Matt (01:11):
That's right, and just in case you need a little refresher
for the rules for Think orDrink.
Think or Drink is our classictrivia game where players start
with six points.
The last person with pointsremaining wins Correct answers.
Let you choose someone to losea point and drink, while
incorrect answers will cause youto lose a point and drink.
For difficult questions, youhave two options.
First, you can make it a doubleto get help from someone else

(01:34):
If your collective answer iscorrect.
You can choose individually togain a point or to make somebody
else drink and lose a point.
If you're wrong, both of youlose a point and drink.
Or you can put it on their tabby selecting someone to answer
for you.
If they're right, you lose apoint and drink.
If they're wrong, you gain apoint.
Make sure to balance potentialrisk and reward when you put it

(01:58):
on their tab.
All right, and the topic fortoday's Think or Drink is music
trivia.

Rob (02:03):
Music, trivia Music trivia, music trivia.
Yeah, and I do believe you hadinformed us that we are going to
buck the rules a little bittoday and start with eight
points.

Matt (02:12):
We are going to start with eight points today.
This is also very.
The last time we did musictrivia, we were really all over
the place.

It was free verse.
We're out of practice.

Matt (02:56):
We are going to focus in a little bit for this trivia Well
, we trivia Well we're going toattempt the best that we can.
The topic is focused.
Our focus we're looking at 80s,90s and 2000s music Musica, yes
, okay, so we're going to tellyou a little bit about our

(03:16):
musical backgrounds and why.
I was super nervous puttingthese questions together for
four people that know a hell ofa lot about music overall.
Chris, why don't you go first?

Chris (03:24):
Sure, I've been playing music since third grade.
I'm a percussionist primarilyand I do a little bit of
teaching on the side fordrumline at some local high
schools.
And I'm also a vocalist as well, so I can carry a tune, just
ever so slightly.
You'd be singing that bass.

Siobhan (03:42):
Admitting to that I love it.

Matt (03:44):
Yeah, I was going to say, and a voice like an angel too.

Rob (03:47):
Just in case you didn't.

Matt (03:48):
Smooth like butter.

Siobhan (03:49):
Yeah, sure.

Rob (03:50):
This is Rob.
I've been also playing musicsince the third grade.
I've dabbled in many differentinstruments over my lifetime,
but primarily grew up playingsaxophone, then bought my first
guitar at the ripe tender age of14 and started playing in bands
with this knucklehead host ofours.
Yeah, that's a thing thathappened, yeah.

(04:11):
So uh, play guitar, play alittle bit of drums, uh, and I
enjoy singing currently in anacoustic duo called the
reconnect.

Matt (04:17):
So uh, check us out on the internet if you'd like didn't
you recently acquire somebody toplay percussion, kind of
part-time-ish as well?
Oh, yes, yes.

Rob (04:26):
I mean, that hasn't been publicized yet, but I guess
we're going to put it out intothe world.
It's live now.
Matt Welser, there you goPercussioning.

Andy (04:33):
Yeah, so I'm an instrumental music teacher in
the public school system aroundhere and I'm also a military
musician as well.
Musician as well.

Matt (04:46):
I'm more on the classical and jazz side, but come from a
very music loving family as well.

Andy (04:49):
So, yeah, cheers and thank you for your service, sir.

Siobhan (04:50):
Yes, sir, cheers to that, and I have been singing
since I was very young, but I'vebeen taking vocal lessons since
the sixth grade, took a littlebit of a hiatus and then I now
have been studying again voicelessons since 2019.
Do only singing.
I did one year of instrumentalmusic when I was in the marching

(05:11):
band and the concert band atGettysburg College for my senior
year of college the mostexcited senior in the band and,
yeah, did aux percussion, because what the hell else was I
going to do?
I wasn't going to learn to playclarinet.
So, yeah, good times.

Andy (05:23):
It's never too late.

Siobhan (05:24):
Yeah, I mean it was for me, that's for sure.

Andy (05:27):
I was not about to do that .

Siobhan (05:28):
But yeah, mostly singing Good times.
Sing with a couple choralgroups in the area Loving it
Good stuff.

Matt (05:35):
And this is your host, Matt.
I've been playing drums sincefourth grade, so 10 years old.
I was a marching percussionteacher for 17-ish years a
little on and off, but 17 yearstotal.
A little bit of a hiatusretirement right now from that,
but still enjoy playingpercussion.
Listening to music and musichas just always been a big part

(05:58):
of my life.
Growing up with my parents, music was always on in the house
.
Everything we did in the cartrips, everything like that,
there was always a soundtrackplaying and I just, I,
absolutely love music.
It's one of the things in lifethat good day, bad day, can turn
it on.
It calms me down and I'm justin an instantly better mood when
there's music playing goodstuff indeed, speaking of good
stuff, should we sip this badstuff?

Rob (06:17):
no, no, I don't want to start with that.
Oh, we're starting.

Matt (06:20):
I think we gotta?

Andy (06:21):
no, we're starting I think we gotta start with this and
build up from here.

Siobhan (06:24):
Oh my God, it can only get better, I assume.
Oh yeah, got it.

Rob (06:27):
So our fearless leader, as per usual, has found the most
heinous potential drink for us.
Where?

Andy (06:35):

Rob (06:36):
It is called in a giant like the supermarket.

Matt (06:39):
It was on an end cap and they were two for $7.

Like from when you were a kidDiamond Tap or whatever.
Oh my God, matt's dying already.

Matt (06:55):
I just need to get that out.
All right, don't worry, in asecond you won't be coughing it
off.

Rob (07:00):
It's called Beat Box.
It's in like a fun littlecardboard container, like an
adult juice box.
It's 11.1% alcohol by volume.
And this is a fruit punchflavored malt beverage Contains

the theme Smells like coughmedicine.

Matt (07:35):

Siobhan (07:36):
There we go, cheers, cheers.
I'm scared.

Matt (07:39):

Rob (07:41):
You know what?

Matt (07:42):
It's not as bad as it smells, but it's not as bad as
it smells.
It's not good though.

Andy (07:48):
I'm not going to seek out a sponsorship here.

Siobhan (07:50):
What Flavorless you had coldness.

Rob (07:53):
No, it just dies at the end .

