Welcome to Midlife
Marauders with Will & Max
Hello, Will. Hi, Max, how areyou? I'm good. I see you're all
out wahoo-ed out today? Yeah, Ifell in the spirit today the UVA
(00:29):
spirit so, so I'd throwsomething on and for the
podcast, was there somethingthat sparked that? Like no?
(05:30):
And I would have had to make adish. And I have no idea. What
is that? What's keeping? Youknow, that's not what's keeping
me. So what I can do mysomething? Well, I was gonna do
that anyway. But I was keepingme is I looked at my calendar
the other day and realize I havea conflict. So
(05:50):
this a friend of mine, his momis having her birthday party
tomorrow. Okay, and it says theexact same time as the
Friendsgiving. So I had told herearlier that I would come to her
birthday, so I had to back outof it friends. Okay, that's
nice. I mean, do you think it'dbe more fun at the birthday
party than the Friendsgiving? Isthat part of it? No, no.
(06:16):
Um, you know, when I give acommitment to something, you
know, I say I'm coming. Yeah, Itry to keep you know, um, so
we'll see how it goes. I listento this and are going to be
coming after you.
Who is this eligible bachelor?
Who keeps his word? Right. Nowthe one on Saturday, it's in
(06:40):
Richmond. Okay. And you're notgoing? Yeah, I don't feel like
driving down. Okay. Yeah. Imean, there's no, I don't have
anything scheduled.
So I could get on the road. Butthen I have to worry about the
dog anddoing all that. And the guy hit
me up the other day, because Ihad sent him.
(07:04):
I never replied back to theinvitation was sent. And do
people still do evite? By theway? Yeah, but so are you one of
these people that you don'tRSVP? Unless it's a yes. Is that
why you didn't reply? Like, well, it depends. Right? It
depends. So I did not RSVP tothat. Because I just because
(07:28):
they're gonna hassle you if youif I didn't think they would.
But I the guy, I sent him asong. Cuz he really likes
fabulous. So I sent him a songthat fabulous was featured in
andof course, he liked it and said,
you know, we need more fabulousin our life. And then he said,
Hey, are you coming to thefriends giving us an Amen?
(07:52):
So I was like, No, I can't makeit. So you already said no.
Yeah. But the friend the otherfriends giving that's in
conflict with the birthdayparty. I did RSVP back to that.
Popular so well. I mean, it iswhat is she? Okay, are you
going? Are you going home forThanksgiving? I am going home
(08:15):
for Thanksgiving.
Well, let's circle back to you.
Do you do Friendsgiving with thewoods was like anybody like
married or like a anothermarried family or something? Or
just friends or anybody? In myfamily, my sister, my younger
six sisters, the big cook. Andso, you know, she's around and
(08:38):
there's going to be aThanksgiving dinner, right? If
she's not around and we just buysomething or we go out so I
don't know. I haven't. I haven'tdone it. And I also you know, I
taught my kids homeschool Ihomeschool them right and so I
you know, it taught them allabout the pilgrims and the
Native Americans. And then itjust kind of the whole
Thanksgiving idea soured on me.
I mean, not to be a DebbieDowner. But I was like, why are
(08:59):
we celebrating this and so itdoesn't have as much meaning to
me but we're just my older sonwants to have real Thanksgiving
food. So we ordered somethingfrom Harris Teeter.
I'm not mad at that.
But free giving isThanksgiving is is cool. For me
the mostly the friends givingparties I've been to are
(09:25):
basically just a bunch of singlepeople that had nothing that
wanted to get together. It's notusually
Yeah, it's not usually familyoriented, oriented.
So, but the girl has hosting andshe did get married so recently,
(09:46):
so maybe, I don't know. She justcontinued to do it. I think she
got it. Okay, now I was gonnasay I like hosting stuff for
things for friends. ButThanksgiving is too big of a you
know, I'm not going to be thatwell.
On is hosting a big dinner likethat? Yeah.
