yourself.

your deeper purpose.
Welcome back to another episodeof man Uncaved.
(00:26):
I am your host, shane, and fororder for us to truly step into
our greatest potential, we needto come out of hiding.
So in this show, we're going totalk about how do we step out
into our truest potential, creating a life that actually
resonates with meaning andbreaking free from our daily
(00:49):
grind.
So today we're going to divedeep into a powerful topic from
surviving to thriving.
Now, I know there's many men outthere that feel they're stuck
in survival mode.
Life feels like a constant race.
It's just work, obligations, bills and responsibilities and,
(01:11):
before you know it, you're justgoing through the motions.
But here's the thing there's ahuge difference between
surviving and actually thriving.
So in today's episode, we'regoing to explore how to shift
from merely getting by to livingwith true purpose, passion and
(01:31):
fulfillment.
We're going to talk about howto identify your core values,
your passions and your goals, and how to align your life with
them to create a richer, moremeaningful existence.
Now, this isn't just aboutmaking it through each day.
This is about building a lifethat excites you, a life that
(01:56):
fills you with energy, a lifewhere you wake up each day with
a sense of purpose.
So if you're ready to move fromjust surviving into truly
thriving, let's dive in.
The first thing, let's take amoment to recognize what it
actually means to be justsurviving.
(02:16):
Now, we've all been there, haven't we?
We wake up, we're going throughthe motions and maybe we're
feeling a little sense ofemptiness or dissatisfaction,
but not quite sure how to breakfree from it.
Life actually becomes like aseries of obligations instead of
opportunities.
It's as if you're just goingthrough the motions without any
(02:40):
real sense of passion or purpose.
So how do you know if you'resurviving and not thriving?
Well, here's some key signs thatI've come up with that I think
can help you to get more clearif you are just surviving or
thriving.
You're feeling constant burnout.
(03:01):
You feel drained.
More often than not, it's hardto get excited about anything
and you're just trying to getthrough the week.
Another one is a lack ofclarity.
You're not sure what you trulywant from life.
It feels like you're workinghard but not really moving
(03:21):
towards anything meaningful.
Another one is you might feelreally disconnected.
You feel disconnected from yourdeeper self, your values or
even the people around you.
If any of these resonate withyou, don't worry, you are not
alone.
I'm telling you myself, and Ihave talked with countless other
(03:43):
men.
Many men are experiencing this.
But here's some good news it'spossible to turn this around.
You don't have to stay insurvival mode.
On the other hand, thrivingmeans being fully engaged with
life.
It means living with intention, having a deep sense of purpose
(04:05):
and aligning your actions withyour core values.
It's about waking up every dayexcited to live your truth and
create something meaningful inthe world.
So how do we go from survivalto thrive?
Well, the first step is to getclear on what truly matters to
(04:25):
you Now, your core values andyour passions.
These are the guiding lightsthat will help you create a life
full of purpose.
So here's some couple ofquestions.
Let me ask you a questionwhat's the one thing that, when
you think about it, excites you?
(04:46):
What makes you come alive?
Is it creativity?
Is it building connection?
Is it growth, freedom,adventure?
(05:07):
Often we can lose touch withour passions because life gets
busy and we focus too much onexternal obligations family,
work, responsibility but tothrive, you need to reconnect
with what drives you at yourcore.
Now here's a simple exercise toget started Sit down, take a
moment, moment and reflect onyour values.
Think about moments in your lifewhen you felt truly fulfilled.
(05:31):
What were you doing at thosemoments?
Who were you with?
How did you feel?
Now write down your values andyour passions and ask yourself
what lights me up inside?
What do I care about deeply?
What do I want to contribute tothe world?
(05:53):
Once you identify those corevalues, you have the foundation
for your life's mission.
But that's not all for yourlife's mission.
But that's not all.
Once you've identified yourcore values and passions, it's
(06:17):
time to set clear, intentionalgoals that align with them.
This is where the magic startsto happen.
Thriving isn't about randomsuccess or just working harder.
It's about aligning youractions with your deepest
desires and purpose.
You can start by askingyourself what do I want to
create in my life?
Now?
Think about it, not just in thenext year or five years, but in
(06:38):
the next decade.
Do you want a career that feelsfulfilling, not just
financially rewarding?
Do you want deeper connectionswith your family and friends.
Do you want to give back tocommunity or start a meaningful
project?
Here's a powerful framework thatI've used.
It's called the SMART goalsmethod.
