Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey and welcome back
to the Live Life
Unapologetically podcast.
Today we're going to dive intoone of the biggest
misconceptions in manifestationacting as if.
Now, acting as if is one of themost powerful tools you can use
to supercharge yourmanifestations.
The problem is that a lot ofpeople get this wrong.
(00:20):
They think acting as if meansdoing things that rich or
successful people do like wakingup at 5 am, drinking green
smoothies, wearing designerclothes and grinding all day.
The truth is, acting as ifisn't really about what you do.
It's about how you feel.
If you focus on actions, butthose actions don't make you
(00:41):
feel abundant, secure andempowered, then you're not
acting as if, you're justplaying pretend, and that's why
so many people feel frustratedand burnt out and ready to give
up on using acting as if inmanifesting.
So today I'm going to breakdown the biggest myths about
acting as if and, moreimportantly, I'm going to show
(01:02):
you how to start feeling likethe version of yourself who
already has what you want, starting right now.
So I want you to grab yourfavorite drink, cozy up and
we're going to start diving intothis, myth by myth, so that you
can truly act as if andmanifest your desires.
The first myth is that acting asif means spending money you
(01:25):
don't have.
One of the biggest mistakesthat I see women making is
thinking that they have to actas if they are wealthy, so they
need to spend like they arewealthy.
They think they need to buydesigner handbags, book
expensive vacations or dine athigh-end restaurants, even if it
puts them into debt, so thatthey can act as if.
(01:46):
That's why I really don't likethe phrase fake it till you make
it and I prefer acting as if.
I think there's a difference.
You know, fake it till you makeit.
That's keeping up with theJoneses and that can put you in
a worse position than when youstarted and it can make you feel
even more in lack than when youbegan the process.
I want to be really real withyou.
(02:06):
If spending money makes you feelanxious, worried or stressed,
that is not acting as if.
That is acting from lack.
So, instead, to move past thisin the acting as if area so you
can really utilize this tool, Iwant you to understand that
acting as if is about embodyingthe feeling of financial
(02:29):
security, ease and abundance.
So, instead of recklesslyspending, focus on feeling
abundant right now, so whenyou're paying your bills instead
of thinking, ugh, there goesmore money, shift to gratitude I
love that I can pay this.
Money is always replenishingitself.
That's true, right, if you'reconstantly paying your electric
(02:53):
bill.
No matter how we may feel aboutthe fact that we have
reoccurring bills, I'm alwaysable to pay it.
It is replenishing Instead ofsaying I can't afford that, say
that's not my financial priorityright now.
One reinforces lack.
The other is an empowereddecision.
(03:14):
I love the game that AbrahamHicks has.
Of course it's a little bitolder and it talks about 20
bucks in your pocket.
But if you had like $100 inyour pocket and you go
throughout your day and you'relike, oh, I could buy that if I
want to, like you point tothings and say, oh, I could buy
that if I want to because youhave $100 in your pocket, if you
wanted to, you could, insteadof saying, oh, I can't afford
(03:34):
that In your mind, acting as ifis telling and giving an
experience, I could buy that ifI want to.
And so she goes on to say, ifyou do this multiple times a day
of course she used the $20example, but if you did it with
like a $100 bill in your pocket.
I could buy that if I want to.
I could buy that if I want to.
If you did that five times aday, that's you mentally
(03:54):
spending $500 a day because youcould buy it if you want to.
You have the $100 in yourpocket and that's the same as
saying, well, that's not myfinancial priority right now.
Like I could buy it if I wantedto, that's not my priority
right now.
You can also add littleluxuries that make you feel
wealthy without overspending.
So maybe that's you're usingyour best dishes every day.
(04:15):
Maybe it's buying fanciercoffee creamer or making your
space feel beautiful.
The more you feel ease andconfidence with your money, the
more you align with wealth.
The second myth acting as ifmeans following routines that
you think rich people do.
I know you've seen the videos.
(04:36):
I know you've seen stuff outthere where it's like if you
want to be a millionaire, thisis what every millionaire does
every day.
I saw something the other daythat said you're more likely to
be a millionaire if you makeyour bed every day.
What does making your bed everyday have to do with wealth?
Not a damn thing.
It might have something to dowith discipline, but not wealth.
I know plenty of people who arewealthy, who do not make their
bed every day.
(04:56):
But we see videos like this, the ones where someone wakes up
at 5 am, works out, they journal, they read, they meditate, all
before starting their workday.
