SPEAKER_06 (00:10):
Welcome back to
Miles Between Us.
I'm Misty.
SPEAKER_02 (00:13):
I'm Melissa.
SPEAKER_06 (00:14):
So, you know, we
talk about our show being
unscripted, unedited, in reallife, right?
So for our listeners and ourviewers, this is probably one of
the most real episodes we'regonna have.
Well, we might haveprocrastinated a little bit.
And I might have put a littlebit of stress on Melissa.
(00:36):
She doesn't mean we, she meansshe.
It's true.
It's true.
SPEAKER_02 (00:40):
So today is Monday.
SPEAKER_06 (00:42):
Today is Monday, and
this episode comes out on
Thursday.
So while you're listening to it,that means that we have recorded
and Melissa has done her magicand it's come out to you.
So hopefully.
You know, it wasn't intentional.
Like I was sick.
I mean, let's be real.
There was this sickness goingaround.
You have bronchitis.
I had bronchitis.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
(01:03):
Yeah.
So so just so you know, occasionally you're gonna get
these maybe last minute.
Oh shit.
We wanna like visit with all ofyou because we love you and
we're gonna stay consistent.
Scramble.
Scramble! So Melissa's a rockstar.
Thank you.
You owe me.
I do owe you.
So all right, so let's let's getinto today.
(01:26):
Fall.
SPEAKER_02 (01:27):
Fall everything.
SPEAKER_06 (01:28):
Fall everything.
Well, fall and or Christmas, because we're not getting to
Christmas yet.
Well, okay, so Melissa's notgetting to Christmas yet, but my
house looks like a Hallmarkchannel in the Winter Wonderland
already.
Yeah.
So we're getting ahead ofourselves because we're gonna be
doing a cozy or cringe on thatone.
Okay, so let's let's talk aboutthis.
So cozy cringe and stories alongthe way.
SPEAKER_02 (01:50):
Okay, so we're doing
fall cozy or fall cringe.
Pumpkin spice, everything.
SPEAKER_06 (01:56):
Yeah, absolutely
not.
Pumpkin pie is the only pumpkinthing I like.
SPEAKER_02 (02:01):
Have you ever had a
pumpkin spice latte or anything
like that?
SPEAKER_06 (02:04):
I've never had a
latte in my life.
SPEAKER_02 (02:07):
I bet you have.
Lola's gotten you one before andyou didn't know it.
Yeah, she did, because it's likethe white mocha latte or
whatever.
No, you had it.
Okay, you had it.
It's good.
SPEAKER_06 (02:15):
I'm not
intentionally ever getting a
latte, people.
Just give me a coffee or a hotchocolate.
SPEAKER_02 (02:20):
Flannel shirts.
SPEAKER_06 (02:22):
You know, so flannel
shirts were super fun for a
while, and then I think theykind of went away.
But I cozy or cringe.
SPEAKER_05 (02:30):
Cozy, I bought a new
flannel shirt.
I've never seen you in aflannel.
I just bought a flannel shirtlast week.
SPEAKER_06 (02:35):
What color?
It's it's got blues and reds init, and it's longer, so I'm
gonna plan on wearing it withsome leggings.
And yeah, how about you?
What do you think?
SPEAKER_02 (02:46):
I think it's how you
dress it up because I have a
couple flannels, but I don'tlove the way I've been styling
them, so I'm in between.
Okay, okay.
Fall scented candles.
SPEAKER_06 (02:58):
So I love them.
When you think fall scentedcozy.
So I last night I had two goinginto my house, and they were I
want to say they were like not anot a gingerbread, but they were
like a a cookie nutmeg typesmell, and they were incredible.
(03:18):
So how about you?
SPEAKER_02 (03:19):
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
I'm not a big vanilla, likesugar cookie kind of thing.
Makes me more nauseous, but morelike that like spice.
I don't know.
I think I'm more into like thewhat is it, the balsam or the
Fraser Fur or whatever.
Yeah.
That I like that smell becauseit's more cozy and refreshing
almost.
But I do like, you know, thewhat is it?
Like spices.
SPEAKER_06 (03:39):
I love the cinnamon
ones.
SPEAKER_02 (03:40):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (03:41):
Those ones are good.
Hallmark movies.
Okay, so I think everybodyshould watch a Hallmark movie.
And I know what you're about totell me.
Well, there are some people whoare anti, right?
And they just won't.
And then there are other peoplewho do nothing but have an
absolute calendar and watch themall the time.
And then there's people like mewho record them.
I want to see the latest one.
(04:03):
And I know that our listeners orour viewers are gonna say,
Misty, they all have the exactsame plot.
Maybe that's what makes it cozy.
They do.
That's what makes it cozy, isthat there's always a happy
ending and usually a love story.
So usually there is okay, there's always the let's be
(04:23):
real.
