SPEAKER_00 (01:02):
Salvation and
Eternal Life.
In this episode of MightyMoment, we continue our 31-day
journey looking at the best ofthe best scriptures from the
Bible.
These are incredible passagesthat you'll want to remember.
These are 88 of my personalfavorite passages from the
Bible, my top 101 verses.
The total list of verses is notin any particular order, but the
(01:25):
pairings of three for eachepisode loosely tied together by
a theme.
But each verse is independentlyworth memorizing.
Contact Mighty Moment if you'dlike a copy of my best of the
best list.
In this episode, we'll belooking at Romans 6.23, John
3.16, and Psalm 103 verses 2 to4.
(01:47):
Salvation is the heartbeat ofthe Christian faith, a gift from
God that offers eternal life andhope.
In this episode, we will journeythrough three foundational
scriptures, each illuminating aunique facet of God's grace and
love, and discover how theyunite to offer us assurance,
transformation, and everlastingjoy.
(02:10):
We will look at the profoundthemes of salvation and eternal
life as presented in these keyscriptures.
Each passage offers a uniqueperspective on God's redemptive
plan, his boundless love, andthe hope that anchors our faith.
Number 80 in our list is Romans6.23.
(02:34):
Reading in the New King JamesVersion, for the wages of sin is
death, but the gift of God iseternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Reading from the New AmericanStandard Version, for the wages
of sin is death, but thegracious gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(02:56):
And the Good News Bible reads,For sin pays its wage, death,
but God's free gift is eternallife, in union with Christ
Jesus, our Lord.
The Passion translation reads,For sin's meager wages is death,
but God's lavish gift is lifeeternal, found in your union
(03:19):
with our Lord Jesus, theAnointed One.
The message version reads, Workhard for sin your whole life and
your pension is death, but God'sgift is real life, eternal life,
delivered by Jesus, our Master.
And God's Word translationreads, The payment for sin is
(03:42):
death, but the gift that Godfreely gives is everlasting
life, found in Christ Jesus, ourLord.
This verse tells us what thepenalty and result of sin is
death.
Then we read in Romans 3 23 thatall have sinned, meaning each of
(04:02):
us are under the curse andpenalty of sin.
We are in a pickle that wecannot get out of on our own.
We need help.
We need a Savior to change ourdestiny.
Not only is this revelationincredible, that God wants to
give us eternal life instead ofwhat we deserve death, but it is
(04:23):
a gift given to us freely.
And Ephesians 2, 8 and 9 remindsus that this gift cannot be
bought or earned, as it issolely in the grace of Christ we
receive it.
Lest anyone boast they didsomething for it.
In 2019, billionaire Robert F.
(04:43):
Smith stunned the graduatingclass of Morehouse College by
announcing during hiscommencement speech that he and
his family would pay off thestudent loans of all 396
graduates, a gift valued ataround$34 to$40 million.
This act freed the new graduatesfrom the heavy burden of debt.
(05:05):
The spiritual analogy to Romans623 is clear.
Just as Smith paid a debt thegraduates could not easily pay
themselves, Romans 623 teachesthat the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternallife in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin earns us a debt, spiritualdeath, that we cannot repay.
(05:27):
But God through Jesus offers usthe free gift of forgiveness and
eternal life.
eighty one on our list is thefamous John three sixteen, the
depth of divine love.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion, for God so loved the
world that he gave his onlybegotten Son, that whoever
(05:48):
believes in him should notperish, but have everlasting
life.
Reading from the NewInternational Version, for God
so loved the world that he gavehis one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shallnot perish, but have eternal
life.
In the New American StandardVersion, for God so loved the
(06:10):
world that he gave his only son,so that everyone who believes in
him will not perish but haveeternal life.
The Passion translation reads,For here is the way God loved
the world.
He gave his only unique Son as agift.
So now everyone who believes inhim will never perish, but
(06:31):
experience everlasting life.
The message version reads, Thisis how much God loved the world.
And this is why, so that no oneneed be destroyed.
By believing in him, anyone canhave a whole and lasting life.
(06:51):
And the Amplified Bible reads,For God so greatly loved and
dearly prized the world, that heeven gave his one and only
begotten Son, so that whoeverbelieves and trusts in him as
Savior shall not perish, buthave eternal life.
