The total list of verses is notin any particular order, but
(01:24):
the pairings of three for eachepisode loosely tie together by
a theme, but each verse isindependently worth memorizing.
Contact Mighty Moment if you'dlike a copy of my best of the
best list.
In this episode we look atnumbers 43, 44, and 45 from our
list of the top 101 Bible versesand 45 from our list of the top
(01:48):
101 Bible verses.
We'll explore three keypassages of Scripture that guide
us in casting our burdens uponthe Lord Psalm 55, 22, which
invites us to release our caresto God.
Matthew 6, 33, which directsour priorities, and Psalm 23, 6,
which assures us of God'sperpetual goodness and mercy.
Number 43 in our list of thetop 101 Bible verses is Psalm
(02:11):
55.22.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion Cast your burden on the
Lord and he shall sustain you.
He shall never permit therighteous to be moved.
In the New InternationalVersion Cast your cares on the
Lord and he will sustain you.
He will never let the righteousbe shaken.
(02:33):
The Good News Bible reads Leaveyour troubles with the Lord and
he will defend you.
He never lets good people bedefeated.
And the Passion TranslationGive your burdens to the Lord
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly toslip and fall.
The Message version Pile yourtroubles on God's shoulders.
(02:56):
He'll carry your load, he'llhelp you out.
He'll never let good peopletopple into ruin.
And the Clear Word versionreads I will cast my burdens on
the Lord and he will sustain me.
He will not forget those whotry to do right.
He will never allow therighteous to be moved.
(03:17):
I am intrigued with the firstword of this verse, the command
to cast.
We've seen this word before inan earlier verse in our list.
Remember it 1 Peter 5, 7.
Casting all your care upon Him,for he cares for you.
Casting conveys forcefullygiving it up, relinquishing
(03:37):
control of something God wantsus to give Him our burdens.
Now, burdens are quite a broadtopic.
What are burdens?
Anything that is holding youback or weighing you down.
Jesus invited us to come to Him.
All you who are weary and heavyladen.
This is an opportunity to haveour burdens removed.
(04:01):
In order for God to sustain us,we must give Him everything,
give it all up.
Physically, this cannot happenuntil we no longer are carrying
the weight and God is.
Mentally, this cannot happen ifwe continue to worry or fret or
have anxiety about the burdenwe supposedly just gave to the
(04:23):
Lord.
We have to give it up.
We have to cast all our burdenson Him and he will sustain us.
I am reminded of an oldChristian song Give them All to
Jesus by Phil Johnson.
The chorus goes Give them all, give them all to Jesus, and he
(04:45):
will turn your sorrow into joy.
With the Lord, we only moveforward.
He will not retreat, he willnot fall back.
When he takes our burdens, heremoves them and we no longer
will be plagued by them.
God does not use them to hauntor taunt us or remind us later
(05:06):
on about them.
God is our solid foundation.
We will not falter when he isguiding and sustaining us.
Even when it seems like we areslipping, his hand reaches down
and keeps us up.
Psalm 55.22 invites us torelease our burdens to God, even
(05:27):
those that seem impossible, which opens the channel for His
supernatural sustaining power toflow into our lives.
Number 44 on our list is Matthew6.33, the divine priority that
puts everything in order.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion but seek first the
kingdom of God and Hisrighteousness, and all these
(05:50):
things shall be added to you.
The New International Versionreads but seek first His kingdom
and His righteousness, and allthese things will be given to
you as well.
The Passion Translation.
So, above all, constantly chaseafter the realm of God's
kingdom and the righteousnessthat proceeds from Him, the
(06:16):
realm of God's kingdom and therighteousness that proceeds from
Him.
Then all these less importantthings will be given to you
abundantly.
The Message Version reads Steepyour life in God-reality,
god-initiative, god-provisions.
Don't worry about missing out, you'll find.
All your everyday humanconcerns will be met.
And the clear word it reads somake God's kingdom and His
(06:40):
righteousness first in your life, and all the other things will
be given to you as you need them.
This verse demonstrates a matterof priorities what is most
important to us?
It's easy to answer Jesus tothis question when asked at
church.
But when the rubber meets theroad, what does our life show?
There's an easy test todetermine where our priorities
(07:04):
lie what are we spending ourmoney on and what are we
spending our time doing?
Our bank records and ourcalendars will reveal the truth.
What do they show for you?
Sometimes our priorities arejust out of whack.
