Marijanel (00:00):
I have a question for
you.
Do you consider yourself to beadaptable, versatile,
resourceful, open-minded?
Do any of these pertain to you?
Have you demonstratedresilience at any time in your
life when facing a challenge?
If you've said yes, do any ofthese characteristics?
I've got news for you.
It means that you're creative.
(00:21):
Now hang on.
I want you to hear me out, because what I'm about to reveal
to you about creativity and itsaccessibility to you is going
to change your life.
Today, I have news for you.
(00:41):
Creativity is not limited toartistic expression.
It is for everyone, it isaccessible to everyone and you
have it.
You have it already and, infact, you're already
demonstrating it in your life.
You say how?
Because creativity isimagination in action.
It's whatever you imagine andenvision coming to life through
(01:04):
what you do.
So everything you do thatyou've imagined beforehand, if
you've thought about how you'regoing to style your hair, what
you're going to cook forbreakfast, the book you're going
to read to your kid at nightall of these things are your
imagination in action, and thatis creativity.
Creativity is problem solving, analyzing, being able to
(01:24):
critically think through achallenge.
It's resourcefulness, it's theability to change, versatility
All of these characteristicsthat I mentioned in the
beginning are creativity inaction.
Okay, so let's just revisit howI've described wholeheartedness
in the past.
Wholeheartedness is livingauthentically yourself, in the
(01:48):
present moment.
It's living the fullness of whoyou were created to be.
It's living in genuinesincerity, growing into
wholeness in body, mind andspirit.
It is taking one step at a time, growing into the place of
being wholehearted.
Okay, so if that's thedefinition of wholehearted, I
(02:10):
truly, through and through everycore fiber of my being, believe
that creativity is intertwinedinto all of that, just like a
system of the human body.
So if you think about thesystems of the human body, we
are made of all these systems Iwon't name them all Respiratory,
digestive, nervous I'verecently had an encounter with
(02:34):
my muscular system.
I've had a sore shoulder.
I've told you about it in thepast.
It hurts so bad that I couldhardly get to sleep and I was
going to physio for my shouldermuscles, my rotator cuff, and
then it was suggested to me thatI would also visit the
chiropractor to look at myskeletal system.
(02:55):
Now why?
Because all the systems areintertwined.
By going to Cairo and having myadjustments there, it has
actually benefited and reallyhelped heal up my muscle.
Why?
Because it's all intertwined.
And why didn't I think about itsooner, I don't know.
I went through about six monthsof pain and then someone said,
hey, have you visited the Cairo?
(03:16):
I should have thought of that.
Well, I'm here today to be thatperson and say hey, have you
thought of your creativitylately?
Because it is crucial to cominginto a place of whole
heartedness.
Are you feeling unfulfilled, dissatisfied in your life, bored
, just needing a change?
(03:37):
Look at your creativity as youbegin to acknowledge it, give
license to it and nurture it sothat it comes into a place of
thriving, growing, blooming.
This creativity has the abilityto totally change your life for
the better.
(03:57):
Okay, I believe it does thatthrough opening doors of
opportunity.
In my own life and world, I haveseen so many opportunities be
made available because I hadacknowledged and acted upon my
creative visions, my thoughts,my innermost imaginations.
And I'm not talking that it hasto be in the realm of art.
(04:18):
Separate the word creativityfrom the word art and let
creativity be connected to allactions, all imagination that
you hope for in your life, evenif that's planning your vacation
, you're being creative.
Okay, so I have seen the doorsof opportunity open through
(04:40):
creativity in my life, I haveseen creativity be a safety net,
for in times of trouble, intimes of desperation, it's been
a place of soft landing and Ifeel that those doors of
opportunity and that place ofsafety and creativity needs to
be offered to our futuregeneration.
(05:01):
This is one of the main reasonsI'm passionate about
demonstrating my creativity tothe fullest in my life is
because I care about who'scoming next.
I care about my own childrenthat I've raised, who are now
adults, the children that theymight have someday, the children
that are all around me, theones that I'm impacting over on
(05:21):
my kids YouTube channel, mj andMissy Mae.
It matters to me that I'm numberone, demonstrating my talents
through creativity, but alsoinspiring theirs, whatever they
may be, because, you see, we'renot all going to have mirror
images of duplicate, you know, creative journeys.
We're going to all have our ownself expressions through the
(05:45):
mediums of personal preference, through the way that we want to
express ourselves in thislifetime.
Mine won't be yours, yourswon't be mine, but the common
thread through it all iscreativity and imagination.
When you give license to yourimagination and you recognize
that your actions, whateveractions you take on those dreams
(06:06):
, is creative, even if that'swhere you walk the dog tonight.
Okay, I'm trying to simplifythis and blow the lid off it at
the same time, I hope.
I hope I'm doing what I'veintended to do today to bring
out from what's inside of you tothe outside, giving you
(06:27):
creative license.
Your actions are creativebecause you're the one who
thought of them.
The more you dream or plan onyour actions, the more creative
they become.
The more you practice your selfexpression, the more talented
you become.
Dig into that a little bit.
