trying to I'm trying to liven up
the audience here. Oh, okay.
Murph (00:21):
Well, maybe you can live
it up with like a really
boisterous introduction like, Ednow it's maple glaze
Unknown (00:29):
coming up Bedros Mo,
glaze,
Murph (00:33):
like the start of a porno
when you say like, Oh,
seriously? I'm half Canadian.
He's all American. To diagnosewhat's going good there. I
totally lost my train ofthought.
Zac Saleski (00:48):
The only time I'm
ever going to get all American
and there we go. So here we go.
Welcome to a third episode ofmaple glaze out. I am Zack. Yes,
that's Murph.
Murph (01:02):

Zac Saleski (01:12):
Let's go. As we are
doing this podcast we actually
have the Chiefs game on on theside because I got really
disgusted and I walk away fromthat team for a couple minutes
because I can't watch them
Murph (01:23):
believe that's the number
one rule of podcasting is do it
when you're angry. And there'ssomething else that you want to
be doing.
Unknown (01:31):
I rather be doing
anything else to watch this.
Right? I'm
Murph (01:34):
done. Yeah. First New
Castle. Now the Chiefs just just
oh, oh, by me the chiefs werewinning, but it's pretty much Oh
into davers
Zac Saleski (01:41):
at least at least
Newcastle expected. The Chiefs
are like alright, this is yeah,
Murph (01:45):
it's killing my fantasy
football right now.
Zac Saleski (01:48):
Oh, I am happy you
guys decide to tune in. That's
right. There's major lifedecisions you guys decide do
anything else but to listen tous quicker. And yo, that
someone's yelling more just now
Murph (02:00):
we don't yell or prayer
words are very what's the word?
It's a very progressive mentaldegradation. very progressive
discussion. You knowprogressives ever go there?
Yeah, exactly. Like you make funof me I die internally I say
some comments people laugh andwe move on that's
Zac Saleski (02:18):
you you hold it on
and then by like 1015 minutes
later then you come back
Murph (02:22):
exactly. Yeah, well
that's how that's how it all
works. That's yeah, it's how theworld wars are starting to
Zac Saleski (02:26):
hang on to
something he's not paying
attention. Exactly.
Murph (02:29):
Yeah. Just hang on to it
barely until your deathbed and
then you know that's when youproclaim all your anger and how
your all the friendships you'vebroken because of it gets really
fast they talked about manCanadian bridges man just let it
you know just let them fall out.
Zac Saleski (02:45):
Blow it up a
Murph (02:47):
winner we'll blow it up
just to get you to start taking
care of it just let you know
Unknown (02:52):
it just so you know who
said that was that was somebody
but that was me. Was it you?
Yeah,
Zac Saleski (02:59):
I thought I saw
that on TV or something that'll
make you give Murph the creditYeah,
Murph (03:05):
all we could probably
research it but we're not going
to we're just I'm just gonnatake clip I mean yes, we do have
the capacity but we want it'slike the American impartially
Canadian way we just take it forourselves and say we did it and
probably was made in Europe, butyou know,
Unknown (03:18):
it's always something
to do here. It's always
something to do.
Zac Saleski (03:21):
But uh yeah, thank
you guys for joining us. If you
guys have not yet make sure youguys you know follow the podcast
give it a review you know, letthis this podcast get some legs
if you will, and hopefully rightall the other angry America we
try
Murph (03:37):
not to skip legged in
this podcast, but sometimes it
happens it happens. Our size
Zac Saleski (03:41):
gets sore and we
can't do it.
Murph (03:42):
Just go for show for show
live for show not for for show.
No not for overall health. Theworld's going without again.
Rocco hotstart Alright,
Zac Saleski (03:55):
let's go let's go
they're
Murph (03:57):
not a real did I just
reel them in? Here we are there
in your real mini realize Ididn't put any bait here.
Exactly Damn. Do not know whythe third time around. You still
have not given me a script. I'mjust so random going nowhere who
needs this?
Zac Saleski (04:10):
We just I mean, you
know, I try to have like one or
two subjects like hey, we'regonna hit this. Yep. And that's
that's it?
Murph (04:18):
Do we actually ever hit
them? I don't even think you
really tell me what subjectswe're gonna hit. You don't like
there's some questions somepeople have asked we want to
talk about and that's reallyabout it. We just go off. What
Surpriser go like all right. Allright. Well, they're rare. Yeah,
okay. Well, they are weird.
We're gonna get on that subject.
Unknown (04:38):
Does that work? Yeah,
perfect. No, you goofy idiot.
Zac Saleski (04:43):
But no, actually, I
want to start off with a couple
of questions. We want to startgoing try to be better with
this. But we do have a couplequestions. We kind of get every
single podcast
Murph (04:58):
it's a feet thing. I'm
going to flip out
Zac Saleski (05:00):
Murphy. Murphy
loves feet.
Murph (05:02):
I do not send
Unknown (05:03):
your feet pic.
Murph (05:06):
Please do not send those
into me. I don't want to see
them.
Zac Saleski (05:09):
Oh, the one college
just stuck like sticks with us.
They haven't. Yeah, I was inGermany. Yeah. Oh man. All
right, Mojo. I know I've beenkind of slow it
Murph (05:20):
might be our number one
fan. He is or she I don't know.
I don't know. He.
Zac Saleski (05:25):
He's a he's a he's
a man made of done.
Unknown (05:28):
Oh, is he? He is
Murph (05:31):
don't get wet that just
sort of shake my shrink a
Unknown (05:36):
little magic Kurt
Russell. Wow. All right.
Zac Saleski (05:40):
Oh, man. Uh, oh.
This actually I guess for me,okay. For future podcast, Lord.
Give me a break. Why don't youJesus? His brain hurts badly for
future podcasts. I reallyappreciate your honest about
valuation the strengthsweaknesses of the Swedish all
unicorns defense, the 2021 seat.
(06:00):
Oh my God, would you please giveus your views and how you feel
they can improve?
Murph (06:05):
There you go, buddy.
Zac Saleski (06:06):
Wow. Yeah, that's
like all that's basically all my
fan base now. Like,
Murph (06:10):
I feel like I could
probably just sit on this
podcast, you just do the wholething? Because I feel like
you're going to take a wholehour just to talk about that.
Oh, no. I'll tell you afterwatching Kansas City and your
castle.
Zac Saleski (06:21):
My God. Listen, I
was doing a AppScan pay to do
some videos for a localbusiness. And then I get back
and I see that crap. I'm dun.
Dun. So Mojo. I actually I got acouple things because I did
watch switch a little bit. Ishould watch the good chunk of
the championship game too. Andnot surprised they lost and I
(06:43):
will be honest. Why? First andforemost. It's not you being
honest. No, no. That's all Iknow. My gosh.
Murph (06:52):
Are you done?
Zac Saleski (06:55):
You've changed man.
Yeah. You're going
Unknown (06:59):
it's a third of the
money's changed you what money?
Exactly?
Zac Saleski (07:04):
We're sponsored by
Tim Hortons. Just drinking
seltzer.
Murph (07:07):
I'm working on that but
basically water it is
Zac Saleski (07:11):
give a man some
Rome
Murph (07:13):
some some room. Oh, like
Rome. We go to we're going to
Italy now. Go to Rome.
Zac Saleski (07:20):
I say give me a
router.
Murph (07:21):
Oh, around Gotcha. Yar
Zac Saleski (07:24):
yar give me some
rum. Oh gosh. It's like back the
first episode All right. Yeah.
Murph (07:29):
My Yars that's enough
puns all right. No, we're not
done with those but continue on.
Zac Saleski (07:36):
Oh, pun damn we
just broke it was crack a little
bit squeamish all this is good.
This might kind of give you guysa little bit of a I guess a
reality check and and sorts soas you guys know, you know,
don't take it serious. Don't runthe Nick. Like Zack said this.
(07:59):
And he's like you like
Murph (08:04):
but um, he doesn't but
this is a completely different
Zac Saleski (08:07):
Oh, yeah.
