Carissa Andrews (00:08):
Welcome to
Manifest Differently, the
podcast for neurodivergentthinkers and anyone looking to
approach manifestation in a waythat truly works for them.
I'm your host, carissa Andrews, here to explore the science,
energy and strategies that willhelp you create the life you
love.
Let's dive in and ManifestDifferently.
(00:34):
Well, hey there, welcome back toManifest Differently, the
podcast where we exploremanifestation in a way that
actually works forneurodivergent minds.
I'm your host, carissa Andrews, and today we're diving deep
into a game-changing works forneurodivergent minds.
I'm your host, carissa Andrews, and today we're diving deep
into a game-changing tool forneurodivergent manifestors EFT,
or emotional freedom techniques,or tapping.
I'll be honest, when I firstlearned about EFT, it wasn't
(00:57):
explained very well.
I took a course from DeniseDuffield-Thomas and, as much as
I love her, she didn't reallyexplain at least not to my level
of desire, my neurodivergentlevel of desire how
revolutionary, how important itis, and I didn't understand the
why we tap where we tap.
(01:17):
I didn't even really understandwhat was actually happening in
the body, nor did I understandthe script and why we were
saying things the way they weresaying them.
So if you've ever wondered, like I did, why tapping works,
how it ties to manifestation andwhy neurodivergent thinkers
especially need it, then stickwith me.
Plus, I have a free EFT tappingscript for you.
(01:38):
It's called the Abundance Reset, a tapping script to release
lack and manifest more, and youcan grab that over at
manifestdifferentlycom.
Forward slash eight to startshifting your energy today.
But before we get into thescience and practice of EFT,
let's take a moment to groundourselves.
I'd love for you to take a deepbreath in and exhale, and
(02:10):
exhale.
Now place a hand on your heartand take another deep breath in,
feeling the rise and fall ofyour chest, and exhale.
Just allow yourself to settlein, get present with your body,
(02:35):
because today we're talkingabout how manifestation isn't
just a mental practice, it's afull body experience.
So let's dive into why EFT isessential for neurodivergent
manifestors.
When I personally first got intomanifestation, I thought it was
all this mental game like thismentally attuning my energy to
what I want, being in that highvibrational state by making sure
(02:58):
that my subconscious mind wascompletely and totally in
alignment, because I knew, on aintellectual level at least,
that our mind is like gatekeepernumber one.
If we hold the vibrationalthoughts of good things, it
impacts the rest of our life.
It impacts everything elsebecause our thoughts trigger our
emotions.
I was too focused, though, Ithink, on visualizations,
(03:23):
affirmations and then shiftingmy mindset, which are, like I
said, all of those things arepowerful, but I was missing a
huge piece of that puzzle mybody, okay, and the truth is,
we're electromagnetic beings.
As Dr Joe Dispenza explains, our brain is the electro part of
our electromagnetic field, butour heart our heart is the
(03:43):
magnet.
And where is the heart located?
That's right, it's deeplyrooted in our body.
This means that to fully alignwith what we want to manifest,
we have to integrate our entiresystem, mind and body.
Here's where EFT becomes anon-negotiable for
(04:04):
neurodivergent thinkers.
Many of us have highly sensitivenervous systems.
Whether it's from past trauma, chronic stress or simply the way
our brains are wired, we oftencarry unresolved tension in our
bodies.
This is definitely, definitelythe case for me.
For years, I had TMJ issues andit all started when I was
trying to rapid release my firstseries and I kept thinking I'm
(04:28):
not that stressed, I'm not thatstressed, it's fine,
everything's fine.
But of course, it wasn't fine.
It was me holding on to all thetension and unresolved stress
sitting there in my jaw, in myneck, in my shoulders.
It's all connected.
It went right up over the topof my scalp and it caused TMJ
issues for a long time.
And even now, years later, thisall started in like 2017.
(04:52):
Years later, I'm still workingwith somatic exercises to
unhinge my jaw, to get mynervous system back online, to
be able to calm myself down whenI get stressed out, because for
years, I wasn't using a verysupportive methodology.
So EFT, though, helps us toregulate our nervous system,
(05:13):
which, if you've listened tosome of the other podcast
episodes, you know is superimportant, right, but it helps
to regulate our nervous systemby sending calming signals
through acupressure points, reducing the fight or flight
response, and it makes it somuch easier to receive what
we're calling in when we're inthat state of relaxation of flow
, of having our nervous systembeing tuned into just like
(05:38):
homeostasis, rather than I needto run from this bear right the
fuck now right Now.
