moving in our lives, which istypically okay, but we added
some extra wrinkles the lastmonth and a half, almost two
months.
That has caused us to notrecord anything, because this

But you know we have
a business and family and stuff
and church and sports havehappened and all of the other
million things.
It's baseball season, it'ssoftball season and marriage is
very much a high priority, andwe'll talk about that here in a
moment as to why this has kindof taken a backseat, so I'm not

I coach the softball team.

Alabama and spring sports,baseball, softball are very
popular sports.

sports, but a lot gets into it.
So softball season started thatsecond week of February and
since then you've been running90 to nothing.

a week.

weekends Weekends that haven't
been postponed or canceled dueto weather.

It's been wild and crazy andour son Cash kicked off baseball
season.
He's playing in a new leaguewhich he is having Killing it.
He is having more fun playingbaseball.
I mean he's playing well, whichis great, and we love that, but
he is having more fun playingnow than he has in years.
You can see the smile on hisface how he interacts with his
teammates, the other teams.

I mean he's chalking it up andjust having a— he enjoys going
to play.

He enjoys playing the
game when it was becoming a
chore where we currently livecurrently currently, but so
that's taken up a lot of ourtime.

Um, speaking of
currently living, this was
probably the biggest thing thathappened over the last two
months where it was like, okay,well, here we go, and a lot of
our extra time, extra intention,where normally we would be
recording and doing the podcastand recording videos, uh just
kind of had to take a back seatbecause we felt like, hey, this
is where we are supposed to go.

So in the last two months, wehave been prepping our house to
sell a lot of prepping we reallyfingers bleeding prepping we
really prepped a whole lot in avery short amount of time.
So we're looking at a house in aparticular area where we've
always wanted to be in aneighborhood that we looked at

our very first home ever in thisneighborhood, 16, 17 years ago.

before we got married.

Maybe even before
that, and it's like this is
where we want to be.

And obviously.

We haven't been there
there, but the opportunity came
up.
Some of the closest people inour lives live in this
neighborhood, and all thosefamilies are like they didn't
live there then no, but now theydo they do, and now it's a
y'all come on come on to bethere even more yes, it makes us
want to be there more.
so we found a house in theneighborhood we really, really
liked.
It didn't turn out to be whatwe wanted it to.
We found another house that wewere going to settle for and it

was like, well, this is where wewant to be and the location
near the people we want to be.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
We'll settle for this

So we went in and put
an offer on this house that had
been on the market for months.
We're like, okay, it happy with.
And that afternoon we put theoffer in.
They come back to us and say,oh, we're pulling the house off
the market, we're moving backinto the house After being on
the market for months.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
It was almost a year.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Maybe it was almost a
year being on the market for so
long.
No, offers period no offers, no, nothing, and I was like, okay,
well, maybe this is the one theLord has set for us, and we
prayed over that and wesubmitted.
The offer came back and itlooked like the Lord just
slammed the door shut, it waslike, yeah, no, this, this isn't
the one for you.
So that night a new listingcomes up.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
We had, I mean just
our hearts ripped from our chest

Yeah, so a brand new
listing comes up, no other homes
for sale in the neighborhoodNope.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
So a brand new
listing comes up, because there
was no other homes for sale inthe neighborhood Nope.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
So a new listing
comes up that night and it
checks basically every box onthe list especially for you how
it's painted, how it's designed,how it's laid out, the bright
size, everything about it.
It's like, okay, well, maybethis is the one.
So we go look at it the verynext day.
We were the first First peopleto go look at it the very next

day and we were the first, firstpeople to go look at it or a
viewing that they had, firstviewing they had on.
I think it was on a friday andI was like, wow, this checks all
, all the boxes.

I didn't even want to
go in because we had been so
heartbroken and let down.
I didn't want to go in to seeif it was that perfect, because
I didn't want my heart to bebroken again.

No.
So we went in, we looked at it.
It was like this is checkingall the boxes.
The yard was not perfect.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
All of our friends
even came with this.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
But the house itself
was like this is the one.

It's great.

And I know you walked
around the house praying over
the house.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
I was praying over it
before I walked in it.

I walked throughout
every room and was just like.

Lord, let this be you

I didn't know you were doingthat and you didn't know I was.

Make it clear that this is you.

Let this be you.
So we go in, we make the offer.
We kind of come back and forthjust a little bit for a couple
of days, and I think it wasbasically like that Monday, our
offer is done, it's accepted,we're ready to go.

The next day our
house.
Is it coming soon?

Pending yeah, pending
an inspection.
So our house is coming soon.

It was going to go
live that Friday.