Completely different. Exactly.
Murph (08:10):
Yeah, no, it's not cuz he
doesn't like you. I just didn't
like it.
Zac Saleski (08:13):
I just hated fakes.
God, I hate it. So I wouldactually say swaybars Hall as a
whole is ran very, very well.
It's a great organization greatteam, despite not being in the
league, they still can holdtheir own in a GFL League, which
I think is going to be kind ofhammered for the last actually
(08:35):
gonna it's going to be on adownturn for the next couple of
years. I think because of elf.
Especially with the additions ofmovie that the league league Oh,
keep up all right. I'm tryingthe other great coffee
Murph (08:48):
does that like their NFL?
I don't know what it was.
Zac Saleski (08:51):
It's the new NFL
Europe. Okay. So basically what
they're now they they just theyannounced this week, they added
another team it's gonna be anIST event. Istanbul Turkey.
Okay, which I kind of figuredbecause they the elf
championship, they invited ValGunn? Who was the he's been the
head coach overseas forever.
Gotcha. So I'm kind of notsurprised there. But should we
(09:11):
wish all for as a whole they're,they're a good team. Well
coached by coach Newman, butI'll be honest defensively. And
he's just me. I don't think theycan handle me. Yes, sir. They
will send me home after a couplegames like you're you're too
honest. Okay, guys don't likeyou even though the guys do like
me. And then the be like theboard be like, well, we just
(09:34):
don't like you. It's fair toyour just to understanding.
Murph (09:40):
I don't even know. I
don't even know if I like you
sometimes.
Zac Saleski (09:43):
Good. Yeah. Okay.
Murph (09:45):
What's our separate
podcast? Separate? Very special,
but it's a separate Americajoke.
Zac Saleski (09:54):
It's like, oh,
you're doing a podcast. So we'll
be back here. Yeah. And the backend of the room in this podcast.
So it's Vegas Hall. I think theone thing I did not like that
they were starting to do, theywere running more of a three man
front. And they basically weretelling Dresden Hey, come, come,
you know, hit us, let's run theball. We dare you, or, you know,
try to try the deep ball. Theyhonestly, it's some of the stuff
(10:17):
I saw, they were not maintainingtheir gaps properly. They were
not holding their own. It just, they're, essentially if you're
running three minutes frontagainst a team that likes to run
it, or it's they're more prostyle, they're you're going to
have issues all day long. Sothat's kind of the issue that
we're having. Now. Nick Alfieriis a very good leader. He has
(10:39):
Don't Don't yell at me. He haslost a bit of a step. If if you
had a watch how
Murph (10:45):
dare you he is number one
in my fantasy How dare you do
that? My overseas house yeah, myL fantasy league?
Zac Saleski (10:53):
I would not be
surprised if they tried to do
that crap. Yeah. Oh, God. Oh,yeah, we have row saw pain.
Murph (11:01):
Oh, yeah. Geez. What is
this Jim Rome is burning all of
a sudden now you're just gonnago like
Zac Saleski (11:07):
I'm gonna tell you
like it is because you know,
Nick is still like he's a verysmart intuitive searches beer.
Murph (11:13):
I'm just so shocked by
that statement right there.
Drink this
Zac Saleski (11:16):
water. Nick,
honestly, he's a very intuitive,
smart linebacker. Physically, you could tell he's probably
lost a step a little bit. Butthe thing you can easily combat
that though overseas, basically, just get yourself a big old nose
tackle. Alright, you can do runsome slants run a base for
three. And then have that nosetackle, eat up some blocks in
(11:39):
the middle, let Nick kind of youknow, get all the communications
and all the adjustments, andyou'll be fine. That's basically
all you need to do. The thing Isaw during the championship game
was like they were sitting backa little too much, allowing a
lot of the intermediate routesto happen. And basically, the
dressing monarchs were kind oftrying to hit these long, long
(12:01):
deep routes so they could try toforce waivers hold back and then
they've just go back to therunning game. All you got to do
all right, keep 2d safeties Allright, and then you just you
kind of make sure your frontseven just to whatever front the
offense is basically trying toachieve and you're basically
each combat that that's all youneed. Keep everything in front
(12:23):
of you. Alright, allow the lawthe short routes protect
yourself against a deep rouseintermediate your fun. Now they
have a lot of guys Americanswere older, which you'll have to
adapt to. I know Cody PastorinoI think he from what I heard he
might be done this year, we'llsee. But uh, well, I think it'll
(12:44):
be fine. They recruited a couplethe guys that I coached that
pattern so that should tell
Murph (12:50):
you everything. And yet
you still hate them. So weird. I
don't I don't hate just lostsubscribers now waiting
probably. I don't know. Should Ikiss their ass? So what I do, I
can't
Zac Saleski (13:01):
verify I won't
sleep all night.
Murph (13:02):
Well, I guess all we can
say is shaping 12 I say that
right? slavish Hall? slavishHall, right? So I wish all my
dorm room and gave you a dormroom in college. balls in your
court that gave you all the infoyou need. Now, here you go balls
in your court.
Zac Saleski (13:18):
I guarantee you a
lot of guys, blackhole. That's
wrong. You know what, fine.
We're doing it long enough.
Murph (13:23):
At all. We didn't start
podcasting to make friends. No,
you know, that's what we do.
Zac Saleski (13:27):
Not a friendly
podcast. It
Murph (13:28):
is not this
Zac Saleski (13:29):
is America. Verse
Canada. Exactly. against Europe.
They're all in the same.
conglomeration.
Murph (13:34):
Exactly. You know, you
subscribe to this. Just
remember. Still waiting for whatyou want it still wait
Zac Saleski (13:40):
for a demographic
cannot be like, hey, but know
that.
Murph (13:45):
They'll do podcasts that
there's different. They do. Just
yelling. Yeah, buildings.
Zac Saleski (13:51):
Yeah. Yelling at
the signs.
Murph (13:53):
Like this. Yeah, it's a
lot, a lot of old school ways,
like old school stuff.
Zac Saleski (13:58):
This podcast now is
sold in Canada
Murph (14:01):
smoke signals, you know,
just Morse code. All that stuff?
Zac Saleski (14:07):
Yeah, I should just
let you go for 10 minutes just
to name off that stuff. Like
Murph (14:10):
game off all that stuff.
Morse code Morse code. Yeah.
carrier pigeon. Yep. Hmm.
That's, that's tough. That'sdefinitely we have carrier
moose. Ooh, no, they're a littletough to tame. Oh, it's true.
It's true. Now that's not Imean, yeah.
Zac Saleski (14:25):
Or maybe a Mountie
just carries it over the border
says How you doing and then goesback. How you doing with a
jersey or
Unknown (14:30):
something? Northern
border. New York to say why. Go
back.
Murph (14:40):
I was terrible.
Zac Saleski (14:42):
Oh, sorry. I was a
Soprano's kick lately.
Unknown (14:46):
Okay. Cool. Well, there
Murph (14:49):
you go. Yeah. Answer that
question.
Zac Saleski (14:52):
long winded.
Murph (14:53):
Yeah. What asked him a
tough question. Like you had
that one queued up.
Zac Saleski (14:57):
No, I didn't. I
didn't have 15 minutes.
Murph (14:59):
I know talk forever.
Unknown (15:01):
I never forget you do.
Zac Saleski (15:05):
Talk to the watch.
Oh man, this Murph know aboutMojo, or does he know about the
Mojo? I think he knows aboutyour mojo. That's that's your
second part question. There wego.
Murph (15:17):
There's multiple Mojo's.
Zac Saleski (15:20):
Odessa, Permian
Friday lights. Ah, Mojo magic,
how about him? But I also Mojodid not like the soccer stuff
that we talked about.
Murph (15:31):
Why not?
Zac Saleski (15:34):
People don't like
soccer is
Murph (15:35):
like Yes.
Zac Saleski (15:37):
And oh, yeah, lupus
haven't seen you in a minute.
