These are 88 of my personalfavorite passages from the Bible
my top 101 verses.
The total list of verses is notin any particular order, but
(01:25):
the pairings of three for eachepisode loosely tie together by
a theme, but each verse isindependently worth memorizing.
Contact Mighty Moment if you'dlike a copy of my best of the
best list.
God's Word consistently revealsHis character as a generous
provider who delights in meetingHis children's needs.
From the Garden of Eden to theNew Jerusalem, scripture
(01:49):
testifies to God's abundantprovision.
These three passages Psalm 3410, john 1010, and Philippians 419
, form a powerful trinity ofpromises that enlighten our
understanding of God's limitlesssupply and invite us to
experience His provision inincreasingly profound ways.
(02:09):
Number 32 on our list of thetop 101 Bible verses is Psalm 34
, verse 10.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion the young lions lack
and suffer hunger, but those whoseek the Lord shall not lack
any good thing.
The New International Versionthe lions may grow weak and
(02:29):
hungry, but those who seek theLord lack no good thing.
In the Message Bible, younglions go hungry and thirst, but
those who chase after God getplenty of everything.
And the Living Bible evenstrong lions suffer from hunger
and thirst, but those who obeythe Lord lack no good thing.
(02:50):
The verse begins by telling usthat even the mighty lions go
hungry and thirsty.
This is an example that youcannot and are not strong enough
to fight your own spiritualbattles and provide for yourself
.
Every good gift comes from God.
All that we have is a blessingfrom the Lord.
God provides for us from Hisabundant bounty.
(03:13):
Even the proud and the strong, like the lions, can be humbled
by failure.
God is saying here that I willtake care of you and I am not a
God who gets a kick out ofhurting you.
In fact, I am not going towithhold any good thing from you
, like a father giving gifts tohis children.
(03:33):
If we have it and have theability to give, we'll give it
to our children.
God has both resources andability and he's going to keep
this promise to provide for hischildren.
The Hebrew word for seek in thispassage is derash, which
carries a profound meaningbeyond casual interest.
(03:54):
It conveys an intentional, persistent pursuit, a deliberate
investigation or inquiry afterGod.
This isn't a half-heartedendeavor, but a wholehearted
commitment to pursuing God aboveall else.
And the Hebrew phrase goodthing used in the verse tav
encompasses not merely materialprovision, but complete
(04:18):
well-being, wholeness, blessingand goodness in its fullest
sense.
The promise reveals that thosewho actively seek God will
experience His comprehensiveprovision in every area of life.
This isn't a promise of luxury, but of lack of nothing
essential for our spiritual andmaterial well-being according to
(04:39):
God's perfect wisdom.
King David, who penned thispsalm, understood firsthand the
reality of God's provision indesperate circumstances.
As a fugitive fleeing from KingSaul, david experienced
numerous instances where Godprovided unexpectedly, for
example, where the priestAhimelech provided the
(05:00):
consecrated bread from thetabernacle when David had no
food.
Or later when, hiding in thecave of Adullam, supporters
gathered around him bringingresources and protection when he
was at his most vulnerable.
David's journey from shepherdboy to king was marked by
seasons of apparent lack, hidingin caves, fleeing for his life.
(05:21):
Yet he could truthfully declarethat those who seek the Lord
lack no good thing.
Number 33 in our list is John10.10, reading from the New King
James Version the thief doesnot come except to steal and to
kill and to destroy.
I have come that they may havelife and that they may have it
(05:43):
more abundantly.
The New International Version.
The thief comes only to stealand kill and destroy.
I have come that they may havelife and have it to the full.
The Message Bible reads A thiefis only there to steal and kill
and destroy.
I came so you can have real andeternal life, more and better
(06:09):
life than you've ever dreamed of.
And the Living Bible thethief's purpose is to steal and
kill and destroy.
My purpose is to give them arich and satisfying life.
This verse starts with a starkcomparison between a thief and
God.
We know what a thief does Hischaracter is to steal.
(06:31):
In contrast, god's character isto give.
In fact, there are three wordsto describe the thief listed in
the verse—steal, kill anddestroy.
God does the opposite he gives,he gives eternal life and he
blesses.
God wants to bless us not onlynow, but also in the future.
(06:55):
He does not just give us a raincheck for eternal life someday
and we are on our own now.
He wants our lives, even herein this sin-torn world, to be
better.
Certainly we claim thebeautiful promises of God that
he will give us eternal life andheaven and new bodies someday.
But God is also very concernedabout your life right now.
(07:17):
He is with us, helping us,comforting us, sustaining us,
blessing us, protecting us andguiding us.
