If you’re single and able-bodied, there’s rarely any obstruction to being able to get around in any city, suburb or even rural area. Most likely, you can get anywhere you need to go whenever you want without the use of specialized equipment.
However, once you have a child, all that changes. Strollers, car seats, changing tables in the men’s room - all of a sudden all the things you never thought twice about are front and center in ways you can’t ignore.
Joining us on this episode of Millennial Dads is urbanist Barry Greene Jr., aka Density Dad. Barry is the father of two children, a three year old girl and nine month old boy. He is also the founder and executive director of Transit First CLT, and a member of the Public Transportation Advisory Committee in Charlotte, NC.
Barry joins Andy and Brian to discuss what some of the common oversights he sees in public design, why it’s important to design useable built spaces, and what the average person can do to advocate for change.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