No, Murph, you're you're wrong.
Canadian Thanksgiving having nohistorical roots. The first
Thanksgiving Cana actuallypredates ours by some 40 years.
Murph (15:49):
Okay. Congrats. I mean,
yeah, you could go you could
Google it and figure that crapout. But literally, I every kid
at I talked to could not tell mewhy they do it. They literally
just do it. That's just howcandidal told me to. Just how
Canada does. Yeah, I don'treally know. Like,
Zac Saleski (16:10):
seriously? Well,
that's, that's new. Okay.
Murph (16:13):
Yeah. Cool. I like it.
Thank you. Appreciate it. Oh,man, you gotta remember that
now. It's sad when I know morestuff about Canadian history
than my parents do. That grew upthere with the school there. But
Zac Saleski (16:22):
he's weird, right?
He roughly half cares. Yeah. Theother half like, Alright, do
what we want.
Murph (16:30):
Other half's isn't just
America's Top Hat. Everyone
calls it? America's Top Hat.
Zac Saleski (16:36):
Man. Thought
Minnesota was a top pack is not.
So it's part
Murph (16:40):
of America. So firstly,
the top hat.
Unknown (16:43):
America. There we go.
Oh,
Murph (16:46):
man, that was stupid.
What do you salute at
Zac Saleski (16:50):
the Chiefs winning?
Gotcha. Right now. That's whatwe're saluting. That's what
we're up by. 11 All right. Soactually, I went to to show you
guys how much I kind of misscoaching football right now. I
ended up going to a local highschool game.
Murph (17:06):
Oh, don't even on Friday.
You're about to tell this ThomasWorthington story. Yes. So to be
honest, I'm just helping tohelping you through street cred
with your podcast listeners.
Zac Saleski (17:14):
No street cred. All
street cred. Alright, continue.
Murph (17:17):
Oh, thank you. Yeah.
Zac Saleski (17:19):
Now, so before I
went overseas, I actually I
coached about two years of highschool football here in the
state of Ohio. If you guys don'tknow like Ohio football as his
high school football, probably.
It's it is it's probablyconsidered the best in the
nation. I'd say. Really? TheFlorida floor talent level. Ah,
yeah. There. Okay. Yes. It's amixture. Like there's just so
(17:41):
much coaching talent. Yeah, inthis state. And I mean, it just
got the Football Hall of Fame.
So yeah, it's, it's just wild tosee like, if you guys look at
like NFL, how many likeassistant coaches or head
coaches came from Ohio? It'sjust, it's staggering. It's
crazy every single year. So andI'm going the game I just
realized it's like, how much Iguess simplified, I guess could
(18:05):
say, majors, Columbus, I don'tknow. How much simplified like
the game is here as opposed ifyou go overseas, like, it's just
overseas reminds me so much ofCincinnati football because it's
like you have the game planagainst multiple different looks
and fronts. You know, like whatthe hell? It just, it made me
realize like, Man, I missedthis. It's great.
Murph (18:25):
Well, you didn't coach
high school football in Europe.
So I don't think you can compareyou coach pro football in
Europe. So that's different.
Zac Saleski (18:31):
I mean, some of
these guys, it's kind of been
compared to depending on whatlevel you're at. You can kind of
compare it to I guess, I don'tknow. Low. Low college football.
Nei maybe. Maybe. Mac Yeah.
Okay. That's fair. Yeah, depending on what country now if
it's GFL like German League,it's CIF a one or two probably,
I would say Division TwoWonderboy. Just because the
(18:53):
talents good okay. All right.
Then elf is like you know, CFOand say, okay, but there you go.
There you go. Canadianreferencing that bull got that
connection
Murph (19:05):
there? Yeah, perfect.
Well, now we're done that's it.
We just need to make thatconnection somewhere. Big tech.
I am forever done this podcastnow.
Zac Saleski (19:11):
could look okay,
it's all around you. Here we go.
Exactly.
Murph (19:16):
Just do it quietly and
sneakily. So you don't realize
it next thing you know you wakeup one morning like holy crap,
there's a lot of Canadianinfluence around me right now
remember the Canadian
Zac Saleski (19:23):
bridge analogy? We
don't just you know, let it
Murph (19:28):
let it rot let it rot let
just let go nature ticket course
to one day just falls on.
Unknown (19:32):
That's exactly how it
works. Oh, and Oh, yeah. Oh,
God.
Murph (19:39):
Condemned Bridger
building. Just let it go. We'll
take it back.
Zac Saleski (19:43):
If you want to tell
them how you got drunk at a
apple. Apple orchard.
Murph (19:49):
I didn't get drunk but
yeah, I feel pretty good. Yeah,
yeah. I mean, obviously it's
Zac Saleski (19:54):
gonna be a
wonderful day and you decided to
crush all these apples right?
Your armpits and now
Murph (19:59):
what the heck Are you
talking about i gotta pay extra
for that? No. Yeah, I don'treally know how else to explain
it just small town outside ofDayton, which is I would get it
wrong. Southeast Ohio southwestwasn't Dean. But wasn't Dean
Southside Dayton? Yeah, our halfdrive.
Zac Saleski (20:16):
hour and a half. So
it's probably the west side.
Yeah.
Murph (20:19):
So yeah, so it was really
cool. apple orchard the weird
part was the you don't pick theapples off the tree. They are
like already picked off. Theyjust put them in like, it's the
millennial right here. Yeah, exactly. They just put them in
like a I don't know, like a bigbasket and then you just be
like, here's the type of appleswe have. And you just picked as
many as you want. Like a grocerystore pretty much. Wow. Yeah.
And then of course the lines wasstupid long but they had these
(20:40):
are all this awesome. Like, false stuff. Apple cider, all
this stuff. I'm a huge bourbonfan. So I know is that kind of
is that we don't drink a lot ofbourbon. But yeah, I'm a huge
bourbon fan liquors are kind ofbeen
Zac Saleski (20:53):
staying away from
it's fair.
Murph (20:54):
They're not healthy for
you, but I love them. Yeah,
anyway. But so Woodford is oneof the best bourbons really
good. And so you could get aapple cider slushy, which was
awesome. But then they'll put alittle bit of Woodford in it. So
it was amazing. And then theyhad a Woodford root beer float
(21:17):
or they put in Woodford and thenthey put in like some sort of
like, it was like alcoholic rootbeer and then a like a vanilla
ice cream shops or something.
And so literally we drank it. Itwas like a root beer flow with a
little bit of bourbon at the endof it. Do whatever amazing. But
yeah, so currently does like noproblem. It was like the first
it's like the first day of realfall here now like as you can
(21:38):
see wearing my hoodie it's 60degrees out 50 degrees out
problem is here in Ohio getsreally windy. Which sucks. Yeah,
cuz you're like it's so we weresitting out having fun, but it
was like really windy and kindof cloudy. So the sun was like
helping you stay warm, and thenall the wind and then you're
drinking so it was just
Zac Saleski (21:55):
I was gonna go a
long while to like this weather.
It's like every time was waschanging. Yeah, I was like, I
can't. That's Ohio.
Murph (22:01):
Now we're lonely. Like
we'll have a nice sunny day like
today, but it'll be windy. Andthe next day. No, it rains the
next week. Yeah, it's just it'sstupid. It's unfortunate. We
don't get to enjoy the nice falldays like today very much. And
then it's all gone.
Zac Saleski (22:12):
It's like, it's
like, low 60s and it's no, you
have the sun out a little bit.
So it's a little bit warmer thanit is. So it's kind of that
mixture. Right. Nice, but youjust don't get that whole lot
right at all.
Murph (22:26):
But what was really cool
was there's a town we drove
through it on the way there,Wilmington or something like
that. The first or second
Zac Saleski (22:35):
close to Oxford or
you Yeah, apparently didn't know
that. Yeah, yeah. Well, we tendit's like maybe half hour away
from Oxford.
Murph (22:41):
Yeah. So we were there.