It was going to go
live and so that was the time,
and we ultimately had two weeksduring coming soon to just not
like anything major had to bedone.
You know the house is in reallygood shape but some touch-up
paint, some fixing.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
you know this little
ding in the wall here just kind
of touching things up.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Definitely lived in
the house.
Yeah, definitely lived in, andso we were doing that, and that
was during the day you weredoing that.
Then you'd go do softball, I'dcome home from work, you'd come
home from softball, home fromsalt ball.
And we are also cash hadsurgery.
Cash, that, that's right.
Cash had had surgery.
We are painting, we are doingall the things till 11 o'clock
midnight every single night totry and get this place ready to

go, and we have the homeinspection On the house that we
put an offer on.
It was like the next week.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yes, our house was
going live on the market that
Friday.
The inspection was theWednesday of that same week.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah, Well, we had
pushed it all the week because
the inspector was there and he'sphenomenal, he did this house.
He was great for us.
So we go through the inspectionand he's like man the house is
perfect.
He said everything about thehouse is perfect inspection and
he's like man.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
the house is perfect.
So everything about the houseis perfect, which was great.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
He said.
Here is the problem.
He said there's some drainagestuff, there's retaining walls.
He said they weren't doneproperly.
He said now they can be fixed.
That's not a problem, they caneasily be fixed, no big deal.
But it's got to be fixed and hebasically says he says, hey,
I'm not going to.
He said I would not recommendmoving until it's fixed or they
come down on the offertremendously to be able to move

into this house.
So we go back to the sellerswith the inspection copy, the
inspection, the pictures,everything.
And there are a couple oflittle small, minor things which
you're going to find on everyhome inspection.
No big deal.
They go yeah, we'll fix allthis stuff but not the walls we
don't want to touch the walls.
And not only that, but they dragtheir feet for five, six days

with no community.
Yeah, we'll have it back to youon this day nothing happens.
Yeah, we'll have it back to youby lunch nothing happens.
We'll have it to back to you bythe end of the night, but they
also kept saying why is yourhouse not active on the market?
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Why is your house not
active on the?
Speaker 1 (10:24):
market.
That's their only concern.
We're like well, we're notgoing live until we know this is
done and the contract isfinished.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
So they drug their
feet.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
And ultimately, they
would not get the walls fixed.
They would not come off theprice, and we had to and it.
They would not come off theprice and we had to, and it was
a tough decision.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I was like all right,
well, I mean, this was the one,
this is going to be our foreverhome.
But when somebody says thatthis is not done the proper way,
this house will be off the hillin 10 to 15 years.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
That's a red flag.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, it was a huge
red flag and I mean we were very
$100,000 could possibly be thecost of fixing this.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Could and that was a
high end, you know,
realistically we're probablythinking 50 to $60,000 to fix
that that's a massive chunk ofchange to come out of pocket.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, and that's
something we weren't willing to
do?
Speaker 2 (11:11):
We don't have that.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
We were very
conflicted about it.
Not sure you know what, god.
We thought this was the one, um, and of course we're like well,
what do we do?
Uh, we're talking about it,we're praying about it, you know
, talk, talk to one of ourpastors about it and he made it
plain as day and clear andsimple.
He said what's the prayer?
From the beginning, he saidwanting to make it smooth and
(11:33):
easy.
I said yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
He said well is this
smooth and easy?
Speaker 1 (11:36):
has it been smooth
and easy?
I said once no.
He said then you know thiswasn't from the Lord.
He said if you prayed that, andyou faithfully prayed that
prayer, he's going to make itabundantly clear, smooth and
easy.
He said this has not beensmooth, it has not been easy.
He said so, this is not fromhim.
(11:59):
He said now you can still gothrough with it.
He will still bless it.
He said but what the one otherthing you're doing is you are
keeping yourself from theblessing he has down the road.
He said are you willing to dothat?
And that pretty much made itclear like OK we're going to
wash our hands of it.
We're going to go through thatno problemo.
(12:19):
So we did all the work, we wentthrough all the steps, we got
our house prepared, ready tosell, and, man, it was stressful
and heartbreaking and it wasvery difficult.
A whole lot of emotion thatgoes along with that, and so
that's been a big chunk of ourtime.
We've looked at several otherhouses since and just none of
them screamed hey, this issupposed to be for you.
(12:40):
So we're still currently in themiddle of all of that.
We don't know what will happen.
We may be where we are now fora little longer Hopefully not
much longer.
We'll just have to see what theLord does.
So that was a whole lot ofother stuff that went on over
the last two months Spring breakjust happened.
(13:01):
Before that we had very, veryscary well actually, yeah, two
weeks ago we were all right hey,let's, let's record some stuff,
let's get prepared, record someepisodes we need to get back
back out there and sure enoughwe were actually going to do um
episodes before we went onspring break because you said,
(13:21):
oh, I'll have all the springbreak time to do all this blah
blah, whatever you do with them.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
And why are you
laughing?
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Whatever you do with
them, I don't know what you do
with them.
Speaker 2 (13:31):

You just said hey, they're upthere, Okay.