We can mentally shift ourthoughts all day long, but if
our body is still holding on tothe stress, the doubts and the
fears, our manifestations won'tfully land and this was
something that really hit hardfor me last year.
So 2024, if you're listening tothis recording later on, so in
(06:01):
2024, I was really doing.
I did so much work, I did somuch mental clearing, I was
doing all the inner child work,I was doing the shadow work, I
was doing everything I could tojust get every like last little
bit of stuff out and some of themanifestations I was calling in
were still not working and Iwas so frustrated because I was
(06:22):
like I teach this stuff, why isthis not working?
Of course that mentality aloneis keeping me stuck right and
it's funny to talk about now.
But, like as a manifestationteacher, when you're in the
thick of it and you're having ahuman experience, it's not so
funny.
You're like why am I havingthis sort of situation, like
what is going on here?
(06:43):
Of course we can't escape thesystem from that place, right?
We have to escape from a higherlevel of consciousness and
really what ended up happeningfor me was intuitively, through
my meditations.
Thankfully, I was still doingthose, I was guided into more
heart coherence and nervoussystem regulation work, which
(07:03):
has been super fascinating.
So let's break down some of thescience behind the process here
so that you can understand whythis is so beneficial.
So EFT combines Chineseacupressure points, like we just
said, with modern psychology torelease trapped emotions, shift
limiting beliefs and regulatethe nervous system.
That's how it's designed, it'swhat it's meant for, and it
(07:25):
works by tapping on specificmeridian points on your body,
while voicing out loud ourcurrent thoughts and then
transitioning them to moreempowering beliefs.
It's super interesting, I knowwhen I first listened to Denise,
she was just like, okay, talkabout the thing that you really
are afraid of, the thing thatyou're not liking, all of the
things, and then start talkingabout why you're going to get it
(07:47):
anyway.
And to me at the time, maybe itwas just because of where I was
at in my manifestation andunderstanding manifestation
journey, but it just didn't makefull sense to me.
So I ended up having to do muchmore research on my own end in
order to dive into it.
I have many books on thesubject now.
I love learning, so to me it'sjust I had to go down the deep
(08:07):
dive and become a generalist,right?
So here's the breakdown of thetapping points and why they
matter.
For those of you who have ever, like, seen someone do tapping,
it looks a little bit wonky, I'mnot gonna lie.
So if you're a littleself-conscious or if you don't
want to be, you know, tappingaway in front of, like, your
spouse or your kids or somethinglike that, I just go into the
(08:28):
bathroom honestly and runthrough the tapping points Takes
about five minutes from startto finish and you feel so much
better when you're done.
Okay, so just a little sidenote tip.
So the first point that I wannatalk about is the karate chop.
So this is the side of the hand, and when you tap on this point
, it addresses subconsciousresistance and helps you to set
(08:51):
up your script.
So it's really beneficial.
Like you just tap your handstogether, like make the two
karate chop hands and literallyjust tap them together, okay.
The second point is youreyebrow point and that's the
place right in between your twoeyebrows.
This, when you tap, isreleasing trauma, fear and
anxiety stored in the amygdala.
(09:11):
It's super helpful.
It just kind of gets you intothat like zone.
I think some of us, evenwithout realizing it, like when
we're trying to remember, we tapthere.
Like we're trying to like getout of our own way, we're trying
to remember things, and that'swhy it's a super critical point.
The third one is the side ofthe eye, so like kind of right
(09:31):
where your eye creases, next toyour temple.
There, when you tap there it'sa little bit annoying for me I
have glasses so I have to takemy glasses off but when you tap
here it helps process andrelease emotional overwhelm
Super beneficial for those of uswho overthink, right, or we get
a little nervous systemdysregulated, aka a lot.
But you know what I'm saying, all right.
(09:52):
The next tapping point is rightunderneath the eye, so kind of
like on the ridge of where yourcheekbone is, right underneath
your eye, and when you tap hereit addresses fear and lack-based
thinking.
It allows you to acknowledgethem and kind of just let them
go.
Next up is tapping rightunderneath the nose.
So in that space between yourlips and your nose you're
tapping there and it connects tothe nervous system and releases
(10:14):
.
The next one is your chin andthis, when you tap, releases
feelings of guilt and shamewhich obviously a lot of us need
to offload if we've come fromany kind of familial trauma or,
you know, pass down generationalthought forms, right.
