Carissa Andrews (00:07):
Welcome to
Manifest Differently, the
podcast for neurodivergentthinkers and anyone looking to
approach manifestation in a waythat truly works for them.
I'm your host, carissa Andrews, here to explore the science,
energy and strategies that willhelp you create the life you
love.
Let's dive in and ManifestDifferently.
(00:34):
Hey guys, welcome back toManifest Differently, if you're
new here.
I'm Carissa Andrews and I helpneurodivergent individuals
harness their unique brains tomanifest the life they actually
want.
Now, today we're talking aboutsomething that affects almost
every neurodivergent manifesterI know, including myself.
What is that, you ask?
Oh, my friends, overthinking.
(01:00):
If you've ever found yourselfstuck in analysis, paralysis,
spiraling through every possibleoutcome, or hyper-focusing so
hard that it actually drains youinstead of helps you, then
trust me, you're not alone.
For many years, I thought myoverthinking was a problem I
needed to fix.
I tried to force myself intothe let go and trust mindset,
(01:23):
especially with manifestation.
But the truth is,neurodivergent minds don't work
that way.
So in today's episode, I'mgoing to explain why your
neurodivergent brain worksdifferently when it comes to
manifestation.
We're also going to talk aboutthe science behind why we
overthink and how it actuallyhelps us.
Also, how I've discovered myhyperfocus was sabotaging me and
(01:45):
what I did instead.
And finally, three powerfultechniques you can use today to
turn overthinking into amanifestation superpower.
But before we dive in, ifyou've been around for a while,
if you've heard the otherepisodes, you know what's coming
next.
Let's take a moment to pauseand reset together.
(02:07):
Wherever you are, I want you totake a deep breath in through
your nose, hold for a count offour and exhale slowly through
your mouth, letting your exhalebe longer than your inhale Again
(02:34):
.
Inhale deeply, feel your bodyrelax as you hold and exhale,
releasing any tension.
Body relax as you hold andexhale, releasing any tension.
(02:55):
Let's do that one more timeInhale clarity, hold and exhale
resistance.
When we breathe out longer thanour inhale, it signals our
(03:19):
nervous system to chill out, andthat's part of the reason why I
love that breath work so much.
So now that we're centered, let's dive in.
All right, let's talk about somebrain science, because
understanding this is key to whytraditional manifestation
advice doesn't always work forus Neurodivergent brains.
(03:40):
Whether you're ADHD, autisticor somewhere in between, we're
all wired for deeper patternrecognition.
We process more data at once, which is why we're prone to
overthinking.
But here's the key we don'tjust overthink randomly.
We overthink because our brainsare naturally scanning for
connections and solutions.
(04:00):
So here's two waysneurodivergent brains handle
manifestation differently.
Number one we hyper focusinstead of letting go.
Neurotypical manifestationadvice often says set your
intention and release it to theuniverse Like surrender it all.
But for us that's like tellinga dog not to chase a squirrel.
(04:21):
It's just not how we're built.
Our brains want to keepthinking, analyzing and
adjusting, and that's actuallyan advantage if we learn to
direct that focus correctly.
Part of the problem that we endup in is that our past kind of
dictates how we focus, how wehyper-focus and what we're
looking for, and typically thatlooks like trying to keep
(04:43):
ourselves safe, right?
If we had a dysfunctionalchildhood or if we had issues at
school, we're literallyscanning the world to try to
keep ourselves from ending up ina position that we don't want
to end up in.
So that's part of the problemwith our mentality, and
something that we're going totalk about in a second.
But number two, we're alsowired for that pattern
(05:04):
recognition, right?
Have you ever noticed that youcan connect dots that other
people just don't Like?
Maybe you have a wide spectrumof interests, like I do, and
they sometimes seem completelyunconnected, uncorrelated, but
then you find these overlaps, that piece.
There.
That's your superpower.
Your mind naturally looks forpatterns, which means you can
(05:27):
train it to notice evidence ofmanifestation working, instead
of that whole scanning forwhat's not working and how you
gotta keep yourself safe, right?
So if you're constantlynoticing why something isn't
happening, your brain willhyper-focus on that and then
your reticular activating systemwill kick in and it will
continue to look for all thereasons why it's not working.
(05:48):
But if you train it to find theproof that things are shifting,
that you are building momentum, you're going to see momentum
way faster than most people.
So let me take you back to whenI was deep in the trenches of
overthinking.