The rest of the world sucks.
Don't watch the news, watchHallmark.
SPEAKER_05 (04:28):
I'm just saying.
What about the time change?
Cringe, complete cringe.
SPEAKER_02 (04:33):
So bad.
We don't have it as bad as likeup in Colorado because they have
the mountains where it's dark atlike 3 34.
SPEAKER_06 (04:39):
Well, that's true,
but here's the big problem.
It's not even like the actualtime change, it's that my body
doesn't know the time changed.
So I normally would get up at 5a.m., which now means I get up
at 4 a.m.
You're an overachiever.
SPEAKER_04 (04:55):
Yeah, there's that.
SPEAKER_02 (04:58):
My problem is it's
like a mental game for the first
couple of weeks.
I I try and leave my oven clockon what it would be.
SPEAKER_06 (05:06):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (05:06):
But mom kept
changing it.
I think I had to go behind herback like five different times
to change it back to what wasthe time.
So that way in my mind, with mytoddler schedule, I'm like,
okay, it would be this time, butit is now this time.
So that means I need to put himdown.
And it's just madness for acouple of weeks.
SPEAKER_06 (05:24):
So yeah, well, and
seasonal depression's real,
right?
Like I think a lot of peoplestruggle with that.
Time change doesn't help.
And so, you know, you get lessdaylight, and so you're just
gonna find fun activities to doinside.
SPEAKER_04 (05:36):
Cozy things.
Cozy things.
SPEAKER_06 (05:38):
Yeah, absolutely.
So I really want to touch onthis as we're recording this.
Tomorrow is Veterans Day, sowhen you hear or see this, it
will be a couple of days afterVeterans Day.
But we want to take the time tothank veterans now.
Like, let's do something new andlet's thank veterans every day.
They don't just need a day inNovember.
(05:58):
Like, thank you for anybody whoserved to the families that have
supported them, the husbands andwives that took care of the
families while somebody wasdeployed.
Thank you for what you've donefor each of us.
SPEAKER_02 (06:11):
Yeah, a major
sacrifice, and thank you to our
family, our friends, and we dothe 15% discount at Bob's too
every day.
SPEAKER_06 (06:20):
Yeah, and we've
never missed being closed on
Veterans Day.
And I actually think more peopleneed to do that.
SPEAKER_02 (06:26):
A lot of places
aren't closed, actually.
SPEAKER_06 (06:28):
Yeah, that's they
should be because that's just
one small way that we can givewe have veterans that work for
us, and so they get that dayoff.
But I think you should take thatday and go do something to thank
a veteran, go to a Veterans Dayparade or do something like
that.
But again, we're gonna ask ourlisteners and our viewers to
(06:48):
think a veteran every day.
SPEAKER_02 (06:50):
Yeah, I think that's
good.
Oh, I had one last cozier cringedecorating for Christmas before
Thanksgiving.
SPEAKER_06 (06:57):
Well, we already
know where I feel about this.
It is totally cozy.
There will be glitter in myhouse for the next two months.
SPEAKER_02 (07:04):
This is the earliest
you've ever decorated.
SPEAKER_06 (07:06):
It is the earliest
I've ever decorated.
Again, I was sick and I wantedsomething to kind of cheer me
up.
And I wanted to create, Idesigned some new stuff this
year and then did some arts andcrafts.
And so I want to be able toenjoy it for as long as
possible.
And listen, if I gotta go to adamn store and I gotta see
Halloween, Thanksgiving,Christmas, and quite possibly
(07:28):
Easter all in there at the exactsame time, I should be able to
go at my house and seeChristmas.
So that's why I just don't go tothe stores.
Well, there's that.
SPEAKER_02 (07:36):
But yeah, it's
actually really nice, you know.
The Oh, I love it.
I don't want to sound like theGrinch, but I can't mentally
settle into it until the latterhalf of November.
SPEAKER_06 (07:47):
Yeah, I mean, the
good part is that I can take my
time, right?
It's not like this mad dash onone day or weekend to decorate.
SPEAKER_02 (07:54):
Like you also put up
way more decorations than I do
too.
SPEAKER_06 (07:56):
You have a big
house.
Yeah.
So our dad was he was Mr.
Claws.
SPEAKER_02 (08:02):
He won the best
neighborhood a couple times on
gifts and on Sharon.
SPEAKER_06 (08:06):
Yeah, he absolutely
loved decorating for Christmas.
And again, with a granddaughterand a nephew, Melissa gave me a
little bit of hell because Ibought a sleigh.
There's actually a sleigh in myliving room.
And she said, Why did you buythat?
What are you gonna do with it?
I said, It's for the kids, andshe looked at me like I was
stupid.
SPEAKER_05 (08:26):
And then her son
climbed inside of it and thought
it was great.