And then people are like, ohwell, that's what rich people do
, no-transcript.
But I want to ask you a questionWould you actually want to wake
(05:17):
up at 5 am if you're wealthy,or would you sleep in because
you could?
Would you force yourself into arigid morning routine or would
you create a routine that feelsgood to you?
You see, acting as if is notabout checking off boxes from
someone else's routine.
It's about moving through yourday, feeling like the version of
(05:37):
you who already has what youdesire, feeling how you want to
feel.
I don't know about you, butwhen I wanted more time wealth,
because to me, wealth gave metime the more money I had, the
more time I had Waking up at 5am to work out was not something
that was a part of that desire.
(05:58):
At 5 am, to work out was notsomething that was a part of
that desire.
That desire was more like Iquit working at 1 or 2 pm every
single day, and I never work onFriday and I never work on
Saturday and I never work onSunday.
That was wealth, not some crazyroutine of me always having to
do stuff.
So you really need to askyourself when you're acting as
if and you're like, okay, well, rich people do this.
No, not rich people, someperson.
(06:19):
The real question is, if I hadall the money in the world, what
would I be doing?
So instead, if your wealthyself would sleep in and work out
at noon, start structuring yourschedule in a way that feels
aligned.
Now and you may be saying well, shannon, I work Monday through
Friday and I have to be to workat a certain time, but you could
align that on the weekends.
Get it in where you can fit itin to begin with.
(06:40):
If your wealthy self would haveslow mornings, make time for 10
minutes of stillness before youdrive to work, starting small,
piece by piece.
If your wealthy self wouldinvest in personal growth.
Start reading books, listeningto podcasts like this one, to
expand your mindset.
How you feel in your routinesis what matters, not the
(07:01):
routines themselves Finding aroutine that feels good to you
to align with the life that youwant.
Number three is acting as ifmeans hustling harder, and
there's really a toxic beliefthat success only comes from
sacrificing everything yoursleep, your free time, your
relationships.
People think acting as if meanspushing harder, doing more and
(07:22):
hustling non-stop.
Oh, you know, that's what awealthy person would do, honey.
That's not abundance, that isburnout.
In reality, wealthy people arenot doing.
They're doing what they want todo, not what they think they
should do.
They're doing what they want todo Because acting as if means
trusting that success isinevitable.
(07:43):
Wealthy people don't say yes toeverything out of fear that
opportunities are going todisappear.
They move with confidence.
And so when you're thinkingabout manifesting more wealth,
especially if you're starting abusiness and I did an episode on
this last week about how youstart your business and the
energy of your business Stopletting societal programs,
societal norms or status quohave you trying to manifest
(08:06):
something that you don't want.
We don't want to escape the 9to 5 just to create 24-7 work,
moving with confidence.
So stop making decisions fromfear.
Wealthy people do not take onevery project because of
scarcity.
If that was the case watchingShark Tank, every one of them up
there would have offeredsomething to every person that
showed up.
They don't take on everything, thinking, ooh, but this could be
(08:30):
what if no?
They trust that moreopportunities are always coming.
They trust that the next personthat comes in is actually gonna
have an aligned product thatthey wanted to invest in.
I want you to think about that.
On Shark Tank from clips thatI've seen, sometimes the
investors will say well, I thinkyou have an amazing idea, I
think this could really besomething, but it's just not my
(08:51):
area, it's just not my thing.
They didn't say no because theythought it was a bad idea.
They were like this just reallyisn't my thing.
And if you take that and lookat it, that meant that they
trusted that more opportunitieswere coming, that aligned with
them and what they like to do,not making decisions from fear.
Oh my gosh, this is probablygoing to blow up.
(09:11):
It's not really my thing, butI'm going to jump on it anyway.
No, invest in yourself in waysthat feel good.
So maybe you're going to startsetting boundaries at work,
outsourcing tasks or making timefor joy.
On my manifestation journey, thefirst thing I manifested was
time, and that is because Istarted to set boundaries.
Once I started to setboundaries, my time manifested
(09:34):
exponentially, even without metrying Once I had time.
Then I was able to really findclarity in what I wanted,
because I wasn't overwhelmed andburnt out.
And you can also prioritizepleasure and rest.
If wealth would make you feelcalm and at ease, then that's
the energy you need to bringinto your life right now.