We're imbalanced.
We're pursuing improper goals.
Habits and addictions can skewour priorities.
(07:26):
Peer pressure can alter ourpriorities as well.
The world wants us to pursuemoney, power, pleasure,
enjoyment, but the truth is,when we pursue God, he grants us
all that we need.
What is it that we truly needanyway?
The true things we need Peace, joy, direction, wisdom,
(07:50):
contentment, things that God cangive.
We pursue God, and all you everneeded will be given to you.
In this verse, the Greek wordseek zeteo implies continuous,
passionate pursuit, not casualinterest, and the Greek word
first, proton establishesabsolute priority, placing this
(08:15):
seeking before all otherconcerns.
What we seek is God's kingdom, basileia, his rule and authority
in every aspect of our life.
Jesus presents not stressmanagement advice, but a
revolutionary approach thatplaces relationship with God at
the center and trusts Him foreverything else.
(08:37):
Matthew 6.33 presents arevolutionary approach to living
by placing God's kingdom andrighteousness as our highest
priority.
Number 45 on our list is Psalm23,.
Verse 6, the divine promise ofperpetual goodness and eternal
home.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion Surely goodness and
(08:59):
mercy shall follow me all thedays of my life and I will dwell
in the house of the Lordforever.
The New International Versionreads Surely your goodness and
love will follow me all the daysof my life and I will dwell in
the house of the Lord forever.
In the New American StandardVersion Surely goodness and
(09:20):
lovingkindness will follow meall the days of my life and I
will dwell in the house of theLord forever.
The Good News Bible reads theGood News Bible reads I know
that your goodness and love willbe with me all my life and your
house will be my home as longas I live.
The Passion Translation readsso why would I fear the future,
(09:44):
for your goodness and lovepursue me all the days of my
life.
Then afterward, when my life isthrough, I'll return to your
glorious presence to be foreverwith you.
And the Message Bible readsyour beauty and love chase after
me every day of my life.
I'm back home in the house ofGod for the rest of my life.
(10:08):
And lastly, in the Living Bible, psalm 23 is one of the most
famous chapters in the Bible.
You might recognize the firstpart of the chapter.
It's hard to just select oneverse out of this awesome
(10:32):
chapter.
Certainly, the verse and thewhole chapter are worth
memorizing.
The verse starts out with anassurance this is surely going
to happen.
A natural consequence ofpursuing God is that we find out
that he's pursuing us Godtirelessly, is pursuing you, us,
(10:55):
god tirelessly is pursuing you.
He desires you to be saved, blessed, redeemed and enjoy His
goodness.
No matter what we do, god isthere, seeking to guide us,
guide us into His paths ofrighteousness, happiness.
Nothing can stop His pursuitand nothing can stop His love.
David, who wrote this, ismaking a decision here as to
whose side he is on and willcontinue to be on—God's side.
(11:17):
He has tested the Lord andfound Him to be faithful and
loving and merciful.
He does not want to liveanywhere else except with God
and in His will.
I think of the verse in theBible, joshua 24, 15,.
In His will.
I think of the verse in theBible Joshua 24, 15,.
(11:37):
As for me and my house, we willserve the Lord.
I pray.
It is yours and my decision aswell.
The word for goodness, tav, isnot just moral goodness, but
prosperity, beauty and wellness.
The same word was used when Goddeclared creation good.
The verb follow, radaf means topursue, to chase.
David uses this term to showGod's goodness isn't trailing
(12:00):
behind but pursuing us.
Psalm 23.6 reveals God'spromise of actively pursuing us
throughout life and intoeternity.
We see that God's goodness andmercy are not passive followers
but determined pursuers.
In conclusion, these threepassages reveal a divine
progression for handling life'sburdens.
(12:21):
Psalm 55.22 invites us to thedeliberate act of casting our
cares upon the Lord, promisingHis sustaining power in return.
This leads naturally to Matthew6.33, where we discover that
ordering our prioritiesaccording to God's kingdom,
placing His rule inrighteousness first, results in
(12:43):
all our needs being provided.
The journey culminates in Psalm23.6, and its assurance that
God's goodness and mercyactively pursue us throughout
our lives, guiding us towardeternal dwelling with Him.
Friends, in our next episode, god's Forgiveness, we will
continue our look at the best ofthe best 88 Bible Scripture

passages by looking at numbers46, 47, and 48 in my top 101

John 1, verse 9.
