(00:13):
Hello everybody and welcome to meals and wine.
I am Michael. And I am Susie, and
this is your pie cast for board game
reviews for couples with a drink in hand.
Yes. We are out on the patio
once again,
enjoying the lovely evening and
sa in the background and... Yeah. We finally
got some sa. Yeah. They finally showed up.
It was like,
(00:34):
everybody had them... They showed like, a week
couple weeks after everybody where it was done
with them. Yeah. So we got late Cases.
Yep. So... But, yeah, so we are out
on the patio, sampling wine, playing games and
delivering our
reviews unto you folks to discover,
what's a game you could play with your
Sweetie pie that won't wind up with the
(00:55):
ring being given back.
Or that it's, you know, boring it doesn't
work for 2 players. Yeah. That too. That's
So him, so we are Michael and Susie,
longtime gamers, long married.
Susan, if they wanna contact us, what are
they gonna call?
They can go on any of the socials,
(01:16):
or you can go directly to our email
at and wine at gmail dot. Com,
or you can go to our website, and
wine dot fun and leave us a voice
mail on our speak pipe link. Yep. And
that will be in the show notes also.
You just tap it and talk. It's pretty
cool.
So let's get into it. Susan suzanne, what
(01:37):
are we tasting today? What am I opening?
Today, you are opening a bottle of 3
rain,
never tame red blend.
Which we picked up at Aldi.
So the fun thing about Aldi and the
same thing with
this brother store, Trader Joe's. A lot of
(01:58):
times they all have products that
have been... Their secret.
Re labeled,
shall we say,
and we think this might be 1 of
them. Oh, I'm sure this is. Because we're
not sure what winery it's from. We can't
find it anywhere.
But it's called 3 rain at, you know,
(02:20):
like, rhymes with free, 3, the number 3
rain,
and it's got roman numeral 3 on it
with a horse.
Yep. And or reveal the reason we chose
this 1 in a moment. Those we like
horses. Mir glasses.
It smells good. Give me a glass. Oh,
You can't reach. There you go. Must to
(02:40):
give him the glass,
but we do know that this wine is
from the Columbia Valley of Washington
state.
Which is in the Us.
From the bottle, it says the profile description,
his fe and Oh, his foodie, this fruity
red blend leads with aroma of cherries and
ripe fruit,
(03:01):
followed by flare flavors of blackberry jam and
subtle oats.
Pair with tomato based pasta dishes, red meat
or pizza best served at room temperature.
As small red wines should be. Well,
most of them. I do smell a little
cherry slash blackberry on the
(03:21):
on the cork.
Actually, if you use your glass right there,
give it a very dark.
Yes. Dark dark and dark dark red
dark.
And
aroma wise.
(03:44):
Get a little tobacco on it. Yeah. Like
a little... Or maybe Woods.
Yeah. I can see that.
I think that
this... I feel like that comes with dark
wines.
The woods. It's dark. It's got that kind
of
not that it actually smells or tastes like
tobacco, but it's just got a little bit
of a smoky.
(04:04):
Yeah.
That sounds good. Alright. Tasty. Tasted.
Little drier than I expected to. Yeah.
For a blanket dry right away.
(04:26):
Definitely fruit, the, like berry.
Like a dark barriers like a cherry dark
cherries flavors. Mh.
Hold on there?
It is
Almost reminds me of a cherry coca cola.
Why do I get that?
I don't know... I mean, not that it
tastes like that, but...
(04:46):
Well, I, it's got that cherry flavor to
it. It definitely has a... Mh.
Deep redness to it. I mean, level of
them. Okay. I'll be interested to see how
this
after it's breathed for a little while hot.
Kinda lagging. Okay. What? Oh, we didn't ding.
There we go. Cli
(05:07):
That's what happens with stem.
Oh, Ab v, 13 and a half. I
was gonna say it's a little leg.
Got
gotta Have a little bit of punch. Mh.
Night. I mean, A I read out of
the gate. I like it. Yeah. I think
it was, like, what 8 bucks
9 bucks, I mean, yeah. With Aldi 1.
Aldi, but, I mean, Aldi has summer, some
(05:27):
stuff that's, you know, gets up into double
digits. But,
That's kit. We like to find the... I
think I mean, I
smaller. Yeah. This would be a good
beer pizza or not beer pizza, pizza, the
pizza and burgers wine. Yeah.
Like a daily driver. Mh. You know, you
don't wanna break open, you know, the Josh
20 19 or anything like that. You know
(05:49):
yeah. You, just wanna go glass of wine
to go with the pizza that just got
delivered. Mh.
I could really go for a piece pizza...
A movie night.
Little Netflix
And 3 rain
That's alright.