Yeah, I don't I don't do that.
But I, you know, I don't mindgoing to him, you know, I'll
(10:08):
come in most parties if there'sfood involved. So if you know if
you're gonna feed me then mostlikely I'm gonna be there. So
I want to talk about MatthewPerry. No, yeah, we haven't had
a chance to talk about recipes.
Matthew Perry. Definitely restin peace. So what how did you
find out and like, what was yourreaction? Like most things
(10:32):
Twitter. That's that's my that'smy news source. So one reason
why I really have Twitterbecause seems like everything
breaks on Twitter beforeanything else. Yeah. And then I
don't I don't really go onTwitter much anymore.
Yeah, sorry. Sorry. X. M, whichis the dumbest thing ever. But
(10:57):
yeah, apparently he drowned in ahot tub. Yeah. Okay. Did they
find out anything? Like, he didnot have anything in the system?
From what I read, butyou know, I think he was 5455.
Yeah, he's my age. Yeah, he'slike, a little bit older than
me. So hate to see. A Maraudergo down like that rest in peace.
(11:24):
It's really sad, right? I mean,I wasn't. I guess I wouldn't say
I watched all of the friends.
See. See I got a hot take onthat.
Have you watched them all? No,but I used to date a girl who
was super watching friends. Anddid you watch with her? I did.
(11:45):
I got ready for my take on that.
Yeah. And I also want to knowlike, what did you like? Who was
your favorite character?
I takeI'm not sure I'm I'm not gonna
say this. grammatically correct.
But the. And it was the leastfunniest show I think I've ever
seen in my life.
(12:06):
It just wasn't funny. You didn'tlike Phoebe singing in the cat.
Oh, smelly cat. No. And you sayall of that like was? Don't you
think there was like one seasonthat maybe you liked better than
others? No.
They weren't. They mean? Okay, let's put it like this. If they
wereless attractive, right? Right,
then nobody would watch theshow. That's true. But that's
(12:28):
how the premise of most showsthat you have to have. You can
have funny shows and people notbe attractive. I just think they
were just a good lookingcollection of people that were a
little bit weird and quirky.
And, you know, it was kind oflike,
(12:49):
I wouldn't say groundbreakingper se because I think it was
actually a riff off of LivingSingle, but we can go we can
talk about that some other time.
That which came out beforefriends, by the way. Same kind
of premise but was by people.
Butit just wasn't funny to me. It
didn't it never made me laughout loud. I mean, it just kind
(13:11):
of was like, oh, yeah, it waskind of like silly and goofy and
blah, blah, blah. But it wasjust a collection of pretty
people and all the guest starsthey would bring on were more
pretty people and you just likeseeing pretty people. Do you
know, like,you know, somewhat amusing
stuff. And then that's what thatwas.
(13:34):
I mean, there's nobody I mean,Elaine was hot, in my opinion,
but I mean, nobody Wait So sohow about the girl that you wish
you dating her that she reallyloved it? Why did she love it?
You know, she just she's justlike friends? I mean, I'll put
it out there. She She was white.
Andshe just like friends. Do you
(13:54):
think it's like a white show?
Oh, for sure. You said it. Idid. Let's timestamp that. Well,
you think about it. I bet you ifthat came out now they'd have
more people of color in it. Youknow, just Oh, cool. How all the
commercials these people ofcolor. And of course and there
will be there would be a gayperson. Right. So looking back
it was very white. Yeah.
Homogenous, very homogenous.
(14:19):
Very good word. Yeah. So but Idon't know. I watched a couple
of his movies Matthew Perry'smovies that maybe? Yeah, right.
Yeah. Got a couple of goals. Buthe's got such a, you know, he
had a good screen presence. Ofall the characters on that show.
He was probably my favorite.
Like if there was someone thatyou had to choose choose and
maybe maybe made me like, smilea little bit or? No, I don't
(14:43):
know. Right. Because he was kindof he was self deprecating self
deprecating humor. Yeah. So heYeah, he may. He may have made
me chuckle, too. Yeah. But theother ones. Joey. Right.