I had one goal in mind when Ifirst became an indie author and
that was to become amillionaire indie author.
(06:09):
I visualized it, I obsessedover it, I worked tirelessly
toward it, but instead ofsuccess or at least the success
I was thinking about I feltfrantic, stuck and completely
exhausted.
It was really kind of wildbecause I wanted so much to have
this thing and I know andimplement all the manifestation
techniques.
(06:29):
But I also couldn't stop myself.
There was like this componentto it where I felt almost
addicted to the thoughts I washyper-focusing on, and I later
realized that this hyper focuswas like literally the wrong end
of the stick, as Abraham Hickstalks about right, I was
focusing on the lack, the why itwasn't working.
I was measuring my progress bywhat was not happening instead
(06:54):
of what was.
And, worst of all, what endedup happening was my nervous
system was completelydysregulated because of it all.
So every time I checked my booksales I'd get this spike of
anxiety and frustration.
And what I didn't know then, but I know now is that
manifestation can't flow whenyour nervous system is in fight
(07:14):
or flight, and we've talkedabout nervous system regulation
and why it's such a crucialthing.
Go back and listen to episodethree if you are interested in
that.
So when I realized that, Irealized that I needed to get
curious and not be so criticalof every little thing.
(07:35):
Right, I'm a double Virgo.
It's very easy for me to getcritical of myself, but I knew
that wasn't doing me any favors.
I understood that I was pushingmyself into a dysregulated
state even further.
Right, I mean, I couldn't evensee At this point, as I was in
the trenches, literally, I wasan international bestselling
indie author, I was earning 5kmonths and yet I just I still
(07:59):
didn't feel accomplished.
And, on top of it, I was even anaward-winning author.
I mean, I'm still anaward-winning author, but you
get the point right.
It's like all these littlethings.
I have 30 plus books and I wasnot feeling like a success.
I was feeling like a failure.
So what I did was stop tryingto let go in the neurotypical
way.
Instead, I asked myself what ifI just redirected this energy
(08:21):
instead of resisting it?
And that's when everythingstarted to change for me, which
was really, really wild.
So now for the good stuff.
How do you actually turn thatoverthinking into a
manifestation tool?
Here are my three favoritestrategies that I implemented
that helped shift everything.
That helped me get on the trackof not only manifesting more by
(08:44):
doing less, but feeling betterand feeling more aligned to
everything that I was calling in.
Number one the future selfcircuit breaker.
When you find yourselfspiraling into overthinking, ask
yourself what would my futureself do right now?
Because your future self isn'toverthinking, the one that has
everything, the one that is inthat place of calling everything
(09:07):
in.
They're already moving on tothe next thing.
They already have what you want.
So, looking at everything thatyou're calling in, they're not
going to be feeling like you are.
They're going to be like, ofcourse it's inevitable, like
what it's already happening foryou.
The idea here is to pattern, interrupt, shift your thoughts
from what if this isn't workingor doesn't work to what if it's
(09:30):
already happening?
What if it's already happened?
What if everything that I'mdoing is leading me to my
inevitable, like awesome life,you know?
And when we can do that, itreally helps us to kind of look
at our life and what we'recalling in, how we're viewing it
, entirely differently.
Okay.
(09:51):
So number two this is thesecond tool the 90 second
nervous system reset.
Neurodivergence often gets stuckin fight or flight, which
blocks our manifestations.
It truly does, and if I wouldhave learned about nervous
system regulation and how thisall works sooner, I would have
been talking about it sooner.
I really wish I did.
I don't know why I didn't, butI guess I was probably so
(10:13):
focused on mindset that itdidn't occur to me to even be
thinking about the nervoussystem until, I guess, the past
two years.
But here's a quick trick.
I want you to try it.
I want you to set a timer for90 seconds, then stand up, shake
out your body like shake itlike Taylor Swift style.
Okay, maybe you didn't listento the song, I don't care and
(10:35):
then take three deep breathsThen ask what's the next aligned
action I can take toward?
Whatever that manifestationgoal that you've been hyper
fixating on is like, what is thenext aligned action I can take?
Then listen for the answer Okay, this, actually, this process
actually resets your nervoussystem, getting you out of stuck
(10:57):
energy and into movement, whichis so powerful when it comes to
us, and the way that we can tapinto larger ways of thinking.