SPEAKER_02 (08:29):
See, I think we're
missing a bigger part of this.
I said, What did you pay forthat sled?
Because if it was ten dollars,it don't matter.
But if it's a hundred andsomething dollars for this tiny
little sled, but I'm also thecheap sister, so there's that.
SPEAKER_06 (08:43):
I don't splurge as
much as you.
Well, it's not true.
We splurge on different things.
SPEAKER_02 (08:46):
What do I splurge
on?
SPEAKER_06 (08:48):
Organic food.
SPEAKER_02 (08:49):
Oh, that's like a
dollar more, please.
Groceries in general aresplurge.
SPEAKER_06 (08:54):
Yes, that's true.
SPEAKER_02 (08:56):
Yeah.
We can talk about what do youeven do during fall?
Like, what's your favoritethings to do?
SPEAKER_06 (09:02):
So I really, really,
really like going to some of the
festivals and things that go on.
So some of the craft shows, farmers markets.
And we just went to one.
Yeah, farmers markets.
I used to really enjoy football, but we're not gonna talk about
that.
We're just gonna say that we'regonna always be a null.
SPEAKER_02 (09:22):
Well, and football
in general with Thanksgiving
coming up, just having somethingon in the background, because I
don't really watch football inanyways.
And I'm not gonna plan mySaturdays around.
SPEAKER_06 (09:32):
We're we're not
alone as as Seminole fans.
We're not alone.
There's a lot of teams that havelost a lot of coaches, and
there's a lot of um controversy.
So what used to bring me greatjoy this fall has not brought me
great joy, and so I'm gonna takegreat joy in the camaraderie of
friendships and hanging out withpeople, i.e., tailgating.
unknown (09:57):
Fair enough.
SPEAKER_06 (09:57):
Yeah, I mean, other
things that I think we we enjoy
getting together, you know, there's always something kind of
going on this time of year.
SPEAKER_02 (10:06):
Yeah, we've got your
birthday coming up.
SPEAKER_06 (10:08):
We do have my
birthday coming up.
I love birthdays, actually.
SPEAKER_02 (10:12):
You don't think it's
cursed anymore?
SPEAKER_06 (10:14):
Oh no, change it
too.
It's uh this year's this year'sdifferent than other years, I
will say.
However, I do love birthdays.
I like looking back on the yearand realizing changes maybe that
I've made or just things thatI'm absolutely blessed for.
I got to experience and and haveanother ride around the sun.
Things that I want to happen inthe next year.
(10:36):
It's a good time toself-reflect.
Yeah, yeah.
And it's a good time, honestly, just to be together.
I mean, I enjoy getting all ofus together, and chocolate cake
is my favorite, so it's anexcuse to have a chocolate cake.
SPEAKER_05 (10:47):
Yeah.
That's gonna be great.
Yeah, so that's super fun.
Let's talk about some of thethings that you like to do.
SPEAKER_02 (10:53):
Well, I just went to
Thomasville for dinner, and I
did not realize they werealready decorated too.
Everyone is just on top of itthis year, I guess.
SPEAKER_05 (11:01):
And so it was the
world be sucking, so we're gonna
suck less and have some joy fromChristmas.
SPEAKER_02 (11:06):
I guess so.
But it was already super cozyand I went at night, so it was,
you know, that kind of ambiance, but the leaves were all on the
ground, stores are decorated.
It was a little bit hot though, was the whole I'm staring at a
Christmas tree because I justtalk about this.
SPEAKER_06 (11:22):
If y'all are if
you're actually viewing this on
YouTube, you will see today thatMelissa and I have sweaters on.
I have boots on, and yesterdaywe were in tank tops.
So this is our life.
It's 81 day, and then tonightit's gonna be 26 degrees.
So, yeah, there's that.
Fall that's a fun fall thingthough, right?
(11:42):
With the boots and the the cuteclothes.
SPEAKER_02 (11:46):
We'll call it
weather whiplash.
SPEAKER_06 (11:47):
Weather whiplash.
So yeah, I always like the smalltowns, honestly.
I mean, even we've done panaceaChristmas before, and so I like
some of the I like some of thesmall towns and I enjoy even
Thanksgiving.
Like you see families that havelike a yearly football game, you
know, or different traditionsthat they do.
SPEAKER_02 (12:07):
So I think that
reminds us of what's important
and what's funny, when I firststarted dating my husband, his
favorite holiday wasThanksgiving, and then mine was
Christmas.
So I was like, okay, you getthat one, and I get that one, no
problem.
And now, the more time that goesby, I think Thanksgiving is kind
of more my favorite because it'sway less pressure.
SPEAKER_04 (12:29):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (12:29):
You just eat really
good food, you hang out, you can
dress like super casual, you candress up, whatever you're
feeling, and you just there's nopressure whatsoever.
