Dr. Gyaran Ibrahim Abubakar is a sports medicine doctor who has been the Nigerian Senior National Team doctor since 2010. He completed his medical school in Nigeria, and a master's in Science focused in Sports and Exercise Medicine and in business administration in the UK.
He shares medical schooling and treatment considerations in Nigeria, his decision to pursue further education in Europe and how that prepared him for his national team experiences. He also discusses the medical team preparation with the national team and FIFA leading up to a World Cup, how to manage conflict within club vs. national team, and the necessary skills to work at the highest level.