Andy (07:54):
It's not as flavorful as I was expecting, but it does have
that children's Tylenolaftertaste.

Siobhan (07:59):
It really does have an aftertaste.
It's still there.

Andy (08:02):
Like that specific children's Tylenol aftertaste
you all know what it is Like mymouth sounds.

Siobhan (08:06):
No, no, it makes me uncomfortable.

Rob (08:08):
Yes, it's not what the ladies usually say about my
mouth sounds.

Siobhan (08:11):
Well, it's what this lady is saying.
So just so you know.

Matt (08:14):

Yeah, shut down Cough syrup.

Siobhan (08:18):
Probably better that way.

Andy (08:19):

Siobhan (09:31):
Yes, quite, let's play some trivia, yeah.

Matt (09:34):
Chris, you're going first, all right.
Okay, all right.
So here we go, we're going tohop all over the place.
By the way, we're not going tostay consistently in one decade.
We're gonna oh good, we'regoing all over the place.
Board, let's go, chris.
What was the first music videoever played on mtv when the
channel launched august 1, 1981?
Was it video killed?
The radio star material girl bymadonna?

(09:56):
Bohemian rhapsody by queen orsweet child of mine by guns and
roses you killed the radio.
That is correct, I want my MTV.

Chris (10:06):
Yes yeah, who's drinking?
Oh, clearly Siobhan needs adrink.

Siobhan (10:10):
Okay rude.

Rob (10:12):
Which way are we going?

Matt (10:13):
We're going to go Rob next .
Okay, we'll continue this way, let's do it.
At the beginning of the decade, acdc suffered a tragic loss of
their lead singer.
Name the singer and the personthat replaced him.
Was it Jeff Scott and BrianHobbs, scott Wilson and Brian
Johnson, bon Scott and BrianJohnson or Steve Lewis and Axl

(10:34):
Rose?
I think it's B.
Can you give me B and C again?
Sorry, sure, b was Scott Wilsonand Brian Johnson.
C was Bon Scott and BrianJohnson.

Rob (10:43):
I know Brian Johnson's the new singer, but I don't remember
the old singer's name.
So I'm between Bon Scott andwhat was B's.
Scott Wilson Sounds like aBeach Boy.
I'm going C, c is correct yes.
Okay, hey, chris, take a niceFloridian drink there, my friend

(11:06):
.

Matt (11:07):
Boo.

Rob (11:09):
He's very excited.

Matt (11:10):
Yep.

Rob (11:11):
Cheers buddy, I don't see an umbrella in that.
We miss you in the room.

Siobhan (11:15):
I know, yeah, we need like a tiki drink from Florida.

Matt (11:18):
So Bon Scott died tragically after drinking too
much after a concert, and thefirst album that they did with
Brian Johnson was Back in Black.

Siobhan (11:27):
Oh dang.

Matt (11:28):
There you go.

Siobhan (11:29):
Well, kids, that's why we have a safety warning on
these podcasts.

Matt (11:34):
Remember how I said we were going to skip decades.
We're staying in the 80s forthe next two questions.
We stayed there Throwing allthe rules out.
All right, andy.
Yeah, madonna, who is currentlyon her celebration tour, got
her start in the 80s.
In 1989, she released an albumwith hits like Material Girl and
Into the Groove, the third song.
Can we pause?
How is that word pronounced?

Siobhan (11:53):
She released a what.

Matt (11:55):
Celebration.

Siobhan (11:55):
No, what did she release?

Matt (11:57):
An album.

Siobhan (11:58):
An album.

Matt (12:00):
Album it's album.

Siobhan (12:10):
Album, album.
It's album album, are you?

Matt (12:11):
okay, are you okay?
Do you smell burning album?
Why are you all so mean?
I can't believe.

Siobhan (12:18):
You then said it wrong two more times.

Rob (12:21):
Well, because that's how he says it well.
Well, that was the first timeyou and I looked at each other
and were like did he justpronounce?
That, and then I just looked athim.
I thought he stumbled over itthe first time that he said it.

Matt (12:30):
That's what I thought.

Siobhan (12:31):
And we were like whatever, oh man, this is going
to be a good time tonight, Finefuckers.

Matt (12:35):
We'll read the question Album.

Siobhan (12:38):
Album.

Matt (12:39):
Okay.

Andy (12:39):
Andy, andy, yes, what album are we talking?

Matt (12:42):
about.

Rob (12:49):
Question three.

Matt (12:53):
Buckle in folks, it's going to be a long, long day,
andy.
Yes, madonna, who's currentlyon her celebration tour, got her
start in the 80s.
True, in 89, she released analbum with hits like Material
Girl and Into the Groove Proudof you, man.
The third hit song from thealbum was also the name of the
album.
What was the name of the album?
I didn't realize that word cameup like that.

Siobhan (13:16):
Well, thank God, we got ahead of this.

Matt (13:18):
It got intense in a hurry, so okay was the title of the
record.
Dress you up like a virgin.

Andy (13:27):
Papa don't preach, or angel I'm going with papa don't
preach, mostly because that's myfavorite madonna song oh, it's
a good one uh, like a virgin, you're drinking for the very
first time.

Matt (13:40):
Unfortunately, it was like a virgin that was.

Rob (13:43):
That was a great little, uh little like touche there yeah
so shout out to the fish forthat festion.
He helped me create someatheist questions festion sounds
like something you need to getchecked by a doctor.
No, they find them during acolonoscopy profession yeah, uh

(14:04):
not really, but maybe okay allright or maybe not a fission.

Siobhan (14:10):
That's what I think he meant to say.

Matt (14:11):
Yeah siobhan yes guns and roses first album came out in
1987.
It was called appetite fordestruction.
What is the name of their firstsingle from that album?
Was it welcome to the jungle, patience, paradiseience,
paradise City or Sweet Child ofMine?

Rob (14:28):
I have no idea.
That is a really tough question.

Matt (14:31):
That is a really rough question.

Siobhan (14:33):
Yes, Thanks, great, I'll just go, because I have no
idea I'm going.
Welcome to the Jungle.

Rob (14:41):
That probably is wrong, because I think it's sweet child
of mine.
Well, great, they were both onapple type for destruction, but
I don't know which one came outfirst as a single Now if I were
you, I would make him drink, cause you are correct, it is.

