To 1964, o γίγαντας της επιστημονικής φαντασίας Ισαάκ Ασίμοφ έδωσε μία συνέντευξη στους New York Times, όπου έκανε εικασίες για το πώς θα ήταν ο κόσμος πενήντα χρόνια μετά, το 2014. Οι προβλέψεις του; Ιδιαίτερα ακριβείς, καθώς εκτίμησε σωστά ότι οι υπολογιστές θα ήταν πανταχού παρόντες, «στην τσέπη του καθενός μας» (κινητά), ότι η πληροφορία θα ήταν άμεσα διαθέσιμη για τον καθένα μας, οπουδήποτε στον κόσμο (Ίντερνετ) και ότι τα οχήματα χωρίς οδηγούς θα ήταν στους δρόμους (σύντομα πραγματικότητα). Ωστόσο, θα σας πω κάτι. Εάν κάποιος μετέφερε τον Ασίμοφ (που απεβίωσε το 1992) στο σήμερα, και τον ρωτούσε πώς θα είναι ο κόσμος μας σε 50 χρόνια, ο συγγραφέας θα δυσκολευόταν πολύ να απαντήσει.
