The total list of verses is notin any particular order, but
(01:25):
the pairings of three for eachepisode loosely tie together by
a theme, but each verse isindependently worth memorizing.
Contact Mighty Moment if you'dlike a copy of my best of the
best list.
Life's relentless pace andchallenges often leave us
exhausted and disoriented.
In these three powerfulScripture passages, god offers a
(01:47):
different way to navigate ourjourney Through stillness in His
presence, complete trust in Hiswisdom and confidence in His
unfailing support.
Together they form a divineinvitation to a deeper, more
peaceful relationship with ourCreator.
In this episode we look atnumbers 35 through 39 in our top
(02:09):
101 Bible verses.
We examine Psalm 46.10,proverbs 3, verses 5 and 6, and
Isaiah 41, verses 10 and 13.
Number 35 in our list of 101favorite Bible verses is Psalm
46, verse 10.
In the New King James Version itreads Be still and know that I
(02:32):
am God.
I will be exalted among thenations.
I will be exalted in the earth.
In the New InternationalVersion it begins he says Be
still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among thenations.
I will be exalted in the earth.
The New American StandardVersion reads Stop striving and
(02:54):
know that I am God.
I will be exalted among thenations.
I will be exalted on the earth.
The Message Bible reads Stepout of the traffic, take a long,
loving look at me, your highGod, above politics, above
everything and in the LivingBible, stand silent, know that I
(03:17):
am God.
I will be honored by everynation in the world.
I believe one of the ploys andtools of the devil is to keep us
so busy and our minds sooccupied that we never pause.
We don't have time to be still.
We don't even know how to bestill.
Today, one of the morefrustrating experiences I had as
(03:41):
a younger man was I got pulledover by a police officer for
speeding, and the truth wasthere was no need for me to be
in a hurry.
I had just become so accustomedto rushing.
I rushed everywhere, even whenI didn't need to.
I'm reminded of the song byAlabama I'm in a hurry to get
things done.
I rush and rush until life's nofun.
(04:03):
All I really gotta do is liveand die.
But I'm in a hurry and don'tknow why.
God wants us to slow down andspend some time with Him, to
know Him and learn of Him, tonot get in God's way and to let
God just be God.
He is basically saying if youlet me be God, I will do
(04:25):
incredible things that everyonewill see and they will honor me.
Give me a chance to be awesomefor you.
Give up your worry and allow meto give you peace.
Allow me to give you peace.
The Hebrew word for be still inPsalm 46.10 is rafa, which means
to let go, release, surrenderor cease striving.
(04:47):
It conveys the idea of lettingyour hands drop or releasing
your grip, essentially to stopthe fight and surrender.
This is not a passiveresignation but an active
yielding to God's sovereignty.
The Hebrew word for know inthis verse is yada, which
implies intimate knowledgethrough experience, not merely
(05:11):
intellectual understanding.
Together, these words invite usto relax our grip on control
and personally experience God'sdivine nature through intimate
relationship.
Research demonstrates adramatic decline in human
attention spans over the pasttwo decades, largely attributed
to our increasing digitalimmersion.
(05:33):
A Microsoft study found thatoverall attention spans have
decreased to approximately eightseconds today, actually shorter
than a goldfish's attentionspan.
Psalm 46.10 calls us to acounter-cultural practice being
still and surrendering controlto acknowledge God's sovereignty
(05:53):
.
Numbers 36 and 37 in our listare from the passage Proverbs 3,
verses 5 and 6.
In the New King James Versionwe read Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and lean not onyour own understanding In all
your ways.
Acknowledge Him and he shalldirect your paths.
(06:14):
The New International Versionreads Trust in the Lord with all
your heart and lean not on yourown understanding.
In all your ways.
Submit to Him and he will makeyour paths straight.
The New American StandardVersion Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and do not leanon your own understanding.
(06:36):
In all your ways, acknowledgeHim and he will make your paths
straight.
The Message Version Trust Godfrom the bottom of your heart.
Don't try to figure outeverything on your own.
Listen for God's voice ineverything you do, everywhere
you go.
He's the one who will keep youon track.