I was um, Kardashian in that oneOJ show. Oh, yeah.
(15:09):
I can't take him seriously.
Yeah, but I was really, youknow, even though it wasn't a
huge friends fan, it just seemedlike such a waste, right, like,
super sad that it came down tothat, you know, that's how it
ended for him.
It wasn't suicide, right? It wasno accident.
You know, when I firstheard the news, I was like, oh,
(15:31):
man, he must have a deed. And,you know, I sat in the hot tub
and drove. So who knows realstory, maybe a cover up? I don't
know. But just recipes, I mean, audition. Right, I realized is,
you know, the show's impact onsociety when these are super
popular show. You know, I'm notgoing to discredit that, you
know, and they were all veryfamous.
(15:57):
So,I mean, obviously, I know the
characters and, you know,they're really
correct. So they made it. Right.
So they definitely had aan impact, or imprint, I should
say, on society. And, you know,I'll give him credit for that.
It was a wildly popular show, and I would check in and I'll
(16:18):
maybe be forced to watch itsometimes.
But it sounds like he was tryingto do a lot of good things, you
know, to help peoplewho had who are alcoholics or
who were, you know, I didn'tknow that. I didn't know we're
addicts. Yeah. Now he startedsome,
like a house. It's not a home, but some place to help people
(16:39):
who had addiction problems. AndI think that's what he said he
wanted to be remembered for. SoI think that's great. That he
was really, I don't know, Ithink I think trying to move
away just from the stardom andtrying to find meaning, which I
think is amazing. And makes iteven sadder. Right? Yeah, for
sure. I mean, you know, he wasour age. So I felt like he, you
(17:02):
know, a lot more to give tolife. Sure. For sure, you know,
so recipes. Matthew Perry, prayers and thoughts to his
family and friends. Um, let'smove on to another
midlife Murata that recently wasbestowed the sexiest man alive.
(17:24):
Give it up for Patrick Dempsey.
He's actually 57 Is he olderthan us? He's 57.
We're not far behind. Well, Imean, you know, speak for
yourself, but Well, yeah. SoPatrick Dempsey, was he mixed
in? Make dreamy, dreamy, okay.
You know, I never watched thatshow. See, there's another thing
(17:46):
that so I'm always like, I'llwatch a couple seasons, and then
I'll just get tired of it. Youknow, but I watched it. I mean,
he was cute. I mean, yeah. Andhe was in all those old. He was
in a bunch of bunch of 80smovies. Yeah, he was one of
those guys.
he's kind of like GeorgeClooney. A little bit. Whereas,
(18:07):
like, you know, you knew himfrom like, George Clooney was in
like, the facts of life orsomething like that. Right.
Right. Right. And, you know, okay, all right. Whatever guy
but nobody, nobody paid anyattention to him that much. And
then he on to Zack, yeah, hethen he, you know, I did
something about it. Yeah. Hepicked a great on Grey's
(18:29):
Anatomy, I think Pete Yeah. Soyou know, they got a little bit
older.
You know, look a little bit moremature. He has good hair. Good
at Yeah, great. Hair is great.
Arizona. Nice, you know?
Correct. So yeah, I love gettinggiven credit to gentleman. I
(18:53):
guess if women do that, too, buttwo gentlemen that peak a little
bit later in their lives and youknow, get get, you know, hot at
like, you know, late 30s 40s and50s. So, right. Do you think
it's more common for men though?
Oh, of course. I mean, theyhaven't. Yeah.
What are we saying there? Um,but I researched like, what how
(19:16):
do they select him? Right? Like, how out of the blue? Would they
have picked him? Because Ithought he had wanted a while
ago, but I guess he soundedlike a runner up or something.
How do you get a name extinct?