SPEAKER_06 (12:40):
You just get to hang
out with your people and well,
and you're amazing at cookingthe turkey.
SPEAKER_02 (12:44):
I'm uh I'm
forgetting every year.
It's like I get amnesia.
Every single year, I think I doa different recipe or do
something different.
I like doing it.
I like doing it.
SPEAKER_06 (12:53):
No, I think it's
absolutely incredible.
So visiting some breweries, going on some trail walks, you
know, maybe just being outside,honestly.
I think the sky's a little bluerthis time of year, and you get a
little more crisp.
SPEAKER_02 (13:08):
Well, because did I
tell my snake story?
SPEAKER_06 (13:11):
I don't think you
told your snake story.
SPEAKER_02 (13:13):
Because I'm thinking
of trails, and like I Oh, true.
I agree.
SPEAKER_06 (13:17):
Melissa's son saved
her life.
SPEAKER_02 (13:19):
Yeah, I agree.
A three-year-old.
I agree that trail walks aregreat when it gets cooler.
But Zach sent me a Snapchat ofthem on that trail for the first
time since we went back.
And no lie, instantly, I couldfeel my palms starting to sweat.
And I was like, I don't thinktell the people what happened.
Yeah, so this was like a monthago.
And if you're uh familiar withTallahassee, there's the Indian
Mounds.
(13:39):
Really cool place.
It's legitimate mounds, hugemounds, stairs going up to it in
one area, and then you've gottrails.
There's two separate trails.
So we go on the one trail thatI've gone on hundreds of times.
We're maybe 30 feet in, it'sright off the parking lot.
We see one tree that's down overhere on the right hand side.
So we go stand on it, andeverything's fine.
Then we see one directly acrossthe way, and it's a big oak
(14:02):
laying down, and it's off of thetrail, but it's almost like a
separate trail, and then there'sa creek right here.
And so it's not like you'remajorly in the woods, off of a
crazy beaten path.
Like it's nothing crazy.
So me and my three-year-oldEslie are standing on top of
this tree.
Zach, my husband, is behind us,and I'm here, Eslie's here, and
(14:25):
he looks like this, and he goes,Mama, a snake.
When I tell you I went like thisso casually, because he just got
a uh holy shit look on her face.
Yes.
So I all of a sudden he says,Mama, a snake, and I look to my
right, and all of a sudden Isaid, Oh fuck, and I'm gone.
(14:46):
I start grabbing him, I'mbacking off.
Zach grabs him.
We are fast walking.
We are bumped this.
We go back to the parking lotand we're processing everything
that happened.
SPEAKER_06 (14:57):
Largest snake you've
ever seen.
SPEAKER_02 (14:59):
In my 32 years of
living in Florida, down in the
coast, like being on trails allmy life.
Oh God, I'm like on egg and I'mseeing seeing animals now.
I'm like, can you get me still?
That happens and we'reprocessing.
And when we were on the big logand we looked down, the snake
(15:19):
was kind of wedged underneathit, and it was looking directly
back at us.
And what I could see, and again,if me and my husband were not
together, we wouldn't believeone another.
Yeah, it was.
If you're looking, it's gonna behow many inches do you think
that is?
SPEAKER_06 (15:35):
I mean, that's
probably at least six to eight
inches around.
SPEAKER_02 (15:38):
Yeah, so literally
bigger than my husband's bicep,
and that was like partiallywedged under the log.
So I don't know if that was thewhole snake, and it was a darker
color with kind of patterns onit.
SPEAKER_06 (15:51):
Yes, it was super
aggressive, by the way.
Having looked at pictures, thiswas a water moccasin.
SPEAKER_02 (15:56):
Yes, we were again,
we wanted to figure out what it
was, but there's no way in hellwe were going back on that
trail.
And so I'm spiraling and I takea video within a few minutes, I
send it to the family, and I'mlike, just to put this on the
record.
Like it was so stressful allweekend, all weekend.
I was spiraling because what wewere doing is we were on the log
(16:17):
to then hop down to go to thecreek.
So I'm with my three-year-old,and we would have just plopped,
like we wouldn't have.
Directly on it, directly on it.
And then if there was somechance we missed it, we're then
on the side of the and they'llchase you, and just even now I
can feel myself spiralingbecause it would have been a
(16:38):
really, really bad situation.
And thankfully, mythree-year-old is so observant
and just says, Mama, a snake.
SPEAKER_06 (16:44):
Yeah, right.
And so again, there's a coupleof things in this story.
One, stay on the trail.
SPEAKER_02 (16:50):
He was only like 10
feet off the trail.
SPEAKER_06 (16:52):
But but again, life
is unpredictable, right?
Like, that's really what itcomes down to.
Life is unpredictable, you neverknow what you're gonna face.