It's getting getting more
It's a little tart. A little bit tart
to it a little bit on the sides.
(06:10):
Not bad. No. But it's... It's heart like
a cherry tart. Yeah. Yeah. And along with
that cherry flavor in their cherry. Berry.
You'll have to excuse every now and then
Suzanne suzanne facing the Humming bird feeder, so
every now and then she gets all excited.
He was looking at us. So
Anyway. So that is 3 rain. Never tame
(06:31):
Red blend from Aldi
the information that we know.
I would say, you know, firm hasn't
opened up just yet, but I think for...
I'll be interested for the price. Might it
might get... Better after it's breathe a little
bit. Yeah. Not that it's bad now. It's
just...
No, needs a little bit of time. Mh.
Okay. Michael, what was the game that we
(06:51):
played this week? I picked up a game
I've been looking actually been looking at on
Amazon for a while, called 3000 sc.
It's
interesting board game has a cool mechanic with
transparent cards, which we've played this style we
played before.
Back when we did our show on the
game gloom.
Oh, yeah. That's right. They the transparent cards.
(07:12):
Has transparent cars that stack on top of
each. Mh. We have another 1 in the
basement, but that's
playable for more players it's called Ren fair.
I will say I like the way
the sleeves that come with this game.
Make it. So things aren't sliding around. It
was all very neat and Yeah.
We'll tape together nice. We'll get there So
(07:33):
from Bo,
says,
build a pos to steal valuable technology in
an alternate history Wild west.
It has a rating of 6.4 out of
10 for popularity, and its weight slash complexity
is 2.16
out of 5.
And And it's designed for 2 to 4
players. Right. I also said it plays best
(07:53):
with 3,
which is interesting.
Really?
Why not 4? I don't know. Boom I
anyone's it's designed by
doing my best on this Corey, Corey
Ko.
Yeah
It looks polish or drink or something. You
look... Yeah. He definitely has a
a Polish type name.
(08:15):
Lots of You've got
consonants in a row. Right. That's your clue.
So some of the other games, that he
has... He looks like a jolly old guy.
It looks like a good guy to hang
out. It kinda looks like a polish shaggy.
Okay. So he's done some work on the
Battles star collect board game, which I heard
is really good. It's another bluff type game.
Where you try and figure out who the
(08:36):
silence are. Okay. He also has done some
work on descent journeys in the dark.
And
Discover lands known and a game that I
would really wanna get into called El Horror
from 20 13. It's a call of Cthulhu.
Type of game.
Yes. You like the completely Like the horror
games.
(08:56):
This the art on this 1
was done by David
Ar d.
Ar d? Ar d? There's no eye after
l. There's an
l after the eye. Yes. Ar villa. So,
he's worth edge entertainment. He's in the art.
Of course, on 3 hundreds controls, but has
also done stuff for
(09:18):
the initiative, which is another game by the
unexpected games,
the producer of this 1 to publisher of
this 1.
The letter of Marquis and breaking bad, the
board game.
Yep. And the other artist,
I'll let you say his name, Suzanne.
Mat.
(09:38):
You move your little cursor. I can't see
that.
Gabriel
Yeah. I something like that blown with that.
So he's an art director for a game
company in Poland.
Okay. He's on 300 sc.
(09:59):
Obviously, but a lot of this game called
chronicles of crime,
which came out 20 18 and has multiple
expansions to it. Like different cards and different
extra extra games to pile on top of
it.
Looks kinda interesting.
And the other 1, I will actually kinda
wanna play just because
(10:20):
the gain and name of the game sounds
very cool. It's called Dinosaur t party.
Dinosaur
party? Yeah. I don't know what that will
play out. But it sounds fun. So... But
sounds like something my
Nephew daughter would enjoy.
She's always erin around dinosaur.
But, yeah, So that's... Like I said, it's
done by published by unexpected games. Mh. Who
(10:42):
has also done,
the outside of the 3000 sc rules. Mh.
Other
other games are the, oh, I just lost
a name is come on.
Wifi,
the Man
adventures, the initial the blank initiative. It's
The... Oh, it's the the... Whatever like to
(11:04):
work. Like, the name has been redacted.
That's funny. And a game I wanna play.
It's for 3 to 6 players, but it's
called voices in my head,
where you're in court and everybody is controlling
1 guy for So you take controls of
different aspects of the guy's personality has a
prosecutor to tries to convict him from honesty
to selfish ness, each persona has a different
(11:27):
secret goal. So and just about anything can
happen. So with each persona
has. It sounds there...
Fantastic. Yeah. That's 3 to 6 players so,
we'll have to
try that with a crowd. Yeah. But yeah,
again, publish unexpected games. So Suzanne, what kind
of
kind of game is this?