Oh, McDreamy, whatever you was,and not wind. Right. Right. So
so they say it's kind of what'strending or what's the mood of
(19:38):
the people are right now becauseit's People magazine. So I was
wondering if it's just thepeople who read People Magazine
are also the same age but Idon't know any young people who
are reading that know who thesepeople magazine reads magazines.
Exactly. Domain I guess it'sjust the online. Good even is a
publication. I think it's stillon newsstands like you can go
(20:00):
to the grocery store thesupermarket. So yeah, I mean,
yeah, I don't I don't payattention.
What was the one? The NationalEnquirer? Those used to be
right? Oh yeah, the newsstandand I don't know that's out or
not. I haven't seen those in awhile. I mean, I guess there are
a guide to make TV.
(20:21):
I doubt it. Um, but yeah, Imean, it's, yeah, I remember
those publications, right. Youknow, as you're in the grocery
line, and I guess PeopleMagazine and
Entertainment Weekly orwhatever, those magazines, but
yes. I think my sister used tosubscribe to that. So yeah. So I
(20:41):
think that he, I think, anothercriteria is that are they doing
something interesting or getsback and I think he is doing I
think he also started somethingand in honor of his mother who
had counseling through epicYeah, exactly. So it's like, you
have to be very well rounded.
You can't just be hot.
Well, I was I did, like perusethe list of
(21:05):
Sexiest Men. Yeah, like the youknow, going back a little bit.
And you know, there's there'ssome guys that weren't, you
know, in their 50s in their midthigh. George Clooney one before
him. He's always like, he had tohave been one but Paul Rudd was
a couple of years ago. It justelbow. I can see either, so
(21:27):
Blake Shelton, was old rock whojust think just turned 50.
So yeah, representation.
Shout out to the mid lifers outthere. Doing a bit doing a bit.
Now. Is there a femaleequivalent to that? I don't
think so. I wonder if they it'son purpose. Like it seems to
(21:50):
sexist. I mean, you know, there's plenty of magazines that
will feed your sexy women, youknow, Oh, yeah. We were talking
about Martha Stewart right. 81on Sports Illustrated.
I mean,because they're trying to make a
point, right. Yeah. Older peoplecan be sexy to. Sure. Sure. And
I'm sure I'll conform to thatopinion a little bit more when I
(22:12):
get to that age, buta golden bachelor.
Yeah, well, I saw that cover. Imean, it looks highly filtered.
To me. But hey, kudos to her ashout out to Martha Stewart.
She's definitely she's alwaysdoing some she's something
(22:33):
she's, uh, she's. She's one thatyou know, in the streets, away
in the streets who say you knowwhat, we probably would we just
wouldn't tell anybody. You knowwhat I mean? So
Martha Stewart, I shout out toyou.
I don't know what you're doing.
To look that good at 80. But,you know, you should I mean, you
(22:57):
sell everything else. So whatyour beauty secrets are for
that?
She's just doing it all. She issuper proud of her. She didn't
look bad. I mean, that's notwhat I really want to see on
Sports Illustrated cover to behonest with you. But, you know,
I'm not gonna I'm not gonnaknock her for that.
(23:18):
So yeah, so I mean, if you're,if you're on any type of social
media, whatever, there's been abunch of memes about Andre 3000.
He cracks me up, butapparently he is releasing an
album. Friday, the 17th ofNovember.
You know, andall the hip hop heads. You know,
(23:40):
he are super excited about it.
You know, we love Andre 3000. Hewould be probably everyone's
list of top 10 MCs.
Okay, we'll go with that too.
But style. That's what I was.
He's got great style. But yeah,I mean, he's, he's a rappers
(24:02):
rapper. And so, you know, healso he's also a singer, right?
Like on like, hey, yeah. The onewho's singing who's the one?
Yeah, he does. Yeah. But he'sknown for, you know, ramen. He's
known for rap. And so sinceoutcasts broke up,
(24:26):
he has been on some featureswith other rappers.
