What’s your why—and is it strong enough to keep you going when business gets hard?

Jessica Rosario shares a powerful reflection on how identifying your deeper purpose can become the fuel behind every early morning and late-night work session. She invites you to explore your personal why through two simple but profound questions and a journaling activity inspired by Dean Graziosi’s seven levels deep exercise. Whether it’s freedom, family, or financial goals, Jessica emphasizes how clarity around your why brings focus, motivation, and alignment.

If your goals feel out of sync or your energy is scattered, revisiting your why may be the reset you need. When your actions align with purpose, success becomes not only possible—but inevitable.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hello and welcome to the Maximize your Day podcast, a
place for entrepreneurs forbuilding their business, in
pursuit of freedom andflexibility to do the things
they love.
I'm your host, jessica Rosario.
I'm a New Yorker turnedFloridian who knows a thing or
two on how to effectively manageyour time while juggling
multiple priorities.
I'm an ex-corporate leader whowalked away from my

(00:38):
nine-to-five-ish to launch andgrow my business.
Launch and grow my business.
In this podcast, I shareinsights on mindset, business
productivity, habits andstrategies to help you take
control of your to do list andmaximize your day, which will
help you feel more confident andless overwhelmed and getting
more done in less time.
I'm so excited you're here.

(01:01):
Go ahead, listen in.
What do you think mostsuccessful entrepreneurs and
small business owners have incommon?
No, it's not experience andnope, it's not extraordinary
skills and no, it's not even apowerful drive.
Although all these things candefinitely help you and your

(01:24):
business grow, they're not aprerequisite for success.
After all, no one is born withexperience or skills and plenty
of successful people lack thedrive.
The one thing they have incommon is that they understand
their why.
Why do you spend so many hoursin front of your computer, on
your phone every week?
Why do you stay up late and getup super early, just so you can

(01:47):
work on your personal andprofessional growth as well as
growing your business?
Or how about those dreamprojects that you've been
working on for some time thatyou know that you can only do at
certain hours of the day?
The why is what ultimatelydrives us to success, but here's
the thing it's different foreveryone.
Your why is not my why, and mywhy is not your why.

(02:09):
It's a deeply personal choicethat can have great meaning or
not right, depending on whowe're talking about.
So what is my why?
You see, my why was the freedomand flexibility to be able to
live my life on my own terms.
My why was to be able to takeoff when I want to, to spend

(02:31):
more time with my family and towalk in my purpose in order to
do the things that I was calledto do.
And this is exactly why Icreated this podcast to be able
to share my experiences with youas an entrepreneur, but also
bring in some guest speakers.
To be able to share myexperiences with you as an
entrepreneur, but also bring insome guest speakers that are
able to share their heart andshare their story with you
People that are just like youhow they've been able to

(02:54):
overcome challenges and maximizetheir day so that they're able
to spend their time doing thethings that they love, just like
you.
But don't think for a minute.
They haven't faced challengesand they haven't been
overwhelmed.
The point is, everyone hassomething to share and everyone
can learn from someone else.

(03:16):
So the purpose of this podcastis to be able to share those
experiences, to help youmaximize your day, keep you
motivated and focused on doingthe things that you love.
Why?
Well, you tell me what's yourbig?
Why?
It might be that freedom totravel, the option to spend time
with your family, the abilityto take weeks off at a time

(03:38):
Trust me, I know how importantthat is.
How about if you need to takecare of a sick family member, or
even to earn enough money tosupport a charity that's just so
close to your heart?
What is your why?
I want to share an experiencethat I had with my coach about a
year ago.
I knew that morning that I wokeup, that my mindset was just

(04:01):
off, and, while I didn't meetwith her until about 10 am, she
also noticed that my mindset wasoff and she did an activity
with me that she learned at aDean Graciosi event where he
talks about the seven levelsdeep.
She asked me two simplequestions.

(04:22):
And what that did was it helpedme bring it back to my why?
It helped me bring it back tounderstand why it all started,
why it's important to me, whyit's important to my family.
She reminded me that the thingsthat happen, they happen for us
, not to us, and I know it'skind of cliche what they say

(04:48):
life is 20% of what happens and80% on how you react to it.
Trust me, a lot of times it's alot more than that, but it
truly made me realize theimportance of knowing my why and
holding onto it.
And when you're starting to feellike you're not aligned with
your goals, or when you'removing in a different direction

(05:12):
but it doesn't align with yourwhy, pause, take a moment,
journal, think and ask yourselfsome questions Is this aligned
with my why?
You know I decided to sharewhat those two questions were
because they might be helpful toyou.
Now, if you're able to grab apen and paper, go for it.

(05:34):
Just pause this podcast righthere and just grab it.
If you're driving, just listenin, make a mental note and try
to process this as you'relistening to the questions.
So there's only two questions.
One of them is super simplewhat is it that you want to do?
It could be different thingsfor different people.

(05:56):
We've talked about this before, that your why could be
something different thansomebody else's why.
But what is it?
What is it that you want to do?
Do you want to become debt free?
Do you want freedom,flexibility?
Do you want to be able totravel more?
Do you want to be able to get abigger home for your family?

(06:18):
Do you want to spend more timewith your kids?
What is it?
What is it that you want to do?
And the second question issuper simple why is it important
to you?
So answer that question.
You know what you want to doit's become debt free.

(06:40):
So then, why is that importantto you?
What can that provide you andyour family?
What would that picture looklike?
Why do you think that thepeople that you love could
benefit from this as well?
And if you're not satisfiedwith the answer, dig deeper.
Why is this important to you?

(07:02):
Did you pick travel?
Why is travel important to you?
Did you pick travel?
Why is travel important to you?
Because you want to experiencethe world.
Is it by yourself?
Is it with your family?
Visualize what does that looklike and dig deeper.
If you need to ask yourself thisquestion, why?
Go seven levels deep, like DeanGraciosi says, until you get to

(07:27):
the bottom line and you realizethat your why, your why should
make you want to cry, and Ipromise you that your why won't
let you sleep at night.
Whatever it is that your why is, just know that it's the
driving force behind everyaction that you take.
And when you're decidingwhether or not to take on a new

(07:49):
task, ask yourself is thisaligned with my why?
When you're setting goals forthe year, ask yourself are these
goals moving you closer orfurther from your big why?
Thinking about branching outinto a new business venture,
make sure it's in alignment withyour why, and success is

(08:11):
suddenly much more attainable.
So what's your why?