(07:00):
A lot of you probably haveheard of it before.
It's simple, but it works.
So let's break down SMART goalsmethod.
A lot of you probably haveheard of it before.
It's simple, but it works.
So let's break down SMART,which stands for Specific,
measurable, achievable, relevantand Time-bound.
So first let's talk aboutspecific.
(07:20):
Your goal needs to be crystalclear.
The more specific you are, theeasier it is to take focused
action.
For example, instead of sayingI want to get in shape, try this
, I will work out three times aweek for 30 minutes at the gym,
focusing on strength trainingand cardio.
That's specific.
You know exactly what you'regoing to do.
(07:43):
Specific you know exactly whatyou're going to do, when and
where.
It's not about just vague ideas.
It's about actionable plan.
Next, let's talk aboutmeasurable.
You want to be able to trackyour progress.
If you can measure your success, you'll stay motivated and know
when you've reached your goal.
Take the same example I want towork out three times out of the
(08:07):
week for 30 minutes at the gymand I will track my progress
with a fitness app.
Now you can measure yourworkouts, track how much weight
you've been lifting, or even seeyour cardio performance improve
.
This makes it easier tocelebrate wins along the way.
Now the A achievable this meansit should be realistic given
(08:31):
your current resources and time.
If you set a goal that's toofar out of reach, you might get
discouraged before evenbeginning.
For example, instead of sayingI will lose 30 pounds in a month
or a more achievable goal wouldbe I will lose one or two
pounds per week over the nextthree months by making healthier
(08:54):
food choices and working outregularly.
Next up, relevant your goalshould matter to you.
It should align with yourvalues and your broader life
objectives.
If you're someone who valueshealth and longevity, a goal
like I will stop smoking by theend of the year could be
(09:17):
incredibly relevant.
Or maybe your goal is toimprove work-life balance is to
improve work-life balance, soyou might say I will reduce my
work hours to 45 per week tomake more time for family.
When your goal is relevant, itfeels purposeful and you're more
likely to stay committed.
(09:37):
And now the T.
Let's talk about time bound.
Every goal needs a deadline.
Without one, there's no urgencyand it's easy to put it off
indefinitely.
Let's say you have a financialgoal.
Instead of saying I will savemoney, say I will save $5,000 by
the end of the year, puttingaside $500 every month.
(10:01):
By setting a specific timeframe, you create a sense of urgency
and accountability which keepsyou on track.
This method can keep youfocused.
It can keep you organized andmoving in a direction of your
dreams.
Now let's talk about the dailyhabits that will keep you on
(10:24):
track and make sure you'rethriving, not just surviving.
We all have routines, but arethose routines setting us up for
success or are they keeping usstuck?
Success doesn't happen byaccident.
Stuck Success doesn't happen byaccident.
(10:46):
It's about creating rituals andhabits that nurture your
physical, emotional and mentalwell-being.
Start by establishing a morningroutine that sets a positive
tone for the day.
This could be a quickmeditation session, journaling
your thoughts, a gratitudepractice or a short workout.
Now, when you start your dayintentionally, you're actually
(11:08):
giving yourself the best chanceto thrive Throughout your day.
Incorporate moments ofreflection and recalibration.
Ask yourself regularly am Iliving in alignment with my
values?
Am I moving closer to my goals?
And at night, have a wind downritual that helps you reflect on
(11:31):
the day, let go of any tensionand prepare to rest.
A great night's sleep is soessential for your well-being
and it's crucial for stayingenergized and motivated.
Thriving is actually a journey.
It's not a destination.
We never truly arrive, andthat's the beauty of it.
(11:54):
Life is about a constant growthand evolution.
As you pursue your goals, you'll face obstacles,
guaranteed You'll make mistakesand sometimes you'll feel like
giving up, but it's in thosemoments that you learn the most
about yourself and the worldaround you.
(12:15):
Don't be afraid of change oruncertainty.
Afraid of change or uncertainty.
In fact, welcome it.
The more you lean into growthand embrace challenges, the more
you evolve into the bestversions of yourself.
Remember, thriving isn't aboutperfection, it's about progress.
It's about living intentionallyand being in alignment with
(12:38):
your deeper purpose.
This was today's episode ofmoving from surviving to
thriving.
I hope this was helpful inmoving you forward and giving
you some tools to help you getaligned with your core values
and purpose so you can have ameaningful life.
I truly believe this is oursoul's mission here.