And the clear word reads, ForGod loved the world so much that
(07:15):
he freely gave his only Son tocome here and die, that whoever
believes in Him will not perish, but will be given eternal life.
This is perhaps one of the mostknown and best loved Bible
verses in the entire Scriptures.
Because it so succinctlysummarizes the gift of salvation
(07:37):
and clearly explains what Jesusdid for us on the cross.
Motivated out of love, God wasnot content to let us receive
what we deserve for our sin, death.
The wages of sin is death.
No, he personally got involved.
Not only is this gift amazingand undeserved, all may receive
(08:00):
it.
It, salvation, is exclusivelyoffered through Jesus Christ,
but it is not exclusive to whoit is offered to.
Whoever accepts Jesus mayreceive this incredible gift of
a changed destiny.
This gift is freely offered toyou and me alike.
(08:21):
All may experience the grace andjoy and forgiveness and renewal
through Jesus Christ.
Numbers 82, 83, and 84 on ourlist are found in Psalm 103,
verses 2 to 4.
The overflow of God's benefits.
Reading from the New King JamesVersion, Bless the Lord, O my
(08:43):
soul, and forget not all hisbenefits?
Who forgives all youriniquities?
Who heals all your diseases?
Who redeems your life fromdestruction?
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies?
Reading from the NewInternational Version, praise
the Lord my soul, and forget notall his benefits.
(09:07):
Who forgives all your sins andheals all your diseases?
Who redeems your life from thepit and crowns you with love and
compassion?
Reading from the New AmericanStandard Version, Bless the Lord
my soul and do not forget any ofhis benefits.
Who pardons all your guilt?
Who heals all your diseases?
(09:28):
Who redeems your life from thepit?
Who crowns you with favor andcompassion?
The Good News Bible reads,Praise the Lord my soul, and do
not forget how kind He is.
He forgives all my sins andheals all my diseases.
He keeps me from the grave andblesses me with love and mercy.
(09:48):
The Passion translation reads,Yahweh, you were my soul's
celebration.
How could I ever forget themiracles of kindness you've done
for me?
You kissed my heart withforgiveness, in spite of all
I've done.
You heal me inside and out fromevery disease.
You've rescued me from hell andsaved my life.
(10:10):
You've crowned me with love andmercy.
And finally the message Biblereads, O my soul, bless God.
Don't forget a single blessing.
He forgives your sins, everyone.
He heals your diseases, everyone.
He redeems you from hell, savesyour life.
(10:31):
He crowns you with love andmercy, a paradise crown.
This verse speaks to me becauseI tend to have a bad memory when
it comes to how good God is tome.
I need to be more intentional inremembering how incredible God
is.
He has done, is doing, andcontinues to do such wonderful
(10:51):
things in my life.
He has never let me down, he hasnever not accepted me back, he
has never not shown me greatmercy and forgiveness.
What a wonderful God He is.
Something that I've begun to dothat helps me remember is
actually keeping a book ofremembrance and praise to God.
(11:11):
Every day I take a moment towrite down the things I'm
thankful for, the praises andthe specific answers to prayer.
Reading this book reminds me ofGod's awesome goodness, so I
will not forget.
In conclusion, Romans 6 23, John3.16, and Psalm 103 2-4 together
(11:33):
form a beautiful tapestry ofGod's saving work.
We see the seriousness of sinand the gift of eternal life,
the depth of God's love inChrist, and the daily benefits
of His mercy and restoration.
Salvation is not earned, butreceived.
Eternal life is not just afuture hope, but a present
(11:55):
reality.
And God's love is both thefoundation and the goal of our
faith.
Let us live each day ingratitude, sharing the hope we
have found with a world in needof grace.
Romans 6.23 showed us theconsequence of sin, death, and
the priceless gift of God,eternal life.
(12:17):
John 3.16 revealed themotivation behind this gift,
unconditional love.
And Psalm 103 verses 2-4 invitedus to reflect on and praise God
for the benefits that flow fromthis salvation, forgiveness,
healing, redemption, andcrowning mercy.
(12:37):
God's gift of eternal life isnot given because of our merit,
but because of His grace.
As recipients of such a gift, our hearts can't help but
respond in praise.
Today and every day, may we livein awe of the salvation we've
received and walk boldly in thehope of eternal life.
(12:59):