So
(11:47):
3000
scandals,
it's definitely a family friendly game.
It's definitely got a lot of strategy to
it. Mh. There's...
Basically, your... The goal of the game is
to get tech.
And there's more than 1 way to do
that. Yeah. And family friendly game, I would
definitely... I would say it's
(12:08):
family friendly fe. Children above the age of
10. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's way too
much strategy for young children, definitely. Yeah. And
and there is some... I mean, it's the
wild west.
So there's gonna be a little bit of
violence, you know. I mean, there's
pictures of guys with guns and women in.
Right. Worse and... Right. So if you're if
(12:29):
you're anti gun for your young children,
you definitely don't want a wild west game.
Yeah. But this is what you would call
a...
Excuse me, alternate history while Wild.
Right? Yep. So the premise on this 1
is the traveler.
But has come to the wild west from
the future and dropped technology all over the
(12:49):
place, and then 1 day just disappeared.
So the traveler was there for 3 years
did a bunch of stuff made a lot
of advancements in the wild wasn't then
went away. Now... Each person in the game.
Mysteriously. Yes, mysteriously disappeared, and that's all you
get. Right. You play 1 of 4 leaders
in this Texas... Their Texas is Western town.
(13:10):
Western now. And
you all have different goals. I mean, it
doesn't... The goals we don't play out like
you have an actual objective, but on each
of the tableau,
there's a different...
Everybody has a different
motivation. Yeah. So, like, the banker just wants
to make money,
the,
He sees it as a business opportunity. Yeah.
The gang leader wants a game power, the
(13:33):
1 1
Sheriff wants to destroy all the tech because
of... It's world, there's something wrong with it
and the other 1 wants to
Well, that was the girl that wanted to,
you, gather it all up and destroy it
at all. Yeah. The the red
she wants to go back to the old
ways. Right. And then the red head girl
wanted to advance everything and make everything better
(13:53):
with the tech. The scientists. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
She thinks she can use it for good.
So... But, yeah. So this,
obviously, American West Frontier.
It's also a bluff game.
So you are encouraged
to,
how do we say this? Lie. Not... Tell
the truth all the time.
(14:13):
And, there are little mini poker cards
numbered from,
ace through 6, and then you also get
a 0 card, which which, of course is
not found in a regular deck.
And as I said before, the the victory
points that you get are from finding the
tech.
(14:34):
You can either find the tech
on a sc.
You can find the tech
by
increasing your
Reputation... Your reputation points, each count as a
tech point, I guess then people would, like,
give you tech if you had a good
reputation. Right?
And then also,
(14:55):
you can find tech in certain vault.
In certain areas. Yeah. So, like, you you
go to the travelers
lab,
you can go... There... What are the other
2 locations?
There was the estate, the depot and the
laboratory. Okay. Yeah. So his lab, his house,
the estate and then at the depot.
(15:18):
Is where there's all these safe
with
tech in the and you're trying to find.
The most tech Right. So we start off
your team by... Your start off your team.
Start off if your turn by playing a
card out of your hand. Now you draw
4 cards out of the stack of 7...
7 that you have? Yep. Because it's ace
2 6 plus 0. Right. So 7.
(15:38):
Yeah. And you play them on on your
Tableau, which allowed you to do things like
scout out of safe, which allows you to
look at the safe, see what the what
the scoring on is, how much tech you
get from it, and then covering it back
up. And then if you want,
you can mark it by putting a poker
chip with a number on it. Now the
(15:58):
number does not have to
coincide
with the tech points that could be under
there. So... And this kinda of plays into
the fact that each each section. So like
the laboratory
what's? The laboratory had tech from 2 through
7. Yeah. So you could get A2A2A4A4A6
(16:18):
or A7I right. And then, like, the estate
doesn't have a 7. It's got 2 threes,
a 2 or 4 and a 5. Right.
So you can bluff out your opponents by
trying to put down
that if you find the 7, you can
put a 2 or a 3 down, hoping
your opponents won't go for it. Alright. And
drained But if you do put,
poker chip on it that matches. You get
(16:40):
whatever
claims that safe.
Gets an extra point. Yeah. So if it's
like the 5 point safe and you put
a 5 on it, it would actually be
worth 6 points. Yep. Or if we both
market,
correctly?
You only get the point once.
Really? Yeah. I think so. Oh, never mind.
Thanks you. Yeah.
(17:02):
I thought it was 1 for each. Yeah.
I'm I'm okay. I... I'm not right. The
game... We had we had to play this
couple of times. There were a lot of
rules. There's a lot of rules and what
the
the object of the game to get these
tech points is
helped out by the,
sc that you're gonna put together. So your
second step in the in the turn is
hiring sc.