We were a week late. They had asauerkraut festival. And I was
like, damn, we're gonna have togo try that out. So what Yeah,
was like October 9, or somethinglike October 9, something on
sale day. Um, so I don't know.
It's like, so I'm going to seethis count really big in Germany
or we just think it's big. InGermany.
Zac Saleski (22:58):
A knot is as big as
you think. Okay, that's why I
thought at least now, it mightbe different in southern
Germany, or Eastern Germany, butlike where I was at, like I
said, is more Americanized. Soit's like people are like, they
want more American Germanizedthings. Yeah. So it's kind of a
mix. But that's I
Murph (23:19):
think, Canada. They're
big on barbecue like it's
Canada. What do you guys don'thave warm enough weather for
barbecue? They love barbecue upthere. So yeah, it's it's weird.
Zac Saleski (23:27):
And but I mean,
I've had like fresh sauerkraut
before.
Murph (23:30):
And I know it's really
healthy. It's good. Like,
Zac Saleski (23:34):
basically they call
it something else. But it's
actually it's really good.
Murph (23:36):
Yeah. Yeah. So anyway,
they had the Starcraft festival.
I was like, Oh, he was like, Ihave to check that out next
year. I think they only do itone weekend. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (23:43):
I never saw on like
on any list, right? Cuz I always
I'm always looking up likedifferent, like festivals go to
or different things. And I'mlike, damn,
Murph (23:50):
honestly, it was a really
small town. That's why I
realized like, as much asawkward sucks sometimes, like,
when I was waiting in line tobuy my mom and sister like we
want fresh apples are great. Soyeah, so I bought a bunch of
apples. And so I was waiting inline. And there's like an older
gentleman behind me. And we juststarted talking and like,
honestly, we talked about a tonof times like that kind of those
(24:11):
kind of discussions don't happenanymore today. But it's crazy.
Like you realize when you talkwith people how much more you
find out than what you do on theinternet. Like he was only all
about this aircraft thing. I waslike, Oh crap. And so then when
we drove out a ton, I was like,I know he was bullshitting me
like it was legit like you couldtell they had just like one
poster. Like it wasn't reallylike anything huge. You could
just tell it's something thetown people just do. And they've
(24:31):
kind of brought in the I thinkit's it was 51 years. Oh, I'm
not 100% sure on that. Yeah,it's just like something
something they do and it's justkind of like yeah, we do this
they you know, they don'tprobably don't want too many
outsiders or though the funnyyeah, the funny in kind of
geekiest part we saw we weredriving out was there's a lot of
people leaving that town alsohad a renaissance event. Fair
(24:54):
thing that happens every day.
Yeah, so like I've ever seen.
Yeah, I don't know what it isabout. I don't know if it's big
everywhere in the world but Ifeel like it's mostly here in
the US where it's likeRenaissance stuff is huge for
some reason people get reallygeek out about it like and it's
like they don't realize howhorrible the time period it was
but like yeah it's like reallyreally weird like you know, like
(25:16):
it's they just want the turkeylegs I guess that's turkey legs
and the cleavage just that's
Zac Saleski (25:22):
yeah, of course
it's just show me some leg lady
the corset
Unknown (25:29):
like wow, I don't even
know that you
Zac Saleski (25:31):
won't give your
kids the turkey leg
Thanksgiving. This is what wehave to have. This is what
happens
Murph (25:37):
exactly. Like want Ron's
wants to get the turkey leg
wrapped in bacon. They call it aRon Swanson.
Zac Saleski (25:48):
Wow. Like Jake was
like, wow, right. Oh, yeah. You
can you can learn so much fromParks and Rec.
Murph (25:57):
Right? They go. Great
show.
Zac Saleski (26:00):
You know what? I
looked up the lakes before. You
know, before the podcast. I'mlike, I can't believe it. It's
like, what was it since westarted the podcast? It's like
almost 30 people. 30 listenersfrom Germany. Oh, what's
interesting are Europe, notGermany? Europe in general.
Yeah. And then, I think maybe, Idon't know, probably seven
(26:22):
people from the US. But I thinkprobably four of those were
probably me. Because I was justlike, I just wanna make sure
that quality was good. That'sreally and then a couple from
Australia, which I know the oneperson from Australia so it's
okay.
Unknown (26:36):
So we're alright, good.
Zac Saleski (26:37):
So we're doing
okay, also, but it's gaining so
yeah, slow, slow and steady, right? wins some races not all
of them right? Yes, exactly. Doyou guys want to help out the
podcast we also have the Patreonshares in link in the
description it's there help itout a little bit more if we're
still a few bucks short of Mercychair fund so make sure we help
(27:03):
each other out and that he hasbad sciatica so we got to make
sure we get them over the linehelp them out. So it's gonna
Murph (27:10):
be a horrible question.
I've no idea what that is. Lowerback. Ah, perfect. Yes,
Zac Saleski (27:16):
he's like yes, I'm
hurting
Murph (27:18):
Sure I'll agree to it
whatever. Over myself I was
fine.
Unknown (27:23):
I smell sciatica
Murph (27:25):
National Spelling Bee
Gees
Unknown (27:27):
see sex? Dammit,
Murph (27:31):
there's a pee in there. I
don't know.
Zac Saleski (27:33):
And some you know
other stuff. She's semi colon
Murph (27:37):
I heard was Attica. I
didn't hear anything else.
That's all I heard.
Zac Saleski (27:41):
So Africa is
Attica. Here we go.
Murph (27:44):
I have said you know
what, we're gonna go crazy off
topic here. But I feel likewe're slowing down so we got
speed back up again. I don'tthink we've talked about this.
I've been getting huge now intothe scary movies and all that
stuff. What is your favoritescary movie?
Zac Saleski (27:56):
Oh, wow. Look at
Murph taking initiative. I
Murph (27:59):
don't try it. I'm trying
to help. Nah, I don't do much
here.
Zac Saleski (28:03):
That's not true.
It's true. You provide comedicentertainment. And good on top
of maple syrup.
Murph (28:09):
Perfect. I do a lot of
that. After the podcast, we just
go ham on the maple syrup.
Zac Saleski (28:14):
Canadian bacon at
that too. No. I've never. Like
for years. I never really caredfor horror movies. Okay, that
was like, I was like a weird kidthat didn't believe that.
Halloween should be likeconnected to like, Oh, sure.
Glory. Okay, cuz I was like,it's it just ruins the holiday
(28:35):
cuz I I mean, if you grew up inlike a smaller town, like you
have a different viewpoint.
Well, Halloween should be orlike, you know, the Halloween
season so, but it was like thelast couple of years to kind of
start getting into it. I reallydidn't like Nightmare on Elm
Street to scare the crap out ofme as a kid, as well.
Murph (28:54):
I've never watched Chucky
that's creepy too. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (28:56):
Chucky was always
weird. I always I was early fan
of Jason. Some of the Freddy vs.
Jason was always really good.
Gotcha. And then I think lateron got into Halloween. Okay,
movie nights really good. Yeah.
Okay, but I've always been a fanof of at least in the 90s I'm
not sure if you guys rememberthis these some Americans but
they used to have they wouldchange their whole schedule over
(29:19):
all their like all their showswould all be like Halloween
related.
Murph (29:25):
I missed that during I
really do miss that they like
don't do that anymore. I do missthat. Halloween themed of
October. I feel like October nowis just like, normal. And then
like the week of Halloween iswhen the Halloween stuff comes
out. And then that's it.