And he'd always whatever he'sbeen on, he usually has the best
verse.
And, you know, so when it wasannounced that he's got an album
come out, everybody say yes,we're ready. We're ready for for
you know, Andre three stacks to,you know, put out some tracks we
(24:50):
ready to rock with. Then we findout that it's a non rapping
musical album.
So apparently he's playing theflute
loot on these tracks. The flu ispopular these days. Flu plays a
flop. Yeah.
That's not what we want. That'snot
(25:10):
three stacks we want but don'tyou think that's something that
is a characteristic of gettingolder is that you just don't
give a fuck. And you just want Imean, whatever you're doing,
just put it out there. Yeah, hecan do that. And I was saying he
can't do that. But he is alltime. Top rapper. We want to
hear him rap. And the firstalbum out in like, 17 years.
(25:34):
Yeah. So you know, they're gonnaget laughed at maybe he's
afraid. Oh, no, you could tellby the features he still has
raised. I mean, just like Jay Z,Jay Z is timeless. You know, he
got it. What do you think it is?
He'sput out or I read somewhere that
he says he doesn't have anythingto rap about anymore. I guess.
(25:55):
Inspired is not inspired. Youknow, he made a comment. You
know, hey, I got a couple ofnice we schedule. What am I
gonna rap about? Right. And asthat's selling himself Person of
the, you know,in their mid life, it's okay to
rap about being in your midlife. You know, you you over
(26:18):
overcame adversity, you guyssuccessful, you still know about
what's going on in life. Peoplestill want to hear about hear
your opinions about what'stranspiring in the world, not
even in rap, but just in theworld itself. And you're an
artist. So I mean, for him tosay he has nothing to talk about
rap about anymore. I just don'tbelieve that. I mean, I think he
(26:41):
does. He just, I guess he feelslike
the culture or society doesn'twant to hear him. Because he's
older. Right, but that's nottrue. I mean, like, you know, JC
is still paused, and we got tostart maybe start a petition.
Right? Well, yeah, I mean, Idon't know what I could do.
(27:03):
Maybe when this podcast ispopping, maybe we'll have a
little more clout to dosomething like that. But yeah,
well, maybe if he if the albumflops, he'll actually come on
our show.
Come on. That would be a goodfor sure. Yeah, our Q rating
would go up.
Butno, I say, man, come on, man.
You have an abilityto flow. And, you know, people
(27:27):
still appreciate that. And stillwant to hear that's why we're
all like, kind of disappointed.
That's why all these memes aregoing out about him just playing
a flute. There's all kinds ofweird like, flute me heaps.
Yeah, you know, it just it justcracks me up. But I hope right,
(27:47):
is it out? It's now it comes outtomorrow comes out tomorrow. So
let's maybe it's a maybe it's apublicity stunt. Maybe it's
maybe it's maybe it's goodincorrect news. Maybe we'll get
you know, a bomb ass, you know, project tomorrow. I'm still
going to check it out. I mean,it's yeah, yes. Does Andre 3000
(28:08):
You know, because maybe it is apublicity thing that he's trying
to write.
Right? Well, yeah. I mean, he's,he's wanting to me he's one of
those people that he don't hedon't He doesn't need what they
call a rollout. He doesn't needa bus. You know, you once you
find out day of day before Jayis coming out Drake's coming
out. Kanye is coming outBeyonce, even Taylor Swift,
(28:30):
whoever. People are going to goto it. You don't need a rollout
for days. Yeah.
Let's give him a chance. I mean,Alyssa does the whole flute
thing. And it's popular. But sheshe raps and sings she just
doesn't play the flute. I mean, this is all just instrumentals.
Okay, so I'm gonna be a verydisappointed Brother, if i All
(28:54):
right, well, let'sjust review it or whatever.
Yeah, maybe next time, we cantalk about it once we've heard
it heard it. Yeah, I mean, it'sstill very highly anticipated.
It'syou know, and I just think that
we need to get out of this.
