Have you ever wanted to reallylearn something new?
Something big, like maybe a newlanguage or a healthier way of
living, a new type of businessor a side gig or maybe just a
new sector of your existingbusiness?
But you keep talking yourselfout of it.
You just keep kicking it downthe road a bit because you're
convinced it'll just take youtoo long.
(02:32):
But maybe someday, when youhave extra time, then you'll
learn it right.
Extra time, huh?
Hmm, perhaps you're in thecollision repair business and
you'd really love to learn aboutthe latest technologies in
today's business that are partof a successful future, like how
to correctly address ADAS orsafely tackle EV repairs, maybe
(02:53):
get your arms aroundblueprinting and damage analysis
, or even how to change theculture in your shop, but those
things will take some time tolearn.
You're busy enough every dayalready, right?
Isn't there a quicker path?
Isn't there some type of easybutton I can hit?
Well, although there's no easybutton for any of us, the good
news is there is a quicker pathand we all have access to it
(03:17):
anytime we want it.
It's a very effective mentalhack called immersion, and today
I'll show you how to use thissimple technique to help
compress time and get fasterresults.
For whatever you're looking tolearn Now.
I know the first mental imagesyou have when you heard the word
immersion is probably a personup to their neck in water or
some other type of liquid.
Right, because that's what weknow for sure is having our
(03:40):
whole body in water means we'reimmersed.
Maybe a social media video cameto mind of some celebrity like
Joe Rogan immersed in an icebath or cold plunge.
Those really seem to be popularthese days, but there is many
more forms of immersion thanthat.
But those examples do have asimilar purpose.
By definition, immersion refersto the state of being
(04:01):
completely absorbed, engaged orsurrounded by something.
Now there's many ways to beimmersed, and most of these
involve engaging several of yoursenses, not just one or two.
Like physical immersion, thingslike a cold pool or an ice bath
or cold plunges and hyperbaricchambers are great examples of
immersion and used when healingand injury recovery is needed
(04:23):
ASAP.
Professional athletes have beenusing these tools for healing
during their playing seasons toquickly get back in the game
after an injury for years, withincredible results.
Cultural or language immersionthis involves living and
interacting with people from adifferent culture to gain
first-hand knowledge andunderstanding of their customs,
the local language, traditionsand daily life.
(04:45):
It may include things likehomestays or field trips or
participation in local events.
Now I once had a customer, ashop owner, a good friend of
mine that wanted to learn how tocook authentic Italian food as
well as learn the language.
So instead of taking cookinglessons here in the US and
reading some books on how tospeak Italian, he decided to
(05:05):
travel with his wife to a smalltown in Italy and stay with a
host family for three weekswhere he learned how to cook and
speak Italian in their home, while immersed in the culture.
He said it was one of the bestlearning experiences he's ever
had.
Now you could buy severaldifferent books on how to learn
how to speak Italian, even putan app on your phone, but you
(05:26):
would probably spend more than afew months learning the
language.
You know a few pages, a fewwords at a time and never really
hearing somebody in personspeaking those words repeatedly
day after day.
Or you could spend a coupleweeks overseas, immersed in the
language and probably pick up onmore in those few weeks and
understand the words better,right?
You can experience watching anew movie on a big screen at
(05:50):
home or in the movie theater.
Or you can get immersed in theexperience and see it in an IMAX
theater with a floor-to-ceilingscreen and surround sound and
those active seats that rumbleand move and really feel like
you're in the movie and enjoy itat a much higher level.
Many top motivational speakerswill do live events for multiple
(06:10):
days where you go to make majorlife improvements or learn to
create and launch a business, like Tony Robbins does with his
Unleash the Power Within eventhe does every year where you're
immersed in learning for up to10 hours a day, three to four
days in a row, where they engageall the senses through lighting
, sound, music, visuals,temperature.
