Speaker 1 (00:10):
Let's talk a little bit about the room.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
A round up in the GM meetings, GM meetings around
all the GM's meeting where in Fuzzy Vegas holding arches.
The annual General General Manager Meetings have convened and there
are a lot of rumors flying. So first rumor I
want to talk about is mister Boba Schett free agent.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Is he going to play second base?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And our teams interested in him as the second or
third baseman. Now you may be wondering why not shortstop.
It is because for the second time in a row
he led the league. He was the worst defensive shorts
basement by short short baseman shortstop by a defensive run saved.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
In the American League. It happened again.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So and he showed in the World Series that he
has the athleticism to play second base.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
It's not an arm issue.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I think it just comes down to range and just
making the plays you're supposed to make, and he he
doesn't do a great job of that, So I think
they can they can handle that. And teams have been
connected to him possibly being a second baseman. Are the Dodgers,
the Mets.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
The Phillies, and the Giants.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Hey, there's one the Giants will Willy Damas. So these
guys all have really good shortstops.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Adding him. The guy can swing it.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I think that's not surprising. I believe he was second
in hits and he missed the last two weeks of
the season, which is crazy, so he could he could
be a huge pickup. Now how that changes his value,
I don't know. He's still twenty seven years old. He's
looking for a big deal, he's gonna get paid paid,
and the guy can fricking hit, So any team could
use him. But interesting how Boba Schett is being thrown

(01:51):
around here. Speaking of second Bason, the Arizona Diavybacks have
put out there that Ketel Marte might be might be
they might be motivated in moving him.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Now, this is a guy who I think is a sleeper.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
He's almost the Jose Ramirez of the n now for me,
like almost, not quite, but but almost. He's a very
productive player. He's always playing better than you think he's playing.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
And it's just Arizona.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Sometimes those guys get lost behind the other big boppers
in that division.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Uh but uh.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
The report comes after Martin the Dbacks went through a
little bit of a difficult difficult stretches last year after
he re extended with them going into the season, he
had that that horrible hand fack fan fanned heckling problem.
He had the high dollar like the he got his
his house got burglarized, a lot of issues, and then
I guess he kind of asked for days off a lot.

(02:45):
And he also just showed up late for coming back
from the Aul Star break and hanging out in the
Dominican in a couple extra days.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I don't know. I don't know what's going on with that,
So I.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Guess there was a little bit of a rift happening
in the clubhouse at the time. This is all edged,
but you know that's something that drives this motivation to
get rid of a guy a lot. So again, another
great like really really high quality bats.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Second basement that's available.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
That's two pretty like there's a lot of teams that
they could slot into really well. So it's gonna be
really interesting to see how their markets coalesce. Moving on,
let's talk about Kyle Tucker. Projected to make a whole
bunch of money. The Orioles have emerged as an under
the radar team for Kyle Tucker. Ken rosenshal Will Salmon

(03:29):
from The Athletic asked executives about it under the right thing,
and two of them said unrelated to each other, suggested
the Orioles for Tucker. Now, I think a fit wise, absolutely,
the Orioles should make some moves.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Offense didn't seem like.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Baltimore's biggest need, but the outfield did struggle. They need
to get pitching. We all know about that. But I
think it would fit into and he's a young guy.
He'd fit in with the young court. It's not like
he would be a veteran like he still fits in
the mold kind of. He could be part of that
crew long period of time that the timing might be
really good for that. I think he would thrive in
Baltimore as well. I would love to see him in

(04:05):
the AL. He's I really like this landing. Now he's
gonna be really expensive. He's projected to make the most
money in the playoffs, but or in the playoffs in
this last season or in the off seasons are in
free agency.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
But I like it.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I think it's good if they can do it. Now
do I think they're gonna do it now? I'm not
convinced that David Rubins signing their new owner, is any
better than the Angelos is at this point. Now, I
understand there was character flaws with the other people, but like,
he's shown me nothing that he's gonna do any he's
gonna take any chances, And this isn't anything other than
something in his portfolio.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That's all I'm saying. Now.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Is this a little bit of saltiness from his his
salary cap comment earlier in the year.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Probably?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Probably, But that just shows me where his head's at.
And that doesn't tell me he's gonna like get excited
about a player or that, like baseball, is he really
even his thing? But we'll see and then I'm a
big fan of Alias. I think he develops players really well.
But I just also think he's strung to pull the
trigger sometimes and if there's a bidding more, I just
don't see those two. I don't see those two hopping