God does not just want you tosurvive, but he wants you to
thrive.
Jeremiah 29.11 reminds us thatGod has plans for us not to harm
us, but to give us hope and afuture, and for us to prosper.
(07:42):
The Greek text of John 10.10contains insights that
illuminate this verse's profoundmeaning.
The word translated asabundantly is prasann, which
means exceeding the ordinary, extraordinary, remarkable, and
conveys the idea of surpassingnormal expectation.
It suggests not merely quantitybut quality, a fullness that
(08:08):
overflows beyond ordinarymeasures.
This abundant life encompassesthe totality of what it means to
be fully alive in relationshipwith God, experiencing wholeness
, purpose, joy and peace, regardless of external
circumstances.
Jesus doesn't merely add yearsto our lives.
(08:29):
He adds life to our years.
Number 34 on our list isPhilippians 4.19, reading from
the New King James Version andmy God shall supply all your
need according to his riches inglory by Christ Jesus and the
New International Version and myGod will meet all your needs
(08:53):
according to the riches of Hisglory in Christ Jesus.
And the Message Version readsand you can be sure that God
will take care of everything youneed, his generosity exceeding
even yours, in the glory thatpours from Jesus and the Living
Bible, and I will do for youwhat you need.
(09:13):
God will supply all your needsfrom His glorious riches, which
have been given to you in ChristJesus.
The verse says that God willsupply all our needs.
This is a clear distinctionbetween need and want.
God here is promising toprovide for our needs, not our
(09:34):
wants.
I think the closer we get to God, the less physical possessions
and personal things we desireand more and more we only desire
Christ and what he wants for us.
God here is promising to takecare of us.
So, while we may not eat cakeevery day, our bread will be
sure.
Like David in Psalm 37, verse25 says I have never seen the
(09:59):
righteous forsaken or their seedbegging for bread God will
ensure we have bread, andaccording to His riches.
Since God owns everything, allis His meaning there is no limit
to how he can provide.
He will never run out ofanything that we lack.
There's an endless supply.
(10:19):
Also, the verse says all ourneeds, meaning that we will lack
nothing that we need.
I don't need to worry.
God has his eye on me.
I remember a story that was toldto me once about a little boy
who couldn't sleep.
It was during a thunderstormand he was worried about the
(10:40):
storm.
And he comes to his mother.
She responds like a motherwould tells him that it's going
to be okay.
Let her worry about the storm.
Ten minutes later the littleboy comes back and the mommy is
wondering why are you back?
And the little boy asks Mommy, are you still worrying?
God never grows tired ofworrying over us and providing
(11:04):
for us.
He is doting and he's a lovingFather, always giving what we
need, and he never stopsthinking, providing or worrying
about us.
Philippians 4.19 offersbelievers extraordinary
assurance of God's commitment tomeet their needs.
Paul wrote this from prison, yet he was confident in God's
(11:28):
faithfulness and taking care ofhim.
This isn't a blank check formaterial prosperity, but a
guarantee that God will takecare of us.
In conclusion, the threepassages explored in this
episode Psalm 3410, john 1010,and Philippians 419, form a
comprehensive portrait of God'sabundant provision.
David's testimony reminds usthat those who earnestly seek
(11:50):
God lack no good thing.
Even when circumstances suggestotherwise, jesus reveals
himself as the good shepherdwhose purpose is to provide not
merely existence but abundantlife that transcends ordinary
expectations, and Paul'sprison-penned promise assures us
(12:11):
that God's provision operatesaccording to His infinite
resources rather than humanlimitations.
Together, these passages invitebelievers into a transformed
relationship with provisionitself.
Rather than anxiously strivingor hoarding from fear of
scarcity, we can live with openhands, receiving God's abundant
(12:32):
supply and generously sharing itwith others.
This approach to provisiondoesn't guarantee freedom from
material challenges, butpromises that in every
circumstance, god's provisionwill be perfectly sufficient for
His purposes.
In our lives, as we grow intrusting the provider rather
than obsessing over provision,we discover the ultimate
(12:54):
abundance the presence of GodHimself, who satisfies our
deepest hunger and quenches ourmost profound thirst.
Friends, in our next episode, stillness and Trust, we will
continue our look at the best ofthe best 88 Bible scripture
passages by looking at numbers35 to 39 in my top 101 favorite
(13:16):
verses.
We'll look at Psalm 46.10,proverbs 3.5 and 6, and Isaiah
41.10 and 13.
3, 5 and 6 and Isaiah 41,verses 10 and 13.
I hope you've enjoyed our timetogether and I pray you have a
mighty moment with God today.