Siobhan (14:56):
Oh, suck it Awesome.

Rob (14:58):
Yep, no, that's.
That's why that question to mewas so hard, because, like both
of those songs were both singlesoff that album, I have no idea.
I didn't know which one cameout before.

Matt (15:05):
So Welcome to the Jungle was 87, Sweet Child of Mine.
88, Paradise City 1989.

Siobhan (15:11):
There you go, hooray.

Rob (15:14):
Yeah, you can hear it, Rob because you took a shit on me,
and you know what that makes usall tied at seven.

Siobhan (15:20):
Hooray.

Matt (15:21):
Alright, folks, we're going to remix it a little bit
and we're going to round tofinish the lyric.
I'm going to try to read thesewith no musical inflection,
which is going to be hard ashell.

Rob (15:31):
Okay, are any of them from albums?

Siobhan (15:33):
Or records.

Rob (15:34):
Perhaps discs.

Siobhan (15:37):
Being a dick to the host EP.

Rob (15:40):
Okay, you know what?

Matt (15:42):
Hit me with some more of that beatbox while we're here.
I'll just drink it, I'll Okay.
Well, you know what?
Hit me with some more of thatmeat box while we're here.
Dude, ew, I'll just drink it.
I'll just do it.
It's not that bad.

Rob (15:48):
It's fine.
I'm really scared.
Before you get to my question,I'm going to open the BrewDog
Elvis juice, all right, which Ibelieve is what Priscilla used
to call it, hey.

Siobhan (15:57):
Ho Couldn't get enough.

Matt (15:58):
It IPA.
Wait and hear.

Siobhan (16:01):
Rob's take on it.

Matt (16:02):
I'll get there after I finish this red stuff.

Rob (16:06):
It's good.
Yeah, it's good.
I would drink that mowing mylawn.
It's a lawnmower.
Yeah, it's a nice summery beer, very light and citrusy, nice.

Matt (16:17):
I believe it's a Chris.
Chris, finish that lyric.
Come break me down, bury me,bury me.
Say it one more time Come breakme down, bury me, bury me.

Chris (16:29):
Not wake me up inside, is it?

Matt (16:31):
It is not so.
It's the kill, 30 seconds fromMars.
I am finished with you.

Rob (16:36):
Yes, Yep Nope.
30 seconds to Mars, jared Leto.

Matt (16:41):
Yeah, I never knew that until I was looking up the
questions for this, I did notrealize he was the lead singer
of 30 Seconds of Mars.
Yes, and his brother is thedrummer.
Well, now I'm just learningthings all over the place.
I was today years old when Ilearned these things, yeah.
All right, Chris.
Rob.
Yes, so you're actually givingme the first part of this lyric,
okay.

Rob (17:06):
The back half is here.
We are now.
Entertain us.
Oh God, With the lights out,it's less dangerous.

Matt (17:09):
I am very impressed because I knew that song for
years and I had no idea that wasactually it.

Rob (17:14):
Smells like teen spirit yeah.

Siobhan (17:16):
Yes, it is.

Rob (17:17):

Matt (18:01):
I've got to leave.

Rob (18:05):
Is it Billy Joel?
I don't know the lyric, I'mjust asking who it is.
It is not Billy Joel.

Chris (18:09):
I'm going to get it wrong .

Rob (18:11):
So he made a very successful punt.

Matt (18:13):
All right, you want it one more time or no?
No, here I am.
Rock you like a hurricane.

Rob (18:21):
Awesome.
Never listen to that song forlyrics, ever Awesome.

Siobhan (18:24):

And now the blue wheel is justspinning.

Matt (19:50):
I have 57 questions that I made for this Jesus.

Rob (19:53):
Christ, and if you ask them in order, then you don't have
to think about the next one thatyou're going to ask.

Matt (19:58):
If I ask them in order, there's a good chance.
We never make it out of the 80s, so good, christ, why did you
hook?

Andy (20:04):
us up so bad.

Rob (20:06):
You use AI so much, why don't you put all your questions
into AI and randomly generatethem in different order?

Matt (20:11):
I didn't do that for this.

Rob (20:13):
No, but you've used AI in the past.

Matt (20:15):
It started lying to me.
I was getting a lot of wronganswers.

Rob (20:19):
The robots are not taking over.

Matt (20:21):
I asked it some very specific lyric questions.
It was like, Nope, that's notthe lyrics.
I'm like, oh, that's definitelythe lyrics.

Rob (20:27):
Well, all right.
Well, let's ask Chris aquestion.

Siobhan (20:30):
Right.

Matt (20:30):
What pop star wrote songs for Ariana Grande, miley Cyrus,
britney Spears and Alice Cooper?
Was it Taylor Swift, kesha, jessica Simpson or Lady Gaga
Wrote songs for Ariana Grande, miley Cyrus, britney Spears and
Alice Cooper?
This is a cool question.

Chris (20:55):
Man.
I could see any of these.
It's Alice Cooper that throwsit.

Siobhan (21:00):
Yeah, but Jessica Simpson ain't writing songs for
nobody.

Chris (21:04):
Yeah, that's obviously the least Chickens in the sea.

Siobhan (21:08):
Is there a chicken or fish?

Chris (21:09):
I'm going to go with the Lady Gaga.

Matt (21:12):
Ooh you are drinking.
It's actually Kesha.

Andy (21:15):
I knew Kesha did a lot of of writing, so that was my only
guess.

Siobhan (21:20):
She wrote what?

Chris (21:21):
did she write for alice cooper would have been an option
yeah, right for alice cooper.

Matt (21:26):
She wrote what baby wants.
She wrote time of our lives formiley cyrus.
This love for the veronicas andtill the world ends for britney
spears dang, I don't know anyof those.

Rob (21:36):
Yes, I know them.
Hit me rob.

Matt (21:38):

Siobhan (21:56):
Just tell him to spell it, I'm just going to try.

Matt (21:58):
Okay.

Rob (22:00):
A-G U I-L-L-E-R-A.

Matt (22:09):
You were one L away from perfection.
It's not double L.

Rob (22:13):
It's not double L, I know that she is of Hispanic descent,
so I thought that the double Lwas.
Aguilera.