Especially the hip hop cultureof once we get to a certain age,
(29:16):
that we don't have anything toprovide anymore or that the
public doesn't want us andright. I mean, hip hop is the
only general genre of music thatdoesn't really celebrate you
know, the elders.
We turned our back we turned ourback on for the for the most
part, you know, especially kids,I think it's getting better but
(29:37):
kids today don't want to hearJay Z they don't want to hear
well. I shouldn't say that butthey don't want to hear I think
they still older older rappersyou know that's why a lot older
rappers rapping now. Rapping nowthe old stuff, right?
I mean, you're you're closer.
You'relike the old stuff. Yeah, but
they don't. Yeah, it's just likebecause everything is driven by
(30:00):
tic tac, you know, or yeah, there's they want to see people
who look. Yeah. Well, but also Idon't think we do a good job,
maybe not even a kid, I justdon't think that we do a good
job as people in the30s 40s 50s. Of still holding
these artists up and stillmaking them relevant. I mean,
(30:23):
you know,Aerosmith Rolling Stones, they
can go on tour and sell outstadiums, and they're in their
70s and 80s. So isn't likepeople like Public Enemy,
they're still touring. Butthey're small venues. I mean,
they need to be or they're in afestival like, yeah, thank God
for something bigger. Correct?
(30:44):
Yeah, thank God for festivals.
But yeah, I mean, Public Enemyshould be selling out arenas,
just likeany of these other bands. Do.
They? Just, from my knowledge, they don't. They don't they
don't do that.
That's why they have that's whyyou hear who's gonna buy the
tickets? Right? Well, that's whywe need to do better as a as a,
(31:05):
as a hip hop community ofsaying, Hey, we still want to
support you, we still want tohear you. You know, they should
be played on radios. But I thinkas people get older, we're like,
we will hear you from our livingrooms.
Gonna go out, you know,we will appreciate you, Spotify.
Exactly. But people will go outand go reserved for Bon Jovi or
(31:27):
whatever. I mean, you know, I'msaying they these guys, it's
true. Yeah. But I think thewhole arena culture, you know,
it's a different, I don't know,you know, different demographic,
right. And then there's allthese accidents that happen. So,
you know, people get older, theywant to play it safe.
(31:47):
Yeah, but, I mean, we stillshould be able to have them
perform classics, and we stillhave a desire to go see them.
That's why I'm a little butdon't you think I wonder if it's
part of it is to once you getolder, you're like, I don't want
to go on tour, you know, I'll domy tiny death. But the old rock
guys still do that. Yeah, that'strue. Yeah, maybe it's not that
(32:10):
fun anymore. Maybe it would beinteresting to talk to some of
these older Hip Hop folks and belike, hey, yeah, I mean, it's,
it's kind of sad. I mean, youknow, a lot of them, you know,
sign shady record deals anddidn't make a lot of money out
of, you know, you have theseguys that may, you know, maybe
had, like one platinum album orsomething like that, and now
(32:33):
we're broke.
And then, you know, they have todo small, small little tours,
small little clubs with thesewith these called the chicken
circuit back in the day, and notmaking any money. I mean, well,
that's why we should have becomemanagers, you know?
Because that's also, you know, because because an artist
(32:53):
doesn't necessarily know how topromote him or herself, right?
Sure. A lot of it's having agood manager. And yeah, I
thought about that back in theday, but then you got your Suge
Knight and everything else andpeople dying from now and I'm
cool.
I'm cool. See, I go to an arenato a concert. No, I would still
(33:14):
go to arena. I know. I know. Ifit's an arena. I I feel safer in
an arena than I do. Like a clubnight club. Oh, yeah. No exits.
Yeah. No. Definitely. I woulddefinitely go to arena show.
But yeah, I'm not going to gosmall clubs or strip clubs and
(33:34):
go see ludicrous or somethinglike that. I'm not doing that.
But let's see how the album is.