(17:23):
So what you'll do in hiring sc is
you have a...
Balloon at the top, and there's 3 sc
in their piece. Now, we were talking about
the transparent carts. You take a
There's a job and a trait.
Card. The trait card is transparent
or 1 of is transparent, But you slide
1 into the other. And it's kind of
like,
(17:43):
small world. Mh. Where you have different traits
and different,
races,
and you have, let's say you'll have a
con printer.
Right. And they each have the can
trait and printer job,
come together to have 1 1 specific car
that does XYZ. So... But it it makes
(18:05):
a unique sc that you can then hire.
So the reason it's called 3000 schedules is
because all these different combinations
will make. 3 3000
week.
Sc rules for you to play with. Which
is part of the...
Obviously say confusion, but part of the reason
we're saying Like, if you want... Don't sit
down play this with a 6 year old.
(18:26):
Yeah. Yeah. There's... Because you have to keep
paying attention to all of your cards,
pay attention to combos, pay attention to. They
have
sc with arrows on them. So with 1
sc triggers off on the other left or
above and right, it'll trigger off another 1,
and you can get into a lot... Like,
pull off a bunch of combos. I had
a couple combos in mind where I was
(18:47):
able to get a lot of money in
the first couple turns. Yeah. You I To
had 1 like that too. The 1 game
we played,
I had the 1 that would trigger on
the start of my turn. Mh. And then
I had that next to 1 that had,
that was a response 1 with the arrow
on it. Yeah. And that would trigger.
Another
which gave me money, which was nice. Oh,
(19:08):
by the way, you also have
money in this,
So you start off with 4 dollars
at the beginning of the game.
And
you can add to that. Your schedules can
earn you money,
but also, you have to hire them. So
that costs.
(19:29):
The money is not worth
victory points.
Well, it it can be if there's a
tie.
Right. Right. Right. Whoever, it's, like, if there
is a tie, whoever has most money or
whoever, there's different ways to figure out ties.
But...
The second... Or or or a little bit
about. The other part of getting these. This
is this
juices. The wine kicking. Wine kinda kicking in.
(19:51):
Okay.
You... What you do is it it's specific
on how you have put these characters down
on the tableau. So you have 2 slots
on the top and 3 slots on the
bottom.
And you can rearrange them every time you
hire
a...
Oh, slots for your schedules. Yeah. And that
was was Was talking about was the reaction
(20:11):
sc. They have an arrow on them. So
you can actually build
combos by putting the reaction sc in the
right place. Right. So you have you trigger
1 in the middle, it'll it'll do the
reaction sc on the left or the right,
and you can trigger off. More things to
happen every time you you pull... You could
have a chain of reaction schedules, and that
(20:32):
would really set things. Right. Right. But they
were kind of rare. So that didn't really
happen. Yeah. So we didn't get through. I
mean, I think we got through a lot
of
cards. Well have a 2 player.
So the number of traits and
jobs that you put out,
depends on how many players you have. Exactly.
And there's
(20:53):
there's green ones
black and purple. Purple and black. So the
green ones go on the top of the
deck,
then the purple, and then the black ones
ones are on the bottom.
So
you know, the game can get more difficult
as you go on. The sc might cost
more to hire them. Right. Or have
and or have better
(21:15):
ability. Abilities,
and and certain ones have tech as I
said before, and there'll be a little simple
at the bottom. Right. And those are what
usually with, like, if you get I think
the Android.
So you have... You had, like, an android
purse or something like that, like, the printer
head tech. The printer head tech, the test
subject head tech. Right. You know, they all
have a tech symbol. So you have multiple
(21:36):
ways to score tech points, which is with
what sc you hire, what your reputation is
and what you're pulling from the safe.
And the other cool thing about pulling the
items from the safe is when you put...
When you score a safe, you don't have
to say
how much...
And how many points you got? Nope. You
don't reveal that to that. You you look
(21:56):
at, you can say nothing. You could fake
them out. You can lie. You can
let's say you have a, chip on there
that's got the correct
scoring on there, if you've marked the safe.
You can you can say, and you're actually
encouraged to say, well, you know, that's that's
mark wrong.
So... Right. Yeah.
There's there's a lot of bluff so you're
really not sure... I mean, many games you're
(22:19):
playing and you're like, oh, I'm in first
place. I know I'm winning. You don't know
you're winning in this. I know you're winning
into the very. Yeah. When we finally and
played the 3 day game,
I was like, I've lost,
and you were, like, I don't know. I
think it's pretty close. And like we were
like, 2 points apart or something like that.
It was pretty close. But
what else? Oh,
the the the cards
(22:40):
and the,
Mh.