SPEAKER_02 (16:59):
Nature is scary,
okay?
You just forget.
Like, I've gone on that trail somuch.
SPEAKER_06 (17:05):
You get so
comfortable and kind of
complacent about it.
So I'm so glad you guys areokay.
Uh, that was a really old snake, because for him to be that big.
So when we tell you to go ontrails, just be aware.
SPEAKER_02 (17:17):
Yeah, just just be
aware.
Look around now.
It could not be a stick, itcould be a snake, even like
bears.
There's bears spotted in aneighborhood lately.
SPEAKER_06 (17:25):
Just things in a
neighborhood in the middle of
Tallahassee.
SPEAKER_02 (17:29):
On your side city.
Yeah, so trail walks, yes andno, is how I feel.
I feel very conflicted now.
I'm more of an asphalt kind ofgirly these days.
SPEAKER_06 (17:40):
All right, well,
let's talk about bonfires.
SPEAKER_02 (17:43):
How do you feel
about them?
SPEAKER_06 (17:44):
I am blessed.
So I live what I would considerright in the middle of town.
Yeah.
Right?
Like you're central.
I am central.
However, with the fabulouscounty and city that we live in,
they can't draw a line to savetheir life.
And so my house is actually inthe county and not in the city
limits, which means I get tohave bonfires at my house.
SPEAKER_02 (18:06):
But you know,
everybody can technically burn,
but it just can't be so big.
SPEAKER_06 (18:09):
Right, but mine can
be big.
SPEAKER_02 (18:11):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (18:11):
You are close to a
fire station, so that's I I can
also burn all the Amazon boxes.
People don't know how much stuffI've bought.
SPEAKER_02 (18:18):
Hide all the
evidence.
SPEAKER_05 (18:19):
Hide the evidence.
I'm just saying.
So I do love that.
SPEAKER_02 (18:24):
I love bonfires, but
as a woman that tries not to
wash her hair that often, if Ijust washed my hair, I'm not
crazy about it, which is abummer because I don't want to
say, I don't want to wash myhair and miss out on
opportunities.
But at the same time, it wasmore annoying when my hair was
super long.
So I'll say that.
SPEAKER_06 (18:41):
But s'mores over a
fire.
SPEAKER_02 (18:43):
Oh, nothing beats
it.
That's it's so good.
Amazing.
Yeah, so bonfires.
And then I like that it'sofficially kind of crock pot
season, you know, comfort foods.
SPEAKER_06 (18:53):
Yeah.
Yeah.
What's your favorite comfortfood?
Pot roast.
Yeah, that's my favorite.
Yeah, I didn't ever used to likepot roast.
What?
I I didn't.
I know it's very strange.
Steak is my absolute favoriteand seafood, but pot roast.
Well, because I don't want to dothe carrots in my pot roast.
Don't put carrots in my pot.
No.
SPEAKER_01 (19:12):
Oh my god, I do a
million carrots.
Give me all the carrot.
My eyesight's fine.
I don't need that.
SPEAKER_02 (19:18):
You don't like
carrots.
SPEAKER_06 (19:19):
Not cooked.
I'll do a raw carrot.
SPEAKER_02 (19:22):
I'm total opposite.
SPEAKER_06 (19:24):
Yeah, see, that's
why it's miles between us
because we are different.
SPEAKER_02 (19:27):
Yeah, that's what's
nice about it.
It's funny, my I just had thisyesterday.
My small crock pot only hascertain set like high four
hours, low eight hours, something like that.
But my bigger one has an actualtimer.
So like yesterday, I'm hangingout with Alexis in them, and I
gotta go home because I used mysmall one because I didn't have
plans.
And then all of a sudden I hadlast minute plans, and now I've
(19:48):
got to go home to turn my crockpot off.
That's so anti what it shouldbe.
Yeah, I'm excited.
SPEAKER_06 (19:56):
Listen, I um I don't
cook a lot.
I mean, I can I can cook and Ican be capable.
Yeah, I'm certainly capable.
I just choose to spend my timedoing other things.
Okay.
However, Instagram and Facebookbe getting me now.
Half of it's AI.
Well, okay, but it's all theselike three ingredient recipes
and crock pop meals, and I amgonna eat a ton of desserts
(20:20):
because the stuff that they havecome up with this year, bless
you.
But somebody tell me how to savethat shit.
Because I'll watch it.
No on Instagram.
I'm watching an Instagram reel.
It looks amazing.
They're telling me about it, andthen I can't remember that.
I can show you how to save it.
Okay, somebody show me how tosave it because that's
important.
Yeah, I want to do a wholebaking day.
(20:41):
I want to do nothing but likeInstagram baking stuff.
SPEAKER_02 (20:44):
I just saved the
recipe on you know the little
Debbie's Christmas tree.
