How are you, man?
I'm good, how are you Doing?
Alright, man, Welcome back.
Welcome back, man.
You've grown.
You say you haven't, but you'vegrown.
I can see it in the face, manyou look older and wiser.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
That's gotta be the only thing that's grown.
I'm still a little guy.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah, I don't know, man, I don't know.
I know you're riding bulls havegotten better, right.
Yeah, been putting the work in.
What about that dismount thatyou've always had trouble with?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
When I stay on the bulls, it works.
It's not as good because I'mtrying to still ride them.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
All right, not trying to throw you in the bus, but
man, that dismount man, I mean, you've grown but you're still a
tiny guy.
Yeah, but you, you ride, man.
You ride like no other, so Iappreciate it, yeah, yeah.
So the last time you were herewas almost two years ago.
It was February 20, 2023.

(01:31):
Episode 128.
Can you believe that?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Time flies by when you're having fun, right You're
15 years old man.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Oh, all right, I'm getting old, right, I'm getting
old, I'm getting old.
Mom and dad are getting younger, right, I don't know?
Shout out to them man, biggestsupporters, there's some good
people, so that's out.
So you graduated.

(02:04):
Yeah, feel good.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Oh, yeah, yeah graduated early yeah, graduated
a semester early.
That way, as soon as they hitturn 18, I can just go hit pro
rodeos and pbrs okay all right, and that's the goal.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, all right.
You 18 or 17.
Now I'm 17.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I'll be 18 in march in march.
So, dude, you're gonna get yourcard right away yeah, I'm gonna
run on my permit this year andthen we'll see about next year.
Okay, so just pbr or prca tooI'm gonna do some a bunch of
prcas for like columbia rivercircuit and stuff, and then I'll
hit some pbr's whenever I can, kind of just get a taste of all

(02:47):
the kind of Pro Bowls so chancesof me seeing you pretty high.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Oh yeah, parents too, correct?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
yeah, they'll be going to what they can whenever
it's priorities and stuff,because if there's Wyatt they're
parents.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, so it's probably the stuff, because if
there's wyatt, they're parents.
Yeah.
So let's go back last time youwere on your, you know, slam
bulls, everything else right, and then you got this injury,
dude, the injury that any wouldmake any grown man cry.

(03:23):
You know, and probablyreconsider future endeavors, but
not you.
What exactly happened that day,if you don't mind, you know,
trying to remember and tellingthe listeners what really
happened to you.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Well, it was it was april of 2023.
I was at a high school rodeo inhermiston, oregon, and the
first day I bucked off at likeseven, eight and to where?
The next day I just told myselfI was just gonna grid it out,
no matter what, to get a scorethe next day.
So I was riding my bull onsunday perf.
I was riding him, was spurringhim, and then I kind of got a

(04:07):
little leaned back and I went topull from a wrap and then hand
popped and I landed rightunderneath him.
He just stepped on me and whenhe stepped on me he split my
liver in half and bruised mykidney, my liver or my pancreas
and some other things inside.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, how long were you in the hospital?
For A week, a week.
How long were you in recovery?
For Seven weeks?
Seven weeks, all right, did you?
Did you ever question whetheryou're going to get back at or
not, or you knew for a factyou're going to get back on?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, the doctors were really questioning it
because the whenever happened atfirst, they told me I was going
to be out for at least a yearyeah, and then they kept.
They had to get blood drawn likethree or four times every day
for the week that I was in thehospital, so every time they
just kept coming back.
You know, the next day it wassix months, then three, and then
it was right you should be ableto come back in three months if

(05:05):
you're feeling good about itand stuff.
I was trying to win state titleagain to where I had state
finals eight weeks after thatrodeo, to where three weeks
after it happened I was startingphysical therapy and then at
the seven-week mark I gotcleared but didn't have a
doctor's note so they wouldn'tlet me ride state Were you

(05:29):
nipping at the bit, just goingback, or were you a little
hesitant?
I was ready to go back.
I mean, whenever I got on thatfirst pullback I was a little
bit nervous, just becausesubconsciously it was still
there.
But this past year andeverything else, I've just been
learning how to really train mymind more than anything daring
little guy, man, a young man, geez.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Well, what did mom say about it, man?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
they they left it up to me.
I mean, they were not.
It was a good time when ithappened.
But you know, I was wanting togo back and, like they said, you
know wouldn't have mattered ifthey told me I couldn't get on.
As soon as I was 18 I was gonnastart getting on again, anyhow
yeah, they were keeping usupdated, man.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
It was pretty nice, you know, just to get updated
and thoughts and prayers yourway.
They, they liked that.
But I was worried about you, man, and just was like, okay,
well, you know he, he's gonnamake the decision, and so you
made the decision, you didn'thesitate and, dude, now you're
rocking it trying to, that's forsure all right.