Siobhan (22:20):
But that would be Aguilera.

Rob (22:22):
Aguilera.

Matt (22:23):
Aguilera, son of bitch, okay, well.
You know what?
That's fine, I will.
Oh, you were so close.

Rob (22:30):
I tried.

Matt (22:31):
Andy.
Yeah, which singer is godmotherto Elton John's two sons?
Is it Lady Gaga, Leona Lewis,Adele or Ellie Goulding?

Andy (22:43):
We're going to make this a double Alright, and I think I'm
going to double this withSiobhan.

Siobhan (22:50):
Oy Oy.

Matt (22:54):
Barking Make it a double.
That's Siobhan's favorite soundeffect, by the way.

Siobhan (22:58):
No, my favorite is the happy hour one.

Matt (23:02):
From.

Siobhan (23:02):
Top Shelf, but that was a good one.
Dang, I wish I I'm goingbetween Adele.

Andy (23:10):
And Gaga.
Maybe that's what I'm betweenas well.

Siobhan (23:15):
Leona Lewis is good, but I don't think that they're
that close.
I can't imagine it's Gaga.
I feel like it might be, but Idon't think that they're that
close.

Andy (23:24):
I can't imagine it's Gaga.
I feel like it might be.

Siobhan (23:25):
Adele, I don't know, but Gaga's got a lot of gay fans
, yeah, but like yeah.

Rob (23:32):
Did they do anything together?
No, Elton John likes men.

Matt (23:35):
Okay, you beat me there.

Siobhan (23:39):
Hey y'all up.
Well, if you are feeling Gaga, then let's go with it.

Andy (23:45):
We're going Gaga.

Matt (23:46):
Gaga is the correct answer .
High five.

Rob (23:48):
High five.

Matt (23:51):
Andy, you're going to take a point back, I'm assuming.

Rob (23:55):
Siobhan, would you also like to take a point back, or
would you like to take somebodydown?

Siobhan (23:58):
Am I at seven still?

Rob (23:59):
You are at seven Now, tied in the lead with Andy.
So you're aware.

Siobhan (24:06):
Oh man, why don't I take a point back?

Rob (24:10):
Okay.

Siobhan (24:10):
Instead of I don't know , Chris is at like four or
something sad.

Rob (24:13):
He is, he is.
We're all sad, but it's okay.

Matt (24:18):
He is we're all sad but it's okay, siobhan, it's me, yep
, it's.

Siobhan (24:20):
Siobhan.

Matt (24:20):
It's me.
What American rock band wasfounded as a one-person project
in Seattle in 1994?
Ooh, was it the Foo FightersSystem of a Down Bush or Train?

Siobhan (24:33):
What I don't know enough about System of a Down
other than how they yell a lot.
Wake up.

Rob (24:41):
Yeah, exactly.
Why don't you put on?

Matt (24:42):
a little makeup.

Siobhan (24:43):
I'm going to go with Bush, okay.

Matt (24:49):
So it's actually the Foo Fighters, the Fighters of Foo.
I've seen them live.
You saw the Foo Fighters live.
I have.

Siobhan (24:58):
That was very cool, that's very cool.
It was sick.

Matt (25:01):
So I love this little bit of trivia.
Of course, this happened whenNirvana disbanded after the
death of Kurt Cobain in 94.
Dave Grohl was rumored that hemight join Pearl Jam or Tom
Petty as their drummer, and helater said I was supposed to
join another band as a drummerfor the rest of my life and I
thought I'd rather do what noone expected me to do.
He created a solo album and heplayed and sang all the

(25:24):
instruments except on one track.
Out of the 15 songs on thealbum, he recorded them all in
five days.
Oh, and he actually said had Iactually considered this to be a
career, I probably would havecalled it something else,
because it's the stupidestfucking band name in the world.

Rob (25:38):
I love it.
I should have known that.
Yeah, I love it.
When Christopher Walkenintroduced them on SNL, he said
Foo Fighters.

Andy (25:48):
Well, apparently the story with that was he asked them how
it was supposed to bepronounced and to mess with him.
That's how they told him.

Rob (25:58):
Yeah F Grohl, Foo Fighters Amazing.

Matt (26:02):
Do you want to give us a rundown so we know where we are?

Rob (26:04):
Yes, Siobhan and Andy at seven holding the top spots.
I have six and Chris has fourWomp and also Andy's, the only
one to have used a lifeline.

Siobhan (26:18):
Oh no, no, he used both yeah.

Rob (26:22):
Andy has used both his lifelines.

Siobhan (26:24):
Indeed.

Rob (26:25):
Is what I meant to say.

Matt (26:27):
Chris, which emo band released the album Bleed
American in July 2001, which wasrenamed to the name of the band
due to the September 11thattacks.
Was it Taking Back Sunday BrandNew Dashboard, Confessional or
Jimmy Eat World, renamed to thename of the band due to the
september 11th attacks?
Was it taking back sunday brandnew dashboard, confessional or
jimmy eat world?

Chris (26:43):
they had to change an album.

Matt (26:46):
They had to change the album name because they released
it in july 2001.
It was called bleed americanand they changed it after 9-11
jimmy world that's correct.

Chris (26:58):
Yes, yes, yes yep, I mean I I know, like all the other
bands, albums, and I was likeI've never heard that before, so
it's gotta be the band I don'tknow well yep, that's the album
with the middle and sweetness onit.

Matt (27:10):
It was re-released and renamed to the original name in
2008 nice.

Chris (27:15):
Wow, that is really fun.

Andy (27:16):
Trivia do we just make a drinking game out of it every?

Rob (27:19):
time he says it wrong.
Yes, I'm going to take a sipevery time he says album.

Siobhan (27:23):
I'm doing that already.

Rob (27:25):
Christopher who's?

Chris (27:25):

friends of course, of course.

Rob (27:43):
And and if your best friends aren't going to give you

Andy (27:46):

Matt (27:53):
Yes, which of these fans did not release an album in the
90s?

Rob (27:57):
hang on.
I need to take a drink.

Matt (27:58):
Go on that's how I always said it.

Andy (28:04):
Oh, this is good it just means we're gonna get drunk,
it's all right I know we like it.

Siobhan (28:08):
I'm here for it.