How to make those so we can dothose ones because those fun
make me feel sick, but I likethem and I feel like they make
me s feel sick because they'rejust super processed.
Right.
Yeah.
Oh, that's gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_05 (20:59):
Yeah, I like that.
SPEAKER_06 (21:00):
So, you know, we've
got a lot of guy viewers, and so
uh, you know, sometimes when westart talking about all of this,
I'm like, oh, are they are theytuning out?
But you know what I have foundis that there's a lot of guys
that love to bake and they liketo eat too.
SPEAKER_02 (21:14):
They damn sure love
to eat, and they probably got a
sister, a friend, or a wife, soit's true, the more they know.
SPEAKER_06 (21:21):
Yeah, so I want one
of our guy listeners to send us
your favorite recipe that youactually cook for the holidays.
SPEAKER_02 (21:29):
Recipe or baking?
Very big difference.
Because you know I had to choosebetween the two just going to
culinary school.
So it's night and day.
I mean, don't you need a recipeto bake?
I mean, yeah, but if you'reasking for someone's favorite
dish.
SPEAKER_06 (21:41):
Okay, I'm a dessert
girl, so send me your dessert.
There we go.
Yes, send me your dessert.
SPEAKER_02 (21:46):
What is your
favorite dessert?
I mean, I know you likechocolate cake for your
birthday, but yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (21:50):
I mean, I really I
like a lot of desserts.
Cheesecake is definitely one ofmy favorites.
Brownies.
Um, I love brownies.
I like fudge.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_05 (22:02):
I like fudge,
chocolate-covered strawberries.
Oh, yeah, classic.
SPEAKER_06 (22:06):
Yeah,
chocolate-covered just about
anything, honestly.
SPEAKER_05 (22:08):
Let's be real.
Yeah, what's your favoritedessert?
SPEAKER_02 (22:10):
I always feel so
panicked when you ask me such
decisive questions.
In a realm of everything.
I think for any event where it'slike my birthday, Valentine's
Day, I'm alwayschocolate-covered strawberry.
But then I just change my mindtoo often.
I mean, for my birthday, I wantan ice cream cone.
So I don't like cake really.
I think we might be hungrybecause we're getting
(22:32):
sidetracked a lot.
SPEAKER_06 (22:33):
It's obvious that we
are somewhat looking at this.
So let's talk about some of theupcoming events.
SPEAKER_02 (22:38):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (22:39):
So we've got a
turkey trot.
If if you've not heard of that,or if you're not in Tallahassee.
SPEAKER_04 (22:43):
Have you done it
before?
SPEAKER_06 (22:44):
No, because it's
super, super early.
It's usually cold as hell and itinvolves running.
SPEAKER_02 (22:50):
And it's pretty
heavy.
SPEAKER_06 (22:51):
And nobody's chasing
me.
But I'm gonna do it this year.
I am going to do it.
So, no, not technically.
Alexis and Alex and Emberlysigned up.
So I am gonna do the turkeytrot.
We've got the TallahasseeChristmas Parade, that whole
jingle bell run, a parade thatcomes up.
We've talked about the VictorianChristmas.
(23:12):
Lemoyne is an art gallery herein town, and our sister-in-law
is one of the executivedirectors of that.
And so they've got some craftshows, they've got a like
muffins and mimosa coming up.
Yeah, I mean, share some of yourother events with us because
we'll we'll come.
SPEAKER_05 (23:28):
Like we like events,
we like fun stuff.
SPEAKER_02 (23:31):
Yeah, and I think we
just like doing things to kind
of kick start the holiday cheer, get in spirit of everything.
Because that I think that's whattakes me a little bit is one, I
usually need at least onetemperature drop, you know.
Bring out a sweater or two.
We're getting it.
And then it gets there.
Well, because it's probablygonna go back to 80 degrees in
two weeks.
But Florida.
But I mean, it should be atleast chilly on Thanksgiving, so
(23:52):
that'll be nice.
SPEAKER_06 (23:53):
Okay, so here's one
of the cool things I hope that
our our viewers and ourlisteners are enjoying about our
podcast.
Again, we've talked about it,it's unedited, unscripted, real
life.
So one week we're gonna give youtwo sisters talking about real
life, right?
The things that we're dealingwith, stuff that's coming up,
fun stuff, some anecdotes of ofwhat's happening in our life.
(24:16):
And then another week we'regonna talk about really
important car shit.
We're gonna talk about, youknow, how not to get scammed by
the insurance company.
So we want you to see who weare, and that's really who we
are.
Like we're both of those things.
And so that's what we're doing.
Well, and I think that's what'simportant is that our, you know,
our viewers, our listeners, everybody realizes like you can
(24:40):
be multiple things, right?
