Yvette Sitters (00:00):
Welcome to the Manage my Wedding podcast, where
we believe your wedding is themost important time in your life
and you deserve to feelsupported and organised when
planning the wedding of yourdreams.
I'm your host, yvette Sidders.
Hello and welcome back to theManage my Wedding podcast and

(00:20):
welcome to those who are new forthe first time listening.
I want to talk about today.
You know that huge excitementthat you get in those last few
weeks before the wedding butwhat can also turn into complete
exhaustion.
Like we all want that weddingglow.
Everyone wants to turn up atthe wedding and have that

(00:42):
wedding glow, as everyone callsit, but we can end up with like
really late nights and havingcrammed way too much into those
final weeks.
You know that's when theoverwhelm can creep in.
You know you might be worriedthat you might miss important
details and you're struggling toreally balance daily life with
the wedding planning becausethat can just seem like so much.

(01:04):
So I want to talk through allof that today and help you
mitigate that problem, becausethose last few weeks before the
wedding are so crucial and so soimportant and I know during my
final weeks I found it hard likereally hard to concentrate at
work.
So I'm, for one, really, reallyglad that I took the last week

(01:29):
off, because I think I'd prettymuch clocked off anyway.
I remember closing like myoffice door all the time, like
telling my team I was working onsomething important and doing
wedding things, because yourbrain just switches off.
That's all you can think about.
There's lots of things to do.
The anticipation, you know,it's all a lot.
So, please, I want to recommendthat you definitely take that

(01:50):
week off in the leader.
I cannot recommend that enough, even if you're like but I'm so
organized, like I've got thecalm bride planner from manage
my wedding, yes, yes, but still,I'm telling you, you want that
final week off just to go andget massages or to go for walks

(02:11):
or to look after your health andmake sure you're getting plenty
of sleep and resting and allthose things.
So, yes, take it from me,you're not going to do much work
anyway.
Now, luckily, most of my guestsdidn't actually arrive until a
couple of days before my wedding.
We were in Perth, as most ofyou know, getting married, so
everyone had to travel to us,and I think it really saved me

(02:32):
that I was kind of like on myown.
I took the whole week off.
James took, I think, from theWednesday or the yeah, no, the
Wednesday off, because we gotmarried on the Friday.
So he had the WednesdayThursday off, you know, and that
was fine because I was the onein Christ in the wedding
planning, but everyone elsedidn't really arrive till
Tuesday or mostly even Wednesdayfor our wedding.

(02:53):
So I spent the first few daysoff work, checking in on my
vendors and confirming all thedetails which is something I
highly recommend you do makingsure they're going to turn up
and that you're all on the samepage.
You know, I spent it packing myovernight bag and getting
things to the venue, making acouple of changes to the floor
plan because we had someone thatcouldn't make it.

(03:13):
So just little things like that.
Those little things add up andtake time, and I'm just so
grateful for the fact that I wasorganized because when my
guests actually arrived into thestate I could spend time with
them when they arrived.
And it was so busy in the lastlike day, I reckon the last 48

(03:36):
hours it was pretty busy as well.
You know, there were lunches, there were dinners, there were
spray tans, they were gettingnails done, there was a
rehearsal the day before and allthose little things, and
everyone trust me texts you andeveryone phoned you.
And I just remember getting amessage from someone who's like
hey, do you know what my roomnumber is?

(03:56):
Because they haven't got a roomreserved for me.
And I'm like well, everyonebooked their own rooms.
I am busy, like it's not reallymy problem, but people don't
think, they just don't know, sothey just message you.
And I'm just a person whoalways wants to help people, so
I go into you know, fixing asituation, but you'll get lots

(04:17):
of messages like hey, what timeis the bus that's picking us up,
even though there was a weddingwebsite, even though there was
a letter left in their room withall the details.
It's just what humans do, let'sbe honest.
So I mentioned before, at thestart of the podcast, that
wedding glow that we are alltrying to achieve, that we want

(04:38):
everyone to say, oh my gosh, youlook so wedding Ready.
And what gives you that, like, what gives you that, what makes
you have that wedding glow?
Well, I'm telling you, it isnot just about a stunning bridal
gown or a fancy suit.
It's how you actually look inthe face when everyone looks at

