Wycinanki z XVIII-wiecznych atlasów? Antoni Waga robił to w imię nauki.
W XIX wieku biblioteki, wypełnione obłędnie kolorowymi obrazami roślin i zwierząt, traktowano jako standardowe uzupełnienie gabinetów naturalnych.Kolekcjonerem okazów przyrodniczych i atlasów był polski uczony Antoni Waga, którego zbiór naturaliów liczył ponad dwa tysiące tytułów. Do rycin, przygotowanych przez niemieckiego malarza miniatur, przyrodnika i entomologa Augusta Johanna Rösela von Rosenhofa, stworzył wszystkie podpisy – uznał, że sam Rosenhof, żyjący sto lat wcześniej (XVIII w.), nie znał się wystarczająco dobrze na ich klasyfikacji. Waga wykonał więc kolaże, wycinając z oryginalnego albumu ryciny i układając je zgodnie z preferowanymi przez siebie systematykami.