Right, but the day
that we had we typically do
these on Sundays the day that wewere planning to do those
episodes.

We're going to do
them on a Saturday because we're
going to be here, let's do them.

It got real scary
here.

Got really scary.
We were in a high severeweather tornado high risk.
And sure enough, we had atornado come through two of them
, but one serious one comethrough where we currently live,
now about two and a half milesSouth of us.
I just messed up but did it.
You know, near the, near theintermediate school where our

daughter goes to school, nearthe high school, uh, where you
are a lot of the time.
Uh destroyed a lot of property,uh, through there.
So that was another very scaryday where we're glued to the tv,
we're watching james span.
For anyone who doesn't know whojames span is, he is the.
He is a legend in the state ofalabama.
He is the meteorologist.
He knows everything there is toknow about this state and
weather and patterns.
He is the man.

the basement.

everything and we have the tvgoing.
We had we had a mattress in thefloor where our feet are right
now, where our daughter waslaying because it was going to
come through that evening andthat night it was almost an all
day event so we were planning tospend the night here, so
obviously we didn't it was overaround 11 pm ish we didn't
record that night because and wedidn't get to record the next

day because the softball teamwanted to help.

There was so much
damage and stuff that was done
and our girls were the first to.
What can we do?
What do people need?
which was amazing and it hit atrailer park that was really
close to where the intermediateschool is.
The same tornado hit theintermediate school, but it's
just demolished.

I mean we were there the nextmorning.
I mean you had already gone tochurch and me and the kids were
going to say, okay, well, westayed up really late, we're
just going to go.
This is the 1130.
And I was up, you had alreadygotten to church.
Yeah, you had texted me I said,I am really torn right now, not
like Natalie and Brulia torn,but creed torn, creed torn, and

I need to know if I have thisstrong urge.
I'm not serving at church today, but I need to serve, and where
I'm supposed to serve is, Ifeel like, is this cleanup?

Yeah Well, you text
me during the 9 am or like I'm
torn whether to come to churchor to go help with the cleanup.
And it was a pretty easydecision you can either go to
church or you can go be thechurch, and that's exactly what
you did.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
The kids and I went
to be the church that day.

helped.

I just was so proud
of our children and for them to
be able to see people just cometogether that didn't know each
other, didn't know the peoplethat this happened to.
We're just pitching in helpingand they just jumped right in,
no questions asked If they weretold to do something.

And that's the way it
is supposed to be.

tornado cleanup.

then last week spring break, we
were gone all week for springbreak to Orlando and back.
It was like, okay, we have torecord, because everyone who
listens and watches you havebeen faithfully listening.
The prayer has always been forthe Lord to take this to the

ears that need to hear it, evenwhen we're, you know, kind of
idle and not necessarily doinganything.
Uh, people are still listeningin record numbers more downloads
than we could ever even imagine.
So we're we're extremelythankful for that, but it's time
for us to get back on the horseand continue to be able to do
this.
I mean, just just give lastweek.

It was more than we
could really imagine.

Well, for every week
there was, it was maybe a couple
weeks after we hadn't doneanything, and the most off the
chart downloads came through wasover 7 000 yeah, for that week
for that week and I said okay,god, I'm listening, we will get

back to this uh podcast, Ipromise but each week it was
like 7,000, 4,000, 3,000, 5,000.

5,000 again last week.

Holy cow.

And it's just, it
continues to be more and more
and more.
So, needless to say, we'redoing it yet again and right now

most of our attention
has been married AF, not the
podcast, not YouTube, not socialmedia, but our small group.
This small group has been fun.
The small group has been amazingthat we do through our church,
cultivate church we we hadtalked about it and, um, just
decided, you know, it's, whilethis is great and it's a great
platform and we're thankful forit Uh, the personal time, uh,

getting to know each other, theone-on-one time with people and
with couples, and to see couplesinteract, has been awesome and
has been amazing.
Just pump the brakes on that.
It's been incredible to be ableto see.
So we've been all in on thesmall group and making sure
we're prepared for that andready for that and to be able to

really enrich the lives ofcouples so they can get to know
themselves better, get to knoweach other better, get to know
other couples better and livethe marriage out the way that
God intended it from the verybeginning.
And we've seen amazing turnout.
We've seen amazing thingshappen from that.
We're seeing relationships kindof be rebuilt, being restored.
We're seeing relationshipsdevelop between the couples for

friendships and doing lifetogether, which is just amazing
to watch and amazing to see.
So that's where we've been.
You obviously saw something, sowe'll wrap up with that.