SPEAKER_02 (24:42):
And so I I think I'm
learning that there can be two
truths that may seemcontradicting, and I do think
it's harder for women to feellike they can truly embrace
different parallels and thingslike that.
So I think this helps kind oflean into all different avenues
and really embrace it and be thebusinesswoman, but then also be
the sister and the friend andyou know, just have a little fun
(25:05):
in between all the chaos.
Life is chaos.
It's talking about chaos, let'stalk about Thanksgiving.
Chaos, absolute chaos, but it'sfun, it's almost like controlled
chaos, you know.
SPEAKER_06 (25:15):
So let's talk about
some of the like one versus the
other.
SPEAKER_02 (25:20):
Would you say you
like turkey or ham better?
SPEAKER_06 (25:22):
Ham.
SPEAKER_02 (25:22):
Specific kind of
ham?
SPEAKER_06 (25:24):
I really like a
honey-baked spot roll ham.
SPEAKER_02 (25:27):
Okay.
Or turkey all day, every day.
Gravy?
SPEAKER_06 (25:30):
Gravy is amazing,
yes.
SPEAKER_02 (25:33):
Okay, so what are
you doing with the gravy?
Are you doing it?
SPEAKER_04 (25:35):
Well, I'm not doing
anything because you make it,
but did you just tell thelisteners I make shit gravy?
No, no, no.
I said I'm not doing anythingwith the gravy.
SPEAKER_02 (25:46):
I thought you were
saying you weren't putting it on
anything.
SPEAKER_03 (25:48):
No, I'm putting it
on everything.
I'm just saying, you said, whatdo you do with it?
And my immediate response wasnothing because you make it.
I thought you were jabbing melike a little jabbed turkey.
SPEAKER_06 (26:00):
No, no, no.
So yeah, I mean, yes, gravy'samazing.
SPEAKER_02 (26:04):
And I eat turkey, so
I drown it.
I think gravy is the first thingI think of because I'm just
gonna do it.
SPEAKER_06 (26:11):
You know what I
think of the first thing?
And it's harder to do at yourhouse than it used to be at
mom's when I was younger.
Open the oven and get some ofthe skin off the turkey.
It's so good.
You just wait till it's done.
No, because then it's extracrispy.
Oh, I know there are people outthere who do that too.
What?
Open the oven and get some ofthe skin.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (26:30):
Luckily, mom never
she was never bothered by that.
Okay, yeah, this or that.
Casual or dressed up?
SPEAKER_06 (26:35):
Casual, totally
casual.
SPEAKER_02 (26:36):
I mean, I want to
look we want to look cute.
I wear makeup, but I think Iwear slippers.
SPEAKER_06 (26:42):
Oh, yeah,
definitely.
I I mean I have pictures of youin your pajamas and slippers and
a cute makeup and hairdo cookinglast year.
SPEAKER_02 (26:49):
You also have
pictures of me in my sunglasses
working with the turkey becauseI had a migraine.
SPEAKER_06 (26:53):
That's true, that's
true.
SPEAKER_02 (26:54):
Thanksgiving's for
all different versions.
SPEAKER_04 (26:56):
Yeah, I mean,
listen, you're gonna get full,
you're gonna need to becomfortable.
SPEAKER_06 (27:01):
Like that nap that
automatically comes.
So, yeah, we're casual people.
You know, it's fun to dosomething fun dining every now
and then, but it ain't on theholiday.
SPEAKER_02 (27:11):
Not on Thanksgiving.
I like being super casualpersonally.
SPEAKER_06 (27:16):
Yeah, we have a big
crew that gets together, so
that's that's also fun andallows us to go play in the yard
and play with the kids and thattype of stuff.
SPEAKER_02 (27:24):
So which dish do you
usually make?
SPEAKER_06 (27:26):
So I do the yams
with the marshmallows.
A lot of marshmallows.
Yes.
I don't think you can have toomany marshmallows.
Nope, and they've got to besuper like golden brown on top.
So I absolutely love that.
It's funny how we've each gottenlike our signature kind of like
dish.
And I think it's because we'reworried if we don't do it,
(27:48):
somebody else won't, and wecan't have Thanksgiving without
it.
SPEAKER_02 (27:51):
Yeah, I think I
always pair Alexis with green.
I don't think anybody's evermade that one.
Yeah, that's hers.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (27:59):
One of the really,
really, really super important
tips that I would say is that ifyou're going to somebody's
house, take some to gocontainers with you.
SPEAKER_02 (28:08):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (28:08):
So that when the
meal is over, you can take some
leftovers with you.
SPEAKER_02 (28:12):
Yeah, that's very
smart.
Like legitimately the ones thatare restaurant style.
Like you can pick up thestyrofoam or paper ones.
Genius.
Because then you have to worryabout getting any type of
wearabout.