(06:32):
But the concept has worked formany other leaders because the
focus is 100% on this new growthand learning and undisturbed by
our normal life distractors, thousands of people every year
will go to destination spas orretreats to rehab their health,
maybe eliminate an addiction orrejuvenate their spirit at some
off-site location that providesan immersion in beautiful
(06:54):
scenery, warm climates, naturalsurroundings where the complete
focus is on your health andrecovery.
All these various uses ofimmersion have a common theme
they condense the time itnormally takes for healing,
learning or massive change inyour life or business by
creating an environment whereyou're focusing almost 100% on
(07:14):
your desired outcome or goal andby engaging multiple senses
simultaneously or drasticallyreducing the distractions that
prevent us from staying focused.
I truly believe that our ownlack of focus holds us back more
often than we think.
If you're looking for acompetitive edge for your
business or a more effectivejumpstart to your personal
development, I'll make yourfirst step super simple.
(07:37):
It is a fact that an incrediblenumber of the most successful
business owners, nearly half ofthe Fortune 500 companies,
top-earning professionalathletes, entertainers and
industry leaders likeMicrosoft's Bill Gates, former
President Bill Clinton, oprahWinfrey, richard Branson,
amazon's Jeff Bezos andSalesforce's Mark Benioff all
have one thing in common theyall have at least one coach and
(08:00):
some have several that they workwith on a consistent basis,
someone that helps guide, mentorand support them, challenge
them, help them set and achievegoals that move them forward and
then hold them accountable tofollow through, driving personal
and professional growth.
Working with a coach has manysubstantial benefits.
Just for an example, 80% ofcoaching clients report improved
(08:21):
self-esteem or self-confidencethanks to coaching.
99% of individuals andcompanies that hire a coach
report being very satisfied and96% would do it again.
If, deep down, you know it'stime to make those improvements
in your business, your personallife, that you've kicked down
the road year after year.
(08:41):
If you're tired of knowingthere's a better version of you
waiting to shine, but unsure ofhow to bring that version to
light.
If you're tired of wanting toenjoy a more successful business
, but not sure how to start.
And if you don't want to goanother 12 months without better
results but?
But you don't want to go italone, then take the first step.
It's super simple.
Sometimes talking to the rightperson can make all the
difference.
Go to wwwrixelovercom contactand I'll set you up with a free
(09:05):
consultation.
Call with me to see ifone-on-one coaching is right for
you.
So how do we apply this mentalhack to help collision shop
owners or really any otherbusiness owners quickly learn
the new aspects of theirever-changing repair environment
?
Within a couple months, but nottake a year or two to do this?
Well, it's simple, but not easy.
It'll require getting out ofyour comfort zone.
(09:27):
Literally, you cannotaccomplish everything you need
to learn about ADAS, ev repairsor how to correctly blueprint a
safe and proper repair from thecomfort of your desk looking at
your computer screen.
No, you will need to immerseyourself in the subject, the
desired outcome, the goal.
This will involve leaving yourcomfy chair, your office and
(09:47):
your shop, probably severaltimes.
You will have to spend sometime, travel a bit, maybe
several times, sit with somestrangers, spend some money,
dedicate a relatively shortperiod of your business life to
this desired goal, but you'llsave yourself some of your most
precious resource time.
The technologies in ADAS and EVare advancing rapidly and the
(10:10):
old school method of picking andpecking at information over a
long period of time will onlylead to frustration and yield
poor or little results.
You need to get all in andabsorb the information and
training in the shortest, mostcompact period of time to be
able to understand, adapt andapply the learnings before they
change on you.
Being in close proximity toothers, learning in a classroom
(10:34):
or live training environment, aswell as those that are doing
the instructing, the experts inthe field, having that back and
forth conversation, questioningwhat you're learning, getting
multiple inputs from thosearound you just getting their
feet wet in this technology, aswell as from the ones that are
mastering their skills and havehad real world experience.
They have lived and learnedthrough the process.
(10:55):
That's where the exponentiallearning happens.