Matt (28:08):
Go ahead, give me the options billy joel, blink 182,
nelly or jimmy eat world did notrelease in the 90s.

Matt (28:33):
River of Dreams came out in, I believe, 1993.

Rob (28:37):
Oh, but that was his last one until just recently, right
Yesterday.
Yeah, okay, wow, I was way tooconfident in that.
I thought, Nelly was like 99.
I thought he might have snuckin there.

Siobhan (28:48):
That's fair.
I would not have been sure ofthat Because I remember that in
like middle school, early highschool times.

Brosma and I asked him if hewould stop in for the podcast
for 10 minutes.
He never emailed me back, so Iwas a little upset about that.

Rob (29:58):
Is that a real thing?
Did you do that?
I did.

Andy (30:00):
You had me build up for half a second that something
fucking cool was about to happen.
And then what?

Rob (30:05):
happened was nothing.
It would also be great if theywere like, and he's with chris
now in the hotel, and here he is.

Andy (30:15):
So just creeps up behind chris with his arms pumping.

Matt (30:20):
No, I was legit.
I really just wanted him to dothat.
All I emailed him was like willyou pop in for five, ten
minutes?

Rob (30:25):
And just when I read this question, dude you could have
gotten your old college roommate, john Nilsen, to do a pretty B
interpretation of him, becausehe kind of looked like him.

Matt (30:35):
He did look a lot like him .
And also sounded exactly likethe Swedish chef.
Look like him.
Uh, he did.

Andy (30:39):
Look a lot like him and also sounded exactly like the
swedish chef.
So, john, if you happen to belistening.

Matt (30:42):
Shout out to you, man, fun facts about that one.
Oh, from 2004 to 2006, that wasestimated to have 700 million
views.

Andy (30:56):
Was that on Vine?
No, Vine was post-YouTube.

Good God, we have numbers.

Rob (31:25):
How do we get those views?
Are we talking about numbers?
Are we talking about math?
Math E equals MC Hammer.

Andy (31:33):
We talking about numbers Siobhan's question.

Rob (31:36):
Siobhan's question.
Siobhan talking about numbers.

Matt (31:38):
Siobhan's question.
Siobhan's question.
Siobhan, this band got theirname from the X-Files,

Chris (31:52):
I love this question.
This is a great question.

Siobhan (31:55):
Damn it.

Rob (32:04):
Frick.
Oh, I have lifelines, don't I?
Frick is not correct.
Um, you have both of yourlifelines at the moment.

Siobhan (32:07):
You can put it on those for like an 80s question,
because I feel like I'm gonnaknow less about that.

Matt (32:11):
Okay, um eve six that's correct hey, go with your gut
yeah, the episode title is eveand it's about genetically
modified people part of aeugenics experiment.

Rob (32:25):
I mean based upon their album artwork.
That would have been my guessas well, but third eye blind
would have been like a closesecond as far as like if I was
just guessing because, it kindof sounds like it sits there
who's drinking friend?

Siobhan (32:36):
Oh, um it's, Andy.

Rob (32:39):

.

Matt (33:41):
Thank you, you're welcome.

Chris (33:43):

Siobhan (33:48):
All right, Chris, what are you doing?

Chris (33:48):
All right, Robbo, I'm going to make it a double.
It's the Rembrandts.

Rob (33:52):
Is it the Rembrandts?
Yes, and we're both takingpoints back.
Thank you very much.

Siobhan (33:56):
Okay, well, I guess that's what you wanted to do,
chris.

Matt (33:59):
Very aggressive.
The Rembrandt's is correct Ishould have taken the risk.
Rob Whitney Houston had amassive hit in 1992 with a cover
of I Will Always Love you.

Andy (35:05):
Yeah, you're in a precarious situation Again.
My knowledge of jazz standardsis of no use here.
I'll be honest with you.

Rob (35:14):
This gives nothing away, because this is not one of the
options.
I would have thought it was aRun DMC song that they did with
Aerosmith with Walk.

Andy (35:18):
This Way, I would have thought it was a run DMC song
that they did with withAerosmith, with walk, this way,
that that would have been ifthey would have classified that
as hip hop and not as right, butthey probably.

Rob (35:25):
that was definitely barrier breaking.

Siobhan (35:27):
Um.

Andy (35:27):
Oh yeah, I can't imagine the Humpty Hump.

Siobhan (35:32):
The Humpty dance.

Andy (35:33):
The Humpty Hump.
As entertaining as it is, Ijust can't imagine.
I can't imagine it's Wu-TangClan.
That feels too late.
I know it feels wrong.
It feels wrong.
I'm going with Vanilla Ice.

Matt (35:46):
It feels wrong, but it is right.
It's so right I hate it.

Rob (35:50):
It's so right.
It feels wrong, but it is soright.

Siobhan (35:53):
Correct the fact that the first rap song in there is a
white man.
Yep, here we are, and it's noteven that good.

Rob (35:59):
No, it's clearly not a good song, and it's a ripoff of the
bass line of Under Pressure byQueen and.
David.

Andy (36:05):
Bowie, but there's an extra note in there.

Siobhan (36:07):
You know, Could not be more.

This is good, by the way, Can you?

Rob (39:06):
Marconi plays the Mamba.

Siobhan (39:08):
I love this song.

Matt (39:09):
I do too.
Listen to the radio, don't youremember Crap?

Rob (39:14):
I will put it on Siobhan's tab.

Siobhan (39:17):
No, put it on.
Oh, Chris would have known ittoo.
Bummer, that's okay, put it onyour tab.
Marconi plays the mamba.
Listen to the radio, don't youremember?
We built this?
City on rock and roll.
We built this city.

Rob (39:34):
Yeah, that's a good song.
So then I lose a point.
I shouldn't have punted it toyou.
I forgot to put it on your tab.
Is you don't want the person toanswer?
Because, because you answered,I should have put it on Andy's
tab.

Siobhan (39:45):
Bummer.
Well, I know, I know, that'shis whole point I said it just
because I knew it, but you don'thave to do it.
Listen to the radio.
Don't you remember?
It's really actually.

Rob (40:00):
It's very hard to finish these lyrics when he's just
speaking them because it's likethe tune doesn't automatically.
If he gave me the tune, I'dhave at least some footing, I
know.

