María Alejandra Linares Trelles es una arquitecta y académica peruana que trabaja entre Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. Su trabajo examina las dinámicas sociopolíticas que configuran el entorno construido a través de una práctica diversa que abarca el diseño, la investigación y las prácticas curatoriales.
Ha enseñado estudios y seminarios en universidades de EE. UU., Perú y Chile, incluidas The New School-Parsons, Pratt Institute, la Universidad de Columbia, la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) y la Universidad Andrés Bello.
En 2016, fue parte del equipo de diseño del nuevo Centro de Visitantes de Machu Picchu. Además, ha trabajado como arquitecta en Andres Jaque/Office for Political Innovation, Studio FIERRO y Llonazamora y como investigadora y curadora en The Buell Center de la Universidad de Columbia y en el Archivo de Arquitectura PUCP en Lima.
Actualmente, es profesora de The New School-Parsons y la Universidad de Columbia y es una de las 2024 IDEAS Fellows por la Sociedad de Historiadores de la Arquitectura (SAH). Tiene un título en arquitectura de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú y una Maestría en Prácticas Críticas, Curatoriales y Conceptuales de la Universidad de Columbia.
Su trabajo ha sido publicado en The Avery Review, la revista Planur-e, Tropical Papers y el libro “Expansions” de la Bienal de Venecia de 2021.
Mariale y Andrea conversan sobre el rol del arquitecto fuera del papel de diseñador o proyectista. Ellas indagan sobre el trabajo investigativo, las formas en que el arquitecto tiene una responsabilidad de servicio a la comunidad, y las muchas formas en que se pueden aprovechar las habilidades espaciales de los arquitectos en el desarrollo de la ciudad.