That thing lit the name I can't remember.
The mobility cards. No
your reputation. Yes. So, let's say that Michael
plays a 3
face down.
In the 3 sock slot.
But I think he's actually playing a 5
(23:01):
because he played a 3 on the previous
day. Mh. Well, then I could say I
think you're bluff.
And I take 1 of my hen,
1 of my hen token tokens
and put it on your
3 slot,
but
that doesn't keep you from using it. So
(23:22):
I think when you played a 3 you
gained a certain amount of money, You gained
3. That was the ability for that 1?
Yeah. 3 and 4, you gained 3 and
4 dollars. Is that what it was? Yeah.
Okay. And then
But then at the end of the day,
you would flip that card over that had
the tote... My token on it,
and, oh, it was a 5, so then
(23:42):
you would lose I would lose reputation reputation
points or
if you hadn't been bluff, and it was
a 3, then my
my hen would go to jail. Right. Which
brings us to
loses my ability to say your bluff next
time. And it there's also other the things
you can do with the hen, which you
have 3 hen to just 2 hen to
(24:04):
start out with 1 in jail. Mh. And
the third port... Third part of your turn
is activating or using the sheriff's office.
Right. So actually,
step 1 was playing your card in doing
the abilities and anything that triggered.
Step 2, you can either hire a sc
or activate the sheriff's office.
It up. Yeah. So to activate the sheriff's
(24:25):
office,
you take 1 of the available sc rules,
which there are 3 of and takes 1
on the right and slide them off the
board. Yep. Put him in the discard pile
and then place a new card in
in the sal salon. Right. And then you
can use the sheriff's abilities, which you could
either
sell him information for 2 dollars. And you
(24:48):
would gain 2 dollars, or you could pay
to get 1 of your
out... Out of sale
4 dollars?
I think it was...
No. I think it was 2 dollars a
piece,
but you could only gain get, like, 2
hen out of jail total, which would be
4 dollars. Okay. I think that's what it
was. Something like that.
(25:10):
And then there is another sheriff ability, but
it's not available until the very, very end
of the game. So I just looked it
up 2 dollars to free hen or 4
dollars to free 2 hen. Right. K. But
was the other thing I said Right? Oh,
yeah. Some information for 2 dollars 2. Finally,
the last 1 is, what is it bribe
sheriff? Yeah. So the very, very end, you
(25:31):
have a chance to bribe the sheriff for
12 dollars. So you've gotta make sure you
have the money
and then you could steal another
safe.
So let's say I spent all my time
trying to look for the high point safe
as I did in the 1 game, and
I did not claim a safe it during
my first turn.
(25:54):
Well, then I'm behind because I can only
claim up to 3 safe. And Michael already
had 3 safe, and I only had 2.
Mh. So maybe I want to make sure
I have enough money at the end of
the game, so I can claim an additional
safe on that last day. Right? And if
you do claim an additional safe, needs to
say you have you're picking up your fourth
1, you can swap them out. Oh, yeah.
That's right. You're not at a loss. You're
(26:15):
not just like, if you if you
accidentally got all two's.
Right. And because 1 1 of the 1
of the things is a Ace 2 allows
you to
Scout and mark safe. Mh. 3 and 4
allowed you to get 3 and 4 hours.
5 allows you to steal a safe. Right.
And 6 did nothing. Did nothing.
But it might activate 1 of your sc
(26:35):
rolls. Right. You can play a 6, and
that was another thing that the sc do.
Some of the sc have cards
there,
other abilities. So when you play 3 or
a 6,
their abilities would trigger off. Right. Or an
ace or 2 or whatever it is. Right.
Or they might be activated by certain things
like stealing a safe might activate a syndrome.
(26:57):
So you just have to read all cards,
that... And that's the thing. This there's a
lot of reading. Right. A lot of reading
for the rules. I mean, but once you
get the rules down, it's pretty pretty easy.
It's just paying attention to what all...
What's happening with all the sc because there's
some sc rules that... I could trigger off
your sc roll.
Oh, really. Yeah. There's something, like, when a
(27:18):
safe is stolen.
Mh. You know, so that what that does
is it just makes it, like, you kinda
have to pay attention. To everything that's going
on on the board. So it's not... It's
not going to be a very chat game.
No. Well, the fun thing it it may
can get to be a lot. But it
builds slowly because on day 1, you don't...
You don't have any sc to start. Right.
(27:39):
And then maybe you add 1,
and then you add another, and then... Pretty
soon your board's full and you've got a
lot to keep track of. Mh. But then
you can also cycle through this. Cycle through
the sc also. So Mh. If you highest
c 1 that you really want, you can
hire that 1 and get rid of anyone
that's sitting on the board. If If your
sc
track is full. Yeah. If you have all
5. Right. But... Yeah. It does have a
(28:03):
expansion.