(06:37):
Well, what would dad say?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
he's proud of me, you know it's.
He was happy for me just comingback, just proving to myself
that, you know, even though Iwasn't riding a lot of bulls as
soon as I came back, I was stillgetting on and putting out the
effort.
He was just happy with me, youknow, putting it behind me and
trying to push through it ratherthan let dwelling on it and
letting it eat me up yeah, yeah, well, it didn't eat you up,

(07:00):
though, right no, uh, there wasa couple times where it was kind
of I'd buck off rules that Ishould be riding all the time
and it was kind of just makingme question things.
But just had to kind of put thatout and just trust myself and
get back to doing what I knowhow to do.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yeah, people probably wonder why I shout your parents
out.
It's because, when I've seenyou, parents are always there
supportive, right.
Without them, you wouldn't beable to go anywhere.
Oh, yeah, no for sure.
So I have to shout them out, man, I have to shout them out,
so shout out to them.
So you're doing high schoolrodeo.

(07:37):
Yeah, how's that going?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
I'm leading it after the fall season and then the
spring season will start up inApril.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
And you're able to do spring since you graduated.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, I was going to graduate a whole year early, but
in order to still be eligiblefor high school rodeo, I had to
graduate after January 1st.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Who has better bull riders, Washington or Oregon?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I don't really know about Washington but Oregon.
We got a bunch of youngfreshmen coming up this year
that next couple years it'sgoing to be exciting to see them
.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Okay, what region is better?
At Oregon we're just a state,well I know.
But what region?
You got Central.
You got the Bend Redmond area.
You got the bend redmond area.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
You got the southern part, medford climate falls I'm
the only bull rider out ofklamath so I mean I guess I
gotta go with klamath.
But all right, pretty mucheverybody's from rosebury or
redmond okay yeah, all right,redmond.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Okay, yeah, all right .
Yeah, how's a old lane Vaughndoing, man, you guys keeping in
touch, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
He's in college in Texas.
He's riding them all at all ofthem big pro rodeos.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, yeah, but he's going to college.
So after high school, are yougoing to go to college?
Yeah?
All right Now.
Where are you going, man?
Now you're college.
Yeah, all, right now, where areyou going, man?
Now you're speaking my language, so where are you going?
I think I'm gonna go tonebraska and north platte,
nebraska.
That's what roy was saying.
Nebraska, see, okay, yeah, Ijust nebraska, though I can see

(09:19):
oklahoma, I can see texas, I cansee arizona, can see Arizona.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
But Nebraska they got some cool programs that I
really like and then Coach toldme that I could get on bulls
whenever I want, and that wasreally a good deciding factor,
just being able to have bullswhenever I want to get on them,
All right.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
It's cold there too.
Oh yeah, it's hot there too, yeah, that that wind is like
nothing, man.
There's nothing to block it.
You don't.
You do not have any mountains, you don't have the cascades, you
know blocking that wind, man?

Speaker 2 (09:59):
yeah, I'm going to check out the school actually
here in March.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Nice, nice, what's what?
What school?
Again, it's a mid Plainscollege.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
It's in North Platte Nebraska.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Okay, you got family there, I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Nope, just coach.
The scene really wants me to gothere and he's a good guy and I
like the programs they got, soI'm going to go check her out
and hopefully be signing there.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Okay, how did he find you?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
He just kind of texted me on Instagram it was
middle of last year.
He just kind of was saying, hey, you know what grade are you in
, kind of saying, just kind ofcheck out the school and see
what they got.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Felt good.
Huh.
Yeah, I bet, man.
I bet I could only imagine how,how elated you were.
You're like that.
Was that your reaction?
Or you're just agreeing with me?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
No, it was pretty exciting.
It's always cool wheneverpeople that you don't know come
to you and talk to you and say, hey, you ride good, you know
college rodeo, the camaraderie.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Camaraderie is one of a kind that's the one thing
that they do talk about.
But they also talk about, like, how they never liked school.
But you know, doing collegeradio pretty much, uh put them

(11:37):
in the zone to do school and dowell.
So yeah, it's pretty.
It's pretty cool, man, what thecollege rodeo uh do for free
kids, man.
So do a great job.
I know you will, I know youwill, but dude, yeah that's.
That's awesome to know thatyou're gonna go further in your

(11:58):
education, man, so continue theeducation part too.
All right, yeah, so along withcollege rodeo, you're gonna do
prca and pbr.
Yep, okay, now did you talk tocoach about that?