(05:05):
on the horse and winning the race.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
I just don't. So I think it's a little bit
of a far fetch thing. But what do I know.
I'm just a guy.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
This episode of FT is brought to you by Square.
Your favorite neighborhood spots run on Square. Give me an
example in Pennsylvaniacrats.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Right down the street from my house, the tap House.
Not only is it an awesome place to hang out,
get your beers, get your drinks, whatever it is, but
you know what, the company has the simplicity of Square
and they give back to the community with ten percent
of all the proceeds that they bring in going back
to community projects.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
I love it. Sports and sports bars are so good
at bringing together local communities. And you can actually take
this ad as an excuse to go support your local
spot and have yourself a day or weekend in the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Okay, keep going. Royals are interested in trading for outfielders.
First reported by JP Morosi our Guy, the Royals are
value in the trademarket. Their outfield was terrible last year,
triple slashing combined at two twenty five to eighty five
on base and a three forty eight too many strikeouts,
too much going on. There are thirty seven home runs

(06:38):
as a group, was tied for the second fewest of
any team's outfielders, and they had a seventy three ones created.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Plus, which is terrible.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
So they need some bop and obviously they're looking to
the Red Sox, who might have some overflow with Sedan,
and Raphael has been thrown in there. I don't think
he's going anywhere. It would most more likely be a
Duran or a will You're a Brave Thing. But also
the Angels has been tied with Joe Adele and Taylor Ward.
It'd be interesting to see Taylor Ward. I don't know
if Joe Dell is the biggest.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Pick up there.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
I don't think he He he has more pop, but
he also strikes out a lot, which is also what
their problem is, so that might not be the greatest fit,
but we'll see. I think that if they could lay
one of the Red Sox, that would be a savvy move.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
I think the Royals do savvy moves quite often. And then.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
There were questions about Devin Williams and where he's gonna
end up this year after a being traded the Yankees
and having by all accounts a down year. Things didn't
go perfectly the way he wanted them to. And guess
who is the front runner for possibly landing Devin Williams.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
The loss Angelus don Sorry we talked about him so much.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
According to the Athletics, Fabian Daya sorry, Fabian Ardaia sorry
about that. The Dodgers looking at at least one leverage arm.
He's not going to command the money that that Tanner
Scott did, so you don't have to worry about that.
Probably though he will get a good a good solid deal.
They need a right handed guy. They do need relievers.
Like you know, I understand that the Scott didn't work

(08:09):
out this year, but like it's pretty clear they still
have to go. That's an area they need to address
if they want to keep being good and they're going
to do what they need. And Bile accounts that we
covered this earlier in the year, and I think it
ended with all this being true. Yes, he had a
four to seven to nine ERA on the year, but
his fifth was a two six' eight and his EXPECTED

(08:30):
ra was a three zero. Nine not as dominating as
he was In, milwaukee but again we went over the.
Defense Iss milwaukee's defense has always been a lead The yankees.
Hasn't that's probably most of what was going. On and
he finished strong and he threw all in the, playoffs
so we'll.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
See The dodgers.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Could be in For Devin, williams AND i like that
for The. DODGERS i think that that is a good.
Move he is one of the elite guys. Out BUT
i also think that he's.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
A little bit more.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Affordable or there might be like a bridge situation where
you can go one year opt, out opt out HIGHER
aav and a lot of flexibility both, ways so we
can either recoup or or opt. IN i think that's
a likely, scenario especially with The, dodgers who are probably
gonna go for everyone, else as we mentioned. Earlier, okay all,
right that is the rumor.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Recap that is what we have going on this.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Week next week we're gonna have another one Because i'm
sure there will be a bunch more stuff out and
we will cover the rest of those awards in that
show as.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