SPEAKER_06 (28:23):
Yeah, because
everybody knows that that night
at 10 o'clock you're gonna wantsome groomy casserole and some
yams and some.
SPEAKER_02 (28:29):
I honestly think the
best thing about Thanksgiving is
the leftovers.
I agree.
Knowing you can eat that, and Idon't get tired of eating it for
like three days straight.
Yeah.
Sometimes we don't plan as welland we have barely any
leftovers, which is a little bittragic.
SPEAKER_06 (28:42):
But when there's a
lot, it's so make sure you get
your to-go containers and takethem to whoever's house you're
going to.
SPEAKER_02 (28:49):
Yep.
Yep.
SPEAKER_06 (28:50):
Yeah.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (28:50):
I'm excited for
Thanksgiving.
Oh, it's now this episode we'vetalked about, you know, fall
activities and what we think ofand all the fun stuff coming up.
And then I think next episode,we're gonna talk about tips and
tricks to surviving theholidays, starting with, you
know, car stuff, getting there, but diving a little deeper into
(29:13):
like family stuff and all that.
SPEAKER_06 (29:15):
Yeah, I mean, so
this one just a short preview.
We don't normally havecraziness, and we've had some
craziness.
And so we've learned somelessons on how to survive and
set boundaries and stilllearning.
Yeah, it's in the works.
So we're gonna we're gonna seehow that all rolls and plays
(29:37):
out.
Yeah.
But yeah, next episode's gonnabe a lot of fun.
Again, it's you know, what doyou need to do to prepare your
car to travel?
Tips for maintenance and stufflike that, but then also like
some comfort stuff inside thecar and getting there and yeah,
because now I've realized mydaycare actually sent out the
hey, swap out your extra changeof clothes of summer for fall
(29:58):
stuff.
SPEAKER_02 (29:58):
And it made me think
that.
I need to do the same for my carand have like a blanket in there
and so that kind of stuff too.
Yeah.
We'll dive into it.
SPEAKER_06 (30:05):
Yeah, so we'll talk
about that and then we'll talk
about what everybody experiencesfor the holidays.
SPEAKER_02 (30:11):
Because I'm
realizing it's way more common
to have stress.
I had no idea.
SPEAKER_06 (30:16):
I mean, I honestly
did not know.
Like it is always honestlyblindly ignorant to it because
we were.
I mean, we just we've had somany certain traditions that
have been set and things thathave just kind of always
happened.
And so when something rocks theboat, boy, it rocks the boat.
Just hold on tight.
SPEAKER_02 (30:35):
Put on your life
jacket.
SPEAKER_06 (30:36):
Yeah, so those of
you that are like already
starting to have that anxiety orboy, have I felt you.
Ooh, yeah.
We're gonna get into that nextweek.
And so I think you're gonnaenjoy it.
SPEAKER_02 (30:47):
Yeah, come along for
the ride because you know, it's
a little chaotic with us, butit's always fun.
SPEAKER_06 (30:53):
It's always fun, and
you know what?
We survive.
We survive, and in the end wethrive.
SPEAKER_02 (30:58):
I have survived a
hundred percent of my worst
days.
It's true.
Cheers to that, and you havetoo.
SPEAKER_06 (31:03):
I love that.
Yeah, and here's just some gooddays coming up.
SPEAKER_02 (31:06):
Yep.
Happy birthday to you! Thankyou.
Thank you.
She's gonna be 32.
SPEAKER_06 (31:14):
I don't want to be
32 over again.
Hail to the no.
I have earned this age.
I am totally fine with it.
SPEAKER_02 (31:19):
If you like a fine
wine, I feel like you're really
just relishing and learningabout what you like.
SPEAKER_06 (31:25):
That's when your
baby sister's like you're
getting old as shit, but I'mgonna call you a fine wine.
SPEAKER_02 (31:31):
That's true.
Honestly, I think you're betternow than you were five years
ago.
SPEAKER_06 (31:35):
Well, I would say
that yes, I think that we get
better with age, honestly.
We figure out who the hell weare, what we want in life, we
learn how to set boundaries, andwe learn to just not give a
shit.
SPEAKER_02 (31:45):
That's something
worth celebrating.
SPEAKER_06 (31:46):
Amen.
We're gonna celebrate.
SPEAKER_02 (31:48):
Here's just some
chocolate cake.
Yay!
SPEAKER_04 (31:50):
All right, guys.
SPEAKER_06 (31:51):
Follow us on

Five stars.
Let us know, you know, otherthings that you want to know
about.
Again, we're gonna do some deepdives in the collision and
mechanical world.
Those have really struck a chordwith some people.
I think they've learned somestuff.
So thank you guys that have sentus the comments and all of that.
SPEAKER_02 (32:14):
So until next time,
we are miles between us and we
are always gonna keep itunscripted, unedited, real life.
