concrete coatings and epoxyflooring can transform garages,
basements, patios and commercialspaces across Colorado's front
(00:25):
range.
So grab your favorite beverage, sit back and dive into the
world of high-quality coatings.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Floor coatings don't
just protect your concrete.
They can also work hand-in-handwith custom storage solutions
to completely transform yourgarage or workspace.
In this episode, David Nanegaexplains how Mile High Coatings
integrates storage solutionswith flooring for a seamless,
functional upgrade.
Welcome back everyone.
I'm Millie M, co-host andproducer, back in the studio
with David Nanega, president ofMile High Coatings.
(01:01):
How's it going?
Great.
How are you of Mile HighCoatings?
How's it going?
I'm great.
How are you?
I'm doing quite well andlooking forward to learning how
you bring together sleek floorsand smart storage to create
truly elevated spaces.
How does Storage Solutionsintegration work with floor
coatings?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Well, typically, when
it comes to what we provide, we
usually install cabinets andoverhead racks and slat wall
accessories after we've done, you know, a four coating
installation.
A lot of times, you know, wekind of live in the garage in
terms of what we can do.
We can provide drywallfinishing services and then we
(01:42):
can paint the drywall if needed.
We can obviously do the floorand then kind of the final piece
a lot of times is the cabinets.
Usually the only thing we wedon't get into is electrical
with lighting and everything so.
So the nice thing about storage, obviously from our perspective
, is that it's reallycustomizable and the cabinets
(02:04):
are made to order, built toorder.
So I'll come out, we'll get ameasurement of the space, talk
about what the needs are thecustomer, of course and kind of
see what their vision is.
We can do tall cabinets, basecabinets with bench tops,
integrate some slat wall thathave accessories for hooks and
(02:26):
being able to hang things andeverything.
Another advantage to havingMile High Coatings install your
cabinets is that we provide alifetime warranty on the
cabinets, the manufacturerprovides a lifetime warranty on
their systems, which is great.
So that, coupled with thelifetime warranty that we offer
with the floor, you're reallybeing taken care of from top to
(02:49):
bottom on everything that we do.
So you know there's againleading.
You know some of the systemsthat we provide.
We have drawers on the basecabinets.
There's multiple doorconfigurations, the shelves are
an inch thick.
They provide 100 pounds ofcapacity of storage, which is
(03:10):
actually quite a bit per shelf, and they're just very sturdy,
very well built.
I have them in my own garageand I love them.
And I actually have some in myshop as well and they are very
durable that the hardware issoft closed, so you know you
can't slam the, you know thedoors, you can't even the
(03:31):
drawers are super nice glidingdrawers.
I joke that they're actuallynicer than my kitchen cabinets,
which is basically true.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Anyways.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, so we can
really design a custom solution
that's tailored to eachcustomer's garage and needs.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
That's great, because
I feel like more people use
their garages for storage thanits actual purpose of putting
their car in there, and to knowthat, no matter how you use your
garage or what you store in thegarage, that you all provide
solutions specific to thoseperson's needs so they won't
feel like any of that space iswasted.
Do you recommend installing thestorage before or after the
(04:09):
coating is applied?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
So usually our order
of operations is that we would
paint, if needed, the walls andceilings first, and then we
would do the floor coatinginstallation and then we install
the cabinets.
That's because the cabinets areoften installed to the wall.
They're floating usually fourto six inches off of the floor,
and so we want to have thatfloor finished, but we don't
(04:32):
want to have to try to getunderneath the finished cabinets
when we're doing the floorcoating installation.
So having a wide, open floorwhen we do that is nice, and
then obviously we can come inand do the cabinets and then,
once we're done with that, thegarage is ready to go and ready
to use.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Can you match the
cabinets and the flooring?
I know we talked before aboutjust all the different colors
and designs and things you cando with the floor.
Can you match the cabinets andthe floor aesthetically?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
There are a lot of
really nice finish options.
There's grays, tans, browns, there's a lot of different
visual textures.
You know wood looks to thecabinet, so there are certainly
probably an endless number ofcombinations that you can do
between the floor and thecabinets to really make it
(05:17):
unique but also cohesive withthe whole.
You know garage I mean once weget done, it feels like the
garage is a finished space thatyou know people love to be in
and just you know you pull inyour garage at the end of a long
day or something and you knowit doesn't feel messy and
(05:38):
cluttered and everything.
It's a little more welcomingfor sure.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
We love beautiful
spaces and, like you said, I
know that's a mental stressorthat's lifted when you don't
look at your garage as anothertask or another thing to do.
It's another just beautifulspace and part of your home.
So what's the biggest mistakepeople make when planning
storage around their flooring?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
I think maybe one
thing that people maybe don't
realize is that they tend towant to get it right right away,
meaning sometimes people canactually order too much storage
or they think they need to maxout storage in every open space,
(06:19):
and what I typically will tellthem is is let's start with what
you know you need.
That could be as little as onecabinet, and then you know once
you have that cabinet filled, the storage there.
You know we can, we can add onthat.
That's maybe one of, maybe nota mistake, but one thing some
(06:39):
people don't always realize isoh yeah.
I can start with one or two orthree cabinets on this wall or
that wall.
And then as I need more, I canjust order another cabinets.
It's fairly simple to do, sincethey are made to order, and so
I'd say that's probably thebiggest, biggest thing that you
know, because you know again, people want to feel like they
(07:01):
need to get it right the firsttime.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Always easier to add
on than to.
You know, do it all at once andstart taking away.
Thank you so much, David.
