Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey, I'm Lemon.
I am just like you, sisterfriend.
Talk about stepping into thatoverflow that God has for us by
becoming those ultimate Proverbs31 women.
Hey, I'm Lemon.
I am just like you, sisterfriend.
I knew God had something morein store for me, but I couldn't
see a way out of the laundrypiles and, frankly, I resented
that.
Proverbs 31 woman.
How was I going to live up tothe hype?

(00:38):
That is until I found out howto really step into becoming
this Proverbs 31 woman throughleadership development.
In this podcast you're going tofind financial freedom,
leadership, growth andmotivation so you'll be able to
do all the things God has calledyou to do with ease and really
step into that land of milk andhoney.

(00:59):
Welcome back to the Milk andHoney Podcast.
I'm your host, lemon Price, andtoday it might be a weird
episode I was not planning ondoing this for the episode and
yet I felt like I needed to havethis conversation today for
whatever reason.
I have been thinking about thisfor a long time, like a very

(01:20):
long time, and I've said thisbefore on the podcast the church
as a whole to me doesn'tnecessarily bring me the
spiritual growth that I want tohave.
It doesn't necessarily bring melike the deep, like the depth
that I want to go, and I don't.
Here's what I want to say.
I want to be really clear, likeI don't fault the church for

(01:42):
that.
I don't A I don't think it's mypastor's job to spiritually
feed me.
That's number one.
I think his job is to presentscripture in a way that gets me
to consider something that maybeI hadn't before.
I know, just even this lastweek Sam was studying for his
sermon, something about aparticular verse stood out to

(02:06):
him.
He's like I want to justexplore this further because I
hadn't thought about it before.
That's what I think church isgood at.
I think church can be reallygood and your pastor should be
really good at bringingscriptures to you and getting
you to think about it deeper andthen going and having a deeper
conversation and study about it.

(02:26):
So I don't think it's thechurch's job to spiritually feed
me.
The other thing is you justnever know who's walking into
your church.
Glenn has a family member whohas a lot of church hurt and is
not necessarily interested in arelationship with Jesus church

(02:46):
hurt and is not necessarilyinterested in a relationship
with Jesus and yet they werehere with us, for this family
member was here on Easter and sothey agreed to go to church
with us and sat in church withus on Easter Sunday.
So you just never know who'swalking in.
I remember I had thatexperience.
I was part of a very highcontrol religion before I found

(03:06):
Jesus like really found Jesusand the first time I walked into
the church that my husband andI attend now it's where I met
him and everything.
It was honestly stressful forme because I was so used to a
different way of church.
I was used to a different wayof people being and dressing and
behavior and everything wasdifferent.
They to a different way ofchurch.
I was used to a different wayof people being and dressing and

(03:27):
behavior and everything wasdifferent.
They used a different versionof the Bible than I used,
because the high control groupthat I was part of had their own
version.
So so the pastor has a reallydifficult job.
They have to balance yourpeople who've been in church
their whole life and are lookingto grow, and the people who
maybe this particular Sunday isthe last time they've decided

(03:50):
they're going to give Jesus achance.
So you have to account for both, and so I don't want somebody
to listen to this and be likeLemon is anti-church.
To listen to this and be likelemon is anti-church.
That is not it at all.
I just don't think that thechurch is the place to be fed
the meat.
I think it's the place whereyou're like weaning off of the

(04:11):
milk.
Does that make sense?
I hope that makes sense.
I don't think you cannecessarily go all in on deep
theological conversation andover the last probably six
months I have done, and Glenn'spointed this out even in the
last two years, my understandingof scripture is different.

(04:33):
I used to be a hardcore legalistbecause I came from a high
control group.
Then, when I got out, I wantedto know everything that I could
because I felt like I wasmissing something.
So I went to school to get amaster's in divinity and
apologetics and theology and Ilove all of my apologist friends
and they're kind and they'regood hearted and the intention

(04:55):
is good.
However, it was also extremelyjudgmental.
It was almost as judgmental asthe high control religious group
I was in.
I almost felt like I jumpedfrom one high control group to
another where I was so afraid toquestion anything, to interpret
scripture in a certain contextor ask questions about things.

(05:20):
I didn't feel like I had thespace to do that and so because
of that then I joined KingdomAlliance.
And what I like about KingdomAlliance is we're
non-denominational and thatirritates some people that
Michelle won't pick adenomination for the
organization because we justwon't.
But what it does is it bringsall of these different theology,

(05:42):
backgrounds and ways ofstudying and you get to have
legitimate conversation and workthrough things.
I will never forget where Istarted going.
I think Kingdom Allianceprobably shifted things for me a
little bit.
I will never like July of 2022,I will never forget this as
long as I live but I had alreadystarted feeling like I had a

(06:04):
bigger role in ministry in thechurch, and this was before the
podcast, it was before I wentall in with Kingdom Alliance and
I will never forget feelinglike this is where God wants me
to go, and then having a pastortell me there's nothing that
somebody could learn from me,there's nothing his congregation
could really learn from mebecause I'm a woman, and that

(06:26):
felt like a gut punch.
It felt so disrespectful to thecreator in that moment, because
I'm like God created me and sotherefore, I have inherent value
.
I have things to bring to thetable.
I'm not saying I need to leadyour whole church, but what I am
saying is I do have value, andso for you to reject my value
solely because God created me asa woman is you rejecting

(06:47):
creation and God's design forwomen.
And if I had had thatconversation maybe a month prior
, I would have agreed.
But something like I was readyto go deeper in my relationship
and so therefore, god took thislegalistic viewpoint that I had
and shifted it and was like hey, that's actually not how I