I'm still hopeful. We'll see.
I'm hopeful too. I'm hopefultoo. We'll see.
Hey, Max, I got a little storyto tell you. Okay. Um, so I was
out somewhere. I think it wasout watching football the other
(33:56):
day with my friend. And theconversation
came to what we're wearing. Andso I have I have somewhat
recently and I think it's atrend, you know, like, athletic
leisure wear is is really bignow right here, right? Okay. So,
(34:19):
I have started wearing moreathletic leisure, we're not just
joggers, but like matchingjoggers and top sets and stuff
like that. Right? And they arereally, really super
comfortable. And I say, You knowwhat, why am I wearing jeans
anymore? So matching top andpants. Absolutely. You know, you
(34:40):
got your jogger bottoms. Like Isaid, like we call the suit, you
know? That's a new suit. I guessit's kind of it's a little bit
trendy, right? It's trendy. Itis you know, yeah, hip hop
artists wearing. So I mean, youknow, whatever, you know, you
have your Nike suit or whatever.
Right? Oh, youWhatever so I'm wearing one of
my suits and I got to work or noI mean I don't really go to go
(35:08):
into work but yeah I can I can Ican wear it because no one sees
me when I do that. So you knowyou got your little nice little
set of joggers you know now youknow in this spring and summer
you worry like nylon basejoggers. Now, fall and winter
and more more cotton, you know, whatever heavy material. And you
know, here I am thinking I'mlooking fly. You know, I got my
(35:31):
work set on. I got some weight.
Where were you? I was at a barwatching football or something.
Like on a Friday night or aSunday. It was Sunday. Okay. And
during the day during the day, Imean, it's Sunday. I mean, I'm
chillin, right. Yeah. Andso you know, got my little set
on and got some Jays on a coupleof pretty fresh got a nice
(35:54):
matching hat. Boom, boom. Soconversation got to like, close
and I was like, man, you knowwhat? I'm never wearing jeans
again. Why would I wear thejeans or jeans are
uncomfortable. I'm right therewith you. Right? jeans or I'll
do jeans I just don't want to dodressier than jeans. Right,
right. Because there's comfortjeans these days? I guess so. I
(36:14):
don't know. Like, you know, I'mnot wearing what a jeggings or
anything like that. You know,I'm still wearing like
expandable waistline.
But you know, I'm wearing justlike denim jeans, you know,
right?
Yeah.
Andyou get to dad jeans? No, no,
let's let's put that out there.
(36:38):
No dad jeans. No. No skinnyjeans, just a nice fit are done
with them. Dealing with what?
Jeans? For the most part, Ithought skinny jeans. Yes, I am
done with skinny jeans. Therewas a small time. This is a
trend of everybody. Not just Ithought so not just older people
because today I heard on theradio as it was like, oh,
(37:00):
there's a trend now that youknow couples there because all
the clothes are now the same.
That they all dress alike.
Right? And we recommend that youstart with like the same jacket.
So I've never been a fan of mydressing and like your partner.
Do you do that? No. Have youdone that? No, but I thought
(37:22):
about it on the radio because Iwould wear the suit. That would
be kind of cute. Like get thewhole family to wear the suit. I
mean, yeah, if you came in likea squad Yeah.
I can see that. But you just youand your husband will do it. I
guess people don't really go ina mall anymore. So somebody
somebody was making fun of youknow, they asked you know, I I
(37:44):
proclaim no more jeans from me.
And they were like, so what areyou giving up? I don't want
any you know, I you know you Ithink back of when I was
younger, and you would see thethe older people wearing. Right
like pretty muchexactly. They weren't as fitted
(38:06):
and you know, you they wouldjust be like loose baggy, you
know, whatever. You see the oldpeople whatever.
I said like that I'm not Am Ilike them, but now it's like, Oh
man, I'm not like that because Ithink we are kind of like that.
went outside today for a walkand I have white white socks on
(38:28):
sweatpants. And crocs Yeah, I'mwalking around like, oh my gosh,
I look like I'm eight years old.
