first photos of thedeco-informed Apple Miami World

Center, the first Apple storewith extensive use of Mass
Timber Construction, whichopened just recently, on a
Friday.
Designed by Apple's in-houseteam, the Apple Miami World
Center occupies a standalonepavilion that continues the
aesthetic of the previous Applestores, while nodding to the Art
Deco architecture of Miami, thebuilding was inspired by softer

, undulating surfaces and thearticulation of the local Art
Deco architecture to create alighter, more dynamic result.
According to the Apple retaildesign, bj Siegel, which talked
to design In designing the AppleMiami World Center, they paid
particular attention to play onthe light and the shadow of all
surfaces in the pavilion.

operating in Maui for over 60years.

opened a permanent office inMaui and can better support

and construction services withinthe aviation, hospitality,

And the US Army continues totest mass timber cross-laminated
timber shelters and has nowtested a facility that can

withstand a one in 250 yearearthquake.
You may recall we originallyspoke about this testing back in
november 2024, while the armyhas now looked at using
thermally modified coastalwestern hemlock as part of their
seismic testing regime, and thereport says that this shelter

withstood the shaking of a verysignificant earthquake.

testing by the us army engineerresearch and development center,
in conjunction with a whole lotof other people that are
associated with the project,said the 600 foot shelter marks
the first assembled CLT whatthey call a bee hut shelter,

designed to house troops intemporary or semi-permanent
cases, and the testing wentextremely well for the bee hut.

multi-story oval car park inGermany.
The prefabricated CLT ceilingswith glue laminated supports the
on-site stand of a traditionalconcrete and steel garage and
has been replaced with a masstimber version.
The north face is clad withsoundproof glass to shield noise

from the neighboringresidential areas On the south
side of the ground.
It's landscaped beautifully,with 350 column free parking
spaces, storage facilities for150 bikes, a green roof,
photovoltaic system generatingrenewable energy for 20 electric
cars, 20 electric e-bikes.