Zac Saleski (29:38):
Yeah, it is weird
because it's like it would
always be either late Septemberor like the first week of
October then it's like bam, justHalloween related episodes. And
it was cool because they wouldtake time off of like their
original storyline. Like youknow what, let's have something
spooky crazy. Let's just dothis. Like Oh, sweet. Yeah,
Murph (29:57):
awesome. Yeah. I think a
prime example of that would be
like community They're reallygood they're really good about
that like yeah, every holidayseason it would just say like
basically like blip in thestoryline to do something that
was holiday themed yeah and theydid really well actually it
actually blended in pretty goodso that was cool Yeah,
Zac Saleski (30:13):
I miss that. Yeah
style of format Yep. Sorry get
off topic but
Murph (30:18):
no real kind of kind of
not really, you know, kind of
kind of went in there somewhereyou know already you love it so
much spooky season. We're tryingto fit it all in before it goes
away. You only got a few moreweeks left. So we're like
halfway through it already. I so
Zac Saleski (30:30):
I get I get so so
much anxiety during this month
because I'm like, I got to do somuch stuff because I have to get
like this the only time of theyear most of the year. I'm like
I'm chilled but this year, likethis month, like I got it do all
these things. But don't get thisthing done. Because I won't have
a good Halloween and then therest of the year is screwed.
Cheese. That's my mindset.
Murph (30:49):
Yeah, but my friends
Rania
Unknown (30:51):
literally what's your
what's your favorite Halloween
movie? Good, sir.
Murph (30:54):
All right. Good question.
Man just came out out ofnowhere. Yeah. Wow. I thought
about that one. Yeah, I thinkI'm probably I pumpkin Hinako
right actually, that's prettygood one I can't go down the
same line as you because I don'tknow all he was always a weird
one. For me. I was always reallybusy in October. But now that
I've gotten older and I have alittle more free time, I start
(31:15):
watching like all the movies andgetting getting into them. Yeah.
The Halloween movies alwaysgood. I always feel like that's
a classic. Like horror movie, but not horror movie. Psycho
killer kind of thing. True. I'vealways loved Stephen King for
some reason. I've like gottenlike, I watched his the movie.
Yeah, I watched the movies. Theymay like they made a ton of
(31:36):
them. And like the 80s and 90s.
And I always just enjoyed them.
They're just very I love I lovea good storyline. That's really
what I like. So that's what I'mstarting to love about Halloween
and horror movies is actuallylike, the storyline and the
history they incorporate intothings is like a lot better than
normal movies. Oh, now I hatethe I hate the jumpscare stupid
like, you know, whatever. Butthe storylines and stuff is like
(31:57):
I find that stuff creepier thanthen like the actual horror
movie itself. Like, yeah, it'scrazy. It's sad to probably go
yeah, I'd probably have to golike that or the movies on a
while. You know, theunfortunately the old one the
second half or like that monsteris kind of stupid. But yeah, it
movies are good. You know? I'mtrying to think they even like,
(32:20):
it seemed like a crappy movie.
But even like Christine aboutthe haunted car. Like it sounds
stupid. But we watch it. Oh,yeah, it's not bad. It's pretty
cool. Like, it's just like, it'syou know, it's just they're just
they're cool movies to watch.
Like, you know, whatever.
Zac Saleski (32:33):
There's a couple
like, I've watched recent year
that kind of really kind of gotme excited was Oh, damn. Just
like scrap the plot was like, carry the old Oh,
Murph (32:44):
yeah, they made well,
they made a bunch of them. It's
just another good one thatpopped in my head. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (32:48):
like the was it?
Oh, she was like a homecomingqueen or something like that.
And then she goes nuts.
Murph (32:53):
Yep, that's it. Look, I
pulled a prank on her. And she
goes no, she's a telepath. Sowhatever. Yeah. Where she's like
move things their mind and doall that stuff. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (33:01):
yeah, just even the
original watch original couple
years ago, even to the remakepeople. You know, purists are
like, I hate that remake. Butthe remake was pretty damn
pretty good. Pretty good. Oh,it's, um, it's just good story
around. But
Murph (33:11):
the only thing I hate
about the original, we talked
about this. A lot of weirdnudity. Because these are like
girls are supposed to be in highschool. Where they naked all the
time. This is really weird.
Like, I shouldn't you'rewatching this, right? You're
like, yeah, you're like, thisdirector should probably be put
on a list or something. Like, like, yeah, like, I guess
there's like, it's like, they'retalking about like the Quentin
Tarantino theory of like, he'sgot a foot fetish. So there's a
(33:31):
lot of times like feet, webrought into pictures and all
that, like they put their rightYeah, seriously. Yeah. Like it
was just what? No, but like, like, I know, they're saying
that, like we carry like itopens up with girls on dressing
in a locker room and high schoollocker room. And you're just
kind of like, do we really needit? Like, do we really need to
go this far with it? Like, do wereally need to start like this?
Could you gotten the pointacross and another way? Yeah,
(33:52):
but no, it was weird. Yeah.
Zac Saleski (33:56):
i It's fine. Murph
made a point about Stephen King
movies. It's actuallyinteresting. I never knew this.
But a couple probably up untilmaybe two years ago, I didn't
realize that. My hometown wasactually filmed in a Stephen
King like TV movie. Calledsometimes they come back, which
is basically like, oh, it'sbasically like, the guy moves
(34:18):
back to his hometown with hisfamily. And then his his brother
was killed like early on in hislife, and he just just tried to
like move away from it and moveon. But he kind of gets the
spirits that kind of come backand visit him and kind of relive
like, those old memories andit's actually a really
interesting movie. And it Ithink, actually, they filmed me
like right before I was I wasborn so it's like it's kind of
(34:40):
weird. Can I see like all thesedifferent parts of town like Oh,
damn, I used to go there all thetime. I used to go there,
Murph (34:45):
but I haven't I haven't
seen that one. Yeah, that's I
think that's unfortunate partthough is I guess if you're a
Stephen King purist, there'smovies are not like Steven Hayes
a lot of the movies compared tolike what he wrote
Zac Saleski (34:56):
a lot of times too,
like he's usually on set. Like
all this crap. Yeah, dosomething. I think the old SWAT
your money,
Murph (35:03):
right? Like one of the
ones I heard they said that
matched what he wanted was thenewest one that came out was
like Doctor sleep or somethinglike that. Oh yeah, they said
they did a good job tying tyingthe original shining with the
one that he wrote. I didn't seeit. I want to see it. It's
actually here. It's like reallygood. That way
Zac Saleski (35:22):
the people who
watched the shining initially
that they don't like it at allright? Because like, basically
it takes all those old likestories and those old Stephen
King movies that did really welland they base tie everything
together in the same universe.
They did it. It's a long movie,but it's I liked it. Okay. It's
you want to hear
Murph (35:39):
Stephen King actually
liked it. Good. Yeah, I heard I
heard he liked it. I think 201They took, I think they because
to tie it to the movie, theyasked his permission. And he
like kind of gave him the greenlight of how to do it. And so
they did a really well. So I waslike, Yeah, I was watching. They
do on TV. They do like it's Ithink it's called Eli Roth's,
like history of horror, whateverkind of enjoyed really does you
(36:01):
realize kind of the culture ofhorror movies like, oh,
everywhere, so it kind of to meadds an extra special, you know,
like twist to some of this stuffis sometimes I watch a movie and
I'm like, This guy, you knowwhat I mean? Like, it's you're
just wasting time by love kindof cultures behind them and all
that kind of stuff. Like it justmakes me feel like I wasn't just
watching something dumb. Likethere's like some real finesse
(36:22):
and artistry to it. But there's
Zac Saleski (36:24):
it I think it's
this new generation now. So
what's going on is I've seen alot of these movies, Halloween
movies that are kind of pickingup and they're, they're, they're
doing a good job now of becauseI think they realize that their,
their, their demographic, theyrealize all these guys are not
idiots. So we can just havethese carriers make stupid,
(36:45):
stupid decisions. Yeah. Sobasically what's going on is
they're, they're doing a reallygood job. Like asking these
authors you read it, right?