Now but I'm not doing like thedad shoes, whatever that New
Balance. I'm not doing those newbalance or cool now. I'm not
doinghookah hookah shoes or whatever.
Yeah, I don't know. FreshSaturdays a nice matching
(38:56):
jogger top bottom buildingJordans have support that's my
big thing. Support do not havesupport and they're so cool. So
I have to put like insoles inthose things.
There's nothing wrong way and sothat support that. I mean, oh,
I mean, I haven't done it yet.
But I've thought about throwingsome like, Doctor shows up.
(39:22):
Right. But you know, she's like, damn, have you given up and I
was like, Oh, wait, so who wasthis? Was this somebody you're
trying to know? This is?
No, this is just some some. Somegirl who's always kind of
contrary anyway, so somebody afriend. Yeah, it was a friend.
Yeah, for sure. But it made methink about think back to when I
(39:44):
was younger and then you willsee old people where I can
picture now. Yeah, but I justthink that
has evolved. And like you saidit's become trendy now. Can you
send the Luluamends and stuff like that.
Everybody's wearing right soeverybody's super more
comfortable now wearing morecomfortable clothes and
(40:07):
particularly after COVID Youknow, right well there's no
reason right but I just Ithought what she said was dumb
and she does usually say dumbstuff but it does. It does
didn't make me think about itman. Like, I'm not wanting to
hold people now that just likewearing like, windbreaker
I'm not gonna change awindbreakers are kind of coming
(40:29):
back. Right? You told me, somaybe you need to take a picture
of yourself in your suit andwe'll put it on the Instagram.
For sure. Now, I want to saythis to everybody out there.
Like I got a lot of boys who arevery more
grammatically great, who arevery fashion forward. You know,
they'll buy like, you know, you know Gucci Emiri,
(40:51):
all kinds of snow. Now what I amwearing, and I probably should
not disclose this.
The most expensive thing I'mprobably wearing is Nike, but I
am not adverse to wearing OldNavy whatsoever. Oh, yeah. Well,
Jamie's got so stuff. Well, I dofeel a certain kind of way. When
(41:12):
I walk in. They're like, Man,I'm not too over this. But okay,
we're just gonna go with it. Youknow, I'm not I'm not you have
to have this whole thing aboutfast fashion. Right, right.
Worth it. Like, I always thinkthat I want to spend more money
on something more quality, butthen I get sucked into the Old
Navy thing too. So you guys calla fast, fast fashion? Well, fast
fashion is more like h&m andforever 21 You know, where they
(41:35):
like, turn out all these cheapclothes. Are those Chinese
brands? Like?
Sure, I know. Yeah. I've heard alot of people talking about
shine. And yeah, I mean, itlooks good. But you have to.
Yeah, or if you just, you know, you're just adding more clothes
to the landfills. You know?
Think about that. Are you reallygoing to keep them for that long
or it's very conscious of you? Inever even thought about
(42:00):
Wow, no, we just donate ourclothes to Yeah, but
they they fall apart? No, but ifyou think you fall apart
nobody's gonna wear those youknow anything about that. Right?
And then you have the tendencyis to replace them often, you
know, but I still don't spend alot of money on clothes even
though I try not to I'm becomingmore frugal in my
(42:22):
trade of getting all right. Iwas gonna say no, I become more
frugal as I've gotten older butno, that's not true. I've always
been like that. So I'm not gonnabe bringing Yeah, same with my
my mom used to always say don'tbe a slave to fashion. It's
coming from like, firstgeneration immigrant you know
the guilt.
(42:45):
So yeah, I mean, that's, that'sthat's where I'm at in life
right now. No jeans. You see ifyou see me on the street,
college boy wearing joggers andwhatever being super
comfortable.
Yeah, no chafing. Yeah, yeah, soWell, I think that's important
comfort first.