So getting rid of all that.
(10:35):
Then there's the collarbone.
Right on the collarbone you'regoing to tap.
You can do both sides if youwant, or you can just tap on one
side.
It really in my experiencedoesn't.
So you tap on your collarbonesand this helps to dissolve your
fight or flight response andshifts you into a place of
safety.
Like you just kind of feel calmwhen you're tapping this point
(10:55):
Next up is right underneath thearm, kind of think or visualize
like a monkey, you know thatsort of thing.
You're like literally tappingright underneath your arm, kind
of where your side is, likewhere your bra strap would be if
you're a woman.
You're going to tap right thereand it clears deep-seated fear
and resistance and lets that allgo.
And then finally you're goingto go to the top of the head,
(11:16):
and this point here integratesnew beliefs and reinforces
positive energy flow.
So what ends up happening isyou start with the karate chop
and you'll run through a coupleof scripts.
Sometimes the way that I liketo do it is I'll do like three
rounds of the karate chop, whatever my setup is, my script
setup is, and then I will runthrough the entire script, and
(11:37):
so when you're starting, you gothrough the whole process once,
from the eyebrow point all theway back to the top of the head,
and then you do it again, butwith your reframed story, if
that makes sense.
So why do we say what we sayduring EFT?
This was the part that reallykind of tripped me up, because I
didn't understand it and Iwanted to understand it, and so
then I felt like I was beinghokey or I don't know.
(12:00):
It was like I just didn'tunderstand it and I needed to.
A lot of manifestation is likethat for us neurodivergence Like
it just feels like wishfulthinking or it feels like why am
I even doing this?
And when you introduce thatkind of energy into your
manifestation, it doesn't work,obviously.
Well, it can work, but it justhas a less potent vibration when
we're questioning whether ornot it's going to work, because
(12:23):
we introduce that energy intoour field, right?
So why do we say what we say?
Well, number one, we firstacknowledge the negative
feelings so that we can bringthem to the surface, you know,
put a little bit of light onthem.
What we're trying to do is notstuff them back down into the
body.
We're not trying to make themnot be there, we're trying to
give them space.
We're trying to give them light.
(12:43):
Make them not be there, we'retrying to give them space.
We're trying to give them light, we're trying to give them a
voice so that we can then shiftfrom a place of true knowing, of
acknowledgement, versus tryingto make those feelings be bad.
I think often we as humans, anddefinitely as neurodivergents,
we kind of vilify our feelings, especially if we are manifestors
(13:04):
or spiritually inclined, anything that is, you know, a
lower vibration.
We tend to feel like, oh crap,I shouldn't be here, I need to
get back up into a highervibration.
But you're a human, you're ahuman having a human experience,
even if you're spiritual, evenif you understand egoic natures,
even if you understandmanifestation.
Sometimes we just have toacknowledge our feelings,
(13:27):
whether that's judgment, whetherthat's judgment of our judgment
, whether it is jealousy orinsecurity or disappointment or
anger or rage or grief, like allof those things.
We have these emotions for areason and they are vital and
important, and most of them onlylast 90 seconds.
Did you know?
(13:47):
If you let a full emotion playout, it's like 90 seconds.
But so often they stick aroundbecause we stuff them down and
we tell ourselves we can't feelthat thing, when in actuality we
need to just release them, liketears.
When you cry, you are literallyreleasing toxins from your body
.
And when you stuff that down, when you cry, you are literally
releasing toxins from your body.
And when you stuff that down, when you don't allow yourself to
cry, oh, all of the traumastays in your body and it
(14:11):
becomes so much harder to livethat joyful, wonderful life.
So with the script why we saywhat we say we first acknowledge
that negative feeling as webring it to the surface, as we
just said then we introduceacceptance and a new way of
thinking.
So it's almost framed in a wayof like okay, even though I feel
like I am not as far along as Ishould be, even though I feel
(14:32):
like I'm not earning as muchmoney as I should be, at this
point I deeply and completelylove and accept myself.
And then you continue talkingabout all the things throughout
the different tapping points.
But as you get to the end, allof a sudden you're going but
what if this isn't true?
What if I'm looking at this ina way that is not helpful to me?
(14:52):
What if, instead of you knownot being enough or not having
enough money or all those things.
What if I'm exactly where I'mmeant to be?
What if everything is workingout in my favor?
What if I'm on my way and Ijust didn't realize it yet?
What if tomorrow, everythingbecomes completely locked in?