Like, if it's off a book there, make sure like they double
check, triple check. Make surethe story is great. And then one
thing that's kind of a, I don'tknow, low on the totem pole for
a lot of directors that I'venoticed is that they don't
really they don't really setthis the setting into like a
(37:09):
warm, like a fall Halloweensetting too well, like that's
something that it's hard for meto kind of really get into a
movie I get supposed to be setin Halloween if it's not done
well enough. And the only oneskind of put me in that Halloween
mindset, I guess you could sayit would be. Oh, wonderful. A
few years back. I think it'strick or treat was one as a good
(37:32):
one. I did a good job. That onethat was a good one in a good
job with like the light bunch
Murph (37:38):
of short stories around
Halloween time, which was like,
yeah, that made a lot of sense.
But it's great.
Zac Saleski (37:43):
Yeah. And that one,
and I actually would even argue,
damn. Well, my one way or myunderdog favorites that I think
people will probably criticizeme for is a Halloween three.
Season the witch which hasnothing to do with Michael
Myers.
Murph (38:00):
Oh, that one? Yeah. It's
not the one with the masks.
Yeah, yeah.
Zac Saleski (38:03):
It's actually if
they've made that do stand
alone. I should do really, really well. I think
Murph (38:07):
I think maybe I think
what they the mistake they make
them are watching that andbecause they were trying to look
at Halloween. Yeah. I'm sorry tosee what you're saying. I think
if they they spun off from theMichael Myers instead of like,
like paying homage to him a lot.
I think it would have helpedmore because it gives him like,
where is Michael Myers? Notdead? Like where is
Zac Saleski (38:26):
he? Like they
really make it like any sort of?
Yeah, there may be traditionthere.
Murph (38:30):
Yeah. Then they tried to
make it sound like it was the
power of his mask. And I waslike, Okay, now we're getting
kind of weird.
Zac Saleski (38:35):
Like what they were
doing was like they wanted to
kind of create like a MarvelUniverse for like Halloween
through Michael Myers. Sobecause like through the essence
of Michael Myers through thename Halloween, like I'll just
make a just make a Halloweenuniverse. I'm like, This is not
a nightmare for Christmas. Yeah.
Right. But is that a standalone?
Great? Yeah, I think I think itwould still hold up today if
(38:55):
they remade it, honestly.
Murph (38:57):
Oh, that's actually that
brings me to another question is
brew Yeah. Number for Christmas.
You count as a Halloween movieor Christmas movie? Oh, man.
That's tough. Which Tim Burton?
Guide is pretty good. I likeweird movies. But you just
pretty girl. No lie.
Zac Saleski (39:12):
Like Halloween is
great. Yeah.
Murph (39:14):
Even was the one like I
am number eight or something
like that. Or oh, yeah,I was pretty good to ever
watching thinking what is this?
But I actually kind of like it.
Like, you know, yeah, likeEdward Scissorhands. Like yeah,
like I heard he's the reasonJohnny Depp is pretty much as
big as he is now is becauselike, Tim Burton loved him and
just got him super
Zac Saleski (39:35):
Helena Bonham
Carter for them. Probably. Yeah,
Murph (39:37):
but anyway, sorry, we
digress. What do you what do you
think it is?
Zac Saleski (39:42):
That's tough,
because like when I was a kid, I
never really considered it ahallway movie. I think it's more
of a Christmas movie for me. AndI was I'll tell you what, I was
still fascinated that actually Inamed one of my Discord
channels. Under this I had likea Halloween forest, night or a
holiday forest. It was becauseof all the trees I had the door
(40:02):
yeah listen you understand thestress that I go through because
as a kid I was like what isthrough these doors? I need to
know all these different likeholidays I'm like damn you can
do so much with this yep I guessthey worried contacted him
numerous times about doingsomething like that where he
goes through different reallyJack cells in Dec skeleton to go
through different doors of those
Murph (40:22):
Oh, to see what like the
Easter lamb look like and all
that kind of stuff. Oh, I see.
Yeah,
Zac Saleski (40:27):
I that pissed me
off as a kid so much because
like what I need to know
Murph (40:31):
now goes through the
doors. Movies. Don't give you
those answers sometimes.
Zac Saleski (40:35):
Okay. Yeah, I kind
of considered that more of a
Christmas movie. I don't know.
Murph (40:43):
He definitely did. He did
a good job. But going by I can
probably watch it before I watchit twice. I will watch around
now. Yeah. And I also will watcharound Christmas, but I can't
watch it like the middle. That'sright. It should be. But yeah,
it's just like, yeah, and I knowyou hate that people do this.
But I am unfortunately one ofthose basic people that to me,
Christmas takes the whole month.
So like I love watching adifferent movie or things like
(41:05):
that. And so yeah, I will. Ilike watching Nightmare Before
Christmas. Like in the beginningof December. I was like, hey,
goodbye Halloween. Now we'removing on to Christmas kind of
thing. So yeah, I think gun tomy head if I had to decide I
think I consider it a Halloweenmovie over Christmas movie. Like
it's one of those I'd ratherwatch in October than December.
Zac Saleski (41:26):
I'd rather watch it
in October as well. But yeah, I
just considered more of aChristmas
Murph (41:31):
movie that he takes. It
takes like we try to think of it
and I'm sure if you did, I'msure people are going to Google
this and just like the guy withthe Thanksgiving him in Canada,
but sorry, but he sorry, lupus.
Yeah, no, I was actually goodpoint. I love it. It was
awesome. But I think like maybeyou did like a time count for
how much time was spent likereferencing each holiday. Like
(41:51):
it may be Christmas would edgeit but I've imagined it to be
pretty similar. Like, when youthink about he spends a good
chunk of the middle of themovie, doing Christmas things.
But then it's at the end he goesback to Halloween and it becomes
like a Halloween thing again. Soit's like the, the like the the
tropes the like the of like whatit just kind of it perfectly
balances out you do like apretty good job of that true but
(42:13):
anyway,
Zac Saleski (42:16):
let me ask you
then.
Murph (42:19):
When can we ask the
questions here? No.
Zac Saleski (42:25):
Then what's your
favorite Halloween kind of TV
special then? Now this that youcan count you can count TV like
movies you can count I will youknow what? TV like sitcom? Yeah,
episode as well.
Murph (42:42):
Yeah, that's tough. This
is a tough one. I'm not gonna
lie. I think I'm justunfortunate I'm a gut person. So
I will go off the first one thatpops in my head and then I
always end up changing my answerlater but first of all, American
Horror Story. It got really badunfortunately the other seasons
but I kind of started watchingthe 1970s and they do a good job
(43:02):
paying like homage to like the70 slasher movies and like you
know like the Friday the 13thand all that stuff and then like
do the first season the secondseasons of first season Mystery
House I think second seasonasylum do those those literally
watching those in college likethose got me to start doing
Halloween traditions of somewhatscary movies like like you know,
(43:26):
the the circus one it was goodin the beginning but then it got
then unfortunately they gotpopular. So then they started
doing these like, yeah, Istarted doing these two popular
right? They start doing thesestupid like midseason stops and
then restarting and I am someonethat I will unless you do
(43:46):
something good. I just hate howI like it where I would rather
it start in August or Septemberand then end in November. But
some of these American horrorstories we're going into like
December and I was like, I don'twant to watch this when I'm in
you all we like the only scaryscary Christmas movies I'll
watch is like Krampus and that'sbecause it hasn't really cool I
(44:07):
did some research into it.
Obviously the German people knowbetter than I do. But really
cool backstory in history ofthat character for the holiday.
So that's what I like I like butwhen you're doing like scary
movies and people that like itgood for you but Pete but not a
scary movie person in December,December, I'm sure true more of
me like, you know, New Year'sare coming and the year off in a
good way you know, bright happycelebratory things like you know
(44:32):
that kind of stuff like it'sbeen a long year like that kind
of thing. But I would I wouldprobably have to first say
American Horror Story and thenHalloween Town to be very close
behind that on the only reasonHalloween Town didn't take it
was because I made the mistakeof watching it recently. And as
much nostalgia and fun I hadwith it. There were times I was
like how the heck did I enjoythis? Like somebody's human was
(44:53):
really dry. Like there's allthat stuff where I was just
like, unfortunately, like Butnew TV has ruined it. But I'm,
I'm gonna reverse reverse thatquestion back to now.