I'm not going to unpack thatone, but we call this
imagination, we call this vision.
(06:48):
So creativity is yourimagination and vision.
Come to life and all humanityhas that.
So you see, it's not set asidefor the elite artist, it's
accessible to everyone.
I want to level the playingfield on creativity.
I want the kids that are comingup in the next generation to
(07:10):
know creativity is level.
There's no higher ranking inbeing creative.
It's what do you want to dowith it?
It's just like you have amuscular system.
What do you want to do with it?
Are you going to exercise it?
Are you going to go as far asbeing a competitive bodybuilder
or are you just going to be fit.
(07:30):
It's up to you and you get todo as you were designed and you
feel inclined to do.
I also want to take a moment andrecognize all of you who felt
like you've been in a bit of abox creatively, where you've
thought you know, my career inlife that I chose isn't very
(07:51):
creative.
Maybe you're an analyst ormaybe something like in the
field of numbers, like anaccountant, and you feel like
it's not very creative andyou're wishing to be at home in
your sewing room or somethingalong those lines.
I want you to know that whatyou're doing in the world of
strategy is no less creativethan any other realm.
(08:13):
It's just your mindset of howyou approach it, because if you
give yourself a license to becreative in whatever action is
in front of you in that moment, you're going to breathe life
into what you're doing.
And so if you're feeling stuckin some kind of really you know
(08:36):
spreadsheet driven world, youcan have the most creative
spreadsheets ever and still andbe able to thrive.
I tell myself that whenever Ihave a left brain kind of day,
that kind of day where I have tosit down and get my office work
done, and I'm not feeling itbecause I'd rather be doing
something to me funner creating.
(08:58):
I'm like no, no, no, this iscreative too and I'm going to
approach it creatively and letthe doors of opportunities swing
wide as I create in that space.
My journey is your superpowerin problem solving.
It is honestly like if you wereto strip away all of my arts
and talents, which I have a lotof them in my life.
(09:19):
If any of you have known myjourney, I am a multi-form
artist.
I've experienced many, manyvery unique opportunities
creating in life.
But if you were to separate itnow, just so you know, it's not
separated from me.
I am, I feel, whole and fluidin how I've experienced my life.
So I don't try to separate.
But if you were to do thisdissection and separate, move
(09:42):
over here all of Marijanel's artand talent and just take, like
the everyday mundane and likethe basic things I do, or like
maybe the most dull employmentI've ever had, and say to me can
you still be creative withoutany of that talent?
I would feel 100% yes, I couldmake the best of my life without
(10:07):
any artistic talent.
I feel like I have before, butbecause, if you know any bit
about my history, I have run dry, I have burnout.
I've had seasons and periods oftime where I've had to like set
aside the art stuff and be likeI gotta take a break and that's
healthy, that's healthy, that'sgood.
I mean, I don't think it'shealthy that we get to the point
(10:28):
of burnout, but if we do,sometimes we just need that
break and I've been able to takejust that regular you know no
talent situation in my life andstill feel like I was being the
most creative.
We went through a period of timesix months where I built a
house.
I was the general contractor.
(10:49):
I wouldn't call that one of mymost artistic endeavors that
I've done in my life, but it wassurely creative.
It was so creative organizingthat bar chart.
I remember the day that I madethe big bar chart and I held it
up to a lot of the contractorsand they were like whoa, that
thing's a work of art because, you see, any thing that we're
(11:11):
bringing out of our imaginationinto existence is the work of
creativity.
If you're solving a crisis inyour life right now, if you're
facing some huge, shatteringchallenge that you just don't
know what to do about it, I canguarantee you that you're
tapping into your creativity asyou think it through, as you
(11:33):
walk through the event in yourlife, you are relying on your
creativity.
The sad thing is that many of usdon't acknowledge our
creativity and through notacknowledging it, we're not
giving ourselves permission togrow it, to celebrate it, to
enjoy it and see it come intoits greatest fruition.
(11:56):
As I've mentioned, livingwholeheartedly is living in the
present moment fully andauthentically yourself, and to
be authentically yourself.
We've got to acknowledgecreativity as being a part of
that, because it's for all of us, it's an open door for all of
us, and there is a scripture, aproverb, that says where there
(12:19):
is no vision, the people perish.
To me that's like where there'sno vision or imagination, or
maybe we could even stretch itto say creativity where that
creativity isn't given anylicense, the people perish.
Because vision and the actionthat we take on it is our
creativity, and so the seed, theseed of creativity, is the
(12:43):
vision, and so where there's novision, the people perish.
And so I want to urge you toacknowledge, give license and
nurture your creativity.
Take all negative self-talk outof your vocabulary.
No more saying things like Idon't have a creative bone in my
body or, you know I'm not thatcreative one.
(13:06):
No more saying anything likethat, but embrace the fact that
you're creative.
Creativity is a level playingfield.
The opportunity is there andaccessible, not reserved for
elite artists.
It is for you.
Have I convinced you?
Have I made you see howimportant your vision, your
(13:27):
imagination, the thoughts anddesires of your heart?