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I'm gonna go talk to him more at uh school, but I
gotta have some rodeos becausenebraska, I don't know how much
there's around in the winter andeverything else but for rodeo
PBRs, it gives me something todo all year long well, I know up
north they got those indoors.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
So if they have the indoors up north there, well
they'll probably have someindoors where you're gonna be,
which is very helpful.
Yeah, yeah, when you start, yougotta keep.
Keep me, uh posted, all rightwill do I'm excited, man.
I'm just glad you're going dude.

(12:54):
Awesome, that's awesome, man.
What program are you gonna take?

Speaker 2 (12:58):
I'm debating between that.
I have a cool constructionprogram or welding okay, well,
you welding down there when, uh,when you were in school, no, I
was, uh, I did school up untillike covid and then I was
homeschooled to where I didn'treally have any of those cool
classes like shop class or anyof that gotcha, gotcha, all

(13:21):
right.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
so all right, man, you're gonna get your hands
dirty and wow, welding.
I have a bunch of kids atschool where I work, man, they
love it and always want to dotrade, trade, trade, trade.
So, yeah, you're going to haveto get the measurement right,
the heat all the way toeverything.

(13:42):
Basically, get that fine line.
Yeah, be fun, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, you know, uh, dalton,he's a welder, so if you need
any, uh, you know somebody tohelp you out, he's, I'm pretty
sure he'll help you out.
So, cct, you're gonna do cct, yeah, with everything else oh

(14:07):
yeah, I'm gonna hit as many as Ican.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
That's, I'm trying to win cct this year, so I'm gonna
go to as many as I can and, youknow, until I go off to college
in the fall what is it aboutcct man?
it's I was 11 when I went to myfirst one.
Then I went to my first schoolthat same year and then back
then I couldn't ride a stickhorse.
But then Jason and Joe, theyreally helped me a lot with just

(14:33):
everything.
They put on a little clinic andthen just since then they've
been.
They're just really good peopleall around where it's good
environment and good pools, justgood having fun, close rodeos
Well well, they always havethose people coming back, you
know.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
So it says a lot, probably means a lot for all
parties, correct?
Yeah, yeah, so all right, whendone with school, it's in the
future.
Okay, when done with school, you going back to the roots, are
you gonna go with the big boysdown south?
I don't know.

(15:10):
I know I put you on the spot,yeah I haven't really thought
about it.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
But I haven't really, like, really gone in depth
thinking about it of, yeah, where I want to go, because, no
matter what, I'm gonna have tobe traveling for rodeo.
So, right, serious, you'regonna be busy, man, no matter
what I'm going to have to betraveling for rodeo.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Right, serious, you're going to be busy man, no
matter what, especially ifyou're going to have those cards
and continue the yeah, yeah.
How long do?

Speaker 2 (15:43):
you think you'll be bull riding Shoot?
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Sometime in my 30s, probably probably.
Yeah, how many bones you break?
So far two all right college, pbr, prca, what, what else?

Speaker 2 (16:01):
gonna finish off the year in high school rodeo this
year through nationals and thenhit ccts, pr, prcas, pbrs and
just kind of whatever otherrodeos I can find.
Just kind of try to hit it hardthis year.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Nationals and Wyoming correct.
Yes, sir, yeah, yeah, and thenyou're gonna see the washington
boys.
Huh, yeah, yeah, hey, someone, dude snyderman, marriott
brothers, right, I know, uh jcyeah, yeah.
Okay, I had connor dean on tooyeah, I didn't get to hear that

(16:40):
episode yet, but I've seen hehad him on yeah, those boys talk
a lot and yeah, they're uh oneand two, one two punch in the
the high school rankings, soyeah, it's pretty, pretty good
stuff.
I guess, uh, uh jc like is acouple points ahead of connor

(17:02):
dean and connor dean is justlike, hey, I'm gonna take it,
kind of thing.
So yeah, it's a little rivalrythere.
I remember uh jc came up with jdub or came down because they
traveled to come to the you knowthe studio to do an episode
well j dub did, but jc was thereand he was always talking about

(17:22):
contracting.
But now dude is own in the, thebull riding.
It's like dude, are you kiddingme?
So yeah, it's prettyinteresting to see how you know
things change and go into a plan.
You know more different plan.
So yeah, it's pretty cool, man, pretty cool.

(17:44):
So all right, you good, yeah, yeah, you sure.
Oh yeah, all right, man, hey, why?
I appreciate you, man, Iappreciate you making time to
update me, let people know howyou're doing.
I'm glad you're doing better.

All right, all right, thank you.