Many of us want wealth so thatwe have less stress, because
(09:58):
money alleviates stress.
There's no stress for bills.
There's no stress when you'regoing to the store to get stuff.
I am at a point in my life rightnow where I cannot tell you how
good it feels to go in thegrocery store, put whatever I
want in my cart and check outwithout thinking about it or
looking at price tags.
It is such a better experienceto just go to the grocery store.
(10:19):
Back in the day, I had to go tothree or four different stores
because I knew everything thatmy family needed and I knew
which store had it cheaper and Iwould hit up those stores to
get the cheapest price.
Like it was a whole thing.
It was truly an entire Saturday, just because money, it was a
(10:39):
money issue.
I don't have that issue now andit feels so damn good to me.
So when we're talking aboutacting as if and we think it
means hustling harder.
It doesn't.
That's burnout, that's extrastuff.
So if you can prioritize somesort of pleasure or rest now,
that's going to make you feelcalm and at ease.
It's going to start bringingthat energy into your life.
I always say it.
(10:59):
I started with seven minutes ofmeditation a day.
That's the only time I had mytime was so packed full.
I had seven little minutes aday and I used it for meditation
and that brought calm into mylife, which eventually brought
ease into my life and then timeinto my life.
It was like this whole thing.
I didn't hustle harder.
Who wants to be wealthy just todo more?
Most people I know who want tobe wealthy want to do it so that
(11:23):
they can delegate and enjoylife more, not working more.
So those were the three biggestmyths Spending money you don't
have so that you can act as ifyou have money just puts you in
debt.
Acting as if by followingroutines that we think rich
people do, that are rigid andthat we don't really want to do,
whether we're wealthy or not,or thinking that acting as if
means hustling harder, like I'mgoing to be out here on my grind
(11:44):
24, 7, and then you get burntout and it doesn't really matter
.
All the progress you made goesaway because you're so burnt out
, you just crash.
So let's talk about the truthof acting as if it's really all
feeling.
If you take anything fromtoday's episode, I want it to be
this Acting as if is not aboutmimicking someone else's life.
(12:05):
It's really about embodying theemotions of the life you want,
because wealth isn't just aboutmoney.
It's about feeling secure, atease and empowered.
Acting as if means askingyourself how would you feel if
you were already wealthy?
How would you move through yourday?
How would you make decisionsfor your life?
(12:28):
And then bring those feelingsinto your life today?
So here's some examples whenyou pay your bills, once again,
instead of feeling stress, practice, gratitude and trust
that the money is alwaysreplenishing itself when making
a decision, ask yourself would Imake this choice if I was
already successful?
Would I make this choice if themoney and desires I have were
(12:49):
manifest to me right now?
How I like to ask myself is ifand I have tons of lottery
tickets just around and I wouldhold a lottery ticket and say
this is the winning ticket soknowing I have this winning
ticket in my hand.
Would I do this?
When you wake up in the morning, instead of rushing into stress
, take a moment to feel into thelife you're creating.
(13:10):
The more you feel like theversion of you who already has
what you want, the faster yourmanifestations will unfold.
It's the feeling.
So you can start acting as iftoday, no matter your financial
situation.
Are you ready to embody thisabundance right now?
Here are some simple shiftsPractice confident
(13:31):
decision-making because, wealthy, you wouldn't overthink or
second-guess every move.
Start trusting yourself now.
Speak and think like someonewho already has abundance.
So you're dropping phrases likeI can't afford it and you're
just saying that's not mypriority right now.
Create an environment thatfeels abundant, so that could
(13:51):
mean decluttering, adding freshflowers to your space or just
choosing to feel good whereveryou are.
Move through your day withenergy of success, walking into
the rooms that you walk intolike you belong there, because
you do Show up in your business, like you already have clients,
because you do.
Stop waiting to feel abundant.
(14:14):
If wealth could make you feelcalm, empowered and supported,
then those are the feelings thatyou need to be cultivating
today.
I want you to remember thatacting as if is not about
spending recklessly, forcingyourself into routines you hate
or grinding yourself into theground, acting as if is about
feeling like the version of youwho already has what you desire
(14:36):
right now.
The more you embody the energyof wealth, the faster you align
with it.
So my challenge for you is topick one way to feel more
abundant, whether it's shiftingyour mindset around money,
making an empowered decision orjust taking a moment to breathe
in gratitude and start feelingyour wealth right now.
(14:56):