(07:08):
designed you.
To reject the way that I'vedesigned you is a rejection of
me.
And it shifted how I felt.
And so that's my husband and wemade the decision that if a
church doesn't see value in mesolely because I'm a woman, then
it's not the place for us andit's not the place we want to be
.
And so we ended up making anhour drive back to our old

(07:28):
church, and now we live closer.
So it's not an hour, but mytheology started, my
interpretation of scripture andhow I read scripture and outside
studying all those things.
It's different.
I wish somebody could see mydesk, and I have a giant
bookcase behind me and it isfull of books and I have more in
boxes that I haven't unpackedyet, making Glenn, but I need

(07:48):
like a Beauty and the Beastlibrary, because I've done so
much studying now and I'mlistening to podcasts and just
diving in a little bitdifferently, and so that's
really like where I want to go.
I still want to talk aboutleadership development.
I still want to talk about yougrowing your business.
I want to talk about you beinga wife and a mother and still

(08:10):
homemaking, because that blowspeople away that I homestead and
take care of my home and I'm awife and I'm a mother, but I'm
also the marketing director of apublishing house that publishes
Christian books.
I'm still a top leader in aChristian company.
That's how God created me to be, and so I want to keep having

(08:31):
this conversation.
But I want to go deeper and Ihope you're going to hang out
with me because I want to talkabout things that maybe the
church doesn't talk about andthe apologetics community is.
They're probably going tocrucify me I'm going to end up
on some apologetics website forsaying stuff like this but I
want to talk about the fact thatthe enemy can't create anything
.
He can't create anything.

(08:51):
All he can do is try to pervertwhat God has already created.
And so I think about the NewAge movement and I think about,
yeah, I'll just take the new agemovement right.
So if I look at the new agemovement and I have a good
friend, she came out of new ageI will never forget she said to

(09:13):
me.
She said, yeah, it works, manifestation, it works.
Guess what?
I could manifest things that Iwanted and I had them.
The problem was the source.
Where was I getting it from?
And that's usually where theconversation stops.
But what I've come to realizeand understand and we can do a
whole episode on this and I'mhoping to bring somebody on

(09:34):
who's like really well-versed inthis topic but it works.
And so if it works, ifmanifestation works and the
enemy can't create anything, theproblem is the source.
The problem is I was turning tothe enemy.
The problem is I removed Jesusfrom it.

(09:56):
And I just heard this on apodcast.
That was so good.
It was like if you're trying todo New Age, is Christianity
minus Jesus, right, it's likebiblical teachings minus Jesus.
Then that's not really correct.
The way he explained it was sogood it's.
You're driving a car and youhave the title.
Like, you have to have thetitle.

(10:16):
If you don't have the title,it's stolen, right?
You're going to get arrested.
You could still drive thevehicle.
It will still get you frompoint A to point B.
The tool is the same, thevehicle is the same, but do you
have the authority to use thattool?
Do you have the authority touse that vehicle in the manner
in which you are using it?
When you think about biblicalJesus and you think about the

(10:38):
things that Jesus said?
Jesus said greater works thanthese you will do, jesus says.
God says our faith can movemountains.
The power of life and death isin the tongue God created by
speaking and so therefore, likeour words have power and the
things that we do, it matters.
Faith without works is dead.
I have to have faith, but Ialso have to go do things.

(10:58):
I have to trust that God isgoing to show up in partnership
with me to do these incrediblethings.
New age is all of that, minusJesus.
It is a counterfeit.
The tool and the authority andthe vehicle they only work if
you have the title.
If you take the title away, ifyou take Jesus away, it is a
counterfeit.
It's illegal.

(11:19):
You do not have the authorityto use that tool or that vehicle
.
Those are more of theconversations I want to have,
and if you guys are down to havethose types of conversations,
if you're down to talk aboutthese a little bit deeper, start
a whole new podcast, tell me,send me a message on Instagram
or I'll put it on Spotify andyou can answer yeah, talk about
this or don't Get a whole newpodcast.

(11:40):
It's not for me and that's fine.
It's not going to hurt myfeelings.
I just want to know where youstand.
Is that the conversation wewant to have that?
Are we down to go that deeptogether?
Because I hope we are.
I hope we are.
I hope that this is a placewhere we can talk about you
being a killer, leader andbusiness owner and then also

(12:03):
have deep theologicaldiscussions at the same time,
because that's what this is.
When I think about the land ofmilk and honey, when I think
about ultimate leadershipdevelopment, it is also knowing
deep spiritual truth and reallystepping in.
That's what the intro says.
I want you to step fully intopartnership with the Lord, and

(12:24):
the only way you can do that isif we have deep conversations
that make us uncomfortable.
That's the only way I was souncomfortable with some of the
topics I started learning about,so uncomfortable, and I had to
check myself.
I was like is this, am Iuncomfortable because it sounds
unfamiliar, or am Iuncomfortable because it's
demonic and I shouldn't lookinto it?

(12:46):
And so then I had to study andI had to learn and I had to
consult scripture.
What does it look like in theoriginal language?
How would this have beeninterpreted back then?
What do different translationssay?
I want to look at all of it andthen come to some sort of
conclusion in partnership withthe Holy Spirit.
That's what I want to do andthat's what I'm hoping we're

(13:06):
going to do.
So if you're down, I hopeyou'll hang out with me.
I'm not saying everyconversation is going to be like
that.
Are you okay if we do havethose conversations, or are you
like Lemon?
You need a whole new podcast?
This seems like way out there.
Go do something else and juststick to the normal stuff that
you've been doing, and that'sfine.
Again, you're not going to hurtmy feelings.

(13:27):
I just want to know whereyou're at, because I want to go
on this journey with you and I'mhoping you want to go on this
journey with me.
I hope you have an incrediblerest of your Monday.
Shoot me a message on Instagram.