33000
sc drills double or nothing.
Double or nothing. Came out. And that came
out in 20 23,
it has more advanced technologies,
double the sc drills, so no new job
and trait cards, oh, double the possible sc
to 6000.
(28:24):
I was gonna say 3000 was plenty.
Yep. But maybe if you played the game
a lot. Oh, this is might 1. This
is what I was thinking of because I
was looking at this. Oh, this core game
does not have any that trigger off on
your opponents.
The expansion does. The expansion does...
Say I didn't see any.
Mavericks
will... They have abilities to activate during your
(28:45):
opponent's terms. So you have to pay attention.
What's going on. Attention About your opponent's doing,
Not. It also... Thinking ahead about your own
turn. Brings a solo mode.
Oh, And has other things like debts, new
locations, and
So if you have no friends by the
expandable, then you can play it by yourself
I have bought them.
(29:06):
So but but no. It's it's... I I
like what for I like Western game. I
Western. Yeah. I really they're fun.
I love watching Western movies.
I like all that sort of thing. It's
a lot of fun. It's a great. The
story behind it it interesting too that you
had this time traveler come, and now everybody's
out to get his tech. Mh.
(29:28):
But he's not around.
Right. So it's not like he's still there
affecting things.
He could be dead. He could have gone
back to his time. Yeah. You don't know.
He could be hiding somewhere.
But I enjoy this 1. I really did.
It it... I do think it'll play much
better with more players because think for us
there wasn't a lot of time for us
(29:49):
to, like,
set up
plan because it was like, why you kinda
have to go with the flow because it
depends on what kind of sc drills pop
up in the sal salon. Mh. It depends
on what
your opponent is doing. Like, the first game
I don't think you got any reputation points.
No. But the second game, I think you
(30:11):
had the Max number, and I'm like, oh
my gosh. I gotta take him down a
pig. You know? Yeah. I... But I ran
you started me and bluff and stuff. Well,
but I... And the first came, I had
a lot of money.
So I could hire whatever I wanted. Do,
you know, you know, it's kinda nice. But
then the second game, for some reason, I
just could not get the money flowing. So
(30:31):
once I accused you have bluff
a few a couple times, I
I was like, Do I use my money
to try and get my hen back
or do I use it to try and
get more tech? Mh. You know, you've you
you've gotta make some choices there? So
Well, definitely. I thought the strategy was really
(30:51):
interesting. I liked it a lot. And it's
definitely not a game that you're gonna wind
up being like, oh, yeah. I just do
this do this do this. I win. No
because it's gonna change literally every time. Yeah.
Every game. So... Well because even the sc
aren't the same every game. Now quality wise.
This game is really put together well. Oh,
yeah. I I loved the... So you have
the board
(31:11):
that
has the sal and the sheriff and all
the safe and everything set up on it.
Mh which there's little
safe cards
that go on the board. Yep. And I
think there were 3 that 3 spaces that
don't get filled 1 in each area. Right.
That were on your side. Just despair safe
off to the side. Yeah. So that could
be, you know, You might be looking for
(31:32):
that 1 safe that has 7 tech points
in it, and it's not even on the
board. You know. Yeah. Now you don't even
think no. And then
and then each player has their own little
Matt.
Tableau... Tab
where you
keep track of your
schedules that you've hired,
(31:55):
what else? Oh, The second game we played
we had,
our abilities. Our special abilities.
So you don't have... To play it with
the special abilities, but it does add an
extra layer to the game.
So mine was when I played A6I
think I gained a bunch of money or
something.
What was yours? You started out with a
(32:16):
dollar every? I got I got a dollar
every beginning of every time. Yeah. Yeah. So
that was that was interesting too. Yeah. And
then,
and then, of course, you've got all your
poker chips and your playing cards. Yeah. Know.
Well, the comm of the cardboard is in...
I mean, the boards that they use for
are really good quality. Mh. The chips are
nice and thick.
The money's is nice and thick. Ever all
(32:38):
the all the... Yeah The little dollar bill
chips.
The
the centerpiece of it are is the cards
themselves, so they actually give you
the transparent cards a stack of card sleeves
in black green and purple that you slide
the cards into. Mh. And then you have
the other cards that slide into them.
Giving us the kanye leaves was really nice.
(32:59):
Yes. I I really like that a lot.
It it's something they didn't have to put
in there but it really makes the gameplay
much smoother
to put those card combos together. Mh.
Yeah.
And then, you know, everything lines up nicely.