Zac Saleski (45:07):
That's a man. I
still like, I love Halloween
Town as probably if you want tocount for like TV movies. I
would probably say that'sprobably that's probably one of
my top favorites. Just because Imean, that was the first time I
(45:27):
think I was in high school whenI first watched it, because I
didn't have cable growing up. SoI was like, Oh, this is sweet.
Right? And then, you know, that's it's kind of like a, I
guess. thing would kick off theholiday season for me. Next to
Hocus Pocus, I guess. But um,but that's me being a kid. But
uh, honestly, as far as like TVepisodes for like, Halloween
(45:51):
wise, man. It's difficultbecause like, I grew up in the
TG if era. So like, that was
Unknown (45:57):
God's Friday. Yeah, I
think
Zac Saleski (46:05):
the cat man, like,
it's so hard because like every
year, I mean, you had familymatters you had step by step.
You had all these shows. I justdo all these amazing Halloween
episodes, but there wassomething about me. I want to
say it's kind of a tie becausethey kind of started I think
Roseanne started it. And thenhome improvement. Really I kind
(46:27):
of lean more towards homeimprovement. Okay, when they did
their like the Halloweenepisodes, were just so much fun.
The first one was great. Thesecond one's okay. The last
one's like Yeah, but um, butthey it seemed like those two
were always competing againsteach other like oh, we're gonna
outdo you. So Rosanna kind ofhomeroom we're kind of tight for
me there. That was in
Murph (46:45):
reference Roseanne you
ever watched the the new kind of
one that's like that theGoldberg a lot of people I've
never given a shot and that waskind of weird. But yeah,
Zac Saleski (46:53):
really kind of got
into it. Okay, I watched I
watched the done. I mean, well, the newish new ish, I guess the
only season that Roseanne wason. Okay. Like the newer age one
i She was I really liked that. Ireally loved that that series
like it was they were hitting onsome some subjects. I think a
lot of TV shows were not doinggotcha at all, like on TV. Like
(47:15):
it was really good. They likethey were like the only way to
take risks. Yeah, basically itit was great. Like they there
was one episode I was reallyimpressed with where they just
they're still living in the sameneighborhood on the same street.
And then they noticed like allthese people like minorities
moving in, so she Roseanne feltlike a little bit like not
comfortable. Right? And theyfind out like next door they
(47:37):
have like Middle Eastern familymoving. So the whole the whole
show Dublin well, they mess itthough the whole the whole show
is her just being uncomfortable.
But then she starts to get toknow her neighbor and realizes
Oh, like you're, you're actuallya really interesting, like,
you're a nice person. And likekind of like that's it? Yeah,
it's very much a 90 other
Murph (47:55):
worlds kind of turning.
Yeah, it's a globalizationbecause you can go and there's
Zac Saleski (47:59):
not like nowadays,
there's so many channels like
and shows are just not doingthose types of sites anymore.
And like, that was I thought wasreally well done. And they kind
of went into other stuff whereRoseanne was having health
issues. So she was kind ofhooked on on opiates. And and
she was trying to like crap, yeah, manage that. I was like,
Unknown (48:19):
damn, this is great.
Yeah. It's like,
Murph (48:22):
he was not afraid of the
cancer culture. They weren't
afraid to tackle those stuff.
Because it was like, they evensaid that, like Mr. Rogers
didn't realize that, but I thinkI watched a documentary on him.
And he said that, like, hetackled the race problem because
he would like bring in AfricanAmerican people and like, do
things with them. Yeah. Andlike, that's not a bad, but
like, you know, like it was justbut you know what I mean? Like
he would like he would do likelessons with them and stuff like
(48:42):
that basically, like justtreating everyone normally. But
then
Zac Saleski (48:47):
like, where his
African American postal worker
was actually actually wasn't thesame like Yeah, hello kitty.
pull that together. Yeah, thatwas a symbol at the time that
society where people like youcouldn't be in the same place.
And so he was like, oh, hellwith that. I don't think right
is impressive that you don't seethat.
Murph (49:07):
Now people are too afraid
to take stances now. Yeah, they
really are. It's it's it'sunfortunate because there's so
many niche groups that canUnfortunately, it seems like
nowadays, we have to pander toeveryone. So just want to say
you don't get into a singleassume a certain niche group.
That group can get youcancelled. It's like it's crazy.
Zac Saleski (49:24):
It's like you get
caught once and then you're
done. Yeah, but yeah, that's manall the time. Oh, wow. What a
turn Why
Murph (49:30):
don't write that's a
world earns always seem to get
dark or conversational. You seemto get dark at some point you
emerge and you're darker. Right?
Exactly. Abracadabra geez,
Zac Saleski (49:43):
and wow, Chief just
once a
Murph (49:45):
Wow. Wow. A lot too. All
right. Oh, my God. Oh, what are
you gonna do now? I don't know.
Right? Probably just 18 points.
Zac Saleski (49:52):
If I just, you
know, drink a little bit and be
happy.
Murph (49:56):
There you go. That joy
joy your Sunday. Happy Sunday.
Zac Saleski (50:01):
Man, what a
credible time Oh, right. i Yeah,
it's it'll be interesting. Ithink. I know some of you guys
have kind of been asking me alittle bit about coaching this
year and I know it's gonna beinteresting landscape going
forward this year. They got likeI said to you guys, for the
beginning of the podcast, we gota brand new team Istanbul,
(50:21):
Turkey. Esta mille it's allrams. Interesting. Yes. Dope.
What
Murph (50:28):
actually should make that
comics? I don't know. I haven't
done my research on it. I readwhat is it? I read about it. And
I tried to remember it. And thenI forgot it a little bit. Who
there was something about it wastalking about the croissant that
it wasn't I don't think it'sactually invaded by the French.
I thought they said it mighthave been invented by the
Germans or somebody. And what itwas is, it was right after the
(50:52):
Ottoman Empire was defeatedthere. Their flag was still the
crescent moon. So the croissantwas put in that shape for the
crescent moon so you basicallyare eating the enemy that's
that's really dark. Yeah, Iknow. Part of I don't part I
know part of that I'm correctabout and there's about the big
stuff I'm wrong about so the theshape I know I'm right about the
(51:16):
origin country. I know it's notFrance, but I thought it's a
Germany but I'm not sure. Seeour eoA There you go. Just do
pastry,
Zac Saleski (51:30):
croissants, pastry
Murph (51:33):
origin or alright. added
into Google before.
Zac Saleski (51:39):
I don't use the
word origin now. place of origin
Austria.
Murph (51:43):
Ah, alright, so I was
close. But yes, I am. Well, I
shouldn't say I was close. Iknow Austria isn't Germany but
everyone just
Zac Saleski (51:50):
yellow reference
for that but they bullshit
story.
Murph (51:54):
No, I don't like most of
it is right. Like, like click
that first answer. See is like, because became
Zac Saleski (52:00):
the French the
moment people became to make a
puff pastry French innovation, fully taken root, and it's
adopted land or whatever.
Murph (52:10):
Maybe I'm completely
wrong. All right. I've read
something that said that. Soproblem is that's the
Smithsonian. So they're notgoing to fight them on that
they'll know better than I did
Zac Saleski (52:18):
join Mercer
protests in front of Smithsonian
right. But the orange has
Murph (52:24):
to go to work for them
for a little bit. I thought
about after I graduate myhistory majors like that'd be
kind of cool. But then Irealized, like,
Unknown (52:30):
reveal the curse
thoughts real origins? Sir, I'm
Murph (52:34):
gonna leave. It's what
happens when you read something
on the internet and do noresearch like I did. Wasn't
Wikipedia?
