot of younger Challenge beasts, if that makes sense,
So Malcolm's thirty nine now. But I still think, like
we just watched Joe play, bringing Malcolm back would have
been really fun because he has a lot a big
history and I still think he'd be able to go
challenge wise, because, uh, I mean, who are the challenge
(01:13:14):
beasts in season fifty. Jonathan he was pretty yes, he
will be a challenge beast. And then other than that,
you got like Q wasn't very good at challenges.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
No, for a guy who was a professional athlete, he
didn't excel at survivor challenges for debt fumbles, That's what
I remember, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
That Oh that was heartbreaking with that. But Kyle and Joe,
I mean, Joe has eleven total challenge wins in one season,
which is most more than most people had. Chrissy from
Heroes Versus Healers Versus Hustlers had thirteen total in one season.
Heroes Versus Healers Versus Hustlers is the dumbest title that
(01:13:56):
they ever produced, they think, and it wasn't the most
fun of the themed like because they did like blue collar,
white collar, and that was fun. The brains versus bron
versus beauty was fun. Like heroes versus villains. Everybody's on
board with that. But you get hustlers versus healers, like,
what are you even talking about? It was like cops
(01:14:18):
and firemen were the heroes, doctors and nurses and stuff,
where the healers and then the hustlers were like business dudes. Gotcha.
It wasn't the bad.
Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
Yeah, I'm glad they don't do themes anymore if they
were like scraping the bottom of the barrel like that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Yeah, but uh, David versus Goliath was an awesome theme
and that was that was way after that one. But yeah, so,
I mean I would want maybe a little because a
lot of the quote unquote Challenge beasts that are coming
back for fifty are in their fifties now, like Colby
(01:14:56):
Ozzie's forty three, which isn't too old, but you know,
prime dude, I mean he's forty three years old with
forty three total Challenge wins. He has one Challenge win
for every year he's been alive.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
When you put it like that, that's why he's a
Survivor Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
He really is.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
There needs to be an official Survivor Hall of Fame
because it bothers me when Johnny Fairplay calls himself that
all the time when it's not a real thing.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
But I mean, he he is survivor. I can do
his intro.
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
How's everybody doing this? Survivor Hall of Famer? Johnny Fairplay here,
and I'm gonna show you my epic new pinball machine
that was sent to me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
You nailed it. That was awesome. Maybe we should make
the official Survivor Hall of Fame. All Right, I'm down.
We'll sit down and we'll really will really work it out.
We'll take it very seriously.
Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Yeah, number one, pick Genevieve.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
All right, let's just do the podcast here, the Making
the Merge podcast. Oh that's another player I really wanted
to see on fifty. Rob See. I listened to uh
because I got the Rob has a podcast Patreon because
I wanted to see what their Patreon exclusive stuff was.
(01:16:10):
And I listened to him talk about not getting on
fifty and Uh. It was very interesting. He was very
nice about it. You could tell maybe his feelings hurt
were hurt. A little bit that he got cut. He
was just honored to even be asked at all. But
the big thing was he was kind of relieved because
(01:16:31):
he wouldn't have been able to podcast for a year. Yeah,
and that would have been detrimental to his business. I imagine, Yeah,
considering it's called Rob has a podcast, and if Rob
is gone for a year, then I mean that would
that would create some problems probably, Yeah, I can imagine
(01:16:52):
that would have been rough.
Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
But maybe they could change the title to Rob doesn't
currently have a podcast. But there are still some people
here like shl shout out Chappelle.
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Because let's do the math here. He wouldn't have been
able to do any podcasts starting today. Yeah, So he
wouldn't have been able to cover forty nine, he wouldn't
be able to cover fifty, and then he wouldn't be
able to talk about anything at all until after. Yeah,
(01:17:25):
because it's impossible for him to do a recap of
the show for hours and hours and not accidentally give
away to slip up and say something. Yeah, yeah, he
did say. Because me and you talked about this because
we were really curious what would happen if he went on.
He did say that once he got the official offer,
he was gonna, like, you know, have his attorneys and
(01:17:46):
stuff send some stuff to be like would it be
possible at all for him to still do podcasts and
executives and stuff. But I think I think he even
said it wasn't very likely.
Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
Him doing ex oppress with the people, Like if they
voted him out and he has to do their interview,
that would be really fascinating.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Even worse, he blindsided something and then has to talk
to him.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
They come on and they're like, we hate you and.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
The making the Merge podcast, Well that's all I got, dude.
I'm excited to talk about fifty but we still have
forty nine first. Yeah, so we got this out of
the way.
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
I'm sure we'll keep bringing it up because I'm gonna
be watching the tape, so I'm gonna be thinking about
it all the time. I'm gonna be grinding that tape,
watching the tape. But it's not it's not gonna be
silent film like they do in the with the sports.
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
There's gonna be sound on watching the tape. And so
what does this mean?
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
Doctor John Lapuk has what you need to know about
all of this, plus there's another of us in that
bizarre case of a crypto investor who allegedly kidnapped and
then tortured him. Very crazy story.
Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
But first it had a team.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
To me check your love weapon.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Very crazy story. Anyways, this has been making the merge.
All right, guys, we'll see you when we get done
watching the tape.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Grind to the tape.
Speaker 3 (01:19:14):