So there's also,
remember some of them had bullet holes that
would cover up the cost. Right. Sometimes they
(33:21):
could cost more or less depending on the
combos Yeah have to together. Together. Another cool
thing that I... And that just little stuff
that I like about it. Like,
the back of the poker cards and the
safe. Mh. Have these
what looks like kind of the cool
wild west
like F agree like you see on the
side of a rifle and that sort of
thing Mh. But it's actually circuitry. Circuit boards.
(33:44):
If you look at the box itself at
the right angle,
there's a d boss. Oh, I see it.
See it? D boss circuitry all over the
all over the box. Got a lot of
detail. A lot of cool little details a
lot cool little things like the poker chips
have that same circuitry in them. So it
kinda reminds you that you're playing this alternate
history type they type game.
(34:05):
It's fun.
I enjoyed it. I
think for 2 players, it's okay. I think
we may need to play it a couple
more times to really figure it out.
I think 3 to 4 players might be
more fun because you have more bluff. You
have more... Yeah. You know, stuff going Yeah.
And
the a lot of those things that triggered
(34:25):
that affected your opponents.
Right. Would affect more than 1 person. Everybody
lose is a dollar ever... You gain a
dollar from all your opponents there's all these
different cars that happened there? It's like that.
What do you think about the Couch scores
who's in? Well, actually, 1 to 10 I'm
I go ahead. 1 to send for fun?
Yeah.
I would give it
(34:45):
gosh.
I almost... I I don't wanna say that
anything is perfect, but I think I would
give it a 10. Of course, I also
won both games, which I think is why
you're like, Maybe we need to play this
with more people.
Also, you gave you gave last week's game,
flock together a 10. Did I? You did.
(35:06):
We'll see these are my kind of games.
So gotten a little more strategy to it
than a normal than some games would have.
That a regular party game would have. Right.
Where you can play with, like, 10 more
strategy than risk, but not as much strategy
as like, a European... But what did I
say? European trained simulator game?
Yeah. You don't have? Oh, too much strategy,
(35:28):
look. You don't have him much you. This
was border on almost too much to keep
track of. Right. Like, what was the that
we were watching Had fun. The demo of
on Youtube. You I don't know but... They
they were explaining the roles, and I...
Yeah. It was that music 1. Yeah. And
We got about halfway through it and I
was like, how much longer are they gonna
(35:48):
talk about the rules? Good. Grief. Yeah.
I was like, I'm done with this, and
you... I turned you and you're... I'm like,
this is too much hugo.
Yep.
Was just
I mean, there were a lot of rules
going out with this thing, and it was
like, music And I know some people like
it. I mean, I really do. I do
(36:08):
know Like, mae stroller, something. My or, whatever
that... What's the name of the person who
creates
that makes some
Composer.
Bump not composed to make... Actually makes the
the games.
Designer. Not games makes the
composer. There... Oh, not the used the instruments.
(36:29):
Oh, yes.
And it was a word I'd never heard
before. Yeah. Which is kind of weird. Yeah.
Because you've heard of all the work. Yes.
It's named Well, yeah. Yeah. It's named after.
Yeah. Ever... A, like a master instrument maker
term name.
Not the name of a specific person.
(36:50):
Oh my gosh. We're gonna have to add
a bunch of this out.
It just type and looking for the game.
What you don't you... What does we stuff?
Allude
Oh, that's Right? Luc.
LUTHIER.
Yeah. It... If you like really complicated
games about. It's musical instruments. And a games
(37:12):
that have, like, a thousand different scoring boards.
Up that game. Yeah.
Not for me. I don't like that.
This had just enough. There were, like, like
I said, like, 3 different ways to get
the victory points. Mh.
The music game probably had, like,
10 different ways to get music points create
(37:33):
so many and it was like, you had
to get, well, any anyone who, we're not
talking about that. Yeah. Will record the relationship?
I think it's between a 2 and a
3 because it's a bluff game. Yes. The
bluff.
I can't believe you lied about that. That
was a point of the game.
So I would I would give it a
2 and a half
out of 5.
(37:53):
For the couch score. For the couch score.
I could see I could see me get
in trouble. Yeah. I could give it a
2.
Yeah. It it was fine. Yeah. Not not
real bad, but enough to make breakfast awkward
sometimes.
We will also... Depends on how aggressive you
get. Right. If you are interested in these
games in
3000
or expansion, I am going to be actually
(38:15):
in the S note, that will be our
Amazon Associates Link. Oh. So you can click
on that and purchase the game that way.
We do get a little change back from
that. Just let me know. Just a little
bit, but It helps. Yeah. So in the
meantime, final pay for these microphones.
Finals,
says the wine changed. Do know I've been
(38:35):
tipping on it the whole time.
Let's see.
Sit
Tart has gone down. Yeah. It's a little
smoother.
