if you've listened to it on thispodcast. Jacob was murdered nearly thirty four
years ago on April tenth, nineteeneighty seven, and he has not had
(00:20):

for your help. I need yourhelp signing the petition that's linked in the

in New Mexico. His name isClint Welburn and he can reach him at

email him at CWELLB O r Nat DA dot State dot NM dot us.
Let him know that you would liketo see Jacob's case reopened and his
killer brought to justice. A templateis also available on the True Consequences Facebook

and I hope that you are inspiredto sign the petition, to share
and to reach out to the DistrictAttorney and ask him to reopen Jacob's case.
All of this is going to helpput the pressure on the DA that
(01:26):
is needed to get him to act. So once again, I am so
grateful for you. Thank you forlistening to Jacob's story, and thank you
for fighting for justice. Until nexttime, stay safe. Why don't we
start with you telling me about Jacobwhat you remember about him. I just
(01:47):
remember he was funny, and heliked to love, and they like to
put yours and make old silverware flyout. And I think it's just a
silly boy. It's really like forbeing a baby. It was so smart.
It was like ridiculous. There wasa little lady that lived in the
(02:12):
apartment. Really I don't know ifyou remember, but we would take a
walk every day and we would pray, you know, forgot to help us,
to feed us, and we wouldtake a walk around apartment complex.
By the time we got there wasa food on the doorstep. Every time.
(02:35):
She would plus this little plus her, you use her to plus this.
Yeah, we got everything. Everythingyou wanted was in the bag all
the way down to the beef room. Everything we needed was in that bag
and got to put her there. She was our angel. She really helped
(02:58):
a lot. I don't know ifhe heard a prayer or I don't know.
She just came out of nowhere.I know there was that one lady
to put food on our door.He weaseled his way into my life,
basically because it was a con.He tell me lies about what they weren't
(03:19):
lies, but he would tell me, you know, stuff to make me
question your dad. You know, like he's calling so and so behind your
back and this and that, andI look at the phone bill and sure
enough, you know it's on there. But I didn't know he was using
it to try to get me awayfrom him. He was a pro at
(03:40):
making itself look good and making peoplefeel comfortable around him. Shortly after things
started happening to Jacob, it waslike stuff, weird, stuff would happen,
Like there was sunflower seed shells inhis bed, in his crib.
(04:00):
You know, he was getting hurtall of a sudden for unexplainable reasons.
That wasn't it. He was terrified, he was scared, he was holding
on he wouldn't want to let mego, and I didn't understand why at
all. It was just a nightmare, you know, Yeah, And I
(04:26):
didn't know what was happening. Ihad a job Supermart, and you were
gone and everything. You know,he had an operation on his head before
you left, and I wanted tomake sure you weren't blamed. What it
would happen. And so I wasat work and my mom called me about
(04:49):
an hour before I was going toget out, and she said, I
want to go to church. Whatdo I do with the baby? Or
do I take him? And Ididn't know to do. There's no cell
phones, there's no whatever. Allmy family worked. And I said,
I guess take him too. Myboyfriend he was then he was my boyfriend,
(05:11):
take him to him. I said, it's only an hour before I
get out. What can happen inan hour? My exact words. I
have ever regret those words. Andduring that hour I felt so uneasy.
I never told this to anybody. And I was begging, begging my manager,
(05:31):
please please let me go home. It's not busy, you don't need
me here. He just laugh atme and say, no, go do
this, go do that. Andso I just made myself pray, say
you have to stay, and Ijust made myself work and I got a
little bit busy. So it's checkingout a customer. I heard the compulence
(05:59):
as by at that moment here runin the store. He said, Jacobs
in the ambulance. I don't knowwhat happened. I said, what do
you mean? Jacob said the ambulance, and he just he said, we
gotta go, we gotta go,and I just ran out of the store.
I left the customer there. Idon't know what happened. I just
(06:21):
left. If you see the science, if your baby's scared after holding on
to you, they don't want tolet go. Something's wrong. Pay attention
to those science. Don't leave yourbabies with your boyfriends. They might be
good coin artists. And oh,I'll watch him. I'll watch him.
(06:42):
Don't do that gold You're good.You know. I felt it and I
couldn't do nothing about it because Iwas stock at work. But I knew
something was wrong, and look whathappened. And I didn't pay attention to
the science because I didn't believe it. Because I'm on him. I went
to church with him, I wentto school with him. I thought I
(07:03):
knew this person, and I didn'tat all. M m m