I mean, when you look at kidswho are autistic now and they
are able to shake out theirenergy, like when my son was
younger and they were talkingabout autism they often talked
(11:19):
about, like, the handshakingthing, right, the hand flapping
as a sign that your kid could beautistic.
And it was probably one of thefirst things that I noticed
about my son, because he did dothat.
He did release energy.
When he got super excitedTypically when he's playing a
video game, right, he would belike completely shaking out his
hands and trying to get rid ofall this extra energy.
(11:40):
He was just so full of energyand it had to go somewhere.
This is the same kind ofconcept.
Right, you have to release someof this energy that's blocking
your manifestation, this fightor flight energy, because it's
got nowhere else to go.
It's either going to gettrapped in your body or you got
to release it.
So shake it off.
Okay, seriously, use the song ifyou need to.
(12:02):
I think it's just, it would bea fabulous way to do it and get
out of your head.
Okay, number three think it'sjust, it would be a fabulous way
to do it and get out of yourhead.
Okay, number three hyper focusmind movies.
If your brain wants to hyperfocus, feed it something worth
fixating on and we talked aboutmy movies in episode five.
So if you need a refresher onthat, make sure you go back to
episode five.
But every morning I want you tospend two to five minutes either
(12:25):
visualizing or watching yourdetailed, immersive mind movie,
where manifestation is alreadyhappening, it's already real,
it's already yours.
So if you want to learn moreabout those mind movies, how you
can create it yourself, go overto episode five.
You're going to love it.
And I also go into detail withall of that in the future self
(12:46):
blueprint, which is my five daychallenge.
Head over tomanifestdifferentlycom forward
slash future self if you want tocheck that out.
But the more sensory details youadd to your mind movie, the
stronger the signal is to yoursubconscious mind and your
subconscious then starts tocreate, look for and operate
from the basis that all of thisis yours.
(13:08):
It's all happening in favor ofyou and tapping into your
subconscious mind is the root ofeverything.
It's where you want to get to.
It's like it is the ultimate, the ultimate archaeological dig.
Get in there and find whereyour beliefs are lying, because
(13:30):
when you can start to identifyyour current core beliefs and
whether or not they oppose whatyou're looking for.
So much can unlock right.
You can recreate your corebeliefs to match your true
desires and start working in thedirection of manifesting
everything that you want.
True desires and start workingin the direction of manifesting
(13:52):
everything that you want.
All right, my friend, here'syour challenge.
I want you to try one of thesethree techniques today.
Just one, just one.
And then I want you toscreenshot this episode, share
it in your stories and tag mewith your biggest takeaway.
I will definitely be excited tocheck it all out If you can do
it on TikTok, because that iswhere I am hanging out the most.
(14:13):
I am trying to steer clear ofanything meta, but you can still
tag me anyway if you want.
I just might not be able tointeract, but if you do it on
TikTok, I'll be sharing it,reposting it, doing whatever I
can to give you a shout out tosay thank you for that.
And, of course, if you're readyto go deeper into rewiring your
brain for manifestation, I wouldlove for you to join the Future
(14:35):
Self Blueprint Challenge.
This challenge is now open withits official pricing, and I'd
love to help you turn yourneurodivergent mind into your
greatest asset.
While you may have missed ourfounder's price, you can still

you can get signed up rightthere.
Now, guys, remember you don'thave to change who you are to
manifest.
You really don't.
(15:17):
You just have to change how youuse your gifts, how you focus
on them and how you treatyourself, how you talk to
yourself in your own mind.
That's the power that we have.
The more that we can talk goodto ourselves, the more that we
can start seeing what we want tosee in the world versus what
we're not enjoying, the betteroff we're going to be.
(15:39):
And I'll tell you this goes toeverything, like how the world
is looking right now, thecraziness that's happening
outside.
We can observe it, we can checkit out, but we can shift it by
deciding and choosing to call insomething completely different,
like if the politics and theworld as it is right now isn't
calling to you.
(16:00):
Observe it, see what is goingon and go.
Oh no, I want this instead, andthen be vibing with whatever
that difference is rightEquality, you know, more money
for everybody, universal healthcare, whatever it might be,
inclusion for everyone, likequality, like all the things.
(16:21):
Just think about those and putyour energy where that is right,
because where attention flows, energy goes, and we want as much
energy being flowed into thethings that are going to elevate
and change the world for thebetter.
All right, until next time, Iwant you to keep dreaming, keep
aligning and keep manifestingdifferently.