Dryness has not.
Yeah. It's still dry.
Juice here.
Juice here. Mh.
I agree. Yeah. Not as tart.
(38:58):
I would... Like I guess I would call
that smoother. It's a little bit smoother, but
it's still dry and juicy. Yeah. Juice.
Still good. Still... I, again, I... This isn't...
Still has strong berry flavor. Right. And this
isn't a wine. Like, I don't think I
would correct this open if we were having
you know, london bro or steak. So I
mean, with guests, you, if we were having
a pizza.
(39:18):
This is... I I think this 1 3
rare years. Yeah. 3 rain never tame Red
blend. If you're having burgers and pizza, this
is a good daily driver. Mh. So...
And on the last call.
Last call, Michael, what did you find a
kick start? I found
quilt, the car game by Jared Richardson. Because
your so into quilt.
(39:40):
I
little grandma like it.
I was trying to be nice.
So... Well, your mom quilt? Yeah. We got
quilt from her on the house. My grandma
quilt.
Currently, it is at. 3670
dollars of its thousand dollar goal. Oh, well,
they're definitely
and 36 backers with 19 days to go
(40:01):
as of
07/21/2024.
If it is past that,
don't
back it.
Yes. You won't be able to find it.
And this 1, he's already done a game
called quilt paper quilt where you're playing cards,
and basically, it's, like, kinda like cart
(40:22):
where you have a a paper pad and
you're filling in these squares to make your
quilt with the different patterns.
This 1
actually winds up with building quilt
by
completing patterns, making sure that the them automatically
correct.
And you win the game
by scoring patterns as many times as you
(40:43):
can. Yeah. So the cards are double sided.
1 side has the pattern
on it, and the other side has the
actual quilt squares Mh. In a certain,
you know, like, It looks like a a
corn on the cob or whatever the picture
is pineapple apple or a piece of pie.
Right. So
you collect the patterns, but then you also
(41:05):
have to collect the squares to complete the
patterns, and then that's how you get the
points. So in that way, it reminded me
a lot of a game called point salad,
because there were cards... Those cards were kinda
of like that where you had. Cards that
told you what you... What kind of salad
you needed to make. Mh. Right? Like, you
needed 3 onions, but no peppers or something
(41:28):
like that. And then you had to collect
those vegetables to get the points.
So that kinda reminds me of that in
a way. And this 1, you've got different
characters with different abilities on here also. So
you've got Granny Smith.
Can turn quilt blocks into additional patterns. So
you get points for having a symmetrical quilt.
Okay if you're having a matching pattern,
(41:50):
big billy
doesn't have limits. He can select 1 to
4 cards at a time, which apparently there's...
You can only have so many cards when
you draw them. There's different characters that you
have on here that are, All have different
abilities
That will change the way that you build
your quilt. But It looks cute.
Garrett. I mean, Jared has another.
(42:10):
Melting art looks really nice. Mh. It looks
very
Kinda... It looks like a intricate kinda quilt.
Like, there's pie and there's houses. Yeah. What
is I called? What j? Geometry. Geometry is
very nice. Quilt are very geometric. Well, that's
why I said geometry.
So he also has a game called Falcon
re, which I wanna check out.
(42:32):
But yeah. It's it's article. He has 3
3 kickstarter on the so far, and the
likes of the first 1 is a another
quilt game. And in the kickstarter itself.
The rewards are if you 17 bucks and
you get the
quilt
quilt game itself. Mh.
For 29,
you get quilt tournament.
You get 2 copies of quilt, so you
(42:54):
can play from in from 1 to 4
to 1 to 8 players.
Okay. And then you get a copy of
quilt paper quilt files, so you can print
out the game. Did... You know,
I tried doing paper quilt. Did you know
that? No. A while ago? No.
I don't know why it downstairs with the
scrapbook booking stuff. I think I got rid
of it. Scrapbook booking as a downstairs with
(43:15):
the
what's the other stuff? It's all my crafting
supply. Cross edge stuff. Time for. Yeah.
Some of it I cannot get rid of.
No. Some of it. I was like, yeah.
What was say saying. No. This 1 looks.
You got about 20 days left as of
today.
Well, I mean, as of stated... Of june
July 20 first. Yes.
(43:35):
If it is asked, again, if it's after
that or close to it,
sponge this. I mean, the the stuff the
guy the guy put together looks pretty good.
Yeah. So I like it. And again. There's
not as many pieces and things. It's just
the cards. Right? Yeah. Yeah. So
that's what we got for you tonight.
And if you would like to get in
touch with us, like Susie said we're at

Guns family game?
You obviously don't know my family.
You don't have the thanksgiving shootout out?