(04:58):
you that relaxed and calm and inlove and healthy look.
It's not eating sugar and notdrinking alcohol, potentially in
the last couple of weeks, because that does show in your
skin.
Stress shows.
We all know how much stresswill show, and being tired will

(05:20):
show very much.
You know, no matter what amakeup artist can do and how
brilliant they are, if you werestressed and you've had no sleep
, there's only so much they cancover that up.
So you want sleep, you want tobe organised so that you can
focus on your lover and theperson you're marrying and so
that you look so happy to bethere and not exhausted and over

(05:44):
at all.
That's why I truly believe itis just so important to have
like a roadmap for those finalweeks and even those last you
know few months, and that'sexactly why I created, you know,
your final 90-day wedding guide, which is my stress-free
countdown.
I created it so that you knowwhat to action and what to

(06:05):
prioritise, in exact order, soyou can stay on track, eliminate
any stress and anxiety, so thatnothing is missed and you get a
restful night's sleep, so thatyou can have that wedding glow
on the day that you're trying toachieve.
So if you have not seen that.
I'm going to link it in theshow notes because it's honestly
, oh, I love it so very, verymuch, and it's perfect if you're

(06:28):
in the last 90 days or in thelast month.
It covers absolutely everythingand it is worth having because
it will save your sanity and getyou to sleep and help you get
that wedding glow.
Now, what are some practicaltips for staying calm?
Because I think that's reallyreally important.
One of the things is delegatingyour tasks, but the right ones

(06:50):
that are not going to affect youor stress you out because you
don't have control over them, and I give a big, complete list
of all those delegating tasksthat you need to delegate out to
rid you of any stress and tohave people not interrupting you
constantly the day before andthe day of the wedding.
And it's asking others to runaround and collect your last

(07:13):
minute things as well Like thatis really important.
Lean on, people ask for theirhelp, and it's also important
for leaving what I call whitespace in your calendar.
Now, what is white space?
Well, for me, white space and Ido this in my business as well
it allows us to have space toput our attention on something

(07:38):
that might need attention.
If your calendar for yourwedding is full of lunches and
dinners and appointments, thenthere's no time to actually fix
anything or talk to vendors whoneed you or if something is
potentially gonna go wrong andneed your attention.
You don't have any space inyour calendar because you filled

(08:01):
it up.
So I call that white space, just blocking out white space.
Even if that is like 9 am till11 am every morning in the last
week of your wedding, whateverthat looks like to you, or even
if that's three till 5 pm, justleave some white space where
there's nothing booked in, noreminders, nothing, so you can

(08:24):
either sit on the couch and gooh my God, I just need to sit
because I'm tired, or I need tomeditate because I'm super
anxious and nervous, or I'vejust had a phone call to say
that the cake maker's sick andshe's not gonna finish the cake.
Okay, I've got time to sit downand find a cake maker.
So it's just really, reallyimportant leaving white space,

(08:46):
because I think it helps youstay calm, it gives you time to
react to things or just tolisten to what your body needs.
So I think that is super, superimportant.
You know your wedding day isone of the most important
celebrations, days, occasions, whatever you want to call it in

(09:08):
your life, and it's meant to betotally cherished and you're
meant to enjoy it and you'remeant to embrace the moment and
look and feel your best.
So these things that I've justshared are just so important I
cannot stress them enough.
Please, again, if you haven'tchecked out my stress-free

(09:28):
wedding guide in that final 90days, please go, do that.
I'm going to link it in here.
Please delegate tasks, as Isaid.
Please have others help you runaround.
Please create white space.
Please look at you, know whatyou're eating, the sleep that
you're getting, and rememberalso that, yes, there are people

(09:49):
in your life that love you.
I want to spend time with youin the lead-up, but be good at
saying no in those final weeks.
Honestly.
Be good at saying no, don'thave a million lunches and
dinners, just have thoseimportant ones.
So, yeah, that's just reallywhat I wanted to share with you
in this episode.
I want you to have stress-freelead-up to your big day in those

(10:15):
final weeks, like I truly, truly do.
It's so important to having thebest day ever and it's so
important to having that weddingglow that I know that you all
truly want, because when youhave that wedding glow, you are
enjoying that moment.
You are enjoying it and itshows and everyone else feels
that too, and they will enjoythat moment as well.

(10:35):
So I hope that has helped you.
Thank you so much for listening.