Matt (40:08):
You have known me long enough to know that if I attempt
to give you the tune.
It won't be the tune, becausethen it gives it away.
But even if you gave us, likethe, but the rhythm of it, like
the pentameter of it all, when Ising, andy, there's uh
something your uh counterpart atwhere you work at the high
school.
One said to me that sticks withme and it's what is a half step

(40:29):
among friends that is my motto.

Andy (40:32):
When you like a bucket for that tune yes, quarter tones,
everybody, whoo, all right,great.

Siobhan (40:37):
Well, what does that mean?
You just lose a point.
I don't do anything except ownyour face.

Rob (40:41):
Okay, great, I mean okay, yes.

Siobhan (40:44):
I do.

Matt (40:44):
Are you ready?
I'm ready.
Andy rising up back on thestreet.
Did my time, took my chances, went the distance.
Now I'm back on my feet.
Something with the will tosurvive.

Rob (40:57):
Oh what is that something?

Siobhan (40:59):
What do you got?

Rob (40:59):
I'd be stuck there with you .

Siobhan (41:04):
We're going to get sprayed in the face with water.
If we were on the Jimmy Fallonsituation, where he asked people
to finish these.

Andy (41:08):
What am I after?
Went the distance.
Now I'm back on my feet Risingup with the will to survive.

Matt (41:16):
Oh, that's a good guess.

Siobhan (41:18):
Just a man and his will to survive it was just, but I
didn't know the rest of iteither just a man and his will
to survive it's the, it's thethrill of the fight.
You ready, yeah?

Matt (41:33):
siobhan under the bridge downtown is where I drew some
blood.
Under the bridge downtown.
I could not drew some bloodUnder the bridge downtown.
I could not get enough.

Siobhan (41:40):
I know what this is, but frick, Damn it, Anthony
Kiedis.
I mean let's go with under thebridge downtown again.
I threw my life away.

Matt (41:52):
Under the bridge downtown.
Forgot about my love.
Forgot about my love Then underthe bridge downtown.

Siobhan (41:59):
I threw my life away, so I missed one Bummer.
All right, Well, I'll take thatout.
Blood sugar, sex magic yes, indeed I had that album
memorized.
Guys, everyone front to backRHCP, another one I've seen in
person.
All right, jealous, veryjealous.

Rob (42:15):
Oh my God one I've seen in person Jealous, very jealous.

Siobhan (42:19):
Baller.

Andy (42:20):
It was when they was amazing.

Siobhan (42:21):
Maybe it was Californication.

Rob (42:24):
So, yes, yeah, because he was out of the band for a few
years and now I think he's backin it.

Siobhan (42:30):
Yeah, I saw them and Foo Fighters At the same show.
No, I did.
And then the other time I sawwas live and counting crows
together.
I saw live once.

Matt (42:40):
This will be fun, since we're kind of like part way
through first concert you everattended.
Oh, oh like first professionalyeah rock concert.

Andy (42:49):
Oh yeah, I know I can tell you, alanis morissette, I was
in eighth grade and it was ajagged little pill tour it was
very cool it was so cool.

Siobhan (42:57):
I saw it at the Meadows in Connecticut, which is in
like Hartford, and we had lawnseats but we all just stood near
the big screens.
It was sick.

Andy (43:07):
Very cool.
All right, I know everybodylistening to the podcast
currently thinks I'm a totalboomer.

Siobhan (43:11):
You're not a boomer, and this is going to confirm
that feeling, to confirm thatfeeling James Taylor.
That's great.
You saw fire and you saw rain.

Andy (43:20):
I saw fire and I saw rain.
That's awesome, that's prettyamazing Listen.

Rob (43:23):
Although I have very little recollection of this, I saw my
first concert was Ray Charles heplayed at Music Fest in either
the late 80s or very early 90s,nice.
But I was obsessed with RayCharles when I was a wee lad,
yeah.

Andy (43:40):
I have talked to other people who were at that concert
and said it was absolutelyinsane.

Rob (43:44):
That's unreal Cool, I don't really remember most of it, but
yeah, that was my first concert, rob, it's okay, he wouldn't
remember seeing you either.

Chris (43:52):
Oh my God, it's okay, don't cry, chris chris, oh god,
so technically, when I was likeone year old, my parents took me
to a beach boys concert, but Iobviously don't remember
anything as I was only one yearsold, so one of the first like
uh, it's not really rock,necessarily, but trans-siberian

(44:14):
orchestra is one of the earliestI was at.
So yeah, I'm going to hardcore.

Matt (44:21):
Drive the bus over both of us right now, because the first
concert I ever went to was atMusic Fest.
You, your mom, my mom and Amy.
Do you remember what show itwas?

Chris (44:34):
Was that the Savage Garden?
It was Savage Garden.

Siobhan (44:37):
There's a throwback.
I want to stay with you on amountain.

Andy (44:45):
I want to stay with you in the sea.

Matt (44:50):
When was that?
That was a long time ago.
The answer is 1907.
It was always the Cherry Colasong that stuck in my I need you
, I want you.
That was the oneth cut shit.
It was always the Cherry Colasong that stuck in my I need you
, I want you.

Andy (45:01):
That was the one I was singing.
I had literally forgotten aboutthat band completely.

Siobhan (45:06):
Yo, yeah, I listened to that Alright, Chris.

Rob (45:12):
Real quick recap.
I'm in lead with 6, Andy andChris with 5, Siobhan with 3.
Who Siobhan with three.
Who?
Siobhan is the only person whohas lifelines left.
She has both.
Everybody else has used theirlifelines.

Matt (45:25):
Really yes.

Rob (45:26):
Wow, yes, here we go.

Matt (45:28):
Chris, what was the name of the song and artist featured
in the first music video on MTVthat prominently featured

Was it Take On Me by A-Ha,money for Nothing by Dire
Straits, sledgehammer by PeterGabriel or Land of Confusion by
Genesis?

Chris (45:46):
Oh damn, once again.
These are all so plausible.

Siobhan (45:49):
Ooh, totally.
I was going to say this is hard.
I'm so glad nobody can puntanything to me anymore.

Chris (45:56):
I'm going to just go with Sledgehammer.