So you introduce acceptance andthat new way of thinking, and
(15:15):
this process actually rewiresneural pathways and helps us to
shift from scarcity back intoabundance or from fear into
acceptance, whatever it might bethat you're trying to tap on.
A lot of us have a scarcitymindset that we're trying to
overcome, and so I like to usethat kind of as a frame of
reference, because so many of usunderstand that one.
(15:36):
So EFT for me in my journey,it's really been a crucial part
of my manifestation process.
But I'll be honest, like I said, it took me a while to really
get it.
At first I struggled because Ithought I could just think my
way into manifestation and I'm adouble Virgo, so it's kind of
funny now looking back at itbecause obviously Earth is my
(15:56):
element, the body is of theEarth, and I noticed that my
most potent manifestationstypically come when I add
movement into my manifestationprocess, so like doing a mental
loop while mowing the lawn, forinstance, or painting a room or
something where you're involvingyour body at the same time.
It's super interesting.
(16:17):
But I literally did.
I thought I could think my wayinto it and as I worked with EFT
and other somatic exercises, Irealized that I had stored so
many layers of tension andstress and unresolved emotions
and that they were blocking mymanifestations because I didn't
have the capacity to bring inwhat I wanted.
(16:38):
Like my energetic system wasliterally bombarded and
overloaded to the point wherebringing in anything else didn't
feel safe, and so my nervoussystem was like nope, nope, not
going to happen.
And I'm still working through it.
Right, each round of tappingreleases another layer, helping
me to embody my future self morefully, and it's so fascinating
(17:02):
to encounter each one as itlifts or to feel into, like this
deeper sense of how do I wantto describe it?
This deeper sense of like justpiece in my bones, like it's
super interesting because I usedto like, back in the day, think
about and talk about to myaudience that I am like that
(17:24):
object that is in motion andstays in motion, and you know
how people are always like oh,if you need something done, ask
a busy person.
That was literally me, right, and so I would take on and take
on, and take on all the thingsand do all the things, and I
could handle it all.
I am one of those highfunctioning autistics and so for
me I can do things way quickerthan, in my personal opinion,
most people.
(17:45):
And that didn't mean that Itechnically should have right,
and so I bombarded my nervoussystems to the point where I
couldn't bring in what I wanted, and so it's time to then start
shedding it.
So are trauma, stress andstored emotions the same thing,
maybe?
Either way, they keep us stuckin old stories until we
(18:08):
consciously release them, and sothat's really our job, right,
it's our job to get into somaticexercises, to get into EFT
tapping, to be able to be theembodiment of who we are, and if
we are looking to call in moremoney, for instance, or more
success, we have to get to aplace where our body feels safe
(18:29):
calling that in, and it's.
It's that kind of concept where, if you are so busy that you
can't even take time out to, youknow, chill out, have a day off
or relax.
You're not going to call inyour millionaire, you know
destiny or your incrediblesuccess, especially if you think
(18:50):
that it's going to mean moreworkload or more responsibility
put on top of you.
So if this resonates with you, like I said, I have a free gift
to get you started.
It's called the Abund.
Like I said, I have a free giftto get you started.
It's called the Abundance Reset.
It's a tapping script torelease lack and manifest more.
You can download it now atmanifestdifferentlycom.
Forward slash eight and try ittoday, totally free.
And if you're new to tapping, commit to doing just one round.
(19:14):
See how it feels in your bodyand notice what shifts I go
through and tell you what you'resupposed to be tapping, what
you're supposed to be saying,and it's very user-friendly.
The more you integrate EFTtapping into your practice, the
more you're going to startseeing its power in your
manifestational journey.
You might even see or realizethat you're doing too much, that
(19:35):
you are expelling too muchenergy and there's not enough
space to be able to call in whatyou want right.
And when that happens, that's agreat realization because it
means now you get to shift.
You get to make a choice thatallows you to either expand your
container or to be able toexpand your capacity to relax
(20:00):
and let ease bring it to you.
It allows you to face thoselimiting beliefs just a little
bit and move forward right.
So let's recap EFT is apowerful tool for neurodivergent
manifestors because it helpsyou regulate your nervous system
, release stored tension andintegrate new beliefs, which is
what we're constantly in theprocess of doing when it comes
(20:21):
to manifestation.
Right, but manifestation isn'tjust your thoughts.
It's about bringing your wholesystem online.
You can start using the EFTtapping script today that I
created for you.