Now couple that with a mix ofonline classes provided by ICAR,
the equipment and toolmanufacturers and industry
software providers and coachinggroups, which is low-cost and
easily accessible without anytravel, and then mix in
attending some industryconferences and events that
(11:16):
include education sessions fromindustry leaders on those
particular subjects.
And, man, now you're cookingwith gas.
You're starting to experiencethat immersion effect I was
talking about.
Now, I know this may sound likea lot of moving pieces because
it is, but the key is inscheduling right.
Fortunately, there is so muchfocus right now on these very
(11:36):
subjects ADAS, ev, blueprintingthat selecting the needed
training modules, hands-onevents, manufacturers' webinars
and conferences to attend shouldbe fairly easy.
There are many options in allthese categories.
They can all be tied closetogether enough to gain
immersion and that multiplyinglearning effect of immersion.
(11:57):
Let's use a probably the leastcomplicated example like
blueprinting and damage analysisfor your chosen endeavor.
Now, if you looked at dates foronline training with ICAR or
OEM training programs and thenyou cross-check them with some
available webinars and virtualtraining events, then you add in
(12:17):
a regional or nationalconference or two or trade show
where you can interact with thesoftware, tool and equipment
vendors and catch an in-persontraining, you could build a
pretty tight schedule that'sachievable, and then you could
supplement the in-between times,if you have any, with
connecting with peer-to-peercoaching groups let's say Mike
Anderson's Collision Advice orCertified Collision Group or
(12:39):
Dave Luer's Elite Body ShopSolutions and lastly, spend some
time at some non-competingshops that are already utilizing
a blueprinting process to seehow it works in real time and
ask the questions.
It'll help you get a runningstart in your shop and then go
back to your shop and startpracticing some of those
processes.
But please understand these newbusiness sectors you're learning
(13:00):
to integrate into your shop arenot mastered over a weekend and
put into place on a Monday.
No, they take substantialamounts of learning,
understanding, planning,preparation and time before
you're able to start that firstjob.
But using the power ofimmersion, you can condense that
time needed to get to thatpoint.
Now you can apply the samestrategy for any other piece of
(13:22):
the business, like ADAS or EVrepairs, or even start a
completely different, unrelatedbusiness.
Some will just involve moreaspects and options to immerse
in than others.
Now I've already built a fewtemplates on how to structure
this immersion with the help ofAI.
That includes the types ofactivities to schedule and
attend, as well as the suggestedimmersion timeline that are all
(13:44):
laid out in a logical order.
Now, if you'd like a copy ofthese templates for either ADAS,
ev repairs or blueprinting anddamage analysis, just reach out
to me and I'll email them to youfor free.
Look, let's be real here.
This is not for everybody.
It's not simple, it's not quick, it's not easy and it's not
guaranteed anywhere that you'llbe successful, but you won't
(14:06):
know your outcome until youactually try it right.
But if you never bother trying, you do know for sure that you
won't achieve anything beyondwhat you have right now.
I've talked with many ownersover the past several years that
have seen other shops becomesuccessful, growing their new
ADAS business or gaining newbusiness with electric vehicle
repairs, or finally deciding toditch that old, tired method of
(14:29):
writing estimates in favor of ablueprinting and analysis system
and make comments like, yeah,I'm thinking of checking into
that, or yeah, it'd be great toadd to my business, but or, as
soon as things settle down a bit, I'm going to look into that.
This may be you too, right?
Well, I'll tell you it's timeto stop watching from the
sidelines.
It's time to stopprocrastinating.
(14:50):
It's time to get in the game.
Even if you took 6 to 12 monthsto get rolling, the 6 to 12
months is going to pass anyways, right, and your competition
that's, adding these services intheir business will be taking
your potential customers thatneed those services.
So the time is now.
Quit dipping your toes in thewater.
Time to take action.
(15:11):
Time to immerse yourself, condense the learning curve and
make your dreams a reality.
Well, that's all I had for youtoday.
Thanks again for tuning in.
I really appreciate yoursupport and I hope you have a
great week.