Matt (45:58):
So it's actually Money for Nothing was Dire.

Siobhan (46:00):
Straits.
Oh, I wouldn't have guessedthat.

Chris (46:03):
Yeah that was.

Matt (46:04):
Yep, Mainframe Entertainment was the company
behind that.
Oh my god.

Chris (46:09):
It's a good video.

Andy (46:11):
All of those are good videos.

Chris (46:12):
Yeah, yeah, all of them were.

Take on me is easily the best yeah.

Yeah, I'm assuming that's theanswer.
Yes, hooray, I did it.
I do love the look of defeat onmatt's face when someone gives
the answer before he.
Who's?
No sucker uh, chris okay I loveyou.

Rob (48:06):
I'm lower than you, all right.
All right, here we go, I'm, I'mcracking the beat box pink
lemonade, also 11.1, but thisone has avril lavigne, which I
don't know what that means.
It doesn't say in partnershipwith them.

Matt (48:23):
I will say this because it was before.

Rob (48:24):
I met my wife.

Matt (48:26):
And everybody can make fun of me for this, but when Rob
and I formed a band, my drivingfactor of wanting to be a famous
drummer was meeting AvrilLavigne.
So there, it is Fair enough.
Yep, how bad does it smell?

Rob (48:38):
It kind of smells like that crappy version of Zima that he
made a few weeks ago, hey Ididn't hate that.

Matt (48:47):
so to be fair, it's not because he made it, it's because
it was crappy.
I didn't see anybody elsemaking Zima.

Rob (48:50):
All right, while everybody is pouring the Avril.

Andy (48:53):
Lavigne.

Rob (48:53):
I'm not pouring any of that I just wanted to sniff.

Andy (48:55):
It doesn't smell that bad.

Rob (48:57):
I am currently in the lead with five.
Andy with four Chris andSiobhan tied at three.
Siobhan's still, with both ofher lifelines heading into this
next round.

Siobhan (49:08):
This doesn't smell bad.
Are we trying it?

Rob (49:11):
I'm trying it.
I'm in Cheers, it's got.

Matt (49:17):
Watch for the back end.
Watch for the back end.

Siobhan (49:19):
God the end of it is so bad, just like that one, it's
really not.
It's not as bad as the otherone, though.

Rob (49:25):
Okay, what is it about these beat boxes that make me
feel like the aftertaste is like?

Andy (49:29):
liquid wax.

Matt (49:31):
It's like drinking a candle.

Andy (49:33):
It's like we have MD I guarantee it's got whatever that
artificial sweetener is no like.

Siobhan (49:39):
Mad Dog MD.
Oh God, With like freaking FourLoko yes.

Matt (49:46):
Back to Chris.
I'll say if you're drinking ona budget, you could probably do
worse.

Rob (49:51):
But I mean, it's not the worst thing I've ever had.
No, for sure.

Matt (49:54):
Chris Queen's performance at Live Aid is legendary and
Freddie Mercury's performance isregarded as one of the best
live rock performances of alltime.
How many people were estimatedto have watched Live Aid on TV,
making it one of the mostwatched live performances in
history?
500 million, 900 million, 1.9billion or 2.4 billion?

(50:17):
Holy shit, that's a lot,regardless of the answer 900
million, 900 million, the answeris 1.9 billion people.

Chris (50:30):
Wow, cray cray, that's insane.

Matt (50:34):
Live Aid took place.

Siobhan (50:35):
There was nothing else to do.
What year was that?

Matt (50:37):
So it's a good question.
That's probably the only fact Idon't have right now.

Siobhan (50:41):
Oh my God, we're looking it up.

Rob (50:43):
Okay, hold on, we're going to get the year, because that is
a lot of people for as early asI think it may have been.

Siobhan (50:49):
Nineteen, eighty five yes.

Rob (50:51):
Yeah, that many people had televisions in nineteen eighty
five.

Siobhan (50:54):
Oh yeah, I'm sure that's true, but like I'm
surprised that that's all theywere watching, which is such a
product of now, where we haveway too many choices of what you
can be watching, right, yeah, well, I mean, that was also on
every available channel.
Right, it was such a huge deal.
Man, I miss that kind of stuff.

Matt (51:11):
So it was of course at Wembley Stadium and JFK.
72,000 people were at Wembley,90,000 at JFK in Philadelphia.
The estimated TV audience was1.9 billion.
The same day, concerts inspiredby that initiative were also
held in the Soviet Union, canada, japan, yugoslavia.

Siobhan (51:27):
Austria, australia and West Germany.
West Germany which isn't athing.

Rob (51:36):
Yeah, I imagine that kind of thing right now.
If you gave us that WestGermany fact, we could have
dated it somewhat well.

Matt (51:40):
Here's the part that blew my mind.
It was one of the largestsatellite linkups in history 150
nations and 40% of the worldpopulation Wow.

Siobhan (51:49):
That's crazy.

Matt (51:51):
That's epic.
That's really cool man yeahthat's historic.

Siobhan (51:53):
There's no great trivia I was just gonna say no one's
gonna do that again, not even achance, taylor.
Swift tries, but she's notgonna get there.
That's okay, she has $1.9billion but she doesn't have
that many viewers.

Rob (52:06):
Yeah, we watched the Eritrean tour the other day on
Disney Plus.

Siobhan (52:09):
Yeah, I kind of want to do that, I feel like just
because it's kind of iconic.
That's cool.

Andy (52:15):
I had free tickets to see her in Pittsburgh's football
stadium.
Fun fact, I've seen her performthe.

Siobhan (52:23):
National Anthem pre-fame at a Reading Phillies
game.
Oh yeah, she was all up in theRedding Phillies because she's
from the D-Town, she's from thatarea, nope.

Andy (52:32):
I saw Taylor Swift, and opening for her was Ed Sheeran
oh didn't they date?

Rob (52:40):
I don't think so.

Siobhan (52:42):
I just assume she dates anybody.

Rob (52:43):
I mean she might Including Travis Kelsey.
I mean that's happening rightnow.

Siobhan (52:49):
That's her current era, all righty.

Rob (52:51):
It's my turn it is.
Rob, tell me a question.