And the Living Bible Trust theLord completely.
(06:59):
Don't ever trust yourself.
In everything you do, put Godfirst and he will direct you and
crown your efforts with success.
The verse says with all yourheart, which implies a complete
trust, a total submission, not apartial leaning but an
(07:20):
I'm-all-in kind of leaning.
We are just not wise enough tohandle our own journey Left up
to us.
We're going to mess it up.
Even those things I want to doI find myself struggling to
accomplish because I am frailagainst the troubles of the
world and the spiritual battleagainst the enemy.
Basically, god is simply sayingto us to acknowledge we need
(07:43):
help and that God is able and hewill, when God helps, be the
first to glorify Him,acknowledge Him in all our ways.
Often I'll ask for the Lord'shelp but yet forget to thank Him
when he does.
Hiking is a lot easier whenyou're on a flat path without
(08:04):
obstacles.
God wants to make your journeyeasier.
I want to yield to God.
Carry me, lord, through thisdifficult journey.
The Hebrew word for trust inthis verse is batak, which
conveys the idea of security andconfidence, literally to cast
(08:25):
oneself upon something with fullweight.
It pictures complete reliance, like lying down on a bed, fully
trusting it will hold you.
Proverbs 3, 5, 5 and 6challenges our natural tendency
toward self-reliance, invitingus to trust God completely, with
our whole being, rather thandepending on our limited
(08:48):
perspective.
Numbers 38 and 39 in our listof 101 favorite Bible verses is
Isaiah, 41, verses 10 and 13.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion Fear not, for I am with
you.
Be not dismayed, for I am yourGod.
I will strengthen you, yes, Iwill help you.
(09:21):
I will uphold you with myrighteous right hand, for I, the
Lord, your God.
And the New InternationalVersion I will strengthen you
and help you.
I will uphold you with myrighteous right hand, for I am
the Lord, your God, who takeshold of your right hand and says
(09:42):
to you Do not fear, I will helpyou.
The New American StandardVersion.
Do not fear, for I am with you.
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
(10:09):
Surely, I will help you.
And in the message don't panic,I'm with you.
There's no need to fear, forI'm your God.
I'll give you strength, I'llhelp you, I'll hold you steady,
keep a firm grip on you.
That's right, because I, yourGod, have a firm grip on you and
(10:30):
I'm not letting go.
I'm telling you don't panic.
The Hebrew phrase fear not,al-tira appears twice in these
verses, emphasizing God's desirefor His people to live without
fear.
The word for dismayed, tishta, conveys the idea of looking
(10:52):
around anxiously or beingoverwhelmed by circumstances.
God counters this with fivepowerful promises using active
verbs I am with you.
Presence, I will strengthen you.
Empowerment, I will help you.
Assistance, I will uphold yousupport and I will hold your
(11:16):
right hand intimate guidance.
The repeated mention of God'sright hand, yamin, is
significant as it symbolizespower, authority and honor.
In Hebrew culture.
These verses present God not asa distant deity, but as an
intimate, supportive presence,actively involved in
(11:38):
strengthening His people.
God offers comfort byaddressing our core human fears
with His personal promises.
In conclusion, these threepassages form a progressive
spiritual journey.
Psalm 46.10 invites us to stopstriving and create space to
know God intimately In thatstillness.
(11:59):
Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 teaches usto trust completely in God's
wisdom rather than our ownlimited understanding.
And from that place of trust,Isaiah 41, verses 10 and 13,
assures us that we need not fearlife's challenges because God
personally strengthens, helpsand upholds us with His
(12:21):
righteous hand.
Together, these scripturesreveal a God who invites us into
relationship rather thanreligious performance.
He calls us to thetransformative practices of
stillness and trust, not toburden us with more spiritual
to-dos but to free us into thepeace, wisdom and strength that
(12:43):
comes from authentic connectionwith Him.
As we learn to be still trustbeyond our understanding and
receive His help, we discoverthat God doesn't just guide our
way.
He holds our hand every step ofthe way.
Friends, in our next episode, call Upon the Lord, we will
(13:03):