Zac Saleski (52:41):
I mean, I can see
that like maybe they they use
that? Yeah, in some shape orform and tell like the military
troops to kind of help boostmorale? Maybe, maybe, maybe. But
yeah, they're a little offtopic. Over the league, adding a
new team in estimator, Istanbul,Turkey. They they're still been
(53:02):
talks. And I've been getting alot of questions on this. But
there has been talks about newteams in London. But there's
been a lot of issues there fromsome people I've been talking
to, they said how basically,London's having some issues with
Brexit and a few other thingsare logistical issues there. So
(53:22):
I'm still waiting to hear fromAmsterdam, maybe up team in
Paris, or somewhere in France,at least. So I think those are
kind of the two the two targetsfor this year, which it's going
to be I mean, the amount ofopenings this year, it's gonna
be crazy. There's gonna be somuch and so much like interest
(53:43):
in this brand new league and yougot just amount of players
they're going to be interestedin this new league. It's going
to be wild and crazy, but Ithink coming going forward, it's
it's this year is I think theGFL should watch out. Just say,
Murph (53:59):
but that's just me. Oh,
man caught the GFL
Zac Saleski (54:05):
but, uh, me well,
my old team paddleboard dolphins
are they doing good? They aregoing to the I don't know how
they do this the promotionplayoff so they're like the
second round. Okay, I think nextrounds I think there's only two
rounds so basically like tworounds the top two teams I don't
(54:26):
know how to structure thisbecause we have like the south
playoffs and the North playoffsOkay, they're battling for the
north which I believe
Murph (54:31):
they're playing like AFC
NFC Yeah, cuz
Zac Saleski (54:34):
how they they cuz
they have room for GFL to do for
two is split into two for Northand South. Okay, so I think
they're battling for thenorthern part and then but
they're gonna go up against Ibelieve Hildesheim invaders
which used to be GOP one team.
Unknown (54:49):
Oh, so
Murph (54:50):
there Yeah. the underdog
then. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (54:53):
it they've been
have a great year. I wish him
luck. All right. No offense. Ihope you know honestly, I have
no ill wills to It's i i lovedmy time paddleboard it was
fantastic. I love the people Ilove the city it was just
wonderful but I sometimes youjust got to move on.
Murph (55:11):
That's fair and close
that chapter move on to another
one. Yeah,
Zac Saleski (55:14):
in order to grow as
a coach, you just got to go to
somewhere else and just, youknow, kind of get your roots and
then build from there you
Murph (55:21):
go. And then you show
them how good you were. The next
place had a board you beat theshit.
Zac Saleski (55:27):
It's really not
like a salty usually I am
somewhat like salty, salty guysometimes with some teams but
really, there's no ill will. No,that's good. We good? You feel
me?
Murph (55:38):
Mo hurry up and we'll
break up and
Zac Saleski (55:43):
just just be
friends that's it. Here we go.
Exactly.
Unknown (55:46):
But anything else
Murph? Anything else? Hmm
Nothing.
Murph (55:50):
I've already yeah, I've
already miss misspoke historical
facts. So we got that out thegate. Okay, yeah. All right.
Zac Saleski (55:59):
You waited a whole
damn podcast for that store.
Exactly.
Murph (56:02):
whole damn podcast.
That's what keeps them coming.
So keys into the end of the endof it you just tease it be like
hey, murder for the randomhorrible not even right
historical fact. Please don'tgoogle it. Or check in Don't
Don't Don't Don't go it's right.
Yeah, I said it's yeah. Is hismajors only in his majors only
in history. It's a masters oranything. Food History. Just.
Exactly. Yeah. No.
Zac Saleski (56:26):
Chill out Gordon
Ramsay.
Murph (56:27):
Right. Exactly. No, I
guess. I think did we talk about
your last podcast? Yeah.
Michelle seasons kind of finallyofficially kicked off. So that's
it. I mean, yeah, dude. Yeah.
Zac Saleski (56:38):
How did your
brother do?
Murph (56:39):
scored? He scored a goal
in his first game, which was
awesome, bro.
Zac Saleski (56:43):
Click on the
Murph (56:44):
right. Oh, sweet.
Unfortunately, they lost. Idon't think they've won. So
they're Oh, and three right now?
I don't know. Like they're Oh,two and ones. I think they tied
a game but lost in overtime. Andthen they lost two games. But
their home opener is Tuesday, Ibelieve so that'll be exciting.
I unfortunately will not bethere. But that's exciting.
(57:06):
Awesome. Love economy. Hey, gotexactly. On my dad's in with the
Rangers, they are doing their111. So I think they lost they
lost one ot they won last night.
And then they lost their firstgame. So they're doing okay,
they're looking okay, a problemis is like go on to and go long
thing. Right, exactly. Theproblem is, it's, I mean, you
know, it's like an 82 gameseason or something like that.
(57:28):
So it's like, first, I mean, thefirst two weeks are pretty big
to kind of see, you know, tokind of set you off and how
you're going to do but like youhave so many games as just kind
of like, you know, oh, well, like you can make up for it. So
yeah, um, you know, there'sgrowing pains with new coaching
and of course, the Blackhawksthere's a lot of new players.
But, you know, we'll, we'll see,I guess, you know, we'll just
(57:50):
the more and more if we keepdoing more and more of these
podcasts. We'll just see as theas the year goes on how language
changes and by body structureand all that stuff. You know, I
start letting myself go. I don'tknow. You're just gonna just
kind of crazy things. But we'll
Zac Saleski (58:05):
send some big love
into Connor Murphy's way. Maybe
he'll start getting some W
Murph (58:09):
he did get the A so he's
an assistant. Only thanks. Well,
I know right. The only thingthat's weird though, is it's
only on the road. So he does notget it for home games. Yeah,
it's a weird thing they're doingunfortunately, fortunately,
letters. They are partiallyabout leadership. They're also
partially about ticket sales. SoI think the guy that's going to
get the A for home games is abetter player than Connor. So
(58:31):
it's like, oh, better tickets.
Seems to bring it a good timeforward. So of course, Jonathan
Taves as the captain great, great player gladiator makes
complete sense. I think PatrickKane has one of these as we like
again, great forward they callhim Showtime for a reason. Like
guys guys a Hall of Famer, he'sa stud and then my brother gets
(58:53):
it on the road to Brink it getsit at home. And I think that's
it. So confusing. Yeah, so it ishockey hockey likes to do that
sometimes.
Zac Saleski (59:06):
But it was put in
the contract or something. Yeah,
but
Murph (59:09):
yeah, other than that,
no, that's really kind of all
about it. I mean, it's it was ashort one unfortunately can't go
forever today but that's prettymuch all we had an hour all
right. That's pretty much ourgood, right? That's pretty much
no that's pretty much all theall the things I guess if anyone
is wondering, I guess that's whyit's kind of a shorter one
today, after I run off to my ownadult league hockey, so Zach's
(59:30):
like yo, our viewers really wantto hear your lovely voice Tyler
and I was like, I mean, okay, fine. So yeah, so I gotta worry
here. Exactly. So we justquickly kind of kind of jumped
this in before I had to run off.
Yeah, we're actually gettingdangerously close. Oh, yeah.
Yeah, unfortunately.
Zac Saleski (59:48):
Oh, as always guys,
make sure you guys you know,
like the podcast. Please do giveit a review on Apple or
wherever.
Murph (59:56):
You guys Exactly. German
football questions I love sit
and listen to him rant aboutGerman. In football, it was like
oh, okay, I can't I can't waiton this on it.
Zac Saleski (01:00:05):
Exactly keep them
quiet right? It's always guys if
you guys are also on YouTubemake sure you guys leave some
comments love to answer somemore questions be awesome and
and
Murph (01:00:15):
give us content
Zac Saleski (01:00:16):
yeah all the
content really should be
Murph (01:00:19):
role reversal and are
going to see what who do what to
say something. Oh well reversewhat? Just say your thing and
then maybe we'll do it.
Zac Saleski (01:00:26):
Oh yeah. Oh, okay I
just I just ruined that dude i i
don't know what your child saidI was gonna say
Murph (01:00:32):
I was just gonna say say
by Zach just like you
Unknown (01:00:41):
say bye Murph yeah bye
bye