Matt (52:54):
The song Running Up that Hill by Kate Bush had a
resurgence in popularityfollowing its inclusion in the
fourth season of Stranger Things.
Yes, what year was Running Upthat Hill released as a single
by Kate Bush?

Rob (53:13):
1978, 1980, 1985, or 1990?
I'm going to go with the yearof our Lord, 1985, the year of
my birth, when people were notaverse to the Bush.

Matt (53:23):
Go on.
That is correct.

Siobhan (53:26):
Yay, good reasoning.

Matt (53:28):
We love that reasoning.
That's correct, yay, goodreasoning.

Rob (53:31):
We love that reasoning.
Thanks, playboy, that's good.
Sorry, andy, you're still tooclose to me for my comfort.

Siobhan (53:37):
Okay, I'm having more of this.
I know that's weird.

Matt (53:40):
So fun fact time In 85, it reached number three on the UK
singles chart.
In 2002, it reached number onein eight countries, including
the UK, after being featured inStranger Things.
So it actually made numberthree on the Hot 100 chart and
previously had only made it tonumber 30.
Wow, andy, before being offeredto Britney Spears and becoming

(54:07):
a mega hit.
Baby.
One More Time was offered towhich other artist or group
Willie Nelson.
I would listen to that.
Yeah, I would too, was it TLC.
Christina Aguilera, which Robtaught us how to spell earlier
NSYNC.
Or Mandy Moore.

Andy (54:26):
I'm going with Christina Aguilera.

Matt (54:30):
It was actually TLC.

Siobhan (54:33):
Oh dang, I would have guessed Mandy Moore.

Matt (54:34):
They turned it down because they were uncomfortable
with Hit Me interpreting it ashaving an association with
domestic violence.

Siobhan (54:40):
Fair enough, girl.
They just talked about a lot ofno scrubs.
Left eye it was also offered to.

Rob (54:46):
If you can picture this, the Backstreet Boys and a
british group called five ohinteresting yeah so manny moore
uh, believe it or not was alittle bit later than that, I
think, so I would have ruled herout right, I guess.
But and I would have ruled insync out, but but it's.
It's funny to hear that it wasoffered to backstreet Boys,
because I can't imagine a maleor NSYNC version of that song.

Siobhan (55:09):
Right yeah.

Matt (55:10):
I'm a little crazy, yeah, huh.

Siobhan (55:13):
All right.

Matt (55:14):
Good stuff, Matthew.

Siobhan (55:15):
Hit me one more time, siobhan, but not like that TLC.
Thank you.

Matt (55:21):
What holds the record for spending the most consecutive
weeks at number one on theBillboard Hot 100 charts in the
1990s.
I will always love you bywhitney houston, smooth by
santana and rob thomas.
One sweet day by mariah careyor the macarena oh my god, let's
go with mariah carey.
She had so many number ones sothat is correct 16 weeks at the

(55:48):
top of the chart.

Andy (55:49):
I listened to that shit so much I would have guessed the
Macarena.

Matt (55:53):
I think that was in there to left curve us.

Siobhan (55:56):
So, depending on your musical leanings.

Matt (55:59):
This fun fact will break your soul it was surpassed in
2019.
Does anybody know what songoffhand?

Siobhan (56:06):
Wait, the Mariah Carey song was surpassed in 2019?
.
Is it another Mariah Carey song?
Nope, taylor Swift.

Matt (56:12):
Nope.

Siobhan (56:13):
Rick.

Matt (56:15):
And I take my horse down Old Town Road, little Nas X.

Siobhan (56:21):
Little.

Matt (56:22):
Nas All right, he's cool.

Siobhan (56:24):
Oh look at that.
Who am I making drink?
Who's at the top.
It's me.
Yeah, you drank it.
Okay, Look at that who am Imaking?
Drink.
Who's at the top?
It's me Get it.

Matt (56:31):
Give us those points.

Rob (56:33):
I am still at the top with four.
Siobhan with three in secondplace, chris and Andy with two.
Siobhan still with both of herlifelines.
Nobody else has lifelines.
Alright, we're going to lyrics.
Oh, we're going back to lyricsHoly crap.
Everybody get ready to lose.

Matt (56:49):
Yeah, all right, chris as I walk through the of the shadow
of death, where I harvest mygrain exactly.

Siobhan (57:01):
We talked about this the other day.
I said we, I, we heard thebeginning of this song and I
said there's no way, I don'tthink of weird al, every single
time I hear the beginning ofthis song and I said there's no
way, I don't think of Weird Alevery single time I hear the
beginning of this song.

Matt (57:11):
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone.
Yeah, Chris.
As I walk through the valley ofthe shadow of death, I take a
look at my life and realizethere's nothing left.

Chris (57:21):
I don't know the original Get out of here, bummer.

Siobhan (57:24):
Can you sing the Weird Al?

Andy (57:25):
version.
Maybe we'll give that to you.
You know I shot in fancy thingslike electricity oh my God.

Chris (57:32):
Yeah, I don't know.

Matt (57:32):
Bummer, because I've been blasting and laughing so long
that even my mama thinks that mymind is gone.

Siobhan (57:37):
Oh, the mind is gone, yep.
Oh you got one kid.
I'm a man of the land.

Andy (57:42):
I'm in two discipline.
Oh my God, I love that.

Siobhan (57:48):
With a Bible.
I can't so that also withAmerican Pie.
There's no way I don't sing allthe my, my, this here Anakin
guy every time that I hear thatsong.
Yep, weird Al has invaded.

Rob (57:56):
I'm ready.

Matt (57:57):
You are.
I am.
This is going to be an awkwardopening.
I contemplate the day we wed.
Your friends are boring me todeath.
Your veil is ruined in the rainby then.
It's you I can do without.
There's nothing new to talkabout.

Rob (58:11):
Though our kids are blessed , our parents let them shoulder
all the blame.
That is correct.

Matt (58:16):
What's that?
That is the quiet things thatno one ever knows by brand new
Siobhan.

Siobhan (58:20):
Have a drink, oh, okay.

Rob (58:22):

It's okay.
It's okay.

Rob (59:17):
I wasn't even really that into it.

Andy (59:18):

Matt (59:44):
Siobhan.

Siobhan (59:45):
Yes.

Matt (59:47):
